Last bone surgeon in northern Gaza killed, Palestinians say
A doctor believed to be the last remaining orthopaedic surgeon in northern Gaza has been killed by Israeli tankfire, according to Palestinian officials.
Dr Sayeed Joudeh died on Thursday while he was on his way to work.
He was a surgeon at Kamal Adwan and al-Awda hospitals in northern Gaza.
The Israeli military said it was unaware of the incident, but it was investigating.Read more

I cannot express the anger I experience being unable to do anything about anything while Christians salivate over the idea of the Israel-Hamas conflict being a sign of the Rapture
#anyways Free Palestine#Hamas attacked innocent people#The Israeli government is terrorizing innocent civilians that just want the right to live#Jewish people deserve to have land where they are safe to go to if there is another rise in antisemitic attacks in their current home#Palestinians deserve to have their homeland respected and safe for them to live on#All of these statements can be true at the same time#and I say all of this from the safe comfort of the US#I am not the one that you should listen to about the situation.#I am not the one who you should trust to give correct information about what is going on because I get the same information you do#We should be listening to Palestinians and the Israeli civilians affected#And unfortunately the news in the US is based on Christians who want nothing more than to escalate this#They do not want to recognize Palestinians unless it brings about a world war that triggers the Rapture#And I am enraged by it#I know people currently living in Israel#I know students from Palestine#And I am infuriated by christians treating them like pawns in their little Jesus War#These are people. These are fucking people#They are friends and family and lovers and so much more#I genuinely cannot express just how frustrated I am by my inability to do anything as I sit in safety#If you get nothing else from this post please listen to Palestinians and the war crimes they've experienced for decades now#If you get nothing else please listen to Israeli civilians begging for their government to stop escalating this conflict#Please listen to Jewish people and Muslims when they say shit like this increases violence against them around the world#Anyways I'm at the doctor and someone had CNN on and I'm tired#antisemitism tw#islamophobia tw#israel-hamas war tw#rapture tw

why do ppl keep assuming us politicans have so much power in israel exactly. at the end of the day they dont exactly get a say in whats to happen if israel or hamas doesnt want to comply.
#'ceasefire now' except hamas keeps declining a ceasefire bc god forbid they dont have more of their favorite terrorists#bc its not about getting home palestinian civilians its about getting home more ppl who want to make more israelis lives miserable#since a big thing for hamas is specifically hating jewish ppl and wanting to kill them all. which IS clear as day genocidal intent.#also its antithetical to their goals- they dont give af if palestinians die. they encourage it. it makes them look more sympathetic#literally how many times do we gotta point at the video of the leader saying its a good thing like#HOW CAN YOU DENY THIS#with all this in mind- what in the actual fuck are you expecting us politicians to do? what kind of power do you think they have here?#this is a conflict between two countries miles across the sea. its not a conflict between the US and some other country its two other#countries we dont have control over. if hamas wants more palestinians to die so they can get their Very Important Terrorist Friends Back#then what is to be done? if israel cant bring itself to compromise on this because of the very valid fucking fear of releasing *more*#terrorists who want to kill them all- what is to be done? what do you honest to god think kamala or joe can fuckin do?#its like two adults bullying eachother and you're an onlooker- you can try all you want to resolve the conflict but if they cant do it at#all between eachother for valid or not reasons then wtf are you expected to do?#and then all the people around you who've decided you have the power somehow to fix this are yelling at you for not fixing it#when you never had the power over this situation to fuckin begin with!

Hate hate hate hate fucking HATE contacting my reps basically saying shit like “I support Palestine, I want you to retract support from Israel, I support Palestine. I want you to stop what israel is doing in Gaza” over and over and them responding like “yes it’s so terrible we need a ceasefire but hamas is refusing to act civilized like our poor precious bby Israel” I hate America I hate America I hate it here hate hate hate hate hate
#I wish there was more I can do#I’m contacting reps and boycotting (not that I supported most companies that are being boycotted but have stopped the couple that I did)#and when I get paid Friday I’m planning on donating more#I’m trying to convince my annoying apathetic roommate that it’s not ‘pointless’ to do these things#as well as other ppl in my life#but when even doing these small things gets responses like this it’s so enraging#like I’m explicitly telling you I do not support what Israel is doing and they’re like ‘yes we know hamas bad’#FUCK YOU THATS NOT WHAT I SAID AND YOU DAMN WELL KNOW IT#UGH#I hate this stupid fucking country and they’re stupid fucking war crimes#and I wish there was more I could do#and I know this is useless saying all this and I don’t mean this in like a pity party way like ‘oohhh I’m not making a difference#and I feel bad :(‘ way#because what I feel regarding this is literally inconsequential#and I just need to continue doing what I can and uplifting Palestinian voices about everything#there’s just something so deeply insidious and disgusting about this country trying rephrase and put words in the mouths of ppl voicing that#they do NOT support this and want it to stop#which I know. I know is what the USA does. I know that’s what propoganda is#I’m just *muffled screaming*#anyways#fuck this country#kaz rambles

