I was wondering this for a while, who would most likely desire a darling like Dazai but female out of the Moriarty brothers, also if you consider the light novels the mental abilities of Bsd verse far surpass the MP verse, so the character with Dazai's level of intellence and his persona.
Okay so I deep dived into reading about Dazai cause I am already a huge BSD fan (Paul Verlaine is the best character and I will fight someone on this) and while Dazai is undoubtedly a genius, he is not quite as smart as say William or Mycroft, he is probably in between Sherlock and William. If you set it in perspective he seems smarter because of the times the mangas/animes take place, Moriarty the Patriot taking place in the Victorian Era while Bungou Stray Dogs is set in modern day (2010s-2020s), so it makes sense how Dazai would seem smarter because he has access to quite a few more modern tools while William does not. There is also the fact that Dazai is written to be this smart mentor character rather than the main character so there is a mysterious feeling to him that adds to the genius appearance.
Anyway continuing on lol
Also for reference I’m going to be using more ADA Dazai for reference, like after all the stuff in the PM happened
The answer is William, because it is pretty obvious that William has a thing for energetic genius detectives when you look at his interactions with Sherlock. He probably meets his darling when she gets hired via her detective agency to investigate a disappearance of one of his students or something similar, similar to what happened to Lucian, something that would also catch William’s attention. They would not talk, he would just see her out of the corner of his eye, walking about campus. Then when he looks into her and the disappearance he finds out that she is a detective from a well known agency who was hired to look into the disappearance by the family of the student. He did not even speak to her until the student was found and the case was closed, she found the student, but he was the one who put an end to the one who kidnapped them in the first place, the other making the other’s job even more difficult. He would play the role of worrying professor and thank her for saving his student, and drops the question…
“I wonder how you understand criminal activity so well? You found him so quickly, it is quite remarkable.”
He looked into her, digging as deep as he could to see if she would be an issue, similar to what he did with Sherlock. Sure to find out she was a detective with a high intelligence level with self sacrificing tendencies was easy, but it took a bit of help from Albert and perhaps asking Mycroft for a favor to find out about her past…
138 counts of conspiracy to murder…
312 counts of extortion…
625 counts of assorted fraud and other crime…
She was an executive of a criminal organization during her youth and now she deserted them to turn a new leaf. Honestly they are an enigma even to William, so he begins to keep tabs on her, having Moran or Bonde staking out near her agency and having one of them or Fred follow her when she breaks from her normal pattern of working at her agency’s office or going on certain cases. He will even find one of her colleagues whom she mentors and ask the young boy about her.
“Hm? You want to know about her, well she found me when I was kicked out of my orphanage, she is a bit of an odd one but she and the agency took me in when no one else would.”
Eventually he follows her himself one day when she is leaving work, but he certainly did not expect to find her visiting a grave. William pieces it together that she is one of the only people who visits this grave and takes care of it. She just turns over her shoulder to look at him with a smile.
“Hello Professor Moriarty, I was wondering when you were going to follow me yourself rather than having your colleagues do it.”
She knew he was following her this whole time and he sits with her at the grave in silence for a bit, waiting for her to say something, to explain what she is doing here and of course she catches on and answers before he even needs to ask.
“The person buried here was my first friend, when he died he encouraged me to do something meaningful and help other people instead of what I was doing. He wanted me to do something good with my life and so I left. I threw out everything I had before to do something meaningful, I know it will never make up for the wrongs I have done, but it is a start and well… I really do hope the wicked can change their ways because otherwise everything I have done has been in vain and I am a disgrace to the promise I have made to him.”
In a way her words may put the world in perspective to him but he cannot stop his plans to rid the world of the class system. Then again he now has a new found respect for her that he would not dare lay a hand on her, but that being said he cannot allow her to get in the way and if push comes to shove he will deal with her as necessary, but again he respects her too much to harm her…
Taking her in…
He looks at the good she has done and unlike the nobles he has killed she has actually tried to make amends for her actions.
She has made herself a new, taking what was once was wicked in her heart and making it pure…
Her heart is a reflection of what he wants to do to this horrible world.

How about some wedding/honeymoon headcannons for Cyrus, Larry, and whoever else you want? 💚
SO. I did Submas stuff for weddings already. So they're out, but you can read it here.
I tossed in some assorted person headcanons too... I hope that's alright lol
cw: sort of long?, fluff, weddings, proposals,
characters: Cyrus, Larry, Nanu, Grimsley
🌌Cyrus🛰
☄️ Marriage is admittedly something that he tries to avoid. Inherently, he sees nothing wrong with it. More so, he views it logically as a legal union between two people to make asset inheritance and division easier. The issue comes up due to his past with it. His parents had tried to force him into multiple arranged marriages. For people of his social standing, it was normal. Expected, even, but the thought of being legally tied to someone his parents had decided for him left him sleepless for many nights. Yet… when it came to you, his current partner, the idea was growing to bother him less and less. After his plans… went awry, he found himself even more comfortable with the idea. His plan had always been to propose the idea anyway. Which is what he did. Quite bluntly, he held his hand out to you and spoke, “Beloved, marry me and hold this hand.” It was not posed as a question – No, it was simply a statement. You had no intention of saying no, anyway.
☄️ A wedding was not at all on his mind. He saw no use in a decorative ceremony for what could just as easily be done within legal parameters in a more quiet and easy manner. You will just be added to his family registry. Simple as that. Nothing flashy or traditional – Legality only. Granted, he would allow a smaller party if that was what you wanted. It is more tame than a wedding and is composed of a few select friends and family members. Cyrus's side is lacking, to say the least, but his commanders show up, as does his grandfather, unexpectedly. The event is likely held somewhere at the Galactic building on a day off and makes the event almost feel like a weird office party. It is all a bit odd, but Cyrus was not exactly known for his normal proclivities. It is overall a good time, and you even awkwardly get to feed him cake while he tries to remain collected.
☄️ Cyrus struggles to comprehend why he should take a while off from work to enjoy his marriage. To him, it is illogical. Being married to you does not change your situation. You have lived with him for a while leading up to everything, so there is no adjustment period. Still, you clearly wanted it, so he would relent and take off work. It was to say no as well when Mars seemed to glare at him until he did. Her investment in his love life bewildered him. Even Jupiter seemed to get in on it. He almost felt forced out of the office and onto a vacation with you. His choice in location was originally going to be somewhere else in Sinnoh, but it changed when Mars and Jupiter suggested something more grand. Jubilife was not grand – It was a day trip.
☄️ Instead, you both went to Johto. Something about the traditional charm drew him in. It seemed like a quieter and more peaceful place as opposed to other options. He opts to stay in Ecruteak to allow you both to fully absorb the area's unique scenery. You both spend a lot of time in the inn that he somehow booked despite it apparently usually requiring months prior reservation. The old building's charm intrigued him. Yet, you both visited many of the different offerings of Johto. Goldenrod caught his attention quite thoroughly, but he seemed to enjoy the peace that both Ecruteak and Violet held. You both opted against Cianwood and Olivine for a few reasons.
☄️ The most memorable part was… climbing Mt. Silver. Cyrus's previous training paid off, and it was a fun bonding activity. It also made soaking in a hot bath at the inn all the better. A few day trips over to Kanto made the trip all the better, too. Ultimately, Cyrus felt glad he took the experience and deeply enjoyed the precious moments spent with you. Though, it was less of a honeymoon and more of a general vacation.
💼Larry🏢
🍙 Marriage crossed Larry's mind a few times over the years. It was something that he wanted aspired for at one point, but that had gone away as his work quickly became overwhelming and made meeting people outside of it difficult. His age was also a concern. Being middle-aged did not make marriage any easier to achieve. Yet, here he was, readying himself to propose exactly that. The stress swirled in his mind as his hands tied his tie from muscle memory alone. Rika had suggested something simple. A nice date out and then pulling out a ring in a quiet, isolated location.
🍙 He naturally asked you out to one of the nicer restaurants in Medali and planned to walk with you into a quieter part of the city to ask you. Dinner had gone well. Sharing a meal truly was one of the best ways to bond with another person… His confidence felt oddly higher as he brought you to the amphitheatre. The location was almost entirely deserted when he turned to you and fumbled down to one knee. The ring was brought out with all the stiffness expected of carrying a stack of papers. He made uncomfortable eye contact and cleared his throat, “… Marry me?” Despite everything, you were more than eager to take the ring and agree to his simple request.
