I’m so glad you asked and I’m about to be so extra.

This fandom is beyond talented and I have many favourites. So I might as well make this an official Prefer-to-be-vilified Wenclair Fic Rec Masterlist… post (name could use some work but you get the idea).

I’m going to try to remember/link all my favourites but I’ll probably (definitely) forget some. On March 8th 2023 I got a job as a public school English teacher and I couldn't do anything else, I barely even had time to sleep.

On April 29th 2024 I had to quit that job because I was having way too many anxiety and panic attacks and my health (physical and mental) was declining. I am a diagnosed autistic person who just couldn't handle it anymore, I was teaching 16 different classes, working 9 hours every day, the only English Teacher for over 500 students.

I'm now trying to find my balance again, looking for the safety of my special interests, one of them being Wenclair, hence why I'm back writing my fanfic Unfathomable.

I am rereading what I have already written and doing some small updates (mostly sentence structure and stuff like that) and after I finish up with what is already posted, I will go back to writing that!

It might not be updated in consistent, quick manner when I go back at it, because I need to avoid too much pressure and stress but I'm so fond of this pairing, they keep me company when I'm lonely because I have no friends and no one to talk to, and they actually teach me some things and help me understand others.

I would love to ask any tumblr mates, wednesday/wenclair fans or otherwise, to check my fic out and let me know how I can improve my writing (you can comment there on my fic), I honestly think that interacting with other human beings in a classroom is too much for me and writing has always been my love, so I'm gonna follow that path now.

Summary: Who Knew Wednesday Addams was a Commie?

Wednesday Addams obviously isn’t a commie it’s a joke I don’t want to be canceled right when I start using tumblr over an obvious Joke

When it came to Enid and Wednesday, you couldn’t find more polar opposites who seem to get along just fine. While you never particularly adored Wednesday you were on good terms, however Enid was a different situation. With Enids primal libido and drive, hooking up was a constant that happens at least twice a day. There’s a decently sized list of how often and where.

Sometimes when walking to your biology class, you can spot Enid heading into a small janitors closet. Confused you peer in and she turns and grabs you by your tie, yanking you in for skipping class and a “Quickie.” Which was more than an hour, it’s a surprise nobody heard the walls banging.

Other times she gets even more reckless, along the balcony walkway over the quad, all seems well until she “Leans” over the the railing, purposely wearing a much shorter skirt than usual, almost teasing you to take her, obviously who wouldn’t and your palms gladly grip her waist and plunging in.

Enid would even go so far to bring you in her dorm as Wednesday slept near by, you had to be as quiet as possible but that wasn’t particularly easy. The way Enid rocked her hips into yours, her panted breath, wolf like whining when you hit just the right spot. You had to let her bite your arms sometimes just to keep her from howling in pleasure. The soft bed creaks were just enough for Wednesday to awaken, she didn’t move an inch though and just, listened. That one mistake lead you to the situation you’re in now.

One afternoon, Enid was preparing for a night out. Wednesday was preoccupied on her typewriter.

“You’re leaving?” Wednesday asks.

“Yeah, Yoko throwing a small Party. It’d gonna be like totes cute!” Enid says putting on lipstick. And Wednesday stops and turns to her.

“That’s odd, Yoko informed me of no such party.” Wednesday said and Enid stops, slowly growing fearful.

“O-oh, well yeah i-its a bit private.”

“Is it? Or are you going to meet (Y/n)?” Wednesday says which Enid slowly turns to her, trying to be cutely oblivious.

“What? No, it’s not like that we’re just friends—“

“Friends who fornicate Like hounds in heat, and in the same room next to me.” Wednesday says and stands up, and Enid slowly begins to realize she knew. Enid is slowly backed to a corner.

“We-We wouldn’t do that!”

“Hm, would you? Shall I read an excerpt from your diary?” Wednesday asks and Enids eyes go wide. “June 14th, (Y/n) didn’t want to go to the dorm but I couldn’t wait, so we did it in my bed next to Wednesday, I really didn’t want to wake her but it felt so good that I almost made a—“

“Okay! Okay! You made your point.” Enid says sadly. “I’m going to meet him and well, he knows a few open empty dorm rooms.” Enid said.

“Interesting.” Wednesday says, “a word of advice Enid, if you’re you’re going to break the rules, don’t Leave a trail of evidence.” She says.

“Noted, so, what do you want?” Enid asks.

“Him.” She responds, much to Enids confusion.

“Excuse me?” She says, “You aren’t his girlfriend, meaning he can be in any relationship he wishes, and I wish to partake in it, or would you rather me inform Thornhill?” She says, and Enid pouts.

Later that night (Y/n) Lays on his bed, with Enid around his left arm.

“So, Wednesday basically blackmailed you into sharing me as your hook up buddy?” You ask, Enid nods sadly, “I’ll admit it’s weird sharing you, but I’m kinda okay with it.” Enid says, you turn right, to Wednesday who was also lying with you.

