wait i literally just got another ask about this LMAO. i am supposed to be going to sleep. BUT. I do think Eddie knows what the kiss meant because his moment of clarity happens BEFORE the kiss. like we could have died and his one thought at that moment is just like. im in love with Buck. and then Buck kisses him (accidentally. or. however you want to call it).

but then I do think he's trying to rationalize it, like not to HIMSELF but to, you know, the symbolic figures for whom he must always live his life (god or his parents or whoever). so he's like well it's very normal to kiss someone after you both almost died. that could happen to anyone. easily. ha ha. and unfortunately this line of reasoning works on Buck (because it's eddie saying it) so Buck is like yes of course. that was not a Real Kiss after all.

but then since they HAVE now kissed, it's just like. very easy to let themselves do it again. and then maybe there's a way to rationalize THAT one, like maybe they'd both had a beer and haha it's fine it's whatever. and Buck is just going along with this until he kisses Eddie one night and Eddie's kind of like ok well what's the rationalization here. and Buck has to just be like well it's--you were just being very cute and i wanted to. and then he's like oh. actually all the kisses were just because i wanted to.
