Tim Bradford doesn’t believe in love at first sight. Or he didn’t before he met you. Your sunny personality drew him in, making his world a little brighter. From the moment he met you a few months ago, Tim has been enraptured by you. He’s still grumpy; his personality didn’t change overnight upon meeting you, but your sweet laugh and kind responses to his grumpiness make him happy. His smile isn’t as rare as it once was, but you still fight to see it, bringing as much sunshine as possible.
As your two-month anniversary approaches, you’re happier and giddier than usual. Toning it down as you knock on Tim’s door, you’re surprised to see him already smiling when he invites you in. It seems you’re rubbing off on him, even if he only shows you the softness that lies under the grumpy Tim you know and love. Although your relationship is very new, you haven’t even learned much about Tim’s previous relationships, you know you love him and treasure every moment you spend with your man of honor.
“Hey, you,” Tim mumbles, pulling you into a warm hug. “Missed you.”
“Long day?” you ask, pushing your fingers through his hair.
“Unbelievably. Nolan and Lopez decided to interrogate me about why I was in a ‘good mood’ all day.”
You stifle a laugh at Tim’s air quotes. He rolls his eyes when he sees your bright smile but pulls you into the kitchen anyway.
“I didn’t even know you could smile,” you tease him. “Now I want to know what caused the good mood.”
“I think you know.”
Despite his initial hesitance in getting close to you, Tim obviously knows how to treat you right and make you feel seen, appreciated, beautiful, and loved. Each moment you spend with him makes you a little more curious as to why no one has snatched him up yet. Yes, he’s grumpy, but he’s also just a big teddy bear underneath if you’re willing to dig.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim usually walks you home after dates, but he gets called into work, so you return alone. There is a small envelope slipped in the space between your door and the jamb, and you decide to open it before going inside.
The simple message reading ‘Back Off’ doesn’t give much information, so you shrug as you unlock the door. It’s probably just some kids messing around or a silly prank that ended up at the wrong house.
As soon as you lock the door behind you, your phone rings.
“Hello,” you greet cheerfully.
The line is silent for a few seconds before it beeps, disconnected from the other end.
“Wrong number,” you hum to yourself as you walk away from the phone.
When it rings again, you don’t answer. Your cell phone rings, a rare picture of Tim smiling (that he will delete as soon as he finds it) lighting up your screen as you race to answer it.
“Hey,” you say.
“I called your house a second ago, are you home yet?”
“Oh, yeah. Sorry, someone called right before with a wrong number, and I thought it was them again.”
Tim hums before telling you he wouldn’t be at work as long as he thought; he just needed to help with some paperwork before a case went to court.
“I can get reservations for next weekend if you’re still okay with my restaurant choice.”
You smile at Tim’s willingness to let you choose before assuring him that you only want to be with him, but you like the food there, too, so it’s a win-win.
After Tim hangs up, you fall asleep, forgetting about the note and the phone call.
✯✯✯✯✯
Someone knocks on your door as you exit your bedroom the following morning. You locate a bathrobe, pulling it over your pajamas before opening the door. Another envelope is on your mat, but no one is in sight.
The message in this one is a bit more concerning. The message, typed in a plain black font, reads: ‘I will KILL you to take him back.’
You consider calling Tim, asking him if he knows of any pranks like this going on in the neighborhood before deciding he’s probably too busy with real police work. Maybe you’re just paranoid.
Your cell phone rings, and you answer quickly, silencing when the only noise on the other end is distorted breathing. After they hang up, your thumb hovers over Tim’s number.
“Grow up,” you chide yourself before returning to your room to get ready.
✯✯✯✯✯
Throughout the day, more creepy phone calls are made to your cell phone until you finally turn it off. When you meet Tim for lunch, he asks if you got the message he sent you, and you tell him a white lie: too many telemarketers were calling, and you turned it off. He nods, but his gaze is intense like he doesn’t quite believe you.
✯✯✯✯✯
After three days of phone calls with nothing but breathing and more notes about someone killing you to get whoever him is back from you, you’re tired. However, the morning goes by with no calls, and you think maybe whatever it was is finally over. When you walk out to your car, you freeze in the driveway and nearly drop everything you’re holding.
Someone has slashed your tire and put a large building nail through it to attach a note.
You are next.
Up to this point, you’ve been more agitated than anything, but now you’re scared. Whoever this is has been close to you and knows when you come and go. But, at the same time, it’s just some notes and phone calls, not like you’re in any immediate danger.
Your phone buzzes, and you jump, an incoming text from Tim startling you. You reply to his message quickly, telling him you ran over a nail at some point and won’t be able to meet him for lunch. Seconds after pressing send, he calls you.
“Morning,” you answer, staring at the nail in your tire.
“Are you alright?” he asks, ignoring your nice greeting.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m still at home, just noticed the tire.”
“I can come pick you up for lunch,” he offers. “Or come see you.”
“It’s completely out of the way, Tim, no worries. I’ll make up for it tomorrow?”
Tim doesn’t speak for a moment, and you can nearly see the crease on his forehead as he dissects your answers.
“Sure,” he says finally. “Call me if that changes.”
As he ends the call, he rubs his chin and decides to ask you what’s going on next time he sees you. You had been so happy and excited leading up to your anniversary, but it’s like a switch was flipped in you, and now you don’t want to talk to him. He believes you about the tire, but something else is bothering you, and he intends to find out what.
✯✯✯✯✯
Eating lunch at your desk, someone brings you a box from your favorite bakery.
“This was delivered to the front desk,” your coworker says, leaving it with you.
There are no names on it, but Tim is one of very few people who knows how much you like their treats. He also knows that you have severe food allergies, and it is one of the few bakeries in Los Angeles that happily works around them. Smiling at the idea of Tim sending you something after your rough morning, you open the box and take one of the goodies out.
After the third or fourth bite, you realize something is really wrong. As your throat closes, you start to panic as you dig through your bag for your epi-pen. One of the girls at a desk near you sees you and rushes to your aid, pulling your spare epi-pen from the communal snack area and inserting the tip into your leg as she yells for someone else to call 911.
The adrenaline surges into you, clearing your throat as you take a deep breath. Immediately, you know that whoever slashed your tires knows more than where you live and when you leave.
✯✯✯✯✯
The hospital is busy, and people are in and out of your room so frequently that you can barely think straight. You hear someone yell your name, recognizing Tim’s voice anywhere. He appears in the doorway a moment later, wide-eyed as he looks you over.
“I completely forgot I put you as my emergency contact. I’m so sorry,” you apologize lowly.
“What happened?” he asks, his voice softer than it was outside as he nears your side.
“I- I ate something and forgot to check the ingredients. Then I couldn’t find my epi-pen.”
Tim knows you always check the ingredients; your allergies dictate part of your life. If you didn’t make it or order it after inquiring about its ingredients or how it’s made, you don’t eat it.
“How are you feeling now?” Tim asks, deciding it’s not the best time to press for the truth. His hand lands on your leg, rubbing gentle circles with his thumb.
“I’m okay. My chest is still a little tight but they gave me something for it.”
“Let me call my chief and I’ll take the rest of the day off so I can take you home,” he offers.
“No, don’t do that, Tim. One of my coworkers can give me a ride home so you can go back to work.”
“I don’t think you should be alone.”
“The medicine is working, I just have to give it time and take it easy for a few hours. I promise I will be fine.”
Tim nods, squeezing your hand before kissing your forehead. “If you need anything, call me.”
You nod, watching him go. The feeling of his hand on yours is still there, and you feel terrible for lying to him, but there’s no real evidence that someone is trying to hurt you. Maybe someone was trying to be kind with the treats and didn’t know about your allergies.
Even as you think it, you realize it sounds ridiculous. You’re in danger, and you’re going to have to tell someone eventually.
✯✯✯✯✯
Your coworker drops you off after you insist you can walk to the door alone. Mostly, you don’t want her to see the giant nail in your tire.
Worse, you realize, is the other one. You slow when you see your front door, with a six-inch building nail driven into it. It’s nearly level with your eyes, and a disgusting mix of red and brown paint covers the door below it. A replica of a murder scene, you presume.
Finally understanding that every little thing over the last few days has been a threat, you don’t feel safe alone in your house. Stepping back, you prepare to call Tim.
Before you can, you see a woman standing in your driveway, staring at you with a nail gun and a paintbrush hanging from her hand.
“Who are you?” you ask quietly, swallowing as you try to steady your voice.
“I’m the one that Tim Bradford is supposed to be with,” she answers, slowly moving toward you. “Everyone could see how good we were together. Then you showed up and he changed his mind about me. Whatever you did to get him away from me… I will do so much more to you.”
You step backward as she speaks, fumbling with your keys behind your back. Just as she reaches the front of your porch, you step inside quickly and slam the door, locking it and looking around frantically for something you can use as a weapon. It gets quiet outside, not even a footstep audible as you hold your breath to listen.
A key slides easily into your lock, and you scramble into the kitchen, loosening your grip on your stuff to grab a knife on your way to the bathroom, one of the only doors that lock. The front door closes and locks, her easy footsteps far too familiar with the layout of your home.
Reaching for your phone to call for help, you realize that you dropped your phone to get the knife. You stand in front of the bathtub, terrified as you raise the knife in front of your chest.
After a moment of silence that seems to last an eternity, the doorknob jiggles. You tighten your grip on the knife handle as she hums.
A nail shoots through the lock, lodging in the metal mechanisms, and you back up until your calves are pressed to the cool side of the tub. Another nail comes through the door, launching through the hollow wood and lodging into the tile on the wall behind you. You drop your head as the tile shatters, and a third nail follows quickly, her aim much lower as it hooks your pants, pinning you to the porcelain behind you. You rip your leg free, stepping away from the tub and failing to notice the stinging sensation or the blood trickling down your ankle as you climb into the tub, hoping it offers enough protection.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim clenches his jaw when his third call to you goes unanswered. You promised to keep him updated after the anaphylaxis scare, but it’s been a couple hours since he left you in the hospital, and he hasn't heard a thing.
“Tim, just go,” Angela says, a knowing look on her face. “You won’t be able to focus until you know they’re okay. Unless you’re finally willing to tell me who brought a little sunshine to Timothy Bradford’s cloudy skies,” she taunts at the end.
Tim lets out a soft “hmm,” accepting her offer and gathering his things from the edge of her desk.
“She must be important,” Angela calls behind him, smirking to herself when he doesn’t correct her.
✯✯✯✯✯
Your breaths are loud and shaky even as you focus on controlling them. Several more clicks are heard from the nail gun, and you flinch each time, curling further into the bathtub. A loud screech draws your attention, a second nail dislodging the knob and the lock before the door opens.
You take your chance, hoping to surprise her as you jump toward her, knocking her to the floor and using both hands to point the nail gun away from you. She tries to roll out from under you, squeezing the trigger and firing a nail into the ceiling as she does. A small shower of drywall dust coats the room, but you keep your head down, entirely focused on keeping her at arm’s length.
“When it ends – when you end – I get him back!” she grunts, twisting in your grasp.
The sharper end of the paintbrush she had earlier is pushed into your side, and you gasp, loosening your grip on the nail gun. She raises it quickly as she tilts to the side, dumping you onto the floor and taking the upper hand. A nail is fired beside your head, momentarily deafening you as you flinch away from it.
You are unsure if she said him or Tim, but you think she means the same either way. Tim is the only thing you can think of that someone might want to take back from you.
“Isn’t that his choice?” you ask, pushing her hands away from you as she gets angrier.
She drops the paintbrush before using both hands to push the nail gun toward your forehead. You raise your legs, kicking her forward and over your head. As she topples, she squeezes the trigger multiple times. After the last firing sound, you open your eyes and notice a nail holding your shirt to the floor.
When you hear her groan behind you, you reach over until you feel the metal trash can beside your toilet, raising it over your head and dropping it aimlessly.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim has dozens of questions he wants to ask, but as he races to your house, they slowly fade into two: are you safe, and how can he make you see that telling him everything will benefit you both? He knows he doesn’t always seem like the best listener and isn’t big on sharing, but he wants to know what is happening in your life, what you’re feeling, and what you’re dealing with. More than that, he wants to be at your side, helping you navigate a life with him.
✯✯✯✯✯
The door opens with a loud bang, causing you to flinch. You attempt to sit up before yelping in pain when something tugs your side. Someone is running through your house, and you’re torn between yelling for help or staying silent in case she wasn’t working alone.
Tim yells your name, and you sigh before answering, “In the bathroom.”
✯✯✯✯✯
When Tim turns into your driveway, blocking the sidewalk as he parks behind your car, he sees the oversized nail protruding from your tire. Walking past it, he knows that wasn’t accidental, nor was the slash below it.
Worried about you and racking his brain over who would do something like that to you, he sees the scene on your door and kicks it open before he even thinks to knock.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim stops in the hallway, his eyes raking over the nails lining the door and the few stray ones in the wall across the hallway. It appears that most of the attack was aimed at the bathroom, but whatever happened escalated quickly.
Using his shoulder, he forcefully opens the door before entering the small bathroom. He steps over your unconscious assailant, lowering to his knee beside you. Looking over you, he lays a hand on the side of your neck, a warm and welcome comfort as he directs you to look at him.
You try to move closer to him, but he rushes to stop you.
“Don’t. Don’t move. The ambulance and more help are on the way, let’s just wait for them,” he says.
You nod, trusting him but unsure why he won’t let you move.
“Is she…” you ask, trailing off.
“She’s unconscious,” Tim answers concisely. “What’d you hit her with?”
“The trashcan,” you answer, a small smile appearing and making Tim shake his head.
“I should get one of those,” Tim jokes, leaning toward you.