“Wow Wednesday, didnt know you were a commie, “Our Boyfriend.” Heh.” You say smiling and Wednesday rests her head upon yours and speaks.

Wednesday Addams is famous like always. Girl's the new horror actress of the time, known for her grim dark books and her wonderful performance of being able to go from normal blankness to whole ass imabouttodieface. Most of the time, its the opposite so seeing it happen the other way around is morbidly fascinating

but with popularity comes admirers, suitors, fans and stans alike wishing for a chance with the all so captivating Addams. Just a touch, a selfie! maybe.. a talk?

luckily, she has a bodyguard to keep them all away

enter, enid sinclair! except no one knows this, all she's known as is Wednesday's guard dog. Known for being unafraid to block, grab and even fight those who are a bit two rowdy. All done with a smile in her face, the way too sharp inhuman teeth shown for all to see.

wenclair know each other btw, this happens like post canon bc im too lazy to make a whole separate idea. Backstory is alot different compared to my streamer enid au aswell (or i can change it for no reason, but as of rn Enid's trying to be professional with a crush)

they're pining! alot of scenes where when Wednesday has to sign something, Enid is there putting a hand under the paper. Wednesday has to get out the car? Enid is holding the roof to make sure she doesn't hit her head. Cold night? Enid's there removing her coat

Enid had never felt ugly.

Sure, sometimes she felt unhappy with the way some of her makeup looked. Or she thought there was something off with her outfit, but she’d never felt anything worse than mild discontent.

 She had felt like a disappointment, like a waste of space.

She had felt useless and weak.

Like an inferior. A freak. A lone wolf.

 But ugly? Never.

Unlike every other aspect of her life, her mother hadn’t been able to dig her claws into Enid’s appearance and dictate what she should look like as if her life depended on whether she wore skirts or trousers, pink or red.

 Enid dyed her hair whatever colours she wanted, she tamed it, so it didn’t resemble the usual unruly and unkempt hair of her brothers. She wore bright makeup. She wore clothes Esther Sinclair would most definitely throw one of her notorious tantrums over.

 She had felt beautiful when Wednesday opened up to her under the glow of the moonlight.

She had felt beautiful when she won the Poe Cup.

She felt beautiful when she finally admitted her feelings for Wednesday, and when Wednesday reciprocated them – albeit in a calmer, composed manner.

 But after the fight with the Hyde, and after Wednesday had sat with her in the infirmary, their hands clasped together the entire time, Enid could hardly stand to look at herself in the mirror, yet when she did, she couldn’t, for the life of her, tear her eyes off of her reflection.

 This was one of those times.

 The blonde was scrubbing at her face as if she scrubbed just hard enough the jagged lines would disappear. Of course, she knew that wasn’t possible, but she just wanted – no, needed ­– them gone.

 After a few more seconds of ferociously scrubbing at her skin, Enid sank onto the cold bathroom floor, hugging her knees tightly to her chest as her body was hit with wave after wave of sobs. These days it felt as if her tears were never-ending.

 She knew they shouldn’t change how she felt about herself. But everyone was always staring. On her way to class, people stopped in the hallways to catch a glimpse of her scars, the normies in Jericho scringed when they saw them. Fuck, even Wednesday could hardly look at her without her eyes constantly being drawn to hideous lines.

 She had tried to hide them. She really had. She had started parting her hair differently so more hair fell on that side of her face, her makeup had changed ever so slightly, and she never tilted her head far enough that people would be able to see them.

 the werewolf knew what everyone was thinking.

That she was a failure, she was ugly, worthless, stupid, and weak.

 She was so, so tired.

 The sound of Wednesday’s typewriter was the only noise filling the room. Instead of a grounded feeling invading Enid’s chest at the sound of the tapping keys, it felt as if they were hallowing her out. Slowly cracking away at the composed exterior she had been wearing ever since – that night.

 What if I hadn’t been fast enough?

What if I didn’t wolf out?

Is Tyler gone? Thornhill?

Wednesday almost died because I was too slow. 

Does she think my scars show that I wasn’t strong enough to beat the Hyde?

Is she ashamed? Embarrassed?

 Enid placed a hand over her face, cringing at the way her fingertips grazed the raised skin of her scars, the smooth skin being replaced by the reminder that she could have failed Wednesday.

 God, she’s only with you out of pity at this point. 

 Her mother's words ran around her mind, “she’s an Addams, Enid, she will get bored of the misfit werewolf and leave.” “Look what you’ve gone and done to that pretty face of yours, we can get it fixed. We can get you looking normal again.”

 From across the room, Wednesday could hear the way Enid’s breathing started to get more erratic, the muffled whimper that left the girl's mouth every few seconds.

