Pokeshipping snippet from my RivalCrushshipping fic
Ash and Pikachu opened the hospital door carefully to not disturb the patient inside.
"Ash. Pikachu." The patient in hospital gown called them. An IV line was attached her arm.
"Mist. Are you feeling better now?" he panted towards her and checked her pulse. Pikachu climbed him and looked at her wrist over his shoulder ,"Pika?"
"I'm better. Thanks a lot for staying." she blushed when Ash's hand reached her ,"Who were you talking to outside?"
"Are you sure? You still looked so pale and cold." he doubted ,"It was Gary and Serena."
"Gary and who?"
"Serena."
"Wow. Are they together now?" she carefully asked. Misty knew about Serena, so this could be a good news.
"No, I mean, yeah, they're together because Gary is replacing me to be Serena's Kanto guide. I couldn't make it because I had to make sure you're okay." Ash explained ,"I'm not sure if they're dating, though."
"You what because of me?!" She withdrew her arm away from his hold.
"She asked me to be her Kanto guide, but I couldn't make it because I had to make sure you're alright, Misty." he repeated.
"Oh, Ash. Why'd you do that?" she showed a frantic expression ,"You shouldn't come here. She would be very dissapointed."
"And leave you with your unreliable sisters? I respect your family, Mist. But we all know they're undependable." he raised his voice ,"What if something happened to you again?"
"You're too worried. I was just overworked. That's all." she denied. Ash could be too dense sometimes. While she’s happy he chose to be here with her, she’s just worried he might miss his chance. And she didn't want him to be present here, if it would only give her false hope of being with him.
Ash rolled his eyes. Misty was just as stubborn as him. It's just one thing that made her both adorable and annoying. He knew he was correct. Plus, here with her is where he wanted to be.
"Whatever you say." he reclined on his chair ,"I'm not leaving until you get better."
“Pika.” And Pikachu supported his decision.

DP x DC Prompt #52
Bruce had a younger brother. Danny, he had been called. He had been a surprise baby. Born a little under 8 years from Bruce. He hadn't known how to be a big brother, at first. But he loved Danny. More than anything.
It was why he left. To become Batman. He left Danny behind so he could train to be a hero. For Gotham, for their parents, for Danny.
He didn't know he'd be returning to an empty manor, or else he'd never have left.

Crazy how despite Mikan's love for gory movies and blood, she doesn't do an over the top murder. She doesn't even do a medical themed murder despite it being the main focus of the chapter. (Only one of her victims was a patient and she just strangled her)
Crazy how, when she wants to commit a murder for Junko, she does neck trauma.
That's Yasuke's M.O.
#If I had a nickel for everytime a medical professional killed their classmates via strangulation and neck trauma#For their fucked up girlfriend#I'd have two nickels blah blah you know how the rest goes#Feel like we are getting a look into Junko's 'interests' and I don't know if I like that information#I wonder if they did have a different murder for mikan and scrapped it#Because she has a line in the afterschool mode (that's DEFINITELY not its name but I'm too lazy)#Where she mentions she loves parasites while pulling her crazy in love face#And later in KK we have a nurse that kills people by growing parasites in them#Could be unrelated or it could be a reuse of a early concept of chp3#Mentioned bc it's the only murder that connects like that but again it could be Kodaka using nurse tropes#Also slightly unrelated but does the medical profession just not inspire Junko or what#Bc we all know how weird Mikans execution is but also Yasuke has one in a artbook and????#He gets strapped to a table operated on and then just explodes#That's it no explanation for why he explodes#Junko I thought this was your thing???? Why does it suck so much???#scarposts

Every Universe
"I love you." She uttered, barely above a whisper. "I love you in every universe." "Do we end up together in every universe?" He asked. "No," She replied, and the painful memories of those life times flashed behind her beautiful eyes as she reflected to the 'back then's. Yet, she smiled, "But I love you anyway, how could I not? My soul yearns for you, even before it had come to know you. It remembers, I remember." "Does it hurt?" She was silent for a moment, "A lifetime without you hurts more then a lifetime when we are not together." "I love you." He blurts out unthinkingly, desperate. He reaches out for her hand, taking it and holds it in both hands in a grounding grip. She looked down at their hands and smiled, relishing in the bitter sweetness. "I know." She confesses quietly. She held his hand tightly, trying to ignore the buzzing within her body- threatening to tear her apart atom by atom. "But you aren't mine. Not this time."

