Open Arms: Finale
2 Weeks later after the rescue mission.
Dogbite and his team were getting ready for the gala party, Dogbite had just returned to the team the previous day and had felt like he had simply come home.
"Hey, Drago?" Dogbite asked as he sort his necklace "How was things leading the team while was gone?" Drago chuckled to himself as he sorted his ponytail "It went okay, nothing apocalyptic. Nuff said, captain."
"Fair enough, good job anyway Drago." Dogbite assured him. "We're all ready?" He looked around to see all his team were present, except Prettybird. "She ALWAYS takes a while..." FixFox murmured as she knocked on the door to her quarters "Prettybird??"
"Almost!" Prettybird called out as she applied her makeup "Alright, coming!" She said as she came out "You always take the longest" FixFox remarked "Not my fault, I want to perfect for Kickin!" Prettybird said as she twirled. Dogbite chuckled "Come on, let's not be late." With that, the squad set course for the Space Rider HQ.
Later, after arriving, the place was packed with other Rider squad members dancing or talking to eachother. "Okay everybody, you go have fun. I'm gonna find my brother." Dogbite said, with that everybody split off to have fun or meet up with a friend while Dogbite looked all around the gala for his brother.
Soon enough, there he was having a conversation with a black cat wearing a qipao and masquerade mask, it was of course Z. "Ahem." Dogbite said clearing his throat. The cat and the older dog looked at him with Dogday smiling. "Bro! Glad you could make it."
Dogbite smiled and leaned against the wall with his older brother, looking at Z as well "Cool mask." Dogbite complimented. "Thanks, made it myself." Z replied. The three chatted on as the party continued "When the Prototype finally shows, we're gonna take it out the both of us." Dogbite told him with Dogday nodding with a smirk, overhearing Z just goes "Prototype, take him out? Hehehehe..." Z chuckled shaking his head "Know something we don't?" Dogbite asked, noticing. "No, no. Just a little thought....ah, right on time." Z said as he looked ahead. "Hey you two. Look behind you."
The two brothers looked behind them and their jaws dropped. Entering the gala were two middle aged dogs, one male and one female. Arm in arm, they looked around before spotting the brothers, smiling at them they began to approach.
"...Did you call them to be here???" Dogday asked his little brother "No, i thought you did!" Dogbite replied while Z chuckled at the bickering "Guilty as charged, I did."
"...WHAT??" The brothers yelled at the cat in unison. The brothers started to yap at Z for inviting the strangers without either of their knowledge, nor consent. "Boys." Said the male dog, slowly Dogday and Dogbite turned to face the middle aged couple with nervousness.
"Hey mom." Dogday said "Hey dad." Dogbite added.
The female dog, with a big smile just walked up to her two sons and hugged them "How have you both been my little chaos pups?" she then happily kissed both of their foreheads while her husband chuckled. "Dawn, honey. Their not pups anymore." only for Dawn to turn back "Well, Goldie darling they are still my little pups."
Z chuckled "Mr Goldenhound Solaris and Mrs Spaniel Dawn, your both lucky to have these two for sons."
"Shut up!" The brothers told Z, embarrassed. "Now, now boys. No need to get tense." Goldenhound spoke with a stern tone. "Your masked friend here told us the whole story. We're proud of you both."
Both brother smiled at their parents "Hey, how about a family picture?" Dawn suggested "Mr Z, you don't mind if you could take it?
Z laughed "Please, call me Z." with that, the family of 4 got together for the picture, Dogday placed his arm on Dogbite's shoulder while he looked ahead with a smooth expression. They were rivals no more, they were now partners against a common threat, above all: Real brothers.

Puppy Love
Tumblr media
Summary: Jake asks if you want a puppy, you think he's joking, but now you and the boys actually have a puppy.
Warnings: Nothing really. Just a little blurb about you and the boys getting a fur baby.
Author’s Snip: My and my family recently got two puppies, pugs, and idk I just thought of this.
Notes: I believe and support "adopt, don't shop". Always make sure you do research and look into where you get your pets if you want one to make sure you aren't buying from mills. Also, please look into rescues and fosters too, they deserve a chance at getting happy homes. Okay my PSA is over.
I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! And don’t be afraid to request.
Word Count: 758
Tumblr media
When Jake asked you "Do you want a puppy?", you thought it was a joke, and you laughed, but when he looked up at you from his phone on his place on the couch you felt like maybe it wasn't. "Are you serious?" you question.
Jake turns his phone so that you can see the screen, revealing a picture of a large litter of what looked to be cocker spaniel puppies. "I know this guy. His girl's dog got out and got knocked up." Jake explained, "She popped out ten puppies and they want them out.". You look at the picture for a bit longer, maybe looking a little too softly at the litter since Jake asked if you want one.
"I don't know." you say, "What are the others thinking?" you ask. Judging off the smile Jake does, Marc and Steven have no idea about this. "Who cares. It's a puppy. Everyone likes puppies." Jake shrugs. "They won't be a puppy forever, Jake. And we live in a flat," you attempt to list off. Jake rolls his eyes, "I know. These dogs aren't that big though. It'll do fine. There are parks around, we can walk it around one of them." he explains. You think about it for a moment, not too sure what to say. Jake also picks up on that and says "Think about it.".
"I'll think about it and we tell the others about it." you say.
Marc wasn't too thrilled, but he also didn't really oppose it either. "It's a lot of work. We have to train it. And pay for vets and food and all that." and so on which Marc seemed to not like the sound of. "You were able to pay rent for a flat and a storage unit, Steven has a million books and trinkets, and Jake owns a bunch of cars. We all can sacrifice some money for them." you mention, and Marc acknowledged your point. "Okay. I'll think about it." he said.
Steven seemed more open, more focused on having the idea of having another pet than the price tag attached that had Marc on the fence. "It would be nice. Have a new addition. After all, the Gus' doesn't really do much other than swim around." is what he said about the idea. "We'd have to get one that's very calm though. So that we don't get a complaint about barking." he commented in a mutter.
And with that, and Marc letting up and going with the idea, you and Jake drove to his friend's place to meet the pups. On the way there Jake said to keep yourself together and not show any emotion because "He might want to get rid of them as quick as he can, but I'm sure he wants to make some good money while doing it.". It wasn't easy, but you managed to do good when interacting with them to see which one you wanted.
Going off of what each one of you wanted in your potential future dog you managed to find one that was more interested in sniffing and laying down on you than playing and running around like the rest of their siblings.
"That one doesn't do too much. He just lays around and chews on a toy every once in a while. The most I've seen him do is whine when he wants food and bite his siblings if they're trampling him." the guy says, "Good if you want something that just lays down with you." he remarks.
After some more talk, you decided that he was the one that you would take home. After Jake paid and the guy making a comment about getting the puppy fixed as soon as possible, the rest of the day was a long trip to the pet store to get everything he needed. Kibble, bowls, a bed, a collar, pads, a few toys, the whole lot. By the end of it, Jake's car was full of stuff and his pockets less full than when he left.
"You owe us, beba." Jake smirked nudging you playfully. "Jake. Not in front of the baby." you scold back in the same humor making him laugh.
"So," Jake said, "What are we naming him?" he asked. You look at the little thing in your arms and think for a moment. "Jake Jr." you joke. Jake laughs and says no, and the joke goes on with suggesting Steven Jr. and Marc Jr. until you shrug and settle on figuring that out some other time.

Apparently, today (2nd Tuesday in June) is World Pet Memorial Day, so I thought I'd share some pictures... My dear old Barney, who passed away in May of 2023 aged 16.5 years. Truly, the best of friends, who accompanied me on so many adventures & helped me through the worst time of my life. I cannot imagine any of my 20s without this dog at my side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Barney's 1st dog-pal, Delilah (mostly known as Dilly) the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was born in 2002 & passed in 2013. She belonged to dad's family & Barney lived with her for the first few years I had him. What a fantastic little dog she was - the sort of pup who could go anywhere & was always so sweet & just happy. Those little paws of hers covered many miles over the years, although she was also entirely happy curled up on "her" chair all day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lyra & Hovis were border collies who belonged to my dad's SO. Lyra the little blue merle was very good friends with Barney, they loved running about together. Hovis wasn't the biggest fan of Barney, bless him but he was an absolutely sweet lad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tessa the German Shepherd Dog belonged to my best friend. She had been trained as a working dog for the military but seemed very happy to retire & spend her last few years as a pet! Excellent, 10/10 at scary barky faces but a lovely dog!
Tumblr media
Not a dog... my little Elsie-cat, who we adopted in 2007 as an unnamed stray from a local rescue centre. She was such a great kitty & even came to live with me & my friends for my last year at uni. She helped us all write our final dissertations. She & Barney were good pals (she was The Boss of course!) for years. I was devastated to lose her aged 12.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally... Bertie, the border collie. He belonged to my beloved granddad (who sadly passed in 2011). Bertie was the unwanted "runt" of a litter born on a farm in the early '90s & he really should've been out working sheep but instead, he lived as a much loved but not much trained pet. He was wild! I was a small child at the time & I thought Bertie was the most fun animal in the entire world. By the age of 5 I knew I wanted my own border collie one day - because of Bertie. He's why I had Barney & have Flynn. Character wise, my Flynn reminds me a lot of old Bert, it makes me smile.

