TBH i would genuinely love to hear u explain how the scifi elements tie into wep especially frill as a character cause i think like. there were legitimately interesting ideas being set up but the way it was executed was so weird that a lot of them ending up being lost ESPECIALLY with frill who comes across as more of a scapegoat if anything 😭😭

YEAH ITS SOOOO my trick to understanding it all in a neat way is disregarding every part of the finale because it isnt canon to me and i really do not like it. Anyway my personal interpretation of frill and pretty much the entire deeper storyline of wep from a scifi point of view is that she IS thanatos herself (with the girls obviously being the warriors of eros) and IS that temptation of death at least metaphorically. though she obviously isnt the only reason people kill themselves her resentment for humanity and how she has been treated sort of led to her wanting humanity to suffer more and wanting to take more girls down with her, pushing ura acca and acca into a position where they have to actually come to terms with what theyve done and how theyve affected her by making them responsible for starting the whole wonder egg operation in an attempt to save at least the parallel universe versions of any girls affected by the temptation of death. dot and hyphen are extensions of frill though they are more direct with their approach to the temptation of death by actually trying to kill the girls themselves (but instead end up killing their sidekicks provided as sacrifices from ura acca and acca). japan plati ties into all this simply because ura acca and acca founded it and theyre all sort of part of the greater research project taking place all about well. death

just. fuckkkk man. they had such a good start. i dont even completely hate the sci fi elements i honestly rlly like some of it. the parallel universe stuff and everything with ai scracthes my brain sooo good and frill and the ura acca guys were. interesting i guess. and maybe it had potential to add to the show but its a 12 ep anime there was NOT enough time to explore that fully without rushing everything and like the friends not coming back would be tragic but wouldn’t necessarily like. be bad if everything else wasn’t soooo unsatisfying. could have been something about grief and having to move on and let them go since they’ll never really be back but now you have friends and new connections formed through your shared grief but NO!!!!! evil fucked up world.

///Wonder Egg Priority ep 11 spoilers////

This is inspired by what someone on IG said, but I'm thinking that due to the way the Accas programmed Frill and forced her to be in this pseudo childlike state forever, constantly belitting her emotions and flaws based on this misogynistic view of what girls were supposed to be like, it's hard to tell of she knew exactly what she was doing when she killed Azusa. Like Frill obviously wanted to hurt her/the baby, but I'm curious if she even knew that what she was doing was murder or even the weight of said murder? Especially since it was highlighted how the Accas made her "mischievous". Like is it possible she thought she was going to hurt Azusa and get a slap on the wrist? Or even if she did kill her, that she'd get in trouble then it'd be business as usual since she probably didn't know that human death was final?

honestly Wonder Egg Priority was just a disappointing experience. This really sucks because the series had an amazing start, i was hooked right after the first episode and it hurt to watch everything go downhill. that being said, here’s how i would try and fix WEP. I also want to clarify Ai= Ai Ohto, while an uppercase I, AI= artificial intelligence. (sorry for any formatting mistakes, i’m on mobile) also sorry if i misremembered any plot points or spellings, it’s been a while since i watched the original 12 episodes!!

1. One of the parts i was most disappointed with was how each enemy was designed, the first episode was amazing establishing a creepy enemy for Ai to defeat, it fit the tone as well, many of the fears these girls face are serious and terrifying. The neon colored, almost silly looking monsters ruined some of the emersion for me. i wouldn’t have minded as much if the silly designs represented how teenage girls problems are represented/thought about in society but i don’t think that theme was present. So, naturally the designs going forward would bear more of a resemblance to the first episode.

2. Sawaki, i would have liked to keep the parts where Ai states it was all in her mind, all her distrust. but later on it would be revealed Ai was right, and due to those around her discrediting her feelings she would begin to doubt herself, ask herself if any of it really happened. i think an important theme here would be how society defends predatory men. Kioto of course would play a huge part in this narrative, i think a nice internal conflict for Ai would be her desire to really find out what happened to Kioto vs her uncertainty about Sawaki. I would also keep in the art gallery scene, i think it’s really important for establishing his creepy behavior.

3. I wouldn’t take out Frill completely, rather i would change her a bit. I saw a really good analysis that explained she was a metaphor for suicide, or rather the temptation. But i would take away all the bits about her being an AI, i feel as though it goes unexplained and just doesn’t really fit. Frills little buddies would become metaphors for what drives the temptation, bullying, depression etc. I’m not exactly sure what Frill would be in universe, maybe a hallucination?? idk lol.

4. the parallel universe shit was just really confusing and felt like it didn’t have a part in the story so i would get rid of that. I really did like parallel Ai tho :( if there would be a way to still include her but have her be the only mention of parallel universes that would be nice but i feel like it would only make more questions appear.

5. Neiru is like one of my favorite characters so i makes me sad how she was handled in the special. Since i got rid of Frill being an AI in my version of WEP, Neiru would not be one either. I would rather put more emphasis on her storyline of being treated like a robot by plati but learning how to feel and express emotions with the help of her friends. And when her sister is revived she starts to feel guilt and resentment, emotions she has never had towards her sister before, after all, she did everything for herself. She runs away, not knowing how to cope with these feelings, as well as feeling resentment towards her new friends for ‘making’ her feel this was. Eventually Ai, Rika, and Momoe would come and find her, and there would be an emotional confrontation. And afterwards Neiru would start to learn how to cope with emotion, of course it wouldn’t happen super fast and she would still struggle after this confrontation.

Well! I think that’s everything!! Im not really a writer or a creative person so there most likely are plot holes in this fix, but this really was just for fun :)

i wonder if the girls sidekicks in wep were always intended to be sacrifices for dot and hyphen so ura acca and acca could evade losing the girls to frills temptation of death or if they just didnt know and when they died they were like Oh well

I could write paragraphs on how complex Frill's character is and I haven't even watched the episode for myself yet, I just got spoiled.
