10x21: Details
Okay, let’s talk details. And most of these will just back up what I’ve already said about these sequences being callbacks to Grady and leaving Beth behind, as well as foreshadows of finding her again.
***As always, spoilers abound below for 10x21. Don’t read until you’ve watched!***
Carol and Dog:
Of course Dog goes with Carol and I noticed that when she gets back to Alexandria, she says, “let’s get you home.” So, home theme, and it’s especially potent because Dog = Beth.
She says to Dog, “For the record, I didn’t need an apology for him.” It’s the ‘for the record’ part that caught my attention, not only because Beth mentioned records at Grady, but Negan said the exact same thing to Daryl about Carol several episodes ago. “For the record, I don’t think she’s coming back.” So, it’s something of a theme.
She tells Jerry the story of the Stone Soup, which to me parallels Rick’s “Rock in the Road” story, which we’ve always thought was about Beth. (X). And I’m not sure how exactly to interpret the rock in either story, but biblically Christ = the rock. So, there’s that.
We see her fixing the solar panels as well. Because of the sunlight angle, that could represent Beth. I’m actually seeing a lot of symbolism here for both Carol fixing Beth in some way and Beth fixing Carol. So, I think this has to do with the template for the future. I think the two of them will come together again, as they did at Grady, and they’ll both be kind of a mess at that point and need to help each other through some stuff. I’ll talk about it in more detail later when I do another forecasting post.
When Dog starts chasing the rat and Carol runs to see what’s happening, he knocks over a lamp. Lamp Theory. And the cord of the lamp has been gnawed on by the rat. So can you see how all these symbols kind of interlock?
When Dog chases the rat and knocks over the pot, Carol has a serious/Sirius mention. She says, “This is serious. We need that food.”
Now, for the record, I think food shortages are going to continue to be a thing, and Beth and the CRM will be the answer to needed resources, so both sides of that sentence are important.
She makes a trap to catch the rat, which I talked about yesterday. Then she goes out looking for more ingredients for the soup. While out there, we see a dragonfly, a blue butterfly, and a spider. All three of those are important symbols.
They all represent some form of transformation, wisdom, renewal, and fertility.
It’s probably important that Carol uses Leah’s knife to fix the solar panels. Again, just more Beth symbols on top of Beth symbols.
@frangipanilove also pointed out that it’s important that the instant she can’t see the rat anymore, the power goes out. See how that works? Rat (Beth) is unseen and suddenly no sun power.
Carol also says at this part, “there will be more sun tomorrow, right?” That’s super important. Sun = Beth. And ever since AOW, I’ve thought the “tomorrow” theme pointed to the CRM war. So again, just more evidence that this is both a callback and a foreshadow of what will happen with Beth and CRM.
As I said yesterday, Dog watching over Carol as she sleeps = Beth watching over Carol while she’s unconscious at Grady. She also says to Dog, “You miss him, don’t you?” Which is exactly what Beth asked Daryl about Merle in Still.
And then of course she destroys the wall. The next day, Jerry comes to see her, and we get lots of interesting references. There’s the poker, poker face reference. He says, “caring…yeah that’s a problem,” which we’re connecting to Beth’s famous line, “when you care about people, hurt is just part of the package.”
Jerry also says, “2+2=Eureka.” Now, Eureka is an expression which means “a cry of joy or satisfaction when one finds or discovers something.” We’re hoping the 2+2 is a reference to episode 22, and the discovery is that Beth is alive. *fingers crossed*
The song that plays, No Worries by Amateur Blond, has references to dogs in it. And it keeps saying “Oh, oh, oh.”
Of course Daryl returns, Rat gets free, and I especially love how Dog runs to Daryl. Cuz, you know, Dog = Beth. :D
One other thing @frangipanilove brought to my attention. The scarf Carol has in this episode can be linked to the scarf she wore in S3. They actually look very similar. Remember that at the prison, when T-Dog died and Lori gave birth to Judith, Carol was wearing a scarf over her head. Daryl found it with blood on it, which led him to assume she was dead. They even created a grave for her. But of course he found her (after finding her knife, btw) soon after and she lived.
It’s just a little too coincidental that this can be connected to a death fake out in season 3, and there’s a major knife exchange going on in the same episode.
Daryl and Bike:
Okay, so I talked a lot about Daryl yesterday and how Bike = Beth. The part where he gets under the car is really interesting. I’m not entirely satisfied with how to interpret it yet, but I do think it represents leaving Beth behind and stuff that happened during the missing 17 days.
You could call Daryl’s behavior here destructive. I mean, he crawled under a precariously perched car. And that could represent his depression, to the point of self-harm, after losing Beth. He does find the part he needs in the 3rd car (rule of threes). And that car was somewhat hidden at first.
He didn’t see it until he’d already reached and checked the first two cars. So, that could represent looking for Beth’s body but there’s an unseen element he isn’t aware of at first. It also parallels the “third man” theory. (X).
When he gets back to the bike, he suddenly realizes he gave the knife to Carol and he needs it. His huge, Rambo knife is just too big to get it into the crevices of the bike to attach the new part.
I think this is important for the future story line as well. After the spinoff starts, when he and Carol part ways, he’ll give her something and realize he needs it later on. It’s when he goes looking for this part that he’ll run into the CRM and Beth.
I also noticed kind of a cute little parallel here. When he realizes he doesn’t have the knife and he needs it, he sort of does this thing where he brushes his hair out of his face. He did a similar thing in Consumed.
I just remember a lot of people commenting on how adorable it was. So I thought I’d point it out here as well.
So then he goes looking of Beth, er, I mean a new knife. I talked about a lot of this yesterday: the Beth walker, his limp, the dry river bed, etc. It’s important that he finds the knife with military walkers (probably the CRM). I can’t help but wonder if letting walker fall into the ravine represents him letting one of their communities get overrun with walkers or something.
I also REALLY want to connect it to when the group did this in Them. In that scene, Rick was almost bitten. Daryl came running up at the last minute and helped him, but I think it’s significant that they were doing the exact same thing there that we see Daryl doing here. I’m thinking it represents something about maybe him finding Rick with the CRM and helping him in some way, or something. Again, just speculating about future storylines here.
But he finds the knife he needs and goes back to the bike. And two more military walkers come at him. Yes, two. You may have missed that, as I and my fellow theorists both did the first time. But one is coming at him from ahead of the bike, down the tracks.
The other is coming at him from his right side. You can tell because he turns his head to look at it.
Couple of things here. Part of the reason it only seems like one is that they show it weird. We only see him killing the one straight ahead, not the one to the side. I’m sure there’s some symbolism in that, but I honestly have no idea what it is.