Olivia and arthur convincing you and George to get a dog for a christmas because you guys are the only mercedes driver without a dog
Note: in one of the first George pieces, I added a little furry friend to their family and then I completely forgot about her, so I'm twisting and bending time a little here
"Why do you want us in the living room "very quick, please"?", George asked, as he quoted his daughter, "and why does it look like mummy knows what this is about and I don't?", he wondered, seeing you and Arthur with the iPad. "Thank you, mummy", your little boy said, kissing your cheek before ushering you to sit next to your husband. "I don't know what's going on, only that they wanted to connect the iPad to the TV", you said, cuddling up to George as you watched the screen.
"Mummy, Daddy, we have an important thing to ask", Arthur stated, grabbing the iPad and making a PowerPoint appear on the TV, "how did you guys make this?", George wondered.
"Mick helped us when Frederik was racing in his place", Olivia quickly assured, "he said we have to swipe - yes, good job, Arthur! Like we were saying, we have a request: we want a puppy!", she cheered.
"Are you surprised that they know how to work with that?", you whispered, "I'm more startled that I wasn't the one to teach them, actually", George snickered back.
"We have a big house, so the puppy can run around anytime she wants", Arthur said as he pointed at a badly taken picture of your garden, "there are four of us, plus Winston, so she'll never be alone and she'll be very loved", he reasoned, showing a picture of your cat playing with Roscoe when you looked after him when Lewis was on vacation.
"Angie is fluffy, and we love fluffy animals, but she's really big, we know that", Olivia noted as Arthur carefully scrolled through the slides, "Roscoe is not so fluffy, but he's tiny and easy to carry around, so", she said as her brother pretended to drumroll on the table, delighting you at their cuteness, "we want a small and fluffy dog, like these!", they yelled as a picture of a caramel cocker spaniel appeared on the screen.
"We are very good at taking care of dogs, and Angie always makes happy noises when she's with us", Arthur pouted, "can we please get a puppy? Pretty please?".
Looking at George, who was still amazed at their skills and perseverance, you took the first say, "we can look into it, but we can't promise anything! A cat is one thing, guys, they're very clean animals and independent, too, and a dog is very different", you nudged George, "I agree with mummy. We'll see about it, okay? We'll give it some time and thought", George smiled as the kids hugged you both, "Also, we give very good hugs, another bonus point!", making you laugh.
(Thank you for submitting an ask 🤍)

kiss out of spite for willex plz and thank you (if this isn't too late I'm so behind lol)
You are absolutely not too late!!! I'm just very behind, lol! Hope you enjoy!
"Hey Hotdog," Willie says as he slides onto the bench beside his boyfriend, his board under his arm.
"Hi," Alex responds, that familiar smile crossing his face as he leans in to peck them gently on the mouth in greeting. "How was the ride over?"
"Great, all the dogs are out!" Willie answers. One of the things that makes this cafe one of his and Alex's date spots is that it's not too far to walk (or skate) to from either of their apartments. And the warm, spring weather makes it an easy place to meet up.
Alex laughs. "Oh I know, Reggie hasn't stopped texting the guys and I pictures all day."
Willie claps a hand to his chest in mock offense. "And he hasn't sent any to me?! I thought we were friends."
"Nope, you've been spared the spam of puppy pictures, he definitely likes you more than me," Alex argues lightly.
"What, you don't appreciate him sharing the cuteness of his day with you?" Willie teases.
The barista calls out Alex's name before the drummer can reply. Alex holds up a finger, as if to say Hold that thought, then rises and heads for the counter. Willie glances towards the menu board. Right, cafe, he should probably get something. They wonder if that new chocolate thing comes in decaf.
"Okay, I got one of the berry lemonades and one of this dutch chocolate mocha," Alex says, placing a tall glass and a large mug on the table. "Which do you want?"
Willie feels their face warming as they realize that Alex ordered drinks for both of them. "Um, I'm good with either," he says, trying to translate the way his heart skips a beat into a smile Alex can read. "Thank you."
Alex groans playfully. "Look, we both know I can't make decisions, so pick a drink, Covington." He sits down on the bench beside Willie and nudges both drinks in their direction.
Willie hesitates, glancing back and forth between the cups. "This is decaf, right?" he asks after a second, tapping the rim of the mug.
"Yep, can't have you going hyper or me throwing up," Alex confirms.
"I'll try that one then," Willie decides, wrapping both hands around the hot ceramic and lifting it.
"Perfect," Alex declares, taking a sip of the lemonade. "You'll have to tell me if it's good though, looked interesting."
"Will do." Willie takes a sip of the beverage, recoiling slightly when it burns their tongue. "Thank you," they repeat.
"Of course," Alex says, though the pink in his cheeks betrays his casual tone. "Gotta keep my partner well hydr-" He cuts himself off, probably realizing that drinking coffee is the opposite of hydrating. "Happy to," he finishes after a second.
Willie lets it go, since Alex already seems embarrassed. "So about all those dog pictures Reggie sent you," they hint instead, raising an eyebrow.
Alex chuckles, seeming glad for the change of topic. "What, you want to see them that bad?" he questions, incredulous. "There's a lot of them."
"Gimme!" Willie declares, reaching for the pocket of Alex's pink hoodie, where his phone usually resides.
"Okay okay okay," Alex giggles, holding up one hand in surrender while grabbing the device with the other.
He unlocks it and leans closer so Willie can see the screen. Feeling brave, Willie wraps an arm around his waist to guide him even closer. Alex's ears are turning pink, but he carefully slips his own arm around Willie's shoulders.
"So..." Alex hums, scrolling back through the Sunset Curve group chat on his phone, past dozens of pictures and messages. "Yeah all of this is from today," he continues, still scrolling. "But here's the first one I think."
Willie coos at the blurry picture of a couple of golden labs wrestling near a playground. Next is a spaniel on a walk with their human. Then a dog walker being nearly dragged across the sidewalk by four dogs of various sizes. Willie laughs at that one.
Alex scrolls down to the next one, but someone loudly clearing their throat pulls both of their attention away from the screen. On the other side of their table stands a tall, white man in jeans and a flannel shirt. He also has a very deep frown on his face.
"Hey, what's up?" Willie asks cautiously. He feels Alex's arm tense around his shoulders.
"What's 'up'," the guy snaps, putting air quotes around the second word, "is that you two are being all rowdy over here and bothering my family."
The guy has a slight southern accent, but the look on his face is anything but hospitable. Willie glances across the cafe to see a woman and three kids, probably all under the age of 10, a few tables away. The kids are making more noise than he and Alex were though.
"Sorry," Alex says quickly. "We weren't trying to, we'll be quieter."
The guy doesn't seem satisfied by that, which doesn't surprise Willie. They're pretty sure they know what this is actually about.
"You'd better get real quiet," the man says, taking a step closer. "I don't need you people exposing my kids to all your unnatural tenancies."
Willie feels Alex shrinking into their side and resists the urge to punch this guy in the face. Sure, they're both well aware that jerk homophobes are everywhere. But right now? Really? Alex is barely back from having to spend a weekend with his homophobic parents for a family reunion. Can't this jerk just mind his own business?
"With all due respect," Willie responds, his tone icy, "I think your kids aren't going to be eternally traumatized by me and my boyfriend being on a date while they're drinking hot chocolate in the same cafe. Please leave us alone."
"You people got some nerve," the man growls, one fist clenching.
Willie slides the hand that isn't on Alex's waist into his pocket, reaching for his pepper spray.
"Sure, we have guts," Alex cuts in, startling both the man and Willie. "But not because we're doing anything wrong. We're brave for still being out here when people like you are here too. People who want us dead just because we're queer."
Willie feels a rush of pride for his boyfriend in his chest. They know just how much Alex has had to fight against the homophobia drilled into him from an early age. They know all about how much pain it causes him when his parents continue to pretend that he isn't gay. They know how terrifying these situations are for the both of them. And Alex is standing up for them anyways.
"Yeah, and we're not going anywhere," Willie adds, feeling Alex's trembling. "It's not like being gay is anything new. It's just a part of humanity, whether you like it or not. So you might as well give up and leave us alone, because your big man act is just pathetic." He channels every bit of his dad into that last sentence. "Now either leave us be or we'll call the cops."
The guy splutters for a minute, then storms off. Alex just stares after him for a long moment, then turns to Willie with a nervous smile.
"You okay?" the drummer asks, brushing a strand of hair away from their face.
"Yeah, you?" Willie responds, catching Alex's hand with their own.
Alex nods. "I think so. I just wasn't really expecting that I guess."
"Me either," Willie says, taking in a deep breath.
He glances back over at the man's table to see him snapping at his kids to finish their drinks so they can leave. They can't help the smirk that pulls at their lips. The two of them did that. They stood up to that jerk and drove him off. Together.
"You did great," he tells Alex, squeezing his hand.
"Right back at you," Alex chuckles, his smile growing a bit. The drummer steals a look over at the other table as well. "Geez, sucks to be that guy's kids," he comments.
"Yeah," Willie agrees sadly. "Maybe he'll get better?"
Alex just shakes his head. Willie wonders if he reminded the drummer of his dad at all. But now isn't for thinking about jerks, they tell themself. Today is for having fun and being back together.
"Hey, you wanna tick that dude off a bit more?" Willie asks, raising an eyebrow and grinning.
Alex huffs a laugh. "Depends, what did you have in mind?"
Instead of verbally answering, Willie moves his arm from Alex's waist to cup the back of his neck. They move in closer, pausing a few inches away from his face to wait for an answer. Alex smirks and closes the distance between them in a warm, solid kiss.
Willie lets go of Alex's hand to cup his jaw as the drummer's fingers slide into their hair. It's firm and steady and it's not long before they're both smiling too much to keep kissing. The glare the homophobe shoots them as he herds his family out the door just makes them laugh.
"I missed you," Alex breathes into the space between them. "I know I wasn't actually gone for that long, but..."
"I get it," Willie responds softly. "I missed you too."
They separate fully after another minute. Willie's coffee is getting cold, but they don't really mind. "So my place after this?" he suggests. "We can get takeout for dinner and watch some cheesy gay romcom or something?"
"Sounds perfect," Alex agrees.

Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Content Warnings: Manga Spoilers, Post-Time Skip, Friends to Lovers, Enemies? (Or maybe just dense people) to Lovers, Angst, Fluff
Summary: The best way to prevent a broken heart is to tame your feelings, keep them locked in a room. At least that is what Shiroyanagi Natsumi thought. Until, she sees him again, Kuroo Tetsurou, taller, older, prettier. And she realises a heart that longs, hurts more than a heart that breaks.
Words Count: 2.8k
Tumblr media
Kuroo Tetsurou - 黒尾 鉄朗
Shiroyagani Natsumi - 白柳夏美
黒 (black) 白 (white)
Tumblr media
Scientists say black is the absence of all colours. Artists say it’s the only shade present in all colours. I say you are all of that –presence and absence, light and obscurity, shade and colour.
One of the most annoying tasks she has to do as the freshly-new athletic trainer of the Japan Women's Volleyball Team is to appear in a collaboration video with the coach and the team members. Shiroyanagi Natsumi has always been used to being the tallest girl in her class, which is why in first grade, her parents had made a bet on her career path — it would be whether volleyball player or modelling — but because she hated to be in the spotlight, she chose volleyball. But now, as she stands beside the athletes (and despite being 6’ tall), she feels extremely small. At least she managed to stay in shape thanks to her studies in sports science, I should have gone more to the gym, she thinks anyway.
When her coach broke the news that the sports promotion division of the Japan Volleyball Association wanted to include her in their campaign, she would have given anything to murder the obnoxious, stupid, sadist — and whatever adjective strong enough to express her hate — person in charge of that division.
According to the coach, it is important to bring to light their indispensable job. And what can she say about it, he is her boss after all and she dreamed of working with the Olympic team for years. So, she offered a tense smile and returned to her office.
“Did your dog die?”
Ito Izumi, the regular libero of the team, looks at her with big eyes.
“Of course not, I would be desperate if he did,” Natsumi mutters, a pout appearing on her lips at the mention of the loss of the love of her life, Saba, a cute and fluffy Cavalier King Charles spaniel that Natsumi adopted two-years ago. My child, as she likes to call him.
“Well you do look desperate, Nana.”
Liberos are said to be, well, straightforward. And they need to. At the end of the day, in a game they don’t have time to be precious or cautious, they just have to dive to the floor and end up with a few bruises. Natsumi never understood why one would want to do crazy things like liberos, that’s why she was fine with being a middle blocker in school. As the saying goes, clichés die hard, and Ito Izumi is no exception to the rule. She is in fact Straightforward, frank and a little bit crazy (she also happens to be the best libero of all Japan).
Natsumi only sighs, “I hate photoshoots. And why do I have to be here anyway? If I chose to be an athletic trainer and not a proper athlete it is because I don’t like getting the attention. Argh. ”
Only a few pictures have been taken, yet the athletic trainer already feels exhausted and blinded by the too-bright white lights of the flashes. The two girls are seated in a corner of the studio, taking a water break from all this agitation.
“Eww, I know you don’t like photoshoots.”
“Why are you laughing?” Natsumi asks, eyebrows raised.
“It’s just-” Izumi took a few seconds to wipe away the tears that started to form in her eyes “I just remembered the day of your graduation, when Yaku and I dragged you all the way from the toilets to take a picture.”
Her friend cringes at the mention of the memory, she softly pushes the libero. “Shut up!” Deep down Natsumi feels her heart lighten. Is that nostalgia from a time when one did not have to think about taxes and bosses and grocery shopping and whatever adult responsibility?
“I remember how Suzuki-sensei screamed at Yaku for entering the girls’ toilets.”
“He turned all red.”
They laugh so loud the make-up team turns and gives them suspicious looks.
“See, I know this would make you smile.”
Natsumi looks at Izumi, offering her a soft smile. “You always know how to make me smile.”
And this is as true as the law of gravity. Izumi never fails to make her friends smile. The girls met in high school. They both went to Nekoma, known to be a powerhouse for volleyball. Natsumi was one year above Izumi. When the latter became a first year, Natsumi was made vice-captain of the female team. She remembers when Izumi entered — or rather burst into the gymnasium. She’s so loud, everyone thought. She was grounded by the captain and had to take care of the cleaning for a whole month. One time, when Natsumi stayed a little longer to train her serves after a defeating match, Izumi told her how happy she was to be in this team. Natsumi found her naive at first, they had just lost, and terribly, how could she be happy? But as she looked at her, cleaning the polished wooden floor and acclaiming every action her teammates made, Natsumi smiled. That day, she discovered that Izumi wasn’t just loud and naive, she had a gift, one of putting the smile back on your face. Whether it was when Yaku hurt his ankle during his last high school tournament, when Kenma forgot to save his progress on dragon quests or when Kuroo turned silent for a whole month when Natsumi announced she was leaving for America. Her presence itself brings joy.
“Do you have news from Yaku by the way?” Natsumi asks.
“Of course I have. He came back from Russia last month. You know, It’s not because he broke my heart ten years ago that I resent him.” Izumi puffs out her chest, trying to express the little pride she has left through her posture.
“This sentence itself makes it obvious that you’re not over it.”
“I-well, you know how I am. I have a crush on a guy-”
“On a libero you mean.”
“Alright, alright, on a libero. I have a thing for liberos. Anyway. I confess to him. He says I’m a pain in the ass. I get over it and find a new gu-libero. That’s called the circle of life. That happened in high school with Yaku, with that Nishinoya guy, the list is long. My new target is the cutie cutie Komori from the boys’ team though.”
For anyone foreign from the situation, Izumi could be diagnosed with Emophilia. But Natsumi has known her friend for over a decade now, nothing could surprise her anymore when it comes to Izumi’s love life.
“Anyway. We’re having dinner with the boys tonight, wanna come with us? Just like the good old days.”
Natsumi knows what “good old days” mean, she knows who that includes, and as strong and independent and tough she may be, she doesn’t feel ready yet.
But maybe that’s the point of life, jumping off the cliff when one feels the least ready.
But she gets up. Somehow being in the spotlight of the cameras and getting yelled at by the photograph is less scary than where this conversation is leading to.
“I am deeply, deeply, sorry for being late.”
An infuriating, sarcastic voice resonates in the studio — or as it sounds like to the athletic trainer. That doesn’t stop her from turning around as fast as the light.
Taller. Older. Prettier. That is how Kuroo Tetsurou reflects in Natsumi’s eyes as he makes his entrance.
“Kuroo-san!” Coach Watanabe runs towards the man. “Kuroo-san, it’s good to see you.” He energetically shakes his hands.
“There was an accident on the road, I’m very sorry.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine! Listen, girls.” The older man shouts to capture everyone’s attention. As if Natsumi’s eyes were not already glued on the tall silhouette of what appears to be a ghost. Am I time travelling? She asks herself. No way, no way, Kuro would never wear a suit.
She’s not dreaming. He is indeed wearing a suit. A black suit, making his thighs look as muscular as ever. A red tie, reminding her of his Nekoma’s jersey. A few buttons of his white shirt loose, probably in an attempt to get some fresh air — Tokyo summers are cruel — all of that means only one thing, Kuroo Tetsurou is no longer a teenager. No longer the captain of the volleyball team. No longer an awkward eighteen-year-old boy unable to confess his feelings for his best friend from the opposite gender.
When Kuroo catches sight of her, his whole world seems to be still. Did colours disappear?
“Shiro?” he whispers awkwardly, too low to make the coach stop his presentation.
“This is Kuroo Tetsurou, he is in charge of the sports promotion division of the Japan Volleyball Association. He was the one suggesting the brilliant idea of this campaign.”
So this is the obnoxious, stupid, sadist person Natsumi wanted to murder a couple of days ago. Of course, how could it be someone else? How naive of her.
If Kuroo is no longer a teenager, so is Natsumi. Her younger self would have walked past him, giving him a cold shoulder and screaming that he was the most stupid and selfish and stupid  — teenagers do have a limited list of vocabulary — person she knows. How dare he reappear in her work territory now? But her twenty-six-old self clears her throat and manages to find better words than “stupid” and “selfish”.
“Hi, Kuro”.
“Hello there, are you real or is this a very good hologram of Shiro?”
“Even though your hair looks like you just woke up, you’re not dreaming. That is me.”
“Well- I guess you look smaller. And more tanned.”
“You can thank the Californian sun for that.”
Kuroo's heart skips a beat. How could he say thank you to the Californian sun when that same sun was the one who took her from him?
“Tetsuu!” Izumi sings. However, her joy is quickly stopped by the deadly glance Natsumi is giving her.
“Did you know he would come?” Izumi reads in her friend’s eyes.
But liberos are fearless, they like to jump and dive and sometimes, to drown.
So she ignores her and slams the man on the arm, “The captain is looking fine.”
“Izumi, it’s good to see you, it’s been a long time.” (A long, long time indeed.) “How are you? Are you enjoying your new life in Italy?” he asks.
“Ew, our coach is pretty intense. The Italian championship is coming next October, so we need to prepare but apart from that pastas are good, the sun shines, and the wine is fuck-”
“Izumi, we need to go back to the photoshoot.” Natsumi interrupts. “See you later Kuro.”
As she’s about to go to the other side of the studio, Kuroo adds with a smirk. “I did not know you were into modelling now.”
That’s your fault, she wants to say, you were the one proposing this fucking campaign. But instead, she goes for something more sarcastic, after all, she is talking to Kuroo, the king of sarcasm.
“There’s many things you don’t know about me, Kuroo Tetsurou.”
Tumblr media
If Natsumi had got up and tried to run away from the “good old days” conversation is certainly not to end up in this precise situation. But here she is, stuck between Yamamoto and Kuroo in the most crowded Izakaya of Shibuya. Izumi is ordering her fourth beer, Asahi, her favourite. Yaku is trying to hide it from her. Lev is eating a cauliflower salad and explaining that he needs to keep his diet clean if he doesn’t want to lose his contract with whatever agency he is working with at that time. Yes, she is having dinner with Izumi and “the boys”.
“Shiroyanagi-san, do you want more fried chicken?” Shibayama asks with his usual polite tone (almost too pure for this world). But Natsumi says no, her hair already smells too much of greasy food, she might need to wash them with a super special shampoo tonight.
Don’t get her wrong, it’s not that she doesn’t want to be here. A reunion with her high school friends could be very enjoyable but the thing is, when she woke up that morning she did not expect to run into Kuroo Tetsurou and even less to eat next to him and feel his shoulder and hand and leg against hers in a small restaurant.
“Isn’t Kenma coming?” she finally asks Kuroo.
“He has this very important livestream tonight, but he might come later.”
“Nice.” She shyly mutters.
Kuroo looks at her sipping her glass of water.
“Is this how this conversation is going to be like?”
“What do you mean?”
If Natsumi did not know Kuroo well she might have thought that his attitude remained unchanged. But she does know him, even separated by years and continents, she knows when he was pissed. And right now, he looks pissed.
“Small talk.” he finally answers. “We haven’t seen each other in years and the only thing you’re asking me is when Kenma arrives.”
“I haven’t seen Kenma in quite some time too.”
That’s how you wanna play, Kuroo thinks.
“Says the girl who left for America.”
From across the table, Yaku overhears his former captain and decides to let Izumi drink her beer. That’s a lost case anyway, she’s already drunk. What matters now is how Natsumi’s eyebrows frown and how she starts scratching her nails, a bad habit she has since forever and that she usually goes back to when she feels uncomfortable.
“It was eight years ago, Kuro, eight years. Do I need to apologise, again?”
“I’m not looking for any apologies.”
“Then what do you want?”
Yaku wants to interfere, he’s good at it, that used to be his job in the team, but as his mouth opens to speak, Inuoka lets out a sound that only he — and probably Shoyo — could understand.
“Heyaaa! More meat is coming.”
Kuroo gets distracted for a second, drifting his attention away from Natsumi. The girl lets herself breathe again and grabs her bag. She has to get out of this place and escape from the noise and the heat of the food in front of her.
When Kuroo turns back, Natsumi is out of sight.
Once safely outside, she gets a cigarette and a lighter from her pocket.
How funny it is that people smoke when they feel stressed, strangled, muffled. Can this be called fighting fire with fire?
“I did not know you smoked.”
Long and blond-dyed hair, yellow eyes, awkward smile. Natsumi would recognize him in a crowd filled with thousands and thousands of people. Or cats.
“What a shame for an athletic trainer, I know the song.”
Kenma chuckled, “As if I would judge your lifestyle when I sleep maybe three hours every night.”
“That’s the prize to pay for being rich and famous.” She lights up her cigarette. “I only smoke when I’m tense or having a drink with my friends though.”
“Which one is it right now?”
“Both.”
Kenma doesn’t reply back so she decides to go a bit deeper and complains about the raven-hair boy.
“Your best friend is the worst. He says I’m only having small talks with him when we haven’t seen each other in years but he blames me for going to college in America. Argh. This was eight years ago, Kenma. Why is he still mad? I hate when he does this with his superior tone and tcht- never mind.”
Her voice has become more nasal and furious as she talks. Anger and cigarettes are not a good combination.
“Guess some things never change.”
Natsumi, back pressed against the wall, sighs, “for sure, he hasn’t changed. He’s still a jerk.”
The good thing about talking with Kenma is that she is free to say whatever she wants, she can even insult his best friend, and he wouldn’t argue.
“What I meant is that you guys have always been kinda awkward.”
“Awkward? What do you mean?”
The boy, already tired of the conversation, crouches down, “You can’t have a proper conversation without fighting. I’ve never seen anyone like you two, or, well, maybe Shoyo and Kageyama are like that. If you were a romantic book you would be, I don't know, what they call academic rivals or something like that.”
“A romantic book? Seriously Kenma, as if…”
The silence questions even more the boy, “as if what? As if you could ever have romantic feelings for him? I don’t really know this kind of stuff so I won’t give any advice but I’m not blind. And neither are you.”
It’s a good thing Kuroo is still inside, she would hate having to discuss that topic with him. “Romantic feelings for Shiro?” She remembers him saying to Kai one evening outside of the changing room, “She’s more like an annoying cousin to me.”
Kenma gets up and she stubs out her cigarette.
“Tell the boys and Izumi I went back home because-”
“You missed your dog.”
That is the easiest and probably most credible lie he can give, so she thanks him with a soft smile and leaves.
She hopes to find solace under her fleece blanket, drinking a hot chocolate buried in whipped cream and with her dog resting on her chest, but when she opens the door of her apartment — a door that needs to be oiled — and is welcomed by the darkness, the silence and the emptiness of the room, she sighs. Soon enough, Saba greets her by whining.
“Hi baby, I missed you.”
The only thing that eases her mind is that tomorrow will be Saturday, no need to go to work, no need to run into him.
She doesn’t have a lot of pictures on her white walls, only a few from high school with Izumi and some from college. As she looks at them she wonders if she should have been to America at all, if she shouldn’t have stayed in Japan instead. With him. But thank gods, she comes back to her senses quickly and regrets ever thinking that. America was great, it was the best decision of her life. She shall not let the guilt intrude upon her mind. Kuro must be getting under my skin. She concludes before going to bed.