🍙 He does not really care for anything wedding related. Truthfully, he was panicking thinking about how he could schedule it in to his itinerary. He expected Geeta to hear that he was engaged and dump extra work on him instantly in reply. Instead, she gave one of her polite smiles and a quiet applause for him. He was given a few days off, stating that it was about time for him to settle down. He still is not sure that he wants the stress of a ceremony. Though, he does relent if his partner asks specifically for one. He would only ask that it be a smaller one. For him, the part and parcel that matters most is simply signing the paperwork and having it notarised under the letter of the law. He would also be fine with a reception party afterwards. His fellow league members would likely pop in and happily chat about how they cannot believe the ageing man finally did it. He is just eating the food provided in the background. His favourite memory is you feeding him a slice of the wedding cake, at least.
🍙 Larry almost wants to beg to just take your honeymoon at home. He is exhausted, and having so much time off almost makes him want to sleep for the entirety of it. After all, it was not like your situation was heavily changed from anything. Legally, you were married, but he would not deny that he had basically begun to treat you like his spouse even before he thought about proposing. Though, for whatever reason, Poppy seemed to gush to Rika about how lucky it was for Larry, and you get to go on a romantic trip together. Rika then turned around and asked where he was going. The green-haired woman was shocked with his reply and essentially insisted on doing something – Even just getting out of Medali! He did relent, especially if you had previously asked about taking a trip for it.
🍙 Somehow, Alola becomes the settled location. Larry felt nervous about putting everything together but became intrigued when finally both landed in the tropical paradise. Hau'oli city was definitely a tourist area filled with the hustle and bustle of people. Yet, he felt the slow pace of the region began to sink into him as you both took a boat ride across to Akala island. The Tide Song Hotel was very accommodating and pleasant. He could almost sleep an entire day away in the bed, yet you absolutely made it clear that you desired his attention. The two of you ventured around to see the natural beauty provided by the islands and even found Larry a friend in a Drampa by accident. He felt as if Hassel was standing before him in pokemon form. There are even a few romantic moments spent together watching the ocean together from your hotel room's balcony or sitting together on the beach. Larry, however, would admit the food was the most memorable thing for him. He recalled some older look at him in shock as he ordered seconds at the Sushi High Roller. Ultimately, the honeymoon ends up more as a nice getaway than anything overly romantic, but it does have its moments.
🐈⬛️Nanu❤️🩹
🌑 Marriage… He does not think it ever really crossed his mind. It was not like he did not want it, but more so that his path in life did not exactly align with it. Marriage was far from his mind while he was an International Police officer, and then by the time he found himself back in Alola, he had the role of Kahuna forced on him. Love was not something he actively sought out, yet it found him. Marriage had not been something he considered until his heart had been captured by you. It felt strange to be considering a proposal at his age.
A ring was easy enough to get, but how did he do this? Hala said to just ask while Olivia suggested something grand. He felt exhausted while thinking about it. Yet, he did not want you to feel like he did not care. He found himself inviting you out to Route 14 just as the sun was beginning to set. His hand grasped the ring box in his pocket as he gazed at the water. Eventually, he found himself holding the ring box out to you while scratching the back of his head. “You can say no,” Nanu felt almost like you would. He worried that you were going to break a bone with how tightly you held him.
🌑 He dreaded the idea of a wedding ceremony. Alolan ones were often overly romanticised, but the idea stressed him out. The Tapu might even decides to make an appearance and make everything all the more exhausting. It almost felt like an obligation as a Kahuna, and you might even have your heart set on it. If you do, he will warn you clearly that the ceremony will have some odd moments. Despite that, if you still insist, he will obligate. It almost feels a bit like a festival with how all the other Kahunas and a few captains show up. Acerola was beyond excited to fill in as a flower girl. The officiant got scared by Tapu Bulu's loud cry when he allowed you to come together for an interesting ending. Nanu pressed his forehead to yours – not for a kiss – but for a shared breath. Apparently, it was a tradition. The Tapu seemed proud to see its choice of a Kahuna finally settling down. Nanu would admit that he enjoyed it despite the hassle in the end. The end of the wedding was followed by a feast, in which everyone seemed more than ready to congratulate the old man on his accomplishment. Hala gave a full laugh after saying his piece. The day was truly something joyous on Ula'Ula
🌑 Nanu did not understand the need for a honeymoon… First, he would have to get the Tapu's permission, which might get rejected, and then he would have to leave someone else in charge. He just wanted to accept the change in the comfort of your shared home. Besides, Alola was already considered the location for honeymooners. Most people paid insane amounts of money to spend time here. You lived here with him… Is that not enough? Olivia actually agreed with that one unexpectedly, too, but Acerola seemed to demand that you two take an actual trip. He struggled to even think of anywhere to go. Sure, his job used to take him all over, but now all he wanted was to stay and relax. Olivia suggests Unova. Tapu Bulu accepted his request. He could not escape this fate.
🌑 Unova ended up being the destination. Nanu was not unfamiliar with the region, but he would not say that he was overly familiar either. The region was busy, yet full of entertainment. Nimbasa was where you both found your honeymoon anchored. The city was vibrant and exciting. Nanu felt like he was in an entirely different world than the one that he had grown accustomed to in Alola. Yet, you both quickly took to exploring the sights. The amusement park was a thrilling and allowed for a romantic moment between you both on the Ferris wheel. The musicals showed a strange form of entertainment that had not quite made its way to Alola... You both even tried out the Battle Subway but found yourselves defeated the two odd fellows that ran it. There were even trips to Castelia, Virbank, Black City and anywhere else that a friend of Nanu's seemed to recommend. The trip became a nice change up. Undella and Humilau almost had you both feeing as if you were back home. Though, Nanu definitely preferred the comfort of your hotel to anything else. Relaxing in with you was nicer than any offerings of this region. Ultimately, Nanu is glad he took the trip and you both had a fun experience together.
♠️Grimsley❤️
♤ Marriage… Grimsley loathed the idea a bit. Perhaps it was the nature of his collapsing family that he grew up in that turned him away, or how badly it meshed with his lifestyle. He was not afraid to say that he slept around with little interest in proper relationships. Marriage seemed like a thing that would never intercept his path. Besides, that gamble of being in the fifty-seven percent of people that did not divorce… He felt his luck might run out there. Well, he had felt that way. Grimsley had been quite certain of that for a long while. But, he went broke. His thrill seeking behaviour had finally done something that he could not recover from easily. Then, you showed up. For once in his entire life, marriage had entered his mind as a desired thing. The scariest gamble of his life. Grimsley truly felt strange.
♡ Shauntal had come to him as he sat in deep thought within his Elite Four chamber. She had started laughing at how plain it was. Stop thinking of it as gambling… The advice led him to finding himself on one knee across from you in an isolated area of a casino. A brilliant ring was held out to you. “… Will you marry a guy like me?” he asked, feeling the hesitance eat at him. Your reply was to eagerly put on the ring and embrace him. A smug feeling filled the gaps left by his uncertainty.
◇ A wedding ceremony was fine to him, or you both could just go through the legal channels. Though, a ceremony will likely be held in a far too expensive venue within Black City. The other Elite Four members attend alongside Alder. A strange older man also shows up and seems bewildered to see Grimsley as a groom. The event has a classy, high air feeling to it somehow, yet there is some strange undertone. The ceremony is admittedly quick – The dark-type specialist was not one for lingering on traditions. The kiss between you both left you breathless. His piercing eyes gazed at you, much like his Liepard when she was ready to pounce. The reception consisted of multiple people amazed that he actually got married, and many congratulations. The older man scratched the back of his head and tried to figure out what had changed in Grimsley. You could not help but feel flustered when he said one word. Your name. The day quickly became one of his favourites. Marriage did not seem so awful now.
♧ Taking time off for a honeymoon felt next to impossible, and he struggled to think of where to go. Being married honestly had changed little in your lives but legal things, yet he felt strange when he thought about you being his spouse. The racing feeling in his chest could only be compared when he was a card away from twenty-one in blackjack. A getaway… But to where? Unova was already quite a tourist spot. He considered Alola but felt it too relaxed for his tastes. Caitlin had suggested Sinnoh, but he wondered what was there of intrigue. Shauntal recommended Kalos, and he felt more inclined. Marshal said that he should just keep focusing on his training. Grimsley opted for Kalos. It was a romantic region, after all.
