U(n)F(inished) O(bject) Friday! ...since I'm busy on Wednesdays. Gonna try and make this a thing.
The creature moved with deliberate, mincing steps. Fox, crouched as he was in the strange, slightly glowing grass-like vegetation, thought its head might come up to his waist at most.
What he could see of it looked vaguely like pictures he had seen of creatures called ‘deer’: four slender legs, barrel-shaped body, and a delicate, wedge-shaped head, but that was where the resemblance stopped. For one thing, it didn't appear to have eyes. It made sense; down here, there wasn't any light to speak of.
Roughly where its eyes should have been, there were round luminescent spots. What purpose those served, Fox had no idea, but they did sort of look like eyes.
If it had ten of them.
Fox could just make out that it had some kind of horns growing out of its head, and that there was something *odd* about its neck. It also seemed to have a thick fur, needed to combat the cold, though he couldn't make out the color besides it was something dark.
But most of his interest was drawn to the ears. They were very likely how the creature was picking its way so precisely across the field. Massive compared to the head they were attached to, he could just about see they were flared, shallow, and cup-shaped. They tilted this way and that constantly in subtle movements. He could see it easily by the way they glowed in many evenly-spaced spots around the rim and down the cup of the ear itself in lines, brighter than the false eyes, and they pulsed gently to some mysterious rhythm. As it got even closer he could hear tiny ping noises. It was using *radar* to see. Fox stared, mesmerized by the creature. Those were *radar dishes* attached to its skull, he hadn't quite realized before… he was no naturalist, but even he had to admit it was a fascinating evolution.
The thing was coming a bit *too* close now, and Fox decided he should try to move away from it soon. It had to know he was there, or at least that some obstacle was, but it kept at its same, now slightly unnerving pace. He tensed his muscles, ready to move away from it, when there was a sudden squeak.
The deer moved, whipping around on one slender leg as its horns flared with sudden light, blinding and utterly unexpected in this gloom. Fox bit back a startled stream of swears, slamming his eyes shut and putting up a hand in pure reaction. Something *screamed* and he forced his eyes open against the painful light to see the deer’s mouth had opened.
Well. If you could call that a mouth. The entire snout had split into four equal juts of bone and teeth, and the lower part of the whole affair extended partway down its dark-grey furred neck. He could now see that the things on its throat were another pair of legs, smaller, which were currently both holding down its prey and helping to shove parts of the smaller animal into its maw.
The light from the branching horns was already fading. Fox cautiously got to his feet, prompting the ‘deer’ to look at him. It startled a little, swaying sideways, blood spraying from its throat at the unexpected movement. Fox hoped it was suddenly realizing he was too big to be prey, but either way.
As the creature turned back to its meal, Fox slipped away. He had a long way to go, and a mission to complete.

The Perfect Date
501st!Echo/Fem!Reader
Fictober 2024 Day 2 of 31
Words: 970
Summary: While on a date, you can't help but notice things you couldn't quite explain. Echo catches it too, and he is the first to figure out what's going on.
Clone Troopers Masterlist
Tumblr media
Being a bounty hunter meant that you were always aware of your surroundings. You had spent most of your professional life on your own, and never being able to let your guard down was an unfortunate side effect. If you allowed yourself to trust your environment enough to not keep a constant eye on who was coming and going at all times, you could be setting yourself up for attack, injury, or even death.
Even if the environment in question was a fast casual restaurant on the mid level of Coruscant, and you had a date sitting across from you in the booth.
“Is everything okay?” Echo asked, a look of worry coming across his face. “I can see if we can move tables if needed-”
Smiling, you shook your head. “Sorry, it’s a habit of mine to always be scanning the surroundings.”
Echo nodded, and it made sense that your actions might have worried him a little there. If you were on a date and the other person wouldn’t stop surveying the situation, you might have wondered if they actually wanted to be there in the first place. But for you, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Your work with the 501st meant that you were close to many of the clones there, but with Echo you had always shared a special connection. When he had nervously asked you out the last time you spoke, you had felt like you had suddenly been transported to a dream.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said. “It’s part of the reason why you’re the best at what you do.”
A bashful smile crossed your face at his words (something wholly uncharacteristic to the hardened action-ready operative you were used to being), and you reached out to take his hand across the table. Right as you opened your mouth to speak, you caught something in your peripheral vision.
The Republic cog vanished just as quickly as you had noticed it, and you knew only one person who had ever dared to get it tattooed in a place that conspicuous.
“Did you see something?” Echo asked.
Taking a moment to look around the dining room once more, you shook your head. “Thought I saw someone I recognized, but I guess not.”
Echo smiled. “Just let me know if you see my general, because I didn’t tell him that I was turning off my comm device tonight.”
You laughed. “Definitely. We can always pay and leave out the back door if necessary.”
***
Maker, Echo was perfect. The date was perfect, and you had no other way to describe it. It wasn’t the fanciest restaurant on Coruscant, but that didn’t matter (as long as there weren’t any bugs in your food you had no complaints). So when he suggested that the two of you take a walk along the streets, you immediately accepted.
Despite the reputation of crime and violence on its lower levels, there were some areas of Coruscant that were truly beautiful. Maybe it was just because you were there with someone you cared about, but you couldn’t help but feel happiness swell in your chest as you walked hand in hand with Echo down the street.
Out of the corner of your eye, you thought you saw a nearby bush rustle, but your lovestruck brain brushed it off as a stray loth cat or a trick of the wind. The night air, as charming as it could be in some case, also meant that some of the planet’s wildlife was starting to emerge as many residents retired to their homes for the evening.
You whirled around when you saw a flash of blue, but nothing was there. You were just about to chalk it up to the food you had eaten before you heard something that sounded suspiciously like a human voice.
Thankfully (for you, since it meant you weren’t going crazy), Echo heard it too. “Guys, I told you to knock it off,” he said, sighing as he spoke.
You had to stifle your laughter as Fives, Jesse, and Kix all emerged from various hiding spots. “I knew I saw you back at the restaurant,” you said, pointing at Jesse. “You didn’t even think to wear a hat or anything?”
“See, I told you!” Fives said, pointing at the stupid looking one on his head. “You should have covered up the tattoo a little!”
Echo’s face was in his hands, and you could tell he was feeling embarrassed. “What part of leave me alone for the evening do you di’kuts not get?”
“Come on, we were just making sure you were okay,” Fives said defensively.
“Yeah, she’s a top tier bounty hunter, what if this was all an elaborate ruse to kill you?” Jesse cut in.
“Actually, he’s the one who asked me out to dinner,” you said.
“Still, we wanted to make sure everything was okay,” Kix said, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“Everything is fine, now can you all go back to the barracks?” Echo asked, and you squeezed his hand in a comforting manner. No matter how much you reassured him that this did not change a thing, you knew he was still a little sheepish about his brothers’ interruption of your evening. Honestly, you probably should have expected something like this to happen.
Kix, Jesse, and Fives reluctantly agreed (but not without a few gentle jokes), and soon the two of you were along once again.
“I’m so sorry about them.”
Leaning up to place a soft kiss on his cheek, you just laughed. “Don’t be.”
Next time we’ll just plan everything in secret. If you’re interested in going out with me again that is.”
“Oh Echo,” you said, this time placing a soft kiss directly on his lips. “There will definitely be a next time.”
- the end -

"Alright, Kid. Show me what you've got." I did this sketch of my D&D versions Lilas and Saris sparring from his backstory MONTHS ago but never got around to coloring it. Sooo I decided to use the sketch for more of my ongoing digital practice.
Uhhh... more notes beneath a cut this time cause not sure if anyone cares about my planetary ramblings. :’D
The funny part is, when we started the game I didn't actually have any details for the planet Saris was trained on with Lilas ASIDE FROM random uninhabited place in Wild Space so I had to create details JUST for this piece and I only have vague stuff. I wanna flesh it out more!
Lilas calls the planet Kanlasi (Secret in Ryl according to the Coruscant Translator website) Surface of the planet consists of mostly grassland with sparse trees. Several river canyons, lakes, and oceans exist along the surface.
Various caves and caverns can be found in the cliff faces which much of the local wildlife uses as shelter. Many mineral and crystal (NOT KYBER) deposits exist around as well. Why this place has been untouched by most is anyone's guess.
Temp: Warm during days, chilly at nights. Unless you have plenty of water underground or in a cave is best during the day due to frequent lack of shade from the sun. Uninhabited except by various local wildlife creatures. (as well as a Chiss child and (formerly) a Twi'lek.)