Probably the most controversial take I've ever posted here but I think if you assume everyone who supports Palestinian liberty is also inherently and irrevocably antisemitic, that's maybe a you problem and not their fault
#i dont support genocide meaning i dont support the genocide of jewish people or the genocide of palestiniabs#palestinians*#jewish people on the whole are not to blame for the actions of israel and should not be held accountable as such#no one should be antisemitic for what israel is doing#but what israel is doing is committing war crimes.#they are bombing hospitals and churches and they are killing in the thousands#palestine is not hamas and just as no one can hold jewish people accountable for israeli warcrimes#you cannot hold all of palestine accountable for the crimes of hamas#when are people going to learn how to separate extremists and terrorists from the populations they claim to be working for#and i have said it before but i will say it again#EVEN IF the hospital israel bombed (and then lied about afterwards) ACTUALLY WAS a hamas base camp#it was still an active running hospital#EVEN IF they were trying to eradicate a terrorist group#they fucking Bombed A Hospital to do it. that is not acceptable

The isreali people are not committing a genocide - Benjamin Netanyahu is.
Also to say you don't care about Hamas is insane. HAMAS wants to commit genocide against the isrealis, and if you don't understand the history of Jews in the middle east, and the genocides against them, you'll never understand why this conflict is as extreme as it is, because isrealis don't want to kill all Palestinians, they want secure borders that aren't being threatened by Iran-backed terrorist groups who want to genocide them. Hamas is also killing Palestinians and using them as human shields against Isreal. Are isreali children not also innocent children??
I'm sympathetic to the isreali people (who DONT THINK all Palestinians should die btw- thats fucking antisemetic BS) because they've been fleeing genocide for generations, but because of antisemitism, Isreal is described as "colonizers" instead of what they actually are: REFUGEES. And leftists in America would rather side with or "not care" about a terrorist organization hellbent on genociding the last safe haven for middle eastern Jews, than have any sympathy for the isreali people.
It would be like someone saying that any and all Americans deserve to die violently by terrorist attack for the wars the government has waged against Afghanistan. That's fucked.
you cannot claim to support jews and think that every israeli should die btw
#if we're calling it what it is#if we're being honest#its fucking antisemitism#i want a 2 state solution where both isrealis and palestinians are free from the corrupt isreali government and Hamas#and to say you care about what isreal is doing but not hamas is completely ignorant#either fully educate yourself about the history of the conflict#or shut the fuck up#no one needs this fake activist bullshit where you side with/ “dont care” about the terrorist organization#that is the other major player in this conflict#the terror organization that is provoking these attacks and attacking themselves#the terrorist organization that is subjecting Palestinians to their cruelty#palastinians are protesting hamas#but you “dont care”#hamas is killing gazans#its fucking antisemetic#palastine will never be free under the rule of hamas#its bullshit

