having completely normal thoughts (gortash wotr au)
#yeah. it’s bad. not thinking about inserting zeke but GORTASH#he’d start out as aeon for sure#his opinions on companions are so fucking awful#not nearly as awful as the kingmaker au ofc. he’d call reg a sick dog that needs to be put down because his incompetent owner failed him#anyways. this is a deranged wotr post.#of course there’s no one among the companions fit to be his/equal status#but i’d say he’d have the most positive opinions of regill and greybor. as positive as a guy thinking of them as his tools can get.#towards greybor it’s like. ok you don’t see yourself as more than a weapon and neither do i. you do your job as long you get paid i can wor#with that.#meanwhile regill he’d love to have as a knight devoted to him instead of him being a hell knight#this of course never fucking works gortash’s weird manipulation would not pull through with regill in this matter#no romance of course. except for manipulative sex with wenduag probably.#he really wants that mongrel army! will pop a fantasy viagra if wenduag needs to be ‘roughly subdued to calm down.’#he’d be a little more into it than usual because he doesn’t need to hold back with her but it’s still not a true subjugation in the end.#until later he’s like ok. i lied i don’t like sex get on the vivisection table#(aro + fucked version of grayace gortash truther if you didn’t know)#tries to refine her and the poison#he’d be awful to her in general. sees a weapon to be refined. she recognizes him as master now but her loyalty is fickle.#he’d earn all the respect flags#but still would punish her greatly for the first sign of betrayal in the abyss#oh and before this gets too long: one more for cam obviously.#sadly i don’t see a world in which he doesn’t immediately see through the mireya story and kill her in act 3#but if he didn’t. it’d be so juicy. him in act 5 learning the full story. how her father talks about her.#just stands there frozen for 10 seconds with a thousand yard stare#<- to then go no i don’t think you should kill him you should [REDACTED GRUESOME TORTURE METHOD THAT KEEPS ONE ALIVE & AWAKETHE ENTIRE TIME#in the end he’d execute her anyways but. hm. he’d get triggered for sure#i have more thoughts but i’m gonna shut up now lmao

Some thoughts about the companions from Pathfinder wotr. BTW I'm now in Act 3 so these might out of character.
How will they react to a crying baby and their parents?
Seelah : She'll volunteer to comfort the baby, even though she's not really good at it. But the baby might stop crying due to her paladin-onesan-energy.
Camellia : Gets very upset, but will ask the parents to calm their baby down politely . The parents might start crying with the baby.
Lann : He doesn't know how to react. He's not confident enough, so he might just ignore it. Depending on the commander's personality, he might willing to try comfort the baby if the commander encourages him to do it.
Wenduag : The reason why the baby cries louder.
Daeran : Ask the parents to shut the baby up in a mocking way. Or he'll give the parents money to get their baby as far away from him as they could.
Nenio : Doesn't even notice them.
Woljif : Go away from them. If he wants to help , he'll do some funny face or show some toys with the baby. But he might start crying with the baby or run away after someone found out the toy is steal.
Ember : Might be the one who's the best at taking care of a baby among these companions. The scene would look like a painting of a Saint holding a baby under a holy light.
Sosiel : Might also good at baby caring like Ember. But if Ember is already there, he might be the one that does the painting, or sketching.
Arueshalae : The parents might keep their baby away from her since she's a demon. However, if she could help, she'll try her best even though she's not good at it.
Regill : Try to convince the parents to treat the baby hard to let them learn diceplent. Or he'll just show them how, and become the reason why baby cries louder.
I don't know much about Greybor so I couldn't came up with any ideas about how he'll react.

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous - party banter
Someone (the herald’s champion) created a list with party banter. Worth to check it out.
There is an interesting romance related dialog between Wenduag and Ember (if Wenduag is romaced by the KC):
Tumblr media
So while Wenduag and Lann were sleeping with each other, it seems they never kissed....

It's funny that the first major choice Minovae makes in the course of WOTR is a chaotic one, Hellknight that she is.
Walking in to the mongrel village that first time, she sees that Lann and Wenduag are the exception to their people. All around her is a village who is defined by starvation and privation. Hollow sunken faces stare at her. Trembling and thin arms shake trying to fish up with meager haul they can.
Lann's idea to rally the village to plunge into the shield maze crumbles instantly in her mind when faced with the reality of the situation. Wenduag is right, these are no warriors. To bring them to battle would be unconsciable.
And so Minovae lies. There was no holy sword of light, Sull. It hurts as she says it and sees the confusion and betrayal on Lann's face, even though they just met.
But even amnesiac as she is, there's something inside her that knows all too well the horrors of civilians pressed to fight a battle they have no chance of surviving.

Femslash February: Hand in Hand
a rare bit of Lilith/Wenduag fluff for the prompt: [ hand ] a chivalrous kiss on the back of the partner's hand
also on ao3
Ash swirls around the skirts of Lilith’s robes as she steps through the fireplace and into the Golarion plane.