 Stalking towards the bed, Wednesday gently placed a hand on top of the one Enid had on her face, slowly tugging it down, not missing the way Enid tensed slightly as she felt her hand run across the rough lines, leaving them exposed to be scrutinised by Wednesday as her mother had done countless times already.

 “Enid? What is it, did someone upset you? Give me a name. Give me a name and I’ll make sure they regret being born.”

 Enid opened her eyes, teary blue met a murderous brown.

 “Do – do you think I’m ugly?”

 It was as if time stood still as if even atoms were afraid to move at the way Wednesday was flooded with a white-hot rage that made her head pound, her fingers itching to latch onto the sharpest blade she owned. To carve into the body of whoever had made her kind, bubbly girlfriend this way. She wouldn’t kill them, no, she’d keep them alive as long as she could. putting them through the worst pains imaginable.

 Through gritted teeth, the seething girl forced out the few words she could. “Who would make you think such a thing?”

 The werewolf reached out a tentative hand and held onto Wednesday’s cold hand again, tugging her down onto the bed until their knees knocked against each other.

 “You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. I just … I know that I look different now. Compared to how I did when we, you know … started dating. And I understand attraction is important,” exhaling steadily, Enid steeled herself for the worst. “Look, I know my scars aren’t pretty to look at, and I know that they bother you, I see you staring at them all the time. So, I understand if you don’t want to be with me anymore. I won’t hate you for it, Willa, it’s okay.”

 The rage that usually fuelled Wednesday’s body dissipated at Enid’s words rushed out of her mouth, she was refusing to meet Wednesday’s gaze, and her usually iron-clad grip on Wednesday’s hand is reduced to a light hold as if she was giving Wednesday the choice to leave as if she had been kept prisoner.

 Prisoner? Wednesday? please.

 Raising her free hand, Wednesday gently moved the hair covering Enid’s scars behind her ear, letting her fingers trace the rough skin.

 Upon the contact, Enid’s eyes rose to meet Wednesday’s, subconsciously leaning into the caring touch.

 If Enid wasn’t so devastatingly heartbroken, she would have teased the gothic girl at how utterly dumbfounded she looked.

 “My love, I don’t know what you mean. You are the most ethereal person I have ever met. Every time I see your scars I am reminded of how courageous and how powerful you were when you fought the Hyde. I am reminded of how you sacrificed your very life to save mine, that you were prepared to dive into a bloody battle to save me,” Wednesday placed a soft kiss on one of the lines across the girl's face. “Your scars do not change your beauty, you take my breath away just as violently and mercilessly as you did on the very first day I laid my eyes upon you. I would move mountains just to be able to see your face, to see you smile and cry, for a singular second.”

 Tears were streaming down Enid’s face, her heart hammering in her chest as Wednesday smiled at her. The werewolf pushed herself forward, connecting their lips in a searing kiss.

 “Enid…” Wednesday sighed as they pulled apart.

 “I love you, Wednesday.”

 “And I love you, mi sol. Always, no matter what.”

 And of course, in true Wednesday fashion, whoever stared at Enid’s scars for a beat too long would later be met with a knife to the throat and some very colourful choice of words.

And so what if Enid then spent most of her holidays at the Addams mansion? Wednesday would, and already has denied any suggestions that she had invited Enid for the blonde’s benefit. 

 Well, she had, in a way. But it was more so because Wednesday knew Enid wouldn’t be overly pleased with her if she attacked her mother. If she made her hurt as she had made Enid hurt. 

 Wednesday? Thrilled. Ecstatic, even. Enid? Not so much. Not that she would admit it thus far anyway.

It's really cool when writers have playlists for their fics cause then you see what fits woth the story and all. Fake it till you make it is the first of your fics I read and it's one of my favorites so it's nice to see that playlist.

I've never heard reckless driving before but it's really good. Like "guess I'd die to keep your eyes on me"? For wenclair? Breathtaking honestly. I've only heard one other song by this artist and theyre making me a fan of hers. The song is Hate to be lame in case you're interested.

And epic omg I first heard about it late 2021/early 2022 and I've been obsessed since. I've waited so long that I'm kinda sad it'll be over soon. Just a man is one of the best songs from epic. All the edits to it are so good they hurt. Ruthlessness has to be my favorite though cause that's where it finally hits them how screwed they are.

I know it's a lot, my bad, but in my defense wenclair and epic are my hyperfixations and together is even better.

I feel that having a playlist, even if I don't always listen to it when I'm writing, it really helps get me into the headspace of the story. Fake it is the first popular fic that people have read of mine, which is totally fair since my earlier stuff wasn't that great. And I'm glad that you enjoyed the playlist I put together for it.

Reckless driving was something I literally listened to on repeat for MONTHS because it was what gave the good creative juices for writing, and the beat was great as well when the lyrics just faded into the background in my braid. The lyrics also hit really hard too, so I totally get your reaction to them. I haven't heard the song you're talking about, but Ceilings was also a song I listened to on repeat for a similar reason.