Rowaelin Chapter 41 Kingdom of Ash:
She'd rebuild it—what she had been.
Perhaps one last time, perhaps only for a little while, but she'd do it. If only for Terrasen.
Rowan swooped from the mast, shifting as he reached her side at the rail. He surveyed the night-black sea beyond them. "You should rest." She slid him a glance. "I'm not tired." Not a lie, not in some regards. "Want to spar?" He frowned. "Training can start tomorrow."
"Or tonight." She held his piercing stare, matched his dominance with her own.
"It can wait a few hours, Aelin."
"Every day counts." Against Erawan, even a day of training would count.
Rowan's jaw tightened. "True," he said at last. "But it can still wait. There are ... there are things we need to discuss." The silent words rose in his animal-bright eyes. About you and me.
Her mouth went dry. But Aelin nodded In silence, they strode into their spacious quarters, its only decoration the wall of windows that overlooked the churning sea behind them. A far cry from a queen's chamber, or any she might have purchased as Adarlan's assassin.
At least the bed built into the wall looked clean enough, the sheets crisp and stainless. But Aelin headed for the oak desk anchored to the floor, and leaned against it while Rowan shut the door.
In the dim lantern light, they stared at each other.
She'd endured Maeve and Cairn; she'd endured Endovier and countless other horrors and losses. She could have this conversation with him. The first step toward rebuilding herself.
Aelin knew Rowan could hear her thundering heart as the space between them went taut. She swallowed once. "Elide and Lorcan told you... told you everything that was said on that beach."
A curt nod, wariness flooding his eyes. "Everything that Maeve said." Another nod.
She braced herself. "That I'm-we're mates."
Understanding and something like relief replaced that wariness. "Yes."
"I'm your mate," she said, needing to voice it. "And you are mine."
Rowan crossed the room, but halted a few feet from the desk on which she leaned. "What of it, Aelin?" His question was low, rough.
"Don't you..." She scrubbed at her face. "You know what she did to you, to ..." She couldn't say her name. Lyria. "Because of it."
"I do know."
"And?"
"And what do you wish me to say?"
She pushed off the desk. "I wish you to tell me how you feel about it. If…"
"If what?"
"If you wish it wasn't so."
His brows narrowed. "Why would I ever wish that?"
She shook her head, unable to answer, and stared over her shoulder toward the sea.
It seemed like he would close the distance between them, but he remained where he was.
"Aelin." His voice turned hoarse. "Aelin."
She looked at him then, at the pain in his words.
"Do you know what I wish?" He exposed his palms, one tattooed, the other unmarked. "I wish that you had told me. When you realized it. I wish you had told me then."
She swallowed against the ache in her throat. "I didn't want to hurt you."
"Why would it ever hurt me to know the truth that was already in my heart? The truth I hoped for?"
"I didn't understand it. I didn't understand how it was possible. I thought maybe ... maybe you might be able to have two mates within a lifetime, but even then, I just ….." She blew out a breath. "I didn't want you to be distressed." His eyes softened. "Do I regret that Lyria was dragged into this, that the cost of Maeve's game was her life, and the life of the child we might have had? Yes. I regret that, and I wish it had never happened." He would bear the tattoo to remember it for the rest of his days. "But none of that was your fault. I will always carry some of the burden of it, always know I chose to leave her for war and glory, and that I played right into Maeve's hands."
"Maeve wanted to ensnare you to get to me, though."
"Then it is her choice, not yours."
Aelin ran a hand over the worn wood of the desk. "In those illusions she spun for me, she showed me variations on one more than all the others." The words were strained, but she forced them out. Forced herself to look at him. "She spun me one dreamscape that felt so real I could smell the wind off the Staghorns."
"What did she show you?" A breathless question.
