Working in the field I work in, I hang with a lot of IT guys. So much so that it's given me...almost a reverse nostalgia? uno nostalgia? I don't know what to call it, but it's the emotional equivalent of "aw, tech guy, you love spending a half hour enthusiastically painting your grand vision for me! That's adorable! So oughts! It's like you haven't run face-first into an unspoken and immovable social/political dynamic yet!"

Kentucky court system needs to fire its web developers.

#are they trying to run ocr/optimization on uploads and then rejecting the filing if the process takes too long or output looks weird #and if not. what are they fucking doing #that requires calls to a paid remote pdf processing api on every fucking upload #this is clearly not a security/virus screening. they don't believe in those. they are the kentucky court system.#the law

not me finding out that fandom wikis do not have an api (which is like a specialised ui for programmers that a lot of websites have where you can more directly access resources off the website with programming tools, f.e. if one piece wiki had one, you could tell your coding languages like "hey get all the strawhat pirates' names and heights off their character pages and put them in my database here please" and it would be able to get that info off the wiki for you) so I will have to learn web scraping to get data off there for visualising ship stats project I have planned for my data analysis portfolio instead now smh

would you guys believe me if i said i used to develop discord bots years ago but stopped because it having over near 200k users overwhelmed me

#also it used to be integrated w an api that powered most of it but some users abused it #so a lot of features broke #and the creators of the api wouldnt give me access again due to what they searched and i understood that just fine #but i was a teenager at the time and it destroyed me lol #it was dumb but i was baby #at least i know better now #i did end up remaking the api features afterward it just ran slower since everything was hosted on a free node and my old shitty laptop
