Cold Hearted by Heather Guerre (Tooth and Claw #1). @matsuoclan has the BEST book recommendations, oh my god. Grace moves to a remote town in Alaska to escape her past, and finds a new family, and more besides. Explores the themes of loneliness and depression with a supernatural twist, with a sprinkle of enemies to lovers. Love this book, will devour the series >:3

Ruby and the Wolf by Clover Down. @dominimoonbeam remains one of my favourite PNR writers. After putting her life on the line for a stranger, Ruby finds herself on the run from vampires with the wolf she saved. SO STEAMY. SO GOOD.

Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert. A werewolf falls head over heels for a hunter. SO GOOD. SO FUN. READ IT.

The Lone Wolf's Rejected Mate by Cate C Wells. Another book rec from a moot that I devoured. Wells is a guilty pleasure, and this is my favourite of this series. Deals with trauma, mind the content warnings, Darragh has my heart.

@monstersandmaw - Gabe and Odessa, complete, full novel. I cannot tell you how many times I've read this story. It's a comfort read okay. Slow burn. Odessa, lawyer, escaping the city, moves into a small cabin in the woods and meets Gabe, a park ranger, with more to him than it seems. Just a beautiful story.

@snowkissedmonsters - Candy and the wolves. Explores poly dynamics between a wolfpack and the human waitress Candy who is their mate. Gorgeous art to accompany it too!

were in a call of the netherdeep campaign and i decided to play finn in it!!! these are some quick sketches ive done since we started along with some design work for cesare, finn, and pappy up top.

tiefling is cesare, were doing toxic yaoi its fun. girlfailure/borzoi werewoof is viatrix. she rolls crit fails like its her job, the big guy with his boobs out is ash, genasi artificer, who is only with the party bc its convenient, and last but certainly not least is manston “pappy” pumpernickel, who “adopted” finn as his grandson years ago. this party is so fun and were probably going to get our shit rocked next session.

i gave my beloved dm fallon and she has already hurt me with him without us even seeing him, my man is causing PROBLEMS in the background and haunting us from afar. just twin things!!! i updated his look along with finns but all you get is his elbow bc hes still an unknown to the party (the joke that he will be just finn with a shitty pencil moustache is hilarious tho)

also the built in rivals are fantastic and theyre our friends. as a shifty bitch finn will keep them all at arms length like he does anyone else but hey… theyre cute ok. im in love with ayo jabe and WILL be drawing them that is a promise.

So I headcanon HARD that when two shifters bridge, they enter into something like this with each other because the experience of having a whole second body that’s an animal gives them this extra close connection to nature that they then carry with them.

So beyond just “sensing” someone else’s magic, shifters are uniquely able to inhabit a whole sensory experience when the bridge together. (But it’s really only when it’s shifter-to-shifter.)

I and a few others have written fics that include this, and I’m trying to spread the word because like I said I headcanon this so fricking hard I just want it to exist and it’s pretty and I like it and please can I have some more?

“Mike?“ Domingo said as he closed the trailer door.

He didn’t answer, but Domingo quickly saw why: he was hunched over the table, cheek resting in his hand, his head intermittently bobbing up and down.

Domingo walked over and gently put a hand on his shoulder. "Mike,” he repeated.

Mike’s head snapped up with a sharp inhale and a full-body jolt that sent a book tumbling to the floor; Domingo jumped at the noise and the sudden movement. “’m awake,” he said, then yawned wide as he stretched out in his chair, his shirt lifting just past the waist of his jeans. “Sorry for slacking off on the job,” Mike sighed, rubbing his eyes. “The twins are asleep, though.”

Right on cue, there was a dull THUD from their bedroom, followed by a cascade of giggles.

Mike buried his face in his hands with a groan and slumped against the table. “Sorry,” he mumbled. “Should’ve checked.”

“It’s fine,” Domingo said, alarmed at how deeply affected he seemed by a couple of ordinary babysitting mishaps. “They’ve fooled every babysitter they’ve had on their first night, don’t worry about it.” He bent down and gingerly picked up the fallen book. Its hard matte red cover was unadorned and untitled. “What’s this?”

Mike pulled his hands up so his forehead rested in his palms. “My mom’s journal,” he said, as if the words had to be pulled from him like a cork—and like sparkling cider from a shaken bottle, more words flooded out after. “I’ve been trying to find something, anything about her Seer—powers, whatever, I don’t know—anything to tell me what it is that I’m even supposed to be doing, never mind how, but I haven’t found anything, and I’m running out of ideas, and I know everyone’s waiting for me to figure this out—” He cut himself off. “Sorry,” he said again, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his palms.

“What the hell was that?” Domingo hissed as sharply as he dared among the milling mourners.

“Was anything I said wrong?” Constantine grunted.