Sirens grow louder as they get closer, and Tim sighs in relief.
“Are you okay?” he asks. “I can’t ask what happened yet, that’s for the next cop. But as your boyfriend, are you okay?”
“I am now,” you answer, raising your hand to lay over his on your jaw.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Do you know who she is?” the officer asks as the EMT sits beside you.
“No,” you answer. “I’ve been getting phone calls and messages for a few days, but I’ve never seen her before.”
“I have,” Tim interjects, shaking his head at you before supplying a name. “My ex.”
“Any idea as to why she attacked you?” the officer asks, glancing toward Tim.
“Sergeant Bradford, I presume. She said she’d kill me to get him back, but never said who him was,” you answer.
Tim nods, lowering his voice to explain something to the officer as the EMT asks questions about how you feel.
You sigh in relief as the paramedics carry Tim’s unconscious ex out, gripping Tim’s hand as he moves to your side again.
“This is going to hurt, I’m sorry,” the kind EMT says.
Tim moves his fingers, letting you squeeze him as much as you need.
“The nail caught some of your skin, but I’m going to try to go fast to minimize the pain.”
Understanding why it hurt to sit up before, you focus on Tim’s hand in yours rather than the hands on your torso, working to free you from the bathroom floor and stop the bleeding.
“All done,” the EMT announces. “You didn’t even flinch. We’ll get you to the hospital and let the doctors check everything.”
You sit up with Tim’s help, leaning against him as a temporary bandage is placed on your side. Looking around your destroyed bathroom, you move closer to Tim, grateful for him.
“Your ex is crazy,” you mumble against his shoulder.
Tim laughs, and it's a short but relieved noise accompanying his arm across your back, keeping you close and comforted.
“We’ll fix the bathroom later,” he promises.
You tilt your head and furrow your brows, prompting Tim to kiss the crease between them. “You’re not coming back here for a few days. Don’t give me that look.”
✯✯✯✯✯
Leaving the hospital, Tim lifts you from the wheelchair, staring at you when you grab his shoulders.
“I can walk, Tim,” you remind him.
He doesn’t listen or doesn’t care, taking the last few steps to the passenger seat and setting you down before buckling your seat belt, mindful of your bandaged side. He carries you into his house, grabbing some of your favorite snacks and drinks before sitting beside you and welcoming you into his arms. He’s quiet, but you’ve grown to understand Tim’s different silences better than most people’s words.
Right now, he’s relieved, but you’re sure he has a lot of questions, too. Getting him to ask them is the hard part.
“Have any other exes I should know about?” you ask after a few minutes.
“Hmm.” He raises his fingers as he nods and shakes his head, a playful ‘debate’ over who is worthy of being mentioned. Lowering his hands and giving you a sincere look, he says, “No, I don’t think so. And I’m sorry I didn’t mention her, I never expected she’d do something like this.”
You nod, though you never considered blaming him for something so completely out of his control. This is all on her, and she’ll have a chance to explain herself.
“Think I’d be a crazy ex?”
“You won’t be an ex at all,” Tim answers, tugging you closer against his chest.
Turning toward him, you trace your finger in small shapes over his chest.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Tim asks gently.
You shrug. “I didn’t know how. And it wasn’t that bad at first.”
“You have to tell me these things or I don’t know something is wrong, I can’t help.”
“But you get grumpy,” you reply with an exaggerated pout.
Tim proves you right, grumbling even as he kisses you. “I’m allowed to be grumpy when someone is hurting the woman I love.”
You sit up quickly, and Tim’s eyes widen, his hands raising to your side as he grows concerned that you hurt yourself.
“You love me?”
Tim shakes his head, rolling his eyes as he mutters, “Against my better judgment, yes.”
You giggle at his grumpiness, leaning back into his side. He pulls your legs across his lap, letting you curl completely into his side. Toying with the hem of his your borrowed sweatpants, Tim lets his mind wander before tracing a gentle finger around the bandage on your ankle.
“Tickles,” you argue when you yank your leg away from him.
Tim pulls your leg back down, pointing out, “I deserve a few tickles after the week you put me through.”
“I was poisoned, and you had a bad week?” you repeat.
“I knew you were lying, you lying liar that lies!”
You duck your head at the reminder of everything you kept from Tim over the last few days. The anniversary you were so excited about now seems tainted.
“Hey,” Tim whispers, drawing your attention. “I’m not mad at you. And whenever you’re ready to talk about it, I’m right here.”
“I don’t even know how she found out about the allergies,” you mumble.
“That’s probably my fault. I have notes and epi-pens everywhere, so if she was close enough to do this to you, she was close enough to find any of my stuff laying around.”
You shiver at the idea of her going through your things, but Tim’s hand rubs down your back and chases those thoughts away.
Taking his invitation, you start at the beginning and tell him about the notes, the phone calls, the bakery box, and how the little, seemingly harmless notes progressed so quickly. He grows grumpier with each word, so you determine you may need to make the ending a bit more interesting for him.
“And then my knight in shining armor showed up and saved the day,” you finish, kissing his cheek. “He’s just a grumpy teddy bear.”
Tim pulls you closer, glad to have your company again. “Tell me things and I’ll be even more of a teddy bear.”
You smile excitedly, so Tim clarifies, “Only for you.”

Hello! I'm sorry for not getting to this post earlier, life's been crazy the last week hahaha (adulting, ya know?)
I watched the finale and boy howdy it had me in my feels 😅😅
If you haven't watched it yet, this is a post that definitely contains spoilers so read at your own risk!
Wanted to start off with some of the plots that stood out to me the most. these are just my thoughts and opinions/ feelings so please be nice in the comments. I kinda wanted this to be a discussion post for anyone interested.
Bobby- he lived! I'm so so so glad he was okay, i lowkey thought we were losing him. He's honestly one of my personal faves so idk how I would have felt if he didn't make it 😭😭 I also just wanted to point out, he literally quit, almost died, and then walked into the station like nothing happened. I cannot wait to see how the team is going to handle him quitting and literally not saying anything before everything went down. Like was he just planning on not telling them at all?? Also, in terms of what his plan was, honestly broke my heart. He DESERVES the life he built. He DESERVES the family he built. And the scene with him and Amir just.... ugh. Amir might not forgive him but I wasn't expecting him to tell Bobby he earned the right to a life and family despite what happened. His montage at the beginning of last episode BROKE ME.
Athena- Homegirl was out for BLOOD! Look, I love athena, but she literally misuses her job for personal gain and expects no consequences😭 both her and Bobby have been through SO MUCH these last few seasons. In terms of Amir, I think they just needa let the man live his life. Yes, her being there pretty much saved him from the cartel, but guys, she ate her words by pulling a gun on him. Im not sure what season she says it but she tells someone that it is in fact considered assault when you point a gun at someone. Angela Bassett performance this episode was 10/10, probably one of her best performances so far imo
Hen & Karen- omgggg these two I tell you. They can't catch a break😭😭 the way they lost Mara simply because a councilwoman was on a power trip just had me in TEARS. They deserve to have Mara in thier life, no matter what. I think they are good for her. She's good for them and Denny. I hope we get to see thier story progress more next season.
Maddie&Chim- THESE TWO! The fact that they were there when Hen got the call about Mara and were the ones who got her out of the group home just does something to my heart ngl. I literally love them both so much. They are so so kind and caring about the people in thier life.
Eddie& Chris- this is the one that truthfully really made me question some things. Eddie really, REALLY needs to talk to someone. The whole thing with Kim just, makes me feel icky. Did not like that little subplot one bit. I understand that Kim was simply trying to help, but I honestly think it made things so so much worse. Especially when Chris and Marisol walked in the door at the end of the moment. Chris literally stood there, and said "Mom?" He's traumatized for life. I honestly agree with his decision to call his grandparents. Little guy just needs a break. He needs space. His dad is going through something that he as a CHILD shouldn't have to endure as well. I know some people hate that Chris called the grandparents, and I know that Eddie really didn't want to let Christopher go but he needed to.. even if he didn't want to.. I think Eddie is going to be going through it next season and I can't wait to see what they do with him next season.
Buck- Buck, Buck, BUCK theres so much that I loved about him this episode. The fact that he showed up for Eddie and Chris and said "what can I do" I just... *chefs kiss* He showed up and said "I can't explain this to your kid but I will make damn sure he's okay" and DID. He made sure that Chris was okay, and on top of that made sure Eddie was also okay. And when the grandparents showed up, even though he couldn't convince Chris to stay, he didn't try to get any more involved than was necessary. You can see on his face that he's sad about Chris wanting to leave, but understands. He's sad for Eddie and put his hand on his shoulder to say, "I'm sorry, but im here for you". In my opinion, Buck has grown so so much since the first season and he's become another one of my favs.
Buck&Tommy- (I felt they needed thier own little section) I love what the actors, showrunners and writers are doing with this. Tommy and buck are in a HEALTHY, STABLE, relationship. It might have started out just a little rocky, but they've built on it and each other and im HERE FOR ITTTT! The vulnerability between the BOTH of them about thier own fathers/ father figures when Tommy asked buck if he was okay really proved that they are at the point in the relationship that they can open up to each other, and that Tommy cares. They know how to read each other. In terms of the daddy issues topic, im glad that queer, MASCULINE MEN are shown in a proper, HEALTHY, SHAMELESS sexual relationship. Buck opened the door by flirting and tommy picked it right up and im here for it. There wasn't anything "weird" or "out of left field"about it, Buck wanted to see if Tommy could match his freak and he DID! I genuinely hope they grow next season and give us more insight into thier relationship dynamic.
I also just wanted to point out, Cap literally told Buck "hes good for you, because we haven't had to talk about it" like what other proof do people need to see that they are a good match? Literally every other relationship buck has had, has ended in disaster. I don't think there was a partner he had that didn't warrant a discussion between him and Cap before Tommy came around.
The team all together- the fact that they all dropped everything to be there for Cap and athena really shows that they are a family.
Captain Gerrard- not much to say, not surprised that they brought him back, next seasons gonna interesting. Still a POS in my book no matter WHAT they do with his character.
All in all I loved the season finale. I loved that they wrapped up most of the major storylines to open the door for a new one (captain Gerrard return to the 118)
Thanks for reading if you stayed through this jumbled mess!

i had this silly idea i told my friend about what if the Trigun Stampede gang run in to a runaway teen reader and then the reader’s part of the gang. The reader’s in their rebellious phase of course and kinda argues with Wolfwood a lot. Can you write headcanons for this please? (°▽°)
Runaway!
Tumblr media
A/N: i’M SO SORRY FOR THE LATE RESPONSE IT WAS A REALLY HECTIC MONTH😭😭😭😭 honestly, this was really fun to write heheheh,,, i can kinda see reader being a pain in the ass but with good intentions….maybe… But god i can imagine how crazy the stampede crew would be if they had a teen,,, i love it😌☝️☝️☝️ Hope you enjoy!!!(*´∇`*)
warnings/tags: none!
Tumblr media
Well aren't you a little anomaly in the bad deserts!
When you first encounter the gang, it wasn't a very...proud encounter.
To be exact, trying to steal Vash's gun in the middle of a busy bar was a very brave choice knowing that the Humanoid Typhoon was trying to eat spaghetti, and in the flesh!
Bold dare I say but, besides that, you were getting hunted by a group of thugs that had been going through town and uh, you sure did cause a bit of trouble.
And by trouble I mean you stole their car keys and went out for a joy ride.
Yup, crashed that shit rightttt into a boulder.
And of course Vash, who's a bit too kind for his own good at times, wanted to help someone so young to Wolfwood's disbelief. Meryl and Roberto? They've witnessed what he did for Jenora Rock so they kinda expected it.
After that first meeting, you naturally stuck to the wacky group and often times when needed, you tried to help them in exchange for saving your life.
Of course with payment :D It's a hard world for a runaway teen out here!
Don't worry you don't make them pay...sometimes...
Young and free they say hahaha!!...Yeah you had literally no more bullet to spare so time to get workin~
You often had Wolfwood reminisce his times back at the orphanage. He's lived there for so long and he's dealt with kids of many ages, but goddamn did you give this man a mf headache.
Sorry, correction, a migraine.
I damn right knowww he goes through twice the number of cigarette packs when you're around.
"Alright kid, no more grabbing shit or starting fights. Zip your mouth if you're gonna be tagging along-"
"Do you really think I'm gonna listen to a priest?"
"UNDERTAKER!"
"Same thing"
"No it's not!"
You glanced at Meryl for more input.
"...Okay I can see where they're coming from-"
"MERYL SERIOUSLY?!"
You got Wolfwood this close to Homer Simpson choking you out.
Sometimes Vash can't help but watch the both of you headbutt eachother.
He's the type of person to try and stop the fight and maintain the peace but bestie, when you're against a rebelling teenager anything is possible.
He understands tho bc he's also gone through his little phase, that's how he got his little earring :D
But asides from that, when he tries to stop ya'll you guys just ignore him lmAOOO
They say teens are rebellious while trying to find others who they can relate to or have a connection with and well, although you didn't really have a permanent home anymore like you use to, you slowly found yourself getting fond of this little wacky group.
And at some point while you guys got closer, Wolfwood tended to look after you a little more.
Was it because of his past? Or were you just a kid who needed the right guidance forward?
Either way, he tries his best to give you good advice,,, advice to keep you alive.
A practical guardian you could say,, Or kinda like an uncle?
And you know what, you don't mind it.
"Did your sticky little hands grab another fucking wallet? Seriously?"
'No I did not!" You narrowed your eyes at him "It's a map get it right. I also only steal from the rick-looking men Wolfwood cmon now-"
You ended up getting a bonk on the head from him, which led you to looking at Roberto, who downed another drink.
