before we begin, some warnings. captivity, physical torture, hostages, experimentation, mental torture, depression and anxiety and all the other fun shit that comes with those things

Lydia and Beetlejuice are two separate beings who don’t know each other. bj is a demonic, ghost, dead, ageless, whatever with all the usual powers we’re used to him having. While Lydia is similar, she’s a sort of demonic entity but she isn’t dead like he is. How she came to be and where she came from is unknown, the people at the lab aren’t even sure who captured her, how she got there, or how she’s even still contained. (It’s sort of the same with bj but they know that whoever captured him has something over his head to make sure he’s kept in line). her powers aren’t the same as Beetlejuice’s though, while he’s more physical she’s more psychological. She’s a sort of empath, telepath, has telekinesis kind of being while bj is - change reality, make clones, bring things into creation but in a very demonic way, extra limbs, (alchemist kinda shit maybe). 

Anyways, they’re being kept at an extremely hidden lab, think scp foundation kind of vibes. There’s others kept there ofc, but they’re the most invaluable, the only known ones of their kind. Adam and Barbara are their keepers/handlers/doctors. But the two aren't aware of what is actually being done to their ‘patients’. They’re under the impression that this is a sort of top secret hospital for special beings. They’re never taken down to the lower levels so they don’t even have the chance to see what this place actually is, while BJ and Lydia aren't exactly talkative. No one’s even sure if they can speak. Never mind in a human tongue. Barbara and Adam just kind of assume they don’t speak English and are extremely wary of humans. So they sort of speak to and treat them the same way a good vet would treat a terrified kitten.  

now onto Charles and Delia. Delia is the “therapist” of the place. But you know how she is, she’s not exactly a “stand up for herself and others and refuse to do something she doesn’t want to do” kind of person, this trait of hers has gotten her mixed up in some very messy situations. So she just gets her orders and does them. Very scared of the people she sort of psychologically torturing and trying to get info out of but even more scared of the consequences for what would happen if she didn’t execute her orders. Charles is one of the scientists. I’m going to be taking one out of @wizisbored​‘s book for this one. He’s not really someone who has his moral priorities in order. No one but the people at the top know this, but he’s actually the one who brought Lydia in. There’s rumors that his relationship with Lydia goes deeper than just scientist and experiment, along with some other seemingly absurd rumors, like him being her father.

In reality, his wife found this extremely lost and confused, seemingly fifteen year old girl covered in dirt, blood, cuts, bruises, and soaking wet in an ally one rainy day, and decided that they’re taking her in. Charles was always just there in the background while Emily did her thing. Never knowing what to think of Lydia or how to act around her. It didn’t take long for them to figure out Lydia isn’t aging at all or to see the small horns protruding from her skull once her hair was washed and all the matts were cut. But Emily and her had already bonded by that time. It was obvious that Emily thought of her as a daughter and you wouldn’t even be able to pry Lydia from her cold dead hands.  

when Emily got really sick fifteen years later. Both Lydia and Charles were absolutely distraught. With all her powers, there was nothing Lydia could do. The top of the foundation Charles was working at (read: Juno) approached him one day and convinced him that this was all Lydia’s fault. That her living with them had somehow infected Emily and was making her sick. She convinced Charles to bring Lydia there, where she would be far away from Emily and would still be “taken care of”. Charles did exactly that and it wasn’t long before he was shown the true nature of the foundation. He didn’t back down though, he didn’t try to get Lydia out. He thought himself in too deep and only buried himself even deeper.  

Lydia and BJ only became aware of one another around the four month mark of Lydia being there had passed. It wasn’t even an actual encounter, they only got glimpses of the other when each one was being “escorted” somewhere. But even during those few seconds, they locked eyes and a sort of connection was formed. Not a “god we’re both in the same shitty situation aren’t we?” kind of connection, an actual honest half telepathic kind of connection. It took them a while to figure out how to work it, but they found themselves able to send picture flashes and even bursts of feelings sometimes. They don’t know what caused it, but their hypothesis is that it was Lydia. She was nearing a complete breaking point at the time, almost going insane and subconsciously reaching out with her mind for anything that might help her stay sane. But Lydia doesn’t have any memories from the time before she showed up at the human realm, she just remembers muffled shouts, pain, and then falling through a portal, only to be found by Emily a months or so later. and Beetlejuice was an outcast demon, never being told or explained anything, he’s never even heard of any beings other than demons and ghosts. Somehow finding himself in this place years before lydia showed up.

now, I’m a good person (ha!) so I’ll give you a kind of happy ending. Emily somehow managed to recover. No one had any idea what she even had, not even the best specialists, but at some point around the yearly mark of Lydia getting put at the foundation (a year and a half or so of being sick), she mysteriously started getting better. 

ah but I just have to give this a social media twist. It’s no fun without some outside pov and conspiracy theories. Like I said earlier, think of this like the scp foundation. What’s another very big part of the scp foundation? it’s all online.  People are aware of the foundation Lydia and Beej are at (haven’t named it yet) but everyone thinks it’s “a fictional secret organization documented by the collaborative-writing” (Wikipedia). 

“Within the website's shared universe, the Foundation is responsible for capturing, containing, and studying various paranormal, supernatural, and other mysterious phenomena unexplained by science (known as "anomalies" or "SCPs"), while also keeping their existence hidden from the rest of human society.” (Wikipedia)

So there’s forums all over the internet dedicated to this foundation. people role playing, rules, and deities and everything. Beetlejuice is known as deity B and Lydia is known as deity L. No one knows the origin of the deities or really anything about them except for a few details here and there that have been leaked (who says no one from the actual foundation is “role playing”) but they’re known as the most powerful and the most mysterious. Ofc there’s conspiracy theories that this whole things is actually real and there’s people claiming they worked there in the past, but they all mysteriously disappear from the internet a little bit after or are already claiming to be people who’re presumed dead

will this be how Emily manages to learn her daughter is being kept there and where it is? Idk. Read and find out ;)

Latex gloves snapped as they stretched over the man’s hands.

You were nervous.

“Sign here. It’s a consent form for the vaccines you’re receiving today.” His voice was level, almost monotone as he placed a clipboard and pen onto the counter next to your chair.

Three vaccines, routine injections.

You’d been putting them off, wary of needles, wary of people having to touch your body. You knew it would be an all-around unpleasant experience, but you had to get it done sometime, no matter how much you tried to avoid it. 

Originally it had just been two shots, but the Doctor, Chisaki Kai, had called back informing you that a third injection would be necessary.

A quick scribble with the pen before the masked man was whisking the clipboard away, confirming you’d signed the papers with a quick glance. He had pretty eyes, you noted - golden iris’s visible above the surgical face mask covering his mouth and nose.

Those pretty eyes snapped to yours, the man looking significantly bored. “All’s in order.” You watched him begin assembling the injections on the counter, needles by bottles, alcohol wipes and bandaids nearby.

“The first will go in your left arm, the second in your right, and the third in your left again. It will hurt.” His bedside manner left something to be desired.

He worked quickly and efficiently, plunging the first needle into a bottle, drawing back the plunger to fill it full of liquid before removing it from the bottle. “Please roll up your sleeves.”