Alexei Nikolaevich with his beloved Spaniel Joy and his cat, Kotka. More about Kotka below…
Tumblr media
Kotka was gifted to Alexei Nikolaevich by Count Major General Vladimir Nikolaevich Voeikov during his stay at Military HQ, ‘Stavka’, with his father. Judging by this photograph and General Voeikov’s memoir, Kotka was a Siamese cat.
“I have on my farm… Siyam…ones. They were so beautiful, colour like chocolate with blue eyes, etc…. [the] Heir asked for one…
Next time, I gave him a wicker [basket] with a cat. He was dithyrambic [note: probably a rough translation of very enthusiastic and excited]. To Sisters (OTMA) a letter was sent, and they wanted some too…”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Count Major General Voeikov, and with Alexei at Stavka, December 1916. Also pictured are Pierre Gilliard ('Zhillik'), Sydney Gibbes ('Sig'), and Pyotr Vasilievich Petrov ('PVP')
Throughout his letters and dairies, Alexei frequently mentions Kotka, including how she and Alexei’s spaniel dog Joy liked to sleep together, and how he woke up one morning to fine Kotka asleep next to him.
As the months as Stavka went by, Kotka began to accompany Alexei to his lessons with tutors Pierre Gilliard, Pyotr Vasilievich Petrov, and Sydney Gibbes, preferring to cuddle up next to Joy and nap throughout the teaching. Alexei even trained Kotka to accompany him and Joy on their daily car rides with Pierre Gilliard!
It’s unknown exactly what happened to Kotka and her fellow feline friends: Maria’s cat, and Olga’s cat Zubrovka. However, the general understanding is that they weren’t allowed to accompany the family to Tobolsk, and remained at the Alexander Palace until homes were found for each of them.