"What are you looking at me for?"
WHATCHU MEAN MY BOY ARE YOU REALLY NOT GONNA-
He really doesn't care lMAAOOO Most unphased man alive.
As long as no one dies!
And maybe after all of this time, even after those two years after what happened to July you guys will reunite again :)
You still a lil' shit tho
"does anyone have gum?"
"I haven't seen you in two years and you're asking me this?"
"...It was just a question..."
FUN TIMESSSSSS~
extra:
-you would wHIP THE NEWS AGENCY CAR ON A GOOD MORNING
-Meryl gets tired one night driving?
-"I'll drive for you!"
-Everyone regrets letting you touch that wheel.
-That poor car looks like if you were shaking a bag of skittles when you drive full speed over those sandy hills.
-You got Meryl thanking to god she put her seatbelt on
-Vash holding onto the back of the driver's seat for his life,, I think his nails left cuts in the seat itself jeez!
-Roberto's holding a hand out against your chest so you don't FLY out of your seat when you guys go airborne.
-And Wolfwood honestly wished the sandworms from earlier had eaten him.
-fuc- DID HIS PUNISHER JUST UNHOOK FROM THE ROOF-
-"STOP THE CAR STOP THE CAR!!"

“There was a lot of familiar guys on your team, did you see any of them???”
*Nods*
“I found a Mister Gir and big bro, but they had crazy hair dye going on. I guess it’s a style here...”
Tumblr media
*shakes*
“Really? I thought it would be...”
*motions*
“Oh. That makes sense.”
“...Though, when I think about it, I guess Khal was the only one that described your home world. The rest of your family are weird about it...”
‘...’
------
“Where did I go? It looked like they had this fishing game to the left. You know how much I like fishing- so I wanted to try it out.”
‘?’
“Turns out they don’t fish the right way here- they have this weird thing where they shoot the fish with water guns. I got the hang of it- but I didn’t stick around, ‘cause they didn’t hand me a fishing rod...”
‘...’
“Well, I bet that’s how we lost the most, anyway. There was a lot of Strawberry team in the fishing house...”
Tumblr media
“I don’t know what to do with mine. I saw a lot of kids giving them away to that urchin guy though.”
*Shake*
“Yeah, I don’t want to give mine to them either. It looked like they were eating them..”
“I kind of want to keep one. Do you?”
*nod*
“Maybe if we both ask nicely they’ll let us... “
“Hey- what if it turned into a person like you guys?”

Barry: the wizard (4x06)
I was legit terrified that kid was dead on the couch. Yikes.
Cons:
I think Jim, Janice's father, is one of the least rounded-out characters on the show. He kind of exists to be this ultimate threat, constantly hiding in the shadows. And that's... fine, I just always like it better when Barry's own actions directly lead him into danger. And I get that that's happening here, because he murdered Jim's daughter, but I still wish there was a tad more meat to his character and his motivations. A father wanting vengeance for his murdered child makes perfect sense, but what else does he have going on?
Pros:
Everything with Sally and John home alone was... pitch perfect in how insane and scary it was. First the chilling ennui of John's sadness at being left alone with his mother, and Sally's attempts at mothering quickly pivoting into drugging her child into a stupor so as to put them both out of their misery temporarily... God, it was just awful to watch. When Sally was trying to wake him up from the couch and he wasn't moving, I was super scared he was going to die of alcohol poisoning or something. Terrifying.
And then even more terrifying, we've got the figure all in black following Sally around, locking her in  her room... I love the way they shot that, because for a split second I thought the figure had slammed the door while inside the room, trapping Sally alone with the mystery person, but then instead it was locking her in. The circumstances of what exactly happened here are completely obscure to me. As John wakes up from his deep stupor on the couch, it's to hear his mother talking on the phone to Barry, leaving a message, asking him where he is. The mysterious assailant could be anything, from a crazy hallucination of Sally's, to vengeance from the guy she choked in the bathroom at the diner, to someone from Barry's past coming to haunt them... it's really not clear, and I love how messy it is. Frankly I was just relieved Sally was unable to figure out how to load a gun properly.
Meanwhile, Barry is listening to religious podcasts about the nature of sin, literally hunting through different talks looking for a justification for committing the sin of murder. This is so twisted, I love it. He's not willing to abandon his new belief system, his new framework of goodness and morality in this world. So he has to find a way that killing Gene Cousineau fits into that framework, and he'll bend and twist and shape it however he can to make that happen. Finally he gets that justification, only to see that Gene's grandson has come home, just as Barry was about to go in and kill him talking to his son, Leo.
But something Barry doesn't know? Gene isn't here to cooperate and tell the story of what happened. He's here to kill the movie project, because he doesn't want Barry immortalized, and he doesn't want Janice's story to be treated with disrespect. He claims he's a different man than he once was, no longer the narcissist who would have loved a project that painted him as a hero. The nature of this show is that it's difficult to know how much to believe him. His apology to Leo for shooting him left something to be desired, just kind of an "aw shucks, glad you didn't die" thing, although he does say he'll be making amends for the rest of his life. It's so difficult to know how much he means what he's saying!
Barry ends the episode trying to creep into the house after Cousineau, but he gets grabbed by Jim, who has him tied down in a secure room. Dun dun dunnnn.
The last subplot is of course Noho Hank's. We see that he's formed a company called "Nohobal", and that Fuches, released from prison, is there to join as security. Hank's business has a legit pedigree to it, but he's clearly still playing dirty with the way he runs things. Fuches makes the mistake of congratulating Hank on getting rid of Cristobal, which makes Hank kill the deal and threaten to kick Fuches and his men out of their nice digs, that Hank offered to them.
This is so true to Hank's behavior over the whole course of the show, that he would keep pushing forward even after tragedy, but he would try to build a narrative in his head about how the business started, paint Cristobal as a tragic hero who was killed by Hank's enemies. Hank gets praise for the sand pit thing, and takes that praise gladly, while mythologizing Cristobal's death and painting this picture of himself as a grieving supportive partner, fulfilling his original vision. It's a lie, but a comfortable one to justify the grand life he now finds himself living.
I can't believe how insanely close to the end of this show we are now. I truly have no idea where all these characters are going to be at the end of the show. What is the ending for Barry that doesn't just continue a cycle of violence, or leave him dead? Does it exist?

going to talk about my cringe scrimblo rq like i said i would at the end of that long ask o7 dr. insano posting under the cut
i have decided that i am doing ALL of them
✚  HEALTH :
I’m not going to call Dr. Insano the sickest motherfucker on Tbe Planet Earth, but I do think he gets ill a lot more than people usually do and I think a lot of the time it is his own damn fault. I’m not forgetting the murky ooze incident no matter how much I beg to.
I think his eyes are kind of messed up, as well. He’s almost entirely blind without his goggles, and his vision without them gets worse depending on how fucked up hypertime is trying to be today.
♕  CHILDHOOD :
There is no childhood, only Insano. Bwuhhhh.
Bits aside, Wayne was a stupid little cringe baby, and I count him as a Lil’ ‘Sano of sorts.. We have documented evidence of his childhood, and proof that he only got worse. I don’t think Wayne Schlumper in his adult years necessarily requires sympathy, but I think the home that spat out (a large fragment of) Insano and Linksano probably wasn’t as inwardly pleasant as the dress shirts and sweater vests would show outwardly. Incredibly smart, incredibly annoying suburban science kids that were placated with expensive toys by parents that didn’t care for their well-being. I always imagine that ‘nette, in their youth, was the only person that really ever tried being nice to the booth of them, until she couldn’t anymore. And while Oscar stopped, reflected, Wayne kept going into the obsession that would tear him into tiny, infinitesimal pieces.
I think if I were him, I would be thankful for that to only be real maybe once a week. But then I think about Wayne having to exist in what is essentially a hivemind of himself, and yet most of them are better than him. And it’s like huh. Fun.
✿  HAPPINESS :
Insano is a man of relatively simple pleasures. He wants world domination, he wants crazy amounts of sex. He’s a guy that gets bored really easily, impatient very easy, and generally just needs to get out of the house. I think that’s fun.
But I also like when we get more scenes of him as a person moreso than him as an archetypal supervillain. The sort of mutual hate-disgust he and Spoony had with each other at the start growing into Insano being genuinely delighted at saving him from certain death (or eternal torment, either one) makes me smile. Same with how he clearly loves his son very much. I like the little sense of family that the TSE goons have.
I think he’s happy when he gets to see Jaeris in pain btw.
␛  ANGER :
God’s pettiest, most petulant creature, thy name is Doctor Fucking Insano. Incredibly whiny to the point of tantrums all the time (this is just an observation of what’s onscreen), constantly screaming and howling at whatever’s causing him any issue. He has horrible anger problems, mostly.
I think they were starting to sort of chill out the farther TSE got, though, so I like to think the whole situation with Spoony was sort of sucking the rage out of him. Your funny little guy going missing, or worse, was kind of a bigger deal, and I think him not reacting to it with cartoonish rage, but genuine solemnity shows how important his stupid little goon was to him.
That being said, once more, I think he’s happy when he gets to see Jaeris in pain. I have nothing personal against Jaeris but I sooooo think he does. He thinks that cowboy is getting his sloppy seconds when he didn’t even really get the fresh firsts.
♆  BODY :
I talked about his eyes a second ago, but I like to think Insano is kind of stupid riddled with scars (mostly burns and the like). He’s been shot in the chest a shitton, most notably with a magic gun, and if we’re to take a certain murky ooze incident into account, he does incredibly unsafe shit in his lab regularly, to the detriment of his physical health.
It’s impossible to keep track of his scars, though, since they like to shuffle a bit depending on how hypertime is feeling. Clonesano doesn’t really have any of the scars, or at least as many, compared to Bonafide Earth-4W Doctor Insano’s (recognized as such pre-hypertime fuckery) carefully cultured collection. I’d like to keep the chest scars somewhat consistent, though. Linkara is an important part of his life, and all.
ϡ  MENTAL STATE :
Jesus fuck
ღ  LOVE / SEXUALITY :
Mr. Clumsily Confirmed Bisexual, I also always see him as genderfluid.
†  RELIGION :
I think Insano only really believes in a god if he’s trying to get Linkara to text him back (it won’t work), or if he’s cursing it’s name at his own existence while having a bad one. On the other hand, there’s also the days where he’s his own God. He definitely has a God complex at the least, and seems quite comfortable in this fact. What else would you call a Champion of a concept, anyways?
✄ PET PEEVE :
I’m keeping the canon answer. The fact that he hate hate HATES Ferris Bueller’s Day Off because the title character essentially does everything he wants to do but gets no shit for it is fucking hilarious. Doctor. Have you tried not being cringe. You fuckhead.
☂  FOOD :
Unhealthy, unhealthy, unhealthy. Junk food, can food, and freezer food addict simply on the basis that he’ll forget what he has around and needs it not to spoil. Despite this, will go days without actual meals, and will steal snacks from Spoony as he sees fit (not even on necessity, either).
I also think he gets really into projects with making food, though. Like yogurt and bread and pickled vegetables, shit like that, but he’s just really into it to the point where’s he’s genetically engineering his own cucumbers for his spicy pickled vegetable medley and it’s a whole ordeal that makes the house smell like vinegar for weeks. He also makes sure to feed his son well (and in emergency situations, like the fridge moment, instruct Spoony on how to do so as well).

hey what’s up hope u don’t mind but this inspired me to write a fic. blowing u a kiss for all ur great ideas.
(adding the beginning of the fic below the cut to save u from so much scrolling)
Despite what others may say, Danny swears he didn’t mean to make this a habit. It was just that he was the only one there, or the only one who could do something, and he’s not the kind of person to just walk away when he could help.
There’s a lot of excuses he could make, really, but it all boils down to this: Danny is on an enforced vacation from heroing but even that can’t stop him from getting involved. It’s just not in his nature to stand aside and let others take care of everything.
Jazz would say it’s the result of the adults in his life failing him repeatedly that pushes him to try to take responsibility for everything. Danny believes that being a good person isn’t something that can just be turned off.
So he’s not saving people. He’s not jumping into fights and going ghost to stop criminals. He’s just offering a helping hand to the heroes that likely never get help from the people they’re protecting.
And since he’s technically not acting as a hero—no pointing in risking his identity as Phantom in this dimension, even though he’s confirmed that there’s no version of the GIW here—no one back at home can yell at him for not abiding by the terms they set out before kicking him into a portal leading to another dimension. Clockwork probably helped them find the right one; a world with so many heroes it doesn’t need his help at all.
Still, he offers it.
It’s just basic courtesy, really. Danny is a visitor in their dimension, so he might as well be a good guest.
“You good?” he asks Red Hood, who took a solid few hits to the head during the fight. He holds out the gun that was knocked out of his hand, and Red Hood stares down at it, unmoving, for a solid minute before he takes it back .
“Yeah, I’m fine. What are you doing, kid? You shouldn’t be getting this close to fights.”
Danny shrugs. “I was hiding and out of the way until you knocked the last one out. I wouldn’t have gotten hurt.”
“Still—”
“Anyways!” Danny cuts him off, “You need any first aid? I got a kit in my backpack that has some pain relievers.”
Red Hood stares at him. Even though his face is hidden behind the cracked helmet, the weight of his undivided attention is heavy. “You’re the kid who dropped a bag of batarangs on Batman’s head, aren’t you?”
“Huh? Why do you know about that?”
“You are!” Red Hood laughs, “Holy shit! Kid, hearing about that made my week. How’d you get the drop on the old Bat anyways?”