Then he was stepping close, needle in one gloved hand, sterile alcohol swab in the other. You were watching him like a hawk, trying your best not to flinch when the cold wipe came into contact with your exposed upper arm.

A quick glance at your flinch, the slight bit of air hissing through your teeth at nothing but the coldness of the wipe had the man cocking his head, but he said nothing.

“Uhm, can you please-uhm, tell me when you’re about to do it?” You gulp, wide eyes trained on the far wall. Just don’t look at the needle, you’ll be fine.

“You prefer to know when to expect the pain?” It was less a question, more a statement, but you nodded nonetheless. “I’ll count to three.”

“One.” A gloved hand lightly touched your arm.

“Two.” Pointer finger and thumb smoothed over your skin, keeping it taut.

“Three.” There was a pinch, immediately followed by deep burning, stinging pain that had you gritting your teeth and wincing.

The scent of bitter, sterile alcohol filled your nose, harshly jerking you to consciousness. Everything smelled like chemicals, latex and bleach and ammonia - not the most pleasant thing to wake up to.

Opening your eyes was easy, lifting your head not so much. You were slumped in your seat, head resting against the counter at your side, feet planted on the ground.

The doctor was crouched in front of you, a small wipe pinched between his fingers, held up to your nose. Golden eyes studied you closely, and upon seeing your eyes open, lashes fluttering, the doctor withdrew the wipe, subsequently taking away the chemical smell.

“You fainted.”

A blink as you gained your bearings, feeling disoriented and weak. You were still in the exam room, a tiny cramped space with barely enough room for a chair beside the exam table.

You swallowed, throat feeling dry, head fuzzy. God, did you hate needles.

“Have you had this reaction to injections before? It’s not uncommon in patients.”

“I.....no? I don’t-uhm-don’t think so...” It felt funny talking, as if you weren’t inside your body.

The doctor stood abruptly, quickly discarding the ammonia wipe into the trash, stripping his gloves off as well before donning a new pair.

“Stay there while you recover. Are you up for the other two shots today, or would you like to schedule an appointment for them at a different time?”

Why the hell didn’t he just give you the shots while you were unconscious?

“I wanna do it today please.” You sighed, reaching to feel the bandaid on your left arm. “I would hate to have to come back and do this again, know what I mean?”

Nothing else was said, just a brief nod from the man before he disappeared from the room. You shuffled your feet, closing your eyes as you leaned back in the chair. 

“(Y/N)? Do you feel ready to stand?” He was back, standing in the doorway and looking at you.

“Oh, yeah, sure.” You rocked up to your feet, rolling down your sleeve as the doctor stepped froward towards the counter. He gathered up the remaining syringes, bottles, and other supplies before stepping around you and back towards the door.

Again, you did your best to not shy away when he passed you, not wanting to make contact. Your skin was so sensitive, you hated touching people, or feeling their clothes brush against your skin. The man didn’t seem to notice, but that was alright. You were used to dodging threatening sensations in your life.

He guided you through the clinic, towards the back where a small office was situated, a comfortable-looking couch against one of the walls. His name wasn’t on the door - you remember now, Doctor Chisaki. 

Or was he a nurse? You didn’t know.

But his name wasn’t on the door. Was it okay to be in this office? Don’t they usually make you wait in the exam room?

“Have a seat, make yourself comfortable. I’ll be back shortly.” 

The door clicked shut behind him.

Today was your day off, the entire day devoted to getting your shots done, to overcoming this obstacle, handling the immense stress that came with it. It didn’t bother you to spend it sitting down and playing word searches on your phone. 

But still....

“Don’t patients usually wait in the exam room? Or in the waiting room?” You asked the man as soon as he re-entered the room, stack of paperwork in one hand as he shut the door with the other.

He gave you a once-over, body tucked into the corner of the couch, before he spoke. “Usually, but I want to make sure you don’t pass out where I can’t see you. That’d make me a bad doctor. This isn’t common procedure, sure, but I didn’t expect your body to be so-” weak “-easily indisposed.”

The tone of his voice kept completely level, hardly any emotions showing on his face, but still you felt... chilled by this man. There was no reassurance from him, no compassion or empathy.

“I’ll administer your remaining shots in 45 minute increments, that should give you enough time to recover between each one. You’ll have to lay down for them though, that’s why you’re sitting on that couch.” 

Polite, but it still felt like you were getting talked-down-to. He was patronizing you.

You gave him a curt nod to show you understood, before fumbling your phone out of your pocket to begin passing the time.

Doctor Chisaki sat down behind the empty desk, neatly placing his stack of papers on the wood before taking a sheet off the top and clicking his pen. From where he was sitting, you were in his direct line of sight, and you could feel him glancing at you occasionally as the scribble of his pen and the tapping of your fingers filled the silence.

45 minutes passed quickly, too quickly for your liking. You weren’t looking forward to the next shot.

Same instructions as before - roll up your sleeve, he’d count to three.

But the doctor paused after swabbing your arm clean. “You keep flinching. Am I  hurting you?”

“No, I mean, not really.” You shrugged. “I don’t like it when people touch me I guess, feels funny.”

“Well, try to relax.”

Easy for him to say, hard for you to do.

This time, with you laying down, the shot went much smoother. The doctor counted the three, you hissed in pain at the burning slice of the needle, but retained consciousness. Which frankly, was a success.

“That really hurts.” You breathed as soon as the needle slipped free from your arm. Even thinking about the thin point being in your muscles made you feel queasy. At least you didn’t have to look at it.

“That’s a common side effect. Muscle soreness because the needle is essentially causing a small injury to the fibers, and there are other reasons, but they're more complicated. You want ice?”

“Nah, it’ll be fine. I’ll just deal with it.”

The man blinked. “You have an interesting reaction to pain.”

“Uhhh...” You scrunched up your eyebrows as you glanced up at him, sitting up as you did so. “Thanks?”

“You’re extremely sensitive to tactile stimulation, like to know when you’ll be experiencing pain, but you don’t particularly care about relieving it. Have you ever given blood?”

The question caught you off guard, especially after realizing the man had been analyzing you more closely than you had expected.

“Nah. Does that matter?”

“Not particularly, I’m just curious I guess.” Doctor Chisaki admitted, once again stripping off his gloves and disposing of them before sliding on another pair.

He went back to his paperwork, and you to your phone, but his frequent glances weighed you down. Did you have something on your face? Was your hair messy?

“Could you point me to the bathroom please?” You rose to your feet slowly, making sure you weren’t going to faint as you stood up.

“It’d be better if you stayed seated.” Was his curt reply.

With a frown, you sat back down. Why couldn’t you use the bathroom? Maybe it affected..... something? With the vaccines? You didn’t know enough about how these things worked to really question it. Doctors were professionals, and they had their reasons.

Still, you’d feel a bit more comfortable if the man wasn’t watching you so closely.

45 more minutes of squirming until your next shot.

Lay down.

Roll up your sleeve.

Try to relax.

Deep breathe.

“You smell.”

“What?” Your head snapped to the side, confused. You smelled?

“It’s not bad. What scent is it?”