But here’s an interesting thing. He finds a second knife on that second walker. It doesn’t do a close up on the second knife, so it’s easy to miss. But there are actually 2 knives.
Not entirely sure how to interpret that, but remember that in Still, there were two knives. First, Daryl gave Beth his, but between rooms in the golf club, she found her bone-handled one that she always carried after that, and gave his back to him. So it might just represent Beth and Daryl and their 2 knives.
He also finds military rations (food) on one of them. As I said yesterday, I think TF is going to get to the point where they desperately need resources. Where food is scarce and even water becomes undrinkable. It will be part of the CRM plot. So I think him finding food on military walkers hints at that. They will need the CRM’s resources to survive.
The other thing I’m curious about is what he says. He says, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” To me, that’s a weird reaction. There are walkers all over the place in these woods. And neither of these two are a massive, immediate threat to him. So his reaction doesn’t make tons of sense. But again, I’m sure it has something to do with a future storyline that simply isn’t clear here yet.
Also, the walker he takes the knife from is missing his leg/foot. That’s part of the missing foot/shoe symbolism, and just proves in my mind that this is symbolic of something to do with Beth.
He then sets to fixing his bike. But it takes a while and it’s dark before he finishes. This was super cool and something I missed the first time through. While fixing it, he hears a wolf howl. And they draw attention to it by having Daryl turn his head toward it, as thought acknowledging it.
Plus, the captions say it’s a wolf, not a dog or a coyote. So, this is wolf symbolism. And I think what they’re trying to say her is that when Daryl finds and “fixes” Beth, the wolf symbolism will be in play. I’ll talk more about what the means and how it MIGHT manifest in coming days.
Finally, he gets the bike fixed and started and heads back.
@wdway, as usual with her eagle eyes, noticed something about this shot. In the sky above him, we see three stars. They look suspiciously like the “spoon” portion of the Little Dipper. And guys, at this distant, stars wouldn’t even register on camera, which means they were put in purposely with a computer. Daryl is riding toward the spoon/star/Sirius symbol. Just saying.
The only other thing I noticed (other than all the stuff I talked about yesterday, anyway) is that there is some missing time here. Daryl fixes his bike at night and we see him drive off into the darkness, but by the time he gets back and talks to Carol, it’s late afternoon or early evening, and he’s talking about going to bed. I don’t know if he could have gone out far enough for it to take him that long to get back. Of course, maybe he just looked some more the next day and didn’t come back right away. Maybe I’m reading too much into it. But it’s something I noticed.
So, yeah. I think that’s all the details I have. Anyone notice anything I missed?

NSFW Alphabet Headcanons: Hori Masayuki
As the winner of the simp poll the first totally nsfw post on this blog goes to short king himself Hori. If y’all want this for the rest of the characters let me know Original template by @fairy-tail-babes ALL CHARACTERS ARE 18+ IN THESE SITUATIONS
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
You can’t convince me Hori ISN’T the king of aftercare. Need water? He’ll get it. Food? Sure hang on. Just wanna chill? He’s down
B = Body part (Their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
I mean we know he’s a legs guy and that probably means he’s more of an ass man too but definitely legs are his thing
On himself he likes his hands. He may not be tall but he’s good with his hands I’m sorry I had to
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
I mean man runs on like, red bull and spite so he’s not gonna taste great I’m gonna be real here but it’s not super watery or messy so it’s okay
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Everyone thinks he wouldn’t want his partner to wear shoes that make them taller bc he’s already pretty short but like he’s got a thing for heels. Gender doesn't matter he likes his partners in heels...and just heels
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
By college I think people have TRIED to get with him but I’m gonna be real mans has no firsthand experience he’s a romantic at heart
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
Hori likes to be on top. If he isn’t on top he’s still in control so any position that allows him control he’s happy
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
I mean Hori’s capable of having fun and goofing off so I don't think he’s completely stoic and serious he’ll smile and joke occasionally but mostly he's in the moment not trying to make jokes
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
He really can’t be assed to actively groom it but he’ll clean it up if it’s getting too wild
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
I think it depends on how he’s feeling that day. Sometimes he’s very sweet and romantic and sometimes he just needs to let off some steam you know?
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
The man has no time to himself he doesn’t really have the time to enjoy himself alone. When he does though it’s 100% in the shower where he can relax.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
...can we all agree that Hori is the kinkiest of all the squad?
Hori is a dom. Not an intense one but he likes to be in control you know? Lowkey bc of the height thing but mostly just his personality
He’s also into hair pulling idk why I just know he is
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
Storage closet next question
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Legs
He’s also a sucker for big shiny/pretty eyes
His partner deadass just has to ask he’s not like constantly horny but he’s down to go pretty much any time he can turn it on and off almost at will
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He’s not gonna be mean to his partner
He knows its a kink and some people enjoy it but he’s really just not gonna insult his partner or hurt them he’s like “the point is to feel good why do you want to be in pain”
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
Hori’s better with his hands but he can gets the job done regarding oral and will do so if his partner asks
100% prefers receiving he’s that asshole that puts his hands behind his head and relaxes
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
As much as Hori is kind of a tease/a little shit regarding sex he’ll usually go slow but with hard thrusts
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Exception to the above is quickies which he loves
He’s that guy who will pull his partner into a closet or something, hook up, then leave the closet looking completely put together while his partner looks like a tornado hit them
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
He likes stuff that feels like a risk but really isn't TOO much
Like he’s not gonna bang on a public train but he’ll give his partner oral in a bathroom stall you know?
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
Man has pretty okay stamina he’ll go for a couple rounds but they’re LONG rounds
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
He doesn’t personally own any but if his partner hands him one to use he is 100% down
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Lmao so much Hori is a massive tease it’s the power trip he loves it
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
He isn't super loud mostly just heavy breathing but his moans are probably really nice to listen to when he does get close to finishing
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
When Hori get’s drunk and he’s single he WILL hit on everything and everyone and then leave to go home alone bc he likes flirting but doesn’t actually wanna hook up with a stranger and it is HILARIOUS to watch
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
Not that long but thicc™ and he knows how to use it
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
I like to think he’s constantly at 50/50. Like he could go either way unless it’s really been a while. if his partner wants to fuck he’s cool. If they don't that's also cool he’s got other shit to do
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Not that tired unless it’s been an intense round but he usually just needs a breather than he’s down to do other stuff

(Art’s by hes-per-ides, edit: link to template by spell-struck)
Abigail Eliza Jenings November 13, 1992
5′8″ slender/athletic build
mid-shoulder blade curly red hair, dark blue eyes
----
INFODUMP:
*She’s Irish by heritage, mostly from her dad’s side. And since she looks stereotypically Irish--crazy curly red hair, blue eyes, freckles EVERYWHERE--kids in school(especially secondary school, but junior wasn’t kind either) used to tease her to see if they could get a rise of the stereotypical temper, too. They called her “Abby the Red” both for her hair and how red her face would go trying to ignore them. Bonus round, called her “Gabby Abby” when she talked too much.(there was a really low threshold on “too much”)
*As a result, she has iron-clad self control. Even if no one’s given her any crap for anything like that since secondary school, she’s careful to always be polite, professional, not slack off from any assignment--school or work--she has to complete, etc.