Jacen's Verses
General Verses
A Long Time Ago - Jacen’s fifteen or sixteen with his whole life spread out in front of him but no idea what to do with it.  (No Vong unless specifically stated otherwise)
Death Doesn’t Discriminate - Jacen’s reaching adulthood in the midst of a war that could be the end of the galaxy as he knows it, fighting alongside his family and friends for survival and their way of life against an enemy like none he’d ever faced before. (Vong War Verse)
After the Storm - After the war things are slowly trying to return to normal, Coruscant is rebuilt and the Jedi try to find their footing.  Jacen is helping, as best he can, while still healing from his experiences during the war.
Awoken - TFA verse, Ben/Kylo Ren is Jacen’s older brother and Jacen has been active in the Resistance as a scout while hiding the training he had as a Jedi though he hadn’t yet reached the rank of Knight when Ben turned and the Academy was destroyed.  But upon feeling his father’s brush with death he’s returned to the Resistance base to be with his family while Han is in bacta and critical condition, reconnecting with his twin sister who left with their father all those years back.
Teen Rebel - Pre-Movies TFA verse; Han and Jaina have left, Anakin is presumed dead, and Jacen is growing up on a series of resistance bases with Leia.
Of Royalty - Leia stepped up as Queen of New Alderaan after the New Republic was up and running, with Han as her Consort.  Jaina is her heir and Jacen is about to step up as Senator for the New Alderaanian people.  Though all three children trained at their uncle’s academy under their father’s name to protect their identities only Anakin continued on to become a Jedi, as the twins felt their other duties necessitated them dropping out shortly before they would have been knighted.
Wanderer - Takes place during his post-Vong journey of self-discovery.  Jacen’s wandering the Outer Rim, searching for peace and trying to reconnect with the kind of Jedi he’d been before the war.
A Knight’s Tale - After returning from his years of wandering Jacen dedicates himself to the Order once again, traveling as needed to serve the people of the Alliance.  He remains a knight, turning down the offer of a promotion to Master as he doesn’t feel he’s ready for that title just yet.
Earth Born - Modern/Earth AU where Jacen is a wildlife photographer and zoology student, son of UN Ambassador Leia Organa, who attended a fancy international high school with his sister and friends as a teenager.
Muse-Specific Verses:
Tryptich - The Solo Twins are the Solo Triplets.  Jaina, Jacen, and Julian Solo are all on the Myrkr mission when Julian is lost in the destruction of the Voxyn Queen.
Lost and Found - Jacen disappeared in the Vong war and was never actually seen again, the Jacen Solo who returned and became Caedus was a clone created by Vergere so that she could hide the original at a secret home of hers in Wild Space.  Eventually he finds his way back, only to discover that his face is reviled and someone committed heinous crimes in his name
Knight Follows Queen - After the war Jacen spent a single night with the Queen Mother of Hapes, a culmination of the feelings they’d been forced to put on the back burner by circumstances, before leaving to try and figure out who he was to become in the aftermath of such a devastating conflict.  He essentially fell off the radar and completely out of contact with everyone he had known, thus never learning of the daughter he and Tenel Ka shared.  But when said daughter is kidnapped he senses Tenel Ka’s uncharacteristic rage and rushes back to discover what went wrong and how he can help.
Sideways - A freak hyperspace accident launches Jacen into a parallel world, one in which the local version of him was consumed by darkness and became the Sith Lord Darth Caedus.
Aldera - Fantasy AU!  Jacen has been sent to the courts of the Hapan Empire to gain their protection for the shattered remnants of the kingdom of Aldera.  The nobles back home hope he will marry the Empress, Tenel Ka, but he’s content to simply negotiate a protectorate status for his people.  Unless love so happens to bloom on its own.

💤 ☕️ 📚 for freja AND 🔫 ☁️ for beans. you don’t have to do all if that’s too much. i just want to know things please
forgot i could put asks under cuts. bask in the glory of my genius
💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily?
Sometimes. Freja has to force herself to sleep according to a regular schedule, because if left to her own devices she would routinely stay awake later and later into the night until it’s not night anymore and suddenly she’s going to bed at ten in the morning. Bedtime is an elusive thing if Freja isn’t careful. Regardless, it usually takes her about an hour to actually fall asleep once she’s in bed for the night/day.
💤 SLEEPING - what helps them sleep?
Melatonin supplements, mostly. It also helps tremendously to be lightyears away from any significant amount of sentient minds, which always press up on her mental barriers like their lives depend on it, but that’s often too much to ask.
☕️ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?
Freja likes cold drinks, largely because she’s prone to impatience about foods and WILL burn her mouth. Her go-to is just water but she’ll drink it at nearly any temperature. Doesn’t find lukewarm water to be gross unless it has taken on the flavor of the cup it’s in. Will drink dusty ‘i accidentally left this on my desk for two days’ water with reckless abandon.
📚 BOOKS - how were they at school? what is their best subject? what is their worst subject? do they have a favourite subject?
During her formative education at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Freja was mostly an above average student, which was especially impressive because by the time she had been brought into the Order she had not yet been taught how to read or do much else.
Freja’s absolute best subject was Intergalactic History, however it wasn’t her favorite - that honor went to the basic Biology classes that were available to younglings. She also favored the classes that touched on landscape ecology.
Her most notable academic characteristic was, unfortunately, her near inability to do basic arithmetic. Grasping the concepts and principles behind equations and formulas and whatever else they could throw at a child under 13 wasn’t too difficult, but things like multiplication tables frustrated her to the brink of tears. At no point in her adult life is Freja without a calculator within arm’s reach.
(Subsequently, she had a bitch of a time actually getting through her math prereqs for Wildlife Bio. Some may suggest she might have cheated her way through those classes but nobody can prove anything.)
BEANS MY BOY (i should mention he belongs to the Intergalactic Zoological Society but has been assigned to Freja, so when i say “Freja’s BD Unit”, that’s how i mean it)
🔫 PISTOL - do they trust people easily? how easily will they turn their back to someone? have they been backstabbed before? will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?
He is the picture of innocence thank you next question.
People of varying quality of character come and go throughout Beans’ life, but it just never occurs to him that he shouldn’t trust them unequivocally. He Is Here To Help! after all. Just a simple BD Unit making his way through the universe. Trusting people is Beans’ default state of being. (This is problematic during wartime.)
It also never occurs to Beans that he can just... abandon others. He may be taken away, assigned elsewhere, but so far he’s never had to grapple with the choice between staying in someone’s life or leaving it of his own volition. Nobody has come close to making him think about it either.
That said, he might do things that could be considered ‘betrayal’ without viewing it in that light himself. His primary objectives involve the observation, aggregation, and distribution of field data, and the assistance of others also working towards the same goals. Perhaps he might share information that not ought to be so freely shared. Perhaps he records things that shouldn’t be recorded. Perhaps he has few, if any boundaries. Scruples? None. Malice? Also none.
It’s never a matter of intent, though. This is what gets him wiped. He’s recalled from Freja’s care and, not knowing what the IZS intends to do, she sends him back and never sees him again. Freja considers it a betrayal, both on her part and on the IZS, and is impotently furious about it for the rest of her life. If the people around her wonder why her disposition takes a nosedive halfway through the war, they need not look any further.
☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon
Here’s some mood whiplash for ya. Beans keeps watch while Freja sleeps! He perches up near her head and folds himself up all cute-like and just. Stays there. Granted the most he’s ever had to ‘protect’ Freja from was a stray ground squirrel on Yavin 4, and his main defenses are beeping loudly and scrambling about like a headless chicken... but he’s helping!
Speaking of chickens, he loves them. They don’t always love him but there was a flock that adopted him on one of the IZS campuses and he’s been chickenkin since.
More: his idea of helping when his handlers catch sick usually involves grasping a cough-drop in one foot and hopping up to their resting forms on the other and “gently” letting gravity deposit the cough-drop on their face. Space Montezuma’s Revenge? Cough-drop. Rabies? Cough-drop. Malaria? Cough-drop. Take your medicine. He’s helping.