Aelin had to swallow before she could answer. "She showed me what might have been—if there had been no Erawan, if Elena had dealt with him properly and banished him. If there had been no Lyria, none of that pain or despair you endured. She showed me Terrasen as it would have been today, with my father as king, and my childhood happy, and..." Her lips wobbled. "When I turned twenty, you came with a delegation of Fae to Terrasen, to make amends for the rift between my mother and Maeve. And you and I took one look at each other in my father's throne room, and we knew."
She didn't fight the stinging in her eyes. "I wanted to believe that was the true world. That this was the nightmare from which I'd awaken. I wanted to believe that there was a place where you and I had never known this suffering and loss, where we'd take one look at each other and know we were mates. Maeve told me she could make it so. If I gave her the keys, she'd make it all possible." She wiped at her cheek, at the tear that escaped down it. "She spun me realities where you were dead, where you'd been killed by Erawan and only in handing over the keys to her would I be able to avenge you. But those realities made me ... I stopped being useful to her when she told me you were gone. She couldn't get me to talk, to think. Yet in the ones where you and I met, where things were as they should have been ... that was when I came the closest."
His swallow was audible. "What stopped you?"
She wiped at her face again. "The male I fell in love with was you. It was you, who knew pain as I did, and who walked with me through it, back to the light. Maeve didn't understand that. That even if she could create that perfect world, it wouldn't be you with me. And I'd never trade that, trade this. Not for anything." He extended his hand. An offer and invitation.
Aelin laid hers atop his, and his callused fingers squeezed gently. "I wanted it to be you," he breathed, closing his eyes. "For months and months, even in Wendlyn, I wondered why you weren't my mate instead. It tore me up, wondering it, but I still did." He opened his eyes, and they burned like green fire. "All this time, I wanted it to be you."
She lowered her gaze, but he hooked a thumb and forefinger around her chin and lifted her face.
"I know you are tired, Fireheart. I know that the burden on your shoulders is more than anyone should endure." He took their joined hands and laid them on his heart. "But we'll face this together. Erawan, the Lock, all of it.
"We'll face it together. And when we are done, when you Settle, we will have a thousand years together. Longer."
A small sound came out of her. "Elena said the Lock requires—"
"We'll face it together," he swore again.
"And if the cost of it truly is you, then we'll pay it together. As one soul in two bodies.
Her heart strained to the point of cleaving. "Terrasen needs a king."
"I have no intention of ruling Terrasen without you. Aedion can have the job."
She scanned his face. He meant every word He brushed the hair from her face, his other hand still clasping hers to his chest, where his heart pounded a steady, unfaltering rhythm.
"Even if I had my choice of any dream-realities, any perfect illusions, I would still choose you, too."
She felt the truth of his words echo into the unbreakable thing that bound their very souls, and tilted her face up toward his. But he made no move beyond it.
She frowned. "Why aren't you kissing me?"
"I thought you might want to be asked first."
"That never stopped you before."
"This first time, I wanted to make sure you were ... ready." After Cairn and Maeve. After months of having no choices whatsoever.
She smiled despite that truth. "I'm ready to be kissed again, Prince."
He let out a dark chuckle and muttered, "Thank the gods," before he lowered his mouth to hers.
"You're my mate." Her words were a breathless rush. "And I am yours."
The world might have been burning around them for all she cared, all he cared, too.
"Together, Aelin," he promised, and she heard the rest of the words in every place their bodies joined. Together they would face this, together they would find a way.
Together we'll find a way, their mingling breaths, the crashing sea, seemed to echo.
Together.