*Also hates the nickname ‘Abby’ as a result of said teasing, not super crazy about ‘Red’, either. No one gets away with the former, only her college roommate(so far; Felix miiiight turn out to be another exception) has gotten away with the latter.
*Despite not having a choice a couple times, she doesn’t swear. Like, ever. If other people want to, whatever, she’ll roll her eyes but deal with it.
*Doesn’t really drink much, either. This is not to counter any stereotype, she just doesn’t like how most alcoholic stuff tastes. Tina can, occasionally, coax her into a single fruity drink that she then nurses for approximately six hours before finishing off.
*She and her mum have a really good, close relationship, despite how often Rebecca’s away for work. There’s lots of phone calls etc even if they can’t talk for long and Rebecca can’t really say anything about work.
*Loves cats. She had a grey and white one named Rascal until a few months pre-game, but the poor thing was old and she had to put her down. She’ll probably get another cat eventually, but she’s not ready quite yet. She’d had Rascal since she was about ten, she needs a little longer to grieve before replacing her.
*Absolutely, totally 100% shot Adam. Both regrets it and doesn’t. (Hey, she warned him.)
*Quickly moving toward being besties with Felix, which is good; she needs a friend like him who gets her to loosen up and let her sarcastic side out to play more often. Tina tries, bless her, but since they work together, AJ’s still reluctant to completely let her hair down.
*Cares about people, always quick to offer comfort or leap to the defense of others, whether physically or otherwise. Empathetic almost to a fault.
*She has a couple old flannel workshirts of her dad’s that she wears to be comfy when she’s lounging around her apartment. They have his initials sewn into the inside of the collar. Since his first name was Aiden(purely h/c), that means his initials are her initials and it’s always made her feel closer to him. Wearing those shirts feels like she getting a hug from him, and she’d give up every other article of clothing she owns before parting with one of those shirts.
*Loves to read.
*Coffee fiend; likes just a little flavored creamer in there so it’s sweeter but she can still taste the coffee.
*Is allergic to strawberries
*Her apartment is extremely cozy, comfy furniture, lots of pillows, and one whole wall in her bedroom is bookshelves. They’re full, with books laid on top as well as lined up like they’re “supposed” to be.
*Has a frankly ridiculous and yet still-growing collection of throw pillows. She loves them, and really, it’s partially Tina’s fault--she keeps giving them to her as birthday/Christmas presents. AJ’s favorite, though, is the one her mum gave her as a house warming present when she first moved into her own apartment. It’s blue with a hummingbird embroidered on the front and is the perfect size to cuddle when she’s reading or watching tv or whatever.
*Despite their very limited interactions, Bobby makes her skin crawl and she hates people who exploit others’ pain/misfortune for their own profit, so she thinks he’s a weasel and a snake(no, wait, that’s an insult to weasels and snakes everywhere) and he’s one of the very, very, very few people she’s not sweet as apple pie to.
*Will kill for raspberry chocolate muffins.
*Has a ladybug tattooed on the inside of her left ankle
*While when given the choice she tends to wear button-down shirts(usually solid colors, but occasionally patterned), nice jeans, and a waistcoat--sorta nice and professional but still casual--she sticks to Doc Marten boots for shoes. She has two pairs, one’s black and the other very dark blue. She’s had the blue ones since she was seventeen or eighteen so they’re very, very beat up but still going strong. She’d probably call them her favorite shoes. (three guesses what she was wearing when Murphy grabbed her, bc I am that mean) She likes them for the durability and comfort, sure, but also bc the soles are thick enough it gives her another inch of height, and there’s something about that magical shift from 5′8″ to 5′9″ that makes people take her more seriously.
*Wears an Italian charm bracelet, with links for her birthstone(orange topaz), each of her parents(a gladiolus for her dad, a white carnation for her mum), when she joined the police force(squad car) and made detective(a badge), her interests(a cat and a book), and Tina bc they’re friends(Gerber daisy). She adds a crescent moon between Book 1 and 2.
*Always has a hair tie around her wrist, even if her hair’s already up, bc you never know when you’ll need another one.
*She loves photography and has a really good eye for it. It’s never been more than a hobby, but it was a pretty serious one for a while in college, and she still looks at everything through that lens(pun intended :D) (also she’s just artistic in general, but more on that–potentially–later >:3)
*After photography, her primary artistic outlet is pencil sketches. In recent years it’s been largely limited to doodles in her notes when she’s bored or stuck working her way through a problem, but she’s still pretty good.
#abigail jenings#the wayhaven chronicles#look i got it done!#i forgot to write down/screenshot her stats from her first game#so this is a combo of spitballing and running her through a couple more times as close as possible to what i could remember#(okay maybe took some different flirts with nate on purpose#a girl gets CURIOUS)#and tbh for her it's less charming vs intimidating and more charming vs awkward#twc

it’s absolutely staggering how many people insist amy pond and clara oswald are nothing more than idealized caricatures while in the same breath claim rose tyler and donna noble are the most relatable companions in doctor who. if you ask me, amy and clara are two of the most realistic female characters i’ve ever seen in fiction.
let’s start with amy. in season 5, one of the central difficulties she has to overcome is her fear of commitment to rory and her initial reluctance to get married. a fear of commitment in fiction is usually portrayed in male characters despite it being common in reality across all genders, and it doesn’t come from a lack of love for the other person. amy experiences a fear of devoting herself fully to someone after all of the abandonment she suffered throughout her childhood (parents that were mysteriously never around, the doctor leaving her waiting, etc). but she overcomes this fear after being confronted directly with the loss of rory and finishes the season happily wedded to him. she faces realistic, internal challenges in her life and conquers them over the course of her own character arc. amy does this again in season 6, when she has to face the fact that the doctor is not the fairytale hero she’s seen him as ever since she was a child; that he won’t always be able to save her, and that he is as imperfect and vain as anyone else. and although it’s heartbreaking, amy accepts this about him and moves on from her own idolization of him. this arc of her character represents the moment we all experience when we stop seeing the world through the eyes of our childhood selves and realize its imperfections, as well as the moment when we learn to accept those imperfections for what they are. after this, in season 7, amy is ready to move on from a life of adventuring with the doctor to a life of normalcy with her husband. an ordinary lifestyle may not seem appealing to many of us, but to most people on this earth, it’s all we will ever have, and amy’s development into someone who can leave behind her childhood fairytale in order to live out normal days with the person she loves--- it’s so applicable to real life, and quite frankly, so inspirational.