♤ Lumiose was an exciting city that Grimsley could only think to compare to Castelia... Though, the metro in Kalos left much to be desired when compared to Unova's system. The city did have a romantic allure, and the gambler certainly enjoyed all the time spent with you inside the hotel room. The room was big enough to count as an apartment in some areas of Castelia. Yet, you both wandered the streets of the city, enjoying the many things offered. Food was delicious, and he certainly enjoyed the battle system in place. You could only watch as he got his thrills filled in there. The clothing was beautiful and much to his style. Though, you found yourself being gifted a nice outfit. At some point, you both had ventured out of the city and into Parfum Palace. Grimsley felt engaged by the beauty. Yet, even as he enjoyed everything with you, part of him craved the certain seediness found within areas of Unova. Ultimately, the trip really is a honeymoon with most of the time spent in your hotel room with Grimsely, but there are some vacation moments mixed in.

this is a masterpost for my Rave-n AU for madness combat! information is below the cut cuz theres so much! '^^
what is the Rave-N AU?
its a madcom au where people fight to the beat of music, and what music they use depends on what genre of music they're assigned. basically its just madness combat but if it was a rhythm game lol. the lore is different in many aspects, but in general things play out exactly to how it plays in the canon series.
where did you get the idea?
it originally started at Rave-N Hank (rnank), my hanksona. he was just a standalone hanksona before i decided to expand his universe a bit, and here we are now! rnank is STILL my hanksona btw
what can and cant we do?
well, im very lax with this au, i dont have many restrictions other than to just be mindful of the lore and be respectful of my decisions when it comes to the story and characters, thank you!
oh, btw, do NOT treat these characters like their canon counterparts, treat them like u would treat someone's oc as that is what they are. All canon characters within this au are my ocs.
and yes you can put ur ocs into this, as well as making ocs that are exclusively within the au. the only thing to keep in mind when adding an oc to this universe is that if theyre an official citizen of Nevada, they NEED a spiked collar (employers and higher powers are the only ones who are exempt from this rule), doesnt matter how it looks at all, they just need one!
also yes you can ship characters together (oc x canon is welcome and encouraged!!) idc who u ship with who (maybe i will in the future but rn idc)
if you have any additional questions, feel free to ask in my inbox! ill be more than happy to answer! if i find it important enough, ill update this segment with that question added!
characters
main cast: sanford, deimos, doc, tricky, auditor, sheriff, jeb, and phobos
why isnt hank included? he is my hanksona, he is a completely different guy lol. if you want to get a could reference pic of him, look at his artfight page (sorry if you dont have an artfight acc, ill make a new ref for him soon enough!)
literally everyone else: the machine (redesign needed), the maker, conductor, deliberator, stygian, skinner (redesign needed), the sun, torture, white hank, happy hank (skittles), dr.crackpot
misc: aahw guys, alternate rnaudi design, alternate rnaudi design 2, moon (idk if i should keep her in or not..)
my ocs (not canon btw): yara, 04, charlie, maudi, yara but in a different timeline, bank (old old old hanksona), manager
honorable mentions (other ppls ocs/own rave-n designs): redge, explorer
any characters you want to see in the au? my inbox is always open! :3
random assortment of information abt/relating to the au
rnackpot's odd music taste , how music works during fighting (part 1), why are there 2 keystone fragments?, rambles abt rnaudi (part 1), madcom hc that applies here, polyamory? in my madcom? more likely than you think, rnygian hates rnank but cant do anything abt it :(
that is everything, for now! ill try to update it as things go on! feel free to ask me any questions u have!! thank you for reading!
Have the entire twilight movie in a stamp, as a treat!

hey what brush do you use to draw in digital and traditional (if that doesn't bother you!💦)
No worries! I don't mind. :3 The answer isn't so interesting though ww
I just use the pencil tool in MS Paint & the binary tool in SAI 2. Default settings. Most of my art is done this way. I often sketch in MS Paint, and complete in SAI.
(a few examples)
I find it's easier to work within the simplicity of MS Paint, but I do like SAI's features, and sometimes I need the flexibility of pressure sensitivity to really chip away at my thoughts... I find myself relying on it more recently, as I got into JSHK. Human characters aren't actually my forte, and it takes many passes for me to get something legible... Trying to mimic Aida-sensei's ability to render clothes is also breakin' my back lol.
(just taking you behind the scenes :p)
Oh um ... Hm, I draw in my phone notes more often recently as well, so that's the only other variable at times. If you see something like this:
It's just me using the notes app on my samsung galaxy. I use it to jot down ideas for future me. Or... sometimes I'm just passing time. Nothing special about it, I would say, aside from the fact that it's more robust than the previous phone notes app I would draw on. I was fingerpainting back then, but now I have a stylus.
Edit: Wait I feel like an idiot for saying all this and literally posting a piece I made in CSP... SORRY!! My brain is small. That's what I use to animate as well!! !!! Sorry, I just use it once in a blue moon...
On CSP, the brush I like the most has been this one.
As for traditional, I use an assortment of things! It's a split between mundane art supplies (dollar store mechanical pencils, ball point pens, etc.) and some fancier stuff I've been gifted. Currently I have a set of prismas and a couple of ohuhus I use for commission work often. I also have some faber castell brush pens. I prefer inking pens with a flat tip, basically I disprefer fine points/microns etc. (I... um, have a bit of a harsh grip, so I'm prone to crushing them...) My traditional stuff varies a lot more so I'll just paste examples directly. For fun!
Mechanical pencil!
Sharpie!
Faber castells! (The greys are as well!)
Ball point pen and highlighters!
Crayons!
Woodless color pencil! (+inking pens, pencil...)
Ohuhu markers! (+pencil)
Prismas!
Overall, I like having an assortment of things to grab and mess around with, for different moods. I'll draw on any scrap of paper also (to the burden of my wife, who scans and edits ALL!!!! of my art, lol.) If you're at all seeking for a similar experience, I recommend playing with whatever odds and ends you got in your possession. It's not really a matter of skill... imo, cuz, I don't really feel as though I use anything very 'well', I just use it. Perhaps all equally sloppy, and for fun. Just have fun. ╮(╯▽╰)╭

What, pray tell, do you mean by "Maiph has been to the 'beach' before but it wasn't real and doesn't count"? Mind beach shenanigans? Illusion? Something else?
Hey, thanks for the ask! So the gist of it is that she experienced Cellic's memory of a beach. Full context is, in fact, full, and so will be below the cut.
Context for the context, bullet points edition:
Thaccia has a large assortment of largely unused magic items (Which is actually really odd considering enchantment is not a magic native to the continent, and so stuff like that has to be imported), and while sorting through them one day Maiph found a pair of essentially sending stones and gives one to Cellic so they can talk even when he's gone.
Cellic has visited the beach three times (all as part of the same assignment), but it's been a long time, so his memory is fuzzy.
At the end of act one, Cellic accidentally shatters his sending stone.
About halfway through act two, for plot reasons Cellic and Narra make a pilgrimage to mythological tree that supposedly functions as a panacea, nature's weaponsmith, and ultrawise sage. Basically no one knows where it is or how it works, and how Cellic figured out is a long story that surprisingly enough involves Narra's mother.
Alright so the tree is magic and the vessel for the home of some kind of vaguely celestial being (if I tried to explain the entire cosmo-mythology here this post would be long enough that it could stop a bullet if you printed it out and folded it up). Narra enters and reaches a turning point in her character arc while also resolving a pressing plot problem, and then she leaves. Cellic was mostly just there to escort Narra, but after she leaves the tree remains open (think the tree portal at the end of the Prince Caspian movie) and he feels a gentle tug on his mind telling him to enter. He does so and gets his butt kicked by said vaguely celestial being. This butt-kicking is conducive to his growth as a person. I promise. Anyway afterwards he's given a gemstone that houses a lesser aspect of the celestial being that'll help him "remember what he had once known" (uh now I think about it it's like a spren but without a name and with less personality).