“What, like it’s hard? I just waited for him to stop beating up a mugger, then I dropped it on him. Easy, really.”
“He’s been going crazy trying to figure out how he missed you. I haven’t seen him that off guard in years.” Red Hood pats Danny’s shoulder. “Nice one, kid. How about I treat you to a burger or something for that?”
“Nah, I’m good,” Danny says, slipping out of Red Hood’s grip. He takes a step back, then smiles brightly and waves. “See you around, Mr. Hood!”
“Wait—”
Danny doesn’t wait. He turns on his heel and speedwalks away, turning the corner and going invisible just before Red Hood catches up to him.
“The hell? Where’d he go?” he hears Red Hood say, but he’s already running down the street before he can hear anything else.
As much as he enjoys helping heroes, hanging out with them, especially ones trained by Batman, the detective hero, is just inviting trouble. Danny has enough of that just from existing. He doesn’t need any bats sniffing around for his secrets, especially considering the fact that he doesn’t exist in this dimension.
No one said he needed to keep it a secret, but it sure feels like a secret. So he runs and thinks that maybe, just maybe, taking a break from Gotham would be good.
(“How did you lose him?” Tim asks, and Jason throws his hands in the air, frustrated.
“I don’t know! He was just gone!”
“God, B’s gonna lose him mind looking for this kid.”
Dick steals Tim’s mug, takes a sip, then makes a face at how bitter the coffee is. “Doesn’t he pop up out of nowhere to help us? Maybe we don’t need to find him. Maybe we can make him come to us.”
“You might be onto something, Goldie,” Jason says. A glance at Tim shows that he’s already thinking up plans, ways to lightly endanger himself to get the attention of their local, mysterious helper.
In fact, Jason already has a few ideas of his own, mainly pushing all his brothers off of buildings and hoping their helper takes notice. At least this investigation will be fun for him.)
. . .
(read the rest of danny fenton, hero helper extraordinaire on ao3 bc it’s 6k+ and i am not formatting all that for tumblr lol)
Danny phantom gets punted into the DC dimension and goes absolutely mother hen on EVERYONE.
This guy is so worried about them he gangs up with batmans kids to get him to consider therapy, buys Billy Batson snacks and new clothes, gives the Flashes really super high metabolism granola bars that he made himself, brings back the queen family's arrows from where they got left around the city, stuff like that.
He eventually kinda becomes the DC's guardian angel of superheros as they start to realize he's visited and helped all of them (they dont really know how to feel about the fact that he seems to know most of their identities but they can't really do anything about that)
Best part is? He's doing it as fenton. No one knows he's a ghost, they just think he's Some Dude.

Cydonia (Mars) - Wikipedia
This is our son's brother and his body has been scanned many many times and they confirmed it and his wife is decomposed in her grave and it's gone. They were friends and they grew up he grew up with them and knew them that's why he's upset. He knew he was on the wrong side of the tracks but he was his brother. And Hera was upset too and Tommy have his relentless about it says it's going to be us and all this garbage has plans to make him super giant and he doesn't know what he's doing. He says some of his kids came back and they're gone and somehow a frozen under the cities and he says it wasn't his doing but others are around potentially but he's a pig but still somebody plan to put a base in there so they said and it's not true it might be aliens and we did direct it to happen and what you see in the movie is an educational film why you do not mess with us and you had Dave do a lot of this and you ruined him and ruined yourself it's very smart life you crapped all over him and all of you did it and you're going to pay for it because he lost a lot of Intel up there because of you. But the face is there and that's where you rest that's where he rests and he heard it earlier at the apartment and but he didn't really believe it that much but here he does so he's asking a few people to make a memorial to them here in the park they know who they are they have to get together one more time
Thor Freya
We're going to mess him up and we're going to make this memorial in the park a small one like you said with just a plaque but a big one up there in New York City and she's the Statue of Liberty for crying out loud the sky is a nutcase ruined her and him and then fine just sitting there like you are for days and days on end there's a problem with him
Justin
Thank you Justin
Zues Hera
We have to report that he's been a good person has been helping and these guys are out of control and they're getting abused and we can't stop it from happening we don't know where and we can't get to it some reason they're both preventing it they think they can take it over and they're all going to be destroyed because of it and they know it and don't act very mad about it we like them to try and do something and he says Doctor Octavio and somehow it is Tommy F who's wearing the gear that Trump will or less help design it was him believe it or not he was doing stuff like that occasionally and it's better than a motorcycle Cherry cheeseman he knows but he's doing it too so they're going to go up there and try and find it and God bless him for trying so hard and figuring it out we'd always screwed and what an effort
Joe m
I'm in on this too but really we're going to make the memorial and we see the effect
Preston
The clones are walking by and making sure it sticks but this is more appropriate place than a neighborhood although we might build a new house or two and call it a certain name like cydonia and they'll try and get our son into it and we're going to get Tommy F into it and from scratch a new one with the new block. We're going to do that because Dave is the one who made the block back then
Mac daddy
There's a lot of us who feel bad for it and feel bad about it actually and it's me too and I was there the whole time watching them their friends hanging out nothing was wrong you got in fights a little bit and nothing happened it's very strange he wasn't that mad about getting shot at knows Dave's a crazy man some kind of gunslinger back then so he didn't do anything or say anything you meant not to and this guy makes a big deal out of everything and he's the one name the gun at him and shooting at him and that's why he was doing it so I remember him saying one day we're in trouble and you mentioned a few names so he's got all these aliases he's blaming everybody for everything and me and Dave are stuck with him that really hit home he's right there and he's right there so I know what it's like Paul hesterberg's father and that's me

okay so i AM going to talk about the problems with shiver but in a serious way. keeping in mind i’ve read the books a few times but it’s been at least a year or two since i did more than pick through them, so. memory shot
i’m also trying to be as factual and neutral as possible but i will give my personal opinion on everything and i’m biased bc i love this book so it is. generally critical-positive.
shiver & neurodivergence/mental health
while it’s not explicitly stated, grace’s mom (potentially dad?) and her best friend rachel are both heavily adhd-coded. rachel is described as “ditzy” and is always hyper and excitable. i think she’s a little bit stereotypical, a little over the top, but nothing about her strikes me as especially bad rep. grace’s mom, on the other hand, is incredibly distracted and always off doing The Art, and neither of grace’s parents ever have time for her or remember that she exists. so. there’s that.
idk i have adhd and i don’t really have a problem with it, i feel like rachel’s coding was very deliberate and the parents’ less so. the parents’ actions are definitely never excused just bc they’re flighty and distractible, which is correct, it’s still their job to raise their kid regardless of their issues. but i won’t speak for everyone.
second, salem is one of the minor wolf pack members, characterized by his “running eye” and the implication that he’s not All There. we don’t see enough of him in flashbacks to really tell what’s going on there, but he seems to have a solid place in the pack as both a wolf and a human. i always felt like him Looking Crazy was overkill, but again, we only see him as a human in flashbacks, and very rarely, so i can’t draw many conclusions.
there’s also shelby and jack, two side characters who are frequently referred to as “psycho” or “psychotic.” mostly by isabel. i’m inclined to let this slide with a critical look bc the book did come out in 2009, and isabel is absolutely the kind of girl who would use those words. she’s mean. but the language and the implications are there, and ofc i don’t experience psychosis so i can’t say it’s fine or not definitively.
we see shelby more. she seems to lack empathy and have a sadistic side, as shown by her torturing a bird and releasing mr. darrio’s dogs to attack (and nearly kill) paul. beck implies once that she comes from an abusive home, so it’s possible she has a personality disorder caused by trauma. i don’t know enough about personality disorders to attempt to diagnose her, though. she’s also shown to have an obsession with sam, who is about her age, talking about them being mates as wolves someday when they’re both pre-teens. she likes being a wolf for the escapism, which is fair, actually. she does attempt to kill both grace and sam a couple of times and successfully kills grace’s friend olivia. i think shelby is super scary and interesting but there’s also definitely some very ugly implications there. she dies unredeemed.
jack is isabel’s brother who is presumed dead in a wolf attack until he shows up as a werewolf. pre-wolf, he’s known to be violent and a bully, and actually provoked the pack to attack him by shooting them with a BB gun. as a wolf he is mostly unstable and violent, but doesn’t kill anything more consequential than his family dog. ouch. he does, however, kidnap grace at one point in an attempt to find a “cure” for werewolfism, and would have killed her if she didn’t comply. he just seems to have a lot of anger management issues, to be quite honest. he does die in the process of actually curing his werewolf-ness and this is treated as sad. it’s definitely a horrific way to go (untreated bacterial meningitis. the idea is you burn the wolf out via fever, then hope you can treat the meningitis in time. did not work for him). i think jack is just generally a dick and isabel calls him a ps*cho bc that’s how she is.
finally, there’s cole, who as i mentioned is deeply suicidal and he does drugs and becomes a werewolf about it. he also gets a whole book to himself, it’s great. he’s…basically just your standard bad boy rockstar who’s actually a tortured genius who’s actually an asshole, but he has Growth. i love him, personally. i can’t think of anything wrong with his portrayal in the books but i thought i’d include him in the interest of thoroughness.
shiver & representation.
there are zero (0) characters of color in shiver. it’s set in minnesota. the one exception MIGHT be paul, who is described as “dark” (not dark-skinned or dark-haired, just dark) and is black in wolf form. if you do decide that paul counts, he does die, but so do like, a fuckton of characters, and he does make it through most of three books iirc. werewolves are NOT a racism allegory in this series. and i’m white, so again, not my place to decide, but i think “no poc” is at least a step above “poc but they’re all treated horribly.”
originally this was just a race section but i’m back to add that (other than the section above), there are no characters from marginalized groups at all. again, it’s better than bad rep, and sign of the times and all, but it’s…definitely a thing.
shiver & cliches
yeah now that we’ve gotten through the ~problematic~ bits we gotta address the “twilight knockoff cashgrab” allegations. i have not read twilight (i feel so unqualified to be doing this?? i have no expertise on anything), BUT my main impressions are:
vampires
super special immune to vampires MC
werewolves
love triangle
so, shiver has werewolves. that’s it. the werewolves in shiver turn into regular old wolves every winter, then to humans in the summer. every year, it takes less cold to turn them wolves and more heat to turn them human, shortening their human time, until roughly 20 years in they become wolves forever. no special powers, no imprinting mess, nada.
(if you’re curious the book explains that moving to a warm climate doesn’t work. some of the pack moved to texas, but the constant heat just made them hypersensitive to cold and one of them got turned by air conditioning. you can cure werewolfism with an extremely high fever, but this also obviously has a high chance of killing the human as well.)
no vampires. no love triangle. one dude has an obvious crush on grace but she brushes him off even before sam is an option.
technically grace is a little bit special because she was attacked by wolves but didn’t turn. this is bc soon after she was locked in a hot car by her parents while also having the flu, and, you guessed it, got hot enough to cook the wolf out of her. she does still have some wolf traits like the ability to communicate with them in their telepathic image-language a bit. her experience is how they figure out the cure later on, but it’s not permanent and she does eventually become a werewolf as well. she and sam do have a Special Connection, but it’s because he was the wolf who dragged her away from the pack when they attacked her as a kid, and she remembered and watched him in the woods after that while he developed a crush.
the only twilight things i know a lot about are breaking dawn pt 2 the movie and that is absolutely nothing like shiver, lol. there’s no politics in shiver, there’s barely even a wolf pack by the time the current plot happens.
i will actually talk about the “cashgrab” element in another post bc it started getting too long so stay tuned
shiver & unproblematic crimes
i think the book uses “sexy” as a descriptor like, four times, and i hate that.
i think rachel is kinda annoying.
sam has never done anything wrong ever in his life and has so much plot armor. actually i don’t think this is a problem. i love him and he deserves everything
“lovely summer girl” is not actually that great. it’s very sweet but eh. some of sam’s other bits of lyrics throughout the book are cool though
the tl;dr of all of this is that shiver has some uncomfortable issues. but i don’t personally think that they make it unreadable or not worthwhile if you’re interested in that kind of thing. it is a little bit cringe at times, it’s not stiefvater’s best, but it’s good at being disturbing and devastating and romantic, which is the point.

Tumblr media
Ever since Jason Dean got that camera, you knew it was going to be a nightmare.
He was visibly excited to start taking pictures with her, and the only good part about it was that at least he'd given up his gun for his newest gift. Instead of pointing that hideous and highly dangerous thing at his friends, he would point the camera and party with the flash popping.
Things kind of got worse when you guys were chosen to do a job together, and when he offered his house so they could find what they needed, you knew even more that it wouldn't be a good idea.
However, the passage of time surprised you. JD became more and more focused on the work, and in a few minutes of research, you already had the texts ready and a poster in the planning.
As soon as they finished the theoretical part of the work, JD guided you to the kitchen and offered you a quick snack. His father was never home, and he had an enormous sense of responsibility that was surprising, despite the bad boy pose he held in Westerberg.
“Hey, (Y\N), say cheese!”
JD's camera flash nearly blinded your eyes, and you covered your face so you wouldn't get hit quickly. He smirked, proud of himself for having managed to take you by surprise.
“Oh come on, strike a prettier pose please!” he asked, looking at the photo in the viewfinder. You rolled your eyes as you bit into the last bite of your sandwich. “I promise I'll just take one picture, (Y\N), I really do!”
"For God's sake..." you grunted and tried to strike a pose to please JD. He was smiling still looking into the camera lens when the flash invaded his eyes again. “Ready, satisfied?”
“You are a perfect model!” he celebrated. “Can I get one more?”
“No, JD.”
“Come on, just one more!”