now, on to clara, whose arcs are a bit in the reverse order of amy’s. when we first meet clara oswald in season 7, she’s an ordinary young woman who is swept away into adventures across time and space with the doctor. she’s witty, clever, bossy, confident, and wholly unique as an individual, and despite all of that, so much of clara remains ordinary. in season 8, she works as a school teacher, one of the most mundane (yet extremely important) jobs in the world, and she falls in love with a fellow teacher. she balances a life of traveling with the doctor with an exceedingly ordinary life. “normal is overrated” she says, but the fact remains that she’s still an ordinary woman even while being so clever and brilliant, and her arc in season 8 is about clara accepting that she can do ordinary things while still being extraordinary, which is honestly so inspirational. then comes season 9, and therein lies the tragedy of her character. clara has suffered a personal loss of incredible magnitude in danny pink’s death, severing the strongest tie to her ordinary life, and in attempting to move on from her grief, she throws herself fully into her travels with the doctor. she becomes more reckless, more unafraid, more confident in her own dangerous choices and actions. it’s such a realistic way of dealing with, or in this case, suppressing immeasurable grief. not everyone reacts to loss this way, but many do, and for many, the reckless lifestyle they embrace in order to forget the pain is more destructive than the pain itself. and this is exactly what happens with clara. she continuously takes risks throughout season 9, always confident in her own ability to calculate the odds and pull through, until her overconfidence leads her to a risk that proves fatal. clara oswald is killed by the self-destructive way she dealt with her own grief. this is unbelievably realistic and tragic. it’s also something that, like amy’s fear of commitment, is an arc that’s usually only written for male characters. although the doctor manages to bring her back with a time stream loophole, her fate is sealed, and she’s forever destined to die in that moment of time. so she goes off into the universe in her own tardis, traveling through time and space, always running from her own fate, from her grief, from everything that will ever hurt, plunging herself into the ultimate distraction from all things ordinary, just like the doctor does. it’s a bittersweet ending for her arc, and it echoes something that is very real in a lot of people’s lives.
tldr: amy is relatable in the childlike wonder she retains and the way it’s consistently challenged; in the fear she feels toward devoting herself to others that is rooted in issues of abandonment; clara is relatable in the absolute normalcy of her life outside of the doctor; in the overwhelming grief she experiences over a loss and how she avoids that grief. they aren’t mere idealized caricatures. they are flawed, and they face distinct challenges in their own personal outlooks with arcs that give them proper resolutions, whether happy or sad, to these challenges.
now, let’s look at rose tyler and donna noble, the two companions people most often relate to.
rose is a completely regular teenage girl. her school grades were consistently average, she has no particular talents to speak of, she works in a shop, she has no future prospects for a better job or higher education, and nothing special has ever happened in her entire life. rose is the absolute peak of ordinary, which is why so many people relate to her. we could all easily fit ourselves into her shoes. i also like eating chips and am bored 24/7. but then the doctor whisks her away, and her life begins to revolve solely around him. this is where the relatability nose dives for me. we’re all searching for the escape that will let us ignore how boring or awful the world around us is for a little while, whether that’s music, books, a new fandom, anything at all. traveling with the doctor is rose’s permanent escape from her world. the thing is, this is never portrayed as anything but a good thing. the doctor is rose’s whole new life. she occasionally visits home, but it’s only a visit, nothing to indicate that life on earth is something she’ll ever want to dabble in again. she’s been completely liberated from all the troubles she once faced. i can’t relate to this at all, because there will never be anything that will whisk me away from needing a job, needing money, or needing an education. what rose experiences is a full blown pipe dream. yes, it’s fun to watch, and think about, and wish for, but it isn’t exactly relatable. rose is never portrayed as a character who is avoiding the challenges of regular life--- she’s just having a great time. even when she’s trapped in a parallel world, she doesn’t have to return to the mundane life she once knew. she works with torchwood and continues on in that same vein of alien threats, time and space, alternate dimensions, etc., where her brand new true potential thrives. she gets to focus on reuniting with the doctor, and the only challenge she faces is the actual act of crossing worlds, not any kind of personal challenge. one might say she has to deal with the difficulty of living on with a meta crisis clone of the doctor instead of the real doctor, but that’s a different rant. rose simply never had an overarching character development in which she could confront her own personal flaws, which is something that made amy and clara so relatable. she simply had a great time with a handsome doctor she fell in love with, and then circumstance pulled them apart.
now, for donna. i do love donna. i love the friendship she has with the doctor, but the foundation of her character is very similar to rose’s. donna is an incredibly average woman who has worked a series of temporary jobs, never feeling important, but always wanting more. it’s another character template we can all easily fit ourselves into. donna does have an arc where she confronts her own lack of self worth over the course of season 4, an arc that is met with her being told that she is the most important woman in all of creation. every companion has a title associated with them: amy is the girl who waited, clara is the impossible girl, martha is the woman who walked the earth, and donna noble is the most important woman in the universe. donna’s struggle with self worth is met with the fact that she is the most important woman in creation because she's the woman who saves all of reality from davros and the daleks, however this is where this arc still loses all trace of relatability for me. donna doesn’t become the most important woman in all of creation in light of her own ordinary qualities--- she only becomes this by becoming part time lord and, in her own words, by gaining “the mind” of the doctor. donna as herself already had great potential, but her arc of dealing with her own self worth is resolved by giving her the attributes of someone else, and only by happenstance. it’s played off as destiny or fate, but all she had to do was touch the hand and the meta crisis happened on its own. and yes, the narrative insists that it’s donna’s human traits that make her even more intelligent than the doctor when she’s part time lord, but the fact still remains that she required part of him to reach that potential at all. like rose being liberated entirely from her own boring life, this just isn’t realistic, and therefore isn’t relatable.
donna and rose are both people who need the doctor in their lives, and without him, they feel either worthless or as if their life has no meaning. contrarily, amy and clara develop themselves as characters who are able to exist separately from the doctor, who have their own personal conflicts apart from him and who forge lives outside of him. amy and clara are both involved in the overall stories that are led by the doctor, but they also both have internal struggles that are independent of him and are resolved as part of their own development, sometimes with his help but never because of him.
maybe someone out there reading this disagrees with me. but this is my observation after seeing so many people claim that amy pond and clara oswald are worse, less likable, and less relatable than rose tyler and donna noble.