Anakin Teaches You How To Drive Headcanons- Anakin Skywalker x gn Reader
Masterlist
This wasn’t requested, but in honor of my second attempt at passing my drivers test in a couple of weeks, I had a fun little thing bouncing around my brain that I wanted to put out. have fun 😝✨
Tumblr media
You never needed to know how to drive an airspeeder because you came from a more rural planet where transportation mostly consisted of walking, riding on the backs of various indigenous wildlife, or occasionally coming across a run-down speeder bike.
When you got to Coruscant, you always relied on taking the busy streets or the bus to get places you needed to go. Anakin insisted you take an airspeeder instead— it was safer, faster, and much cleaner than slumming it around down in the crowded alleyways.
You had to tell him it wasn’t really a possibility for you... although you knew the basics of piloting starfighters, that knowledge did not carry over to airspeeders.
Anakin offered to teach you.
He picked you up on your balcony, seated in a slick-looking, boujee yellow airspeeder.
“Where’d you even get this?” You asked him, taking the hand he offered to help you get into the drivers seat as he slid over to the passenger side.
“Oh, just some senator.”
“They’re letting us use it?”
“They’re letting us borrow it...” from the look on his face, they were not. He shrugged and said, “Look, what they don’t know can’t hurt them.”
You looked at the shiny exterior of the car. It was one of the more expensive ones, no doubt. Anakin truly had an eye for picking the finer things in life.
“If I crash this...” you warned.
“I know how to cover our tracks. It wasn’t us.”
You laughed at this, and then turned toward the controls. There were handles, buttons, levers, flashing lights. You thought a good place to start was by grabbing onto the levers.
“Alright, so these handles are to steer— turn left to go left, right to go right— the pedals by your feet are break and accelerate, this lever puts you in reverse, this one puts you in drive, there’s your headlight, that’s your turn signal—“ and on and on and on.
Your brain was whirring with all this information, sometimes Anakin’s brain moved too fast and he didn’t realize he’d left you in the dust. But it really was something you could handle— not that much different from a star fighter, after all.
So when he asked, “Got it?” You nodded your head and pressed the lever by your feet.
You didn’t move
You pressed again and again and again, jamming your foot down harder each time. You checked the dash to see if you were in drive. You were. You looked at Anakin, confused.
He leaned over and peered down at the levers by your feet. “That’s the break,” he laughed, and then stopped suddenly. “... I hope you’re not planning on driving with your left foot.”
“A foot for each peddle right? Left goes on break, right goes on go?”
“No.”
After squabbling over the senselessness of that rule, he got you to practice going between break and accelerate with your right foot only before actually beginning for real this time.
“Okay, step on accelerate, gently now—“
You pushed the pedal down and went shooting into the sky, narrowly avoiding another speeder as you yanked the steering wheel to straighten yourself out.
“Force! I said gentle!”
You lifted your foot off go and slammed it on break instead, causing you both to pitch forward and almost smack your heads into the dashboard.
“Y/n you have to go! You’re in the middle of the airway!”
“What?? What do you mean?!” You yelled in panic, desperately yanking at the levers to reverse, go forward, anything. There were speeders coming at you from both ways, and you were t-ed up across multiple lanes.
Anakin reached across you and set the settings straight. He ordered you to press go and took hold of the steering, maneuvering you safely away from the airway.
Once you were in the clear, he dropped back into his seat and let out a big breath.
“Okay, bad idea to start you out up there.”
“I SUCK!!!” You cried.
“No no no! That was my mistake! You’re doing great!”
You let out another sound of despair and then tapped on accelerate gently. The speeder smoothly flew forward a couple inches, so you pressed down harder until you got to a good speed.
“See? You’ve got this,” Anakin encouraged, reaching for the safety handle by his side. “Now you’re approaching a building, so turn the levers slowly...”
It was very jerky, but you avoided crashing into the building so it was a win in your book.
“Good!”
You decided you needed to smooth out your turns, so you kept the lever all the way to the left and made donuts in the open air. Then you practiced going the other way.
“Now make figure 8’s around the skylights,” Anakin suggested, so you went around and around these lights in circles until you were dizzy and your turns were perfect. When you wanted to stop, you let up on accelerate and abruptly jammed on break again.
“Oof— geez,” Anakin braced a hand on the dashboard. “You don’t have to slam on the pedals. Just be slow and gentle, it’ll make it a much smoother ride.”
After experimenting a bit more in the free space, you said you were ready to go on the streets again.
“Are you sure?” Anakin asked nervously. You nodded. “Alright, head for the airway but stop before going on. You have to look both ways to make sure no one’s coming at you from either direction.”
You did as told, trusting his instincts more than yours to tell you when to go. When he gave the signal, you burst across the lane and began driving. You didn’t know why Anakin was freaking out again.
“You’re in the wrong lane!” Anakin grabbed for the steering wheel to get you to turn around, but you slapped his hands away.
“I can’t learn when you’re trying to drive for me!”
“You can’t learn if we’re both dead!”
You managed to inch your way into the other lane just as another speeder went whizzing by. Anakin thanked the force this backstreet wasn’t as busy as the usual highways in the main streets of Coruscant, otherwise you’d be toast by now.
“Alright,” Anakin took another calming breath. “There’s a stoplight coming up. You know what the signals are right?”
“Yes sir.”
“Okay, so just go straight after the light.”
You peered around the area, waiting for the light to turn green. You ended up spotting your favorite cafe place and nudged Anakin with your elbow. “You wanna get some drinks?”
“Sure, but we can circle back around if you just go straight.”
“But it’s right there. Why can’t I just take a left?”
Anakin has faith in you, but he saw his life flash before his eyes. “Fine.. take a left.”
He instructed you to put your turn signal on, then explained how you’re supposed to wait for oncoming traffic to go before you and then watch for more oncoming speeders so that you could take the left turn.
The light turned green, and for some reason your jumpy brain had you slam on the gas pedal and skirt through the intersection, bypassing all speeders and causing them to stomp on their breaks to avoid hitting you.
“I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry!” You screamed as you sped along, swirving this way and that to get the speeder under control. Multiple honks followed after you, and it wounded your feelings more than you ever imagined it would.
“Hey... they’re honking at me...” you said sadly, peering behind you at the angry cars.
Anakin straightened the levers as you started to swerve. “Just— just focus on parking. Look. A pull-through spot up ahead.”
You were actually phenomenal at parking. If phenomenal meant being crooked across the lines and taking up at least 3 spaces.
When you turned the engine off, you looked at Anakin hesitantly. He was staring straight a head, blinking the disbelieving look out of his eyes.
“I’m never stepping foot in a speeder ever again,” you decided, confidence plummeting.
This snapped Anakin out of it, and he took your hands in his. “Don’t say that! It’s your first day. Driving in a speeder is much different than a star fighter, there’s many more obstacles and rules and regulations. As far as first days go, you’re doing better than even I did!”
“Really?”
You weren’t, but he lied because he loves you.
You both went in to get your drinks and then Anakin insisted he drive the way back home.
You wanted to focus on your drink anyway so you let him. Honestly, you were done testing your luck today and were just happy you didn’t crash the damn thing.
Anakin dropped you off back on your balcony again and promised to come over later after he returned the speeder. He also promised he’d take you out driving again— “This weekend, when the streets aren’t so busy...”
With lessons from the best pilot in the galaxy, you think you’ll be driving your own speeder in no time 🥴