Alright, so how does any of this have to do with Maiph and beaches? Well the gemstone Cellic got is the exact same size as the sending stone he used to have (coincidence? I think not!), and he keeps it on the same place (the back of the gauntlet of his shield hand). He touches it out of habit and it works like a sending stone, and it specifically connects to Maiph's (there is a good explanation for this, but again, would take forever). She answers out of habit and their minds are both transported to a kind of dream realm, only with this stone the dream realm is constructed based off of Cellic's memories of a particular beach. The reasoning for this is that beach is where Cellic had had a conversation with Relpir exemplifying the very traits he'd lost, the very truths he'd forgotten, and so it's where the spirit in the stone chose to put them. Cellic and Maiph and the Spirit of the Brand spend a lot of time there trying to figure out what the issue is. It gets resolved eventually (but it's like a climax moment so no spoilers lol), but until Cellic relives that memory and regains that part of himself that had been broken, the memory of the beach is fuzzy and indistinct, and the sand doesn't shift, it's all one piece like a great mound of stone, and the sea doesn't smell salty, and the wind is stale. It's only an imitation, based off a memory of something better. Just like Cellic's present emotional state.
I feel like it's important to note that this remembrance, despite the emphasis I'm putting on it, is only half of how Cellic grows. Part of the message of his arc is that while where he was was certainly better at the start than the middle, he was still clearly not okay. It's just that he begins by fighting his fatal flaw first, and then rebuilding his virtues on top of that victory. The order is a bit funky, but I think it'll work well enough.
And while I'm making disclaimers, you might also point out that a question about Maiph spent way more time talking about Cellic. This is true for two reasons: 1) Cellic is a protagonist. Maiph exists to further his character just like Radiaten exists to further Narra's and Lutian exists to further Kar's. 2) Maiph has issues. She actually spends the latter half of act I and most of act II specifically pondering who she actually is. She used to be her parents' daughter, then when they died, the healer's apprentice, then when she finished that, Cellic's loosely-defined s/o, but when faced with the increasingly likely possibility that he's dead now too, she has a kind of "what now?" moment and she and Lycoris spend a decent amount of time helping the other understand themselves. She and Cellic still end up a thing, but both of them have much clearer ideas of who they are as people, rather than defining themselves solely by those around them (specifically one another). And here, why not a third reason while I'm at it? 3) Cellic spends a lot of time helping Maiph out too, there's just less murder involved and so it comes up less in discussions of events. It's still there but (just like several other characters who I haven't seen fit to even mention yet) it's not as crucial or attention-grabbing. What shows up here is not perfectly proportional to what happens in the book itself.
So yeah. That's the gist of it.

Thoughts on Emblem Paralogues #1
Doing this again with the base game paralogues cuz as a longtime FE fan it’s cool to see how a celebration game shows its love. I’m not really doing them in the order they unlocked, so this is mostly a random assortment.
For starters I like how for the most part, the throwback maps have pretty much the exact same enemy composition. Very wonderful and nostalgic.
Lucina, The Exalt: This one’s good. It makes for a good start to the overall reference paralogues, cuz of it’s simplicity. Wish I had more to say, but it really is that cut and dry lol. I guess I wish there was more reference to the fact that Lucina traveled back in time to prevent the bad future, but I guess that’s what bond conversations are for.
Lyn, The Lady of the Plains: I had lots of fun with this one haha, though I guess it’s cuz I was a tad overleveled when I did it. I heard the OG map in FE6 was very hated, or at least the Sacae route was disliked a lot in comparison to the Ilia one. I read that the original version had fake-out thrones that spawned reinforcements, so I would think that’d piss first time players off. The one thing that I’m kind of iffy on though is just the decision of using this map for Lyn. I know FE7 doesn’t have notable Sacae maps to choose from (I think the first 3 chapters of Lyn’s mode are the only ones, which would suck as throwbacks lol), and that her association with Mulagir thanks to FEH means it’s appropriate to choose this map in particular, but I think chapter 10 or 15 from FE7 could’ve served as good rep maps for her. It’d let her discuss her mixed heritage and connection to Eliwood and Hector, I feel. Oh well, not too fussed about it, since I do love when Lyn talks about Sacae.
Ike, The Radiant Hero: This one’s great. Ike destroying the entire castle was fucking hilarious, and I think it’s a perfect choice for his paralogue given it’s when he first took leadership of the Greil Mercs and had to establish himself as a fighter and protector who can hold out against terrible odds. Though a complaint on that front is that I wish there was some kind of defense-like objective, even though like I said, Ike one shotting a whole castle is funny. Shout-out to the mage in the same place as Ilyana and drops Elthunder, neat reference.
Byleth, The Instructor: Very much liked this one, aside from one aspect: healers with warp aspects (lol plot teleporting in 3H). Byleth’s dancing I can handle, but damn my OCD ridden brain hated beating the map without protecting all the crystals. Though I think I got the best reward anyway, it’s very lenient. Liked the House Leader stand-ins, but surprise surprise, there’s nobody representing Rhea, Seteth, or Flayn despite this being the tomb of their brethren :/ It’s also again indicative of how averse the devs are of associating Byleth with anything beyond being a teacher, cuz one could argue that chapter 10 could’ve been a better choice and still had the “power depends on the heart of its wielder” aesop cuz it dealt with Jeralt’s death and Byleth being granted Sothis’ power in the first place. But whatever, details, details.
Sigurd, The Holy Knight: My favorite of the ones I’ve done so far. I think it’s a great way to represent Sigurd through a Gen 2 map and it gave a fair challenge. The Arvis stand-in with Meteor is hilarious. I really, really regret not getting the goddess icon from the tile that references Seliph’s talk with ghost Sigurd and Deirdre, that little easter egg is so fucking cute 😭 Sigurd’s talk about revenge and there being more than one truth shows just how great of a character he is (and his significance in Engage kind of points to more evidence that FE4 is probs getting remade soon). But the coolest part of the map are the Julius and Ishtar stand-ins. It took all of my brain power to take them out without anyone dying, but I did it! Using the Tiki bracelet came in clutch, cuz even if an attack like Ice Breath misses, it still damages adjacent enemies for the calculated damage. Widdling away at Julius was very satisfying.
I’ll do the rest of the paralogues some time, trust lol.

SVSSS princess tutu au, you say? O.O
Okay, buckle up, for here is my Princess Tutu (non-ballet) AU for Scum Villain Self-Saving System. Featuring:
The System as Drosselmeyer
Shang Qinghua as the knight/writer
Luo Binghe as the Prince
Shen Yuan as Princess Tutu
Shen Jiu as Princess Kraehe
Tianlang-Jun as the Raven
Assorted PIDW cast as displaced locals
Please note: this au is more in the sprit of Princess Tutu than the actual setting, and character correlations are not 1 to 1. This is bc I couldn't imagine any of these characters doing ballet. I deeply apologize 😔. Also this story is kinda sj/lbh/sy/sqh/mbj OTmore endgame.
Shang Qinghua is the hero of this story. He is a down-on-his-luck stallion novelist in modern day China just trying to make a living when the System decides to take a shine to him and his novel, converging the real world with PIDW at the point where Sqq stabs Binghe in the chest and throws him into the abyss.
What happens is this: When Sqq stabs Binghe, his heart splits into pieces and these pieces become lost and scattered across the two worlds, which are rapidly merging into one (much to the detriment of modern day civilians, who kind of don't really notice that the world isn't how it used to be, but are also woefully equipped to deal with demons and cultivators). Binghe is stuck in the abyss, but it's more of a metaphor in this odd liminal space between worlds. The abyss is his mind, his lack of feeling. He drifts along largely unaware of the motions of the System's overarching plot.
Shen Yuan is tasked by the System with finding Luo Binghe's heart shards. It's quite a shock to him to find the characters from his favorite least favorite novel crawling off the pages of the book (or off the pages of his e-reader i suppose), but he loves cares about Luo Binghe's wellbeing, and takes to the task to the best of his abilities, unaware that he is being manipulated into a tragedy.
Shen Jiu is not in control of his own destiny. His role in the story is stop Shen Yuan from giving Luo Binghe's heart back, presumably because, when Luo Binghe is whole again, he will take revenge against his Shizun. Meanwhile, Tianlang-jun has offered his protection if Shen Jiu brings him all of Binghe's heart and helps him conquer both worlds. If Tianlang-jun eats Binghe's heart and takes his body, he will become strong enough to do this (much to his disgust, bc he is, after all, more handsome than Lbh lol). Shen Jiu is also manipulated by the System, but moreso, he lacks agency because of Shang Qinghua's shitty writing, which left him with a dearth of character motivation.
The thing is though....The System only has as much control as an author gives it. It hates unfinished, unsatisfactory stories and can only manipulate stories with these features. But this is Shang Qinghua's story, dammit, and he'll give the System the best, most satisfactory story conclusion the world has ever seen, and save his city and all his characters while he's at it! The only trouble is, Sqh hasn't felt like writing in months. These plotlines he once felt so passionate about got away from him years ago. He's not sure he could resolve half of the character arcs even if he tried due to how much he cannibalized his own canon. This author just wants to sleep and eat cup ramen and find a new job. He thought he was done with this mess....