Once again, you rolled your eyes, huffing and striking some other pose. You started to wonder if he hadn't purposely tried to sabotage the choice of work partners so he could use the excuse and take pictures of you...
JD was the kind of perverted boy who saw pictures of naked women all the time, he was almost certain to have wild ideas like this...
“So beautiful…” he whispered, catching you off guard. Of course, he made the perfect kind of boy for these situations… you always knew it was his plan.
“You're not going to make me undress here, are you?” you asked, letting the impulse slip from your lips without realizing it. JD smirked.
"You are kidding? What kind of guy do you think I am, (Y\N)?”
Now he's the one kidding. He was teasing you. And having him standing there looking too innocent and without ulterior motives was very frustrating for you. You didn't want to admit that you really liked JD and that you were easily attracted to him and all that pose. But it was impossible.
“(Y\N), can I ask you to sit at the counter, just for one last photo?” he asked suddenly. “I swear this will be the last photo I take...”
You didn't roll your eyes this time, you climbed up on his kitchen counter and straightened your body to strike a pose. JD was so close, so close you could feel and get drunk from the scent of him in your nostrils. The smell of nicotine mixed with masculine perfume made you crazy.
"You look so hot…posing for me…"
Suddenly, JD acted on impulse, and you ended up reciprocating on impulse, too. Throwing the camera to the floor, not caring if it had broken or not, he approached you fiercely and pressed his lips to yours in a desperate, wild kiss that left you breathless for the first few seconds.
He grabbed the back of your neck and pulled you closer, just so he could enjoy the taste of her lips on his even more. Without realizing it, you started to moan, completely losing your mind in that situation. He smirked at your lips and slid his tongue one last time before kissing your neck.
“Mind if I leave marks?” he whispered. You gasped but shook your head. "Fine, because I'm not going to have mercy on you like this, all surrendered to me...", he started to bite her neck eagerly, kissing your weakest point and clinging to your legs.
Suddenly, the moans became louder and more intense. You felt like you were going to explode at any moment when he lifted your shirt and surprised you by going straight for her breasts.
“JD, please!”
His mischievous laugh made you even more aroused.
With subtlety, he laid you down on the counter and didn't hesitate to go to your private parts. Good thing Bud Dean wasn't home, or things were going to get rough for the two of you. JD gasped for the first time as he went back to whispering in your ear:
“So fucking hot...”
So you couldn't take it. It really exploded at the height of the thing. He smiled, tasting the taste of you and slid onto the counter to lie down next to you. With a teasing kiss on your earlobe, JD held you in his arms and whispered once more:
“Can you believe me if I say the photo was just an excuse to have sex with you?”
You laughed. "I believe. Was breaking the camera in your plans too, Dean?”
He sucked your lip maliciously. “No, but I don't give a fuck about it. I can get another one by playing the sucker old Bud. Now, you, princess, are not so easy to conquer, are you?”
It was a dangerous game, but loving Jason Dean and having the chance to fuck him after years of pent-up desire was a dream come true for you.

to be an assassin... those words that karasuma spoke to them sat so heavily on his chest, what did it mean to take someone's life. did they really have the guts to take a life from someone... he almost himself, nearly gave in to his rage and killed takaoka in a bloodlust fit. nagisa had it in him if anyone did, and almost fell victim to his own clouded mindset of pure fury. the anger bubbling beneath the skin of such and unsuspecting young kid... a kid that knows what it means to be expendable, to be a pawn in a game that others are using to cover up their mistakes.
❝ do you like... ever wonder why i actually had that knife when we first met ?? ❞ he sputtered out finally, nagisa's home life... seemed tidy, neat, like he had everything a kid could have wanted. game systems, computer, a full fridge, his own personal space... a normal, japanese household. why would a middle school kid, have any need for weapons on his body... real or fake ?? nagisa was one of the only few, (other than chiba and haiyami) to hold real weapons, they held real guns, and he held a real knife.
❝ you have to promise, that you're not gonna like... tell anyone. i'm kinda gonna be breaking a government nda i signed by telling you. i know... that sounds crazy, but if anyone finds out i'm telling you this, i'm kind of kicked out of my class i'm in, and both of us get our memories wiped. ❞ a deep breath.
❝ this is between us— okay, byan ?? ❞ he didn't... want to go missing one day and the other to just think that he up and ghosted them. especially after the reaper kidnapping them (pretty much) and putting bombs on their necks ?? one click and they all could have been done for. you can tell he was nervous... fingers squishing the packaged snack he had yet to unwrap... the pancake and bean paste flattening.
Tumblr media
ㅤgaze fixed on the tv, a half-eaten dorayaki in their hands, byan was at ease. it still felt weird, being at nagisa's house — with how rare it was to be here, being unwelcome any time his mother wasn't away on a business trip, there was always this feeling of not belonging hanging over them. it was something they felt whenever they were in such a normal, tidy home, but being invited to this one so infrequently certainly intensified it. it was nothing a few good snacks and a bit of joking around with their friend couldn't distract them from though, allowing for them to feel quite content in this moment.
ㅤ—until nagisa changed up the entire vibe of the living room with one question, anyway.
ㅤㅤ" ...huh? "ㅤmouth still full, byan paused mid-chew to pull their attention away from the television and glance over. that was an awfully cryptic question. it was the sort of thing they wouldn't think much of normally, always interested in crazy stories and not terribly easy to shock with such things, but the way he asked it... he sounded so serious. like this was something heavy that had been weighing on him for a while.
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤ" i dunno. "ㅤanswer muffled by the food in their mouth, they paused again in order to swallow, then proceeded to shrug in a manner far too casual for the intense atmosphere the other had created.ㅤ" depends what it is, but prob'ly. i've seen some crazy shit, been through stuff a lotta people wouldn't believe, so. if anyone's gonna believe you, it's prob'ly me. "

~Metal Family headcanons~
These are like my... general hcs)? which means I didn't include my main hc that Glam, Ches and Vicky are polyamorous, married and started dating after Glam met Vicky, and absolutely everything that implies for the kids and the relationships between each member of the fam. Maybe I'll make a separate post for that or maybe not! Who knows lkfwnlfqnf
Glam
Bisexual
Glam has constant nightmares and ocasional night terrors ever since he ran away home and is an active sleep walker. Ches helped him through the worse ones when they were younger, and learned how to deal with them, always preferring not to wake him up but being with him until the episode passed. Vicky has learned how to deal with them, though she normally asks Ches for advice with it cuz she comes out short sometimes.
He has PTSD. I bet it's diagnosed too, he takes medication and goes to therapy, it doesn't mean he still doesn't have his bad days anyway. He's trying to get better.
Glam has talked to Vicky about his past, his father and his family. This is a direct contradiction of Alina's confirmation that Glam doesn't talk about it with anyone but man FUCK THAT. We love good communication in this house, Vicky tries her best to help him, but there's only so much she can do to help.
Glam enjoys gardening, cooking and making models, he also likes doing his make up, painting his nails and dressing up in fancy, extravagant clothes even if he has nowhere important to go.
He likes taking care of everyone's hair, and constantly helps Vicky brush her hair cuz there's so much of it, Dee when he gets stressed over how tangled it can get, buys Ches hair products so he actually takes care of it, and chases Heavy so the kid actually washes, untangles and brushes his hair.
This one is kind of weird, but I refuse to think any adult in the family is unarmed at any time. Glam owns a taser and pepper spray. They're bright pink and sparkly.
This man cried his eyes out while watching Coco. He's hell to watch movies with cuz he talks and predicts what's gonna happen during the movie, judges them with scores at the end and all.
Vicky
Also bisexual!
Vicky's the one who does everyone's laundry most of the time. She prefers it that way since she's the only one that knows how to wash their black clothes so the colors stay vibrant. (This is based on my gf shaming everyone but Vicky cuz their black clothes always look so muted and almost gray, but Vicky's whole outfit is always the same vibrant black colors, so we decided that neither Glam or the kids know how to wash dark clothes)
She has anger issues, if it isn't obvious. I think she also has PTSD, mainly survivor's guilt due to her surviving the accident her brother died in. She blames herself and cannot bear to talk about it, in some sort of deep denial. If she can't remember, it can't hurt as much, right?
She has scars on the right side of her back and her hip, from the road rash she got on her brother's accident, she never treated it due to grief and it scarred badly. Apart from that, the scar of the caesarean section from Heavy's birth. She doesn't really mind both of them, they happened, nothing to do about them.
She likes watching boxing competitions, brawling matches and motorcycle repairing on TV. Loves doing BBQ's and going to the pool. Also an enjoyer of teasing her kids, kissing and loving her husband at random times, spending time drinking and bonding with Ches and bragging about her family and punching anyone who thinks they're not that cool.
Not particularly a fan of make up, skirts and dresses or any traditionally femenine-perceived stuff. But has been making exceptions due to Glam and Ches being unashamed of being seen as femenine, and actually rocking the looks. The internalized misogyny is kind of slowly dissapearing.
Apart from the guns she carries in each arm (I mean her biceps, have you looked at the size of those?? She strong) she has brass knuckles on her at all times. Glam gifts her new ones sometimes, she loves having multiple choices to punch people teeth in.
Loves horror, thrillers and action movies. Falls asleep during rom-coms and dramas. Ironically, loves gossip and talking shit about people. Enjoys hearing Ches talks about the gossip going on in the nursery home even if she doesn't know who the hell he's talking about.
Rest of the family under the cut!
Heavy
Heavy is a trans boy! He doesn't know his sexuality yet though, he's still figuring himself out. When he's older, i think he definitely dated some men but had better luck with girls.
Heavy has had innocent crushes on some girls on his class before, but they never turn into anything more cuz he's not the best at expressing himself. He follows the bother-the-girl-to-death-until-she-hates-you gimmick, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.
I'm sorry to break this to u but Heavy totally had an among us phase, and uses so much reddit and twitch slang... You know he does.
Likes bullying and teasing his brother to death. You know that when Dee had his first romance, Heavy was ALL up in his business being a tease and a bad attempt at a wingman. He means well tho.
He's not squeamish at all. Also has great pain resistance. This kid has picked cockroaches with his bare hands and loves cats, of course the cats have scratched him. He's tough!
Grows up to be the charming himbo he was always destined to be.
Dee
I hc him as demisexual. Kind of inherited his dad's tastes for the takes no crap, intimidating but pretty kind of people.
Can't cook. He tries but he can only do basics like rice, cereal, chicken nuggets or eggs. Complicated meals always burn or don't taste like anything at all. It drives him crazy.
Dee was a quiet and very well behaved toddler before Heavy was born. He never threw tantrums or got whims. After Heavy was born though, and despite the fact he understood his brother was small and needed special care, he started craving attention often and cried and got mad at little things. Typical jealousy of the oldest sibling.
The first time Dee fell in love with someone, he didn't recognize it was love at first. He just thought his interest on the person was born out of curiosity and aesthetic attraction, but as soon as he realized he seeked validation and companionship, that he liked seeing them smile, that he wanted to protect them, that he yearned for more time alone with them and that he wanted more than what just a simple friendship implied, it was an instant 'oh hell no'. He wanted those feelings to get the hell away, but unfortunately, they were there to stay.
Canonically likes MLP, psychological and horror anime like Death note and Hellsing, so I'm deciding he also watched Death Parade, had a FNAF phase, is very into The Walten Files. This guy enjoys any kind of specially dark ARG's and knows a ton of lore of real crime, unsolved cases, ghost appearances and other stuff. Doesn't believe in the supernatural, but sure is entertained by it.
He's a mess at romance. Flirting? His attempts at compliments are hardly flattering. Giving gifts? The best he can manage is jewelry and you can kind of tell he asked his dad for help. Dates? He's so nervous he's silent for most of it, but begins getting comfortable and having fun if his partner really knows how to get him down from his negativity cloud.
Ches
Pansexual.
He's very good with kids. He has the patience of a saint and he's laid-back, chill and fun but still is an authority figure who knows how to put limits. Sure, he's gonna let the kids light up a house on fire BUT hey, now they know everything about fire precautions, burns and how to treat them AND how to get away with arson. What an educational evening, am I right?
Due to certain info from the "Goodbye" official comic, I headcanon Ches as depressed. I don't want to elaborate a lot 'cuz of spoilers, but... God, everything related to his mom fucking hurts, man. How did he deal with all that?
Ches has been Dee and Heavy's babysitter so many times he cannot count them with all his fingers. He learned how to put those kids to sleep almost immediately (Sing Bon Jovi's "This ain't a love song" and any cheesy love song in a slow lullaby style and they're out), which movie were their favorite as kids (Heavy loved 'Monsters Inc.' and Dee never looked away during 'Meet the Robinsons'), how to console them after nightmares (Heavy needed reassurance, sweet words, and to be with someone until he fell asleep again. Dee just had to be tucked in, get his nightlight turned on and kissed in the forehead). He practically raised those kids along with Vicky and Glam.
More than once, Dee and Heavy have slipped and called Ches "Dad". Ches immediately gets his shit eating grin on and answers "Yes, son?" and does a couple of dad jokes just to mess and embarrass them. He's actually very flattered and surprised at how proud of himself he is for being a father figure to both kids.
Has a scar on the left side of his forehead due to a bottle his mom threw at him when he was younger, around the time he met Glam. He hates the scar with passion, it's a permanent reminder of the fact she never cared, that's why he always keeps it covered with his headband. Gets sad about it sometimes.
Ches likes to spend his time with a group of grannies of the nearby nursing home. He genuinely considers them his friends and gossips and hangs out with all of them on weekends. Bingo, billiards, walks in the park, soap opera marathons, you name it. I even designed them, gave them names and backstories... God, i just love the concept too much. I'll make some art about Ches and his granny gang FOR SURE, you're NOT ready for them.