Now to Epic. I found it mid to late last year I think. Back when the Cyclops saga was the most recent one out. All of the edits and animatics were so incredible as well, adding different things to the songs and elevating them in different ways too. Ruthless is an incredible song too. It's the first time that Odysseus has some really harsh consequences and it hardens him in general (apart from Polities' death). And yeah, you get to feel how badly he's messed up too. I also remember how incredible the goosebumps were when that scrapped song was going around 'Get in the water'. It was so intense.

French is my second language. (Basic French pet names within.)

When I was ten years old, I was forced to learn French, Italian, and German (mostly French, because we were going to live in France, but just travel to Italy and Germany...at the same time, I picked up some Romanian as well, since I loved vampires/the real Dracula at the time). I retained spoken French and Italian, but my spoken German and Romanian suck, and I'm much better at Spanish (which is my father's first language...I was just never formally taught it, and had to pick it up on my own after we came back from France since it's what my grandmother spoke). I am literate in several other languages, but my strengths are French, Spanish, and Italian (including "Italian" from the Renaissance Era...which is another thing that bugs the crap out of me re: the show, because modern Italian on an espresso machine owner's manual does not equal the Florentine dialect that Machiavelli wrote in, so that was a piece of dialogue hit me weird...probably a Me Problem).

The languages are much different than English, especially French. It's not just about how much Netflix Wednesday hates being compared to her parents. It's about the language itself that's kind of important if you want to insist that your Wednesday use French (or other non-English language) pet names for Enid.

In my other post about this, I made one small error in judgment: AB Sheriff Galpin is a little cultured since he was married to a Frenchwoman, so he would know some French. However, I still don't think Wednesday would pull any French terms of endearment on him, for that very reason...she wouldn't to be compared to Francoise and she wouldn't want to trigger Donovan like that. IF Donovan were to relax his trauma around Francoise, he would definitely be calling Wednesday "ma crevette"...i.e. "my little munchkin" (literally means shrimp 💀...he might just do so in some way yet, I'm thinkin' about it).

But before I get into the French, y'all need to be strongly reminded of just how much Wednesday despises the way her parents relate to each other romantically: She hates it SO MUCH that her hatred for it caused birds to die. Birds that look like they're supposed to be mourning doves.

Though their undersides don't, but I'm going to chalk it up to lazy CGI and lazy detailing, like the extremely, extremely lazy prop masters/set dressers who made the damnably inaccurate articles on Sheriff Galpin's cork board. All the articles and information in them were terribly inaccurate to what we were told on screen.

Regardless, birds DIED. That's how strong her hatred for how they behave romantically is.

But if you must insist on having Wednesday behave like her parents, at least get the language correct.

French is a heavily gendered language. I'm not even going to get into the current war over gender neutral French for the nbs, because that's not what this is about. Wenclair is a lesbian couple, and we are definitely dealing with females 99.9% of the time here w/the ship.

Thus Netflix Wednesday, being proficient in at least Spanish and Italian, would know how to use the next romance language properly, and would know proper pet names for males vs. females. She's cultured like that, and anything less would make her look stupid...and none of us want to make her look stupid.

Now to get to what's been bugging the Hell out of me:

It wouldn't be "mon loup". It would be "ma louloute" (though a literal translation of "my wolf" feminine would be "ma louve", which is kind of cute and looks like "love", but when the French want to get cute, they get cute). "Mon loup" is to refer to a male, so if Wednesday was dating Xavier or Tyler, it'd be "mon loup".

When I was growing up in France, one big pet name was "mon chou" (literally "my cabbage", even though it refers to a chou à la crème, i.e. a cream puff). My mother used to call me "mon petit chou", even though at the time I was still *living within my young AFAB body (corrected for clarity, I'm AFAB of course, this was long before my transition); she wasn't and isn't ever accurate with her French, because the feminine of "mon petit chou" is "ma chouchoute/choupinette". (I could see a Wenclair Wends getting creative and creating her own word, "lupinette" based on this.)

Other gendered* appropriate terms of endearment Wednesday would use if so compelled:

"ma biche"/"ma bichette" (my doe/my little doe) (Enid: WHAT did you call me??? 🤣)

"ma tigresse" (my tigress 🐯)

"ma poule" (my hen) or "ma poulette" (my little chick 🐣)

"ma princesse"

"ma douce" (my sweet) (Enid: DID YOU JUST CALL ME A DOUCHE? 💀)

"ma puce" (this is another I heard often, it literally means "flea", but in French it's affectionate)

"ma petite femme" (my little wife)

"ma reine" (my queen)

Finally, it's not "mon chéri", it's "ma chérie". That's the most basic one there is.