Blinking back surprise, you relayed the scent on your shampoo and conditioner.  This doctor was a bit... unconventional. But his sudden question did take your mind off of the countdown, off of the pain. Smart.

“My nose is sensitive, most scents are overwhelming and while I like cleanliness I cannot stand the smell of bleach or most cleaning products. I chose the wrong profession for that, didn’t I?”

His version of a joke made you almost chuckle, a lazy grin stretching across your face instead. “You certainly did. You ever try Pine Sol though? That’s what I use for like, everything.”

The doctor shook his head, and you chattered on about the unoffensive-smelling cleaner, where you bought the bottle you have under your sink, how you use it. He listened intently as he plastered another bandaid over your arm.

“Alright, I can go now?” You asked, sitting up for the last time.

“No.”

“No?”

“Vasovagal syncope can still occur, I’d prefer you not faint and bash your head open on the ground. There’d be such a mess.”

Mouth snapping shut at the fancy medical term, you couldn’t help but sigh as you slumped back against the couch. 

“Bored?”

“I’ve been here for almost four hours. You don’t have other patients to get to?” You didn’t think to check the accusatory tone in your voice.

The doctor put aside his pen, folding his hands on the desk as he stared at you with golden eyes. “They’ve been transferred to different doctors. My current patient has taken precedence. I don’t half-ass things like some people, I see my  projects to completion.”

You were a bit taken aback at the vehemence in his voice, the way his eyes dropped to slits, narrowing fiercely at you.

“That’s what it means to be in this profession. I’m here to cure people. I make sure that sickness doesn’t spread between humans like fire in a barn full of hay. What I do is important and deserving of respect, I’m ensuring the survival of humanity, am I not?”

The intense tension in the air built, the doctor staring you down. “I’m close to becoming a renowned doctor. Just one, one breakthrough will finally get the world to see me. ”

He cocked his head, eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled beneath the mask. “I thank your efforts in being a volunteer towards my latest project. It’s been a bit difficult to find someone who readily accepted an unknown injection.”

Unknown.. injection?

“What are you talking about?” 

“The second injection isn’t a vaccine, more like a... pet project of mine. I can’t wait to see what it does.”

“You can’t-this is malpractice, I didn’t consent to this-” Your fists clenched as you stood.

“You signed the consent papers. They’ll hold up in court. Most people receive the vaccines you got today when they’re still teenagers, and under their parents care. Lucky for me, you’re afraid of needles it seems, so you’ve been a bit neglectful. Hard to get a parent to sign over their child as a test subject, easy to get a fearful individual to listen to their doctor.”

A twinkle in his eye made you want to punch his lights out. “What the hell dude, you call yourself a doctor? What did you inject me with?”

The man rose from behind the desk, moving until he stood in front of you. “You’ll see soon enough. I’m pleased that you’re so concerned with hygiene, that makes this easier for both of us.”

“What??”

“And you can forget about calling for help, not that you’ll want to. But everyone’s left for the day-” He checked his wrist, where a nice watch gleamed at you mockingly. “45 minutes ago. So feel free to disclose your symptoms as they pop up as loud as you’d like.”

The man sat down on the couch, easily sinking into the plush material looking up at you with a malicious gleam in his eyes. He had been playing you since you’d walked into the clinic. Was this some sort of prank?

“You’re messing with me.”

“I’ve told you, I see my projects to completion. This is the testing stage, and it might be a while before it’s over. Why would I waste time messing with someone else’s dumb little life?’

Your mouth felt dry, face warm. Why did your legs feel all pleasantly tingly? There was a slowly-building heat simmering low in your core, and if you weren’t standing directly in front of Chisaki, you’d rub your legs together. What did he do to you?

“Now, sit down, and tell your doctor what's bothering you.”

DRUCK reactions - s4 ep4

No, I haven’t forgotten about these! I’m a bit behind, but I’m still on track to finish before s5 starts. Although I hope to be done even earlier, because I don’t know if Amira N’s season is going to leave me with a lot of free time.

CLIP 1: Smooth operator

Amira is finishing up her prayer, when we get a quick cut to a picture of Amira and Sam pinned to Amira’s mirror. So, even though Amira and Mohammed had like three separate moments in the last clip of last episode, Druck wants us to think Sam is still in the picture (literally).

Amira gets a text from an unknown number saying, “Wow, Amira, thanks!” She asks who that is, but then checks her other messaging apps for good measure.

So last Friday, Mohammed sent himself a text from Amira’s phone, making Amira out to have for Mohammed the feelings Mohammed has for Amira. Specifically, “I really like you, but you make me really shy somehow.” I like you, but you intimidate me a bit, as Mohammed has been communicating to Amira pretty much since the start. Calling her the woman with the ice cold gaze and such.

I mean, since this is a fiction series and not real life, we know Mohammed is genuine about his feelings. He isn’t playing Amira, he’s her endgame. But this is such a fuckboy move, lol. I dare you to look me in the eye and tell me none of the Penetrator Chrises (or the Williams) would pull something like this.

Amira can’t believe this man, but she’s also charmed! Relatable.

It’s really cute that Amira is so incredulous that Mohammed asks her if texting himself from her phone is bad, that she actually says “Yes!” out loud before she texts it to him.

Mohammed can’t see how charmed Amira actually is, so he acts a bit more vulnerable and confesses he feels the same way. Or rather, that this is how he feels, since Amira wouldn’t necessarily describe herself like that. (I think Amira, rather than shy, is scared.) Of course, this too could be a tactic.

I think it’s interesting that Mohammed comes across as the biggest player of the Yousefs, certainly more than Sofiane in this early stage, but it’s Sofiane who ended up playing Imane.

Anyway, Mohammed sends Amira a song that he hopes she likes. And I think it’s cute that the song is in German. We don’t know how long Mohammed has been living in Germany, but I figure German the language didn’t hugely feature in his life back in Syria. So this is a song he heard in this new country for this girl he met in this new country.

Then Mohammed teases Amira about only listening to Arabic music, and she’s like, “yeah that’s the only music I listen to!” So Mohammed immediately sends her a voice message. Of him singing. In Arabic.

This is adorable, and Amira is obviously charmed as fuck, as am I. And if Mohammed had previously sent Amira a song to symbolize his new life in Germany, this is Mohammed sharing a part of himself from before Germany. It’s very significant and, for me, the most vulnerable he’s been in this clip.

Mohammed is also a bit embarrassed by his singing voice, but Amira clearly doesn’t care. Nobody cares, Mohammed. Keep singing!

CLIP 2: Essam does dumb things to fit in

Amira wakes up to the dulcet sounds of Essam screaming, and doesn’t get what time it is at first.

She and Mohammed were texting until 11 PM, and Amira fell asleep right as she was going to send Mohammed a song. Her last text was at 23:07 and Mohammed waited until 23:53 before wishing her a good night.

A reminder to renew her vaccines for the Australia trip comes in, and Amira first curls up with her phone. Just lost in the romance of it all, until Essam’s shriek cuts through the song lmao.

Amira checks the phone again and wakes up quick when she realizes the appointment is in 45 minutes. She swears a bit, and I’m very intrigued by this because Amira Naybet avoids swear words entirely, going for PG versions of Spanish swear words.