(and if anyone is wondering why i didn’t talk about martha or bill, it’s because i don’t see anyone calling them either relatable or unrelatable. in fact i don’t see people really talk about them at all, which is an entire problem in and of itself, and is why i didn’t include that problem in this rant)
#doctor who#moffat era#amy pond#clara oswald#rtd era#rose tyler#donna noble#dw meta#my rant#long post#i woke up at 3am thinking about this so here we are#idk if i even expressed these ideas properly#but in this house we stan amy and clara

Ghostsona (BBC Ghosts)
Finally got round to doing this thingy (slightly late to the bandwagon but ah well)
Name: Ernestène Molle Renouf
Date of birth: June 1048
Date of death: December 1070
Age at death: 22
Cause of death: Murdered by fellow Normans; visible dagger wound in the back. She was killed after the Norman nobility she was serving did something that William the Conqueror didn’t like. They fled in the night but her (slightly heeled) boot got stuck in the mud as they were fleeing (Button House wasn’t there yet) and by the time she’d got it off they had caught up to her. She only has one shoe as a ghost and as such walks a bit lopsidedly.
Button House or elsewhere? Button House, well the grounds anyway
Thoughts on the other ghosts:
Pat: She likes him but is a little confused by him. Sympathises with his cause of death as she misunderstands slightly. He’s very nice and caring though which is nice.
Thomas: She doesn’t really speak enough English (being Norman) to fully appreciate his poetry and their relationship is fairly neutral. She relates to his crush on Alison (being a raging bisexual) but thinks he’s going about it in the wrong way.
Fanny: She reminds her a bit of the Norman noblewoman she was a servant to, Fanny doesn’t disapprove of her though as she’s a people pleaser and usually tries to be proper around her.
The Captain: Gay/bi solidarity. There wasn’t much of a connection at first but he became outraged after finding out how she died (“cowards!”) and he became pretty protective after that, although she can find it a bit much.
Kitty: Lowkey (highkey) has a massive crush, like a proper disaster bi deals with it by avoiding her. This makes Kitty more determined to make friends with her.
Robin: Likes him. She’s been there a long time (though not as long as him) and she tried to teach him to French, although he’s since taken to English better. He makes sure to not jump out at her since it’s likely to remind her of her death.
Mary: Best friends! They just get on so well. Mary really brings out her chaotic side.
Julian: Terrified. She avoids him when she can and likes to have Robin or Mary (or even the well-meaning Captain) with her in the room when he’s there so she doesn’t have to talk to him. She privately sympathises with his clothing plight though.
Humphrey: Tries to help him, thinks his body gives great hugs.
Plague ghosts: Surprisingly gets on really well. She visits them a lot.
Jemima: Reminds her of her little sister back in France, so is very protective.
Special ghost powers? In the middle of the night if you’re listening for it you might be able to hear her uneven walking gait (from the shoe) on the floor above.
If they could be seen by a living human, what would their reaction be? Excitement, although wouldn’t go out of her way to talk to them - the ‘be seen but not heard’ is still pretty ingrained.
What do they look like? I can’t do art so I’ll just vaguely describe. White Norman with short brown hair and brown eyes. Fairly small at 5′1″ (155cm) and has a lot of freckles.
Which of the friends would they insist they are? I haven’t watched friends and she wouldn’t insist on anything. She’d prefer to get Mary to choose for her and Mary, somewhat confusedly but very excitedly, just picks the sofa.
Other headcanons:
- She comes across as very shy and a bit of a doormat but is just very subtle and reserved.
- It can sometimes take a few minutes to realise she’s just insulted you.
- She’s a very fast runner despite the shoe problem and likes to race the other ghosts (especially the captain, who is the fastest (based on ep. 2 when they all chase the car)).
- She came over to England just after the Norman conquest as she was a servant in the household of some fussy Norman nobility. As a result, French is her first language. While she’s learning English, she is far more articulate in French and often swaps languages to swear/insult people.
- She doesn’t like the design of Button House and judges it, mostly in French so Fanny won’t understand.
I vaguely used the template made by @ghostssona when doing this. And I already have another idea for a different one, oops...

So uhhhh I drew a lot of RWBY this year... only two of these are non RWBY and tbh I could have just as easily put something RWBY for June Template
Retrospective under the cut bc it’s LONG
RETROSPECTIVE January: First piece of the year! I still like this piece and I think it shows how much I improved from the original version of it. Also I just like looking at it bc it's soft content of my rare pair. I do think I made the rose look photorealistic which looks... bad esp with all the other more stylized flowers, and I got lazy with the bleeding hearts by just drawing one set and flipping them. Emerald's hair also could look better. February: I made this around GNG week, which was a fun, good time, long before the server imploded on itself. I got really lazy with the backgrounds, obviously, but I do like the poses in this one, tho it helped that I based it off of screenshots from Young Justice. I also just really like how Merc looks in this one. March: March wasn't a very prolific month for art, I don't think I produced much besides this and one comic piece for GNG week. I'm not sure why exactly, I can't find any specific reason why I would be unproductive that month. I'm gonna just assume I was drained from work all the time and didn't have the energy to put out good art, and also I was getting into a slump bc all my art was starting to look same-y. This piece isn't very good, but I chose it because I did it without a reference, and at this point that was going out of my comfort zone. It's obviously not super dynamic, but at the very least you can tell I intended there to be motion to it. April: This also wasn't a very prolific month for art, not as bad as March, but for the same reasons. I was also really starting to feel burnout from the RWBY fandom, specifically wasps and conflict within the GNG server. This was also when the Art vs the Artist meme was popular, and I realized I didn't want to do that meme because my art was too similar and boring, which also brought me down a peg. Though I put out a few good chibis in April, I chose my Mercury redesign bc I was really proud of it. I could never get the Emerald redesign to mesh quite right, but I can say I'm really proud of how Mercury's came out. May: May had me bounce out of my art slump and in full force trying to expand my skills! Specifically exploring painting. Although May was about as prolific as April, what I did create I put a lot into. It was difficult to pick between this and my app of Edison, because I'm really proud of both, but in the end I went with this commission of Mercury because I pushed myself to try and use an interesting perspective for the piece instead of my usual stand still and face the camera pose. Because I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, this was one of the best things I made all year, and may be my favorite piece of the year. June: TIME TO STRESS OUT ABOUT CONNECTICON! So if you follow me on twitter, you might have noticed I made a lot of posts at the beginning of the year low key throwing shade at myself for drawing my oc's instead of more "important" art. Well, that important art that I was procrastinating was con merch, and con was the second week of July, so I really had to get my ass in gear to finish merch on time (spoiler, I didn't finish a lot of it on time). This piece and July's piece are both posters I made for Connecticon, and while I like July's much better, that doesn't mean I find this piece bad. I really should have known that no