Danganronpa Despair Time Chapter 2: Episodes 3, 4, and 5

Episode 3

-so no teruko traitor reveal? pog

-monotv’s incompetence makes him my favorite host of any killing game. reminds me a lot of danganronpa: safety’s on, basically DR1 but Monokuma is about as incompetent as MonoTV is. it’s a great read, highly reccommended.

-teruko being bad at caulking a bathroom is so me. also of course monotv isn’t going to reveal the information but him not knowing it himself is interesting.

-charles’ straight up phobia of blood is uh... there’s clearly something deeper going on here

-teruko, put the fucking knife away. as much as it’s within reason that you’d be this paranoid, this does make you look like you are trying to murder Charles here, at least to him.

-id love to know whose motive Charles had, now that Teruko’s got it.

-loving charles and teruko actually being friends of some sort now that their positions have basically reversed since chapter 1.

-Arei’s typical ew reaction to everything, unsurprising. Makes sense she’d want to talk about motive though given her position.

-Granted leaving Arei out was before Xander died but nO AREI YOU ARE BECOMING A WORSE TERUKO LIKE AM I THE ONLY ONE NOTICING THE PARALLEL HERE OR AM I SEEING THEM WHERE THERE ARENT ANY?

Of course! But holy cow apparently this seriously inspired me, i hope this is ok xd

Oh yes robot boi. Iida is someone nerdy in every aspect, his language even with close friends like Midoriya is very formal and polite, the same rule would apply when it comes to his significant other. Unlike what some would think, this doesn’t give your conversations a cold touch, on the contrary, it’d make him look chivalrous.

He’s a classic gentleman, he’d be the kind who opens the door and waits for you to walk in first or gives you his jacket when it’s too cold and you don’t have anything to cover yourself with, the second one would happen often in the classroom if you’re sensitive to cold. We are talking about U.A have you seen the measures of the classrooms and the entire area? It’s impossible they don’t have those huge air conditioners.

He highly respects the rules wich means, no PDA, on a certain level, no kisses to be specific. That doesn’t mean he won’t give you any affection, though every gear of his robotic soul is having a bad time working properly inside, he’d hold your hand or put his over your shoulder pulling you close when you’re sitting together.

He definitely would do that thing of caressing you with his thumb. As you expected it from Tenya, this is a sort of robotic motion, his finger would move like a metronome but that doesn’t make it any less nicer, he is slow and gentle.

Honestly, he’d be nervous most of the time. ALSO! Tenya is very thoughtful, he’d ask (often verbally) if you’re okay with whatever he’d do, as times goes by the questions turn non verbal, for example he’d hold his hand above yours waiting for you to give green light or grasp it.

“..Can i hold your hand?” “Sure!” “*DEEP INHALE AND BLUSH*” He couldn’t help to blush the first times. Specially on the firsT kiss but how would it be? A clasic scenenario after classes! And after you both have grown comfortable enough to each other’s touch. Seriously, if you like to go slow he's got you.

You two would be walking around in the campus after classes and he feels the tension grow.. he is analyzing every detail, he wants to ask but what if things get extremely awkward, he’s very tall- he’d have to bend down slightly (unless you’re nearly as tall as him) to do it so what if you flinch because it was unexpected.. he stops walking, he simply manages to say your name. You stared into each other's eye and then it happened, a big smile unexplainably forms in his lips complemented by a scarlet color across his whole face, his haircut made his head look like a strawberry.

There are going to be days you don't see him as much as you'd like, Tenya is very comitted to his hero patrols, he certainly would do extra hours from time to time or if the situation called for it. Let him know you like his hero suit! He’s thankful it has a helmet otherwise his flustered face would be exposed.

Whatever position you cuddle in Iida would wrap his arms around you, not only that, he’d interlock his fingers so he has a nice grip. His cuddles would be the classic spooning or having your head on his shoulder with your arm over his chest and in case you worry about his arm, this guy doesn’t know limb numbness- he literally tenses and holds his arms up every five minutes.

He sends good morning/good night texts often on the weekends since you're practically living together thanks to the dormitory system, they vary depending on the day, some are a reminder to get a proper amount of sleep or! To get done with homework so you can enjoy your free time and maybe ask if he can go over to study *cough spend time together*

He'd send the classic heart emoji, very detailed but easy to comprehend videos explaining any difficult lesson and history related stuff like paint restorations or facts about iconic sculptures. Please don’t send him those videos of people accidentally breaking things on museums, he’s gonna feel like something breaks inside.

This ray of sunshine fell for you? Your luck is so big you’d get jackpot on a slot machine on the first try-. You’re undeniably going to be good friends with Tamaki and Nejire, specially her, expect to get questions one after another without the chance to reply when she finds out you’re Mirio’s significant other, Tamaki would take it way better.

Mirio’s goofyness and confidence combined with his feelings give a unique result: he literally spoke to the boss of mafia himself twice like he was the manager in a store, but, the case is different when you’re around, he’s saying and actually good joke and suddenly.. it goes away, his mind goes blank. “So what happened after Mirio..?” “Ah.. i had practiced a lot, i don’t know what happened haha my bad!”

You’re going to get tons of his jokes and something more “intense” such as the classic “What’s in your shirt?” to make you look down so he can boop your nose with his finger, you should expect some gentle headpats as well.

If you’re shy he’s cool about it, he knows what do and adaptates to your pace, you’d start off with hand holding or rather pinky holding, he’d interwine his pinky with yours and show a bright smile. His hugs are the warmest, he doesn’t do it half-assesly, when you hug, YOU HUG, he uses both arms and slightly lifts you up! Height or strength are not a problem he’s actually one cm taller than Iida i just found out

He seems like the kind who loses their pen or eraser despite seeing it on their desk just one minute ago, if you happen to be that kind as well you’re both going to lay down your faith on poor Tamaki’s hands, i’m sure he has all his material complete.

He hardly ever gets nervous or scared by anything, things like the first kiss would go pretty smooth, instead of blushing intensely he’d just chuckle with slight disbelief, his mind is racing like “I just did that? woah!”. The biggest trouble for him would be gifts, he wants it to be perfect but asking Nejire for advice is not a good idea, roses are too formal and they don’t last long, going to the movies seems a little cliche.. his first gift would end up being a plushie of your favorite animal and a bamboo.

He’d sneak a kiss or two, specially before the class is begginning a training session, he’d send you a text telling you to go outside the changing rooms and oop! He phases through the wall poking out his head to give you a kiss kiss. If you don’t mind a prank from time to time he’d give a little scare using his quirk.

This guy is the big spoon during cuddles, no arguing! He could switch but as time goes by he’d slowly shift into the big spoon, that’s just the way he is, the most usual position would be where you’re facing each other with your limbs wrapping around the other’s body. Waking up with him would be adorable and attractive, morning and night are the only times of the day when his hair isn’t gelled into his All Might-like hairstyle, those blonde locks would frame his face, a heavenly sight.

Would send you a pic of stray animals he rescued with a “:D!�� and Sir. Nighteye 'torturing' Bubble girl (half of his head visibly on a corner of the image). If you longed for a pet badly he would bring a nice dog/cat he finds around! In his hero suit to make the moment more special.

He uses the smiling emojis and emoticons! And shares videos of animals he finds adorable, if you sent him fails videos he'd laugh as long as the falls don't seem extreme or too severe, small trips on the beach or slips on the snow are fine. Mirio sends gifs i just know.

A I Z A W A

Have you taken a look at him? You must be a big The Walking Dead fan to like him lmao. Aizawa gives me an unexplainable gut feeling that he'd prefer a civilian (perhaps quirkless?) significant other over a hero, he wouldn't want his partner to go into the same dangerous situations he does.

His affection is tired, let me explain, he'd hug you and all that physical stuff but it'd kinda feel like his arms fall limply around you, still, even with his minuscule clingyness he loves you with all his might! He doesn't fall for anyone.

Not very fond of PDA, in public he'd preferr temple/forehead kisses and having your hand on the crook of his arm instead of hand holding (thinking about it Iida would do that too), seems more discret and! you don't let go when his hands are busy. He'd initiates it by gently resting your hand on his arm and sinking his hand into his pocket.

Surprise! He does smile, not that maniactic-looking grin he has sometimes during his shifts at U.A when a student impresses him, this one is less wide but somehow more tender and sweet, he tilts his head and for once his eyes seem relaxed, a relationship would make his cheeks hurt.. either for he's not used to smile so much or he smiles more than he thought he would.

If you give him a cat.. that's a strong blow straight to one of his weakest spots, he'd stare both at you and the kitten with a dumbfounded look before picking it up in his arm like a baby, his hand gravitates towards his it's head giving some nice pets before he shows a rare and somewhat bright smile "Thank you very much." Next time have a camera ready damnit! That smile rarely shows up.