The room she finds herself in is a familiar place, and it looks much the same as when she last visited: the sparse furniture, the walls lined with hunting trophies, the simple bedframe with its thin mattress and single blanket. And in the middle of the room- waiting for her, as always- Wenduag. Wenduag has changed, in small ways which Lilith’s hungry attention catalogues immediately. A fresh but faded scar is visible on her left arm; her hair is shaved differently, shorter than Lilith remembers; a new accessory hangs at her neck, a thick cord decorated with the fangs of some unknown creature. But the daring gleam in her eyes is the same as it ever was as she takes in Lilith’s arrival.
“Mistress,” she purrs by way of greeting, sidling up to Lilith with a curled smile. “You’ve kept me waiting.”
“Am I late?” Lilith asks with a raised eyebrow, despite knowing perfectly well that she is, as always, precisely on time. “My apologies, Your Majesty.”
She’s unable to hold back a small smile of pride as she watches Wenduag preen at the address. Her realm is young, all things considered; even with the renown they won in the Crusades, it was no easy task for the mongrels to stake out land of their own. They have been settled in their current location for only a handful of years now, but Wenduag has acted as their leader, their chieftain and queen, for far longer.
And she never tires of hearing the title on Lilith’s lips. Lilith smirks at the thought, and she catches Wenduag’s hand in her own to bring it to her lips. “Queenhood suits you, you know,” she murmurs as she presses a burning kiss to Wenduag’s skin.
“I always said it would, didn’t I?” Wenduag replies, and she laces her fingers through Lilith’s as she pulls herself closer. Her grip on Lilith's hand is tight as she savors the rare proximity of her lover. “Still…I missed you.”
“I missed you, too.”
“How long do we have?”
“A few days.” Not long enough, not when her visits have months between, but it is longer than they have had previously. When Lilith first became a Devil and found herself in charge of her own section of Hell, she could barely get away for a few hours at a time. Her position was hard-won, and Lilith would not give it up for anything…but she does wish it afforded her more opportunities like this. The only reason she can be here now, and for so long, is that she is no longer working alone. “Regill is keeping things together while I’m gone.”
“Good. Now that he’s dead the old man can finally put himself to use.”
A short laugh falls from Lilith’s lips, and she finally wraps Wenduag in her arms. Wenduag inhales deeply, her breath tickling Lilith’s neck as she clutches her back. “What would you like to do first, Mistress?” she asks, running her hand up Lilith’s arm, her nails pulling at the thick black fabric of her robes.
“You have all night to wear me out,” Lilith says as she pulls away, and Wenduag seems equally annoyed by her restraint and pleased by the promise of what is to come. Lilith glances to the window and the world outside, and with a thought she folds away her wings and allows her features to fade back into more subtle, mortal appearance.
“Show me around,” she says. “I haven’t had time yet to properly tour your lands. Show me what you’ve built here.”
Wenduag’s eyes brighten, and she stands up straighter as pride shines like an aura around her. “With pleasure, Mistress. Come with me.”
She has already begun speaking enthusiastically of her armies and hunting grounds as she leads Lilith from the room, their hands still locked tightly together.

Tag game! Open tag from @arendaes!
Tag game: Give your KC's first impression and final opinion of each of their companions.
Since Vysk's playthrough is still going, I'll throw this back to Allix, my first KC. TLDR: He's a Freebooter Ranger turned Angel that struggles with the Lawfulness of Heaven while doing his best to keep everyone alive through the crusade. He drinks a lot of coffee.
First Impressions-
Seelah: There are worse people to be trapped in a hole with in a city under siege by demons. A paladin is one of the best options running. I just hope she isn't too by the books...
Camellia: A noble. Just my luck. We'll be lucky to crawl out of this hole with our sanity intact. She has all the fixings of a higher-than-though noble... and yet. There's something off about this one. Some glimmer in her eye I just can't place a finger on. I need to be careful with this one.
Lann: I've never heard of a mongrel before. He seems cheery enough for someone who's lived their whole life underground. Certainly much more open that his companion here. Free spirited, headstrong. I can respect that.
Wenduag: You, I don't trust. I know what it's like to carve out a living in the wilds, amongst a tribe. Those that refuse to walk with kin do not last long, unless there is something else going on in the background. You and Camellia might get along, I feel. You have the same steely glint to your eye, no matter what honey rolls off your tongue.
Woljif: A thief turned crusader. That ought to be something. Woljif might play it cool, but there's a jumpiness to that one. I couldn't leave him in that cell. He seems a little too eager to jump out into the burning streets. He'll bear watching, but I don't think he's as cowardly as he wants to appear.
Ember: No one will touch this child again so long as she remains in my care. To maintain such innocence in her philosophies after being so wronged by the forces that claim to act in the greater good. She is either crazy, or hopelessly optimistic. Either way, she will be protected.