Extremely subjective opinions about Star Wars planets
Inspired by @carmarthenfan. I did my top ten faves, and then gave up trying to put these in order, so they're literally in the order they occurred to me.
(This is not conclusive; I left a bunch out. There are a lot of Star Wars planets, y’all.)
1. Tatooine.
Iconic. Terrible place to live. Great place for making your characters suffer. Who cares that the ecology makes no sense when you have wide open spaces, exposed rock layers and salt flats, and a rockin' aesthetic? Not to mention wretched hives of scum and villainy and also, like, ACTUAL DRAGONS.
(Thesis: literally half of what makes ANH so compelling is that it's set on Tatooine.)
2. Yavin IV (Legends)
AKA Jedi Jungle Friendship Camp or Space Guatemala. If I was going to live anywhere in the GFFA, it'd be here. Temple ruins (even if they are infested with Sith ghosts), hot springs, rainforests, biodiversity, awesome eclipses and a giant blood-red gas giant constantly overhead, not much in the way of development... what's not to like? (Okay, the Sith ghosts are a problem, but they got rid of those eventually.)
3. "Forest moon" of Endor, ROTJ
Redwood forests are awesome. I'd totally live in an Ewok treehouse. They're the only place in the galaxy with handrails!!
4. Coruscant
I'd probably hate to live there, but it's a great setting for fic. A surprisingly large amount of wildlife and plant life, despite the rampant development. Epic architecture, lots of culture, Luke has a cool retreat in the Manarai Mountains and Han and Kyp go skiing at the poles. Home of "the room where it happens".
(most of my fics to date are set on Tatooine, Yavin or Coruscant, lol)
5. Alderaan
Too bad the Empire blew it up. :( IDK about the whole Killik business, but Space Switzerland seems great, and I'd live there in a heartbeat. An actual multi-biome world, wow! I should write more fics about this place.
6. Myrkr (Legends)
Jungle planet with metallic trees and furry, Force-repelling lizards. Also giant vornskrs that use the Force to hunt. Don't forget Talon Karrde's awesome tree base!
7. Dagobah
I love this place, even if living there would be a challenge. Actually kinda has a functioning ecology in canon. Love the sheer abundance of snakes, plus dragonsnakes and the mangrove-like gnarltrees, which are the adult form of giant white spiders (I love plant-animal weirdness like this).
8. Mulako Comet (Legends)
Not technically a planet, but how can you not love a resort carved out of a giant frozen comet HOW. 10/10, we stan. The perfect place for a romantic getaway, especially if you are a water nerd like Luke.
9. Vjun (Legends)
The Gothiest goth place ever to Goth. Has names like "River Weeping" and carnivorous moss that nibbles on Obi-wan. <3. Vader's Goth castle was originally here before the writers moved it to Mustafar.
10. Honoghr (Legends)
Another terrible place to live, thanks to the Empire's sabotage, but I love there's actually an attempt at an ecological plot line here (Timothy Zahn is surprisingly good at those). A single biome world, but for a legit (and sad) reason. I should write some fics about this place.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Corellia (Legends) - It's okay, I guess? I'm not sure how I feel about the Corellian trilogy in general, but there are some things with the Selonians and the Drall that could be interesting for fic? Also, Treasure Ship Row is cool.
Kessel (Legends) - Hell-realm. Not sure if Kevin J. Anderson's "glitterstim" is the same as "spice," but Han and Kyp have to fight off giant spiders in the dark underground mine, which is certainly dramatic. Had a moon until a prototype Death Star blew it up.
Ithor (Legends) - JUNGLE PLANET POPULATED BY BOTANY NERDS, SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. But they won't let you actually explore the surface, because it's sacrilege. :(
Belsavis (Legends) - Hoth on the surface, Yavin in the rift valleys (but with, like, plantations), plus underground tunnels full of monsters and Jedi artifacts. Home of a secret Jedi botany master and his plant friends, so I'm in favor.
Chad (Legends) - Mostly ocean planet--I guess Space Earthsea, but with more geological activity? Callista makes it sound dreamy and idyllic in her flashbacks, but all the native Chadra-Fan are trying to GTFO, so I dunno.
Nam Chorios (Legends) -Like Tatooine, I would probably hate living there, but it's a great setting for a fic. The perpetual twilight would get old fast, but I love the terraformed ecology, the sentient rocks and the Force storms. Drochs are super creepy, though.
Hijarna (Legends) - There are ruins and sweeping vistas. What can I say, Karrde knows how to pick a secret base. :)
Dathomir (Legends) - Rancors have to be native to somewhere, so why not Dathomir? Courtship of Princess Leia is hokey and weird as all get-out, but it did give us Teneniel Djo, and I love her.
Hapes (Legends) -100% better at you than everything, and they know it. Leave them to it.
Yavin 8 (Legends) - Giant snakes and giant eagles... who literally eat children. Kinda weird being in a place where humanoids are on the bottom of the food chain. Love the Melodies' amphibious lifestyle, though.
Wayland (Legends) - Endor with the serial numbers filed off. Still love it, though. And Palpatine built a lair in a giant mountain! Props to him.
Ryloth (Legends) - sounds like an actual hell realm, but a desert planet? One half in perpetual sun, one half in perpetual darkness, and only a very narrow habitable zone? I’m game.
Msst (Legends) - Terrible, if accurate, name. All we ever see is the eponymous mist, plus giant pink creatures that numb you with poison and devour you alive.  Brakiss's home planet. No wonder he hates everything. On the plus side, his mom got to see Luke Skywalker naked, so good for her.
Kashyyyk - TREE WORLD, WE GO HARD (part II). Except I don't think the Wookiees have handrails, do they?
Hoth - Ice, ice, baby. Ecology makes no sense; it's a fucking glacier. I would hate living there, but I've read so many fluff fics about snowfall fights and sex in X-wings and supply closets that I feel a kind of fondness for it.
Byss (Legends) - Dark. Hidden. Secret. Goth as fuck. I like it. Exegol, but with more class.
Ahch-To - Skellig Michael is great, but too recognizable as itself to really be a good stand-in for somewhere else. Puffins are better than porgs. Great place to hide, but I stand by my claims that the Jedi order could not have arisen there. Love the aesthetic. The Caretakers deserved way better!
Naboo - Space Italy. Would definitely live there. Closest thing we see to Dinotopia in the GFFA. (Tell me Theed isn't Waterfall City!)
Kef Bir - why not just let the original forest moon have multiple biomes? It's okay to have multiple-biome worlds, I promise, we wont get confused. Epic sweeping grasslands, steep cliffs, massive waves. I love what little we see of it.
Crait - you're going to film a Star War on the Bolivian salt flats and NOT make an epic dream sequence with the night sky reflected on the salt?? What. Hoth with red dust. Crystal foxes look like Vulpix from Pokemon, and I like them.
Ilum - cool ice planet gets turned into planet-destroying superweapon and blown up. Not a fan.
Bespin - I don't know about the ecology, but 10/10 for aesthetics.
Nal Hutta / Nar Shaddaa - Ecological disaster. Gross and full of Hutts.
Niraun (Legends) - I don't like caves and that's pretty much all we see. Especially if those caves are filled with carnivorous hordes of Space Army Ants.
Gamorr (Legends) - "Procedures programs for visiting Gamorr consist of a single line: DO NOT VISIT GAMORR. Really!” Especially do not visit in the season known as "slushtime".
Af'El (Legends) - I know very little about it, but it seems cool? "The Dark World". Home planet of the "wraiths" (Defel) and the homunculus wasps.
Kijimi - "Disneyworld with space facism". Swirling snow and stone looks cool at night. Too bad that fight scene was such a mess.
Takodana - it's the English Lake District, I'm never going to be able to suspend my disbelief to believe it's anything else.
D'Qar / Ajan Kloss - Yavin IV knockoffs. If you want me to care, you're gonna have to give me something better.
Exegol -  this “planet” is just a CGI soundstage with a floating pyramid/arena whatever, and lightning. Weather instantly improved when Palpatine died, which strongly suggested he liked it that way. Knockoff Byss.
Mustafar - Literal hell-realm. Lava does not work like that. And apparently, ROTS insists it also has snow and trees, which seems like a little too late.
Canto Bight - you'd think people with that much money would have a better-looking planet. ughhhh.