Also, random side note, Mobei-jun just shows up on a random train somewhere and decides to roll with it. He spends half this story terrorizing locals on an extended vacation from demon politics.

I was trying to tell a friend once about how I can handle scary films but not true crime and they got judgy to me about it, but it's a sensitive topic to me and hard to explain the difference
your friend shouldn't have been judgmental to you about what you find upsetting or your own boundaries, i'm sorry they reacted unkindly like that. there's nothing wrong with not being able to handle certain topics/media and asserting your limits is actually a good and healthily protective thing!
so, from my experience, a difficulty i have is the difference in suspension of disbelief. when we're watching a scary movie, there's always an awareness that it's fiction - and this has even been studied, that being afraid within complete safety, where you can switch it off, turn the lights on, have the knowledge that it's not real, can be healthy in working through fear. and i'm still pretty careful with what i can and can't handle because i am SO sensitive and prone to anxiety/intrusive thoughts/nightmares. i was a very sheltered/innocent, soft-hearted/emotional child, and to this day as a spinster lady a lot of that holds true because it's my natural disposition. that said, i also leaned into eerie aesthetics and spookiness (also see: previously discussed odd happenings we experienced irl) and gothic romanticism and classical horror novels/film (which isn't quite the same as more graphic modern horror), and continue to enjoy that. as is evident here at spooky season!
i was exposed to a lot of horror when i was a teen because my ex-best friend was obsessed (the two of us watched countless horror movies and musicals lmao that tells you a lot), so it upped my threshold for a while, but it's shifted back down to cautious sensitivity over the years. (which i realize sounds counterintuitive due to a bunch of my favorite shows that i post on here having horror genre roots lol, let's not unpack that. movies tend to affect me differently because it can be a lot of intensely upsetting content packed into a short time, whereas with a show you build a sense of familiarity/connectivity/comfort because you get to know the characters so well, which for me, makes it more about them and their stories than it does the sense of fear.) i especially struggle to handle media with any animal ab*se or tort*re p*rn or most s/a, and that's my responsibility to gauge.
anyway, when i'm watching, say, a slasher film, i know that's not real, and every actor was fine and went home safely. when i'm watching vampires, i know they're not real (and i was terrified of them when i was little! ghosts and i were mostly cool, vampires were the proverbial monster in my closet, my initial interest in them was a facet of trying to conquer that fear). or when i'm watching, to call myself out on something i've written/thought a lot about/been invested in, dexter, there's an element of fantasy. dex is a serial killer, but also an antihero and essentially a vigilante, taking out far worse people. there's a vicarious sense of satisfaction in that, because psychologically some part of us wishes we could stop bad people from doing bad things. (and of course the tragedy from his trauma and his actions becomes inability to keep his loved ones safe from that darkness and violence bleeding into his life.) i've certainly seen my fair share of crime procedurals too (bones! castle when it was good! and so on), and i've read mysteries my whole life, starting with nancy drew and sherlock holmes, then agatha christie, etc, and grew up watching mysteries with my mom too (adaptations of all the aforementioned. the thin man and assorted film noir and hitchcock. remington steele, my formative beloved!). there are also, notably, solutions in fiction - mysteries are solved, spirits are exorcised, monsters are stopped, masks are removed, the sun comes out again (most of the time). we accept final girls as victorious survivors. we know what the themes and symbolisms are, we expect some sense of catharsis.
but with true crime...it's a lot more complicated. my suspension of disbelief evaporates because i know, while the actors may be okay, the very real living beings involved are not. it always leaves me with this scratchy feeling of that darkness, like residue that clings. (and it's not like i never watch it - i watched candy earlier this year, because the case is almost bewildering and i wanted to see how they handled it, and i like several of the actors; i watched like half of under the banner of heaven, which was very unsettling. i don't tend to do the real serial killer thing because it's typically too gruesome and inhumane for me. fiction has been the only place i can stand that topic being tackled.) obviously, that's going to be different for every person, and like i said previously, it's very complex in handling those stories with respect and appropriate care for victims and not sensationalism of the perpetrator or exploitation of events. when something is done in a way that feels wrong or damaging, we're certainly allowed to acknowledge and push back against that. it gets really tricky and difficult, that line of freedom in art not crossing into traumatization, and i don't know what the solution for that is, if there even is one. ultimately all we can do is make the choices that feel right for us as far as choosing to engage or not, knowing what will be detrimental to our mental health, and keeping the realities in mind when necessary. it IS a sensitive topic, and you are always allowed to say no, to avoid things, and to put yourself first.

what's in their purse??
Saw a prompt that uses settings to describe a character's personality, and I thought it looked like a fun warm-up! So I set a timer for five minutes (plus editing lol) and here's the result:
Blossom: Blossom's purse has always been practical. She needs a purse only for the purpose of having a purse. She doesn't like loud patterns or obnoxious colors. Generally, she prefers nude or black fabrics, typically of the leather variety. All the purses she has ever bought have an across-the-shoulder strap for ease and are large enough to fit her laptop and planner.
Outwardly, they're all professional and sleek. On the inside, though, Blossom's purses are bursting with colors. Pinks, pastels, and the occasional blue pen, Blossom's purses are filled with all the necessary office supplies. She always carries her hourly planner, laptop and charger, notebook, her cellphone with the cute fluffy charm attached to it, an assortment of pens, her glittery pink wallet, and, of course, a portable hairbrush with too many ponytails and scrunchies wrapped around the handle.
Everything in her purse has a place with no stray receipt in sight; just how she likes it!
Bubbles: Bubbles' purse collection has no cohesive style or pattern besides cute and girly. Sometimes they take the shape of backpacks; other times, they're clutches. If a purse at the mall has caught her eye for longer than five seconds, it's usually hers by the time she leaves. She has purses that look like puppies or frogs and some that remind her sisters of disco balls. The funnier and quirkier the purse is, the more she enjoys it.
Beyond her wallet--which generally matches whatever purse she chooses for the day--Bubbles doesn't use her purse for many practical reasons. She makes sure to throw in her keys, but for the most part, the interior of her purse is filled with makeup bags and stray chapstick. And trash. She's messy. She holds onto receipts and has a rather large collection of possibly-used gift cards that she doesn't quite remember ever using.
No matter how big or small her purse is, however, the bulk of the space is dedicated to holding whatever odd knick-knack or sparkly rock she finds and gets her hands on. For artistic reasons, of course.
Buttercup: It's not that Buttercup dislikes purses; it's just that she forgets they exist. She has one or, at least, she thinks she has one, somewhere buried in her side of the bedroom--maybe in the back of the closest? She knows it was a small black thing, but that's about as much as she can remember.
Buttercup prefers to carry only what she can fit in her pockets. It's the bare minimum with her. She takes her phone, keys, and a small wallet that doubles as her phone case. Sometimes she has gum. She doesn't like the hassle of carrying too much, but if she's going somewhere, like the gym or on a hike, she packs her old drawstring bag.
Again, only the bare minimum necessities are placed in it, but she may throw in some sunblock or an extra water bottle depending on the situation. Maybe some bandages. And, definitely, a snack.
-----
This was fun! If I had given myself more time, I would have included a sketch pad for Bubbles, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of her never having one on hand when she needs it. I think it would be funnier if she's scrambling to sketch her ideas on old napkins or flyers instead and fusing over dead pens.
#writing exercises#character warm-ups#five minutes is not a lot of time#i forgot to add that they all have sunglasses somewhere#oh well lol#hopefully their personalities come across! I think so!#I'm a good mix of Blossom and Bubbles#only stuff i need to make it through the day#but very very messy lmao

I’m a sucker for those Injustice games but one thing that will always drive me nuts is how they wanted really badly to have Waylon in Injustice 2 but literally said, “We already have the Ninja Turtles, so it might be redundant.” And I’m just sitting here like, “You motherfuckers...”
The good news is that means his odds of being in the third game are really high. And I’d be hella stoked to see Waylon turn up in a fighting game like Injustice because it means you’d probably get to play with a whole assortment of different cosmetics with the way Netherrealm handles the gear now. Shit like different pants, shirts (tho I’d go shirtless for my scaly boi and hope he’s got some chonk to him like he did in the second game as a background transition) or maybe even different heads.