the tendency for fandom to take a really interesting dynamic and then just strip it of everything that makes it interesting to fit it into the same boring romance storyline over and over again
#this applies to SO MANY but in this moment i'm thinking of steddie again#and the one fic i'm still loving that actually cares to explore the class divide and difference in background in really grounded interestin#ways#as well as their conflicting world views#and i'm like yes!! that's what makes this potential dynamic interesting!!!#not the same rom-com tropes all the time#this is such a silly thing to get annoyed about i recognize but i shall lol

So, bit of ramblings on my Post-Trimax Wolfwood headcanons.
Man, one of my favorite tropes in media is a character who's spirit lingers on after they've died, but it's usually something you only see in fanfic, so I cannot get over how FUCKING FERAL I was when I realized that it was legit a thing in Trimax, and that Wolfwood was the one we actually got to see, legitimately talking to the people he'd left behind and confirming that ghosts in the canon weren't just hallucinations or something! Like yeah, we saw Tessla leading the boys to her body, but since her ghost was never mentioned again, it could have easily have been written off as a fluke, right?
NOPE. They are real and they linger after to watch over the people they care about or to send messages to the people who are still alive! And the fact that the character who had just wormed his way into being just as beloved to me as my favorite character (Which NEVER happens, I usually only have enough brain cells for one at a time!) and that we had just had our hearts ripped to shreds watching him die was also the one we got to know had definitely stayed behind to watch over the people he loved just makes me SO HAPPY! I rp that asshole from time to time, and I just love exploring the implications of it!
I play him like he's been there a LONG TIME. When he died, Rem was there, watching over Vash, but when Knives spent the last of his energy, she chose to move on with him, now that she knew Wolfwood would be there to keep watch over Vash, and he took it SERIOUSLY. He's been waiting so long, he's lost his sense of time, he thinks it's only been a couple decades when it's been CENTURIES. And the time has softened his own trauma, he's gone from being surly and angry and defensive to being at peace and finding comfort in the fact that its allowed him to see more of Vash's life than he ever would have been able to live long enough to see when he was alive. And it's given him time to notice just how unwell Vash is, how broken he is, watching over him when he thinks he's alone and lets himself break down.
But it's also made Wolfwood a bit unwell in his own way; as time went on and the people he knew in life began to pass away, too, his interest in paying attention to what the people around them were doing wained, and his dedication to watching over Vash until it was his time to pass on became a strange sort of dependence. He loses his sense of self, in a way, until the most important thing in his existence is being there for Vash, waiting for him, having long-since accepted that when the time comes, it'll be over and he's alright with that.
He's happy, but to the perspective of a living person, it would seem TWISTED in a way. He still thinks he's a damned soul, stealing more time than he's allowed and only damning himself further by doing so, and he just knows that when he gets to walk Vash into whatever comes after for them, they'll be separated again, for the last time, and there won't be any coming back from it that time, because Vash is too good, too kind, too HOLY to ever be damned. But it's fine. Wolfwood knew he was damned long before his death, and time has just given him the chance to make peace with it and simply be happy with the fact that at least he'll be able to be with Vash when he can move on to wherever good people go at the end. And yet when it happens, Vash feels the same way about himself, so certain that he's the one who's damned, and their reunion is wonderful and painful and terrifying for both of them in different ways.
He's even worse with interacting with people, once he's forced to interact with the living. I play Wolfwood in a game where he stumbles into revealing himself after spending centuries never letting himself be seen, and he worries that going "silent" again will upset people. He's spent centuries being a silent shadow, certain that letting Vash know he was there would only cause more suffering for an already unwell mind, so he's forgotten how to interact with tact, blurting out whatever pops into his head because he's only had himself to talk to for all that time. He hurts people without meaning to, begins to suffer from the crisis of worrying that no matter what he does, he's a burden to the people who mourn him, he doesn't belong, his existence is nothing but a constant reminder of what's coming and will only cause the people around him pain. He's both able to be the kind, caring, loving person he might have been if the Eye of Michael had never taken him from the orphanage, and also a HUGE, ANXIOUS WRECK.
And the thing that makes it all worse for him is the fact that when he was dumped into the game I have him in, he was separated from the Vash of his timeline, and now lives in constant fear that he'll never see him again, that he won't be there when he passes on and there won't be anyone to greet him on the other side, alone and never knowing that he was waiting for him. He made a promise to Rem that he'd watch over him for her, that he'd lead him to his final destination where he could be with his family again, and now that he's lost that, what purpose does he have? He's terrified to let go himself, worried he'll pass onto the other side when Vash was right around the corner, but the thought of lingering without finding him again, missing his chance to be there for him when it's his turn, leaves him in an almost constant state of almost-panic.
I also just think it's kind of sweetly poetic, if in the end, he chose to continue the role he'd been forced into; take Vash where he's supposed to be. Only this time, it's his choice, and it won't be to his death. He wants to guide him to where he knows people are waiting for him, where he'll finally be happy and be at peace. He doesn't mind the fact that he's going to Hell, so long as he was able to be the one that leads Vash to the place where he won't have to be in pain ever again.
#Trigun#Trigun Maximum#Nicholas D. Wolfwood#Vash the Stampede#This probably is a bit insufferably angsty#I can't tell#I'm PMSing and having Vashwood feels and I'm making it eveyone else's problem!#But no really though I fuckin' LOVE ghosts in media!#Favorite trope 10/10 would rip my heart out again!#RP musings#Vashwood#Also yeah this may be completely out of character to other people but#S H R U G#This is just where my brain lead me when I started wondering what Wolfwood's ghost did after Trimax#Also I know it doesn't exactly fit canon but his Vash has started developing salt-and-pepper streaks in his black hair#and little age lines because he's like 500 YEARS OLD at that point or something#andI kind of love that mental image#Wolfwood still thinks he's the most beautiful thing on No Man's Land but he's VERY biased and has developed a bit of an unhealthy fixation