There are a ton of others out there, but these are the classics that I remember, and classic is what I assume all canon Ortega Wednesday is. Traditional, allergic to technology, sticks to old fashioned behavior like Donovan (I mean, did you bother to read that one page of her novel from Episode 7? Her writing vocabulary is off the charts and typical of someone raised/trained classically... that's the real reason her publishers probably rejected her).

*I say gendered appropriate (not "gender appropriate") because I'm talking about the language and there are French terms of endearment that do not have a feminine form, like "mon cœur" and "mon amour". These terms you can use for women/girlfriends that are 'masculine' gendered (yes, I realize there are a lot of animal ones, but that's French for ya):

"mon petit monstre" (my little monster)

"mon petit oiseau" (my little bird...oh hello, Sandor, where'd you come from 💩)

"mon poussin" (my chick 🐣)

"mon chaton" (my kitten 🐾)

"mon trésor" (my treasure)

"mon doudou" (my cuddlebug, basically)

"mon coco" (literally coconut, but it's like saying "my dear")

"mon ange" (my angel)

"mon lutin" (my elf...which might by apropos for Enid 🫠)

This is not at all meant to be an exhaustive list; there are several other pet names and probably new ones since language is constantly evolving. It might help to poke around online and/or join forums dedicated to those who speak your target language.

I realize it can be confusing. Non-English romance languages can be, if you don't know anything about them. As a writer, I'm very appreciative of my experiences in France and Italy*, and I think the newer writers need to think outside of the Anglocentric box when writing for a character like Netflix Wednesday. (I need to take my own advice, because I programmed one of my deleted scenes in English audio without thinking of the non-English speakers who read my fic. That's a whole other issue tho 🧠💥.)

Huh. That wasn't as bloody as I could've made it. I must be getting soft in my old age.

Anyway. We all want Wednesday to sound like someone who knows what she's doing. We should do better with our conversational dialogue than the actual writers. We don't want our Wednesday to be embarrassed or embarrassing, again...

*And all the other countries I visited as a kid and adult...I know she's there right now, but I was in Buda in 2014 and while it's one of my favorite cities, Hungarian is the worst language ever 😭 EVER.

Wenclair/Nevermore gang paintball headcanon

OKAY Y’ALL GET TO SUFFER WITH THIS TOO! 

@erzatscarlet​ and I were messing around with different funny ideas the Nevermore gang would get up to and paintball came into conversation. Let me start off by saying, I don’t believe Wednesday enjoys guns in any fashion. Not for moral reason (we know she’s short on morals anyway) but more for “practicality”. Guns are range weapons, and we know damn well Wednesday Addams wants to get up close and personal with her victims. 

So yeah, no guns. BUT! We both agreed she’d be one hell of a marksman thanks to target shooting for fun and being freakishly good at it.

SO, one late fall afternoon, Wednesday agrees to go paintballing with Enid, Yoko, Bianca, Ajax, Xavier and the rest of the Nevermore gang. She DETESTS sports of any kind but enjoys the idea of "hunting". She agrees on one condition: she's allowed to do her own thing and belongs to no team. A rogue agent. They all agree after making her sign a contract stating she won't actually KILL ANYONE or cause SERIOUS BODILY HARM ON PAIN OF ENID AND HER BREAKING UP. Wednesday agrees (begrudgingly) and they all head off. 

The tourney ground they choose is in a heavily wooded area. They get there, get registered, get suited up, and disperse. Enid sticks with Wednesday until she slips away into the woods and the game gets under way. For shits and giggles, the group decides to just do elimination rounds and it's all super fun at first. 

Ajax and his boys get ousted early on. Xavier is a little better and stays in by the skin of his teeth. Bianca's got grace and speed and manages to stay in for longer than expected. Enid is a fucking werewolf and fast as fuck. Yoko is ass-old and knows all kinds of tricks, so by the end of things it's just the four of them trying to pick the other off. No one's really notices Wednesday's missing until Xavier's shot in the back of the helmet with crimson red paint. It's enough of a blow to knock him over (you don't shoot for the head) but he's out and grumpy about it.

Bianca’s next. She's crouched in a really good location behind a crop of trees but she feels the stinging snap (and if you’ve never experienced a paintball exploding against you...it’s hell) of a paintball hitting the side of her neck. Crimson red. She out and pissed.

Yoko's stalking Enid who's gone mostly wolf. She's fast but she's not exactly quiet. Not like a vampire, anyway. Yoko spots the blonde slipping through the underbrush and quietly puts her gun between the V of two trees and takes aim. Just before she can line up the perfect shot at Enid's ass she's shot in the armpit. Crimson paint. She's out and howling cause that fucking hurt and who the fuck uses paintballs the color of blood?

Enid, ears always perked, hears everyone get eliminated. With a little mental math, she's able to figure out it's just her and Wednesday who, up until now, hasn't shown herself or gotten hit. It's almost like she disappeared. Enid knows better and goes on the prowl, looking for a scent. It's sort of cheating but hey, she's a wolf. It's in her nature to hunt. 