He's practical, he wants his gifts to be nice but useful as well. He’d get you those mugs with candies inside, you get the candy and you can use the mug later for your coffee or tea; a power bank with a nice color or design and in case he choses something smaller: a bamboo, those one don’t wither away. Aizawa is fine with whatever you get for him, big or small he appreciates it. Sweaters, scarfs and blankets would be his favorite thing to get though, he likes to stay warm while working late at night

He’s sneaky, as an underground hero he’s used to work at times when the streets look disolated and the dark crime has more freedom to do as it pleases, he wouldn’t want to wake you up unless you asked him to. He’d leave a note on is pillow with the time he wrote it at and a short loving phrase like “i love you, i’ll be back soon, good morning”, before he leaves he’d always lift the sheet up to your neck or drag it away if you seem to be kicking it off you and give you a small kiss.

You’d find him passed out in his sleeping bag with his laptop besides him at random spots of his appartment, if it wasn’t because of the unatura position he adopts to fit in his sleeping bag he’d give you a death scare ‘cause let’s be honest he doesn’t look one hundred percent alive even when he’s awake. “Shota..? Shota can you hear me?!” “I’m not dead.”

Hibrid of big-small spoon. Most of the times you cuddle he’s asleep and you go snuggle him, his hair is a mess so better prepare to get tickled all night. He pull you close the best way he can when you’re behind him, not very comfortable for his arm but it’s worth it. He’d have you like a pillow over him, his chin over your head and both arms around you.

This man doesn’t bother typing when he can use his voice, the only situations he uses regular text messages are when he’s on shift or with you sleeping next to him. Send him gifs of kittens and a ‘i love you’ it instanstly gives him a good mood! He’d send pics of cats he sees around and gifts he bought you, doesn’t use emojis.

I probably significantly overestimate the squishiness of babies lol. I'm legit terrified of holding anything younger than 6 months. Have successfully avoided it with all four of my younger cousins. But at any rate, the answer to car safety in the 1920's is No.

I wonder if the accident could aggravate his spinal injury... I don't know enough about medicine.

The grandmothers are... yeah you pretty much described it already. It's fucking devastating :( Poor Matthew. People really aren't paying attention to his emotions at all. He's like, baby is safe, the estate is safe, nobody here needs me anymore. Bye. Poor guy is always carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Robert would not be helping either.

I was thinking William finding him (because he does seem to be rather adept at saving Matthew's life), and then Sybill doing the actual saving medically. But either would be interesting.

Tom and Sybil speaking Irish with each other was definitely wish fulfillment on my part 😅 (I, like most people in North Germany don't speak any Low German because ✨ classism ✨ but I really wish I did and am trying to learn it as an adult). That one goes into my forever headcanons.

And I like Sybil connecting with Irish people! It would be like her refuge from "the life by the rule of the gong" to loosely quote Miss Bunting. It's a place where she could be herself. And it would definitely be another source of conflict, if she tells her parents about it. The longer she'd stay at Downton, the more it'd wear her down and the unhappier she would be. I really think returning to Ireland is the happy ending for her. And she deserves a happy ending.

Also I really want Tom's mom to make an appearance or four. She's a formidable woman but so nice no one can say anything bad about Tom in her vicinity.

Silly little crack thing to break up the sadness: Tom and Sybil agreed to only argue in Irish. This is because it's supremely hard to stay mad when you need to help each other out with vocabulary in the middle of a fight. And it makes people think before they say something.

I think Edith and Blake are a better match than Mary and Blake. They are both fairly down to earth people. They take a hands on approach. And I think they'd see and appreciate each others qualities. They are well suited :) She'd have a hard time finding her footing, with no Tom and Matthew uninterested. Blake could help her gain the confidence she needs to stand up to Robert. And I love them kissing in the pigsty! She'd then learn there's also a baronetcy as part of the package and be like "Huh, well I won't say no."

On a different note, I just realised how heartbroken Carson would be when Mary dies :(((((((

And downstairs they would react strongly to Tom's death too! They knew him, better than the family. Especially Mrs. Hughes, she always tried to look out for him ("be careful my lad, or you'll end up with no job and a broken heart"). Whole essays could be written about their relationship. And Anna would react strongly, too. Daisy, just because she's extremely compassionate. Carson... 😬 William, Moseley and Mrs. Patmore would be sad, but not very I think. They didn't know him that well.

Completely agreed that the Grantham's notoriety would make Rose staying at the Abbey unlikely... but it's been like 3 (?) years at that point. Maybe things quieted down enough? Probably not, idk enough about early 20th century society for this.

We'll find some excuse.

And you are sooooo on point for Roses characterisation. She can be thoughtless and unintentionally hurtful. But when she isn't, she's very compassionate and sweet. Her at her ball, fending off young women from bothering Matthew xD. And I can see her using her tendency to plan surprises and make elaborate plans to sneak sway for Matthews sake. An opposite Miss Bunting scenario of a sorts.

And putting her in direct contrast to Sybil would be interesting too - narratively she's Sybil's replacement, but they actually aren't very similar. Sybil cares about politics and wants to make the world a better place. Rose wants to kiss and dance with pretty boys, with no thought given to convention, class or ethnicity. They are both very sweet people, though. I think they'd get on well, though I'm not sure they'd have much to talk about. One thing Rose would do is see nothing wrong with the way Sybil is raising Patricia. She'd be like "What's the problem? I think it's splendid!"

And yes I am also very fascinated by this AU <3

AU where instead of Sybill and Matthew, it's Tom and Mary that die.

Thoughts and Reaction to ROCKETEAR!

It's a long post, but when are these ever really short? xD Seeing Carapace first made me so excited. I've been sad we haven't had much of him in the show. And then I saw that it seemed like Ladynoir was doing pretty good as they only had Carapace helping them this time. More S2 & S3 like. So I was like cool, cool, this is great. But what the heck scientist WHY ARE YOU BRINGING TYRANNOSAURUS REX'S BACK! Obviously she's going to be something big later on, she's too nicely animated not to be back. Not to mention Bob Roth's plans. Anyone else both intrigued but also scared at what that could do later? Big upcoming plot point, I think.

I screamed awwww because this is everything. I've wanted a LB/Carapace and Marinette/Nino friendship bond in this show since season 1. This scene made me incredibly happy! I'm a huge Nino fan, for those that don't know, so you can imagine how much I love this episode. Even though sad Nino.

"Alya, everyone has to believe that you will never use the Miraculous again!" End of episode: So anyway... So what I'm seeing here is, Alya's not fond of the idea of being just a spy, not being in on the action. Even though it's Ladybug's plan. Chat Noir isn't fond of what's going on right now either, where he thinks what's going on is all Ladybug's plans. Alya makes the decision to not do what Ladybug wants and tells Nino she's still Rena Rouge. So what's Chat Noir going to do to go against her? Because that's coming up on the horizon. Despite everything being easier for Marinette since everything's not just on her shoulders now, she's still been unable to play video games with her dad, and we know how much she loves doing that. :c That's really sad she doesn't even have time for her family anymore. DJWifi over here being all adorable. "You don't love me anymore!" Me: *Chat Blanc flashbacks* Alya suggests her new content could be Chat Noir edits and Marinette's like YES DO THOSE. Then those edits helped push Nino into thinking she was into Chat. Big oops. Not gonna lie, the rewind freaked me out for a moment. Last time I saw that was Chat Blanc so I thought something big was up. But nope, it's just like that scene in Puppeteer 2. Ugh poor Nino! He knows something's bothering Alya, but she won't say what it is and her behavior's too off from how she normally is. Poor guy. x.x Grumpy Nino that Carapace doesn't get attention and then they wrote his girlfriend with Chat Noir. I remember when Alya was grumpy for a bit about Rena Rouge not getting a party to celebrate her. Movie Ladybug telling Movie Chat Noir that he's better with Movie Rena Rouge. Is this a reference to the episode in Avatar, The Ember Island Players? Getting strong vibes when Play Aang and Play Katara were like, we're just friends nothing more and it's great! Play Katara was extremely into Play Zuko. I can see why Ladybug dismissed the movie (or was it the previous one since it's been awhile? Maybe?) because Rena Rouge and Chat Noir???? The writers (of the movie) just wanted to be different because everyone can see Ladynoir, unless they're blind. Alya and Nino are Andre's favorite couple. YES THANK YOU. I mean they're not my favorite because Love Square. BUT they're my second favorite next to them. Those kids are super adorable but definitely that kid playing Chat wasn't doing Nino any favors. First picture Alya shows. Chat with a heart tail. Yeah that's not doing her any favors lol. Nino: UGH CHAT NOIR'S COMING IN BETWEEN ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND. I KNOW, I'LL CALL MY BEST FRIEND TO VENT TO ABOUT IT. Best Friend Chat Noir: Best Friend Chat Noir: Welp maybe I should see what's up. Maybe I went a little to hard on the cat charm and she's fallen in love with me. Me: Oh oof here we go. Also can I ask, if anyone knows, who animated this episode? The fluidity is great and it looks really pretty. But it doesn't quite look like SAMG's work either. Whoever did it, I love it. S2 Chat Noir: You're not replacing me with a turtle, are you? :c S4 Nino: Who would want a reckless turtle as a partner? BOYS STOP. But yeah this whole scene had me laughing so hard XD Very dramatic and I love it. Nino's hilarious even when he's worried and sad! I would've absolutely loved to have heard this in English with the old English voice of Nino, but the new one worries me on whether or not he'll do a good job sounding like Nino and less high-pitched and whiny. :/ New York Nino was great but S4 Nino....x.x THE TRANSITION BETWEEN HIS INNER MONOLOGUE AND SPEAKING REGULARLY AGAIN 😂😂😂😂 Brilliant! It doesn't really feel like Miraculous Ladybug this episode, and I love it. Not that I don't love the show as usual but wow this is great. Okay, I want to point out that Chat Noir

probably was more worried about it than he would've been otherwise because of what happened with Marinette in Weredad. It probably made him more cautious about this sort of thing.