Carries a pocket knife on him at all times. This man grew up on a bad neighborhood and absolutely knows how to defend himself, he can be intimidating when he wants to be and will pose a threat if needed. He's fucking terrifying when genuinely mad. Just cause he looks harmless doesn't mean he is, darling.
That would be all!

Tumblr media
Natasha Romanoff has lived a lot of lives. She has been through more than most.
Nat had been taken as an infant by an organization that trained little girls to become lethal assassins.
She was psychologically conditioned to become a killer, having taken more lives than she could count.
Eventually, Natasha had managed to break free from the cage she was forced into and was recruited as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent; it was a new start for her, an opportunity to compensate for the red in her ledger.
So, Natasha took her job seriously, saving as many people as she could, even more so when she became an Avenger; one of earth’s mightiest heroes.
Natasha found something in the team that she never really had before; a family. She found a home within the dysfunctional team she had been recruited into.
Not only did Natasha find a family within the Avengers; she also found the love of her life.
Natasha hadn’t even considered the possibility of ever finding love.
For starters, the Red Room had instilled the concept that love was nothing but a distraction; a liability.
She had been taught that love was for children and it was nothing but a weakness that needed to be avoided at all costs.
She was quite literally programmed to be emotionally closed off and to always have her guard up. Letting someone into her heart was a risk she didn’t want to take.
When Natasha gained her independence from the organization, she had to do a lot of self-discovering. She had never been able to be her own person, but now that she could, she quickly learned that she didn’t even know herself.
However, it was Natasha’s insecurities that truly turned her off from the entire idea of love.
How could any ever possibly love her? She thought she was a monster for the things she’d done. She has done the unspeakable since ever she was a child.
What if she wasn’t enough? What if her baggage was too much for someone else to carry? She didn’t want to be a burden. She didn’t want to have to protect someone, just to fail them like she had failed so many others.
Natasha was positive that no one would ever be crazy enough to love her.
Little did she know, she would end up finding someone crazy enough to do so; you.
•❅──────────────── ‎⧗ ────────────────❅•
When the Avengers were formed, you were extremely nervous about it.
All of the files that you’ve read on your new teammates were unbelievable; they were all phenomenal in their own rights. A super-soldier, a god, a genius, a trained-spy.
You were a spy yourself, so you knew exactly who Natasha Romanoff was. She was a S.H.I.E.L.D legend, the best of the best.
You were more nervous about meeting her than anyone else. What if she judged you? What if she didn’t think you were good enough to be an agent, let alone an Avenger?
Not only was she your superior, but she was also your crush. Yeah, you’d never even met the woman before, but you were crushing on her hard.
She was drop-dead gorgeous, but also quite literally a deadly force. Natasha could easily take down anyone she wanted to, and honestly, you wanted to be one of those lucky people.
When you met Natasha for the first time, you were a flustered mess. The redhead found it amusing, how your cheeks turned a bright shade of red and you stumbled over your words as you praised her work.
Natasha never told you this, but she was immediately smitten the moment she laid eyes on you.
There was a kindness and positivity that just radiated off of you and it was extremely contagious.
You were this beaming ball of light that lit up the darkest parts of her soul.
•❅──────────────── ‎⧗ ────────────────❅•
You got to know Natasha extremely well while being on the team. From observing her closely and paying very close attention to her actions, you had managed to pick up on little things.
She didn’t put any creamer or sugar in her sugar; opting for strong, black coffee.
She was kind of a clean freak. If she saw something out of place, she would be quick to put it in the correct place or position.
When she was happy, she would let a small smirk cross her features. When she was annoyed, she would raise her eyebrows.
When she was stressed out or angry, three little creases would appear on her forehead as her eyebrows would knit together tightly; a subtle frown on her face.
Of course, when you began dating the redhead, you didn’t really have to survey her so closely anymore because she’d tell you things herself.
No matter the circumstances, Natasha would always come to you and rant about it. Whether it was about how shitty a mission went or how she beat Clint’s ass during training; you were the only person she wanted to tell.
Natasha had opened up to you, something she never did with anyone. She told you all about her past.
•❅──────────────── ‎⧗ ────────────────❅•
You had some knowledge of Natasha’s previous life, considering it was in her files, but you didn’t realize just how horrible her childhood truly was.
The Red Room, the heavy weight of guilt that rests on her shoulders, the nightmares that forced her to relive the murders she committed, her time as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, and becoming an Avenger.
She’d go on and on about her road to redemption or ‘clearing the red out of her ledger.’
Natasha was terrified when she told you about her demons. She figured you were going to leave her the second she finished talking, waiting for you to get up and walk out the door, but you didn’t.
So, you completely caught her off guard when you pulled her into a bone-crushing hug, placing a soft kiss onto her temple, the redhead relaxing in your embrace.
“You’re the strongest person I know. It’s not your fault, you were forced and conditioned to do the things you did.”
Natasha focused on the sound of your voice and took in your words as you softly caressed her red locks with one hand.
“Baby, the amount of respect I have for you is immeasurable. I applaud you for turning your life around for the better. I’m so fucking proud of you.”
Your words had brought tears to Natasha’s eyes, which was a rare occurrence.
She was expecting you to run for the hills, but you chose to pull her closer instead.
In that moment, Natasha knew she never had to be afraid of love again.
You were the most understanding and accepting person she’d ever met.
You would never judge her for her worst mistakes; Natasha had found the one for her and she wasn’t ever going to let go.
•❅──────────────── ‎⧗ ────────────────❅•
Now, a few months later and a year into your relationship with the Russian, you were both lying in bed and cuddling.
You were both watching a movie when a particular scene came on. It was of a family gathering around a Christmas tree, children excitedly opening up presents with gleeful smiles across their faces.
“You know, my sister and I got to take pictures with a Christmas tree once.” Natasha spoke, her eyes fixated on the screen.
You looked up at her in shock. You didn’t know that Natasha had a sister. She told you that she didn’t even so much as know her parent’s names.
Natasha looked down and noticed your confused expression. She reached for the remote on the bedside table and paused the movie before returning her gaze to you.
“There was a mission I was assigned to in Ohio, as a kid. I was assigned to play the daughter of two other Russian spies, Alexei and Melina. It wasn’t just me though, there was a little girl who was assigned as my younger sister. Her name is Yelena.”
Natasha had a reminiscent, happy smile on her face as she recalled the brief period time of her childhood. She looked absolutely adorable as she rambled on about this part of her childhood.
“We took photoshoots of various holidays to make our family look more realistic. My favorite one was Christmas. Even though I knew they were just empty boxes, I wanted to rip open every single one.”
Natasha let out a small giggle at the thought. Even though she had a smile on her face, you could feel and hear the underlying tone of sadness in her voice.
“Yelena and I would spend hours outside, just playing together. Swinging on the swing-sets, looking up at the stars, bending over backward, and getting into a ridiculous competition to see who could hold the position the longest… I always let her win.”
You could see the fondness in her eyes, the longing. It warmed your heart that there was a small glimmer of light in Natasha’s past. There was at least a sliver of hope that she clung tightly onto throughout her time in the Red Room.
“After 3 years, the mission ended. Yelena and I were sent back to the Red Room and were torn apart from one another.
Natasha’s breathing grew heavier as she recalled the unfaithful day. The sight of her sister being taken, and not being able to do anything to help her; still haunted the redhead to this day.
“There were so many men with guns and armor, they literally ripped us away from each other. I was eleven and she was only six.”
Your heart sunk at your girlfriend’s words as her smile dropped. She tore her eyes away from yours as she blinked rapidly, fighting back tears, but failed. You reached your hand up to her cheek and wiped away the fallen droplets.
“I haven’t seen her since. I’d like to think that she found a way out and got a life of her own; a nice, happy life.”
Natasha placed her hand on top of yours before looking down at you once more. You sent her a soft smile when she let out a shaky breath.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I knew that the it was all fake, but it was still the best part of my childhood. It was real to me.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
You nodded your head at her words. She took a brief pause, trying to regain her composure, before continuing.
“Even if we have no true relation to one another, and even if I haven’t seen her in years, she is still my little sister.”
Natasha finished off with a big gasp as sobs wracked her body. You sat up from her embrace and pulled her into your arms, just like you had many times before.
You rubbed her back soothingly as she cried into your shoulder, her tears hitting the exposed skin.
“She sounds amazing, baby. I’m really happy that you had some sort of happiness back then and I hope one day you get to see her again.”
You whispered and Natasha pulled away from the hug, still in your arms as her emerald eyes surrounded by a sea of red, a result of her crying.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I doubt she’d even want to see me. I didn’t even try to find her. I’m a horrible sister! I-“
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
You immediately pressed your lips against hers, effectively getting the Russian to calm down. You broke the kiss when her breathing slowed.
“Honey, of course, she’d want to see you again. Like you said, you guys are sisters. I’m positive that it was just as real to her as it was to you.”
You reassured your girlfriend, her eyes a pool of worry and guilt. You rubbed your thumb against her waist, the material of your her hoodie beneath your touch.
“From what you’ve told me about the Red Room, it would’ve been impossible to find her. Stop beating yourself up over it. You’re the best, and I’m totally not biased or anything.”
Natasha let out a small chuckle at that and you smiled at her, wiping away the last of her tears. She collapsed into your hold further, shoving her face into the crook of your neck.
“Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do without you. I love you so much.”
Natasha’s words came out muffled as her face pressed further into your skin.
“You never need to thank me for anything. I’ll always be here for you, Natty.”
You hugged her as tight as you possibly could, her cold skin meeting your warmth. Natasha let out a small sigh at the feeling.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Wherever you go, I go.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

Warnings: Story takes place at the start of season 2 (and some flashbacks from season 1), swearing, angst, death penalty, gaslighting, reader just needing help
A/N: i don’t think this is my best work at all :( but i’ll post the part 2 straight away!! didn’t know tumblr has a word limit now wtf
p.s; tell me what do you think of this fic!!
(Y/N) had begged for somewhere else to spend the Summer. She couldn’t go back to that place, not when there were too many memories that awaited her. No one seemed to listen to her, and her father continued to check something online.
“Rafe Cameron.”
“(Y/N),” she had smiled, and she thought about how gorgeous a boy could be. This man before her; with his hair messily parted and that goddamn blue eyes had her holding her breath, and she wasn’t in her usual demeanour.
“You come down here often?” Rafe asked, raising his eyebrows. (Y/N) watched as he chugged on his beer, and gave her another sly smile again.
“Um, not really. This is my first summer here.”
“That’s nice,” he shrugged, “Welcome to Obx.”
“Thanks,” she nodded, liking how Obx already is. She made a mental note to tell her friends back home about this island, and most importantly; Rafe Cameron.
“Do you wanna take a walk?”
(Y/N) never really accepted any boy’s invitation for a walk, because all the boys in the city never had good intentions with her. She never dated anyone, never bothered to do so.
“Sure,” she smiled, and walked alongside the dirty-blonde boy to the far end of the beach. He sucked in a breath, glancing at her from the corners of his eyes, and laughed.
“You look nervous.”
“You could be a mass murderer.”
“Isn’t that just the perfect person to spend the summer with?”
(Y/N) looked up at him, the moonlight from the sky illuminating his features. God, he really is beautiful. “I guess.”
“So would that be a problem if I killed someone before?”
(Y/N) laughed easily at the joke, bumping her arms against his. She felt a jolt from the touch, and swallowed her saliva. “No.”
Rafe chuckled, “Yeah. That’s more like it.”
(Y/N) had thought of that moment as nothing but a joke. A playful joke, meaning to flirt with her. The next few weeks were spent with only them two, sometimes in his house or (Y/N)’s stay. They were inseparable; always attached by the hips morning and night, and (Y/N) knew about all of his problems.
“Try it.”
“What? Coke?” She asked, bewildered. She looked down to the table, her hands fidgeting, and she quickly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She looked up to Rafe again, “I don’t know how.”
“Come on, I’ll show you,” he smiled, pulling her by her wrist and seated her beside him. She felt the jolt again, but she had gotten better at ignoring it.
Rafe lowered his hand, a finger placed on his left nostril, and snorted the line of white powder. He grunted, throwing his head back, and after a few seconds, he gave her a smirk.
“Your turn.”
(Y/N) smiled back, reaching for the rolled up bill before lowering his head to the last line. She took a deep breath, still so shaky, and snorted the powder before she could change her mind.
Her heartbeat quickened, and her mind was all over the place. She could feel her forehead getting clammy, and before she could do anything, Rafe cupped her face in his large hands.
“Hey, hey, you’re okay,” he expressed, looking straight into her eyes. (Y/N) didn’t realise she was starting to cry, and stared back into his eyes.
“You’re so pretty,” he said suddenly, rubbing comforting circles on her temples. (Y/N) relaxed under his touch, “Such a pretty girl.”
“I thought you’re friends with that Cameron boy,” her father suddenly said, shaking her out of her memories. (Y/N) closed her eyes, trying to push away the thoughts, and gave her father a grimace.
“So? I don’t want to see him.”
“What happened between you two? You used to ask me to move to Obx,” her father laughed, still clicking on the mouse to the laptop.
“People change, dad,” she muttered, and made her way back to her bedroom to be alone with her thoughts.
“Rafe! You don’t have to do this,” (Y/N) gasped, her hands around her mouth. She looked around the gazebo by the lake, her eyes brightening against the beautiful fairy lights and veins decorating the railings.
“It’s your last week here,” he shrugged, helping her to her seat before sitting for himself. He pointed to the food displayed before then, “Steak. Your favourite.”