A pro-Palestine Jew on tiktok asked those of us who were raised pro-Israel, what got us to change our minds on Palestine. I made a video to answer (with my voice, not my face), and a few people watched it and found some value in it. I'm putting this here too. I communicate through text better than voice.
So I feel repetitive for saying this at this point, but I grew up in the West Bank settlements. I wrote this post to give an example of the extent to which Palestinians are dehumanized there.
Where I live now, I meet Palestinians in day to day life. Israeli Arab citizens living their lives. In the West Bank, it was nothing like that. Over there, I only saw them through the electric fence, and the hostility between us and Palestinians was tangible.
When you're a child being brought into the situation, you don't experience the context, you don't experience the history, you don't know why they're hostile to you. You just feel "these people hate me, they don't want me to exist." And that bubble was my reality. So when I was taught in school that everything we did was in self defense, that our military is special and uniquely ethical because it's the only defensive military in the world - that made sense to me. It slotted neatly into the reality I knew.
One of the first things to burst the bubble for me was when I spoke to an old Israeli man and he was talking about his trauma from battle. I don't remember what he said, but it hit me wrong. It conflicted with the history as I understood it. So I was a bit desperate to make it make sense again, and I said, "But everything we did was in self defense, right?"
He kinda looked at me, couldn't understand at all why I was upset, and he went, "We destroyed whole villages. Of course we did. It was war, that's what you do."
And that casual "of course" stuck with me. I had to look into it more.
I couldn't look at more accurate history, and not at accounts by Palestinians, I was too primed against these sources to trust them. The community I grew up in had an anti-intellectual element to it where scholars weren't trusted about things like this.
So what really solidified this for me, was seeing Palestinian culture.
Because part of the story that Israel tells us to justify everything, is that Palestinians are not a distinct group of people, they're just Arabs. They belong to the nations around us. They insist on being here because they want to deny us a homeland. The Palestinian identity exists to hurt us. This, because the idea of displacing them and taking over their lands doesn't sound like stealing, if this was never theirs and they're only pretending because they want to deprive us.
But then foods, dances, clothing, embroidery, the Palestinian dialect. These things are history. They don't pop into existence just because you hate Jews and they're trying to move here. How gorgeous is the Palestinian thobe? How stunning is tatreez in general? And when I saw specific patterns belonging to different regions of Palestine?
All of these painted for me a rich shared life of a group of people, and countered the narrative that the Palestininian identity was fabricated to hurt us. It taught me that, whatever we call them, whatever they call themselves, they have a history in this land, they have a right to it, they have a connection to it that we can't override with our own.
I started having conversations with leftist friends. Confronting the fact that the borders of the occupied territories are arbitrary and every Israeli city was taken from them. In one of those conversations, I was encouraged to rethink how I imagine peace.
This also goes back to schooling. Because they drilled into us, we're the ones who want peace, they're the ones who keep fighting, they're just so dedicated to death and killing and they won't leave us alone.
In high school, we had a stadium event with a speaker who was telling us about a person who defected from Hamas, converted to Christianity and became a Shin Bet agent. Pretty sure you can read this in the book "Son of Hamas." A lot of my friends read the book, I didn't read it, I only know what I was told in that lecture. I guess they couldn't risk us missing out on the indoctrination if we chose not to read it.
One of the things they told us was how he thought, we've been fighting with them for so long, Israelis must have a culture around the glorification of violence. And he looked for that in music. He looked for songs about war. And for a while he just couldn't find any, but when he did, he translated it more fully, and he found out the song was about an end to wars. And this, according to the story as I was told it, was one of the things that convinced him. If you know know the current trending Israeli "war anthem," you know this flimsy reasoning doesn't work.
Back then, my friend encouraged me to think more critically about how we as Israelis envision peace, as the absence of resistance. And how self-centered it is. They can be suffering under our occupation, but as long as it doesn't reach us, that's called peace. So of course we want it and they don't.
Unless we're willing to work to change the situation entirely, our calls for peace are just "please stop fighting back against the harm we cause you."
In this video, Shlomo Yitzchak shares how he changed his mind. His story is much more interesting than mine, and he's much more eloquent telling it. He mentions how he was taught to fear Palestinians. An automatic thought, "If I go with you, you'll kill me." I was taught this too. I was taught that, if I'm in a taxi, I should be looking at the driver's name. And if that name is Arab, I should watch the road and the route he's taking, to be prepared in case he wants to take me somewhere to kill me. Just a random person trying to work. For years it stayed a habit, I'd automatically look at the driver's name. Even after knowing that I want to align myself with liberation, justice, and equality. It was a process of unlearning.
On October, not long after the current escalation of violence, I had to take a taxi again. A Jewish driver stopped and told me he'll take me, "so an Arab doesn't get you." Israeli Jews are so comfortable saying things like this to each other. My neighbors discussed a Palestinian employee, with one saying "We should tell him not to come anymore, that we want to hire a Jew." The second answered, "No, he'll say it's discrimination," like it would be so ridiculous of him. And the first just shrugged, "So we don't have to tell him why." They didn't go through with it, but they were so casual about this conversation.
In the Torah, we're told to treat those who are foreign to us well, because we know what it's like to be the foreigner. Fighting back against oppression is the natural human thing to do. We know it because we lived it. And as soon as I looked at things from this angle, it wasn't really a choice of what to support.
#riki babbles#I had this in my drafts for ages and I was like 'not the time' but a friend encouraged me to share so here it is#palestine