LOL Chat's sulking because Alya's laughing at the idea of being interested in him. 😂😂 I know that's a blow to one's ego and all, and he's dealt with this kind of thing a lot so I do feel bad for him, but that is his best friend's girlfriend and he definitely doesn't want her to like him. Alya: With him it's not just ❤️it's *makes massive hand gesture indicating she loves him deeply* SO SO SO CUTE OKAY ALL THIS DJWIFI 😭 Alya: And I don't even know your secret identity! I would never fall in love with someone I don't know. Chat Noir, literally fell in love with Ladybug, whose identity he doesn't know. Well Alya, I wonder if you saying that matters for later somehow.... o.O Nino running away crying is honestly one of the things that hurts me most in the entire show. Ugh. Adrien over here being all, I'm having a good day. I'm happy and smiling and it's great. And then it wasn't. Adrien, if Nino let him and didn't interrupt, would've told him about how Alya really doesn't love Chat Noir, and that would've seriously led up to his identity being exposed since Nino was watching and filmed them. o.o Did you notice how he was going to tell him about it? S4, the basement is where it's at. Adrien: Uhh, when did you arrange all this? Nino: *pounds fist on desk* I ASK THE QUESTIONS! 😂 So like. Why is Nino interrogating Adrien when he's after Chat Noir? He doesn't know they're the same person. XD He's looking at him like Adrien has info he's keeping or something omg.

Also again this animation is so nice. Adrien, feeling uncomfortable and so turns the music off. Nino, wanting his dramatic music on while he interrogates Adrien, turns it back on. Adrien, feeling even more irritated and uncomfortable, wants the music OFF and turns it off. Nino, turns the music back on. This may be a reference to something, I don't know, but lolol it's so funny. This episode is both super hilarious and super angsty! Honestly they've done such a good job in my opinion. Nino: I'm talking about something that I shouldn't tell you! ...but I'm going to tell you anyway! Alya's Rena Rouge and I'm Carapace! Okay but the way Adrien went from shock to utter anger, knocked his chair back and grabbed Nino's shoulders like "Tell me the truth. You two know about each other?" Aw man, my poor sunshine boy. A lot of the stuff bothering Adrien is all circumstantial, none of it is to purposefully keep him in the dark. And yet from his perspective, that's how it looks. "I thought secret identities must be protected at all times! If that was the truth, you would never tell me this!" Alright so three things. If he's referring to him saying that Nino and Alya know about each other, that was situational and important info for him to know now that this is out. It wasn't important to know before this. The time it happened was dire and was really no time to get around it. If he's talking about Nino telling him the secrets, well yeah that's not supposed to happen and Nino broke that trust. But also, I get the feeling pretty strongly at this point Adrien's going to be breaking some rules too and one of which is he's going to tell Nino who he is. Adrien's being too emotional in this scene to not be involved in it all, I'm wondering if that's going to be questioned later by Nino. He's acting like he knows too much to be a random viewer of the heroes like the rest of Paris. Also Adrien's best friend just totally dissed Chat Noir and went off about how he throws himself at Ladybug whenever he sees her with roses and love confessions. 😂😂😂 This is just too funny! "But he's always rejected because Ladybug finds him annoying! And she's completely right!" Omg Nino, that's not the reason anymore, shush! "And then Rena Rouge appears and he goes *tickles under Adrien's chin* hey pretty lady! You look elegant and you have great perfume." OMG does Chat Noir actually say and do stuff like that to Rena Rouge or is he just exaggerating here XD "If I could I would shut his mouth forever!" Yeah Nino, say what you really think about your best friend in the entire world. Yikes poor Adrien though. Well at least there will be no misunderstandings there! xD "Chat Noir, you stole Alya from me! I will steal your life from you." Good lord man calm down. You can't just kill a man! Fanon: Chat Noir gets attacked by a guy over Marinette. Canon: Chat Noir gets attacked by a guy over Alya. Time to go back to the basement! lol Nino's music's still playing xD And the video is left with it paused on Chat Noir hugging Alya. Marinette looked a bit sad, but it was probably more about the situation being a mess rather than being sad he'd hug her. Meanwhile, Chat Noir's fighting Nino and would rather get beaten up by him than fight. x.x "I can't believe that I doubted you." "I can't believe I chose to do anything but be with you!" She wiped away akumatized Nino's tear just like how Ladybug wiped away akumatized Chat Noir's. ALL THE PARALLELS 😭😭😭 But that hug is so sweet!! So um. The placemet of Adrien's poster in between Chat Noir, Ladybug, and just with this entire situation feels very strange. Very intentional. But no clue exactly what that could mean..... Nino and Alya are happy over there watching those two, like they're waiting for them to figure things out or something. But really, Adrien should've talked to Ladybug when he could still do so calmly and be reasonable. I doubt that's going to be the case later on. And honestly Ladybug doesn't even know what's going on. Every episode we've seen really either has them working together or she's unable to be Ladybug when he's unable to be Chat Noir most of the time. I've said it before but these two really need to communicate. Nino and Alya are like a less adorably romantic version of what they'd be. "But they're a couple and they know their secret identities, so why does that rule exist for us but they can know?" Very simple. Because they were temporary holders and the Miraculous they had, Hawk Moth hasn't made it his life's mission to obtain, unlike them, who are permanent holders and Hawk Moth's been after them fiercely to make a Wish that could destroy everything. But. The fact he's asking this, and Marinette's Chat Blanc nightmare, really points in the direction that he's going to eventually find out that while she's thought about telling him all along, Chat Blanc's kept her from doing so.

Okay, so while it looks like he's staring up at the moon, if you notice, it really is just one of the pink bubbles.

Now, they could be making it seem like it's the moon though to give it a double meaning. But poor Kitty, he's feeling so awful right now over in that dark corner Dx Nino felt bad for only two episodes? and it got resolved, so hopefully this all won't last too much longer for him! Marinette had a few shaky episodes so hopefully he'll have a few before it gets resolved. But somehow I think that may be wishful thinking. This episode was so amazing, honestly. Wonderful writing, made me laugh a lot, aw a lot, and hurt a lot. It focused on the core 4 characters which I've wanted more of for a long time. The animation was beautiful. And it just felt so different in such a good way. Chat Noir's having a hard time right now, and I know there's a lot of anger and hate about it going around. But please, think of this as him hitting a rough spot in the road to a much better and brighter future. He's going to end up okay, he'll understand it all someday. And that day's honestly not that far for him if you think about it.

OHHHH. LTL 17 take 3 was when I tried to rewrite the transformation scene from Sirius' POV to see if I could get through it any easier, so this doc picks up right where the other ended haha. Lemme just look through the others rq...

9 crimes (more excerpts) was me comparing before and after paragraphs for... I think this is chapter 12? The quidditch one.

Some of the senior Order members showed up to coordinate some massive intelligence briefing they were supposed to have soon (sensitive information, very hush-hush) and they’d wanted to schedule it for Wednesday — only Remus couldn’t make it, obviously, owing to the fact that he’d be in a bit of a hairy situation that night. And that by itself wasn’t a dealbreaker — Sirius was more than up to the task of briefing him afterwards — only Arthur, of all people, had asked if Remus would be making himself scarce for the evening. Which, well, he couldn’t, owing to the whole unofficial house-arrest bit. They had the option between holding the meeting with Remus locked safely in the cellar, or relying on secret missives and word of mouth and hoping they weren't overheard or intercepted. They chose the latter. Remus, saint that he was, kept a stiff upper lip about it. (“Right. Excuse me for a moment.” “Oi, where you going?” “Oh, I dunno Dung. Thought I’d nip over to the shops for a bite — I’m going for a piss, is that allowed? Or do I need a minder now? Make sure I don’t eat anyone on the way there, like.” “Now, now, we’re all friends here, Lupin—” “Shut the fuck up Doge.”) …Sort of. Arthur had pulled Sirius aside afterwards and insisted he hadn’t meant anything by it — he’d only been curious, not uncomfortable — but the damage was done. And it was Remus he’d needed to apologise to, only Remus hadn't returned to the meeting after he'd stormed off. Sirius found him holed up in the study, nursing the remnants of the last bottle of whisky and taking apart the old grandfather clock again with a harsh set to his shoulders and an aura like hazard tape: danger, do not cross. So he hadn't. Anyway, that had been Sunday.

And then...

