When it's politically expediant, the right will allow visible minorities in leadership position and will, in fact, fast track them because they have an X doing/ saying it. Years ago, I read an article about Condoleezza Rice, and part of her decision to join the republican party was the idea that it would be easier to rise being a Black person there than the Democrats.
Part of the appeal of Kemi Badenoch is that she's a Black face being far right. Her race and gender played a part, but not in the way people usually think about it. Kemi also denies that British colonialism made Britain wealthy. Of course, the far right loves her. The right wing LOVES identity, but it's expressed in a very different way everyone loves to deny it is about identity. Working class Black people are hounded for pointing this out and accused of saying Black people think one way and then lectured about the same thing we pointed out because we see it from welloff Black conservative politicians all the time.
I love people ignoring part of why Lizz Trust was selected was because she was white British and Christian vs Rishi. Also, our Parliamentary system doesn't work like the US. Members of the part select their leader, not the general public. We don't know how Kemi will be received as tory leader.

Another ask! its pretty long, hope I’m not bothering😅
I saw your update on the parrot coven and it got me thinking, can a type 2 familiar have a type 1 familiar? if so then scar can have a Jellie 😄 also Grian was exciled from the coven, why didn’t he go back home? making pearl worry smh🥺
I’m also wondering if other characters will make an appearence, and if grian starts a coven of his own- the parrot coven maybe?😏
last one, Grians parents are welloff, do they end up looking for him? or hire someone to look? or they straight up abandoned him?
I also found that my hazelnut 🌰 is actually a chestnut, but keep that on the down-low 🤫
you're not bothering at all omg!!! I love getting stuff like this <333
scar absolutely has jellie, as for if a type two familiar can have a type one familiar,,, hm. I'm gonna have to think on that one !! I'm leaning toward they can't, but also technical things and what not. so we'll come back to that one!!!
as for why grian didn't go back home after being exiled, there's probably a few different ones, but the Main reason is he was hurt and angry after being kicked out of the coven. and the way it happens.... well, I wouldn't want to go back home either if it had been me :')
other characters will make appearances, absolutely >:3 I don't have any plans yet, but I am working on figuring out treebark hehehehe. and if grian starts his own coven.... Hm.
they do end up looking for him, yes! I think that grian writes letters to pearl while in the coven, and he lies to her about how well he's doing so that she doesn't worry about him. but one day the letters just stop coming and naturally pearl is the first to go looking. their parents help her at first before eventually giving up :')

Elemental analysis
I finally watched this movie and when the first trailer came out, I thought I would dislike it but I was WRONG!
Anyway, some analysis like always because the movie is so cool :)
The first analysis you can make of it it's how it well portrayed racism, but I found another reading: how to make things accessible for disable people.
Follow me on this :)
First, about racism:
Based on the short history lesson we have at the beginning, water people are the first to arrive at Elemental City, making it the most accessible for them (water everywhere) and also, the most racist comments are made by water people (the guy on the train where the couple arrived, the guard at the station, Wade's uncle, etc.). So water people represent the people that "were there first". Not necessarly white people, as Asian people in Asian countries could also be racist to Black and Latinx people. Since they were there first, that also explains why water people seem to be the most welloff of the four people.
Fire people being seen as dangerous by default. What I like about the film is characters (only water people) say fire people are dangerous, but the film shows more scenes of Ember being cautious about not being light off because of water being everywhere (city made by and for water people remember?) than the contrary and she is always precautious to not light a fire (except that one scene when she explodes out of stress in the office). But water, clouds and trees could also be dangerous: floods, tsunami, storms, tornados, thunderstorm, a tree falling on you/your house, etc. And fire could also be beneficial (a fireplace, a spitfire) and create and be useful(glass). The only thing making it possible and safe is the environment and organisation. To compare to our real world, it is more plausible for a person of colour to be killed on the streets by "accident" than white people and white people could also be dangerous or criminal.
Which leads to my second point: disability and accessibility.
Fire people are the last of the four people to have come to Elemental City. The first arrival could have been around where the couple arrive. With the tree guard being unfamiliar to their names and giving them "regular names" instead easier for other people to pronounce. (A lot like when Asian people come to Western place they have to choose a Occidental name easier for the people to pronounce instead of them making this one adaptation for a person who already have their environment completely brand new and unacustomed of or when we translate Asian names because we aren't accustomed to the sounds in their language. A thing that was already done to Native Americans.)
When Ember is older, we see more fire people around in a town that have more accomodations for them (but only in their ghetto) with stone instead of wood and the pipeline being shut down. But the place isn't as well maintained than in other area with the double safe door being broken and out of the knowledge of the responsible company, like in poor areas (where POC and immigrants often live) the infrastructure are often poor maintained as well.
But the City hasn't made the other areas accessible for them (with that skyline subway and waterfall just above their heads) or the behaviour aware of their presence (the ola thing for a minus one). The station where the flower is wasn't made of and thought of to be accessible to fire people. So it was easier for authority to just forbid them to go than make accomodations for them to go in safely. Just like authority forget disable people exist and need accomodations to acess certain things like entring and circulating inside a building or take the subway. And I'm talking of both physical disable people and neurodivergent people who are often overwhelmed or seen as weird in public.
So Elemental City could also being seen as a city for able people (water people), different people who can function in this society (as clouds and trees can function with water) and disable people (fire people) for whom circulating in this city takes a lot of energy, planification (umbrella) and being aware of their environment.
Feel free to tell me your thoughts about this and English isn't my first language so sorry if I was a bit clumsy in my choice of words. Please correct me (and explain me if you have the energy) if I did so.