Slowly she creeps through the playing field. She thinks she catches a faint, familiar scent somewhere near a shallow gully filled with rotting, fallen leaves from the pervious fall. She THINKS she sees something that looks person-shaped crouching low among the underbrush and pounces before it can get up and run, lighting up the area with paintballs. No dice. It's only an old tarp stuffed with leaves and moss to look like ....WAIT! 

She feels it then. The muzzle of a gun tap the side of her helmet. She freezes. Looks to the side and sees fucking WEDNESDAY ADDAMS IN A GHILLIE SUIT WITH HER FACE PAINTED IN CAMO COLORS GIVING HER SUCH A SMUG HALF-SMILE ALL ENID WANTS TO DO IS THROTTLE HER AND KISS HER IN EQUAL PARTS. 

 "All's fair in love and war, mi loba." 

 AND SHE FUCKING SHOOTS HER GIRLFRIEND POINT BLANK.

Game. Set. Match. 

Wednesday rises victorious among a crowd of angry friends all baying for a rematch. Enid is both furious and hellatiously impressed. Wednesday owes her Starbucks after shooting her in the head. Wednesday replies that to the victors go the spoils. No one knows what she means, but no one really wants to stick around a find out.

Okay so I just saw a Wednesday Adams edit on my FYP which has been a while tbh and it sparkled something I kinda held while I was briefly in the Wednesday Addams fandom. Also trigger warning, this post has opinions btw.

I disliked Wenclair.

LIKE LISTEN. While I very much enjoy the funny content of them together and the wholesome fanart AND I have watched the entire Wednesday Adams show when it came out on Netflix, when the fandom shipped them, I just couldn't get into it.

Like, I love lesbian ships but Wenclair was NOT a hit for me tbh, I preferred Wednesday and Tyler together and trust me, I SCREAMED when they kisses and hoped they could be together until... well for the people who watched it know what happened. For those who didn't, just go look up their kiss scene if you didn't watch or finish the show.

Wenclair in general is cute and I respect those who ship it. For me, personally, I just couldn't get into it at all.

They really like her strong imagery, plot twists, and her stories are pretty gore-heavy but the narration is quite compelling (seriously, she goes so in depth on random macabre shit like different types of murders, ways to cover up said murders, poisons and upkeep on daggers and all this dark shit etc etc that a popular comment she’ll get is ‘hey not to be rude but whats your search history like because how do you KNOW all this??’)

Meanwhile Enid mainly writes fanfics of her fav kpop bands and other OTPs that are often AUs or canon divergent heavy, sometimes she’ll pop off with the most hilarious fanfic that is pure CRACK

That being said, Enid’s works have some pretty damn good dialogue I just know it in my bones that she’s a character driven type of writer

Her emotional introspection is also? Surprisingly good?? Like damn when the feels hit they HIT, Enid is definitely the type to write the fluffest fluff, the angstiest angst, and the most cathartic hurt/comfort you’ll ever read if you make the conscious decision to look past her occasional grammatical errors and other typos

Wednesday’s original works, on the other hand, definitely aren't as much of a heartthrob, they’re probably more plot driven with less space for overly descriptive emotional scenes (both writing styles are valid as hell, mind you)

Anyways Wednesday’s repressed ass starts to ‘vent’ in her fanfics, if people start noticing DaysEnd incorporating more romance into their works no they don't stfu

It gets to the point where she ‘confesses’ to Enid by having Viper confesses to this new bubbly character that was recently introduced (“These feelings you have plagued me with, you make me sick,” said Viper, “And for my sake, I hope there is no cure.”)

Enid, with a lot I mean a metric fuckton of persuasion from Thing, eventually picks up on this and confesses back

Cue Wednesday beta reading Enid’s latest wattpad work and noticing how it’s about two polar opposite roomates who somehow make it work, and when the cheery one says to the gloomy one, “I also hope there’s no cure for the way I feel about you” it suddenly all clicks for Wednesday

first, there's the tropes

black cat and golden retriever (a little bit of a stretch when applied to ronance, but in a vague sense, the energy is there)

enemies to grudging acquaintances to respect and equal footing to first signs of friendship to something Truly Telling tm

5 times wednesday/nancy didn't smile and the one time enid/robin made them lmao

enid and robin are the clear golden retriever gfs here. enid makes her vibrant personality clear through many of her clothing choices, just like robin does. the time periods are different, so it's represented in different ways (enid dyes her hair, paints her nails bright colors, and wears clothes that are clearly meant to stand out. robin cuts her hair short-short, wears clothes that don't exactly conform to society's expectations of fashion for the female youth, covers her bright red converses with. drawings of choice)

they're both incredibly bubbly and determined. they've got that super cheerful outlook that hides something they're ashamed of, something looked down on by society. enid's talk about her fear of dying alone would absolutely hit hard for a teenage robin hyper-aware of the aids epidemic and indiana homophia.