It was quicker now than it used to be, for a mercy, but Padfoot still stood between Moony — now sprawled across the floor with his chest heaving like he’d run a marathon — and Dora, who stood at his right flank with her hand hovering over the wand strapped to her thigh. Remus would appreciate the caution, if the potion worked (and even more if it didn’t.) Moony rose to his feet slowly, shaking himself from head to tail — it fluffed his fur up adorably, though Sirius would never tell him that to his face — and sat back on his haunches, regarding them with a curious, amber-eyed stare. Padfoot met his gaze unblinkingly, a low growl sounding through his chest. You know the rules, Remus. You set them. Moony yawned and lay down flat on the floor, head on his paws, tail wagging slowly behind him. Padfoot approached cautiously, sticking his nose directly against Moony’s cheek. No reaction. A good sign — a good start — but he had to be sure. Remus would never forgive him otherwise. Padfoot started forward as if he were about to pounce, claws digging into the floor. Moony’s ears pinned back, but he didn’t so much as flinch. Padfoot did it again. Twice, three times — and on the third jump, Moony moved with him, teeth grazing gently (playfully) against his jaw before he backed off and bowed down, eyes bright and tail flopping lazily over his back. Padfoot leapt forward, bowling Moony over and pinning him onto the floor, earning himself a series of bunny kicks to the belly for his trouble. Wolfsbane did nothing for the pain, but as selfish as it was, Sirius would be lying if he said this wasn’t worth it.

So that worked out nicely!

The nether was hot- Stifling so. Its heat rushed over her in waves, sweat seeping through the fabric of her gloves and sticking to her skin as she mined into the netherack, causing her to lose her grip on her pickaxe more times than she would like to admit.

The journey there had been a quick one; She had stuck to dimly lit areas when possible and kept her head down, trying to blend in as much as she could (which, y'know, was incredibly difficult for a six-foot-something… person but she managed).

"For fucks sake!" She hissed, scrambling back as lava began gushing from the hole she'd just made and made the wise descision to quickly change directions," Fucking stupid hellscape!"

Wanna know what else was stupid? HD, the fucking bitch.

Part of Rose wished for another war would occur, for both the misery and destruction factor (the lands would be ripped apart once again, leaving the bastard bloodied and bruised). While the other part wished for no such thing, foolishly craving happier times. Times where she was held in a higher regard, viewed in a brighter light.

She hoped that part of her suffocated and died. She hoped weeds would snuff the guilt-ridden thoughts. She hoped that- that she could make them hurt. Hurt as much as she was and-

Kchrrr!!

Rose stared at her empty hands in momentary shock. Was iron that fucking useless now?

No matter. She sighed, pulling her satchel closer to her body- if this all went wrong because of one, silly mistake, she doubted her ego would ever be able to heal itself- and flipped it open.

The contents of the bag were few, primarily consisting of a powdery, black substance, yet a small smile crawled onto her face.

Why? Well, for her own sake (and for the eyes that may be watching), she could not say. But maybe… just maybe… this holiday would end off with a bang.

Although she would say otherwise, her hands shook slightly as she got to work, adrenaline pumping in her veins.

It didn't matter if the gods would hate her and it didn't fucking matter if- if someone else got hurt ('Blaze deserves it.' She would repeat to herself, a mantra against the sick-feeling building up in her stomach. 'H3 didn't help you. H3 deserves it.' ). What mattered is that she got her fucking revenge.

If she couldn't hit the enemy directly, she'd aim for his horse. And then watch, gleefully, as he lost his grip and was trampled on by his own steed.

What a painful way to go!

Perhaps, XD would suffer in a similar fashion? Yes, that would be ideal. Except, in his case, his mare would be named Pride.

The surface of her crafting table was stained with a mixture of sand and gunpowder by the time she had finished, The cave she had dug out filled with more TNT then she could count (As it should be, anyway. Anything less and it wouldn't have the same effect).

Rose stretched, wincing at the sounds of her bones cracking when she did. As soon as she got back to the overworld, back to her bunker, she was going to take a nice, long nap!

And hide.

Shit, yeah. Hiding from an angry god would be a really good idea.

Nap and hide then! Preferably at the same time, but beggars can't be choosers!

(Unless they were named after a flower and had a goddess wrapped around their finger, of course, giving them practically all the choices in the world. Then yeah. That statement still applies.)

"Cool! Glad that's sorted then!" She grinned. Oh this was going to be great! Absolutely wonderful!

Oh! If she hid in the holy land… wait. Were gods exempted from other god's rules? She never quite understood how that whole thing worked.

A nearby explosion (paired with the sound of angered squeals- maybe it would be best for her to take a different route back?) reminded her of the task at hand," Right! Thank you, random ghast!"

She spun slowly on her feet, her eyes glowing almost brighter than lava itself," Oh, this is going to be great!" At this point of time, it was a statement of fact. Not fiction. Fact!

But if this was to go perfectly, she needed to calm the fuck down. A shaky hand could ruin everything in the blink of an eye.

Right. Calm. She could do calm.

Closing her eyes, Rose took some deep breaths, feeling herself relax immediately. Cool! Good! Huzzah! Or, or whatever.

She pulled the satchel towards her front once more and blindly searched it for the most important item at-

Her hands met the smooth surface of steel and her grin widened, practically splitting her face in half.

Now where the fuck was the flint hiding?

It took a couple more seconds to locate the sedimentary rock, but once she did, had it not been for how serious the situation was, she would have cheered.

Rose handled the items with utmost care, letting them rest in her palms as one would to.. perhaps a friend? They were familiar, something that grounded her in such a high-stakes moment.

Everything she'd done so far came to this. Kind of. Well, not really. To be honest, she hasn't expected XD to get so mad over having a little bit of fun. It was just playful banter. Gods! He was such a debbie-downer.

She felt around her pockets for a bottle, sighing in relief when she saw the potion sat at the bottom of her bag (Ask no questions and you shall receive no lies). That could come in handy later. Just In case things do go to shit.

Anyway, she was getting distracted.

Crouching next to the nearest explosive, Rose raised the flint and steel just above it, prepared to just ignite the piece of TNT and run when--

Stop.

Oh gods, what if she hadn't thought this through? What if it didn't work? Oh Fuck. What was she doing? What was she fucking doing? This was a mess. A fucking mess. It wasn't going to end well. It's not going to end well. Not for her. Not for her at all!

Why the fuck did she think this was a good idea? She needs to go.

Leave.

Quick! Before he found her. Before it was worse , she didn't want it to be worse! The pain would be bad. Very bad! She needed to go!

Bile rose in her throat as she suppressed a sob. She needed to leave! Now! Go, go back to the overworld an-and go!

The trip back was a haze, panic gripping onto her senses and refusing to let go. Her eyes flickering around as the urge to go! Increased by a tenfold.

It was, for the most part, uneventful (besides a few near-mishaps with a few mobs, none of which were able to catch up with her). Though, had she been able to pay more attention, she would have registered the trail of booms! left behind her.

MLQC headcanon-Meeting their daughter’s boyfriend

Oh look. More random headcanon crap XD

Victor

Victor’s daughter’s boyfriend will have to go through an intense background check and screening process

And that is before ultimately meeting Victor in person.

MC will have to constantly remind Victor to not use that stare.

The one where he uses when trying to coerce a business partner into doing what he wants.

Will ask many questions about the boyfriend’s plans for the future and whatnot.

AKA typical overprotective dad looking out for their daughter, but “with power and connections” edition.

But ultimately, unless Victor has a glaring objection to the man or his behavior, he’ll trust his daughter to make a good choice.

“Dad, you taught me two things. How to read people, and that time is money. I won’t bring over anyone who I don’t think is worth my precious time.”

Yes, he raised her well.

She’s careful with who she gives her heart to. Which ultimately happens to be a male version of MC.

Victor pretends to lament over where he went wrong when, in reality, he thinks his daughter chose well.

Lucien

Lucien has two daughters, and the younger one will 100% observe what her father does to the older sister’s boyfriend and catalogue it for future reference.

Lucien won’t do the whole background check thing.

He’ll just treat any boyfriend brought over like a subject in his experiments. After all, he loves people watching.

And if he doesn’t hear about them again after that first dinner? “What happened to that nice boy you brought over for dinner last week, sweetie?”

“He got squeamish over being observed. He’s a handsome specimen but weak-willed.”

“That’s my girl.”

To both girls, dating is a highly controlled human experiment.

Really, only the strong-willed stick around.

“That was our goal from the beginning. It worked quite efficiently, if we say so ourselves.”

Lucien finds the men his daughters ultimately chose quite intriguing.

Kiro

Out of all the boys, Kiro should be the most worried about his daughter.

She’s definitely a “follow your heart over your head” sort of person.

And sometimes an “act before you think” person.

So Kiro has to be on guard for any boys she talks to (which is a lot of pretty/rich boys since she ends up a singer/actor in her teens like her daddy.)

However, after getting her heart broken the first time…“You want me to hack his accounts and end him?”

Kiro, dang it, you are the parent. Set a good example!

“It’s okay, dad. I’ll do it.”

“I taught you so well.”

After hacking the accounts of five separate guys (she only ruined the career of one! He deserved it. The others, she just caused general mischief), ends up befriending a programming nerd at a geek convention who constantly puts a smile on her face by sending her memes and virtual roses (and then roses made of candy when he can sneak onto set)

Eventually becomes a little more than just a friend.