I want botw/totk zelink to have kids, because it would be cute and Link would be an amazing father and malewife
#zelink#totk zelink#you'll have to take post-totk cute family zelink from my cold dead hands#I built the dream home with four-seat dining table for a reason ok#Honestly contrary to what people say I think it would actually help Zelda grow and heal from her past#You can't get over something if you just run away from it#I also want them to have a family again after losing everyone#maybe I'm just projecting because I grew up in a home without love#so I know what it's like to have no family basically#people take a loving family for granted or think it's boring ig but for me it's a dream to have a positive healthy family full of joy#Friends are wonderful but they have their own lives and obligations. It's not quite the same#I also think not EVERYTHING needs to be the found family trope#that's starting to feel very over-pushed to me#I also dislike how the arguments against Zelda having a kid ever feel very radfem

Maccready is YET ANOTHER sadman deadwife™????!!!!!! asdfghjkl That's what? FOUR major characters in one game if you play Male Sole Survivor??? What did women DO to Bethesda's writers????
#He's still my son and I love him but COME ON😒🤪#I get it's the wasteland and people die a lot because of lack of medical access/violence but????#And also naturally with the NIGHTMARE of pre-modern medicine childbirth women & others who can give birth would be dying more#I refuse it he fucking adopted his kid! I also refuse to believe it's Little Lamplight Lucy. That'd be real cute but NO she deserves BETTER#Every female character deserves better but 'y know what I mean#(& Yes I know Deacon's backstory. It got spoiled for me. Fine with that because I'm so busy being disappointed by the lack of originality)#(I'm sure I'm rehashing an old frustration in this post.) Tis that sweet sweet game industry & gamer misogyny- innit? 🙃🙃🙃#Swear to god I NEVER EVER want to see this shitty overdone trope EVER AGAIN#It IS badass girlboss of Female Sole to have her husband fridged for HER plot though 😌#*I originally said three major characters and then I remembered Kellog's backstory. swear to god if there are MORE I'm writing todd himself#fallout#fallout 4#fo4#kat plays fo4

i will never forget how this fandom treated nabu malikata for not reciprocating king deshret's feelings of affection. she genuinely did not understand the concept behind the emotion of love, how was she ever to reciprocate something she could not understand nor grasp.
but this is just me & my bias more than likely because i am easily suckered in by the unrequited love trope.
#ooc. ( ready...action! )#watched a friend's stream where he was going through the things he collected in sumeru & his findings#it just brought back a lot of memories from when sumeru was still slowly unraveling#so much of the fandom made it sound like nabu malikata just did not care for deshret#she did care that was her friend but she just couldn't return the emotions he had for her#because she didn't understand what those emotions even were or what they meant or why it was he even saw her the way he did#i'm rambling in the tags i'm sorry but it was an enjoyable stream#it refreshed a lot of sumeru backstory & lore for me#also i thought the unrequited love trope was popular?#so it caught me so off guard that so many people got so defensive over her not feeling the same way#it could just be me again because i'm a huge fan of that trope

Memory Problems.#if i equip a memory that isn't ''memory of self'' does that do anything. given what looping tropes generally involve#and the stress on ''as long as i have a job i can keep going'' etc.#and you know. the ghosts/'reflections' in the hallways sometimes and siffrin's instinctive jump to comparing them to Sadness + 'remnants'#maybe after a few more loops if i replace self with memories of looping...#oh siffrin closes their eyes like they're sleeping when they get frozen now. fuck yeah#chewing on the story. i wonder if the record scratch ''you already have this item'' and the warning to not act suspicious is going to come#to a head. and also how many acts there are left to cover stuff#it's also very fun that since sif is the only one who keeps levels while looping the more loops they go through the closer they get to#being able to like. one-shot the sadness mobs in the castle. especially with an attack from each craft. love mechanics that reflect charact#thinking about that book in the library or secret library? that had a big shiny tree on it that we couldn't read. and the password and the#book in the dormant library we also couldn't read. big tree probably the favor tree? maybe related to the island no one can think about wit#out a headache? which might be like the loop record scratch? removed from time vs siffrin and the king's respective time crafts?#not to mention the party member side quests <3#i just started act 3 if this somehow shows up in tags no one tell me anything. unless maybe if i definitely already missed something#the way i keep misspelling dormont as dormant due to. well. the obvious lmao#wait. i want to be able to find this again. sorry everyone#isat blogging