Daeran: Just what I need. Another pompous noble who cares for nothing but his own entertainment. He knows the city better than any of us, and his influence might prove useful. I'll placate him for now, let him get his fill of blood. Gods, hopefully he grows bored and just stays at the inn.
Nenio: A scientist with a death wish that cannot even remember home. Am I the one going mad? Perhaps it is perfectly reasonable to be strolling the streets in the middle of a warzone, asking cultists what they really know about their gods. She has gall. I respect the hells out of that.
Finnean: Poor soul.
Ulbrig: A hundred year old griffon just came crashing through the roof, demanding to know what I did to his lands? I don't have time for this. Well, I might have time for this. This just keeps getting stranger. Maybe he'll calm down once we get him some ale.
Sosiel: A cleric of beauty in the middle of a warzone? What confused loyalties have led you here my friend? He seems nice enough, though I fear he may lack the spine for what is to come. If he can find beauty on a battlefield? Gods, I would envy him. He is even less prepared for this than I.
Regill: Clipped, professional, a man of few words beyond those required for what passes as hellknight tactics. I abhor his organization. I hate with all my heart his treatment of prisoners, wounded, and allies. Yet, his chapter knows how to run an army, run a supply train. I need his experience, as much as I loathe to admit it. We'll be allies, though I may suffer some sleepless nights.
Arueshalae: A demon that wears an icon of Desna? Can demons truly turn on the abyss? I don't see a reason they couldn't I suppose. My own kin are called demons the whole world round for our horns and tails. Who am I to judge if her intentions are true? I'll need to keep an eye on our new ally, but something tells me she's telling the truth. Desna may not be my chosen patron, but she shares a realm with Erastil. May old deadeye guide me true.
Greybor: Any fellow willing to charge a baylor with naught but a dagger is one worth meeting. An assassin by trade? Not exactly my old job description, but I'm sure there's plenty of overlap between that and a bounty hunter. As soon as this is all wrapped up, I need to buy that man a drink.
Trever: Oh Sosiel. A man who wanders from the path is not all lost. I cannot speak to the horrors Trever has suffered in the Abyss, nor can I judge him for the things he has done to survive. I will get him home. That much I can do. As soon as we get out of this thrice damned place.
Queen Galfrey: I am officially over my head. I'm here on a bloody bounty contract, killing demons for gold and hunting the occasional deserter turned bandit. Now, I'm drinking with a Queen and being handed control of a crusading army? It's not too late to slip out the back door, I suppose. But these powers... Gods damn it, this is not the kind of mess I need to be mixed up in.
The Hand of the Inheritor: Oh joy, the right hand of Iomedae, herself. Of all the realms to be looking over my shoulder, I got the lawyers of the afterlife. Angel's have long been allies of the crusade, but I cannot say that I was expecting to have the right hand of the goddess herself looking over my shoulder.
Final Thoughts:
Seelah: One of the finest people I shall ever have the pleasure to know. First among drinking buddies. First into the fray and the last to leave the field. I have had the privilege to meet very few people who truly care as much as Seelah. This war has bent her, but I believe she shall never be broken. I shall treasure her friendship for the rest of my days.
Camellia: I have no regrets in her fate. Thousands of soldiers have perished under my command over this past year. Thousands of families have been devastated, left without sons, daughters, mothers and fathers. That some would be murdered like livestock in my own camp? There was never a way that Camellia could have left that basement alive. Horgus Germ will face tribunal, and perhaps I may sleep soundly again. I very much doubt it.
Lann: Faithful friend. Never have I seen one so wracked with guilt, and yet, you have survived it. I am proud to call you my brother. I cannot explain to you how angry I felt when I thought you would be the instrument of your own demise. I would never have you question my faith in you. I am glad that you found the strength to question your faith in yourself. Please do not name that boat after me.
Wenduag: I cannot help but feel that I could have done more for you. So focused were you on strength, on finding or creating the stronger master. I hope that you found peace in the end, for you have left me with none. For Lann's sake, I hope you found peace.
Woljif: I cannot overstate how proud I am of you. You overcame your demons, quite literally, and chose the higher path. You could have sunk deep into your magic, claimed the power that was before you, but instead you struggled on. I hope you're enjoying your retirement, my friend. I believe we're going plane hopping next month...
Ember: I have never seen someone surprise a god so thoroughly as you. Even Arueshalae is baffled that you managed to flip the Redeemer Queen. They will regale you as a saint, I'm sure. But your friends know the truth. You're just another person, trying to create as much good in the world as you can. I always look forward to your visits.
Daeran: I never did apologize for misjudging you so badly. While I think you and I would never quite see eye to eye, I am proud of how far you've come. I hope you're enjoying shaking up Queen Galfrey's court. She'll need some excitement in peace time. Don't forget that we're vacationing with Woljif soon. I can't wait to hear all the details you've left out of your letters.