yearning man; the cruelest condition | kuroo tetsuro.
giving hallmark with this one; soulmates who don't grow old until meeting?? sob. wrote in the same haze i did when i wrote midoriya’s. soulmate kuroo at his hopeless! if you find any mistakes please let me know!
Tumblr media
He has learned, contrary to the belief of many, that he rather abhors the allure of red, but adores the particular shades of blue that morph from the original; ultramarine, cobalt, electric, sky, baby, periwinkle (which he believes should be considered more of a purple and probably is)—but his favorite for the last seventy years has been robin-egg blue.
He belives that in the time of looking for ‘the one’, he has discovered instead what makes life bearable. He likes his coffee black but with two sugars, sometimes three if he’s feeling risky, tea with sometimes too much honey, four pillows in bed so he has two to cuddle. He likes dogs, not as well as cats but has a certain endearment for his neighbor’s cocker spaniel, who seems to enjoy laying across his feet in protest whenever he visits, refusing to let him leave. He likes the routine of visiting the shops that open and close; the bookstore that burnt down and was rebuilt in defiance, the bar with the bartender who tells him really good jokes, the fabric store that trades gossip as well as wares. A maximalist to his core, but in seventy years, at least things would be there if someone wanted a list; what have you found, if not the other half of your soul?
(Not enough.)
(“I feel I could eat endlessly and still be starving.” He says, and Kenma waits for the punchline. “Because I feel what would nourish me is what has not found me.”
“I suggest you start writing poetry. You would be a hit with goths.” But his best friend would know him in every variation; he is a painting stripped of cover, in every medium. “You’re talking about your soulmate again.”
“Yes. There’s no comparison. None.”
“Giving up already?” Kenma smiles at that, laughs hard enough that his eyes squint and says; “And here I thought you’d strip the world to bone.”)
In truth, it is not for the lack of trying. He has spent every penny of his fortune and created another just to look into every face, buy every ticket, spend every hour creating a map of where you could be—he has been to every continent, every state, he’s sure nearly every city but another may always rise out a former’s grave. For a year he gave up searching, but a year turned into two and two into five and then Kenma sent him a picture of a stranger, who walked with a grace so familiar to him that he imagined he had lost control of his jaw.
And he imagines it must’ve been a fluke—that some things aren’t tethered to others the way people entertain, but then Hinata sends a photo, and then the Miyas, and the Tanakas, even the Haibas after. Everywhere he’s went, everywhere he’s not, you are there, dressed in his heartstrings. Perhaps this is his eternal punishment; knowing you want something so badly and never being close enough to grasp it.
(It is so strange, he thinks one night, to feel like the compass needle without direction. North, he knows, but the star is missing and he has been painting directions on kites, tacking fliers to all of the telescopes, hoping it will see.)
“It’s a little creepy to take pictures of strangers without them knowing. I’m pretty sure it’s also illegal.” Kuroo pinches a strawberry between his fingers, biting into it to the stem, letting sweetness coat his tongue. The longer he chews, he can feel the bitterness that will dry the throat. “I still think it’s just a coincidence. It won’t be just anyone, I’m sure I’ll know it when I see them.”
“Say it again and maybe you’ll convince yourself this time.” He can practically hear Tsukishima’s eye roll. “They’re definitely looking for someone. Hinata said they came into the bookshop just after you did and took a walk around the store but didn’t buy anything. I think you just have a broken radar,"
Kuroo’s mouth twists. “Are you sure it’s not just a shoplifter? Or just a coincidence? Hinata wouldn’t be able to see a criminal if they stood in front of him wearing handcuffs.” He pauses, mulling over his thoughts, listening to the thunder of rain outside of his window. “…That makes me sound like a dick—but the point is that I find it a little hard to believe it all comes together now.”
“You are a dick, but consider the idea the universe isn’t a total idiot. I’ve been trying to avoid my ‘other half’ for a month now and every time I think I’ve done it—wham! There they are, staring me in the face,"
“You ever hear about magnets?”
“Stop.”
“That’s literally what it is. You hate each other and can’t stop finding ways to eat each other’s faces? Magn—”
“Tetsuro. Kuroo. You need to go outside—you need to go outside right now. I’m looking out of my window, I think I just saw—”
“Please don’t tell me—”
“—them. Turning the corner of Third. They’re holding… two coffee cups?” Tsukishima falls quieter then, voice tough as steel. “My advice; stop being a coward. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong but at least you’d know. Life goes on. Go.”
He has the best and worst of friends. “Fuck. I hate you. Getting my shoes.”
(It has taken so much to get here. He hopes in the mail room of destinies, he is a package only slightly dinged, hopes he is something someone is expecting and still excited for.)
He’s forgotten his umbrella and his hair sticks flat to his head when he arrives, inky blackness falling in front of his eyes, but his feet continue to slam against cement, his phone bounces in his pocket, his heart skitters across his ribs. The drizzle turns to downpour, downpour to drizzle. It seems even Mother Nature has a heart unwilling to live so softly.
Each step, Kuroo thinks; life is like a box of chocolates; something is always missing and every version of the map leads you opposite of where you want to go. He thinks; regardless of anyone’s age, they will never know anything, or everything. They will always be surprised.
When he sees you in person, he almost trips; like a child that learns to walk, he has misplaced the knowledge. The air escapes his lungs, the words he’d muttered under his breath have forgotten his name; he believes now, his senses have moved out and are backed up on the rent.
You catch his eye when he turns the corner, waving with one to-go cup, and time begins again. “Hello.”
Kuroo stares into your face, mouth parted, raindrops sliding past his eyes, down his cheeks. He is speechless—this is what love must be, to be both lighthouse and ship wanting to dock and never knowing when you’ll find a harbor.
He thinks; he is too old to have lovesickness such as this. He thinks; he is too young to know the type of wanting that craters into his soul like this. He thinks; that is okay, he has the rest of his life to love and hate figuring it out. He is right.
“It’s too late now,” he says. He wrings his hands in front of him, feels the need to tap his shoe. “I fell in love with you the moment I saw you.”
You smile and he swears he hears music. “About time, second place.” He believes if the word sublime had a name, it would be yours. You are paradise sent, a catastrophically perfect being. A hurricane where he is perpetually in the eye. “I’ve been looking for you.”
(It cannot possibly be this easy.)
Kuroo hears the sidewalk traffic as people walk around you both, feels the cutting breeze, the firmness of the earth. It helps him breathe and yet scares him so. Life has a way of being unbearably real. “So I hear. You like blue?”
“Only this kind.”
“Interesting.” He doesn’t miss a beat. “I think I was made for you,” He feels he might hiccup up his heart. “I think we shared a star, once.”
Electricity, sunlight, supernovas, comets—none as bright as the sight of your half-lidded, knowing eyes, the unrestrained curl of your lips. He thinks that if he were to knit your hands, your thumb would brush the beauty marks on the side of his finger, over his knuckles, your wrists would kiss, the spaces of his body would fit yours.
It is quite impossible, he would’ve said, but he is a believer, now, of all things unblemished, all things unexplainable. He feels you could brush his soul with the pad of your finger and it would bring him to his knees.
(But maybe it is.)
The cups are placed into his hands, the smell of peppermint and vanilla, wafting. Your fingertips are hot, palms warm as they are softly pressed into his cheeks. You’re a breaths-width away, voice is twisted into song, and he bets the world has fallen from his feet.
“Finally.”
(He is hopelessly, endlessly, terribly devoured by the loveliness. It has been a vacation where he has painstakingly, wonderfully arrived home. He has never been this peaceful. Here’s the north star, he thinks, I was looking for it, and it was looking for me.
He will never love another color like this one again.)

To finish out the Moriarthree hcs, what are your hcs for Liam?
I always suspect that, removed from Albert and Louis and his desire to keep them comfortable, he's not really much tidier than Sherlock. I don't think he'd ever let dirt or garbage collect in their apartment like Sherlock left on his own might, but I do think he embraces clutter stacking and sometimes it's Billy who throws his hands in the air and starts organizing just so he can find some table space under all the books and scientific doodads to put his fruit basket down when he comes to visit.
Really more canon than headcanon, but he loves teaching. He can't help himself; everywhere he goes he ends up teaching someone something. And he's good at it: it never comes across as condescending, he's just genuinely helpful and knowledgeable and always provides useful information in an accessible way.
Even once he's no longer actively self-destructive, it takes a while for him to learn to take good care of himself. He sometimes forgets to eat or hydrate or sleep properly and then gets dizzy and woozy. Sherlock and Billy team up to nudge him towards food or water or bed as needed until he starts to listen to his own body's signals better.
He prefers the country to the city and really likes being outdoors in clean environments.
He really doesn't like the name "William," considering its origins, so it makes him happy that most of the people he loves call him other things or variations: "Brother," "Will," or Liam." He does like the name James, because Albert gave it to him.
He's never really been in the right group, because he's pretending to be someone older than he is. His classmates were older than him, and his students were closer in age to him than they should be, and his friends and family all kind of worshiped him, and it always felt like he never quite had peers. Sherlock is his first real playmate. And sometimes they're just like a pair of big kids goofing off together. One time between missions they played a giant game of hide-and-seek across three states and four weeks and Billy almost had a heart attack because he couldn't find either of them and the bosses were breathing down his neck about a new job.
Definitely a biter.
Likes the ocean.
He's super sentimental. The card from Moran is FAR from the only item he's kept from his loved ones over the years. Basically anything that someone he cares about hands him even casually gets squirreled away somewhere. Sherlock's math exam? Kept that. A flower Fred gave him? Dried and pressed and kept. Every gift Albert and Louis ever gave him? Treasured endlessly. And so on. Also he and Sherlock definitely have something symbolic of wedding rings. IDK what, but something.
He likes animals in general, but especially dogs. For some reason I always picture him and Sherlock post-canon having like Irish Setters or some kind of spaniels. Something with floppy ears.
I just really love him. 😭