“He didn’t have a clue what you were talking about, it was plain as day on his face. And even if he did, his mother just died, Constantine. He didn’t deserve the way you treated him.”

“We all have a lot on our plates right now, Dom,” Constantine shot back. “He’s a grown man, he can put in a little effort and get his act together. Frankly, it’s the absolute least he can do, with how much is riding on him. He doesn’t need anyone coddling him.”

“You haven’t even given him a chance,” Domingo said, but Constantine was already walking away.

Domingo put the journal on the table and placed his hand back on Mike’s shoulder. “You don’t have anything to apologize for,” he said, then glanced at the clock on the wall. “And you’re not gonna solve anything by running yourself into the ground. Let’s get you some rest, okay?”

Mike opened his mouth like he was going to argue, then closed it. “Fair enough,” he relented.

Domingo walked over to the closet and started pulling blankets out. “Take my bed,” he said. “I’ll take the couch.”

“No, that’s fine,” Mike said, the fight coming right back to him. “I’ve slept on plenty of floors and couches before, I can manage.”

“So have I,” Domingo shrugged.

“I couldn’t impose—”

“You’re not imposing, I’m offering. And trust me, you could really use a nice mattress.”

Mike grimaced. “Do I look that bad?”

Domingo hesitated. “Well,” he said.

“On second thought, don’t answer that.” Mike chuckled wryly. Pushing himself from his chair with a groan, he said, “Okay—if you’re sure… Fine, I’ll take the bedroom.” He paused. “Thank you.”

“Towels are in here,” Domingo said, gesturing to the closet, “and so are some extra blankets if you need them. There’s the bathroom. And if you need anything, I’m right out here. I’m used to waking up in the middle of the night, so don’t worry about that if something comes up. Okay?”

Mike searched for words in the carpet. “Thank you,” he said one more time, quietly.

“Hey.” Domingo dropped his blankets on the couch and walked back over to Mike. Reaching out to touch his arm, he said gently, “I’m here for you, okay?”

Mike didn’t meet his eyes, but he took a deep breath, shifted his jaw, and nodded.

Satisfied, Domingo bopped his shoulder and started to turn…but stopped and turned back. “…Do you want a hug?” he asked.

That startled a short laugh out of Mike. “Uh… Sure. Yeah, that would be nice.”

So Domingo wrapped his arms around Mike, and Mike wrapped his back around Domingo. And they stood there for a few moments. As Domingo was about to release him, Mike’s shoulders twitched, and then quivered. He pulled him tighter, rubbing his back. “You’re okay,” he murmured. “You’re gonna be okay.”

I have a question regarding your vamps+woofs au! Is there any particular reason why you made which cast member which monster? (Like, why is Nao a vampire and not a werewolf? Or why is Kugie a werewolf and not a vampire?) And do the characters not listed as either monster (such as the other floormasters) have any role to play in the au? The idea seems really fun, so I'm super curious about the conceptual stage!

A lot of which member of the cast is the monster they are is mostly the first thing that came to mind, a lot of this au was brainstormed on the y//ttdcord so ig u could call it collective thought? hshsdjk

most of the thought process was what potential did that character (comedic, dramatic, ect) had! so for example, nao being a vampire made sense since it wouldn’t be out of place for her to be covered in random red splashes cuz she’s an artist!

As for the floormasters, I'm still not really sure what Asunaro would be in the context of this au, but a running idea was maybe vampire hunters?

oh, but safalin and rio are sorta frankenstein situation (mad scientist saf my beloved <33) + miley will prolly be a werewoof,,,

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you? Honestly? Not really! I’m a control freak, and if I have an idea, I wanna write it MYSELF to be sure it is to MY specifications. 

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence? YES! I love IgnatiusTrout (that’s his AO3 handle and I thought he was 6balls here on tumblr but I can’t tag him so who knows) sooo much his was the first drarry I ever read back in like 2017 when I was licking my bbcs wounds lol (thanks for the rec Emily @gryffindorweiwuxian ily). His characters feel like real people, and he doesn’t just handwave Draco’s canon crimes, which I really appreciate. He has a really lovely variety of getting together stories up on AO3 that I just love love love. 

And also my beloved Sally @clytemenestras. He’s writing original fiction about werewolves, so I wrote a drarry fic about werewolves so he wrote a drarry fic about werewolves so I wrote another drarry fic about werewolves. werewoofs cinematic universe <3 also his plots absolutely BANG and his characterization is on point. His AO3 handle is wendlaa, and if you haven’t read A Guide to the Morphology of Magic and subscribed to him in advance of his wonderful werewolf drarry dropping you SHOULD because he’s brilliant!!! 

A big non fandom influence on my writing I think is Jane Austen, because my stories tend to work similarly to hers where people have arch chats and visit each other and eat a little snack and think about their place in the world and it’s all meandering toward a Satisfying Ending.