Kiro gets along with him swimmingly and happily approves.

Gavin

Gavin is Mr. Overprotective.

He won’t force his daughter, but if she’s open, will teach her self-defense.

She’s a bit of a daddy’s girl, so she’ll do anything to spend time with her dad.

Her self-defense abilities are good, but what Gavin’s really proud of is har ability to handle a gun.

New rule: any boyfriend she brings over must watch her disassemble, reassemble, then shoot said gun.

Gavin figured this would scare any potential boyfriend a lot more than if he threatens them.

Only had one guy come over once before not hearing from him again.

“Oh, we broke up. I just don’t think any guy who nearly pisses his pants watching me handle a gun is worth it.”

So. Dang. PROUD.

Eventually, she finds a police officer (like her)

Gavin happened to personally train him, so he knows enough about him to approve.

This is a similar post here. Not exactly, but maybe a little context?

Milo doesn’t really “forbid” anything in his home, but he definitely tries to keep junk food out as much as possible. His brother has to follow that rule, too. Milo lives separately from his family, so his brother doesn’t live with him

Milo’s brother’s household forbids tech and video games, sort of. They allow it to an extent, but they don’t want a gaming system in their house, really. They think it’s a waste of time. Milo’s bro is a little sad, but he follows that rule. He plays games at his friends’ houses.

Nessa doesn’t really forbid anything. She lives alone and just does what she wants. As a personal rule, though, she tries her best to keep chips and cookies out. She has a bad habit of eating an entire pack in one sitting.

Kabu keeps things he thinks are a “scam” out of his house. Energy drinks? No. “Sports Drinks” like Gatorade? Nope. He thinks they’re a waste and he’s not going to spend his time and money on something that will do nothing.

Bea keeps snacks and junk food out of her house. It’ll waste all her training. She asks that Allister follow that rule, too.

She’s a little lenient with Allister, though. He’s allowed some snack foods, but not many. Still, he sneaks some in. Bea might know about some of it. She allows it.

Opal doesn’t ban anything. She’s cool with whatever. Who cares? She’s old, she does what she wants.

Bede is allowed pretty much what he wants. As long as he works hard and isn’t distracted from training, it’s fine.

Gordie doesn’t really ban anything. He has a sort of “no rules policy” at his place because there were so many rules when he lived with his mom. He does not want, however, any sort of ice type stuff. It makes him nervous. He’s lenient with it, but he doesn’t want too much of it around.

Melony, as well as her kids (other than Gordie since he moved out), follow an “alcohol ban” and things like that. They’re not able to drink at all at home. Melony’s daughter will be able to when she’s older, and when she’s tempted to sneak around and try it, Marnie and Piers let her have just a little at their place. Remind her it’s really nothing to get worked out about.

Piers doesn’t really ban anything. He wants Marnie to not be too sheltered so she’s ready for the real world. He doesn’t want her to go haywire, of course, but a little bit very few times isn’t going to kill her and will remove the “thrill” of doing it.

Marnie personally tries to keep their place quiet and private. She doesn’t have friends over all the time like she could. She also doesn’t like big groups of friends. She knows Piers secretly appreciates it.

Raihan lives alone and makes sure his place is clean when he streams or has visitors. So he really doesn’t need to ban anything. He restricts junk food, though.

Well, Rose wants Leon to ban junk food in his house (and anything that might distract him from training), but that only led Leon to hide it. He tries to keep it down personally, though.

Hop is allowed whatever he wants at Leon’s place. Nothing wrong with letting Hop have a nice time while visiting. At home, he doesn’t really have any bans. Alcohol and drugs and the like, really. He’s not that interested in trying those anyway. Marnie once told him it’s not that big a deal, so he took her word for it.

Ah man, no. I just like to hear your ideas. Not musing. XD

Well, perhaps not something to muse on on your part, but it can be on mine. *grins*

I don’t think Randy would tell them any time soon. He’s not the sort of person to throw something like that out there and ruin a good mood. Sometimes, he’d genuinely forget about it, just because he’s having so much fun.

But then his final year would approach, and suddenly the end of all of this would feel like it’s looming. He’d know he has to say something, but he’s not sure how, or when.

There are mere months left by the time the others notice that Randy hasn’t shaken this mood and confront him about it. Something must be up, despite discretely checking with Howard and confirming that nothing major has changed for Randy at either school or home. And these guys are his friends, so Randy doesn’t want to lie; he’s spent too much of these past few years lying to people, just to keep his secret about being the Ninja, and this is one they’d find out soon enough, anyway.

Besides. He has to tell them. They need to know that one day soon he won’t be there for them.

Neither Danny nor Jake are strangers to the ideas of a mind wipe. They’ve both seen it done. They know the consequences. Danny used it to his advantage, keeping his secret and having more time to figure out a better way to tell his parents--and the other people he chooses to tell, as opposed to just being exposed. But Jake? This was how Jake lost Rose.

Jake knows exactly what it’s like to look an old friend in the face and have them not know you at all. Not remember any of the things you’ve done together. Because it’s somehow deemed better for them not to know all that, to remember living an edited version of the truth instead and carrying on as if it’s always been that way--since, as far as they know, it has been.

Rose had to forget everything for her own safety, too. And for theirs, in case retaining her memories came at a cost. (Rewriting time and reality is tricky business, and they’ve all dabbled far too much in that.)

But Jake never gave up on her, and that paid off. She remembered, and the world didn’t end. She helped them prevent something really bad, and the Huntsclan didn’t return. Things got a lot better for both of them.

Really, can he be blamed for not believing that Randy--and everyone else--will be better if Randy just forgets everything?

He’s the one to make the rash promise that he won’t let that happen, that he won’t let Randy be mind-wiped and have everything lost. And then he heads home, because he needs to talk to Fu and Gramps and their contacts in the magical community, because there has to be something that can be done. Trixie and Spud avoiding being mind-wiped, and no one went back and demanded Jake do that to them even after it became painfully clear that they still knew everything, and no one’s questioned Rose’s knowledge, either. And if the dragons are okay with this, some old book should be.

Maybe Fu knows of a loophole, too. He’s good with those. Would just making Randy not be able to talk about being the Ninja outside of the presence of certain people be enough?

After Jake’s gone, Danny clears his throat rather awkwardly. “I’m sorry,” he says, because he doesn’t know what else to say. He knows better than to wish things were different when he doesn’t have Desiree in a thermos.

And he knows that sometimes, you have to let people go.

He’s sure Dani will turn up some day, but he doesn’t know when. She hasn’t written or called or emailed or sent letters via Cujo or anything. But he also knows that telling too many people about her, about who and frankly what she really is, will just make things so much harder. She’s better off if people don’t know. If they just think she’s his cousin.

And with Randy, well.... Danny isn’t happy about this, but he doesn’t know how to change it. Even if he went into the Nomicon, what would arguing for Randy’s sake do? Would First Ninja even listen to him? The idea of compiling the knowledge of the previous Ninjas makes sense, and it’s helped Randy. He’s used that resource. If he has to move on, it kinda is selfish to refuse to give back and add to that resource. And it might be dangerous, if Randy knows something that could prevent a future Ninja from making a deadly mistake.

Danny’s not great at arguing logistics or anything like that. He relies on Jazz and Sam and, to a lesser extent, Tucker. And he knows Randy’s situation is different from his and Jake’s--not just in how he got his powers but in what he protects. Jake is supposed to protect all of the United States, and feasibly, any magical creature within them can call on him for aid. Danny’s taken on the role of protector of Amity Park, but most of the ghosts don’t bother him nearly as much as he used to, and his parents will still be there even if he and Valerie move on. He’s not tied there.

But the Ninja is meant to protect Norrisville. Technically, he’s meant to protect Norrisville alone. But isn’t that only because the Sorcerer used to be trapped there? With him gone, doesn’t that mean the rules have changed? Doesn’t it mean the rules could be changed?

It’s a hope that Danny clings to, but he doesn’t want to say anything yet. He doesn’t want to promise Randy that he can fix this if he can’t. He needs to look into this. If no one else, Clockwork will know. He might not tell, but he’d know, and Danny can get enough of an answer in the way that Clockwork dodges his question--or if he even decides to be around to allow Danny to ask it. (For all that he claims that he can’t interfere, he’s painfully transparent, and Danny suspects that’s deliberate. A way to get around the Observants who try to constrain Clockwork when he’s not meant to be constrained.)

“We’ll figure something out,” Danny says instead, not even sure what Randy had mumbled before. That’s the safest answer he has to all this at the moment. They might not be able to figure out a solution. They might not be able to stop this. But they can try, and they can make plans to reintroduce themselves to Randy if they have to. Or try to make him remember--photographic evidence and video and all that--or just rebuild their friendship from scratch if they have to. It’s worth trying, even if it doesn’t work.

Besides, being the Ninja isn’t Randy’s entire identity. He’ll still have the heart of a hero even without the mask, If it has to be an end, that doesn’t mean it can’t also be a new beginning.