sidenote: i just think it's interesting to look at their differences. enid's insecurity about not wolfing out clearly weighs down on her, and she's constantly reminded of it bc of nevermore's school cliques and whatnot. robin's is more subtle, and there's a stronger fear of confessing and coming out to anyone. therefore, enid's position lends itself well to establishing a place in her community. she runs a blog, and has info on most of the kids at her school. robin tends to fade into the background, despite being in band and at a relatively small (?) high school.

in terms of nancy and wednesday !! their differences are much clearer. wednesday prefers a daunting reputation, and cares very little about what people think of her. nancy, on the other hand, cares very much. but even still, they can be surprisingly kind. nancy crossing the hall to talk to jonathan circa s1 draws parallels to wednesday and eugene. they have drive, but their respective circumstances shape it.

they both have some pretty intense character development to experience. nancy loses barb, which acts as a catalyst for her to break away from the cul-de-sac housewife future she feared. wednesday was insistent on not letting people get close to her, just like nancy, though we don't get as much of an in-depth exploration. i suppose her late pet scorpion could be one moment of loss, but it wasn't the same rising-from-the-ashes moment as nancy had post-barb. they follow similar motions, wrecking their interpersonal relationships a bit more, the heavily questionable love triangle preferably chalked up to teenagers and comphet, and finding a close girl-space-but-no-space friend.

nancy and wednesday act as the "bigger" characters, in the sense that they seem to get more screentime and their own subplots than their gfs. both robin and enid are the talkative, sometimes-can-be-too-much kind. despite their lesser screentime, the audience gets quite attached to these characters

in terms of the heads of the two shows,, the female lead is constantly tormented by two problematic white boys, while her female lead friend is effectively removed from the love triangle. the obviously superior pairing is not found within said love triangle.

regardless. there's that library scene in st4, where robin rambles even when nancy is clearly not upholding her end of the conversation. same vibes as many of the enid wednesday conversations, where enid talks and wednesday stays silent and not particularly amiable. or even the bedroom fight, where they're just listing off small habits of the other and being too upset to confront their underlying feelings ! simply radiates gay-teens-in-a-homophic-town vibes.

there's the crying wolf story, featuring s3 (?) nancy and wednesday trying to follow their instincts but being shot down by authorities and overall having a terrible time (losing jobs, constant fighting, expulsion, death of people, etc).

they're just... all so gay. nancy and wednesday marching into trouble and robin and enid trying to be a voice of reason !! enid and robin coming to terms and being more comfortable with themselves !! the little holding hands and getting down on your knees moves with ronance and the climactic hug with wenclair... infiinitely more chemistry than with the guys they're supposedly attracted to :/

anyway. this is incredibly long, pretty ramble-y, and not super organized, but. i hope you enjoyed :)

Wednesday starts travelling & is writing viper books, both are still in love but having some independance from eachother after being so close in such intense situations & still sending letters & calling eachother. A bad movie adaptation of viper series is made, enid rants about it on stream. -> Wednesday does a remake of bad Viper movie & Enid has a major role & some of other nevermore friends are in it -> Wednesday starts acting/directing etc & becomes a horror scream queen & gets super popular and is also known as super focused and workaholic. wenclair start dating by mid to end of 2nd year! Its also the year when Wednesday finishes the book Hyden truth and gets it published around the time the 2nd semester stars.

The marriage happens right after the proposal (both happening in third year, near the end of the actual lunal rite) with maybe a day or two difference just for them to get better from their wounds. Its also the year that the bad adaption of Hyden truth gets made and showcased.

Wenclair and a few of the gang make their own lil remake by themself after graduation. So its not that good of a quality but the effort is shown. Its posted in Enid's old abandoned youtube channel.

The same summer the remake is made, Wednesday makes and publishes her lil short story book that is going to start the monsterfucker allegations in a year or two.

I definitely think she finds him in this house. Maybe she goes hunting for him but finds him struggling with his sanity since his master is gone. I definitely think he escaped as soon as the van passed the Addams car. If they go down the route of Wednesday being his new master, maybe the Hyde awakened for her. I definitely think in Xaviers' shed when she tried to torture him. Those were real tears, real fear in his eyes. Maybe Tyler was reminded of what Laurel did to him, learning that maybe Wednesday isn't different. Probably just another person who wouldn't listen. Who would just use him.

It's honestly annoying how much people see one small thing and immediately say Wednesday likes them. Most of the plot for season 1 was Wednesday, letting people in. Being somewhat nicer. She does with Enid. She is thankful that her friend saved her even though she's been nothing but stubborn and mean. Same with Bianca, she accepted her as a rival (not in a bad way) and even as a friend. Eugene she let in because he reminded her of pugsley. And she liked the brotherly relationship with him. The fact that she took an arrow for Xavier is irrelevant because, like you said, she's learning to care. Even if it is Xavier.