It is d most important spiritualistic idea provided humanity makes materialism subservient to spiritualism-by it I mean being honest, compassionate and kind and meditative on ideas leading to creativeness, cooperation and getting rid of competition. If you look into nature every tree every grass of blade is growing without competition. In competition only few participate and prosper and rest watch , in cooperation everybody contributes, till we do not achieve this human dynamics, living in present is only obtainable by very few renunciants of respective religions or maxi some lucky creative welloff people.
“Only a man who lives not in time but in the present is happy.”

okay so one of the most ordinary WILD thing about living in America is how NON-walkable things are.
We live in a suburb - a nice, sleepy, ordinary suburb in a relatively welloff area. One of the reasons we purchased our house is that it's across the stree from a grocery store, so we don't have to take the car shopping.
for non-Americans, it's a typical American suburb grocery store area: a large parking lot, surrounded by a low, flat building containing three grocery stores, some medical offices, a salon, a small resturant etc (for americans - a strip mall)
The city tries hard to make the city walkable. The sidewalks are, in fact wide and well maintained, there are crosswalks. I can walk to the park, to the city hall, to the high school. Oldest kiddo walks home from his middle school if he decided to stay after the school bus leaves.
but the grocery store - there is NO entry point to the parkinglot/sidewalks next to the store from the street sidewalks. You have to walk in the car entryway (dangerous) or cross some landscaping. You *can* go around to the side where the high schoolers have forged an unofficial gravel "sidewalk", probably the safest if you're able bodied.
it's the same with other stores/stripmalls etc. only exception is the cityhall / library building really.
it's MINDBOGGLING to me. because it's like people think - oh we need sidewalks so people can "walk around the city". It's not - we need sidewalks (and BIKELANES, omfg) so people can use a mode of transport that is not a car.
I'd throw in a pic but I don't have one, but I tell you as a european the insanity of walking on a nice wide sidewalk, then climbing through the landscaping to get to nice wide sidewalk of the store neatly connected to the parking lot - it's something else
(and mind you, my city and area is pretty decent about this. at least I can do it)
"Walkable city" is not "City where to have to walk everywhere."
"Walkable city" is.
Sidewalks big enough to fit you, your stroller, your wheelchair, your guide dog, or anything else you need when you're getting from one place to another.
Safe crosswalks frequent enough so you don't need to walk in traffic.
Bike lanes to keep bikes out of foot traffic and car traffic.
Accessible and affordable public transit.
Cities where the essentials are close enough you can travel on foot (or in wheelchair)
Cities where it's reasonable to be able to get from point a to point b without requiring you, yourself, to drive
People get so caught up in the "Walkable" part of the term and like to spout "Walkable cities are abelist because not everyone can walk".
Bitch. The modern city structure is abelist because not everyone can drive. And classist because not everyone can afford a car and it's pretty damn impossible to get a job if you don't have a car.
Walkable cities are cities where people can reasonably get from pointA to pointB without requiring a motor vehicle.
"But fae. Disabled people have issues using the paths in modern cities." Bitch abled people can barely use the paths in modern cities. That's kind of the fucking problem.
Also walkable cities have fucking benches. Not only for disabled people. But sometimes you just twist your ankle and need to sit for a moment.
"Put fae. If you have benches, homeless people will sleep on them."
Then get fucking housing for the homeless. Problem solved. They'll sleep in their nice warm homes instead of on the benches.

There really is a world of difference between critically interrogating worldviews and bullying. If you feel bullied by someone, politely and sensitively, questioning your position then maybe you lack basic critical thinking abilities or a firm foundation.
One of the ways I "tested" myself was following some rudefems who were anti-even having the word "trans." Even some that really just liked bullying people that looked different or some that just liked bullying everyone (t*ppd*ke lol) and what I learned was, I didn't fall to pieces if someone doesn't believe what I believe or do what I do. I can't say I would have had that same response when I was younger, more fragile and sensitive, but it's true now. As you grow you really do mature and learn to engage with different people with different perspectives. And that's ok. It doesn't have to consume you. I definitely don't suggest following mean-spirited bullies or people that enjoy being cruel and hurtful to unconventional or nonconforming people. I'm not even suggesting following people that disagree with your opinions (have a fun dashboard lol) but I am suggesting that if you're an adult who feels serious distress over someone with a different perspective on gender then maybe you aren't being well served by your current perspective if it can't handle a lil questioning.