Star Wars: Episode 3.5
“The Revenge of the Gray”
.✫*゚・゚。.☆.*。・゚✫*.
As I look into the square of glass I use as a mirror and into my own gaze, I can see how empty I have become with time. It makes me wonder how long I have looked like this, if there was anything I could’ve done to slow it or stop it. There’s no particular reason anyone should really look this way. It does not take long to accept it.
The hazel in my eyes is brought out by the taupe shade underneath, and the paling skin surrounding it. My chapped lips are emphasized by the weather. I can see the oil in my hair, the grease. And the skin, the same paling skin, is dry and looks almost painfully stretched over my body. If the people of Coruscant saw me right now, I think most of them would faint. And while I personally don’t care about this, a part of my brain conjures up what I’d look like standing next to one of them.
There’s so many people inhabiting Coruscant that my mind keeps changing exactly which one I’m sitting next to in this scenario. One of the politicians? A model? A traveler? Someone from the underworld? Who’s to say. In my mind, the specifics don’t matter. I already know my own point. So why have I been sitting here like this for however long now?
The voice in my head tells me to get up and go hunting. Ilum sunshine after a long night guarantees the appearance of the wildlife. Even the fish at the lake swim closer to the surface in an attempt to feel the heat on their scales. This makes it easy for me to gather them into my netting. Besides that, panthers will make for good meat and snowfeather birds provide hearty supply. I am in no theoretical rush.
So, why does it feel otherwise?
The days have been blending together recently. Perhaps it is because of the Ilum rotation schedule, or the weather which has fallen harsher and quicker, or even simply my own poor timing. Three sunrises ago, I rolled from my bed and onto this very wooden floor. The sudden surface against my body had blood running from my head, my nose. It had never happened before that. And fourteen days before that, every fish in the lake bobbed to the surface, dead. The next morning, they were fine.
I purse my lips at my reflection in the mirror like I’m going to kiss myself silly. I angle my head left, right, up, and down, staring at myself. Then I breathe out, and stand up.
For the Ilum climate, humans will need to dress appropriately. Around my waist, I wrap burlap material. I also apply this to the skin that my top and bottoms do not cover, such as my forearms down and my calves to my feet. Then I drape a light coat over me, along with socks. Fur boots I modified myself, a fur coat, and hunting gloves follow. Finally, I wear a mask that keeps the lower half of my face warm. My hood will keep the rest of my head in working condition. As for the Ilum fauna, I hold both a spear and a spearhead attached to a chain that wraps around my palm snugly; to hunt and defend myself at the same time.
As I secure the buttons of my coat, a glint of silver draws my eye. It is across the open layout of the cabin, under a heap of cloth that is under the pail I use to gather water. Not terribly strong, but obviously enough to steal my mind from the moment. My brows crease. Hadn’t I tossed it out?
My hand moves both the pail and the cloth to wrap around the silver cylinder. I stare down at it, confused, feeling the weight settle in my hand. Truly, I could’ve sworn that I’d thrown the thing out a while ago- into the lake, over the cliff, anywhere but in my place of living. But now that I think about it, I can’t find the memory of me actually doing that. Thus, it remains in my hand.
It’s not my lightsaber. It’s too simple, too delicate, too light. When I roll it in my hand, something clicks around on the inside as if it weren’t put in place properly. Dust has already begun collecting on every side of the hilt and handle, although I can’t say the exact day that I had stripped this from one of the temples near by. I also can’t say why. There’s nothing inside myself that reflects an urge to remember anything from life as a Jedi. I hardly find it within myself to to think of it unprovoked. So why does it catch my eye now? Why is it here?
I let it sit in the dip of my palm for another minute, listening to my own mind grow quieter and quieter. Then it is silent. Not even the wind outside, nor the snow, the weather, dare grows louder than the silence I conduct.

Meeting Aitax and getting involved in the Clone Wars
And no those two things are not synonymous.
As it turns out working for the senate pays really well and eventually, Zalia has more money than she knows what to do with. Especially since She started sharing a room with Jiya. Zalia, being the Jedi raised being that she is ultimately goes to Jiya for ideas on what to spend her money on.
Surprise! Jiya thinks she should get a ship. Yeah, no one is surprised. (Jiya is slightly surprised that Zalia is so good at saving her credits.)
And thus they gain a ship. Or well Zalia gains a ship and entrusts it to Jiya to pilot. Zalia is a decent pilot but Jiya is better.
They spend the next period of time exploring parts of the galaxy that they hadn't yet seen. On Jiya's days off that is. Eventually, Jiya drops her job in the senate as well and they permanently move onto the ship and earn credits with odd jobs when needed.
Jiya introduces Zalia to an old friend/older brother figure, Aitax, who spends his days as a mechanic. He teases the pair a lot and was very quick to adopt Zalia as his second younger sister (much to her delight). He is almost constantly neck-deep in the girl's ship as he does all sorts of modifications and upgrades. He falls asleep on their ship often enough that Zalia just set up a room for him on the ship. Eventually, he just moved onboard and that was that. He only really pretended to resist at first.
Then began the Clone Wars
For the most part things for the trio continued as usual. Sometimes slightly longer routes were used to avoid space battles. And then Zalia was approached for a job. Or well kind of. Jocasta Nu seeks out Zalia one of the few times the trio is on Coruscant. Unlike most Jedi, she had actually noticed the missing presence. Mostly because no one else spent nearly as much time in the Archives as Zalia did. Master Nu however did not inform the council when it became obvious that they did not know. She had done her research first and been quite happy with Zalia's drive for knowledge. That and the force told her so.
Anyway.
Jocasta Nu had recently been made aware that they may be some plots involved in the war. And while the Council had decided against doing anything about it the force was urging her to do something. Meditating for quite some time on the issue she began creating a backup of what she deemed the most important documents. Mostly History of the Jedi, Medical Journals and other such information. (of course the whole thing with the Self Updating Jedi Holocron happened too but you don't keep all your eggs in one basket no?). When she had amassed a good deal of datachips she approached Zalia and asked her to keep them save in the case of the Republic falling. Zalia- our knowledge loving nerd- was pretty much always going to agree. She only hesitates to drag Jiya and Aitax into it. Jiya accepts for her. Aitax thinks his siblings can be really dumb sometimes.
So now they have a crate full of contraband datachips. Aitax begins to install some cavities in the ship to hide the various staches of chips.
They beginning plotting.
They're going to need to put all of these chips somewhere eventually and they're going to need more people too. Eventually. They have a big ship for now.
Of course, practical plotting quickly turns to plotting that is ... less practical. ie where else is there invaluable information that may be lost in the war and can they get their hands on it.
Aitax is mostly against the irrational extra danger his sisters would be putting themselves into.
At one point he tries to stage an intervention and says something along the lines of "And what will you do if they try shooting at you?" and naturally Zalia says that she would deflect the blaster fire with her lightsaber and proceeds to pull it out much to Aitax's surprise.
Then begins the are you a Jedi conversation but with much less making out afterwards.
Aitax doesn't have any more arguments so they continue plotting.
But first new archive location. Eventually, they decide to set up on Hoth. Obviously, Zalia knows of an ancient Jedi structure that is supposed to be there so they go, scout, that out. It takes a lot of time and a fair bit of listening to the force to find the building. It had become a little bit buried over time. It's just a tad dilapidated and there has definitely been some wildlife in and out over the many many years it had been abandoned. However, it's not on the map and a building is a building, right? And so they reluctantly begin to clean up the mess the animals have left them and begin repairs on the structure.
The building itself is below the surface like a big burrow. Much smaller than the Jedi Temple on Coruscant but large enough that it'll be quite some time before they fill it up with knowledge.
Aitax is already planning on all the tech upgrades to make.
They quickly decide that they are going to need more credits if they're going to make this place more liveable.
And what pays well really, really quickly? Bounty Hunting and smuggling.
Of course, this calls for serious-time and talks where they discuss what they would and wouldn't do as a group.
Aitax makes a mental note to find a med bot.