Nenio: You continue to baffle me. I'm not sure that I will ever truly understand the depths of your mind. Though I can confidently say that being told to "take my pants off" for friendship in the abyss is a memory that I will never forget. Thank you for making me your assistant. Even if it took you years to finally learn my name.
Finnean: Rest well, my friend. You've earned it.
Ulbrig: I don't think I'm going to ever get used to the idea of you as a god. Come visit some time, yeah? I'll never outdrink you, but it is always a joy to try.
Sosiel: My dearest friend. I do not know how, but we survived. I hope that you are getting the rest you deserve. Your estate is lovely, and your cherry wine is still Arue's favorite. I know that you have your quiet days. The world was never as hoped it would be. But with Trever, and your love at your side, I hope you still find beauty wherever you look. We'll come visit again soon.
Regill: I never expected to have the respect that I harbor for you. We were never quite friends, but I think we now understand each other. I cannot help but admire your discipline, even as it kills you. I hope for nothing more than joy for you. However you choose to find it.
Arueshalae: My darling, what else is there to be said? I am so proud of you for the impossible heights that you have scaled. Our cabin on the water is beautiful. I cannot wait to explore many more dreams with you.
Greybor: I will never understand you. A man truly married to the job. I wish you well, friend. May you stand the test of time and ambition. It takes a lot of gall to run an assassin's guild in the abyss.
Trever: I hope you find your peace, friend. I suspect it will not be found in gods, nor liquor. You have a long and dark road still to walk, but I can think of no finer a man to walk beside you than your brother.
Queen Galfrey: I harbor you no ill will for your trespasses against me. I cannot imagine the weight on your shoulders after a hundred years of war. Your realm is changing rabidly now, new councils, new liberties. The real test of your rule has begun. I am curious to see how you intend to handle it.
The Hand of the Inheritor: Last we spoke you asked me to kill you. I cannot say if I made the right choice in refusal. I hope you found your healing, my friend. I will search for you soon, my friends at my back. If heaven deigned not to open its gates to its finest servant, hurt and broken after fighting its war for it, I will tear down those golden gates myself. Wherever you are, I hope the sun shines brightly. We shall meet again soon enough.
BONUS:
Irabeth:
First- Finally, someone competant to take all this over. Hey, hey, what do you mean I'm in charge???
Final- Anevia is the luckiest woman in the world to have someone as steady as you around. I would not have survived without you. Please bring those cinnamon cookies over again next time, I think Arue would kill me if I forgot to ask.
Anevia:
First- A kindred spirit. We're going to get along famously. Assuming we survive this of course.
Final- The greatest spymaster I could have asked for, and an even greater friend. I will not forget the blackberry mead next time. That was my bad.

Wrath of the Righteous Romance rantings... 2!!
I wrote a post abt this several months ago but that post is gone now so here is take 2 of my rankings and personal opinions of all the romances in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. I will try to phrase these as spoiler-free as possible, and will only be discussing things that are supported by the text within the game, so no headcanons or anything.
Also, since generally speaking the romances in this game are very good, most of these rankings will be up to my own preferences and how I experienced them. When there are writing issues that come up with a close read of these stories I will specifically point them out. I will be basing everything on both my own experience playing the game but also on stuff I saw after my initial playtroughs either online or shared by friends.
Video games rarely have well written romance arcs or stories overall in my opinion, since many of them are much more focused on telling a grand story, so romance content either gets a secondary seat, with not much focus or impact, or will simply be included to be included. They are also usually beloved parts of said games, even if the quality of the writing, or what exactly they offer and add to a regular playtrough are not great. Wrath of the Righteous on the other hand really elevates what romantic plotlines can add to the a game and how they can be an effective tool to showcase and explore different sides of individual characters as well.
Once again, most of these ratings are going to be based on my personal opinion as well as the overall quality of the themes these storylines present. The ones that go deeper into exploring characters and offer new insight are generally going to be ranked higher. The additional mythic path specific romances are not included in the ranking itself, but I will also briefly discuss them, since between now and the time I wrote the first post, I played them all too.
5. Camellia
Camelllia ranks the lowest on this list simply because of the general lack of content to her romance, and the lack of closure it offers. This romance starts out as a very interesting and exciting one that falls incredibly flat after act 4 and almost completely fizzles out by the last act. The issues in my opinion come from the same basis as the general issues that are present in Camellia’s writing (but I’m not here today to discuss those issues in great detail right now). It offers a lot and gives actually very little, while also just offering more of the same character one would experience when unromanced. That being said, still this story has some high points and toys with interesting ideas (like having a girlfriend who is a bit of a stabby sicko, and who actually challenges the commander in some way, which was honestly refreshing), but never actually delivers on them, leaving them instead half baked, with a somewhat flat finish. In an inferior game, this would be among the more interesting romance paths however, but combined with how good the rest of them are, and how much it falls apart on a close read, it simply was not an enjoyable experience for me.
