reading howls moving castle again as a treat and am struck yet again by what a great character calcifer is. he’s an ethereal spirit of light. no he’s a contract-for-your-soul demon. actually he’s just a little guy. phenomenal cosmic power itty bitty living space ass guy. he doesn’t feel emotions except for all the emotions he has. needs a workers union. eats eggshells as a snacky. can disguise himself as nearly anything. has to concentrate really hard to make a little arm. shared a soul with a wizard for a few years. scared of rain. nigh omnipotent. very shy with strangers. he’s even in a throuple

Random Thoughts

I keep thinking about Season 3, Episode 2: “The Stuff of Heroes” of X-Men: Evolution, where Rogue saw her face on the news and is dismayed that she “looks fat.”

And, well…

I’m not sure if the writers forgot that her overall body shape looks like this…

Or this is the particular part they are referencing that makes her “fat.”

‘She has the biggest breasts of all the girls’ is what was written, btw.

In that same episode, before she made that comment, we already see some characters searching through the Brotherhood’s things and eyeing the size Fred/The Blob’s clothing, but apparently that wasn’t enough of a joke?

Anyway, maybe they had her say that to reinforce her low self-esteem, but c’mon. I love this show, yet while the amount of times they make fat jokes is not that much, it still seems to come out of nowhere with some of them 😅

Whelp, regardless of how truly bigger she is or not than the other female characters, Scott scooping her up onto his shoulder like she weighed almost nothing is always a treat to remember and see. 🥰🥰🥰

Y'know one of my favorite things to do when creating non-egg characters for my stories is to imagine what their cc would be like

When I made Doll I made her with the concept of "this is her cc's Vtuber" I mean of course they aren't canonical content creators, but also in the same way any Q character isn't a content creator. does this make sense

has anyone else done this for their characters?

the idea of goodra first reuniting with greninja (and wait, aren't they-?!) but not under the best circumstances with the vines being rampant in the wetlands and them leaving immediately... then, next time they meet in the wetlands, the trio retreats there; but it's not really under the best circumstances either...

It actually does look very worrying from Goodra's side at the start for sure once I think about it, lol. Before then the last time Goodra has seen any sign of Greninja was back with Ash, and Ash left them to the wetlands, said farewell and was at peace with it. The world was supposed to be at peace. The Crisis was adverted, right?

Greninja comes back not once, but twice.

The first time was harrowing. The vines were running over the land, thick and inky and pulsing with hatred that made the air thick and hard to breath. Florges is rounding up the Pokemon and watching over them-- Goodra is fighting them back, remembering the face of a madman as he talks about his perfect world come sunrise. The vines have that same red glow.

Right when a vine comes too close for comfort, the Ice Beam shattering under its deceptively quick speed, an attack slices through it like butter with the swordswielder to match. But it's no human, no, nor just any other Pokemon, but Greninja, the icy and resilent Pokemon belonging to Ash, power behind every masterful stroke, followed by a Legendary that Goodra has only ever seen in the Crisis. They make quick work of the vines, make brisk talk to evaluate the safety of everyone around, before leaving.

Greninja said he wouldn't come back again unless needed. Goodra tries to ask for the reason, but they are too fast, and Greninja was always faster than them, even back when they were a Frogadier and a Goomy, and Florges tells them to leave it. After all, the problem is solved.

But Greninja does not come to the wetlands once, but twice, and the second time is worse because there is no sign this time. The lands are clean, the Pokemon are enjoying themselves, and Goodra found no issues around. But Greninja is back, and this time he is weak, him and his friends as well. Goodra still feels at fault for it sometimes. They should've known. They should've helped, told them to take it easy, force them too if necessary (Goodra can never force someone, it's true, but Greninja didn't know that).

Goodra helps. That's one thing they can do. Goodra listens, and guides, and tells them what they can. The second time was worse, but maybe the third time didn't need to be, should they want it too. And the fourth, and the fifth and the sixth.

They are a team, no matter where their Trainer are. And teammates help each other. Especially with world-ending vines of doom.

(Greninja can never help seeing the shadow of his friends with every piece of help, but Goodra didn't need to know that.)