She’s in a rush now, but Essam has locked himself in the bathroom and refuses to come out. They have a bit of a back and forth (Amira’s threats don’t intimidate Essam at all, it seems) before Essam, having wrapped his hair in a towel, finally opens the door.

He asks Amira not to laugh at him and then reveals that he’s bleached his hair… badly. It’s not even yellow, it’s pretty much orange. Amira says he looks like Donald Trump. Trump wishes he had that much hair tbh.

Essam is actually really upset, and even hides his face in the crook of his elbow.   But fortunately he starts laughing a little once Amira cracks up at him. I don’t think I could take sad Essam, it’s completely antithetical to who he is!

Amira asks Essam why he did that to his hair, and said she would’ve helped him if he asked. Essam is all, “no, you wouldn’t. You hate me. You don’t love me at all.” And he just sounds so sincere that I believe he believes that. Like he’s so used to Amira bickering with him (and probably complaining about him to their parents lbr) that he thinks his big sister hates him. It’s just another way in which Essam’s self-esteem is absolutely fragile despite his brash nature.

Essam eventually confesses that he did it because girls (the girls he’s attracted to, that is) only like blond men. The music indicates this is a vulnerable moment for Essam. He feels like he will never be attractive to girls because he’s not white. To Essam, Amira must seem like someone who doesn’t care to fit in with white Germans, because she’s not voicing any complaints that white German boys aren’t knocking at her door. But Essam does want that. Both the white German girls and to fit in.

Anyway, Amira gets this is Essam opening up to her, so she tells him she’ll help fix up his hair. She’s in the middle of sharing her game plan when Mohammed sends a pic, which briefly distracts her.

Essam also sounds sincere when he thanks Amira, and Amira in turn assures Essam she’ll always help him… Though she’s still going to take a picture of him looking like Donald Trump.

We break out of Amira’s POV for a moment, to follow Essam a little longer as he looks at himself in the mirror and tries a Donald Trump sneer. He’s too cute to really pull it off, I’m afraid.

CLIP 3: Everyone (except Amira) is having sex!

I’ll just get it out of the way and say I don’t hate the David/Matteo make outs, nor do I think they were unnecessary.

Like the split screen editing is a bit 🤪 🤪 🤪 creativity! 🤪 🤪 🤪, but the point of this clip is that Amira is surrounded by sexually active people. And David and Matteo have always kept their PDA at cuddling and pecks on the lips in front of people, so it makes sense to me that we’d need to be back on their POV to 1. Show they are into each other, without 2. Actually talking about it with Amira, which would come across as awkward and weird because they’re not that kind of besties.

Like yes, it’s fanservice, but it makes way more sense from a storyline and character standpoint to do it like this than how other Skams handled it.

Though I find it amusing that Druck stans are so vocally opposed to the scene lmao.

Moving on, Kiki and Carlos’ screams of pleasure not only wake up the whole neighborhood from their afternoon naps, but also put off David and Matteo from pursuing their own activities in the hallway.

Amira comes up to them while they’re listening to music and is like, “hey why aren’t you going in?” They’re like, “we don’t want to mention the S word in front of you.” But Amira gets the picture quick once she comes closer to the door.

Druck teases its fans mercilessly as Matteo prods David into admitting his application film is an alien movie with flying body parts. David tries to argue that it’s deeper than that, but lbr this sounds like some campy Z movie nonsense with terrible special effects AND I’M HERE FOR IT. How dare Druck deprive me of this?

Amira’s like, “Yeah that sounds terrible.” Then she starts bickering with Mohammed over text, which makes David and Matteo very 👀 👀 (not that they’re relevant in this season lol).

Then, Sam comes in, and asks why they’re all outside. Unlike Amira, she figures it out for herself and outright asks whether they’re fucking. But she says it in a very pleased way, like she might come in and offer them drinks or condoms, ah god love you!

Amira can’t even take this bit of discussion of sex and wants to come in and end it all. I guess it’s because she’s wondering if people are just going to keep arriving and talking about Kiki and Carlos fucking, although it might also be because she doesn’t know how to be around Sam right now. (Because Sam isn’t just comfortable with people having sex, but she’s sexually active herself.)

Sam grabs Amira’s arm and says not to interrupt Kiki and Carlos, because maybe they’re doing the Happy Baby pose… And like… That’s a yoga pose. I’ll just let y’all google that.

Amira is like, ENOUGH OF THIS! And Sam’s like Okay, miss Priss! Amira wants a second opinion from David and Matteo about this prissiness, and they both plead the fifth.

Right after Sam’s called Amira prissy and put her on the defensive, Sam then says that, in the middle of making out with Abdi, she noticed Amira and Mohammed having a Moment. She’s like, I didn’t know you liked him, I’ll back off.  Amira denies being into Mohammed, but Sam doesn’t buy it.

And like… That’s it for this storyline. It’ll never come up again.

I know that doing away with the Skam love triangle pleased the fandom, but I mean, did Druck really get rid of it? They incorporated it, it features heavily in the first couple episodes and is one of the reasons Amira initially is unsure about the viability of her relationship with Mohammed… But it’s never explored in a meaningful way. It doesn’t develop Sam beyond being interested in boysssssss, it doesn’t develop Sam and Amira’s friendship or explore its nuances as well as the nuances of the hypersexualization of black women as opposed to the assumption that hijabis are repressed. Amira doesn’t even get to tell Sam she likes Mohammed onscreen, she tells Mia instead.

Again, this is a storyline that comes across as not something the writers particularly wanted to do, but they needed some filler for the first couple episodes. And the fact that the show then proceeds to decenter Sam after this, while Kiki’s role only increases, is just incredibly disappointing.

And speaking of Kiki’s presence becoming larger… With this subplot out of the way, Kiki now opens the door, looking very much like Noora when she got out of William’s car in s4. (Crazy idea, but what if it was supposed to be a reference to that? Lmao.)

She’s like, “I and Carlos just got done talking to the landlord, which was a conversation that involved no pants in my part!” Matteo calls shenanigans, Amira’s like, “right,” while Sam and David… Kinda look like they think Kiki’s never looked hotter tbh.

Like I said, I don’t have an issue with this clip, but showing Amira being surrounded by sex, yet not giving Amira the space to verbalize how she feels about this, while also getting rid of the Yousef kissing someone else angle, kinda makes this clip pointless tbh. Like the point of constantly surrounding Sana with sexually active couples was meant to make her feel like she couldn’t give Yousef what he supposedly wanted, i.e. a girlfriend who’d be physical with him.

Again, I’m not saying we have to make the Muslim main feel like shit for not being like a white German (we have enough of that with Essam), but at least give this joke a bit of depth by letting Amira talk about it. One issue with the season is that Amira gets thrown a mountain of microaggressions and ways in which she’s different, but viewers aren’t going to get the point that this adds to the pressures Amira faces unless you hit them over the head with it.

CLIP 4: Foreshadowing – the clip.

Amira is practicing boxing at home in order to have an excuse for her to be covering her hair. (Genuine curiosity, should Skams work this hard on coming up with reasons why their hijabi actresses are covering at home? Like I can see the benefit of not wanting to lead people to think hijabi cover 24/7.)