An additional thing here is that her writing is occasionally transphobic, and sometimes logically makes no sense for the setting itself either. I mostly refer here to her incredibly heteronormative remarks towards Seelah specifically, which is a viewpoint that is simply not expressed by anyone else in the game, so it feels like she just has a very limited and rigid view on gender out of nowhere, which ruined the immersion for me.
4. Sosiel
While Camellia ranked lower because of the lackluster nature of the story, Sosiel gets a low ranking because it felt like whomever wrote his story hated writing it. What starts as a sweet and albeit a bit awkward romance turns worse and worse as it progresses. There are some high points, and they explore Sosiel’s general naiveté and worldview, a lot of the romance feels more like as a young guy having a crush on you instead of something mutual. For example, he talks a lot about his art and the Commander can’t really enjoy it with him, simply he will barely tolerate that part of him.
His romance is also the only one that crosses the line from being only together for sexual reasons into being an actual abusive relationship between him and the Commander if you pick specific options. While as a story this could be interesting if explored with enough grace and nuance, here it is simply presented more as a perverse fascination and the evil and abusive factors are offered just because its fucked up, pointlessly. I think this is especially in bad taste, given Sosiel is the not only the only gay character, but also the only black man among all the romance options.
If you go for the “true love” ending (which is something ALL romances have) you get a generally sweet and enjoyable story about the commander being his first love, and Sosiel having the opportunity to explore these feelings and his own sexuality with somebody who is perhaps a bit older and more experienced (based on the dialogue options you can pick). Again, in a lesser game, this romance would be very good! But it also tries to do things that are better written in the other romance paths that are there in this same game!
From this point on, the rankings are based only on my own personal preferences. While I will continue critiquing the writing here and there, overall these storylines are solid, and I think most people will find at least one that really works for them or any character they are playing.
3. Lann
Lann’s romance is very good. Not perfect, for reasons I will discuss in a bit, but very good. It’s a bit more slow paced than every other romance path given his awkward personality and hesitance when it comes to opening his heart up again (and his own feelings of inferiority), the amount of content he gets is perhaps only a little bit less than it is for the other romances. While his non-romanced story explores what kind of character he is, his romance path delves a bit deeper into why exactly he is like that, and explores a different, more intimate and open side of him. While his main struggle remains the same as in his regular storyline, his problems and issues are laid much more bare for the commander to see, and his struggles with those problems are written both realistically and compassionately. Too bad then, that the commander cannot express any kind of compassion or love towards him at all!
This is my main gripe with this romance. You are never given the chance to appreciate or reassure him. The commander remains incredibly passive in this romance story as well, and mayor beats of the story will keep happening AT her instead of with her present as a participant. Also, this story has a very specific idea for what kind of woman the commander is, and sometimes enforces a specific idea of womanhood onto her as well. Given that this is a straight romance, it is not entirely unexpected. For most cishet players, or for people who happen to roleplay as commander who do fit that ideal this will be no problem. While Cam’s gender ideas and general heternormativity felt out of place, Lann’s much more reflexive and flexible ideas about gender and gender roles actually work to inform about how these things are done in the mongrel society (as supported by both the Wenduag romance and some conversations with Sull). So this romantic story not only showcases Lann’s character in more depth, but also functions almost as a tool to explore the setting even further, and in my opinion this part made experiencing both his and Wenduag’s romances much more fun. The two stories also have paralells to each other as do their personal struggles, which was even more fun to explore and see.
While Lann can be only romanced by female commanders (and is generally a very gendered romance path, but not necessarily in a bad or distracting way) he does express some bisexual desire in other conversations, which makes me wish there was more of a space in his writing to explore that further, but that would have required more time to implement, since that would have called for an entire rewrite of the whole thing.
2. Arueshalae
Arueshalae was the first romance I ever played trough in this game, so it will always have a soft spot in my heart. She is also the only character whose romance arc ties incredibly heavily into her regular friendship arc. The payoff at the end is incredibly good! But it CAN be lessened if you already experienced the un-romanced version first. That being said, this story is incredible. Its a closer exploration of her struggles that we do get to see generally, but here we get a much closer view as she struggles to realize her dreams. It’s also somewhat slower paced, but it maintains a level of emotional intensity that I enjoyed a lot. Generally speaking it is a very sweet romance that is definitely worth a playtrough.
Another thing I really liked about this story is how relatable it felt to me, as a lesbian who used to struggle a lot with intimacy and my own desires and feelings towards other women. Her writing captures these complex and contradictory feelings incredibly well, and that deserves credit! I also enjoyed, how she as a bisexual woman received guidance from Anevia in her quest towards love, since to me that mirrored the real life experiences of wlw forming communities and teaching each other that it is okay to have these feelings and desires.
She is also technically a romance option if you decide to go her “evil” way, but that bit to me felt more like a little joke than anything serious. The writing barely even acknowledges it if you decide to sleep with Evil!Aru, which feels fitting, and I simply don’t consider that version an actual romance story.