if you support israel right now, you're supporting the extermination of the palestinian people.
it really is that simple.
this isn't a 'complicated conflict,' it isn't a situation that 'requires nuance,' it's not a 'geopolitical event' that requires us to condemn the 'bad actors' on 'both sides.'
it's a genocide.
there is no 'nuance' to be had here. it's a genocide, committed by the israeli state against the palestinian people, and it's happening right now as we speak. you don't have to infer anything: israel has openly, with next to no pushback from so-called liberal democracies, cut off gaza's access to water, food and electricity. that's more than two million palestinians denied even the basic necessities for life. a million of them, children.
what is that, if not a genocide?
and that's only the latest escalation. we could go all day, listing the atrocities the palestinian people have been subjected to. the killings, the beatings, the children sexually abused in detention center, all the hospitals and ambulances being blown up, videos of palestinians being heckled by settlers as they're driven from their homes, israelis gathering on hilltops to cheer as their military drops bombs on gaza...
but all westerns want to talk about, is hamas.
because the murder of palestinians by the IDF is status quo; it doesn't affect them. what's one more dead palestinian but a statistic? but if hamas has killed a handful of israelis — if they've go as far as to even kill babies — then that justifies the extermination of two million palestinians, children and infants included.
westerns will even say that the palestinians brought it on themselves; that they should have know that a drop of israeli blood requires a river in return.
and just so we're clear, you don't have to like hamas. but when you equate hamas with the IDF, when you derail every conversation by demanding a condemnation of 'both sides,' or when you, god forbid, agree that israel is justified in dismantling hamas — which, as israel themselves have outlined, will involve the complete destruction of gaza and the murder of hundreds of thousands of civilians — then either wake up, or own up to the fact that you're a participant in the extermination of the palestinian people.
do you think i'm being harsh? then imagine how it's like living under constant aerial bombardment. with no food, no water, no electricity. constant air-raid sirens. a bomb, dropping every minute. never knowing a moment a peace, always wondering if today is going to be your last day, if you and your family are still going to be here tomorrow.
could you stomach living in gaza, for even a day? i doubt it.
and still, now, on the eve of what might be the ground invasion of gaza — with one million palestinians being told to flee, with nowhere to go — i'm getting messages from people who demand my sympathy... for israel.
well, you're not getting it.
i'm not even humoring your hand-wringing.
if you live in israel, and you're one of the ones who've turned a blind-eye to the suffering of the palestinian people, if you've fought for the IDF or tacitly supported them, if you've callously called upon the memory of the holocaust thinking the death and suffering of your ancestors would wash the blood of your own hands....
then yeah, i think you deserve every single hamas rocket lobbed at you and so much more.

Okay, I have to say this. (Even tho I do talk about activism sometimes here, but this is mainly an art and fandom blog after all)
I have liked posts about Israel and Palestine but refrained from reblogging or commenting because to be honest, I am outside of this issue and it's not my place to speak for the people in this (and it's still too early for me to form a strong opinion because I've only started following this three months ago). The best I can do for now is to educate myself and not believe everything I see on the mainstream news.
But seeing what happened, I just want to say that I am not defending this attack by Hamas and I don't support them, and I am definitely NOT defending settler colonialism and genocide. No matter if you are Israeli or Palestinian; Jewish, Muslim or Christian; I'm keeping you in my thoughts and I hope you all can stay safe in these times. That's all I'm going to say at this moment.
Edit: oh and also DON'T be a racist. If I catch you using I/P to project your antisemitism, islamophobia or anti-Arab racism then you are not affiliated with me.
(antisemites and Islamophobes DNI)
#alex speaks#honestly everything I see is so biased#its either pro-Israel's government or Hamas#last I remember I do have followers living in Israel#I dunno if I have Palestinian followers as well but thats not the point#its basic human decency to not want a particular ethnic#or cultural#or religious group to be exterminated#I am seeing so many people say the US should turn Gaza into a beach#and that they should push the people of Gaza#and Palestinians into the sea#what the actual FUCK is wrong with you#rant#politics tw#do not reblog#I'm sorry about the rant in the tags#but I have to say this#I've seen too much blatantly genocidal comments and I can't stand it