one at con would realize it was a goonies reference tho -_-; I also lost a lot of love for this piece after season 6 of Voltron, which I watched while I was about 60% of the way through this piece, so I had to force myself to finish it. July: I love this piece!!!! Don't get me wrong, I know it has flaws, but look at it! The lines are so crisp, the colors look good, Roman and Merc's expressions are mwuah chefs kiss, and I just love all of them!!! ... except for Neo. I really didn't do her justice in this piece, her hair is too fluffy, her head is way to oversized to the point that she looks like a bobblehead, and her eyes are too close together. Really if you take out Neo's head that whole problem goes away. I also love all the tiny details I put in this one, from emerald's chaps to roman's rose to Neo's lace parasol. You can tell I was way more passionate about this piece than I was about the Voltron piece. August: pretty sure this is when I quit my job cashiering, and thank god bc customers suck. If I was going off of sheer popularity, Chibi Pyrrha would have taken this slot no contest, and while I love chibi Pyrrha, I don't think it was the best of the month. I chose this little princess and the pauper au doodle because I tried a year ago to draw these two dancing, and it looked like dog shit. It was flat and ugly. But this has motion to it, and even looking at it now makes me feel warm and happy inside. It's just a good cute drawing of my otp. September: My piece for the RWBY tarot project! I have a lot of mixed emotions about this one. on the one hand, I love how mercury looks, his expression, the lighting, the visceral gore from his legs (ESPECIALLY THE VISCERAL GORE ON HIS LEGS) and the hands of the undead, all look stunning and I don't think I could be more happy with how they turned out. And then we get to the background. The caduceus isn't the worst thing ever, but it's severely lacking in quality compared to the rendering on mercury in front of it, and a lot of it is clearly pixellated from me trying to stretch and squash it just right. And the fire is a hot (no pun intended) mess. It's flat, incoherent, and doesn't lead the eye anywhere. It's a shame too because I wanted to do more with it, but I a) didn't have enough time or patience to figure out what I needed to do to fix it and b) didn't want to go outside of my comfort level, so I gave up and decided to be satisfied with what I had. October: October was another good month for art, I made a turnaround sheet for Moss, painted a full body (and slightly lewd) Rudy, and made a decent attempt at inktober. Ok, so I got like 2 days in, but I improved a lot on inking from last year! Fun fact! this piece was originally going to be fan art of Lindsay Jones, but after I did some thumbnails to figure out a pose, I thought it would suit White Diamond better, and I could also sell it as merch. I love this piece. I think I captured the sinister mood well, and conveyed the story I wanted to without any dialogue (at least the notes on Tumblr make me assume I did a decent job, lotta people really wigged out lol) I really worked hard to get the lighting right on this one, and I think it shows. My absolutely favorite thing about this piece funnily enough, is Amethyst. I think I just did a great job drawing her and I'm proud of myself ok. Stevens bubble and my trouble figuring out how to get WD's leg just right are the only things that I dislike about this piece, but I might go back and fix those. November: IM SO PROUD OF THIS COMMISSION!!!!!! I worked so god damn hard on this chef's kiss poifect, and it really shows. I started using a new brush at this point, the Ojing series on Clip Studio Paint, which I recommend and have been using a lot since. I've also been using this shading technique since drawing this. I love how it sort of fades out but it's still really crisp. I also love all the little details that give this piece character, like her shoes and the stripes on her jacket. This piece really takes a lot of the stuff I learned over the year and combines it into one piece, and I could not be prouder of it. I have absolutely no problems with this one, though I do find the weapon a bit plain, but it's what the client described. December: AND NOW IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!! I had been working on this piece since August, going back to it every now and then and getting frustrated. I'm really glad I came back to it and finally finished it, since I love this pair and I put a lot of effort into it back in August. However, I'm also really glad I completely overhauled a lot of it, specifically the flowers. Though I'm not 100% happy with the mums in this one, they look a thousand times better than the mums I had originally sketched back in August, and were part of the reason I had such a hard time finishing this for months. I also thought it would be nice to end the year on the same note it started; with a flower couple. I've definitely learned a lot since January, and I hope to continue growing in 2019! 2019 GOALS!

Sell Digital Products Online
How to sell digital products online
Hi you have landed on this page because you want to understand if you can make money online by just selling some digital products well, first of all, I would like to mention few statistics about how you can make money online by selling digital products
let's first understand Why people use the internet
82.3 people online use internet for creating their profiles messaging and content sharing via social media
74.4% people use internet for watching videos online and sharing them
69.5 people use internet to read news and publications
65.9% use internet to gather information about health issues
65.5% use internet to gather more information about services and product
Study shows that total number of internet users in millions has increased by 250% from 2005 to 2017
If you look back in 2005 we know that 1024 million people were using the internet but now as we are in 2018 it's approximately 3600 billion users use internet on daily basis. wow...
Now you must be thinking that it's a BIG BIG opportunity to make money online because if we consider an old-school scenario where that many people are walking on the road then I have more feets to sell shoes to. I mean it's very simple math the more people you are gathered around the more scope you have to sell different stuff.
Well that is absolutely correct because internet has a huge potential of buyers present online it's the best place to make money and make yourself available to a wider audience.
Now the second thought comes into the mind that what is that one thing I should create as a product and sell it online so that I can make millions on an online store which will be open to the world 24X7.
Let's take a real-life example; when you go to a local market or a mall or a shop and you see an interesting product which resolves a small problem in your life with a fair price. Will you be interested in making a purchase? I mean, to be honest, we all buy stuff online which we even don't need in our life. And something with fare price solving life issues? I will jump over it. There are products which actually solve small problems of human life for example:
If you see a shoe shop that resolve problem of feet shelter
If you see a food shop that resolve problem of Hunger
If you see a chocolate shop that resolve a problem of being pampered
I know what you're thinking I'm being stupid here but this is the fact every single product in this world actually solve One small problem.
Now let's say you have decided to create a product. It might be a gadget or it might be a t-shirt, whatever it is, selling a physical product online is not easy. You have to pack it, ship it and most importantly handle returns. It's too time-consuming and too many regulations to follow. So what's the best alternative? well you can sell digital products for which you don't have to do any packaging any shipping and you can easily manage the Returns.
So the next question is what products are best to sell online. I have drafted a list of 5 products which has been on the top chart of best selling products online.