Mohammed texts her a picture of Angela Merkel doing Merkel hands on which he photoshopped a screenshot of Amira from Matteo’s season, along with the caption: Amira for Chancellor. Mohammed be like, I love this show DRUCK, love making shit posts for it.

Mohammed’s memes have put Amira in a great mood, and Mia chooses that moment to call Amira on Skype. Amira can barely get through the conversation, she’s giggling so much. Mia also comes off as really young in this chat, she acted like more of an adult in s3.

Mohammed keeps texting Amira flirty messages about Amira’s political career, and Mia notices that she’s distracted. She wants to know who’s making Amira smile so much, and Amira deflects and says it’s just her brother. Mia notes that Sam’s been raving about Amira’s brothers (so not just Mohammed), and she and Amira have a bit of a back and forth about Amira hiding Essam and Omar from them.

Then Mohammed sends Amira another meme in which he shops himself as Chancellor Amira’s spin doctor, which is both the cutest and saddest bit of foreshadowing. Amira, not being genre savvy, just finds it charming.

Mia wants to know what’s so funny, and Amira’s like, “can you keep a secret?” Mia, being a former Druck main and thus having seen some shit, is immediately alarmed about what this secret might be, and promises to not say a word.  

But there’s nothing to worry about. Nothing! Amira’s secret is that she kind of likes Mohammed. Not too much because he’s so tall and his hair is so nice and his eyes so dark. His eyebrows are terrible and so is his moustache that makes Amira zero in on his full, soft lips. Plus his body is so nice because he’s always working out! Mia’s like, so where’s the catch?

Amira’s crush is gigantic, and Mia’s so excited for her, but there’s still something holding Amira back. Maybe it’s that it all seems so easy with Mohammed, or that Amira’s not ready to revise her position that all men are shit, or you know, maybe it’s as simple as Amira enjoying being the lovesick one for once and indulging in the giddiness.

At any rate, Alex is visiting Mia next week (in Spain, where Mia totally is), so that’s coming up.  

CLIP 5: Famous last words

Amira and her mom sit down to watch a movie. Amira’s mom is happy to be spending time with her daughter, but Amira is on her phone because Mohammed has asked her, for the hundredth time now, whether she wants to go on a date with him. The man is running out of creative ways to ask Amira out, and she’s still all No ❤️

Amira’s mom wants to know who she’s texting, and Amira says it’s just Kiki. Because Kiki is Amira’s bestie now. Amira’s mom likes her though. She thinks she’s nice and also reminds the viewers of a potential Kiki storyline by commenting on her weight. In hindsight I don’t know why I ever thought s5 wouldn’t somehow deal with Kiki, because the writing is so clearly setting up a Zoë season about Kiki.

Amira’s mom says Amira never confides in her anymore, and eh. I mean, Amira did just lie about who she’s texting, but when Sana’s mom said this to Sana in Skam, it was more significant because Sana had been hiding her Russ plans from her for over three seasons. Amira has been pretty forthcoming with her mom in comparison. She knows about her friends (or about Kiki, at least) and about the trip to Australia. She doesn’t need to know about Amira’s delivery job because she doesn’t have it anymore.

Anyway, Amira bites her lip because she can’t hide this feeling anymore! She likes a boy! He’s nice and smart and cooks well, and Amira’s mom teases her that she’ll never go hungry then, as Amira just burnt the popcorn.

Amira’s mom wants to know whether the boy is handsome (of course!) and Muslim (of course! Famous last words). She wants to meet the boy, but Amira would like to get to know Mohammed better first, which is never going to happen if she keeps turning him down.

With that out of the way, they finally resume watching the movie, which seems to be a Bollywood one because the characters dance all the time. Is it a movie where the climax happens at a wedding, perhaps?? It looks like all the dancing helps Amira make her mind up, as she says, “You only live once.”

CLIP 6: Never leave the house

Amira meets Mohammed at a park, and they exchange a bunch of “Na?” because they’re dumb and into each other. Then Mohammed bravely asks Amira if she missed him, as if he didn’t know at this point that Amira is going to laugh at him. Which she does, because she says no.

They’re in the midst of some mating dance, when Amira notices a hijabi and (presumably) her daughter. She hides behind a tree, because she doesn’t want to be the hot gossip at the mosque, but Mohammed is all, “aw, I remember when I wasn’t traumatized by war and cared about trivial shit like this.”

Or maybe he doesn’t care because he never goes to the mosque. Okay, okay. I’ll stop.

At any rate, this is the first time that Mohammed says or does something that would actually pose a problem to Amira. This is quickly brushed aside because they get lost in each other’s eyes as soon as they make eye contact.

Kiki rudely interrupts this moment, but Amira’s like, “I’m busy, bye.” So she and Mohammed go on a musical montage where they box and push each other, and Mohammed sticks a flower in Amira’s hijab. Just enjoying the romance of it all! Until Amira notices Kiki’s called her three times, and I don’t want to say Kiki is the secondary love interest, but, you know.

It turns out that, while the parents were away, Essam decided to throw a rager. And he invited Kiki as he’s been working hard for her to notice him on insta. Kiki thought Amira would be attending this party when she got the invite, and has by now realized Amira wouldn’t approve of any of this.

Amira arrives at the party with Mohammed hot on her heels, and Kiki starts apologizing for thinking this was all on the up and up. Amira says her parents are at a wedding for the whole weekend, and Kiki gets distracted by Amira’s pretty lipstick. I don’t want to say Kiki is the secondary love interest, but, you know.

Amira confronts Essam, whose hair is looking a lot better than last time we saw it. Essam doesn’t seem to realize the seriousness of the situation, so Amira leans in and sniffs Essam’s breath. She asks Essam if he’s been drinking but he says no. However, he must be totally out of it because he wanders off, hypnotized by Kiki’s mermaid-esque beauty (or something).

Essam starts dancing with Kiki, who looks uncomfortable but goes along with it. At one point he puts his hand on her hip, and she grabs it and removes it from her body. Carlos (who has been blowing off his friends for weeks but is at this party, lol) notices this as it happens. Carlos shoves Essam and they start fighting.

Essam is bigger, or the German boy squad are lovers, not fighters, or Carlos was totally holding back, but either way Essam gets the upper hand and needs to be pulled off by both Amira and Mohammed. Kiki gets mad at Carlos for getting territorial over her. This is like, one of the most actually feminist moments to happen in a Skam that isn’t Skam España, I gotta say. Meanwhile Amira and Mohammed try to hold Essam accountable, but he starts feeling sick.

As this is all happening, Amira’s mom texts her to let her know that they came back because dad is, coincidentally, also sick (but not for the same reason lol).  Amira tells Kiki, who takes charge of the situation and kicks everyone out. She literally shoves people out of the house, and I just think Kiki was born to do this, tbh.

If you think about Kiki’s mom being an alcoholic, it kinda makes sense that Kiki thinks of spraying some air freshener as she leaves. She also takes a crate of bottles with her, but because this is Sana’s season, a couple are left behind. Amira and Mohammed weirdly hide them under a cushion, even though they have time to fold a blanket and regroup.