1.Daeran AND Wenduag
They BOTH get to be first because both of these stories are just excellent.
Daeran
Daeran ranks very high not only because of how fun, well written and reactive his romance arc is, but also because he is in my opinion one of the most well written companions on the game. Just like his personality, the romance story at first appears shallow and a little bit annoying and uninteresting, but as it develops, the story deepens and we get to explore entirely new facets and elements of his character. Generally he is written in this way in the main game too, since picking different options while talking to him or taking him along will sometimes reveal hidden opinions and depths to him that are sometimes unexpected.
The narrative development of his romance story is just excellent. The game dedicates a lot of time to the exploration of how exactly he is slowly opening up and truly falling for the Commander. This is also thanks to the fact that he has the most romance content among all of the companions, and it is clear that whomever was writing him had a lot of fun with his character. His romance arc also offers closure to his personal quest that is simply missing if you are only friends with him. While this might be a bit frustrating, I think this is a very strong choice that fits his overall characterization as a person who has a LOT of trouble with opening up to others or being even a little bit vulnerable.
Overall, excellent romance story that fits his personality perfectly, and which is just a blast to play trough, since it perfectly mixes between emotional beats and the more playful elements of a romance.
Wenduag
Wenduag is perhaps one of the more controversial or dividing characters in the game. It’s mostly because of her generally unpleasant personality and because to pick her your character also has to be either a little bit evil, or simply somebody who dislikes Lann, who is definitely the more charming at first glance of the two. She is also my favorite character.
Similar to how Daeran’s story and character develops, Wendu starts off as somebody who clearly is only around to get some sort of an upper hand, and who gets interested in the Commander for purely sexual reasons. But as her story develops, her romance explores much more of why she is the way she is and how EXACTLY she feels about her place in the world, and what struggles come with it. Her story mirrors Lann in many many ways, which makes sense since both of them grew up and got socialized in the same environment, but found very different answers to how to survive and thrive. Her romance arc also offers a better conclusion to her end quest, since the commander is more privy to her inner world and personal feelings. Also during the final scene her VA did SUCH a fucking excellent job it was just an absolute joy to experience it.
While Wendu might not be for everyone I cannot recommend this romance enough. Wendu’s writing is just incredibly compelling and there is a lot of depth to her and her reactions and the emotional beats of this storyline just hit perfectly. Just as I mentioned with Lann, her worldview is also more presented in the romance specific conversations, either mirroring or contrasting how he sees the world, but also it informs a lot about how mongrel society functions. Just an absolute joy this one was.
Other romances
Wrath of the Righteous also has some more minor romances. These generally have less or barely any content.
Galfrey
Objectively the most developed and fleshed out of all of these. There is an actual storyline here, and we get to know Galfrey a bit better, which helps to humanize her further (which does not really happen in the game, a writing decision that i find VERY good). She has an opportunity to become less of a crusader figure and more of a person, which is interesting to see. Unfortunately this romance is limited to specific mythic paths (Aeon, gold dragon and angel iirc), so not a lot of players will have the opportunity to explore it. That being said, it is a worthy addition and offers some new perspective on Galfrey which was nice to see. (Also I never actually finished this one, BUT a lot of my friends who did enjoyed it a lot).
Nocticula
This is a very very limited romance that only be accessed if you take specific options during the demon mythic path. You get to become her lover/butler which is pretty fun. She leaves your ass eventually though I’m sorry. Still, was enjoyable, and I liked that it was an option, but generally demon path offers more complex relationships you can have with her.
Socothbenoth
Almost nothing. You go Trickster you can have sex with him and flirt with him like 3 times. If you want to do that lol. Its barely anything though.
Deskari
You heard me. Play swarm!!! Play swarm now its good its soo good!! You can develop a mutual psycho-sexual fascination with each other its VERY good.
Thats all! Overall, lot of good and great options! Most of these stories imho really elevate what video game romances can be like and what they can offer. Too bad that there are no poly options, but as I understand it they simply had no time to implement them. I’m also a bit sad abt the lack of lesbian romance options specifically, but thats more of a representation thing for ME. Also would have been cool if they give more room generally speaking for nb characters to exist, but alas.