Any of you ever find a book that is written excellently, but everything about it other than the expert use language is so terrible it annoys you? And I mean an abnormal amount of annoys you.
The building of suspense is done right, nothing is revealed too early, each word either builds or smooths tension at just the right moments, the worldbuilding is unique and fascinating, time is not wasted on describing how things look and is instead used to describe how things are experienced by the characters, there's clearly a political situation or twenty at hand and mysteries asking to be solved at every new location visited.....but the goddamn plot is entirely focused on a generic love triangle between a comparatively helpless, clueless female protagonist and two male villains who are both not just bad options but actually dangerous and impulsive and should not be allowed anywhere near the protagonist or any girl, woman, or other love interest, or maybe just people and things in general. And their names are in fucking english.
#i'm becoming the thing i've sworn to oppose#people should read what they like and nobody has any say about what anyone should or should not like#but now i'm experiencencing the other side of things aka people are also allowed to dislike what they dislike and say so#again if you like generic love triangels this is fine and good and i want happiness for you#and i can bring you the books i dislike but think you might enjoy#but fucking hell some romance tropes annoy me so much#there's so much worldbuilding potential here#there's just the right type and amount of political factions and social whatever going on to have an entire game of who out-manouvers who#there's UNEXPLORED MAGICAL LOCATIONS WITH DEEP HISTORY AND WEIRD PHENOMENA#MYSTERIOUS ARTEFACTS#MAGIC. COMPLETELY UNEXPLAINED MAGIC.#AND ANCIENT FAMILY LINE OF CRIMINALS HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT AND BEING NICE TO PEOPLE#AND YOU FOCUS ON THIS ONE GIRL WHO CAN'T DO THINGS AND KEEPS FOLLOWING WHOEVER SEEMS THE MOST LIKELY TO KILL HER AT THAT MOMENT#i'm so fucking done with this protagonist why are you stupid

The Poisons We Drink
YA urban fantasy
a girl who brews powerful potions is coerced into making potions to interfere with D.C.’s most influential politicians in an attempt to stop a dangerous Witcher Registration Act from passing, and will do anything to protect her sister after their mother is killed
bi MC, nonbinary love interest
arc from netgalley
#The Poisons We Drink#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#this is…….a lot of cool ideas but also so many elements and high stakes that i kinda lost track of them#the pacing is weird. the worldbuilding is random?#why is brewing SO overpowered & risky for her but the other powers seem to have pretty normal low-scale risks?#it’s definitely ambitious and has some cool ideas and also some great characters just. didn’t execute as well as I’d like#as much as we’re told the main threat is the government trying to put through a Registration Act#most of the actual antagonism we see is from other Witchers?#like the systemic discrimination got a bit lost in the witcher family drama and murder politics#important things to say about oppression and police violence but like....idk#she has this ‘deviation’- essentially evil sentient magic inside her head (and you KNOW I love that trope)#but it’s barely explained and very underutilised? other than helping her get out of bad situations you could take it out & would barely#change anything#also it’s explained at the start that she’s an empath but other than the very occasional mention I kept forgetting#will also note that I bumped this up my tbr because I saw the author talking/promoting it as the MCs sister being aroace but no mention#maybe it’ll come up in a sequel (there weren’t really any places where it would have made sense to bring it up here) but idk#(just the way the author was asking for advice on how to write an ace character and stuff you’d assume that they’d….put that in the book?)#not really a critique of the book itself but anyway. I really wanted to like this but the way it was put together just did not vibe with me#edit: I saw the author say on twitter that the version used for ARCs was before ace stuff was added and that there's other signif changes?#so perhaps that will be there! i'm not sure if I want to read it again but might skim just to see what that's about

The trope tier list thing made me realise that I like soulmates AUs far more than the actual soulmates trope. Which sounds a bit contradictory, but it's because those AUs usually explore the implications of being soulmates, while--if it's not really the focus of a work--it often feels like it's just there to make the love "more special✨"
#like 'regular' love isn't good enough#this is also where i go against wayhaven canon#in particular for yael and nate#what they have is strong and special#their feelings may overwhelm them at times#but it's not something that is unique#they could feel this way about other people as well#now i don't know yet how i will reconcile this with canon#seeing as it will probably play a role in future books#and yes i'm aware that it might create issues with characters#again especially with n as it seems they are the most likely to have encountered these feelings in the past#but that's a problem for future me#as for soulmate explorations--i'll leave that to others whose thoughts i'd happily read!#(all of this is personal preference ofc)#(no hate if you do like the trope!)