Mohammed thinks the date didn’t go too badly!

As Amira’s parents walk in, Mohammed has to carry Essam from where he was previously sitting on the floor waiting for the bathroom to be free, to a couch.

Amira’s mom is surprised to see Mohammed in the house, and I’m like, “why though?” It’s not like his outfit screams date (whereas Amira totally looks date-ready), and he and Essam are friends. Parents are so annoying, bless.

But she gets over it, especially as she notices Essam in a fetal position. She comes over to greet him and notices he’s cradling a vodka bottle like a baby, and of course she asks Amira and Mohammed what that is, cause you know, as the older sibling and friend they should be looking after him!

And then, Mohammed, Amira’s self-proclaimed spin doctor, tells Amira’s mom that he brought the bottle (and it just fell into Essam’s hands I guess lol). Amira’s mom is angry and reminds Mohammed that they’re Muslims, which makes me wonder if she knows he doesn’t believe in Allah. She’s also upset at Amira, because you know, they were just watching a movie yesterday and suddenly Mohammed is bringing vodka to her house for Essam to consume excessively, as Amira supposedly watches on in approval.

Amira doesn’t even respond, she’s so upset.

I think Druck pulled off this storyline the best out of the Sana versions, including Skam itself. One of the biggest problems with this storyline in Sana’s season is that it affected characters Sana wasn’t all that close to. Like, best buds and everything, but at the end of the day, Isak and Sana rarely hung out. Because the show is ultimately about the girl squad, not Isak’s squad or his friendship with Sana. So in Skam this storyline affected a school friend of Sana’s, his boyfriend, and a friend of her brother’s. Druck instead made it about Amira’s brother, one of Amira’s closest friends and her boyfriend.

Druck also chose to introduce this storyline in a multi pov episode, so that we got a better understanding of Kiki’s and Carlos’ mindsets going into the episode.

This will be more debatable, but I personally prefer that Druck didn’t hide the fight from us. In Skam, we don’t get to see the fight because Sana is supposed to believe those islamophobic Pepsi Max girls (and Yousef’s interpretation of why Even transferred) over her own brother. And I’m sure part of Julie’s intention was to make Skam viewers examine their own assumptions as to what happened, but the thing is… If people don’t want to examine their prejudices, they simply won’t. There are Skam viewers who, to this day, are convinced that Julie bowed to political correctness or whatever the fuck.  Druck makes all the characters’ motives clear and show us how the fight happened, and I’m sure there will still be assholes, but at least it’s not a “he said that’s what happened” situation.

It also doesn’t involve hypothetically homophobic Muslims, which was already dealt with in Isak’s (and Matteo’s) season. I personally don’t think this topic needs a rehash in a Sana season unless Sana herself is queer. Similarly, by making Amira’s brother the person to bring alcohol into the house, you don’t need to make the Sana bow down to the peer pressure of white mean girls.

Given that Essam is the one to bring alcohol into the house and to get handsy with Kiki, Druck did the absolutely correct thing and showed us Essam’s vulnerability before the fight. I would say, aside from Yousef, none of the Skam balloon squad was vulnerable in the same fundamental level that Essam is. Of course Elias is happy to hear that Even asked about him, and Mikael is quiet for a moment when he sees Even in his contact list. But ultimately, that’s friend drama. Essam changing his hair in hopes to fit in and be liked is about Essam himself.

I think Druck dropped Essam’s character arc right there because they intended season 5 to air in fall or winter last year. (Otherwise, why make Essam and Zoë Machwitz be the same age?) Now that both Zoë and Essam would be in their last year of high school, and Nora is slated to be the main instead, I hope they find a way to still fit Essam in there. So at least one Mahmood is done justice, you know.

On the downside, the focus on the Essam/Kiki/Carlos/vodka storyline means that Amira’s and Mohammed’s first date is not just cut short, but because of Druck’s time constraints, it also means that it’s mostly cuteness set to music.

Social media

Apparently Abdi heard that, without an insta, he just couldn’t match up to Mohammed, so he got one. Of course the first person he tells is Sam…

Mia posts a picture of a flamenca, because she’s in Madrid. Alex sends her a bunch of messages about arriving on Sunday, but Mia doesn’t respond to them (she did read them though).

Kiki posted a video of her workout, with Essam posting a similar video the day after to no response from Kiki. Kiki later posts a video of her yoga session, and when Essam does the same thing, he actually goes ahead and tags her in the story. The second hand embarrassment was felt across the globe.

After Amira tells Mia about her crush on Mohammed, she texts Sam to let her know as well. Sam takes it well (she’d pretty much figured it out after all). They agree to hang out later, and we get a couple pics on insta to commemorate the event. Which Abdi later copies to get Sam’s attention.    Just a terrible week for thirsty men on Druck.

Meanwhile, Matteo takes David to meet his mom, and David later posts an evocative drawing to commemorate the event. And that’s all we’re ever told about that, much to the frustration of David/Matteo stans.

Before the party, Kiki and Carlos fight over text because Carlos has decided to get a Fachabi rather than an Abi (so, like, a kind of high school diploma that would make it harder for him to go to uni, and better suited for a trade) without telling Kiki. I gotta say, I know Kiki and Carlos have moved in together and everything, but I think Carlos’ tertiary education being a team decision is way too intense for two high school graduates, as far as I see it.

There’s this one pic from Kiki’s stories where Essam is posing with a bunch of white girls, and it just gave me the worst flashbacks to those sorority videos where everyone is scarily in sync.

Final thoughts

The boy squad and balloon fight is the turning point in Sana’s season, and by moving it up and combining it with the booze left behind storyline, Druck turned it into a side storyline about Essam, instead. As I said, I think they pulled it off much better than Skam, but it also means that this is Amira’s third episode and Druck has chewed through most of the storylines in Sana’s season (including the love triangle with Noora/Sam, which is tossed aside this episode).

At this point, the only storylines left are Yousef’s lack of faith, Noorhelm drama and… The cyberbullying storyline which ends up unintentionally hurting Vilde. Ideally, Druck would’ve focused on the former of the three, and would have still gotten four episodes to really deal with it in a nuanced way, but we’ll see how that worked out.

Little girl- Part 1

This is a new dad! Ben Hardy series I had an idea for which is kind of like my other series A Big Family. I hope you all like it.

Summary: Ben and (Y/n) have three daughters together, but a trip to the doctors changes everything when they find out their youngest girl has cerebral palsy.

Tipping his head down, Ben cast his eyes to his youngest girl who was perched on his lap, her wide ocean blue eyes scanning around her new environment with eagerness. Ben couldn't help the sense of fear that was beginning to dwell in the pit of his stomach the longer he looked down at Luella.

He slowly rubbed his hand up and down her front as she stayed tucked up in his arms, not even trying to scramble from his lap like the other girls did at her age. Ben clearly remembered never being able to keep Charlie or Taylor still at any point, they would sit and cuddle with him for a while but they would soon grow bored and try and move. Especially if they were somewhere new, they would desperately try and crawl around or reach for the person sitting next to Ben. They wouldn't sit still like this or make no noise at all.