“You are amazing,” she expressed, her eyes suddenly glassy. The lake never looked so calming, and (Y/N) wished she could capture this exact moment in her head.
“Just thought you should see the other side of Rafe Cameron,” he shrugged, his lips forming into a smile. “I’m glad you came down here to Obx.”
“Me too,” she breathed, and went for the food. “I’m so glad to have met you.”
“Yeah?” He chuckled, cutting his steak into small pieces before biting into one. “Didn’t you called me a mass murderer the first time we met?”
“It was a joke,” she rolled her eyes, “But I’ll still like you even if you are.”
She didn’t know the truth behind her words.
“You will?” He looked up to her, grinning. “And just like?”
“Just like. What are you playing at, Rafe?” She faked groan, putting her cutleries down and clasping her hand together. “What? You’re going to propose to me or something?”
Everything happened so fast; Rafe chuckled, awkwardly running his fingers through his fair, messing with his slicked back hair. She liked this messy hair better, but she liked anything about Rafe Cameron, messy hair or not.
“No.”
Rafe held out the tiny velvet box in his hands, and (Y/N) never saw a prettier smile than his.
“No,” she repeated, her breathing heavy. She was too shocked by this, only meaning the proposal part of her speech as a joke, and looked into his sincere eyes again.
“I’m not proposing to you,” he laughed, getting down to one knee and opening the box to a beautiful diamond ring. (Y/N) sucked in a breath, mesmerised. “I will though, in the future.”
“Oh my god, Rafe, I can’t accept this,” she gasped, watching as the diamond glinted under the bright light. “You’re too much.”
“It’s a promise ring,” he smiled, “And a proposal to ask you to become my girlfriend.”
He sucked in a breath, and (Y/N) swore her heart stopped. She never thought of herself worthy as these kind of moments, but here she was; all teary eyed, her hand against her heart to calm her crazy heartbeat.
“Will you be my girlfriend, (Y/N)?”
She laughed, wiping the tears that had rolled down to her cheeks, and cupped his face into her hands. “You’re so fucking dumb. Of course I will, asshole, without this whole dinner thing. You could ask me while we’re in the swimming pool and I’ll say yes.”
Rafe laughed, melting into her hands, before taking out the ring he had saved up for (by not buying anymore coke) and asking for her permission to slide it over her ring finger.
(Y/N) nodded, holding her breath, and the diamond ring slid to her finger, and she gasped at how pretty it looked. She wondered about how much it had cost Rafe to buy the ring for her, but pushed the thought away when Rafe tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.
“We haven’t even kissed yet.”
(Y/N) laughed, “I told you you’re too fast, Rafe.”
Rafe smiled, inching closer to her, and (Y/N) just instantly stopped thinking. He was so beautiful, so angelic, and she wished she could stay at Obx forever.
“I love you, (Y/L/N).”
“Rafe,” she expressed, placing her forehead against his, “I love you too, okay?”
(Y/N) groaned, deepening her face against the soft pillow. She felt like screaming, but she didn’t have the energy to do so.
She would do anything for Rafe, and the next few days after that proposal went too fast that she felt like God was being unfair to her. He made her feel so good, and no one had made her feel the way he made her feel.
She felt like she was in heaven.
Until that one, certain Friday; the day before she went back to New York.
“Rafe, please,” she cried, pulling him by shirt as he pointed the gun at the sheriff, his eyes flaring up in anger. “Rafe, it doesn’t have to be this way.”
She looked at Ward, who looked afraid as well, and sucked in a breath. “You told me-”
“Shut up!” He grunted, his own fingers trembling on the trigger. “Fuck! Shut up.”
She didn’t know what to do. Sarah was looking at her for help, but she had tried her best to console him. She tried to reach for him again, to which he quickly pushed her away.
“Do that again, and I’ll kill you next.”
“Rafe-”
“Shut up!” He yelled again, and before she could do anything the pulled on the trigger, and the sheriff fell to the ground with widened eyes.
“Hey.”
(Y/N) jolted from her position at the knock, and groaned when her mother came in. She scooted away, giving her some space on the bed, and laid with her face planted against the pillow again.
“You never told us about what happened with you and Rafe,” she sighed, running her fingers through her hair. “Are you okay?”
“Fine.”
“Okay, so why don’t you want to go to Obx for the summer?”
“I want new boyfriends.”
Her mother laughed, “Okay. Then find new boyfriends in Obx. The blonde boy who helped us carry our bags the first time we arrived there can be one.”
“JJ?”
“He’s always around the island too, helping people for money,” she shrugged, “That’s a good kid. Doing honest work for honest money.”
“I’m not actually looking for a boyfriend, mom,” she rolled her eyes. “It was a figure of speech.”
“Well,” she stood up, “You better be looking for one. We’re spending the summer in Obx, and that’s final.”
. . .
(Y/N) rubbed her eyes against the glowing sunlight of North Carolina, her body screaming with pain from hours of sitting in the same position. She heard the pilot said something, her mind still woozy from only being caffeinated, and placed her head against the seat again.
“It’s a bright day, like it’s waiting for us,” her mother exclaimed, fixing her sunglasses before walking down the stairs to the road. (Y/N) groaned, still so tired, and she wished for nothing but to stay in her room with Netflix to watch.
“Hey, Mr (Y/L/N),” JJ smiled, and (Y/N) noticed the fake exterior he was trying to portray. “Come down here for another summer again?”
Her mother, who admired JJ’s ‘honest work’ gushed out to beside him, asking about his school and his works. (Y/N) rolled her eyes, not interested in making any new conversation, and she looked back at the area where the incident took place.
JJ caught her looking, and when her parents and the little brother had entered the car, he went to her to help her with her bags.
He crouched down, wrapping his fingers around the handle, and quickly whispered. “You saw, right?”
“Huh?”
“What Rafe did.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she muttered, and went into the car before he could say anything else.
God. Just how she expected her first moments after arriving in Obx.
“Hey! Welcome back!”
“You called the Camerons?” She groaned, looking at her father for some kind of useless explanation. After the brief conversation with JJ, she wanted nothing that could remind her of Rafe and hoped she could stay in her room for the whole 2 months.
“(Y/N), wait-”
She barged into her room for 2 months, noticing the old posters she had put up the year before, and thought about how happy she was at that time. She felt nothing now, and she couldn’t wait until the end of summer.
“Fuck!” She yelled, her head feeling so light, and placed herself before the naked bed. She sighed, trying to calm herself down, and thought of the ways to ignore the certain boy a few miles away.
Maybe he’s in college.
Maybe he’s going to leave her alone.
Maybe he has found someone new.
She felt a tug at the thought of the last sentence, and she couldn’t explain why she would even be devastated over him finding a new girl. That’s good, she guessed, at least she doesn’t have to think about staying away from him again.
Maybe she should spend her time with the pogues; JJ’s friends. They looked fun to hang with.
“Hey, (Y/N).”
“I’m not in the mood,” she grunted, shielding her eyes from the sunlight. “What do you want?”
“Can we go to the beach?”
“The beach?” She huffed, “We just arrived. Shouldn’t you clean your room or something?”
“Okay. But can you bring me to the beach after I’m done?”
“I’ll think about it,” she expressed, but after a few hours of sweeping and mopping the dusty room, placing the new bedsheet over the mattress and taking down her old posters, all she wanted to do was get out for some fresh air. She had slept most of her time in the plane so she wasn’t feeling like taking a nap at all, and she guessed it would be appropriate to bring her little brother to the beach.
She walked to her room, her hands around her waist. “Hey, you’re- where the fuck did you get that?”
“What?” He asked, raising the frame with his sister’s arms around Rafe, smiling happily at the camera. “This? Isn’t he your boyfriend?”
“Throw that away!” she yelled, “I said throw that away!”
“Okay, okay,” he groaned, throwing the frame into the big plastic bag before dusting the dust off of him. “Can we go to the beach now?”
“You’re an asshole, do you know that?” She huffed, watching as he changed into his swimming shorts, “And we’ve been cleaning for 3 hours. You’re not half done yet.”
“Whatever,” he said, and closed the door. “Just wait for me downstairs.”
The ride to the beach didn’t take long, and (Y/N) actually felt peaceful riding the bicycle and letting the breeze hit her square on the face. She had laughed at a stupid joke by her little brother, and she thought about how she could do this for the next 2 months.
“I wanna learn how to surf,” he said, letting the water soaked his feet and dumped his feet into the sand. “Do you?”
“You’ll forget how to when we’re back in New York,” she mumbled, gazing at the sky, “Also your body’s too weak to fight the waves.”
“No, it’s not,” he argued, “What are you going to do for the summer, (Y/N)? Are you going to be with that-”
“No,” she quickly said, curling her toes at the feeling of the water soaking her feet. “I’m not going to be with anyone.”
“Isn’t that your friend?”
“Ha-ha, nice joke,” she laughed falsely, still closing her eyes against the bright sky. “Who’s the friend? Is it Rafe?”
“Hey.”
(Y/N) sat up straight, her heart beating wildly, and what greeted her sight sent shivers down to her spine, and she quickly clutched onto her little brother’s wrist before pulling him away.
“Ow! What are you doing? (Y/N), let me go!” Lucas groaned, looking back at the boy who wanted nothing but to talk to his sister. “Rafe, help!”
“Shut up, you bitch,” she groaned, still pulling on his wrist. She knew about the possibility of leaving a claw mark on his skin, but she wanted nothing to do with the boy.
“Help me, Rafe! She’s going to kill me!”
“I said shut up!” She yelled, her chest heaving now, and she didn’t care about her hair that was hanging loosely from her hairclaw.
She didn’t know if Rafe was chasing after her, and she didn’t dare to look back.
“Ride your bike home,” she fumbled with the handle, “Now. Please, now!”
“Okay,” Lucas groaned, “What’s wrong with you? It’s just Rafe.”
“Go!” She yelled, already set to cycle back home, with her clothes all wet and sticking against her skin. She couldn’t breathe, and she hated the sight of him. She cycled back home hurriedly, tears streaming down her face, and she wished she had stayed home.
The night after the day on the beach she didn’t bother to come down for dinner, only staying in her room and browsing through Netflix. She didn’t feel like doing anything, and she hated how quick her mood was ruined.
She didn’t think about seeing him that quickly, especially after just arriving on the island that morning. This was exactly the problem; she couldn’t face him, not after what he did, but she couldn’t bring herself to turn him to the authorities. She was pushing him away, but at the same time protecting him.
The next morning, she felt shittier than ever. Being in the small island, where everywhere she goes could remind her back to Rafe, she decided to stay in bed and browse through more movies, only going downstairs for a glass of water before going back to her room. She was glad Lucas and her parents were enjoying most of their time here in Obx, and she would do the same if it weren’t for what happened last year.
She was scared. She was mad at herself too, because she couldn’t bring herself to tell anyone about what she saw. As much as she hated him now, a part of her still loved him.
“(Y/N)! Wait!”
“Get the fuck away from me!” She yelled, her eyes red and her cheeks wet. “You’re a fucking psycho.”
“No, no, baby, please-”
“Don’t call me baby, I swear to fucking god!” She yelled again, getting into the car and watched as Rafe desperately banged against the car window, pleading for her to hear him.
“It’s not what you think-”
(Y/N) cried, her head painful, and slowly slid the diamond ring from her finger before lowering the window by a slit and throwing it outside. Rafe watched the ring roll away but didn’t care to fetch it, only trying to speak to her through the tiny slit.
“I had to do it, please,” he begged, “Please. Baby. I can’t do this-”
“Go to hell,” she hissed, and sped away.
That was the last time she had ever seen Rafe, and she knew he tried to contact her with different phone numbers every day, but she had blocked every single number. The trouble stopped after a while, and (Y/N) realised how much she had been missing him.
Who could she confront about this?
Who could she tell?
She couldn’t. She loved him too much.
A week after settling in their summer home, (Y/N) was tired of all the screaming and nudging by her mother for her to get out of the house, and ‘get a life’. She didn’t feel like having a whole summer of just hanging out at the beach, not when the last time she had went there and bumped onto Rafe, so she decided to keep her distance off Figure 8 and made her way to the other side of the island.
She had only been there twice with Rafe before, to pick up something at Barry’s (he told her not to worry about it), so she never really quite get used to the road around here.
She stopped the jeep by the side of the road, glancing at the signboard and the road behind her. Did she go too far? Or was this just the wrong way?
She rested her back against the car door, already tired, and decided to just wait until she was good enough to drive home.
It was half an hour later when she heard the roaring of a motorcycle, and she quickly got to her feet, her chest suddenly heaving.
“Yo? You’re okay?”
“Huh?” She fixed her hair, “Um- yeah. Just resting.”
JJ nodded, “You should turn off your engine. You don’t want to-”
Just right on cue, the engine stopped completely and (Y/N) groaned, getting into the car to turn the engine again. It made some noise, until silence fell between them.
“That’s what I’m saying,” JJ said, “Where are you heading to?”
“Oh, nowhere in particular,” she sighed, getting out of the jeep and shutting the door angrily. Good. Just like how she wanted her day to be.
“Let me send you back home,” he offered, pointing to the black ride behind the jeep. She shook her head, her mouth forming into a tight smile.
“That’s alright, I can-”
“Walk back home? Come on, you’re far from Figure 8, and you’re 50 minutes away from The Cut on foot.”
She didn’t exactly wish for this, but it would help.
“Thanks,” she mumbled, helping her up to the motorcycle and placing her hands on his shoulders for some balance.
“You’ve never ridden a bike before?” JJ asked, half-amused. “No, no, because you look nervous.”
“I’ve just never ridden a bike with you driving,” she said, rolling her eyes. “Can you send me to the taxi stop or anything?”