What’s crazier is Waylon is already in Injustice mobile and has a special takedown move like every other character where he drags them underwater, noms them and throws them back into the air for a smash. It was the same shit they did with Deadshot when he was only a mobile character and got added to Injustice 2, they kept his mobile special. So a lot of the moves are already there.
But one of the biggest reasons I’d wanna see Waylon in Injustice 3 specifically is for all the dialogue he’d have for the intros and clashes and his opening animations. In fact, fuck it, for the lols, I’m gonna write some of that shit right now in another post because I’m a huge fighting game nerd.

Fix this shit!!!! Part 10
Wassup people of Tumblr??!!!! I am back with another round of “Fix this shit!!” for the HBO War Fandom!! I would have uploaded sooner but school took up alot of time and graduation was yesterday (YES I OFFICIALLY HAVE MY HISTORY DEGREE!!!!). Please feel free to enjoy this cauldron of weird with more to come down the road (lol)
Summary: How much more crap can the guys find in the walls of the crackhouse?? We’re about to find out
“Ight so are we knockin’ out the windows yet or what?” Guarnere asked. “I’ve got alot of stress buildin’ up and I need to hit something.....like really bad.”
“You’ll have plenty of time for that,” Brad told him. “Besides, I think Ray went with the other boneheads to order the new ones.”
“Good,” Bill said. “Cause I’m not waitin’ for two and a half hours at Home Creepo to get my order in.”
Bill and Brad began unscrewing the screws that held the windows in place, the dumpster below ready to catch the debris as it fell. With the prybars in hand, they began to tear up the molding around the windows, the wood cracking, creaking and snapping as it came loose. They tossed it right out the windows and into the long, rust red dumpster below, glad to be rid of one more little shred of that infernal dumpster fire of a house.
“Screws out?” Bill asked once he heard the last screw hit the floor.
“Yep, all good,” Brad informed him.
With the long prybars, the two began knocking out the damaged windows, taking out all their stress and frustration of that semester on the water damaged mess of wood and metal.
The whacking echoed all throughout the house and into every possible corner, even as Bill cranked up the radio. A few more good whacks with the ball-peen hammers and the dirty windows fell away into the dumpster below.
“Shit,” Brad muttered when he looked into the spaces. “Um.....hey Bill?”
“What?”
“I think there’s something in here but I’m not sure what it is,” Brad explained.
Guarnere made his way over and sure enough there was something stuck in between the spaces. “How the fuck did this get in here?” he asked.
Though neither of them knew, they were eagar to find out. Brad reached in, his hands still safe inside his work gloves, and tugged a bit at the metal handle that dangled from the space. He wriggled it around, trying desperately to get it loose until it gave way and fell to the floor below, the lock snapping and the lid popping open, revealing the contents within.
“Jeez, creepy fuckin lunchbox they’ve got there,” Guarnere remarked.
Brad was stunned, even as he tried not to laugh at what had been written on the little plastic boxes containing cassette tapes. “Well I guess we know now what some people were into when they lived here,” he chuckled.
Guarnere took a close look at the cassette tapes himself. Scrawled on the covers were an odd assortment of titles, titles that read, “talking to aliens”, “hoebagz” or others that were so insane and outlandish that the two had become curious to see what was on them.
“Do we dare get the cassette player out of Ray’s basement later?” Brad asked him.
“I don’t see why not,” Bill replied.
****************
“Is this for real?” Leckie asked.
Brad nodded.
All of them had gathered on the porch with their dinners, intently listening to the tapes and trying not to choke from laughing too hard. They had been listening for over an hour to each one, all of them in disbelief at what they were hearing. It sounded like an odd assortment of incomprehensible speech and what sounded like laughter, laughter that reminded them of a familiar weiner-headed cartoon character.
“And you found this shit in the wall?” Nate asked him.
Brad and Bill nodded.
“I’m kinda curious myself,” Garza said, picking up one of the tapes from the lunchbox. “What do you think’s on the one labeled Alien Asshats?”
“I don’t think I wanna know,” Leckie chuckled.

31, 32 and 35!!
𝑬𝑿𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑪𝑬 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑺𝑬𝑳𝑭 . ( a collection of 40 questions for muns , with assorted questions directed towards both single - muse & multi - muse blogs! ) ;; accepting!
∗ 31﹕ what hobbies do you have outside of roleplaying ?
I practice MMA twice a week! It’s. basically my one form of exercise but whatever its fun lol. I also draw and lately been getting into playing splatoon a little more seriously these days!
∗ 32﹕ what were the last three songs you listened to ?
Uhh excluding some LN theme remixes rn for background noise, it’s Welcome to the Internet by Bo Burnham, Oh Yeah You Gonna Cry? by Lovejoy, and It’s Cool by First in Flight (in order of most to least recent)
∗ 35﹕ is there a character you consistently have muse for ?
That’s! A tough question actually. The nature of how my muses work is they’re always getting shuffled around, both with each other and by my drive to write in the first place. I don’t think I can really say there’s one whose always around, but there are a few who are the most reliable. Those being the og NES Link, a few Sky ocs, Mono maybe, Shadow Link, possibly BOTW Link, and an oc Link! However special shoutout goes to an odd collection of muses I have who are this weird grey area of never really wanting to be written but are also super easy for me to whip out literally almost whenever.

Entangled (Spencer Reid x femReader)
Summary: You don’t know how it happened. One moment you were watching Criminal Minds, and the next moment you were literally in the show. Can Spencer be the key to helping you find your way back home?
Warnings: minor character death, mentions of su*cide, bad explanations of quantum mechanics, sexual situations, the usual criminal minds-type content
A/N: wow I’ve been on this site for ages, nearly as long as Criminal Minds was on air, lol, but this is my first fic posted here. I plan to make this one into a few parts if people like it. If this has any relation to other fics it’s not intended. Literally just an idea that popped in my brain. I’ll also eventually add it to my wattpad .@ kittentastic
Word Count: 3,119
Chapter 1. Chapter 2. Chapter 3. Chapter 4. Chapter 5. Chapter 6. Chapter 7. Chapter 8. Chapter 9. Chapter 10. Chapter 11.
It was an average, lonely, autumn night. Halloween was nearing and you didn't have anywhere to be. Long estranged from the people you once called family, and friends, you were starting a new life in L.A.
Yeah, you were one of those small-town girls with big-city dreams. You wanted to be an actress, a dream your father had once encouraged. When he suddenly died, you had nothing left but a new step-mother who discouraged your dreams and was more than happy to disown you when you reached 18 years of age; a classic Cinderella story.
It had taken a while, getting yourself through university and saving up enough money to move out to L.A. Now you were 27 and living your dreams...partly. You worked at a coffee shop in Hollywood; a great way to meet people that could potentially cast you in a big production, but that plan had yet to come to fruition. Every audition would have someone else in mind for the part.
Today, you had finished yet another round of auditions for everything from small commercial bits to tv shows. You poured yourself a glass of red wine after finishing your microwavable meal-for-one dinner. Wine would always be your go-to drink after your dissappointing days, it was great at helping you sleep. You clicked on the tv and sipped your drink from your criss-crossed sitting position and soon found a Criminal Minds marathon that was just starting. It almost seemed like fate as tomorrow you had an audition lined up for the very same show.
You smiled as the bright, happy, Penelope Garcia came into the shot, followed by the rest of the BAU. You absentmindedly bit your lip as Dr. Spencer Reid came into frame.
Like a large percentage of the show's viewership, you found the handsome genius slipping into one or two of your fantasies. You may have daydreamed about the Dr. being a real person and walking into your workplace to order coffee and whisk you off your feet. You may have also woken up from a few dreams involving the handcuffs he was currently restraining an unsub with.
You wondered if you would get the part. Would it be odd having to pretend this dream-man was real? You'd hope you could contain your blushing around Matthew at least.
You finished your drink and stretched out on the couch, already feeling your eyes growing heavy. You found your mind wandering as you grew more and more tired, hardly paying attention to the episode. The last thought you had before you drifted off was, "what if Spencer Reid was a real person?"
Bright lights of assorted colors and shapes danced behind your tired eyes. You felt a tugging sensation that seemed to pull you from your core. It felt warm and safe, like it wanted to protect you. A hum grew louder and louder in your ear canal, followed by a crackling wind. It was like an electric storm. The smell of coffee and a woodsy vanilla filled whatever place you were in. It was odd, you knew this, but you weren't scared. Something told you this was right. Your body began to rise higher and higher until a loud snap echoed around you, shattering your surroundings.