Ben slowly started swaying Luella from side to side on his lap before he turned his head to look at (Y/n) who had the same nervous expression on her face as he did.

"Maybe it's nothing... she could just be a bit slow." (Y/n) whispered the words so no one else in the waiting room would listen in but her tone showed that she didn't believe the words she had just spoken. They'd never had any problems with Taylor or Charlie when they were Luella's age, nothing had been wrong or worrying with them. (Y/n) and Ben were feeling desperate for the doctor to tell them today that there was nothing wrong with Luella either.

Ben didn't respond, he simply turned his head and gave his wife a certain look that showed her words were not ringing true in his ears.

"It could be something simple, you know. But baby, I don't think it's nothing." Ben knew there could be a range of possibilities for what was wrong with Luella but he was certain that this was not just her being a bit slow with developing. There was definitely something wrong and it was scaring both of them.

"Luella Jones?"

Ben slowly turned Luella round in his arms so she was resting against his chest before he got to his feet with (Y/n). Their eyes landed on the nurse who had called them and they followed her out of the waiting room and down the corridor into the doctor's office.

(Y/n) hooked her hand around Ben's arm as they both sat down next to the doctor's desk when they entered the room. It had been a while since they had been in this office, the last time they came here was when Charlie had a checkup. The last time they brought Luella here was when she had some of her vaccinations, they had never brought her here due to any worries or problems.

"Mr and Mrs Jones, what can I do for you?" Doctor Dale smiled as her eyes set upon the one-year-old in Ben's arms who had bleach blonde hair and big blue eyes that didn't look real.

"We're a bit worried about Ella, she's can't sit up on her own yet, and..." Ben sat Luella back down on his knees and held her sides, his heartbeat increasing as the problem was as clear as day.

Luella was just over a year old now and she should be able to sit up perfectly fine on her own and even crawl but she wasn't crawling properly and to sit up someone had to hold her. She didn't seem to possess the ability to hold up her own weight like she should. But now, as Ben held her sides, the doctor could see that she was swaying a bit. She wasn't keeping her weight up or held properly, it was like she was made of jelly and her limbs were floppy.

"Okay, let's take a look at her." The doctor's voice was calming as she stood to her feet and motioned for them to bring Luella over to the examination bed across the room.

Ben and (Y/n) stood next to the bed as Ben gently sat Luella down but kept his hands on her sides to hold her up so she didn't fall backwards.

"Could you let go of her so I can check her balance please?" She asked kindly as she stooped over so she could look at Luella properly who at least had a grin on her features. Clearly not knowing what was going on, not seeing the panic in her parent's features. Both Taylor and Charlie had been fine with sitting up on their own and they had been eager to crawl and walk but Luella wasn't. She wasn't trying to crawl and when she did she seemed to just flop on her front.

There was clear hesitation on Ben's face but he slowly let go of Luella all the same. He watched as her head tipped forward slightly as she moved her arms out at her sides before she flopped backwards. It was only about two seconds at the most that she was able to sit up unattended. Doctor Dale was quick to catch Luella so she didn't hurt herself when she fell but a small gurgle left her lips which showed she was completely fine.

The doctor gently sat Luella back up, nodding at Ben when he rested his hand on Luella's back to keep her upright so the doctor could examine her. She gently rested her fingers on Luella's head and checked her skull and if there was any bruising or swelling but there didn't seem to be any.

Reaching out, the doctor picked up a toy and held it a few inches away from Luella to see how she reacted and if she would reach for it. The little girl smiled and reached her arms out for the toy but her arms were very floppy and kept wavering up and down showing that she didn't hold the control over them that she should at her age. Her small hand clumsily bashed against the toy but it took her a minute to actually grab onto the stuffed toy. The moment she grabbed it she seemed to lean too far forward and flopped onto her front with a huff.

(Y/n) leaned her head on Ben's shoulder as she bit down on her lip, something was definitely wrong with their youngest girl.

"What's her eating like? Does she struggle to chew or swallow foods?"

"She eats rather slowly, but she doesn't struggle." (Y/n) shook her head as she reached over and sat Luella up again, wrapping her arms around the little girl who now looked confused as she cradled the toy to her chest. There were never any problems when she was eating, she ate all her food and she didn't choke or seem to have any issues when she was chewing or swallowing. It just seemed to take her a long time to chew and finish her food.

"Does she have any muscle spasms or random movements with her limbs?"

Ben and (Y/n) locked eyes but no answer seemed to form in either of their minds. She was one year old, random movements were normal for a baby of her age. She could suddenly reach out for something or lift her arms or kick her legs but they never seemed like spasms or uncontrolled.

"I don't know."

"Okay, would you like to take a seat again for me." Doctor Dale motioned to the seats again as she moved over and sat down at her desk. Waiting patiently for them to pick up Luella and sit back down where they had a few moments ago. "Were there any problems during your pregnancy with Luella, or any problems during her birth?"

(Y/n)'s shoulders slumped as she knotted her hands together in her lap, forcing her foot down against the floor to stop the sudden shaking of her leg from nerves. Luella's birth was something (Y/n) tried to forget about rather than recall because it wasn't a nice experience to go through.

"The doctor said she was distressed during labour... s-she wasn't breathing for a while when she was born."

Luella's labour hadn't gone as well as Taylor and Charlie's had a few years earlier. During labour (Y/n) had suffered a lot of bleeding and she clearly remembered being told that something was wrong with Luella and that she must have been distressed because her heart rate kept dropping lower and lower. When she had finally been born the doctors seemed to be running around like headless chickens, not knowing what they were doing or what they should do as Luella had a heartbeat but she wasn't breathing when she was born.

"But they said she was fine when she started to breathe, he said nothing was wrong." (Y/n) looked over at their youngest girl who was content in Ben's arms, looking like she was about to fall asleep and have a nap.

They had been reassured that when Luella started breathing, she was fine and she would be okay. She had a good heartbeat, she was breathing on her own and she didn't have any other problems and she hadn't been premature. The doctor said she was perfectly healthy and up until recently, there had been no cause for concern. They had had a few checkups and nothing had come up during those sessions.

They thought she was fine.

"I'm going to make you an appointment at the hospital, I would like Luella to have a brain scan."

Ben leaned his head back against the sofa as he smiled down softly at the toddler settled happily on his legs with a bright, open-mouthed smile on her lips. Somehow, it felt confusing to Ben that she was so happy and bright and he was the one feeling hurt and in pain for her now that he knew she wasn't well.

Luella had no idea that she wasn't well because she was one year old, she was a happy, bubbly little toddler who had no idea what kind of life she was going to have when she grew up.

"Daddy!" Ben turned his head at the sound of Taylor's excited voice, seeing his eldest girl bounding over to him before she sat herself down next to him on the carpet. Her eyes dancing between him and Luella with a bright smile as she leaned her head against Ben's arm.

Taylor knew Luella had been to the hospital for some tests so she simply assumed her sister was sick but in her head, sicknesses didn't last forever.

"Sweetheart, Ella's got an illness but it's not one that is gonna go away." Ben spoke gently as he tried to word it in a way that Taylor would understand because she was only seven but he knew it was hard. She wasn't going to understand why this wasn't something that could be cured by the hospital or some medicine like when she herself had a cold or tummy ache.