Thanks for reading. <3

@dragonologist-phd
Thanks so much for asking!! I really love everything that Wenduag has going on, and talking about her is really fun to me
How I feel about this character:
Really love her, probably my favorite evil character in any CRPG I've played ever, and a solid contender for favorite CRPG character in general.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I can't say I really envision her in a relationship with anyone else in the game, for her romance I did an Aeon -> Legend / Zon-Kuthon -> Atheist character which had Parallels Galore, but I don't feel like it makes much sense for her to be with anyone besides the player, mostly because she wouldn't let anybody else close. When you trim down the list, you really only end up with evil Arue as an option and if evil Arue was an even slightly interesting outcome to me I'd love them conceptually but she's just not.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Definitely her & Lann postgame, I like the dialogue Wenduag has for joining in Act 5 (and LOVE her little mourning bit if you end his quest with him dying), and I adore what we see of their dynamic if Lann's the one to join in Act 5, some really solid stuff and I wish it was incorporated into their ending slides.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I'm not really sure if this is *unpopular*, but I love how completely unrepentant she is. People will say that she's stupid for being so obvious about wanting to betray the player or whatever, but I think it plays really solidly into her character that she's such a proud person but feels like she has to act submissive to everyone. In her mind, there's really no material difference between Hosilla, pre-game Lann, Savamelekh, or a non-romanced KC, and she just lets all of that resentment stew in her because she only knows one way to act to people she has to submit to or deceive, so of course she grows to resent them all as we see in her Areelu's Lab dream, so she treats Lann and more obviously the KC the way she'd interact with a demon, and the eventual betrayal is a given for a demon or cultist.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I think she's really lacking in dialogue options/roleplay aspect for a non-romanced, good-aligned KC, like off the top of my head there's just a base conversation or two, and her act 5 betrayal, and the biggest issue with that is that to recruit her, you at least have to imply that you're chill with slavery. I think her offer to bring the mongrels up should've been like a thing she does for like evil characters/ones who use the demon power against Savamelekh/ones who brought her to the shield maze, and for everyone who doesn't fulfill like 2 of 3 or w/e of these requirements, she'd bring it up with them in Act 1, or even just during her Act 3 quest, or just have her directly tell Lann that they wouldn't be slaves, etc. Just kinda spitballing here, but there's such a wide gap between someone who'd bring her along vs. someone who would romance her and not be abusive about it, or anyone who'd just. not be an ass to her, and I think it should've been addressed.

Title: Her Tongue So Mean Fandom: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Rating: E Status: One-Shot Main Characters: Knight-Commander Lilith de Marc, Wenduag Ships: Lilith/Wenduag Additional Notes: Smut, Short & Sweet, Teasing Word Count: 1.4k Summary: Lilith is busy. Wenduag is bored. A battle of wills ensues.
read below or here on ao3
The candle on Lilith’s desk burns low, casting flickering shadows across the neatly ordered stacks of letters that cover her desk. The hour is late, but the work never stops- not for the Knight-Commander. There are too many requisitions in need of categorization, too many council letters in need of response, too many field reports in need of tactical analysis. And despite the time-bending powers of the Aeon, there are somehow still too few hours in the day.
Truthfully, Lilith does not mind the work. The powers of the Aeon have sharpened her focus- which she must say was quite impressive to begin with- and having spent far too many nights trudging through the field herself, she can testify that by comparison this is a perfectly pleasant way to spend an evening.
The mongrel woman waiting in Lilith’s bed clearly begs to differ.
“Would you give it a rest already?” Wenduag groans. She’s splayed out in Lilith’s bedsheets, clothes already shed, picking at her nails with a bored frown. Ever since their fraternization began, Wenduag has taken to slithering into Lilith’s chambers whenever the mood strikes her. Most nights, Lilith is more than willing to entertain her lover.
This is not such a night, much to Wenduag’s outspoken disappointment.
“If I’d known you were going to be so dull tonight,” she says, “I’d have sought out more satisfying company.”
“Is that so?” Lilith asks without looking up from her reading. Sheets rustle behind her, and Lilith knows Wenduag is growing ever more irritated at the lack of attention.
“Why are you even doing this dredge work? You have underlings. Put them to work,” Wenduag grouses. Lilith can practically hear the smile curling across the woman’s face as she adds, “And then come put me to work.”
“And who would I trust with this?” Lilith poses. “Konomi? Please. I’d rather not all my correspondence be filtered through her.”
She anticipates another derisive remark in return, especially considering her lack of reaction to Wenduag’s increasingly transparent attempts at seduction. She’s even half looking forward to whatever scathing comment Wenduag comes up with. But when Wenduag does reply, her voice is honey-smooth and sickly sweet. “True. You’ve always been so sharp and shrewd, Mistress. So relentless in your pursuits.”
A pause, and Lilith senses Wenduag’s presence against the back of her chair. The woman has always moved with quiet grace; Lilith hadn’t even heard footsteps as she crossed the room. Even now, her touch is light as she leans low to Lilith’s ear and whispers, “But so am I. And it’s impossible that any of those scribbles are more enticing than what I have in mind tonight.”
Wenduag’s breath is warm against Lilith’s neck, and Lilith’s skin prickles in response to her teasing. But Lilith keeps her focus on the papers in her hands as she says, “How would you know? You can’t even read these scribbles.”
“Why would I want to? I’m not some weak old crone stuck inside sniffing parchment all day. I’m a warrior, and I don’t waste my time on words. I take action.” The light touch turns sharp as Wenduag traces her nails down Lilith’s collarbone, and Lilith bites her lip to keep from humming her approval.
“And you’re impatient,” she says instead.
“I just know what I want.”