"Whoa, sleeping on the job now Y/N? Did someone tire you out last night?" A woman's voice broke through the fog as your mind caught up with you.
Wait, am I still dreaming? That voice...it sounds like...
"Pretty Boy, you wanna check her for a pulse?"
And that is definitely...
"I-I don't think that's necessary."
You slowly lifted your head and opened your eyes wide. Your blurred vision slowly grew used to the bright indoor lighting. Your eyes widened as you saw none other than JJ, Morgan, and Reid. Yes, the fictional characters were standing in front of you.
How was this even possible? You had to be dreaming, or maybe you were forgetting and you were at a very strange audition. Yes, that had to be it, logically.
"Good morning Sleeping Beauty. Rough night? I didn't think Reid's Doctor Who nights were that wild, I might have to tag along and chaperone you two next time." Morgan greeted with a teasing smirk.
"How late did you two go for last night?" JJ asked, leaning against the desk that you had been sleeping on, and sipping her coffee.
She directed the question to you, but you didn't remember this dialogue in the audition script. When you didn't answer, Spencer spoke up.
"She texted me when she got home safe at 9:43pm. I made sure she left early as the rain was starting up. Now, of course, she could have stayed up longer, but we continued to exchange texts until she texted me goodnight at 10:15pm."
"Goodnight texts? Remind me and JJ here why you two aren't dating again?" Morgan crossed his arms looking between you and Spencer.
You blinked, taking a chance to finally look around. There were no cameras in sight. Above you was a tiled ceiling with office lighting. No directors or normal-looking crew members were around.
"Matthew?" You asked, directing your question to a stuttering, red-faced Reid.
Everyone turned their attention back to you. Reid, or Matthew, raised his eyebrow at you. And turned to look if anyone was standing behind him that you could be talking to.
"Who is Matthew, Y/N?" He asks, cautiously.
Oh my god. I must be dreaming.
You stood up and slowly reached out to Reid, who was standing closest to you. You gently poked his cheek. He looked almost afraid at your actions.
"Spencer?" You lower your shaky hand. He felt real, he was standing in front of you. You could smell his morning coffee.
"Yeah?"
"Pinch me."
"What? Why?"
"So I know that I'm not dreaming." You could feel his eyes prodding you, profiling.
"Maybe we should get you to a doctor-"
You grabbed his wrist and placed his hand on your upper arm.
"Pinch me. Hard."
Spencer winced as he did what you asked of him. He obviously did not want to hurt you. You felt your nerves fire off in pulses of pain where he pinched. You sharply inhaled and he immediately dropped his hand.
"Oh my god," you stammered, "ohmygodohmygodohmygod."
This is real. Spencer Reid is real.
You slid back down in your chair and looked at an open mouthed JJ and Morgan, staring at you in shock.
"What kind of kinky shit are you two into?" Morgan narrowed his eyes at Reid.
"This is no time for teasing Derek. I think she's suffering from a concussion." JJ reached out, concerned, feeling your forehead for a fever.
"She doesn't have any visible signs of bruising. Y/N do you remember hitting your head on anything, or experiencing whiplash today?" Reid, growing serious turned your chair towards him, raking his fingers through your hair to check your scalp for any tender spots.
For a moment you had to stop yourself from sighing, it just felt nice, and it was Spencer.
"No I'm-I'm fine, my head feels fine." You answered.
"What's the last thing you remember doing?"
You bit your lip, should you answer him truthfully? How would you even explain something so illogical.
"I-I remember. I fell asleep on the couch watching tv." In a different reality.
"Do you think it's possible you rolled off of the couch in your sleep?"
You frowned to yourself.
"It's possible."
It's never happened before, but you suppose it would explain things. This was definitely a hallucination. Maybe it was one of those Spencer-centric dreams.
"Spence, I think you should take Y/N to the hospital. I'll cover for you with Hotch." JJ suggested.
Spencer nodded in agreement while Morgan looked worriedly at you. JJ got up from the desk to seek out Hotch in his office.
"Do you have your keys?" Spencer asked, still looking you over.
"Um-" you checked your pockets and sure enough found a ring of keys in your pants pocket. You dropped them into Spencer's outstretched hand.
"Can you walk?" Spencer's voice went softer.
You shivered as you did whenever you heard that tone on the show. He could make a living doing ASMR with that voice.
You stood with Spencer's unneeded, but much appreciated, help. He seemed to have no problem holding your hands to help you, something you considered to be out of character for the germaphobic Dr. Reid. Then again, the show did not go this long without it's occasional inconsistencies. Was your subconscious hallucination really thinking these things out?
You followed him to the elevator with ease, taking in your surroundings as you went. As the elevator doors closed, Spencer frowned at you once again.
"Your pupils have been dilated since you woke up." He spoke.
Yeah probably because the attractive genius I've been dreaming of for years is vividly realistic and talking to me.
"Is that a sign of head trauma?"
"Actually yes, you could be experiencing a sensitivity to light as a result of your head trauma. If that's the case, then you're in luck because it's been raining all day."
You followed Spencer out to your car, or at least you thought it was your car. You didn't exactly own one before dropping into this hallucination world. You were saving up for one, but didn't really need it as you lived close to your job and took public transit when you needed to go further distances. This car was nice, you supposed the dream BAU job payed well.
Spencer drove you to the hospital and waited in the waiting room as you received a full check up and MRI. You hoped he wasn't too bored waiting. As the doctor returned with your results you asked if Spencer could come in to hear the diagnosis. The doctor asked if he was family and you lied saying he was your fiancé. The doctor really didn't seem to care and Spencer was allowed in. He looked confident, prepared to discuss anything scientific that you may not understand yourself.
"Well Y/N, after reviewing your MRI scans and testing results, I can confidently assure you that you are perfectly healthy. We can order some blood tests for you if you wish, but from the concussion symptoms you thought you had, and from the results I have in front of me, I don't believe they are necessary." The doctor said with a smile, probably just happy to be delivering some good news.
"That can't be right." You shook your head and frowned.
"Y/N was clearly exhibiting fatigue, light sensitivity, memory loss, and confusion at work. If she's not concussed, what is wrong with her?" Spencer asked.
"I'd say your fiancé is simply experiencing the effects of exhaustion and a lack of sleep. My advice? Take her home and let her rest."
Spencer firmly shut his mouth as the doctor said "fiancé."
The doctor turned to you. "If you'd like, I can perscribe you a sleeping sedative."
You shook your head "no." You couldn't believe it; you'd slept at a reasonable hour, and you didn't feel fatigued.
Everything was starting to feel so real. The warmth of Spencer sitting so close to you felt real. The rain that fell on your skin felt real. The medicinal scent of the hospital made your feel sick. You could only think of one final way to try to wake up.
"Spencer can you stop somewhere for me?" You asked as he drove you home.
"Sure."
"Is there a lake near by?"
"Yeah...you don't remember? You've jogged on the trails near it with JJ and Morgan."
"Can you take me there? There's something I need to do."
You were beginning to grow used to the worried look on his face. The way his eyes softened reminded you of a puppy.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to you. If this was a dream concocted by your brain, wouldn't Spencer be a bit more romantic? In your dreams he could range from a hardcore, post-prison, genius, bad boy to a nerdy romantic, but he was always, obviously, interested in you right away. This Spencer seemed to be your friend, just your friend. By now he would've usually confessed his undying love and maybe taken you in the back seat of your car. Yeah, you weren't the most creative person. What kind of dream was this?
You felt a blush coming on as Spencer side-eyed you. Your brain would never torture you with a long-con, would it?
Spencer took you to the lake, walking beside you without a word, most likely thinking you were going crazy and in need of sleep. You walked to the edge of the trail and looked down at the lake. It was a ways down, the point you were standing was more like a cliff. You determined that the water must have been about a 6 second drop down for someone your size
"Y/N, why did you want me to take you out here?" Spencer asked as he eyed the waters below.
You stayed silent as you took a few steps back. You took a deep breath, and before you could second-guess yourself, you ran to the edge of the cliff and jumped.
"Y/N!" Was the last, panicked thing you heard before the body of water came rushing towards you.
Your body submerged in the icy cold water and sunk deep down from the speed at which you fell. All you could hear was the echoing pressure of the water against your eardrums. This was your last resort. You knew if anything could wake you up, it would be this, your biggest fear.