Let's talk about the Genocide happening in Palastine
Honestly I can see how Hitler got away with the Mass Genocide of the Jews like LOOK AT THIS?!??!
History calls Hitler a dictator and the one who killed off Jews for existing and the world was not okay with it and it IS STILL not okay ( and be no means are jews responsible )
But now that we see History replay itself in the form of Israel against Palestinians what does the world say about The Palestinians? Violent, criminals, terrorists, they deserved to die.... HOW COULD THEY DO THAT??!?!
Kids are dying every single day, more and more footages are being released and STILL SO MANY CHOOSE to ignore them because well
"October 7 was devastating" and yes it was and by no means am I disregarding that but then, WELL WHAT ABOUT THE YEARS OF ATTACKING THEM?!?!? Oh my it seems they have selective blindness *surprised Pikachu face*
Look Hamas killed that's not okay and those are the only people they've killed. Hamas is NOT A TERRORIST organization they are the ONLY force the Palestinians has to fight against the Israel soldiers
If Hamas stop, Palestine will be no more. and that is EXACTLY why Israel wants to get rid of them, the only hope for the Palestinians
It is beyond my comprehension how even after seeing INNUMERABLE Children dying, Families and Bloodlines ERASED from existence, attacking HOSPITALS, attacking FOOD SHELTERS some people can still support Israel....
#gaza#from the river to the sea palestine will be free#free gaza#gaza strip#gaza genocide#palestine#i stand with palestine#gazaunderattack#palestine genocide#israel#free palestine#free free palestine#genocide

(Post edited for clarity)
Leftists and the “pro-Palestine” movement need to stop comparing the Israel/Hamas war to the Holocaust and calling it a genocide, because CLEARLY it is not and the death toll is nowhere near the same.
The word "genocide" was coined by Polish Jew Raphael Lemkin to describe the horrifying systematic mass murder of Jews during the Holocaust, where 63% of all the Jews in Europe and 39% of all the Jews IN THE ENTIRE WORLD were murdered.
Now let's take a look at a couple death toll estimates via the percent of the population during World War 2, since that's a pretty recent war that I'm sure everyone knows about:
Do you want to know the percent of the Japanese population that was killed during that war? 3.5%.
Now, guess the population percentage how many Germans were killed. Any guesses? 6%.
The US lost about .2% of our population, the French lost .5%, and then the British lost .55%.
Now that you have those statistics, what do you think the population percentage of Palestinians that have died during the Israel/Hamas war is? Any guesses?
It's 62,614 casualties, which we'll round up to 63,000 for simplicity, out of the total population of Palestine which is above 5 million (but we'll keep it at just 5 million for simplicity), and that gives us...
...1.26%.
I want all of you to take those numbers and think on that.
Think on whether or not you've ever tried to argue that Germans or the Japanese were being genocided in WW2, since they lost a bigger percentage of their population during that war than Palestine has.
Think on whether or not you've said that the US, UK, or any of the other Allied Powers should be nuked off the face of the earth, or that everyone---including civilians who've done nothing---should be murdered/raped/mutilated/etc. because of what their governments did during that war.
Think on whether or not you've harassed people from the US, UK, or other Allied countries for what went on during WW2 or excused harassment of them behind a tagline of "we're just protesting."
...
And then think on why you find it acceptable to treat Jews and Israelis like complete and utter SHIT, harass them, justify the murder and rape of their people, and say that the ONLY country that has ever actually been SAFE for them to live* should be wiped off of the face of the earth along with everyone living there (which is 50% of all the Jews in the entire world, mind you, which would be WORSE than what happened during the Holocaust...just so y'all know what you're advocating for)---for the "crime" of fighting in a war that was started by a terrorist organization dedicated to wiping Jews off the face of the earth, and having a total death toll percent less than what other countries had in WW2.
I want all of you to think real hard on that and then try to tell me that you're on "the right side of history" because you think being bigoted in a rainbow t-shirt makes you any better than the ones wearing swastikas.
(Additions from others that I’m adding onto the original because they’re important)

The new fabricated piece of Israeli atrocity propaganda, that Hamas baked a baby in an oven, is lifted directly from Palestinian survivor testimonies about what Zionist militants did during the Deir Yassin massacre of 1948.
[Warning, explicit descriptions of torture and violence.]
“I saw the Zionist terrorist soldiers ordering the bakery man of the village to throw his son in the oven and burn him alive. The son is holding the clothes of his father tightly and crying from fear and pleading to his father not to do it. The father refuses and then the soldiers hit him in his gut so hard it caused him to fall on the floor. Other soldiers held his son, Abdel Rauf, and threw him in the oven and told his father to toast him well-done meat. Other soldiers took the baker himself , Hussain al-Shareef, and threw him, too, in the oven, telling him, “follow your son, he needs you there”. - Testimonial from Othman Akel, recorded in Palestine Rising: How I survived the 1948 Deir Yasin Massacre (2010).
Like the saying goes, "every Zionist accusation is a confession."
It almost makes me wonder if it's part of a deliberate tactic to obfuscate search engine results. Because if you now search for something like say, 'Israeli solider put child in oven,' all the top results will be about Hamas, not Deir Yassin.
#palestine#israel#gaza#akel's testimony was also included in the documentary '1948: Creation & Catastrophe'