📌 🎥 🎶💢🍀💕 Almost the same questions as in your ask for me :D for the three Fallen London games, and Mask of the Rose if you want to! (To answer the question from your ask in short, I am very excited about it - what are you thinking of it so far?)

Initial Introduction: Nicktosaurus (on tumblr) started ranting about Fallen London way back when we first met. I think I disregarded the first few times? And then I saw Sunless Seas and Skies had a sale going on Steam, so I bought them, and started playing Seas. xD Understood fucking NOTHING because I didn’t play FL first, but I loved the atmosphere so much I just kept learning. In way too deep at this point.

Favorite Scenes: I absolutely adore the imagery when completing the cavern in Godfall, and I loved the imagery from Varchas’ storylines. I really don’t play a lot in the South of the Neath and I should. Completing all of Varchas’ storylines is on my list of things to do the next go-around. I love a lot of the imagery from the Zubmariner ports too, even though they’re also more terrifying than the surface ports? Finishing that stupid cigar plot turned my stomach lol.

Favorite songs: I have a pavlovial response to Wolfstack Lights, haha. My favorite in general is when going to Port Carnelian, then maybe Sunless Skies’ intro music. That’s another pavlovial response because we play it as background music for DnD and now anything that sounds remotely like it sends me into Westlie-mode.

Raar, Anger: I CAN ONLY HAVE LIKE TWO GUNS? Drives me up the fucking wall every time I start over before I get the Cladery Heart, omg. I think everyone would just tell me to play Skies, but I love the challenge of Seas, even though GOD I just want more guns are you fucking with me. I also wish infiltrating spies and getting knowledge to sway those storylines was easier early game. I think I need to wait until I have a few more legacies under my belt. I’ve spent a lot of time on the game and I’ve only finished the Father legacy, lol.

Comfort Char: This varies. x’D For Skies/FL/Seas, the Captivating Princess. For Seas, the Pirate Poet and Deviless from Mt. Palmerston, lmao. For Skyfarer, obviously Westlie.

I really just wish I knew more about the Deviless from Palmerston, lmao. I keep trying to sneak in, but my Veils aren’t high enough. And her storyline ends so abruptly! I wish Seas were a bit more like Fallen London where you could interact with the characters who just disappear.

Oh! And there’s that one storyline where the woman from the tomb colonies wants you to help her find her disappeared lover and eventually she sinks under the sea and never returns. I REALLY wish I knew what happened to her. Which... maybe that’s a zubmariner thing! I don’t think I’ve played long enough with the Zub to grab that.

I’m an absolute sucker for the characters who just disappear lmfao. I guess that’s the moral of that story. I want to know how they’re doing. There was that one kid in Varchas who starts the whole revolution too. He was dope.

Favorite Character: Impossible to pick. xD Maybe the Pirate Poet. I’d REALLY like to see more of her somehow. I want to know more about her background, about the clay men - you fucking have a brief trist with her! and engrave poetry - and then you never really see her again, except to save her. At one point, end game, maybe I’ll let her drown and see what happens then - but ahhh, it would be really cool just to be friends, or have some sort of Fallen-London-esque social interaction beyond what we see in game.

I really wish I’d played more of Zubmariner before this because a lot of the characters underneath seem amazing but I haven’t finished their storylines and I don’t know them well enough. ;~;

Misc note because I just remembered this and it fucked me over: The fucking tomb colonist curator who goes and dies after you give him the colors and he turns into that stupid moth. I took the moth because I wanted to see the stats and holy shit I should have taken the money. Now I might not get Aestival because I baaarely have enough change saved up to buy the shitload of supplies it requires, AND I need to get the judgement’s egg to save the Presbyterate Adventuress so she can rule the colony because I did the Doctor’s storyline this time, for some stupid reason and now he won’t talk to me unless I fix him up in London.

I really fucked up this round, lmfao. And this is why I haven’t played Seas in 6 months, because I’m still trying to figure out the best way to get out of this one.

Second Misc Note: I’m fucking convinced that one of the writers on the team is a geologist or mineral nerd. I know because they keep using geology-specific terms like schorl when anyone else would just say onyx and move on with their life. They also have a love affair with basalt and serpentine. I cannot prove this other than straight up asking them, but it HAS TO BE a thing. Nobody in their right mind who doesn’t have mineral knowledge is going to compare the color black to a tourmaline and call it schorl, not black tourmaline- who also knows the difference in the first place. I just- mmm. Their word choices fascinate me.

Despite her powers of farsight, despite the seemingly insurmountable strength of the Crystal Gems’ common enemy, it is a sound fact of the universe that certain elements of the future will always be vulnerable to change.

Certain elements. This is the nuance most other Gems can’t seem to grasp without experiencing some form of prophecy for themselves, that there exists a delicate boundary between elements in flux and foregone consequences. Laying just beyond every unique junction of free will and possibility is a tipping point where that precise junction can never be revisited, can shift no longer. After all, when a heavy stone begins to fall from a cliff side there is no force of nature that can hope to reverse it. It will fall, and the world at large will be forever transformed, no matter how small the ramifications.

For this reason, Garnet finds navigating the rivers of possibility less of a disorientating force while surrounded by nature. From her observations over the past few years, much of the life of this planet seems to be driven by base instinct. Plants seek water, sunlight, the sentient organisms seek food and shelter. Choices are made, and consequences stick. While she’s stumbled upon the occasional exception to this rule, the wildlife of planet Earth largely adheres to predictable outcomes. She could trace every last potential path within the lifespan of a butterfly and be reasonably certain its ultimate future would follow one of those she foresaw.

Gems, on the other hand... Gems are complicated. Sapphire didn’t think they were, once. She used to believe futures were set in stone, that only the will of fate pushed individuals together and tore empires apart. When she still read the future for the Diamonds, all she could see was a single stream. But when Garnet considers Gems now, she’s met with an infinity of tributaries, offshoots, turns, and waterfalls, each careening down paths unique from all others. She can sense realities beyond realities. All are possible. And all are vulnerable to changes even she cannot foresee. Rubies can break protocol to push their charges out of danger. Pearls can win victory over quartz soldiers on the battlefield. Rose Quartzes can bravely rise to lead an entire rebellion.

So many segments of the future are in constant flux, and on many occasions that can prove overwhelming.

But sometimes, the path is simple.

Sometimes, that simplicity can remind one of what they’re fighting for.

The bird egg she’s currently watching with intrigue, for instance. The mother is away— most likely retrieving food. The thin shell is speckled brown, a completely unique pattern compared with the other two sharing the nest. She smiles as she gently removes the egg out of the nest, cradles it in her hands nestled between her gems. A few steps away, Rose sits down on a fallen tree, her untamable curls shifting around her face as she allows her head to sink into her hands.

“I know you said leaving base might help me think, but I can’t fathom how a nature walk is supposed to improve morale at a time like this,” she says, muffled through her fingers. As she looks up, shards of anger shoot through her dark eyes, the fringe of her hair casting a shadow over her features as she continues to expound her frustrations. “Over five hundred of us, mercilessly shattered on the battlefield, and it’s all my fault. I gave the orders, I sent them to ground the landers in facet 4! They’re gone because of me.”

She sighs, heavy and despondent, her eyelids fluttering shut.

“There’s days I genuinely wonder why I’m even fighting anymore.”

Garnet’s gaze flickers downwards, towards the life she holds between the sum of her very being. (Its warmth is comforting, in a grounding sort of manner.) There’s definitely been cycles— dark, daunting excursions into terrifying possibility— where she emerged with the same doubt. She knows it can’t be easy, leading so many frightened, angry Gems in revolution against such a daunting power while carrying the expectation of constant poise, strength, and grace. What she also knows is that her friend shouldn’t let that expectation weigh her down so heavily that she feels unable to express vulnerability around the others, to take care of her own needs. And in this moment, when she peers into Rose’s future, there are so many paths where she collapses under this strain. Where she eventually buckles to the Diamonds’ will, where the rebellion is crippled at its knees. None of these paths are certain yet— the present is still in flux, decisions still lie at their junctions— but in number, they are many.

(There’s still time, though. There’s still a chance for change.)

Garnet joins her on the mossy trunk, still cradling the spotted bird egg. “Rose, I’m going to tell you something I’ve never told anyone else before.”

While still visibly sullen, the quartz lifts her chin to listen with intent.

“Sometimes,” she begins, peering amongst the tree canopy to admire all the wildlife flying and scampering throughout the boughs, “when I’m using my future vision in private, I become so overwrought with inner instability over what I see that I almost fall apart. When that happens, I find myself turning towards Earth. I immerse myself in nature, in all the life of this world I’ve sworn to protect.” A serene smile crossing her lips, she lets the ambiance of her surroundings wash over her, briefly quieting that instinctual drive to continuously peer into the future. “It’s calming. I hoped it might be calming to you, too.”

Rose bites at her bottom lip, her fists grinding into the thick layers of her dress as she considers. “I suppose... I can give it a try?”

The egg in her hand vibrates, a small, yet irrevocably important thread of the future just beginning to slot into place. Suddenly catching wind of an opportunity to nudge her friend towards a happier dawn on her journey through leadership, Garnet offers the still-intact shell to her.