Your father had drowned, he worked on a fisherman's boat and a storm had overturned the ship far out in the ocean. All that had been recovered was assorted pieces of the ship's wreckage. You'd never even had the chance to learn how to swim as the fear had already settled in before your step-mother could arrange lessons.
If you could drown in this confusing dream-world, maybe you would wake up in time for your Criminal Minds audition.
Your lungs protested as you let yourself sink. You closed your eyes and let your muscles relax. Your head screamed at you, telling you that you absolutely should not be doing this. Fear prickled at your skin. Why did this feel like you were actually dying?
A heartbeat later, you heard the water's surface explode above you, but you didn't have the strength to look up. Your brain processed something wrapping around you and tugging you up, but you could not open your eyes to see what it was. You held on to your last bit of consciousness as you breeched the surface of the water and felt the chilly air assault your skin.
Arms pulled you somewhere. Your body was dragged up something solid, the backs of your legs scraped against rocks. It must have been land. Hands applied pressure, pushing like a heartbeat against your center, you could hardly feel it. A hand held your mouth open while another pinched your nose closed. Lips pushed, rushed, against your own as air was forced back into you. The hand left your mouth and returned to pumping.
"Come on. Come back to me Y/N. Please." Pleading followed by more air.
The strange entity repeated the process once more before you felt everything come up, forcing you back to reality.
You coughed and choked up water and bile; the rain washed it all away. Your lungs were aching and your skin was ice cold. The only warmth was what lingered from the person's lips. A hand pat and rubbed your back, helping you cough up everything. When it was all over your whole body was shivering. Your muscles gave out and a pair of arms wrapped around you, holding you up.
"Y/N."
You weakly turned your head.
Spencer. He's still here. He's really here.
He was soaked, hair ringlets stuck to his face, and his eyes were rimmed red. He looked like an angel, hand carved by Michelangelo himself.
Your brain was trying to catch up with his words.
"Y/N, I need to get you back to the car before we both go into hypothermia. Can you walk?" He asked through chattering teeth.
Your throat was killing you, so you opted for just shaking your head "no" in response.
"I'll have to carry you then, okay?"
You nodded, doubtful he could, especially in his weakened state.
He stood, grabbing his bearings before scooping you up. You weakly held his neck and lay your head on his shoulder. Your pain was numbed, you knew, from the biting cold.
Spencer managed to carry you all the way back to the car, placing you gently in the backseat and turning the heat all the way up. He climbed in the backseat with you and began to remove his jacket and tie.
"We have to remove our clothes, they're soaking wet and we have to warm up. Do you need me to help you undress?" There was no hint of teasing or slyness in Spencer's voice. He was completely serious and you knew he was right.
"I-I can't. Everything is numb." You managed to croak out, wincing at the pain it brought your throat.
"Alright, um- I'll only remove your shirt and pants."
You nodded, weakly.
Spencer removed his own shirt before carefully lifting yours over your head. He made sure to keep his eyes on your face as much as possible and not linger his gaze anywhere else. Next he removed your shoes, socks, and peeled your pants down your legs. You managed to arch your back slightly to help him. Lastly, he removed his own pants and threw all the clothes in a pile on the floor of you car.
"I'm going to hold you now, if that's alright. We need each other's body heat." Spencer looked less confident now. You managed to nod a "yes."
If you weren't so close to death, you knew your brain would be shorting out at the thought of being held by a half-naked, and very real, Spencer Reid.
He helped you lay down across the seats and settled in next to you. He wrapped his arms around you and rubbed his hands along your shoulders and back in an effort to warm you and massage your tensed muscles.
A few minutes of this went by before you could finally move. You wrapped your arms around Spencer, holding him close as his body warmed your own, and you cried against his chest.
One thought repeated over and over again in your head.
This is real.
You worked for the BAU and Spencer Reid had just saved your life.

hello hello love your blog aa! wondering about fav dostoyevsky books and characters and WHYY do you you like them!! thank you <3
Aaaaegdhrg This message threw me down into a rabbit hole of thoughts... Anyway thank you 🙈🙈 I’m glad u enjoy this… assortment of…. Posts… And thanks for the question
This is such a difficult question because you put it in the plural. I can easily say my favorite book of his, singular, is The Brothers Karamazov, just because it’s the one I’ve reread the most, the one I think about the most, the scenes are both more memorable and more touching to me. The other novels I think I like equally? (Though IDK if I’ll ever find myself wanting to reread the Demons)
This is how I can best explain my personal feelings about how these novels compare to each other:
I haven’t read either the Demons or Crime&P in a while, though, so I’m relying entirely on memory here! But also with the addendum that none of these works are really dry, structured or un-gutsy: I have only read the Demons once, but I occasionally reread the looooong scene with Maria Ignatievna giving birth because I think it’s so genuinely touching?? I even made my wife read it completely out of context lmao 😬 So, number one favorite thing about Dosto in general is that I think there’s a lot of guts in it, a lot of the author letting the characters take the story, and that’s why we get pages and pages of monologue, because all of these characters are to the point of bursting. We meet them when they’re so ripe that just poking a little too hard breaks the skin. I had a friend who told me once she was annoyed by how hysterical Dosto’s female characters were in The Brothers Karamazov: that struck me as odd, because I think all his characters of all genders are hysterical at all times. Those are never books about sane people doing sane things in a sane way. Which ofc I love :)
I don’t have the vocabulary to talk about this in English, but I’m constantly thinking about what is the ideal amount of control an artist ought to have over their own work. I love this topic and I can talk about it for days; it’s the thing that comes trickling through the craft that I think is fascinating and that makes an artwork truly brilliant; it’s something about the momentary ego death that being very invested in the crafting of a work brings sometimes, and how that creates a work that is able to reproduce that momentary ego death on the perceiver as well… I have said this before, but I much much much rather prefer works that are messy or have execution problems, but where you can see the artist truly let themselves go, let the characters and story develop as if alive. That’s what I mean when I say the work has “guts”. I hate moral tales lol.
In that sense, I think my ‘spectrum’ illustration makes sense to me because the Idiot truly was, according to the man himself, an experimental work where he did not plan the ending beforehand and just gave the characters free reign to go bonkers, and that’s why the last chapter is literally nightmare fuel… the Demons, by contrast, has a more organized structure and you can see the author knew exactly where he wanted to arrive (and it also ends with nightmare fuel…). But even when he’s planning and designing, he’s too good to break his own story, shove his hand inside the narrative and artificially relocate the pieces in order to better suit his conscience, so it always stays in the realm of allegory and never decays into metaphor :D I also like how he sets a scene, and I don’t think it’s by accident that when I talk about these books, I immediately recall it in terms of scenes more than in terms of themes or characters. That’s not necessarily how I function with novels in general, so that’s also something I appreciate in his works.
One thing I really like and that I feel a little shy to talk about, due to not having the vocabulary to do it very well, is how many relationships he depicts where one part (normally the man) adores the other (normally the woman) to the point of self-degradation; a love that creates a worshipful distance that, ultimately, is exactly what destroys the relationship… in the Idiot, for example, Nastasya doesn’t want a master and doesn’t want a slave, but the men she loves and who love her can’t really offer anything else. Same with Dmitri and Grushenka and Katya and Ivan, same with Alyosha and whatever is it he has with Lise, in that he puts himself too differently human from her to be properly loved; in fact I think the reason the main couple of Crime and Punishment work is because they wrestle with this a bit, but Rodka believes in redemption, and his story with Sofia is a story of becoming, together… sorry wait this makes me really emotional 🤧
For the novellas and shorter books… I haven’t read most of them but I did have more fun with the bleaker ones… Notes from the Underground is simply too good, I remember calling my friend to read him entire passages out loud while I was reading it; A Gambler is SUCH A DOWNER but the part where the protag tells Polina that “the mere sound of the rustle of her skirts on the stairs makes him want to hurl himself to the ground and bite his hands” or something along these lines altered my brain chemistry forever, and the Eternal Husband is like... Really a book without a single likeable character, and yet I enjoyed myself immensely while reading it lmao.
Fave characters, ULTRA HARD question bc I tend to like more their interactions than them themselves as concepts, but:
Crime and punishment: Dunia, Rodka, Sofia, Katerina the widow
The brothers karamazov: The three brothers (sorry Smerdiakov), Katya, Grusha, Lise
The idiot: NASTASYA FILIPPOVNA
The demons: Shatov & wife