Stood shoulder-to-shoulder in a crowd of 100,000 people in central London, a helicopter hovering above St James’s Park could be heard over the hushed crowd.
The hum was only a little louder than the rustling of winter coats and rhythm of feet along the pavement past old Fleet Street watering holes, less a march than a shuffle.
No flares were launched, no masks were worn. No vehicles were damaged and police acted as helpful hi-vis markers of the route, unburdened by the threat of violence.
The dozens of riot vans brought in from across the South East sat unused.
The 1,000 police on duty had an easy day’s overtime compared to the demonstrations of recent weeks.
“No, nothing at all. It’s been very calm,” one female officer told a protester who asked how her day was going.
One helped a bedraggled wayward jogger find his way out of the crowd and towards a less congested route.
More marshal than law enforcement
Another gave a child on his father’s shoulders a high-five, before getting a pat on the back and a thanks from a Jewish man wearing a Kippah.
Their role felt more marshal than law enforcement, with only two arrests made.
The biggest furore of the day was when Tommy Robinson appeared.
He was forced to leave by police, unwanted by the Jewish organisers of the event.
Tumblr media
Boris Johnson, pictured above, received a much better reception, prompting cheers that broke the quiet when he arrived with wife Carrie and five-month-old Frank, chatting to demonstrators surrounding him.
David Baddiel, Judge Rob Rinder, Rev Richard Coles and Rachel Riley were all spotted in the hordes who had turned up to march against anti-Semitism along with the Chief Rabbi.
”Since Oct 7, on the streets of London, we have heard chants for jihad, for intifada and from River to the Sea,” said Sir Ephraim Mirvis.
“But today we stand on the same streets of London and say with regard to our precious hostages: Bring Them Home.”
He headed up the mass of people moving through the Strand and towards Parliament Square.
There was an awkwardness to the crowd’s chants. Many, on their first march, preferred to keep quiet than to join in the singing, with tunes dying out in moments.
‘It’s a bit tame! What do we chant?’
Some picked up last-minute Israeli flags on wooden sticks for £5 from outside Tube stations while others braved the drizzle wearing theirs like capes.
“It’s a bit tame, isn’t it? What do we chant?” wondered Olivia, a Jewish woman in her late 20s, there with her boyfriend and their friend.
Elsewhere, a mother pushing her baby in the pram walked her golden cocker spaniel puppy alongside.
Only when calls of “bring them home” began echoing around the streets did the heft of tens of thousands of people in mourning become apparent.
Three twenty-something men using a small megaphone led a rendition of Am Yisrael Chai. As hundreds join in, one jokes that he “does weddings too”.
They carried a banner stating “Failure to condemn Hamas is anti-Semitic”.
Another sign saying “Give me antipasti, not anti-Semitism” became a prop for protesters to pose with, while a child was heard reading another out loud “Spread hummus, not hate”.
Jews were supported by non-Jews. Six-year-old Claudia held her mother Antonia’s hand as the family joined the rally because they were “appalled that anti-Semitism has returned to Britain’s streets”.
Mark Elliott-Smith, a  priest at Our Lady of the Assumption Warwick Street, said: “I thought I had to be here and show solidarity. I’ve been on a few of the demonstrations. When I wrote something about it [anti-Semitism], I was called ‘a Nazi priest’.”
‘I’d feel safer in Israel than in Britain’
Rev Coles, bringing up the rear of the protest, said he had joined because many of his Jewish friends now feel frightened to walk down the street. “I find that intolerable,” he said.
Rueben and Natalie, a young, Jewish, married couple with family in Israel came out to march.
Natalie said that she would “feel safer in Israel, even as the bombs are falling, than in Britain”, her husband nodding wearily. His three brothers live there already.
“At least in Israel you feel like the state is looking after us, that the police are there to protect you, that the whole nation is with you,” he said. “It doesn’t feel like that here.”
The protest culminated with speeches from political and religious leaders.
Anti-Semitism ‘a stain on our country’
The crowd’s reception to the speakers was muted at first, but immigration minister Robert Jenrick won over the crowd in Parliament Square, telling the thousands packed around Parliament that anti-Semitism “is a stain on our country”.
“Your government will not rest until each and every one of [the hostages] is back in the loving embrace of their families. We stand with Israel,” he went on.
Peter Kyle, there as member of the shadow cabinet and vice chairman of Labour Friends of Israel, spoke after Mr Jenrick warmed the crowds up.
“After the most shameful period in my party’s history, I am enormously proud of the leadership Keir Starmer has shown in combating anti-Semitism and standing up for the British Jewish community,” he said.
It was this that drew the biggest cheer of the afternoon, before the crowd went quiet again as they began their journey home.
Gideon Falter, the chief executive of Campaign against Antisemitism which organised the march, said: “The voice of decency has been heard today.”

Chapter 1
Merida Owens lived alone in a small one story house that she was renting in the mountains of North Carolina. She was currently working at a daycare in town. She was a toddler teacher. She dreamed of one day becoming a kindergarten teacher. She was working on getting her teaching degree. She was only in her second year. She had been working at the daycare for five years. Since she was 19, she is now 24. In her spare time she loved reading, writing and watching movies. Her favorite actor was Chris Evans. She had seen almost everything he had been in. There were a few she had not seen, either because they didn't interest her or she had never gotten around to watching them or couldn't find them to watch. She also loved her cocker spaniel, Lady. She had gotten her as a graduation gift from her dad when she moved out on her own. She loved posting pictures of her on Instagram. She also loved hanging out with her best friend Tiffany. They had been friends since they were kids. They had grown up together and did just about everything together.

Tumblr media
Isn't she just so cute? I just love her. I love my Lady!
One Monday evening in May Merida was sitting on her couch with lady watching her favorite movie, Gifted with Chris Evans. The movie had just started when she got a text.
Tiffany- Girl! Have you seen this?
Tumblr media
The Actor Chris Evans is working on his next movie. Its called Red Sea Diving Resort. It stars Chris Evans as an Israeli Mossad agent who runs a covert operation that helps Ethiopian- Jewish refugees escape to safe haven in Israel. It is due to come out in July.
Merida- Yeah I saw. I'm not sure that is my kind of movie. It looks intense!
Tiffany- We should go see it! It might be good.
Merida- Maybe. We will see.
Tiffany- hey come on! Chris is in it! And he is just hot! You can just go and drool over him. Lol
Merida- Yeah! Lol
Tiffany- Anyway. What are you up to?
Merida- watching Gifted
Tiffany- how did I know you were going to say that? You are always watching that movie or one of the marvel movies.
Merida- Hey! I love them they are my favorite.
Tiffany- Yeah cause Chris Evans is in them.
Merida- 😊 I wont deny that. I just love him!
Tiffany- Are we still hanging out this weekend when you get off work?
Merida- yep! Are you still staying the night?
Tiffany- Yep! Girls weekend! I can't wait! I'm so excited!! Oh I loved your latest post on Instagram of Lady. That was just cute!
Merida- I know! I just love her.
Tiffany- Well I'll talk to you later. I need to go. Love ya
Merida- love you too.
Merida finished watching her movie. Then after turning everything off she headed to the bathroom. Lady followed behind her. She took out her contacts, washed her face, and brushed her teeth then headed her bedroom. She changed into her pjs and climbed into bed. Lady jumped up on the bed side her and curled up next to her and they both feel asleep. Merida had a dream that night about Chris Evans. She often dreamed about him, but nothing like this dream.
Dream
"Girl! I can't believe your engaged to Chris Evans!" Tiffany said
"I know. Its just a dream come to. I can't believe that in a month I will be Mrs. Evans!"
"You are so lucky! And the press has been going crazy! I think you made all the girls jealous and are upset that Chris is off the market and no longer a bachelor."
Merida laughs, "yeah I know."
"Are you seeing him tonight?"
"Yes, he is coming over and we are watching movies I think."
"Fun. Well I'll let you go so you can get ready."
"Alright girl. I'll see you later."
Just as she hung up the phone there was a knock on her door. Merida opened the door to find Chris dressed in a button up blue shirt and jeans.
"Hey beautiful!"
"Hey handsome."
Chris leans forward and kisses Merida on the lips. "I've missed my girl."
"Missed me? You just saw me yesterday."
Chris laughs. "I know but that was 24 hours ago!"
Merida laughs again. "Come on in. I have the pizza in the oven. It should be ready soon. Movies are on the coffee table. Go pick the first one."
"Yes mam."
Chris heads over to the couch and sits down. He looks through the stack of movies.
"I love how most of them are Disney!"
"Well, we both love Disney."
"Very true. We do. Ooo. Lets do Oliver and Company first!"
"Good choice. You can go ahead and put it in. I'll be right there."
Merida gets out the plates and glasses. She knows Chris will drink water like her, since she doesn't have beer. She doesn't drink and hardly ever has anything else other than milk and juice. After taking the cups of water into the living room the timer on the oven goes off.
After she cuts the pizza and has two slices on the plates she carries them into the living room and sits next to Chris on the couch. They eat and watch the movie. After eating their pizza they put their plates on the coffee table and then snuggle up together on the couch.
"I can't wait to marry you and have you be my wife."
"Aww, I can't wait to marry you and you be my husband. I will be Mrs. Evans! Wow. I still can't believe it. How did I get so lucky to have you?"
"I'm the lucky one to have such a beautiful fiancé." He says then leans in and kisses her. It is passionate kiss.
Merida is awoken from her dream by her alarm. She looks down at Lady who is looking up at her.
"I know girl. I'm not ready to get up. I loved that dream. I have never dreamed anything like that before. I mean yes I dream about him all the time. But I have never dreamed that I'm going to marry him. Usually it is just we met and hang out and stuff. Anyway, we need to get up."
Merida stretches and climbs out of her bed and gets ready for her day. After she is showered and dressed she heads into the kitchen. She fills Lady's bowl and then grabs her coffee which she adds creamer too, and her cereal. After her teeth are brushed she grabs her stuff and heads to work.
Her day goes by slow. Her kids ware her out. She always plays with them and runs with them outside and is tired when nap time comes. During nap time she gets on Instagram.
She sees this post from Chris

I agree! When I have a hard day I like to snuggle up with my girl Lady! Merida's post Disneydoggrl83❤️ This is the look I got this morning when my alarm went off. Neither one of us wanted to get up!
Tumblr media
Merida scrolled on Instagram for the remainder of nap time. After Nap time she got her kids up and changed and they ate snack and played a little inside before they headed outside for the remainder of the day. After Merida has cleaned up her room for the day and her last kid had left she headed home. When she got home she was greeted by lady. "Hey girl! Miss me? I'll feed you in a minute." Merida put her stuff away then fills ladies bowl and grabs herself a salad and sat down on the couch. She popped in captain America the first avenger. While She watched she scrolled Instagram.

