DANG WHILE POSTING A REPLY TO SOMETHING I REALIZED I NEVER POSTED THIS REF OF LEVEL 9 ILYA..!!! the old ref was a year old and he needed an upgrade….!!!

under the readmore is the layers of this design and also the old one. my arts improved quite a bit in the year thats passed, but this ref is kind of suffering from being built on the bones of the old one. ah well!! i hope all the ilya likers enjoy!!

(i did not draw the sword, it is an image from the cleveland museum of art’s collection as a stand in. he does wield a big fuckoff zweihander though, it is in fact that big)

ilyas grwm. the pit stains are important. ismark died offscreen as an inciting point for the campaign— i think davey wanted ilya to play the role of “ireena” but also the role that ismark would usually play in a party, which is very cool. rip!!!

i really enjoy thinking of all the layers that would go into a design/armor set. probably a holdover from my fire emblem cosplay days, not that im complaining!! i think you can make way more interesting and grounded designs with a little bit of historical research and thought like this.

aaand the ref from last july. i tweaked this design a bit for the comic but he is wearing that! its very princely but ilya is kind of crunchy and i think the new design kind of shows the growth hes gone through and the horrors we as a party have survived since he got his past life memories back and joined us as a fighter. i like him. a normal amount

Look I put some effort in his design so I'm gonna draw it again.

They tried to cut the net around his fin while he was sleeping. Unlucky for both of them it's extremely sore so he jolted awake, resulting in the biologist getting flung on top of him. His flight or freeze responses are currently duking it out. For the biologists' sake, I hope freeze wins. xD

Ramshackle reads very haunted mansion to me, so leaned into that for the design aesthetic x1000!! ramshackle already has haunted mansion green, and its purples kinda make Grims purple magestone make sense? the crest is still a work in progress...

and landed on the name C.FIN because im very punny and wanted to match the punny themes of the other dorms...

Grim sets the tone for Ramshackle, whose theme i take to be about STORIES and DEATH. (grimms fairy tales, grim reaper, grim grinning ghosts)... Id been scratching my head about it until BINGO!! realized it stared me in the face at the end of every chapter. Fin as in endings... of stories and of ALL things... And C.Fin ("coffin") just to be a lil extra cheeky about it hehehe

i was struggling to exist today but needed to draw SOMETHING… so i did the art equivalent of jangling keys and redrew this old ref of uriel 💀

he is my beautiful bug and his eyes are HUGE… for looking at you with. and never failing an insight check. with his +11 modifier or whatever. love him

back when i made him i had this image in my head of him having really delicate features but i struggled to draw those delicate features for a while honestly. i think thats why im enjoying playing around with the art nouveau insp in my art— delicate pretty wasnt really a thing i felt confident with drawing… in fact it was the thing i was LEAST confident drawing. lmao. i just couldnt pull it off bc i struggled with the balancing act of his proportions and emphasizing the wrong things

wild to look at!! who is that guy! i am cringing posting these but its crazy theyre only a year and some change old.

my depiction of “delicate features” swung a little closer to how i really imagine him when i worked on that animatic of him and strahd that i never finished…

but i still needed to do some practice re: consistency and proportion. i do worry he looks a little too babygirl in this current ref but its fine. i am enjoying the process and thats all that matters. thank u for reading if you read this <3 art is a journey

This one’s name is Coral (not to be confused with Queen Coral, but she was named after her) She’s Bay’s younger sister and an animus. (Her and Bay are friends with Hourglass because they go to a small school of animuses and hybrids. Bay just came with his sister. They have three more dragons in their friend group but who knows when I’ll draw them.)