“Impatient,” Lilith repeats, but that’s as far as she gets before Wenduag’s arms wrap around her shoulders. Her warmth presses in all around, and her fingers pluck tauntingly at the laces holding together the front of Lilith’s robe.
It is an impressive battle of wills: Wenduag’s persistent determination and cloying touches set against the Aeon’s innate disapproval of any mortal distraction from her duty. Lilith allows the battle to rage within her for a moment, then with some effort finds her voice again. “I’m busy. You’ll have to entertain yourself for once.”
But Wenduag would not be Wenduag if she gave in so easily.
“Oh, I intend to,” she purrs as she presses even closer. Her chin dips to rest on Lilith’s shoulder and her fingers pull more firmly at her laces. The silk comes loose completely, and Wenduag’s touch leaves traces of fire across Lilith’s skin.
A pointed smile flits across Lilith’s face. If it’s to be a war of attrition…well, two can play at the game, and Lilith is not yet ready to concede. If Wenduag wants the satisfaction of her acknowledgment, she’ll have to well and truly earn it. Lilith leans closer to her desk, fully ignoring the woman draped around her as she returns to the papers laid out in their neat and orderly rows.
Scouting parties from the northeast have returned with reports of increased activity-
Wenduag parts the top of Lilith’s robe, and she slides the fabric off her shoulders. The silk falls like water down her skin, gathering at her waist.
-increased activity of demonic movement, mainly focused on the mountain passes-
She brushes Lilith’s hair out of the way with surprising gentleness, her breath tickling over Lilith’s ear and down the back of her neck. Her hands roam lower, one pausing to rake her nails tauntingly over Lilith’s breast while the other skirts over her stomach.
-the mountain passes, which may provide the Crusade’s armies the advantage of surprise if scouts are authorized-
Her mouth finally presses into the crook of Lilith’s throat, her kisses grazing across sensitive skin as calloused hands at last slip downwards, teasing at Lilith’s thighs. And she does tease, with clever fingers that promise pleasure once Lilith’s disrobing is at last complete.
But it’s not until Wenduag’s kisses are punctuated by the bite of her teeth that Lilith’s resolve finally cracks.
The flickering candle on the desk flares to sudden, blazing life in response to the rushing of Lilith’s blood. She rises from her seat with such force that her chair topples over, and she kicks it out of the way as she turns to face Wenduag’s smug, hungry grin. Before Wenduag can say a word, Lilith pushes her backwards, and in a few strides the mongrel woman is back on the bed- this time with Lilith hovering over her.
Lilith’s discarded papers flutter to the floor behind them, falling in a cascade to pile on top of the robe laying forgotten on the floor. Wenduag’s eyes shine up at the Commander in ecstatic, golden victory. “There you are. I knew you couldn’t resist me.”
“Keep gloating, and I swear I’ll go right back to reading field reports. Now...what was that you said about being put to work?”
Her threat earns a snort of disbelief, but Wenduag doesn’t press her luck. She simply lifts herself up from the bed to press her lips again on Lilith’s neck, nipping at the same spot she marked before. She moves downward with wicked speed, her nails dragging paths along Lilith’s body until she once again finds the heat between Lilith’s legs.
This time, however, it’s not fingers teasing at her entrance. This time, a short huff of breath is all the warning she receives before Wenduag’s mouth presses against her clit.
And this time, Lilith does not restrain herself; she moans, and her hand grips at Wenduag’s hair, holding her close. Her veins are on fire now, scorching white-hot beneath her skin. It’s a wonder Wenduag doesn’t burn herself as she lets her tongue roam against Lilith’s folds.
Or maybe she does burn, and she simply doesn’t care.
Those musings are driven from Lilith’s mind as Wenduag continues with her work. Her nails dig into Lilith’s waist, and her tongue and teeth take their turns lapping at her clit and nibbling at her thighs. Throaty chuckles reverberate in her breath as Lilith arches under her attention, the fire building within her until finally-
Lilith does not cry out when she comes; even in these moments, she is not so untethered. But she moans loudly, the breath rushing from her lungs as a shiver runs through her body. Her grip on Wenduag tightens, then loosens, and when her climax has faded she sinks down into the bedsheets, pulling her lover along with her.
The look of victory has not left Wenduag’s eyes; if anything, it shines brighter now. She licks her lips and purrs, “Better than parchment and scribbles, aren’t I, Mistress?”
“Shut up,” Lilith murmurs, not unkindly. She takes Wenduag’s hand and lifts her knuckles to her lips- the closes thing to a real kiss Wenduag will tolerate. “But yes. You’re better than parchment and scribbles.”

friends, companions, psionic warriors, help me make a decision
do i romance the succubus who's been converted to good by a single lifechanging event when she was feeding on a poor bastard
or the mongrel who's been ground in the dirt and has done shit equally as bad as the literal demon, but doesn't believe she should change and has a nightmarishly difficult redemption arc because you are the lifechanging event