THE KINGDOMS OF GALAIA.
the world of galaia is radial, with space mountain in the middle with eight kingdoms surrounding it. in clockwise order, the kingdoms are thus:
naboo, a coniferous forest kingdom, and the homeland of padmé’s mother and father. it is divided into the provinces of alderaan, theedside and gunga, and is home to humans and gungans.
dagobah, a swamp/rainforest kingdom with rich and varied wildlife. it has the sub-provinces kashyyyk and endor, is the native home of wookies, ewoks and yoda’s species.
cato neimoidia, a forest, grass and rockland kingdom known for its bridge cities, its acid rain and its eternal fog. home to the neimoidians.
shili, a kingdom of colorful grasslands home to the togruta. shili is like barely even mentioned in the main series but i have a major togruta bias so.
greater tatooine, a desert kingdom. it is subdivided into the provinces of tatooine, ryloth and nal hutta. it is the most diverse kingdom, home to humans, twi’leks, dugs, tusken raiders, jawas and hutts.
mustafar, a kingdom of lava, with volcanic rivers of cursed fire. it is home to the mustafarians. anakin burned here just as in canon, but his injuries were less severe and he had done so for a heroic reason rather than a villainous one.
kamino, the kingdom of the seas, split into three provinces: kamino proper, mon calamari and ando. the home of the kaminoans, the quarren, the mon calamari and the aqualish.
hoth, a frozen wasteland where no life was thought to live, until tribes of wampas and whipids were discovered there. ok i know whipids are technically from toola in canon and wampas are only semi-sentient but this is an AU i do what i want XDDDDD
space mountain itself has two populations within it, one in coruscant and the other in exegol.
coruscant is the great city inside the right-side-up of the mountain. it is considered a holy city, as it was grown from the power of space mountain itself. it is home to a population consisting predominantly of humans, as humans were born here from the mountain itself, but it has sizable populations of other species.
exegol is the empire that exists inside a place that can be most easily described as a “reverse mountain”--an upside-down hollowed out mountainous structure directly underneath space mountain. it is the home of demonkind. the more menacing species in star wars such as the anzati and yuuzhan vong are classified as species of demons, so they would live in exegol.
it should be noted that both coruscant and exegol are necessary to maintain the balance of the mountain, with light and dark equal and united. malvina luminaire’s plan to shift space mountain’s balance permanently toward the light would have eventually doomed coruscant, exegol, and the eight kingdoms surrounding it.
were space mountain to be an actual movie, there is no way all of this information could be fit into it. instead, the information would have been revealed to be canon in a book called guide to galaia, which would be written in the style of a journal archive compiled by padmÊ, anakin, yoda and other characters from the movie.

Hi! I really really love this blog, and I think you're doing an absolutely amazing job running it :) Here's a prompt: Knight Obi-Wan returns from a mission really injured or sick and Padawan Anakin has to help take care of him? Thank you!
Anakin satstraight-backed and rigid, letting his feet swing from the chair.
The room wasso silent that the whoosh of the pneumatic door startled him. “Anakin, dear,”an older healer said, beckoning. “You can see him now.”
Anakinfollowed her through a maze of clear, bright corridors. The healer’s wing wasmeant to look more like meditation halls than a civilian medcenter, but thesmell of bacta and disinfectant ruined the effect.
Obi-Wan lookedworse than when Anakin had last seen him.
“Master, whatthe kriff happened?”
“Language,”Obi-Wan breathed. “Anakin.”
Anakin shookhis head as he approached Obi-Wan’s bed. Obi-Wan had returned from his solomission late last night, looking haggard. He’d been sick to his stomach, whichseemed to explain it. Anakin had kept his distance, the last thing they neededwas for both of them to have a stomach bug—there was only one ‘fresher in theapartment after all.
But then thismorning, on their way to the Council chambers, Obi-Wan had fallen down half aflight of stairs. Anakin had hurried down after him, but by the time thepadawan reached the landing Obi-Wan was throwing up blood and gasping for air.Anakin sat with him until help arrived, watching his lips turn blue as hecontinued to pant. The rest had been a blur of healers and a lot of waitingaround for Anakin.
“I guess youdidn’t really have a stomach bug,” said Anakin dryly.
“There wassome damage,” Obi-Wan drew in a long breath. “To my ribcage, from the mission. Thefall just,” he explained. “Worsened it. That’s all.”
“What he meansis, he was walking around with a partially collapsed lung until he managed topass out, fall, then puncture it.”
“Winna, not infront of—”
“How old areyou, Anakin?”
“Twelve,” saidAnakin sheepishly.
“Old enough tolearn from your master’s mistakes, then,” the healer countered. “Obi-Wan, youreally didn’t think to tell anyone you were bringing up blood the whole night? You should have come to the Halls straight away.”
“Can’t we havethis conversation,” Obi-Wan panted, “Later?”
“You bestbelieve we will,” Winna retorted with no real heat behind her words. Anakin wasstaring, taking in the big, square bandage over the left side of Obi-Wan’schest, and the paleness that lingered in his lips and fingertips.
The healernotices Anakin staring, and rests a hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry. He’slost a lot of blood, and his lungs will take time to heal. I’m afraid there’snot much bacta can do for it. But as long as he behaves, I think he’ll be wellenough to go home tomorrow.”
Obi-Wan pulleda face at being told to ‘behave’, suddenly reminding the healer of how young hewas – awfully young to be completely without an adult in his life—most newknights were still guided a bit by their old masters during their first fewyears of working alone. And he was awfully young to be acting as the adult inAnakin’s life on top of it.
“Not too muchchatting, you two,” she warned as she left. “Don’t strain your lungs, Obi-Wan.”
Obi-Wan meeklyagreed. “How were your classes, Anakin?” he asked in a small voice.
Anakinhesitated for a moment. He hadn’t actually left the Halls of Healing to go toclass.
Obi-Wan’sexpression turned into a small frown. “You waited here all day?”
“They said youhad to have surgery,” Anakin squeaked.
Obi-Wannodded. “It was a minor procedure. Winna was right,” he paused to inhale. “I probablyshould have come in last night.”
“Why didn’tyou say anything?”
“I thought itmight,” Obi-Wan pressed a hand over his side as if suddenly pained. “Go away onits own.”
“Will you atleast tell me what happened? Did you get in a fight?” Anakin’s expressionsuddenly brightened, and Obi-Wan’s face split into a grin.
“It’s a goodstory, I have to say,” he smiled. “I’ll have to tell you later.”
They talkedquietly a while longer, but Obi-Wan’s eyes began drooping. Anakin didn’t try tostop him from falling asleep.
When theartificial sun of Coruscant began to set, Healer Bant came to fetch Anakin fromObi-Wan’s room. She took him to the refectory for supper and walked him back tohis and Obi-Wan’s quarters.
In themorning, Master Che gave Obi-Wan the all-clear, much to his and Anakin’srelief. Bant brought him home and helped him get situated.
“Bedrest,” shereminded him, setting up his medications on the bedside table. “Winna doesn’twant you on your feet for more than an hour at a time. Lying down or sitting isfine, whatever you can tolerate. You do notwant to reinjure this,” she warned. “Oh, and the pain meds aren’t optional.”
Bant leftwhile Anakin was making tea. He reached for the sapir on the top shelf, whichObi-Wan seemed to reserve for special occasions and sometimes for when he wassick or upset. Today seemed like a good occasion.
Obi-Wangratefully accepted the teacup with both hands, lifting it to his nose toinhale the steam. He recognized the special tea by its aroma, but didn’t sayanything other than, “Thank you, Padawan.”
The idea ofbedrest lasted less than three hours, then Obi-Wan was already up. Anakin informedhim that he should at least be on the couch in the sternest voice he couldmuster, which had only made Obi-Wan laugh and ruffle his hair.
Obi-Wan brokeoff suddenly to cough into his elbow. He wasn’t as short of breath asyesterday, but he had developed a painful cough. Anakin darted back to hisbedroom and brought the inhaler with his medicine.
There weretimes, mostly right after a dose of painkillers, where Obi-Wan was pretty outof it, but for the rest of the day it was just him and Anakin spending time, which almost felt like they were getting away with something. When Obi-Wanchanged the dressings on his side he let Anakin see his scar which he thoughtwas wizard. Anakin decided that if Obi-Wan wasn’t supposed to be on his feet,he shouldn’t be cooking either, and he made them both grilled cheese for lunch.
Obi-Wan put ona wildlife holodoc and they let themselves just spend the afternoon recoveringand enjoying themselves.
“Anakin!” saidObi-Wan suddenly. “You should have had class today, shouldn’t you?”
Anakinshrugged innocently. “I’d rather be here to help, Master.”
“You rascal, I’mnot as incapacitated as that. You’re going to go comm your instructors andfigure out what you can do to make up the past two days.”
“Yeah, oh-kay,” Anakin groaned. “I’ll do it later.”He snuggled closer under the blanket.
Obi-Wanpretended to look stern for another two seconds, but he gave up and put an armgingerly around the padawan’s shoulders before returning his attention to theholo.