It's not national pet day lol, but I wanted to share this memory with you. I will never forget the moment I first met him. I knew what his name would be right away!
Disneydoggrl83❤️liked Awww. That is cute. I remember the first day I got my Lady. It was a special wonderful day that I will never forget!
After Merida finished her movie she cleaned up then got ready for bed and climbed under the covers. Lady climbed up on the bed beside her and they both went to sleep.

General Rated Fics (2) Masterlist
part one
a game of chance (ao3) - danhoweiis
Summary: Phil worked at Chance and Counters, a board game cafe in North East London. One definite perk of the last few weeks had been the guy who Phil was now delivering a coffee too. Phil had been smitten from the second he stepped through the door which was something he now wished he hadn’t told his friend and manger Nate, so he could have saved himself being teased every time Cute Dan (as Phil had affectionately called him after overhearing someone say his name) came in
all the world’s a stage (ao3) - croissantbleu
Summary: As an openly queer actor and a vocal activist for the community, Dan Howell wasn't exactly surprised when a news outlet contacted him to offer him an interview and his picture on the cover of their Pride edition, but he wasn't quite expecting what this interview, and this reporter, would lead to.
call it fiction (ao3) - writtennotsung
Summary: Dan works in bookstore and Phil comes in with a request that makes Dan want to learn more about him.
Daniel’s Spaniels (ao3) - bathildabagshott
Summary: Dan owns a dog rescue. Phil volunteers to help.
*ft. doggos, cute boys, and coffee*
Forever Home (ao3) - possumdnp
Summary: Phil’s wanted a dog for as long as he can remember, and now that he and Dan are moving into their new house, it’s the perfect opportunity. But there’s just one problem: Phil’s allergic to dogs.
Going Nuts (ao3) - schnaf
Summary: Dan is going nuts in Manchester. But one midnight trip to the supermarket changes everything.
jump a lil higher (ao3) - snsk
Summery: Dan co-hosts The Breakfast Show. Phil's his new producer. They fall in love, assisted by a bunch of romcom tropes I refuse to apologise for.
Keep It Down (ao3) - INeverHadMyInternetPhase (BirbWatcher)
Summery: Phil wants a quiet life. That's all he's asked for. He doesn't want the new neighbour to blast music at him at 2 in the morning, so if he would kindly stop then that's all Phil needs
Let Me Down Gently (ao3) - ineverhadmyinternetphase
Summary: AU in which Dan is (briefly) a lawyer, until he gets fired and kicked out by his girlfriend. Wandering alone at night looking for a place to stay, he happens across a slightly strange man who introduces himself as Phil and who owns a B&B. Without much choice, Dan takes up the offer to stay there, and quickly grows to have a certain fondness for Phil. There’s only one problem: Phil runs the B&B with his long-term partner Alex.
Middle Of Nowhere (ao3) - det395
Summery: Phil's an apprentice at a library who is drawn to a regular visitor with fluffy hair and a questionable attitude
No One Less Than Perfect (ao3) - CanDanAndPhilNot (enbycalhoun)
Summery: Dan doesn't mind being a single father to his four-year-old Elizabeth, but sometimes he gets lonely. The problem is, he won't settle for anyone who is less than perfect. So maybe, he might just ask Elizabeth's (and maybe his) favorite Daycare worker, Phil on a date.
Of Cats and Dogs (ao3) - GabbyGums
Summery: In which Dan gets roped into taking care of his friend's dog, and Phil somehow gets hold of a cat.
This can only mean chaos.
Operation Cupid (ao3) - nebulous_frog
Summery: Dan and Phil are rival camp counsellors- Dan leads an aesthetic cabin and Phil’s cabin is just a mess of arts and crafts supplies and glitter. Maybe their campers can finally make them see how good they are together through a cunning plan they like to call “Operation Cupid”.
Paying In Naivety - xinyanhowell
Summary: “My friend bet me twenty dollars that I wouldn’t walk up to a random underclassmen and ask them to prom, well now I’m twenty dollars richer and no, that doesn’t invalidate the offer, you’re actually kind of cute.”
Rags and Riches (ao3) - Phandabbydosey
Summery: Spoilt brat Philip Lester is used to having all his problems solved for him, even his problems with the law. Fed up with his attitude and behaviour, Phil’s parents refuse to buy him out of trouble and Phil soon finds himself sentenced to community service, where he comes across a homeless boy with deep brown eyes who might be able to change the way Phil sees the world entirely.
Sea Glass (ao3) - kae_karo
Summery: Phil arrives on the Isle of Man to house-sit at his family's cabin while it's repaired and sold. Except the cabin's in far worse shape than expected, and Phil's got to find somewhere else to stay
stardust trail leading back to you (ao3) - toffeelemon
Summery: Phil is a full time alien conspiracist, a PhD dropout using his extensive Astronomy knowledge to justify his quarter life crisis of running around London all day chasing so-called aliens.
Phil just desperately wants to believe that he is not alone in the universe.
Agent D is the best Men in Black agent that London has ever seen in the last decade, promptly forgotten, dismissed and excluded from human society. He likes it that way. An emotionally constipated galactic agent only has so much room in his heart for a handful of extraterrestrial immigrants.
Until a particularly persistent man keeps disrupting missions, and a permanent fixture by the name of rookie Agent P eventually carves a space into Dee’s lonely existence.
The Wallflower’s Guide to Love (ao3) - Art3misPlayerOne
Summery: Dan is a brilliant but painfully shy and awkward guitar player in a popular local band who prefers to hide from the spotlight. He's content to lose himself in his playing and avoids friendships and emotional attachments, but an accidental run-in with a mystery boy inspires him to reach out to him through anonymous texts.
Too scared that the boy will be disappointed in the real him, Dan doesn't want to reveal his identity and risk losing their surprising connection. When forced to choose between his anonymity and putting his heart on the line, help from an unexpected friendship pushes him far beyond his comfort zone, but will it be too little too late?
TM (ao3) - strawberrysunflower
Summery: He’s the stupidest contestant they’ve ever had on the show, Dan thinks to himself. He bamboozles everyone in a two mile radius whenever he’s let loose on set. He’s hurt himself so often he sends their medical team into absolute panic. He has less ‘problem-solving’ skills and more ‘problem-creating’ skills.
But Dan can’t tear his eyes away as Phil rushes around putting together a plan for his task. Phil Lester is, in Dan’s opinion, a bit of a genius.
Tumble Into His Arms (ao3) - nebulous_frog
Summery: Dan is a swing dancing instructor that teaches a confused and clumsy Phil how to dance. Cue tripping and falling, flirting, and some teasing from some friends.

Hi sweet girl I hope you’re well and had a nice Saturday 💖
After talking about dogs last night and finding those pics I did I can’t stop thinking about it and now I just want one. But my new apartment doesn’t allow it 😭 I was talking to my bestie too and she just said to print out the picture of the dog I want, put it up on my mirror and just manifest hahaha.
What kind of cat do you have girly, what’s their name and what are they like? xx
Hello my love I’m v v hungover today but my Saturday was good, I caught up with some friends and it was so nice to see them.
What a shame you can’t have a dog in your new place, can you have any pets at all? Maybe later on in life? I can’t imagine life without a pet I’ve always had cats growing up and me and my family are huge cat lovers! But I love dogs too, I love all animals. What sort of dog would you like? My friend has a springer spaniel and he’s very cute but he is nuts! If I ever got a dog I think I’d go for a Labrador, they are such sweet gorgeous dogs, my bf’s sister has one and he’s so lovely but he’s pretty big and he eats LOADS ha ha I don’t know how she keeps up!
I have a beautiful boy cat, he’s not any fancy breed, he’s amazing and he’s so friendly he literally follows me around the house and sits waiting for me to get home. My bf says he is more like a dog! He has the sweetest nature, loves curling up on my lap and belly rubs. He’s quite an old boy now I can’t imagine him not being around he’s been with me through all sorts and I love him dearly 😻

