isn't it weird how if you get up at 7 or 8, do your work all day, then have free time and go to bed at 11 that's absolutely fine

but if i said i get up at 10, do fun stuff in the morning then work in the evening and go to bed late, i could be called lazy, nevermind that i'm getting just as much or MORE work done as i would in a traditional work day

fionna's world being represented by a dandelion makes so much sense ... they're weeds. yet people make wishes through them, changing their whole meaning from something meant to be destroyed to something hopeful.

dandelions are also resilient and it makes sense that something associated with them would. you know. perservere despite the destruction caused by the scarab.

but ultimately i think what REALLY made me tear up over this is that dandelions are really boring plants. when you're a kid you blow on them and make your wish but they're not eyecatching or anything but still, fionna's final wish was for her old world to still exist as it was when she left it (> plain and simple. boring even).

like the moment she realized she would lose her friends, and that her friends might forget each other if the world got its magic back, she immediately decided she didn't want it and I think that ties back to the dandelion metaphor so well... like, do you really need magic to be real to find it everywhere? or can you turn something boring into something magical?

Back when all I knew about Twst was fanart I thought things like fairies not being able to resist Leona (fairy gala), Jack wagging his tail and then denying it while it is actively happening and Rook hunting his classmates for sport was just fandom hivemind stuff.

Every time I come across something from art that turns out to be real I am delighted, like Jamil’s towel conversation with Kalim before GloMas, I was 130% sure you’d made that up and could not stop giggling.

Trey's Mustard Mania is up there, but I think my favorite will always be Azul's robes story, in which -- I know I've talked about this before, but honestly we should be talking about this 24/7 because really -- it turns out the secret ingredient in Vil's fancy high-end moisturizer is Floyd. Vil has been spending the entire story walking around with Floyd Juice rubbed into his face. what does that mean? who knows! they just wring Floyd out like a towel (somehow?!) offscreen and put the drippings into a cute bottle and sell it to Vil for an exorbitant price! this is just something that happens in canon! why not!

also, the birthday boy sashes. for some reason no one ever believes the birthday boy sashes are real at first, and it's always a sheer delight to see "WAIT, IT ACTUALLY SAYS BIRTHDAY BOY?!" on my activity page. :D

She remembered seeing a similar pattern on a coat, only it was a different shade of grey, a much lighter one. Ominis had started wearing it more often in this weather. The thick fabric, neat detailing, and expensive trim—it looked like something from Gladrags, but with a more sophisticated, restrained style. The man’s stature also reminded her of Ominis, though this face held no familiar traits. Alyn pleaded for this pattern not to mean Gaunt, but to simply be a tailor’s logo or some abstraction. ・・・

・・・“Weird thing, that these myths and legends are in the Restricted Section,” Alyn commented, casting him a sideways look and tapping the spine of the book at the bottom of the stack. “I flipped through, but they seem like pretty gruesome, creepy tales. Seeking some bedtime stories?”

“Possibly,” Sebastian shrugged so dramatically indifferently that Alyn snorted in amusement. She kept her eyes fixed on him. He was usually the one who could stare through someone, but when she gave him the exact same look, he faltered like a child. ・・・

i like the idea that hugo is more of a feral little freak than some people give him credit for. to me his character is heavily built upon being ever so particular about literally everything that he just comes off as weird and pretentious. he LOVES his nice clothes but doesnt actually give a shit about looking attractive (he just wants to look cool). i dont think he could ever care enough to develop a routine to care for his appearance aside from things like making sure his spikes on his goggles are properly spaced. he'd make fun of eugene for his hour long skin and hair routine even though he spends as much time meticulously hand washing his gay ass steampunk coat

this Thing could sleep anywhere and has multiple times crashed in his workspace. which is FINE. he knows how to be safe around dangerous chemicals. Ok

i think there comes a time where he expects nuru to be sort of like eugene in that way too (though he doesnt know about eugene's tendencies at this point)- but she's ROYALTY and u know what theyre like. only to find out she's just. kind of also a messy little freak in a lot of ways. part of their bonding

considering varian carries around bath bombs i think he's more likely to try to keep a nicer routine. but he just kind of forgets. a lot. and doesnt care quite enough to fix that

don't really vent here much these days but man. me/cfs has really affected what things i can enjoy now

not only am i fighting for my life against depression to get into things and Stay invested i also need to factor in fatigue and brain fog so reading and actually understanding a book can take forever now

and going outside? i have to figure out how far i can go/what's my halfway point (alone my range is very small basically just walks around my area that are nowhere near the distance i used to be able to cover, and I rarely get to go places these days because no one's really got the time/energy to come with me or take me and I really can't handle public transport these days. and I suppose it's hard to go somewhere sorta far alone now. I want/need someone with me.)

just... sigh. the boredom and loneliness are probably the worst thing about this. the worst is the isolation though