Luke/Mara fic recs
Non-ship Mara fic recs can be found here.
All-Time Faves:
Title of work: The Force Works in Extremely Irritating Ways
Author(s): resperella
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Luke and Mara screw things up and make a soulbond. In the process of trying to get rid of it, they accidentally fall in love.
Why I recommend this: Luke and Mara accidentally make a Force bond. Oops! A little adventure, a little smut, a lot of fun. I love this fic; it's favorite of mine. I've read the final scene... a lot of times.
Title of work: Responsibility and Commitment
Author(s): CassandraSpayke
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: It is no small thing, to be second-in-command of a galaxy wide smuggling operation or head of a Jedi Praxeum. Responsibility and commitment are matters not be taken and given lightly, especially when it comes to marriage.
Why I recommend this: It’s a thoughtful character study of Luke and Mara at a major turning point in their lives, a quiet respite in which the two take the time to reflect on their relationship and their new engagement. There’s also a cute and funny homecoming scene at the very end with Han, Leia and Karrde, which I wish went on a little longer. Adorable nerds, all of them.
Title of work: Odd Kind of Honeymoon
Author(s): deaka
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Newly married Luke and Mara Skywalker journey across Tatooine on their honeymoon, some unexpected discoveries arising along the way.
Why I recommend this: An lovely introspective fic in which Luke and Mara explore Tattooine and confront the ghosts of their past. This story is a thoughtful character study of Mara as she learns how to navigate her new relationship and marriage to Luke. One of my all time favorites.
Title of work: the Boundaries seres (Better Lost than Found, Sharp Edges, Negotiations, The Care and Keeping of an Apprentice, Trust Thing)
Author(s): frangipani
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: A year after the events of the Last Command, Mara is still in Coruscant attempting to fulfill her Smuggler's Alliance duties while continuing her Jedi training. Former Emperor's Hand, turned smuggler, government liaison, and Jedi apprentice...she's long known that the only way things work in the new life she's made for herself is through clearly delineated boundaries. It's really too bad Luke Skywalker unwittingly keeps taking them apart.
Why I recommend this: Hot, tension-filled sex scenes AND a slow burn character study of Mara? YES PLEASE.
Title of work: from a stay on the moon
Author(s): irnan
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Luke has begun to measure time not by clocks or calenders, but by the times he gets to see his wife.
Why I recommend this: A short but sweet fic in which a pair of workaholics steal a couple of minutes together. One I keep returning to.
 Adventures!
Title of work: In Velvet Gloves
Author(s): frangipani
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: There were rumors that the Queen Mother, Teneniel Djo, would attempt to provide the galaxy’s only Jedi Master with a Hapan wife. With close ties to the Jedi, the Queen could have the protection she needed against the assassination attempts that took her previous Jedi bodyguard. But those machinations were beyond her, and besides, they said he was celibate anyway.
Why I recommend this: THIS FIC. THIS is the fic that got me on the whole Dathomir kick. Velvet is actually set on Hapes (though based on the events of Courtship), and is filled with court intrigue, murder, sex, and fashion!
Title of work: The Dividing Factor
Author(s): Niralle
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: The human race is about to be annihilated. Luke and Mara have the only lead to stop the radical aliens from unleashing a plague that will murder trillions. Can their Jedi instincts prepare them, even after the truth behind their adversaries is revealed?
Why I recommend this: An exciting adventure fic in which recently married Jedi Luke and Mara save the universe (yet again). It’s genuinely suspenseful, the author depicts the use of the Force in the interesting ways, and the characters have sense of humor.
Title of work:  do not go gentle into that good night
Author(s): floraobsidian
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: There is no power, Light or Dark, that is capable of stopping her from returning to her family. It's only a matter of time.
Why I recommend this: I love how this story depicts Mara as a force of nature and gives me a version of Mara fitting into The Force Awakens universe that I can buy into.
Title of work: People and Lights
Author(s): Pyrrha Cottonwood
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Luke and Mara retreat to Dagobah to study the Force.
Why I recommend this: I do love stories about Mara facing her past and falling in love with Luke Skywalker!
 Sexy Fic
Title of work: slipping into the ground or into your arms
Author(s): BananasAreforParties
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: More than colleagues. Less than friends. Better than acquaintances. They remain in balance. The Command, the dark whisper, slumbers and Mara has no desire to poke a sleeping rancor. To dance with Skywalker. . .could it ever be worth the risk? Mara and Luke succumb to the gradual formation of their Force bond through an activity far more pleasing than fighting for their lives.
Why I recommend this: Romantic, funny, and very sexy! Such a delight.
 Title of work: Catalyst
Author(s): Claudia_flies
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Luke and Mara. The way it should have happened after The Last Command.
Why I recommend this: Mara and Luke start hooking up after The Last Command; feelings inevitably ensue. A sexy and satisfying shipfic.
Title of work: Not Like That
Author(s): JediMordsith
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Luke and Mara smut en route to Wayland to spite Palpatine's echo and Mad Jedi Master C'baoth.
Why I recommend this: Mara decides to have sex with Luke to get back at the voices in her head, and it’s super hot. (also dedicated to meeee ASHJKHLDJK)
Title of work: Under the Wave
Author(s): Jaded
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Mara Jade shows up to Yavin IV to deliver some news to Luke in person but instead of returning after a quick ride, they spend some time relieving the unresolved sexual tension of the past three years.
Why I recommend this: I was so mad when I first read this because it was so good.
 Title of work: Symmetric Relation
Author(s): frangipani
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: While investigating some dark side disturbance in Vongformed Coruscant, Luke finds himself vulnerable to dark side influence and takes some time to regroup.
Why I recommend this: A missing scene from the Vong war; Mara and Luke find comfort in each other while on a mission. ADORABLE MARRIEDS BANTER AHOY.
Title of work: A Fate Worse Than Vornskrs
Author(s): casesama
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Stranded in the forest of Myrkr in after Luke escapes Karrde's base, Luke and Mara have a run in with Myrkr's native wildlife. No, not the fauna. The flora.
Why I recommend this: A Luke/Mara sex pollen fic! You know what that means: warnings for consent issues.
 Title of work: Dirty Laundry

Title of work: The Dinner Party
Author(s): frangipani
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Why in space would Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, of all people, show up to Coruscant’s premier art collector’s dinner party? (Or, Mara insults Luke's taste in fashion, ruins his clothes, steals an art object from her hosts, and generally has a most excellent evening.)
Why I recommend this: It's fun!