Exactly. No one can force their opinions. But I rarely see it from wyler. I mostly see it from people who either try to make you look like a racist or homophobic. It's insane how they'll twist your words and make you seem like the bad guy. Can we talk about how Wednesday was in the most none triangle love triangle ever? Like, Wednesday and Tyler were doing their own thing meanwhile Xavier was just kind of there. Now if Wednesday liked Xavier too that would be a proper triangle, but that’s not what played out. She was always upfront with him that she was there for Tyler. He was just guy on the side who had a thing for a girl who’s into someone else. It was never a triangle. It almost confuses why anyone calls it a triangle at all.

Okay but why did the Wenclair break up scene- aka Enid finally standing up fer herself and calling Wednesday out on her constant prioritization of the investigation over everyone else and constant shitty behavior towards them, as she SHOULD mind you- have SO MUCH more weight and impact than every Love Interest Moment between Ajax, Xavier, and Tyler COMBINED? In this essay I will-

Wednesday literally showed no regret for constantly leading Tyler on and using his feelings for her own gain; Enid seems to just like Ajax ‘because he’s cute’ and then moving on ultra quick with Lucas because he was semi-nice to her for like two seconds and she thought that meant they should be together (yes, this is my Comphet Enid Delusions). When Xavier was literally in chains Wednesday still felt little remorse and had the gall to pretty much demand help from him DESPITE LITERALLY BEING THE REASON WHY HES WRONGFULLY IMPRISONED. Also, I love the difference of Wednesday trying to defend herself with, “I apologized. It’s over” as soon as she sees Enid’s distress and THEN getting defensive at Enid’s call out with a, “I never asked you to do that.” Compared to her silence and stone cold expression during Xavier’s, Enid’s call out actually gets a reaction out of her with immediate effects.

When Enid left Wednesday alone in her room she immediately felt SO fucken regretful as she curled up on the floor- ON THE SPLIT OF THE WINDOW MIND U OUGHHH THE SYMBOLISM- and started to lament. Her despondent stare at Enid’s bed as the realization that she’ll likely never see the werewolf on that bed again truly sinks in, her slow walk towards the window, the way she slinks down to the floor and tucks her head into her pulled-up legs with her arms hugging close to herself in a self-soothing manner. Jenna, you are so masterful in conveying characters through sheer body language. Wednesday literally narrates to us that being alone, “For the first time in my life, it doesn’t feel good.” Enid leaving mattered so fucken much to Wednesday, her absence truly made her sit down- literally- and feel actual regret towards her actions. Not nearly getting killed multiple times, not constantly on the verge of being on expulsion, but Enid essentially giving up on her is what does her in.

The imagery standing/sitting on the split of the window is so powerful. One part of her still reaching for the familiar shadowy darkness, and yes this part is still pretty strong as she ends the scene still super determined to find the killer. But the color in her is growing, a half of her that’s shifted and become attached to a much softer side. Enid leaving was 10000% necessary because both needed the space. Enid needed time to recollect and reinforce her boundaries- which she does later and does so spectacularly my babygirl- meanwhile Wednesday has to fully face the consequences of her actions and accept that she needs to do better. This sort of breakup scene- because cmon, the sheer tension and emotional haywire and immediate regret hits you like a TRUCK don’t tell me this wasn’t a breakup- was such a pivotal point of Wenclair’s relationship because without it neither would’ve had the foundation to finally move forward on equal footing. Enid probably would have run herself into the ground trying to people-please Wednesday because she’s so desperate to not be alone while Wednesday would have kept acting like a deflecting, detached goth girlie who keeps moving forward no matter the cost. Now that grievances have been aired, they have this chance to grow and be better, and my god, that’s exactly what they end up doing AND THATS WHY WENCLAIR IS SO FUCKEN GOOD TO AND FOR EACH OTHER‼️‼️‼️‼️

This analysis is getting quite long so here's a final note to reflect on. Not only did Wednesday give zero shits about Xavier in chains, look at how Xavier basically told Wednesday the same thing as Enid. He tells her she's toxic as shit and that she should just leave because her actions keep getting people hurt. In the aftermath, does Wednesday curl up and lament over him too? Do his words impart a change in Wednesday, a need to do and be better? Not even close, homies, not even close. The difference in how Enid's rejection of Wednesday affects her versus Xavier's is so fucken undeniably H U G E it's obvious who Wednesday truly cares about more in the long run and therefore pathetically hilarious how they keep shoving straight romances down our throats when Wenclair clearly holds SO much more chemistry and weight. If anything, the only good thing Xavier’s and Wednesday’s ‘romance’ gave us is a parallel, a foils of sorts, to Wenclair and what a Wednesday who gives no shits looks like to what a Wednesday who gives all the shits looks like.