“Here. You’ll like this.”

Confusion flooding her face, Rose extends her hands to accept the gift. The moment her fingers wrap around the egg, however, her face glows in wonder. The chick inside begins to peck at the thin shell, cracks spiderwebbing from the center as it emerges.

By the time the bird has finally shed its old home, the look of pure awe on that Gem’s face is all Garnet needs to be certain that— no matter what else transpires— the future they create together won’t be one where they allow this breathtaking planet to die.

Notes:

A note on the portrayal of Garnet's future vision... I imagine she is still young, and that this takes place around the first half of the war, long belong Rose fake shatters herself. With this in mind, she hasn't lived amongst the creatures of Earth long enough to fully grow to appreciate just how complex life is for them as well. I think there's a point to be made in that conscious, self-aware creatures have a far greater capacity for both more potential choices and unexpected choices, (in comparison to, say... plants), but I also think she underestimates the animals of this world. She probably still underestimates humans, too.

As the years move on, I believe her understanding of her own future vision will evolve to account for this added complexity- just as her realization of Steven's emotional growth opened her vision up to a world of new possibilities.

-dropkicks into your inbox- speaking of wedding asks, what kinds of rings/other such used-for-proposals-items would the ladies be inclined to get for their s/o? 👀 something subtle? flashy? something they know without a doubt their s/o will love? (or, on the flipside: what kind of rings would /they/ prefer to recieve?)

Ohhh man I’m always a sucker for this kind of thing-!! Okay so, for sure, all the girls would absolutely do a ring for their s/o if that’s the sort of thing they really wanted/expected; and in general, most of them would be pretty tuned into their s/o’s taste, too - so they wouldn’t be getting something ostentatious if that’s not what their s/o wanted.

However if their s/o is open to the girl’s own instinctive desires for proposals-items by their own traditions, then that’s absolutely what the girls would go for first! (It’d later be supplemented by a ring/they’d choose a perfect matching pair of rings for the wedding bands~)

As for what they’d like in return, pretty much anything you give them will be universally adored. None of them are the ostentatious type, though - and for that matter, as monsters, they have no particular value for diamonds (and actually, literally none of them prefer them) - heck, it doesn’t matter if they’re super cheap, crystals/gems associated with soul traits have much more impact!

The rest below a cut because I’m too thorough XD

For the UT girls Serif and Vellum, their world traditionally doesn’t have a specific item; rather, they bare their souls to one another when proposing (it’s rather private, of course) - but in more recent times because of the joy and fun, they’ve picked up a newer tradition of handcrafting an item that would mean a lot to their s/o in some way to propose with - this is particularly good for those (coughVellumcough) who would love a proposal with a bit of showmanship! Rest assured the soul baring comes later that night.

But for the initial happenstance, Serif will likely be making a pendant for a necklace for hers; it’s not just any pendant, though. Shaped slightly like a save star, it’s actually a tiny, intricately made magical projection unit, as well as having a central crystal from the glowing crystal cavern. When activated, it projects a hologram like nebula and view of countless stars - at the center of which is one that Serif ‘bought’ a name to, for you. It’s got a lot of features too, but the point is, it’s a beautiful star - just like you are to her in her own night sky.

Vellum, meanwhile, actually constructs a tiny, intricate puzzle box for her s/o. It’s actually absurdly intricate and utterly beautiful, and has many levels of being solved, each with a different small gift and tiny scroll of her writing effusing on yet another reason for her love - and each level gets progressively more difficult. Effectively, the entire thing symbolizes her love for her s/o; each way she’s fallen for them, each way she loves them bared only reveals deeper levels of her love, increasingly devoted and dedicated. She’s definitely gonna cry, shhh, make sure you have tissues handy if you suspect she might be proposing soon ;Dc

For the US girls Sapphire and Amber, their world ended up adopting a pretty strong tradition of proposing with a key! This is because the proposal-to-marriage window was effectively done by building a home together. In older days/Underground this was a bit easier, but nowadays it’s accepted that that could absolutely include getting an apartment together and taking a lot of time to decided upon furnishings/etc that you actively want. Highly skilled/motivated monsters will even learn how to locksmith, or go to a locksmith to have a highly unique one made; a small version of the key would then be wrought in fine metal and possibly embedded in crystal/laced with a glowing jewel/otherwise decorated; this, often strung on a necklace, would be presented to the partner to propose. If building their own house, the lock would be placed in the finished home as the final step and symbol of the partners starting a new life together.

Nowadays, even if the partners were already living together, this is still accomplished by either moving to a new place together or by changing the lock to make it ‘official’ that they were a married/mated couple. Sapphire is likely going to engrave the key copy, with the key itself being some beautiful silvery metal; there will be fine veins of glowing sapphire crystal in the key’s divots, and an accent of a crystal of your favor/soul trait’s color.

Meanwhile Amber is going to likely have a rose-gold tint to the key she gives you. It’ll have an artistic depiction of some important place to you both engraved on one side, and the head of it will be set into a glowing crystal.

For the UF girls Crimson and Scarlet, their world traditionally goes with collars! Of course, collars have many different forms and meanings. Utilitarian ones often made of leather (that are likened usually to dog collars) tend to be more signifiers of protection, but fancier ones that often take the form of some sort of beloved and sturdy jewelry can/do tend to signify romantic permanence/marriage! These can also be bracelets, but it’s more traditional/common to have something around the neck.

Crimson is actually going to hand make hers and imbue her magic into it; namely, it’ll end up being a finely made braided chain that’s nigh indestructable and catches the light subtly, and it’ll have a key on the end, with the head wrought of a glowing magic crystal. She’s going to be super flustered but secretly sappy about it, heh - especially as the matching one she made for herself, signifying she’s just as much yours as vice versa, will be a fine lock on a leather choker that your key goes to ;)c

Meanwhile, Scarlet will lean towards buying you a choker style necklace herself, but it’s going to be made by the finest monster craftsman she can find. The metal and inlaid jewels will be subtle but durable and extremely high quality; it’ll have a subtle pendant at it’s front, an upside down heart with the center comprising your primary trait in jewel form. It’s extremely tasteful yet unwaveringly romantic and exactingly, secretly extravagant. She has one that matches but is long instead of being a choker, and features a rightside up heart trimmed in red crystal.

For the SF girls Pepper and Cinnamon, they also have traditional collars, with similar rules to the Fell girls’ regarding different types meaning different things; in particular, though, there’s a big emphasis on handmade collars for a romantic partner. While the fell world had a ‘kill or be killed’ motto, their’s was ‘take or be taken’ - as such, it was of... significant cultural importance to show just how much something was yours - and even more so, if you declared that in turn, you were theirs, as was the case in a romantic partnership. With an Underground of an old-Norse sort of flavor, too, there are a lot of subtle visual influences there that will be brought in.

Pepper is going to, in secret, absolutely agonize over what to make you. Everything will be taken into account; from the obvious of your tastes to the thoughtful details of what your life is like/what would suit your lifestyle, to what materials might best bear magic, to the symbolism even in how chains might link together... in the end she’ll probably choose something of leather, braided and burned, a choker style necklace; where it connects to the pendant are nordic styled connecters but instead of beast heads gripping the pendant, it’s tiny versions of her gaster blaster skulls. The pendant itself is a blaster skull bearing a crystal in it’s mouth; despite the sound of it, it’s not ostentatious at all. The leather and fine metals chosen complement your skin tone and tastes, and the leather has subtle symbols worked into it and is extremely comfortable.

Meanwhile, Cinnamon will actually go for a longer necklace; something that, if you desired, you could tuck beneath a shirt to keep out of your way if you’re bending over to work/etc - and also had the option to shorten up. It has a subtle magical mechanism in the back that, for all intents and purposes, could effectively spool up the excess material. The loop itself is of warm, well-treated leather that won’t ever wear out, and has tiny symbols in an ancient runic language written on it. The pendant for hers is akin to a save star, but within it are two hearts, one inverted, and both overlapping.

For the HT girls Blade and Twist, their traditions were the same as Serif and Vellum’s, but since their world turned sour they shifted. Instead, monsters turned to magical tattoos to signify their bonds to one another; some of the most popular variety were, quite frankly, merely bite marks infused with the partner’s magic made, well, precisely the way you’d expect. It was possessive but dear as well, a strong symbol of your life being in their hands, trustingly. Such marks/tattoos are mirrored between partners; and made usually with the help of both partners magic combined.

For a human partner this would be trickier, but still doable... in private, heh. In proposing, up on the surface, they’d likely stick to providing a ring or a necklace with a raw magic crystal charm/center point, and propose their preferred type of mark. Admittedly, both girls are... the bite types, but if you’re opposed, they’d respect that because of human traditions, but it really would mean a lot to them if you got a tattoo, if not a bite mark, through their magic.

Both of them will lean towards some depiction of flowers/plants; Blade would likely in particular ask if you would like a poppy, while Twist might lean towards lavender or even fireweed. (and hey, if you’d like both a bite mark and the magical flower tattoos, well... they’re very willing to oblige, and holy hell, I hope you’re prepared for a very, very pleased and in-love skeleton woman to not be willing to let go of that proposal high for a loooong time yet, heheh).