Author(s): JediMordsith
Link to fic: here

 Title of work: Holonet Comments

 Title of work: Completely Irrational
Author(s): deaka

Brief summary: Ben overhears his parents arguing about his training.
Why I recommend this: Offers a glimpse into Mara and Luke's marriage and how they negotiate and forgive each other even when they can't agree on an issue.
Dark fic that doesn't fit in any of the other categories but I want to rec it anyway
Title of work: Washing Blood with Blood
Author(s): frangipani
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Sometimes you’re not supposed to live through things.
Why I recommend this: Gut-wrenching fic that's a twist on Sacrifice, in which Mara survives her encounter with Jacen but looses her mind. (This story might be harder to access if the reader isn't very familiar with the books it's based on.)
WARNING: Abandoned WIPS
Title of work: Saving Skywalker
Author(s): AgentJade
Link to fic: here
Brief summary: Luke goes missing, Mara finds him in rough shape and takes him somewhere safe, realizing that she is more concerned about him than she is comfortable with.
Why I recommend this: Fair warning: this fic is a unfinished WIP. But I’d recommend it anyway for the first chapter alone. Great scenes with Mara and Karrde, and Mara interacting with Karrde’s crew, which is something I don’t think we get enough of in the books or in fic. The second chapter’s a bit of hurt/comfort, a natural fit for this pairing.
Title of work: The Unseen War series (Sidereal, Tyranny Reborn, Shattered Dreams)
Author(s): Rigil_Kent
Link to fic: First two stories here; you can find the unfinished third story here
Brief summary: Shadowy forces pursue Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade across the galaxy, Han Solo is pressed back into service with the New Republic military, and Leia Organa-Solo has only herself to rely on as she combats a corrupt new government.
Why I recommend this: I have some hesitation recommending this one for various reasons. It's a unfinished series, for a start. It's also an ensemble adventure series, with a big cast and convoluted plot, and if you're just here to read Luke and Mara, this may not be a fic that holds your interest. The author also makes some choices that bother me, such as Leia being very hostile to Mara, for instance. On the other hand, there are some fantastic sequences that I think about and reference all the time, so I think it's worth a look.

SCIENCEEEE (I don’t know what the fuck this gif is I just added)
Infatuation–Vace can very easily become infatuated with people who are confident and charming. Basically people who display some of the same characteristics as him. People who have their shit together. This also happens with people he has a good time with. So honestly like a lot of people who are his friends were either lovers or someone he had a lil crush on at some point. A friendly fling’s, just a fling right???
Disappoint–It’s not hard to Disappoint him wow uh. Well I can officially say Vace is disappointed by the Empire’s actions in response to the Rebellion. When he hears of the destruction of Alderaan he feels pretty disappointed that this is what they decided to go with in terms of quelling insurgency. Even though his sympathy for the rebels isn’t all there, he doesn’t think it’s necessary to nuke planets especially with innocent people on them. Kinda hypocritical but also HE DOESN’T DO THINGS LIKE THAT. During his time in school he actually went along with the idea that some hostile alien species should be destroyed but even though he’s a piece a shit he’s come a long way away from that.
Grateful–This one’s for you buddy, Vace is grateful to the Phiskars or Valeria’s mother Amhi in particular because she was kind to him and treated him like he was family during his years as a brat on Coruscant. Second mom. Mommy Amhi. He likes her more than his own mom omg. Even when things went downhill and his parents kicked him out guess who took him in and tried to set him straight??? He will never not do a thing for her it doesn’t matter that her husband was a traitor or anything he owes her his life. So even if Valeria hated Vace and wanted nothing to do with him he’d still be there for her because she’s Amhi Phiskar’s daughter. It’s not negotiable. When he was a lot younger he used to have little crush on Amhi (see what I mean) but it was just puppy love–SHE’S REALLY PRETTY CAN YOU BLAME HIM? His actual mother snatched his ear for admitting it too. Anyway he’s grateful for her support and wishes that he could do more to live up to her expectations. He wants to pay her back somehow.
Awestruck–Going to a foreign planet that is very different from Coruscant. Simple things in nature can put him in awe like places with a lot of greenery, snow/sand. He just will sit out and watch things. Picnics y/y. Even wildlife excites him. He would steal a tauntaun. He would.

30 Day SWTOR OC Challenge
So, I have been extremely lazy and have not done this for the past couple of days, so time to catch up! I’m gonna skip a couple of the days, because I haven’t figured that information out yet.
Day 22: Home
What does ‘home’ mean to your OC? Where have they lived in their life, and who with? Do they want to go back?
When Mai was young, she considered Tython her home. She loved everything about it; the trees, the sounds, the wildlife.
Now, as a Jedi Master, she thinks of her ship as her home.
Day 23: Childhood
What was their childhood like? Who was their childhood best friend? What’s their best memory? Worst memory? What is their relationship with their parents?
Mai’s childhood was pretty much like most Jedis’, although she did know her parents. Her mother was a Jedi herself and Satele Shan’s sister. Mai’s mother was often the one training Mai, but after she was killed in battle, that role was given to one of the many Temple teachers.
She didn’t have a best friend, though she did often socialise with her fellow younglings.
She doesn’t really have a best memory from her childhood, but she does enjoy remembering training on Tython and taking long hikes with the rest of the younglings.
Her worst memory was the Sacking of Coruscant. A Sith barged into a training session and although Mai held him off for a while, he seriously injured her, both physically and mentally. Another bad memory was getting the news that her mother had been killed. She was so young then and had grown very attached to her mother, that she actually got angry with the Jedi who gave her the news and Force-pushed him away from her.

ZILLO BEAST ARC
i always remember this happening so much later in the series but its like... 21bby. anyways
Okay so Freja's definitely there for this one. The only other concurrent conflict that I'm aware of is the Onderonian civil war, which began the previous year, and she wasn't even asked to consult there when that fight started so she's got nowhere else to be.
Her presence doesn't change the outcome, though. She largely agrees with Windu in that they should spare the Zillo's life, but points out that they can't just dump it in some foreign outer rim ecosystem and hope for the best. Introducing and naturalizing wildlife is a complex nightmare, and in Freja's professional opinion, if they can't convince the Dug to spare the Zillo then they will likely have to kill it should they want the treaty signed.
She posits that perhaps if they posed it as a moral dilemma about interfering with the Dug's cultural traditions as opposed to following tHe JeDi wAy, they might have had ground to stand on if Generals Windu and Skywalker chose to withhold assistance in slaying the beast... but alas, that ship has sailed.
Windu is not impressed.
(She also suspects this isn't the very last of its species, in spite of previous reports of extinction; what a coincidence that The World's Last Zillo Beast was hanging out directly beneath their feet, completely undetected by the Dug, the GAR, and the Separatists! Yeah, nah. Freja's not about to say anything, though, because her suspicion is founded only on her having A Feeling about it and quite frankly it would just serve to cause problems.)
Anyways her complaints are overruled especially about shipping the Zillo beast to Coruscant, and since she's only an advisor, Freja wasn't involved in the study/experimentation. She's actually on the fucking subway when the Zillo beast escapes and is stuck there for the duration of the event because the railway shuts down and has an absolutely abysmal time. Thank god for that though, because if Freja had been in earshot of Anakin saying it was 'our mistake' she would have blown a gasket. The only person responsible was the Grand Shitter Chancellor Palpatine.