"Why, what's wrong with her?" Taylor leaned her chin on Ben's arm so she could look up at him properly. She knew something was wrong with her youngest sister but she hadn't been told what it was or what it meant. All Taylor knew was Luella was going to need a lot of care and attention and that everyone had to be careful and gentle with her.

"She's got a condition... it's affecting her muscles, she's not going to be able to walk properly or move normally like you can. She can't sit up at the moment on her own."

Ben didn't know how to explain it so Taylor would understand because even he and (Y/n) didn't know how badly Luella was going to be affected by what she had.

She had a condition called cerebral palsy which the doctor had told them was most likely caused by the lack of oxygen she had when she was born. It was affecting her muscles and it meant she wasn't going to be able to move freely or move her hands properly. She would have less control over her muscles and they suspected that walking was going to be very hard for her or even something she might not be able to do. It seemed to be affecting all of Luella's muscles, they weren't lucky enough that it only affected half of her body or even just her arms.

But they didn't know if this was going to affect her speech or her eating and swallowing in the future. It could cause her speech to be slurred or make it very hard for her to pronounce words, it might be harder for her to chew or swallow in the future.

It could cause her to have seizures, it could affect her bones and joints and it could cause her to have learning difficulties. None of these were certain or set in stone but they were all possibilities for her future and each one of them meant that Luella's life was going to be increasingly harder than her sister's lives would be.

"For how long?" Taylor looked back at her sister as her face fell and the smile slipped from her lips.

"It's... it's not something that goes away, Tay. But we're going to look after her and make sure she's okay, aren't we?" Ben kissed her temple when she nodded, her arms wrapping around his middle as it was clear her mood had dropped significantly. She didn't fully understand but she understood enough to know that this meant everything was going to change.

Ben had three daughters and now one of them had a lifelong condition that meant she was going to need a lot of care and looking after. He couldn't disappear for months at a time and miss hospital appointments or milestones in Luella's life. He wanted to be here as much as he could because she needed to be looked after and he couldn't leave (Y/n) to look after the girls, especially if it was going to be more difficult to look after Luella.

But she was his youngest girl, and Ben was going to do everything he could to help her and make sure she was okay.

So much has been written about the travesty of the debate, but I wouldn’t call it a debate. I would call it more an American Carnage. Carnage in the sense that there was one man literally trying to eat the other, the way a lion tears at its captured prey.

Can’t you just see Chris Christie and Rudy G in the debate prep telling The Don: “Don’t worry about facts, just eat his lunch! Better yet, skip the lunch and just eat him!”

I found it mind-boggling that anyone was surprised by The Don’s behavior. When are people really going to understand how disturbed and evil this man is?

This is what despairing bullies do. They rage. To be losing to a man he considers weak and impotent is humiliating. When The Don feels humiliated, he goes low, lower and lower. 

I searched for takeaways. Initially, I settled on three things:

And all those well-wishers out there: I understand what you are doing. You are trying to take the high road, do the opposite of what he would do. Show compassion. Just like the compassion he showed during the debate when Biden spoke about his son, Beau, who died of cancer or his son Hunter, who overcame substance abuse. Just like the compassion he showed back in 2016 when Hillary nearly collapsed form pneumonia.

Just like the compassion he showed when he mocked a journalist with disabilities.

I have no compassion for this man. None. He is evil. If you let your guard down and find a soft spot for him, thinking: oh now he will finally become human, chastened by this existential experience, you are naïve and deluded as he is.

There is no one this man won’t abuse, hurt, and try to destroy if given the opportunity.

And then there is his response to the pandemic.

Despite information to the contrary, he has downplayed the virus and put the entire country at risk.

He told the American people to use bleach, ultraviolet inside the body. Some of his devotees went out and swallowed bleach and a few died.

He is creating false hope and a narrative that a vaccine is around the corner. Ironically, his pathological lying and his attempt to rush a vaccine through without the rigorous testing it needs, has made the American public very skeptical about getting the vaccine. In fact, in a survey about who to trust regarding the validity of a vaccine, only 19% trusted The Don. I think more would trust cows (sorry to drag you through the mud, cows). Cornell University researchers analyzing 38 million English-language articles about the pandemic found that President Trump was the single most promoter of disinformation regarding the virus than anyone else. His malicious misinformation campaign will cause the death of many more Americans and perpetuate the pandemic.

His anti-mask attitude, disregard of truth and science, dismissal of social distancing as a method of prevention, has led to tens of thousands of unnecessary and preventable deaths. His delusional belief in his own invincibility put him in harms way and now he too is positive for the virus.

Even when he knew he was exposed to the virus (Hope Hick’s positive diagnosis), he went to a fund raiser in New Jersey and exposed all his rich supporters.

Most recently, he defied medical advice and decided to surprise his supporters by taking a joy ride around Walter Reade Hospital putting all the secret service members at risk. Here’s what one doctor at Walter Reade had to say about The Don’s publicity stunt:

“Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential ‘drive-by’ just now has to be quarantined for 14 days,” Dr. James P. Phillips, an attending physician at Walter Reed, wrote on Twitter. “They might get sick. They may die. For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity.”

He has no shame, and cares not one iota about the impact of this stunt. In fact, this action is a perfect reflection of who he is and how he has handled the pandemic. Isn’t there a crime called reckless endangerment? In some states, if you knowingly are H.I.V. positive and you infect someone else (without telling them you are positive) you can go to jail.

In addition to these most recent egregious acts, he has knowingly, willfully and amorally acted in a manner to foster a genocide of neglect.

I have said this many times: The Don’s and his Republican collaborators are making choices that lead to people dying.

Let’s call it what it is. Evil. No act is heinous enough when it comes to his (and their) desire to hold on to power.

Knowing The Don’s ability to overcome adversity, he, unlike 208,000 Americans, will most likely survive this. Trust me, there will be no transformation, no come to Jesus moment like Boris Johnson. His response will be more like President Bolsonaro of Brazil, who recovered from the virus and declared himself victorious, an Adonis in the face of death. He will return to the campaign trail and revert to his vulgar, vituperative self, denigrating others, destroying everything in his wake, including our democracy, if that’s what it takes to win.

Do you still want to know why I have no compassion and do not wish him well? All I can hope for, if he does get well, is that he is defeated in an historic landslide, takes down the Republican Senate with him and then he and his family will prosecuted and convicted for their many crimes, spending many years wearing an orange jumpsuit to match his absurd orange hair.

Now, we have some questions (that we aren't exactly sure how to Google, so bear with us as we work on this profile):

- Were any of the 500+ inquiries to tribal police? Looking at a map (included here) there are quite a few tribal communities in southern California. We are wondering how communication worked between county police and tribal officers in the 1980's.

It just seems crazy that a woman who was pregnant and potentially had a child/partner/family waiting for her at home hasn't been identified yet. This makes us think that perhaps she was part of a community that was either remote, insular, or didn't speak English as a majority language.

Did dentists and orthodontists have any kind of conventions or technique exchanges in the 1980s between the United States and Mexico? Investigators have ruled out the possibility of being a migrant worker based on the dental work.