For Glyph and Alpha, they’re obviously outliers in both tradition and desire; Glyph will likely only get married in a poly situation, in which case she’s actually going to propose more by bringing her partners out on a trip with her, and playing a song she wrote for them. She probably wouldn’t have a physical item, but would have ideas for a ring exchange for if they say yes. She’s a big sap and romantic deep down, but for her experiences are more important, and so her ‘item’ would be a song more than anything.

Alpha meanwhile doesn’t have a ‘home world’, so to speak - so she’d actually probably just adopt whatever your preference was. This would probably mean a ring, but stars above, you better bet she’d find a way to make it perfect on every level... and too, it would probably some major leap in her tech - in other words, her figuring out how to safely upload your consciousness into digital form (and having a perfected robot/android body option for you to still exist in physical form). A proposal from her would be both dazzling and romantic by starting with the ring, if you agreed, would turn deeply serious because then she’d share that she’d figured the digitization thing out.

She’d never force it, of course, but... well. She’s an undying digital entity, after all; she’d thought intensely about making such a move as to propose. If you’re with Alpha you’re already probably the type to consider such a step regardless at least in hypotheticals, but the reality’s all the more overwhelming. She wouldn’t expect an answer on that side right away, of course, but she’d make it clear all the same as the second half of her proposal (as you could consider her second proposal ‘item’ as being... all that, hoo boi!).

Oh lawdy! To quote Ace Ventura: “Aaaaaalrighty, then!” - Apologies for the janky post, since I can’t space them without the site making the numbers all screwy.

Do you have any “yeah I’m good at it but I hate it” kind of skills? - hmmmm. To be honest, leading. If you buy into horoscopes, I’m a Dragon. And maybe it’s natural, maybe it’s theatre experience. But when I apply myself as a leader, I do AMAZING. The issue is that I generally like to be a support. Sometimes I like leading, but usually I’m not into the idea of being this focus or figurehead guiding the way as the leader. Whether projects or even fun, I tend to fall into a like... intermediate leadership role at best.

If you could make one type of food cease to exist, what would you banish? - To be honest, I can’t do that. Even foods I’m not fond of are foods, and I would be remised if I were to remove any.

You’re allowed to know everything about one highly specific thing/topic. What would you choose? - Deep sea thermal based biology. The deep sea is my 100% very favorite place on Earth. If I die and there’s an afterlife, I want endless ocean of all kinds. If I’m reincarnated, I want to be a Dragonfish or something. At any rate, I would do anything to have such a wealth of knowledge. Especially about something as fascinating to me as the ins and out of how the deep sea creatures that survive and thrive around the *extreme* heat and pressure of the vents.

What’s a fictional character who you want to be like? In what way do you want to be like them? - I would love to be like Nathan Ford from Leverage. I want to be able to live my life as freely and wildly as he (though maybe not as illegally lol), and also pursue what I feel is right for me. Live through and persevere through hardship as well as he, even if he struggled.

If you had to live in and not leave a city for the rest of your life, what city would you choose? - That would be a VERY hard call between Avalon on Catalina Island USA, or Sedona, Arizona. While Sedona overall has more of what I love, Avalon has the sea. And I’d probably die without my ocean.

Do you tend to say what you’re thinking? What would people think of you if you did the opposite? - Usually, yes. But in a careful way. It WILL happen periodically, because I’m also an emotional hunk of waste. But in general I do a decent enough job of being honest without being harsh about it. When I’m provoked or something really gets to me, then I can just vent without thinking.

Is there anything that you’ve done/experienced so much you hate it now? Easiest to come up with are like, food or music. - Hmmm. Not really. Halloween got SEVERELY killed for me, though. I still like it, but Haunt people are by and large the most obnoxious and hypocritical. Since I adore haunt, I HAVE to deal with them. Hatred for Christmas and other holidays while spouting about Halloween has drained my interest in Halloween. So yes an no, because that’s really OTHER people killing it for me. But I’m also sort of involved because of my love of the haunt business.

Were you afraid of anything “silly”/irrational as a child that you’ve since outgrown? - Deep water. As a kid I HATED the deep end of pools. Now I’m obsessed with deep water and the dark, unknown, crushing depths. Funny how things work out! I used to hate going near the slope in a pool if it was even a little dark (lighted pools were fine). Now, the only thing stopping me from just continuing to swim down if I go diving is my tank limits.

If you were to impart one moral lesson (think Aesop’s fables, Golden Rule, etc) on the world, what would it be? - Treat others as you wish to be treated. It’s SO easy to say, and yet nobody does it.

If you were a DND character or a game character (or something like that) what would your highest stat be? What would you want your highest stat to be? What about the lowest, to both of those? - HA. I think about this way too much. I’d be a sea elf druid. STR 10 INT 12 CHA 16 DEX 12 END 18 WIS 18 - If I were to apply myself logically as an analog of myself, I’d have good durability and understanding and social capability (again, in specific regards), but my outward strength and dex would be kinda average. I like to think that I’m decently intelligent, as I LOVE books, learning, and figuring things out. But I’m also far from genius. Hence my focus on Wisdom. I’m also surprisingly dexterous, but in certain circumstances more than others, so that’s also pretty average. I don’t think I’ve really have any “bad” stats, but I’d definitely mix average with a couple high ones.

Is there anything you judge others for when you probably shouldn’t? - Probably. I have a huge mistake of expecting others to be courteous and offer a common decency/open perspective on things.

Who are “your kind” of people? - Goths and hippies, my friend. If you want to know my style? Goth Druid. lol

If you had to come up with your last words right now… what would they be? - “Don’t regret not accomplishing what you set out to accomplish. Regret having not tried. I do not regret trying, even if I did not succeed.”

Do you have any “weirdly strong” opinions about things that don’t really matter? - This is VERY obscure (I have others, but it’s late and this came to mind first) But if you play Fate Grand Order.... SET YOUR GOD DAMNED SUPPORTS.

Your goal is to completely confuse the people around you in as short a time as possible– what do you say/do? - Honestly, just start quoting Lorne from Season 5 of Angel. Or act like a Malkavian. One of my VTM characters was a Malkavian who got in a fight with a parachute he had. Her name was Kitten.

What’s the most comfy place you’ve been in? - I don’t know, actually. Maybe the Luxe Hotel in LA during Anime Expo?

Did you have any “silly” beliefs as a kid? Where did they come from (parents, friends, out of nowhere, etc)? - Not that I know of. At least in terms of anything that’d have changed or something. I’m sure there’s Something, but I honestly can’t dig anything up in my memories.

If you were to add or remove one physical feature to yourself… what would it be? Can be from animals, can be from imagination… whatever. - Hahaha, I ALWAYS think about this one. Right now, I’d want maybe the electro-vision of sharks.

What could you happily give a two hour lecture on? - Ocean conservation, and what’s correct and what isn’t.

What would a mirror opposite version of yourself be like? It doesn’t necessarily have to be an evil version– any feature can be reflected! - Someone who’s mostly optimistic. More bright colors than dark, short hair. Focused on socializing and extroverted. More than happy in one place forever, without an interest in travel.

What’s an occasion you’ve done a double take? - Anime Expo a number of times. Seeing weird or unexpected, or legendary cosplays.

If you could only see one color (and its varying shades– dark/light) for the rest of your life… what would you choose? - Blue. Guess that was probably obvious. But it’s a cool color and associated with calming. Between dark midnight and navy blues to vibrant aquamarines pressing towards green (without actually going into it), I feel like there’s a happy spectrum of all kinds that would be enough to get through without going too crazy.

Do your friends all share certain qualities? Major or minor! - Despite my.... unique personality, and preference towards quiet etc (INFJ), I have a lot of radically different kinds of friends. I honestly don’t think I could put any one thing down. Other than that I choose my friends carefully on who I think I can trust and is a good persona at heart. To a sufficient degree anyway. That’s also a huge part of my downsides, too. By being sensitive (and having certain conditions), when a friend does something that hurts me, it REALLY hurts.

How do you motivate yourself to do things? - Oh man, that’s funny. It is entirely circumstantial. As an artist/writer/creative (I use artist in the broad sense, but I figured I’d add that to help specify) I can VERY easily just have motivation on a moments notice. So it’s often pretty random. But if not, I jut need to think of why. I Looooooove gardening. Weeds need pulling? I think about what’ll happen if the roses or tomatos or lemon tree don’t get their water because of weeds sucking it up. Need to write? I’ll never leave my creation for *any*one if I don’t at least crack down on notes, and make slow and steady progress if nothing else. It’s usually just a small thing I think of to act as a spark, but it’s usually very effective.

What’s one of your favorite jokes? Tell it to us! - Okay, so this isn’t a joke, but it’s seriously STILL making me laugh just thinking about it. I was going to reference an old comedian in a previous post (I didn’t end up doing it, but still). Anyway, I was really confused as to why I couldn’t find him in google. It turns out, instead of looking up “Groucho Marx”, I was googling “Marco Grouch”. LOL That’s probably not quite as funny to y’all, but for some reason it’s killing me. XD