What products are best to sell online?
eBooks: Without any doubt, ebooks are still holding the first position on the chart. why? because as I mentioned earlier, a huge number of people are looking for knowledge and information online and ebooks are the best piece of information which you can get from a subject matter expert.
Apps: Yes apps hold the second position in the top chart; why? because in recent years smartphones have grown in crazy numbers, which enables humans to have access to millions of app resolving small issues; resulting heavy human interaction with smartphones. For example you can have an app which actually records the calories you eat every day and tells you how much you should be eating in order to achieve your goal. A game like Angry Birds, utility app like music player, a messaging app like WhatsApp etc.
Videos: Yes video footage are the third placeholder in the top chart for best selling digital products. Nowadays people love to see on-demand content. You might be already aware of Netflix udemy and many more website which sells video contents online and satisfying millions of their customers. I mean science has already proven that image and videos are better ways of learning to compare to text and graphs.
Photography: Even though videos are making their way into the modern marketing techniques, Photos and images are still the primary way of expression. Many photographers are making there living from just doing photography and selling their art online to consumers. Sometimes it's individuals, sometimes it's marketing agencies, sometimes it's big organizations. All of them needs fresh pictures and photography for their own needs.
Music: Yes music is still holding the 5th place on the top chart of online products in sales. There are many companies like iTunes from Apple, Spotify, Savaan etc. they do their contract with creators, musicians, and composers. Then they sell those contents to the end consumer at a very affordable price. you can create your own music but that needs a lot of Talent and lot of luck. Being superstore in the music industry is really tough. It's a huge competition and too much money is involved. But you can still create your own music album without spending much and spread the word on social media. You might meet with your luck and become a celebrity overnight.
So now you know which are the top selling 5 digital products people buy online. So let's say you have decided to create one of the products listed above. The next question is how do you create a digital product?
How do I create a digital product?
So now you need to understand how to create a digital product. Some people will tell you that; use a template and just play around and launch a new product. Some people will advice just create a music file on GarageBand software on your Macbook and then sell it for a really cheap price. But this is not actually the point here. Point is you need to understand what people need. What is the market trends and according to that you have to launch your digital product because what's the point of launching a product with no demand? There are thousands of digital books online on Amazon which never got even sold once. There are many which may be sold for two-three times because friends and family have to buy them. And there are many other books which have been sold more than 10000 times, just because people need to know the information available on the books. So I would say you need to follow a proper strategy to launch a product. Below I tried to explain how you can decide and launch a new digital product:
Digital product idea: First of all, come up with the digital product idea and validate that idea with unbiased feedback. Usually, when I want to launch a product I always start my research on Google Trends and uber suggest. Google Trends and search topics will give you an idea of what people are looking for and what they are talking about. Which will help to understand your customers and they're needs. The second tool I use to validate my product idea is Google keyword search tool. With this tool I can easily understand how many people are after my product or in other words; I can say I can research about the keywords which I need to optimize my product. So that people can easily find my product and understand what benefits my product can provide them. This strategy always worked for me because I am following the same old-school rule. “Build the prisons and they will commit the crimes. Brian Spellman” I mean what is the point of creating something which nobody is going to buy isn't it?
Email subscription: The second thing I do is create a waiting list for my product; with the help of creating an email subscription form. This will give you a fairly quick idea of how many people is interested in your product. And obviously in a passive way you are validating your product need in the market. I recommend to simply create a landing page or a website and then add a subscription form to it. If somebody is interested in your product and they're ready to give you the email address that means they are convinced enough to actually go through your pitch when you launch a product and potentially will be interested to buy it. “A small list that wants exactly what you are offering is better that the bigger list that isn’t commited - Ramsey Leimenstoll”
Product Launch: Once you have created a subscription list or a sizable amount of social community you are ready to launch a product. The number of people who have got interested in your product will bring you a tiny bit of traffic on your website which will motivate you to create your product and make sure the quality is the best. And the important point here is you can use this list of people to promote your product. For example, in 2010 I have created a gadget. I've got 50 users interested in my newsletter subscription to know more about that gadget. These 50 users were my early adaptors. Hence on the first day of launch, I price my product £100 and send an email to all these 50 early birds that I will give you this gadget for free if you share my products details with your review on your social media and send me back the screenshot. That actually works really good for me because that got viral and by word of mouth and social media I got thousands of people engaging into conversations. Which let to 210 sales on my first launch week. “Content is fire, social media is gasoline.” - Jay Baer
Get feedback and improve your product: Once you have made your first 100 sales always reach out to your buyers and ask them for their feedback. This will help you to improvise your product in a way that it will fit better into your end user needs. That's what exactly Google does with all new product launches. Feedback is the key nowadays. I mean big Tech Giants, Pharmaceutical Industries, and traditional consumer goods producers they all use this feedback method to improve their products and deliver more value for money. It's so successful because the end users feel like all the improvements and additions to the product, has been introduced because of recommendations made. That makes them feel a part of the product lifecycle. “We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve. - Bill Gate” Now that you're ready with your product let's go and figure out how you can sell your product online.
How can I sell Digital Product online?
There are plenty of ways by which you can sell your digital product online. Create your own website: you can create your own website with world-famous CMS like WordPress. Once you're done with your website you can add your product to it and then attach the checkout with your preferred payment Gateway. Usually having a WordPress based website with your hosting and domain will cost you somewhere around 60 to £70 a year. Which I understand that not possible for every online venture. Just having a website is not enough sometimes because it needs updates, maintenance. If there is a problem or issue on the WordPress website you might need to go to an expert and ask for help. Which will again incur a cost. So basically you have to do a lot of investment before even making a single sale. eBay and Amazon: You can add your digital product on eBay or Amazon and start marketing. but remember this is a very competitive market place where you have to compete with several other sellers in your niche. Also, Amazon charges approx 20% and eBay charges around 15% of commission on each sale. These marketplaces actually also charge you to list your products on their portal. You might get a lot of audience on these marketplaces but consider a situation where you want to buy a digital product and you go to eBay or Amazon what will you do? you will read about it or you will see the feedbacks or rating. Well, it's not a physical product isn't it and you will go outside those websites and then search for this product and understand what is the value you are going to get out of it. Once your research is done then only you will purchase it. So if you're doing a research for your product online; not on eBay or Amazon then it doesn't actually matter where you are selling your product. What matters is how much you can convince your buyers and how much money you're making on each sale. Because ultimately you're bringing traffic to your sales page on eBay and Amazon via your own marketing efforts. So the last question comes to the mind is where can I sell my digital product for free.
Where can I sell Digital Product online for free?