“Really? Why can’t I just drive you home?”
She groaned, “Just send me to the taxi port, Maybank.”
He laughed, putting his helmet on, and (Y/N) placed her hands against her ears at the loud sound of the engine.
(Y/N) hate to admit it; but the ride to The Cut was the most thrilling thing that she had ever felt in months. She felt a smile slowly forming onto her face, and JJ swore he could see it too from the side mirror, and when they finally stopped at the taxi port, she was so happy she felt like buying a bike for herself.
“Thanks for the ride,” she said. “Minus one point for no helmet.”
“I didn’t know I would see you laying by the side of the road,” he rolled his eyes, a hint of teasing in his tone. “But where’s the fun when you’re all safe?”
She hummed in response, “I’ll see you around then.”
“So you’re just going to get an expensive ride back to Figure 8? Why wouldn’t you let me send you off?”
She knew exactly why, but she didn’t want to admit it. She was scared of Rafe seeing her on JJ’s bike, knowing that he’s not on good terms with the pogues, and the last thing she had ever wanted was to make him feel like he was being replaced.
“Don’t trouble yourself too much, JJ,” she sighed. “Besides, you can see me for the next 2 months everyday if that’s what you want.”
He grinned, “Good offer. Will think about that soon.”
(Y/N) laughed, tilting her head to one side before making a move to reach for her phone. JJ watched as she filled in her passcode, went straight to Contacts, and handed him the phone.
“What’s this?”
“Oh god, you’re annoying,” she rolled her eyes. “Put in your McDonald’s order.”
JJ laughed again, his fingers sliding over her phone screen easily to fill in his number, and he handed her the phone back after saving his name as ‘Handsome pogue’.
“I’ll see you around, (Y/L/N).”
(Y/N) smiled, this time sincerely, and she thought about the possibility of spending her summer in The Cut with JJ where she knew there would be no troubles awaiting her.
It was safe to say that JJ and (Y/N) were inseparable after spending so much time together the next few weeks. Everywhere JJ goes, (Y/N) would be there with him, either by helping him with his work in the restaurant or running for groceries to deliver with him. She liked it with him; he took her mind off Rafe, and that was everything that she needed.
JJ knew about the girl’s relationship with Rafe last year, but he was careful not to cross the invisible line. He was gentle with her, always studying her reactions at certain places (he was sure Rafe had taken her to those places before) and in return, she knew everything about him.
“I’m sorry about your dad,” she bit her lips, letting the water soaked her jeans as they laid on the sand, gazing at the view. She felt sorry for the blonde boy after knowing the truth about his father, and wished she could help him in any way.
“That’s okay,” he replied. “Hey, I’m bringing you to meet my friends. Would you like that?”
“Your friends?” She raised her brows, “Like Kiera and Pope?”
“Yeah,” he smiled, “Would you like to meet them?”
(Y/N) thoughts went back to the many times Rafe had told her about the pogues, but she always saw them as a tight group of friends who always had each other’s backs. She never had that kind of friendship before, especially living in New York where almost everyone is fake, and sometimes wished she could have something like that.
“Okay, yeah,” she nodded, “Would they like me?”
“You’re kidding? You’re amazing!” JJ gushed out, throwing his arms onto the air before slapping the water, resulting in a splash across her face.
She gasped, “Fuck, you’re fucking dead.”
“No, no, I don’t mean it-”
The conversation turned into a water fight, their screams filling the air and attracting everyone’s attention, but (Y/N) didn’t care. She was enjoying the moment, with JJ, and she wished she could do this forever.
“Stop it!” JJ laughed, pushing her down to the sand before pinning her arms on top of her head. He watched as her chest heaved, a smile playing on her lips.
He pulled away, clearing his throat. “I’m sorry, I didn’t-”
(Y/N) pulled him into a kiss, her fingers wrapping themselves around his jawline and allowing the water to completely wet their whole body. JJ softened into the kiss, still so shocked, but he never felt better than ever.
(Y/N) pulled away, giggling. “You’re red in the face, JJ.”
“Huh?” He smiled, and quickly pulled her up with him. “Let’s go to the Chateau. Get you cleaned up.”
“I’m not meeting your friends looking like this, J,” she rolled her eyes, pushing him away slightly. He pulled her close, placing a soft kiss against her forehead that left her all breathless.
“Why not? You’re still pretty.”
She made a face, but let her body be pulled away by JJ to his bike. She was nervous, of course, to see his friends, but she decided it was time anyways.
If she was to date JJ, then she would have to meet his friends and talk to them eventually.
When (Y/N) first entered the chateau, she didn’t know what to expect. Pope and Kiera were friendly to her, but she could feel the strange vibe between her and Kie, but they were both trying to be polite not to mention anything.
(Y/N) knew there was somebody missing from the group, but she didn’t dare mention it to anyone. JJ had hinted about this to her before, something about John B getting convicted, but she had tried her best to stray away from the topic.
“Let’s play truth or dare,” Kie smiled, clasping her hands together and laying her back against the chair. She watched as JJ whispered something to (Y/N), feeling her heart tightened when she laughed, and shook her head. Kie would never let anyone like her trouble her.
“JJ, truth or dare,” Kie said, crossing her arms. Her question was directed to JJ, but she watching (Y/N) intently.
“Dare.”
“Come on, we’re short of one person who could think of the best dares,” she said, and (Y/N) realised the piercing tone and attention towards her. She sucked in a breath, not sure if she was just stating or directing the statement to her in a satirical manner.
“Okay, truth,” JJ rolled his eyes.
“Do you miss John B?”
“Kie-” Pope groaned, “Not the time.”
(Y/N) watched as he glanced at her, but quickly pulled away when he realised she was staring at him too.
“Okay, since you guys wanna be such assholes,” Kie sat up straighter. “(Y/N), truth or dare?”
“I’m not playing.”
“Of course you’re playing,” Kie laughed, “You’re fucking with JJ now right? You gotta show-”
“Shit, Kie, what’s your problem?” JJ sighed, throwing his arms up into the air. “She’s a friend of mine.”
“She’s not your friend!” She suddenly exclaimed, “She fucking saw Rafe shot Sheriff Peterkin but decided to keep her stupid mouth shut because-”
“Stop it!” JJ yelled, pushing her against the seat. “Kie! Not right now!”
“What do you mean not right now?” (Y/N) asked, disbelief lacing in her tone. What was even happening? She was having the best time of her life a few hours ago at the beach, and now this?
“Oh, did your boyfriend not tell you?” Kie laughed. “It’s all an act for you to confess to him that you saw Rafe kill Sheriff Peterkin. Don’t fucking act dumb with me, (Y/N), you saw, and you didn’t tell anyone.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she gritted her teeth, “I never saw him kill anyone.”
“Bullshit!”
“Kie!” JJ yelled, using all of his power to hold off the struggling girl. He motioned for Pope to take over and tried to reach (Y/N), only for her to walk straight towards the exit.
“Wait, wait, I don’t mean it-” he sighed, wrapping his fingers around her wrist before pulling her close. “I don’t-”
“You betrayed me,” she said. “Are you that stupid? So you planned about helping me to the taxi stop so that I can confess whatever it is about Rafe? Is that your fucking plan?”
“No, oh my god, I didn’t mean-”
“Fuck! I know I can never trust you guys,” she hissed, pulling her hand away before walking towards the door. She groaned again when she realised the lack of a vehicle to drive home, but she rather walk back home than be in the same distance as JJ or Kie or anyone else.
She walked alone all the way to the main part of town so that she could hire a cab, and just to make her day any better; the rain suddenly decided it was time to cool the island, and (Y/N) was left to soak.
She put her arms around her, shivering slightly, looking back at her previous way and wondering how much time she had spent walking from the Chateau. If only she had driven all the way from Figure 8 to The Cut, she wouldn’t have had to waste her time walking mindlessly.
A few minutes after, she saw a car pulling up beside her. She decided to ignore the black vehicle in hope for whoever it is to finally give up.
“Get in, (Y/N).”

Lots of ideas for AU for your attention
(I'm going crazy.)
Okay, you should know that I really love AU. The characters in the Trilogy are so complex and interesting that I just love introducing them in different roles, spelling out a character depending on the changing world/situation/position in society. I don't think all of them are entirely original, as I am inspired by my favorite fanfics or posts in one way or another from time to time. In any situation, there are so many that I just don't think I could write even some small pieces on all of them, but I want to show them to you anyway. You can use my ideas however you want, get inspired by them and stuff like that, because I've done the same thing with some of them. SO THAT....
1. Modern AU, in which Nat is still the same ambitious little kid, but since we don't have magic he uses more "realistic" ways to get revenge or even kill Lovelace. Bartimeus is either a detective, an assassin, or both, who Nathaniel hires by paying a considerable sum from Underwood's purse for Bart to find out more about Simon Lovelace, his papers, and in the end the strange magical, obviously nonfunctioning trinkets like the Amulet that the professor is so fond of. I started to write it, and there, from the beginning, Bartimaeus was pointing a gun at his "master," because "his working hours were up. But I don't know if I'll ever finish it.
2. The AU with Bartimaeus the cat I mentioned earlier. I think a short sketch or comic book format would work well here.
3. an AU in which Bartimaeus is a guy from some rich family and Nath is his regular servant, who Bart just likes to piss off because he acts like he's in charge and not Barty himself. (I saw a short snippet of this concept in some fanfic and I was eager to develop it, but just to warn you, the idea isn't really mine.)
4. Dark!Nathaniel AU, because I was just wondering if Nathaniel could be made even more horrible than he was in book 3. I mean... Bartimeus, who once again is threatened by his master with a punishment like Flame, but Bart thinks that's just empty words, because this kid just isn't capable of it. But he is. He is capable, and capable of much more for the sake of his career path. This isn't Nathaniel or even John Mandrake anymore. It's something Bart doesn't even want to think about. Not even human.
5. It's also Dark!Bartimaeus because yes. I imagine the fact that Bartimaeus is an unreliable narrator, but just elevated to an absolute. That is, the concept that he whitewashed himself and his personality as much as he could, but in fact turned out to be an unbelievable monster with no morals, and who inflicts creepiness on everyone he can. In such a concept, both the idea of Ptolemy seems rather absurd (we're only talking about this AU now, no more, which is not particularly connected to canon) and Mandrake's actions to protect himself are not so bloodthirsty.
6. Or maybe just give me the darc BartNats and I'll be free (Yes, I really love this kind of thing, I'm speaking as the author of the only Darkfik in a small fandom of one russian author)
7. Of the already released ideas, but the ones I want to talk about anyway, (also I would be incredibly happy if you take it or some others as a basis for anything) I have a kind of modern AU in which Nathaniel is something like a Satanist or black mage, since in this concept it's our world, in which summoning a demon is something sinful and wrong, with all the traditions of summoning and all the rules. And Bartimaeus is the devil or demon (call it what you want) he summoned. In my fanfiction, instead of selling his soul to the demon for coins and eternal life, Nat asked to be possessed and share his body, because he was interested in the benefits of that state. But to see other ideas coming from this concept is very curious.
8. Lite High School AU, in which Nat asked Bartimaeus to help him with his homework at home because he was too tired of this life. Out of curiosity - in my head so into all these runes and invocations, but more as a false science and absolutely not telling anyone about it because it would ruin his reputation as the most arrogant best student in school.
(This was also written, but I only posted it on the Ukrainian fanfiction site. However, if you're interested in it, I might somehow show those two works to you)
9. Aladdin AU because it looks incredibly cool. This despite the fact that I haven't seen the Disney movie and I only know the plot in general terms. But still, we at least already have a genie.
10. If we're already talking about genies, it would be interesting to see the characters in the cast of a regular genie story. Bart as the genie who is obliged to grant the three wishes of that silly beleaguered guy who pulled him out of the bottle drifting quietly by the waters of the Thames. I think Kitty would eventually like to relieve him of all these responsibilities, but Nathaniel, as the only one capable of making a wish, would be too frightened by the consequences of such a decision.
11. a race-changing AU that I started to write, but haven't had a chance to finish yet. It's not my concept, but I love it too much not to mention it.
12. Harry Potter Au and again because it's cool and because I've seen the drawings but haven't seen much fanfiction, so can I remind you of that in this post?
13. The typical "what-if-it-would-be-all-it-is-just-films" of many fandoms, inspired by an incredible drawing from @pompomoo. I have so many headcanons to this that it would be easier to do a separate post if you like this one.
14. Slavic (Ukrainian) AU because it's just beautiful and because Slavic mythology is incredibly diverse and fulfilling. (And I also like to imagine everyone in vyshyvankas and national clothes, which, by the way vary depending on the region, so it is also very interesting). I'll be sure to do it a little later, because I need to dig through a lot of material, but for now I'll throw it to you.
15. And the last thing for today, if I don't have a hundred more ideas. An AU in which Nathaniel and Bartimaeus are forced to live in adjoining apartments. And while Nat is trying to study and also, at least occasionally, rest, Bart seems determined to give him hell. He makes a lot of noise, tries to learn to play guitar on his own because he doesn't want to go to special school but thinks it's cool, puts music like rock, rap or heavy metal on the speakers at the highest volume (especially at three in the morning) and plays console with his best friend Kitty, clearly and loudly commenting on every move of the character (Kitty ALWAYS wins). Nathaniel just wants to S L E E P, but, Bartimaeus doesn't want that. Especially after Nat makes himself known by banging on the wall and the closed doors of his neighbor's apartment, asking him to shut up just for a second. Bart hears this, answers something like, "Yeah," waits for Nat to be quiet, and then turns the music up twice as loud as it was.