survey #117
(taken february 21st; uploading surveys taken while gone)
Have you ever sat under a bridge? Yes, when fishing with Dad.
Do you ever go fishing or do you find it to be cruel? ^ lol what a coincidence. If you're fishing for food, I'm fine with it, but fishing solely for fun is absolutely something I find cruel nowadays. You are terrifying the life out of and damaging that animal and putting it back in the dirty water with an open wound. I'm not gonna lie and say I wouldn't still go if Dad asked me to because that was our "thing" growing up, and we also barely ever see each other, so I would suck it up in that case.
Do you have trouble remembering people’s names? Absolutely yes. You're lucky as hell if I remember your name early.
What’s your favorite kind of tree? Wisteria. I adore weeping willows, too.
Do you like mozzarella sticks? No.
Do you share any of the same favorite bands as your parents/guardians? Ozzy is like, Mom's second-favorite artist after Metallica, I'm pretty sure. I know he's WAY up there. She likes loads other bands that I like too. Dad's favorite is Van Halen (that I know of), who I also really enjoy, but they're not a real "favorite."
Have you ever been in a wedding? I was a bridesmaid in my sister's, yes. I was supposed to be one in another sister's wedding as well, but at this time Mom was diagnosed with cancer and going through chemo so getting to Ohio was out of the question. I'm pretty sure Misty had the ceremony filmed for Mom; she is basically THE only mother she's ever had and desperately wanted her there, but she of course completely and entirely understood why it wasn't reasonable.
Who’s the last person’s birthday that you celebrated? What’d you do? My niece Emerson's. Per usual for my sister's kids' parties, we really just got together at her place with family and friends, chatted, ate, let the kids play.
Are your parents divorced? If so, when did it happen? Yeah. I was like, 17-ish.
Have you ever attended a bachelorette party? No.
What do you take pictures of most often? My cat, lol.
Have you ever gotten your period more than once in a month? I feel like this has happened once? Maybe?
What’s the smallest animal that you’re afraid of? Ticks, most likely. I am TERRIFIED of them.
What was your parents’ opinion on same-sex relationships? Mom is totally for them. I don't know about Dad, but just knowing who he is as a person/the general gist of how he thinks, he probably thinks it's unnatural or weird. He was perfectly decent to Sara when she visited though and he met her, and he knew we were dating.
What’s one alcoholic beverage that you do not enjoy? I've never tried a wine I enjoyed.
Have you ever had someone throw up on you before? No, I'd basically rather die.
Do you prefer pads or tampons, if you need them? I hate both honestly, but I semi-recently went back to pads.
How old did your oldest pet live to be? What kind of pet was it? I'm pretty sure that would be my dog Teddy. He made it to 13. He was a beagle/cocker spaniel mix.
What’s the best movie without a happy ending? The Boy in the Striped Pajamas comes to mind. It's sad as absolute hell, but the ending FUCKING haunts you. It shoves in your face the absolute evil humanity is capable of, and to never, ever let an event like the Holocaust happen EVER again.
What is something you think is actually better about today’s generation? I think each generation is getting better at being accepting of people they don't understand and even encouraging them to be themselves, even if they don't "get it." Also very worth mentioning is how mental health problems are being noticeably destigmatized.
What’s the worst episode of your favorite TV show? It's not that it's a bad episode story-wise or how it's portrayed or anything, but the MM episode where Flower dies just fucking destroyed me, and I'd probably still cry if I re-watched it.
Which fictional character do you think you’d be great friends with? Clearsight from Wings of Fire.
Do you have the same religious beliefs as your parents? Absolutely not. Both are Christians, while I quite seriously abhor religion.
What’s your favorite Led Zeppelin song? "Kashmir" is fucking iconic.
Who would you call a lyrical genius? Otep Shamaya.
Who supports you financially? Mostly Mom, but also my dad.
Who knows the most about you (besides yourself)? Mom, maybe? Though there are types of things I don't share with her that I do with select others.
Would you be/are you a good role model to a younger sibling? I know I'm not. No one would ever guess Nicole is my "little" sister given how successful, independent, and capable she is. It kinda hit me like a meteor recently how I don't think I've ever heard either of my sisters say anything along the lines of them being proud of me or anything, ever. I very genuinely think I'm embarrassing to both of them.
Who was the last non-relative woman you spoke to in person? A lady at the social security office.
What’s a topic you’ve drastically changed your opinion on? A metric shit-ton of things truly, but one of the strongest and most drastic is my view on gay rights. I used to be a homophobic/transphobic Christian, and now I very sincerely wish I could strangle that bitch. I am VERY pro-LGBTQ+ now and have been for many years.
How many bedrooms does your house have? TECHNICALLY three, but the extra bedroom is this spare kind of "office" room I have where I sit at the computer.
Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis? No, and let's PLEASE keep it that way. That shit sounds terrifying.
Does the thought of having wrinkles when you’re older upset you? Not really, I mean, literally every single person who lives a truly full life gets there... I don't WANT them, but knowing I will doesn't upset me.
Do you know anyone who’s struggling with addiction? Yes. I mean all things considered, I myself am. Granted, I'm not addicted to anything that is in itself dangerous, like drugs or alcohol or self-harm, but the severity of how reliant I am on technology/the Internet is ABSOLUTELY an addiction and it severely does control my life.
Are any other members of your household home right now? Mom's home, yeah.
Were you upset when you found out certain things weren’t real? (santa, tooth fairy...) Not *upset*, no. By the time I learned those things weren't real, I'd totally suspected it. Of course I wanted them to be real, 'cuz I mean what kid DOESN'T want to believe in fun, magical stuff like that, but I wasn't upset at all.
Name something you’re proud of. Brag a little bit. I really am proud of myself for how dedicated I'm being in job-hunting. It feels FUCKING GOOD to FINALLY be in a place where I feel like if I find the right conditions, I really can work. I'm checking the Indeed website every single day, searching various terms or job titles that I think might bring up something worth investigating, and I refuse to stop until I find something.
Where would you like to go right now? I miss Girt already lol, I wish he was here or I was at his place, but he's working today. He stayed late last night (and it takes him around 30 minutes to get home) so he's probably a zombie right now.
Do you pay any attention to celebrity drama? Uh no, I could NOT care less.
What’s been an embarrassing phase you went through? If the "s0 raNdOM XDDD!!!!" pre-teen Brittany manifested as her own human being, I would LITERALLY set out on a quest to murder her and bury her miles underground lmfao
What’s the ugliest animal in your opinion? Probably like, the blobfish lmao.
What about cutest? Meerkats. Call it a bias, but COME ON, they're foot-tall little furry dudes with big eyes and make cute noises and can stand on their hind legs thinkin' they're all big 'n' shit, I FUCKING love them.
Are you good at math? No, and I've gotten worse and worse the older I've gotten. Whenever numbers are involved in honestly like, anything, I just CANNOT interpret information. Like you can explain and explain and explain, and I'm just NOT going to understand. It's honestly extremely embarrassing, just how bad my ability to understand math is.
Have you given any thought about what the Christian god looks like? How they think their devil looks. :^)
What’s your most used emojis? Most likely the sobbing one. I use it for both obviously sad cases but probably even more so like the "crying from laughing" kind of way.
Who’s one of the most talented people you know? What are they talented at? That's... so hard, picking just one. I absolutely consider Tez very high on this list, given his fantastic art skills, in a serious plethora of forms. I also think he's a very strong writer with FANTASTIC character-building skills.
Have you ever experienced a medical emergency? Yes. Off the top of my head, a concussion and a cold medicine overdose. I don't THINK breaking my wrist was a real medical emergency, like I obviously wasn't dying or at any serious, life-threatening risk.
Are you muscular? Uh, NO.
Do you have one of those removable hand-held shower heads? Yes; they're kinda mandatory for me anyway, using a shower chair. Even when I could comfortably shower standing up though, I very much preferred when you could remove them because I found it much easier to thoroughly get soap off everywhere.
How many burners does your stove have? Four.
When you go to a restaurant, do you prefer to sit at a booth or a table? Booth.
Has your car ever been broken into? No.
What genre was the last song you listened to? Who provided the vocals? Uh Asking Alexandria is some kind of heavier metal, but the song is a Nine Inch Nails cover, and I have no idea what you'd consider the genre of the OG bc I don't really listen to or like that band. The singer of Asking Alexandria at the time was Danny Worsnop, apparently.
Do you have any medical appointments coming up anytime soon? Always, honestly... I know I'm fucking finally seeing an endocrinologist soon, I think next month or the one after.
Have you heard anyone singing today, or has anyone sung in your presence? Besides listening to music, no, I don't think so.
What food or drinks makes your teeth hurt? Ice cream absolutely can.
Who did you last hold hands with? Girt.
Do you have a loud or more soft laugh? I'm a fucking hyena stg
Is there anyone who makes you smile no matter what mood you’re in? Girt seriously can.
Have you ever stargazed with someone? Kinda, I guess.
Are there any things coming up that you have to travel for? Uhhhh not that I know of. I know Mom wants to go back up to New York, but it's looking like she MIGHT be reconciling with and seeing her absolute rancid shitbag of a brother that nearly tore the family apart after their mom died, and I told her I fucking REFUSE to go if we're staying at his house. I won't even visit that fucking house, ever again. He is no family of mine. My mom is way more forgiving than I am, but what's wild is it's not like Rob has changed at all... The law just squeezed him into doing what he had to do if he didn't want to go to jail. Her other brother Bill, who REALLY dealt with Rob and his catastrophic bullshit, is on the same page as me; he refuses to call him family ever again. I'll stay with HIS family if we go up there. I absolutely adore his wife and want to see her again anyway.
What’s one of your biggest accomplishments today? I actually very thoroughly did my PT exercises. More than I usually do, with more focus, and the appropriate number of sets. I FELT it. I'm getting better about doing them as time passes; it's just been a challenge to remember them and solidify them into my routine.
What was the name of the main character in the last book you read? In the one I'm currently in the process of reading, his name is Turtle.
What was the last pill you took? Ibuprofen. I had a headache. Probably from staying up all night last night and only allowing myself to sleep like, 2-3 hours in the morning...
If you were a rockstar, what color guitar would you have? Ehhhh maybe black, but with a cool design or texture on it.
What are three other names you like that start with the same letter as your name? Uhhh Bianca, Bella, and uh... Belle? Not many come to mind that I really love.
Have you ever met a Jason that you didn’t like? A Jason scarred me for life, lmfao, but I don't not like him.
What was the name of the person who bullied you the most in high school? Just Rachel, really. But that was brief... ish.