As you have understood earlier that setting up your own website incurs you a lot of cost in terms of buying a domain, setting up a website getting hosting etc. and if you go to eBay or Amazon then you will get charged for even listing your product plus a huge commission on each sale. What will be the best alternative? Well, selldigitalproductsonline.com is the answer for you. On SDPO you can host your product for free and instantly start selling. Sell digital products online has thousands of affiliate who will see your product instantly after your listing and start promoting it. You just have to decide how much percentage of sales you would like to share with those affiliates. Because the more you choose to share, the more they are encouraged to promote. And sell digital products online only charge you 5% of your total sales so basically you get to keep a whole 95% to yourself. And for 5% SDPO is charging you got your affiliate system, invoicing, delivery, inventory management, Fund distribution etc. sorted.

SUPERNATURAL THE ANIMATION: A Dissection of Dean’s Failed Characterization & Design (PART 1 - The Technicals)
I have a lot on my chest about the anime that I couldn’t really get into in both of my last posts since the topic of what makes the anime series so cringe-worthy is a very intricate one, making the explanation of it all become a SERIES OF ESSAYS. So please read my previous installments before getting into this one because I will be referencing those a lot:
SUPERNATURAL THE ANIMATION: A THESIS OVERVIEW ON JAPANESE ANIME PRODUCTION & CHARACTER DESIGN
SUPERNATURAL THE ANIMATION: THE IMPORTANCE COLOR DESIGN BRINGS TO VISUAL TONE
But anyway, let’s talk about Dean. I’m gonna talk about Dean.
I will talk about Dean because Sam was portrayed pretty okay in the anime and it’s really Dean’s characterization that strikes a chord with a lot of fans of the original Supernatural series. (However I will consider a separate Sam essay to those in favor of it.)
But I haven’t really seen a lot of people put into words about makes them feel the way they do. So what’s the problem with Dean?
Refresher:
While I understand this distinction, I think that we can all agree that the overall interpretation of Dean suck balls and I’d like to argue that:
rather than misinterpreting Dean’s character, the writers were more focused on one of Dean’s major facades and ran with it.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
First, I’d like to address the elephant in the room: Why an anime series?
Why did Supernatural garner enough attention to GET an anime series? What is so special about Supernatural AND anime that a large group of creatives and investors were willing to marry the two?
Honestly, that question is big enough for another essay on it’s own. But the bottom line is:
Anime is watched for the melodrama.
Nuance and subtitles are more akin to live action film since the culture around the different intricacies of a story have larger factors that contribute to it. (i.e, it doesn’t matter what’s written because an actor may just ad-lib it, Murphey’s Law, etc.)
So basically, when you have an animated show what you see is what you get by convention. There really is no use arguing over what is canon and what is not because, unlike an actor, decisions and change of mind can’t be attributed in the moment when it comes to character performance. People are more likely to question the mindset of a decision behind a scene when it’s animated more often than leaving it to the death of the author.
But it’s because of this that anime often has namely traits of exaggeration: screaming characters crying about their passion in the heat of battle, long ass internal monologues, “-dere” archetypes, the works.
Which means that anime characters are usually walking talking hyperbolic symbols. (Whether or not you enjoy this is usually the deciding factor between anime fans and those who are not.)
And this ties directly into Dean.
Because Dean in the anime series is an exaggeration of himself from the original show.
Rather, an exaggeration of one specific facade:
The facade Dean pulls up in season one episode 1. The fake Dean that tends to overcompensate his insecurities with bravado.
WHY this scene in particular is one that actually makes sense.
Mostly because this scene IS a if not THE root scene that cemented Dean Winchester’s starting point launching endless possibilities of character traits to be explored for seasons to come. It’s a highly impacted scene that’s very memorable, both in it’s first impressions and as a point of reference for his development.
I infer that the writers of the anime series saw this and built upon their own impressions of it. Namely, they saw this facade and thought this was the True Dean Winchester. (Which, to those who have watched past season 2, know is very far from the truth.)
So how did they write Dean Winchester?
Dean Winchester is perceived to be like a generic anime bad boy
(I say “perceived” since by all means the Supernatural anime is a reinterpretation with very deliberate changes.)
What I’m talking about are those “thug” type bullies in every school centered anime show.
And while I make the claim that the writers may have built off of the scene from the pilot in painting a picture of Dean’s character in their heads, I’m also led to believe that this decision to have Dean come off as a “thug” is less of a conscious choice...
...and more of a conventional one.
Because nothing fits Fake Bravado Dean like Generic Anime Thug Dude when it comes to a script laden with anime-like tropes.
(To make a more compelling dissection of the writer’s true interpretation of Dean SPECIFICALLY would require me to rewatch and analyze ALL of the anime’s original standalone episodes.
...for the sake of brevity and the fact that I don’t want to rewatch any of the anime’s episodes in it’s entirety because I can’t stand even 5 seconds of this animated drivel I Am Not Going to Do That unless a lot of people ask about it or if people just wanna see me suffer.)
But okay, it’s sort of weird to gauge the errors of Dean’s characterization when this anime series nearly follows the original show’s 1st and 2nd season’s storylines verbatim.
Now that I think about it, it’s even weirder to be so allergic to an interpretation of a character when the source material is being 99.9% faithfully adapted--especially with the same lines and set up. So what gives?
What makes anime Dean’s characterization so off from the original to a drastic degree?
The “mischaracterization” is greatly tied into Dean’s character design and the way he emotes--which affects him greatly on the narrative of the anime series as a whole.
I already criticized the character designs in the lack of coherence in color design as well as execution narratively, but the latter still stands to be a huge major problem since it does just that.
Affect the narrative.
Which means it also affects the characters and the themes.
Which ties back again to Dean being perceived as an anime thug.
And I know this because Dean makes the same goddamn faces as an anime thug.
(In this case I’ll be referencing Space Dandy since I can’t find generic anime examples of side characters that embody this profile despite this stereotype and it’s mannerisms invading vast amounts of shows. However anyone who has seen enough anime will know what I’m talking about. And again, the “look” given by the artistic nuances/techniques of the character design of the anime series is not very original.)
You know what, as an aside I’m just going to throw in the fact that Space Dandy’s “look” is very similar to to the spn anime down to the BL shadows in which Dandy is compared with Redline
And that Jessica is totally generically designed
Anyway, this extends further than Dean’s facial expressions alone.
It extends to his wardrobe which totally starts to unhinge Dean’s persona. oddly enough.
So here’s a round of nit-picking
Why in god’s name is Dean wearing sunglasses indoors? He already went through an entire spiel about ineffectiveness at night
and it’s not like having it indoors makes it any less ridiculous. And yes, he does wear them again in later seasons both unironically and ironically
But these cues of character insight (that people have written far better meta for) is in the context of later seasons and I highly doubt the anime production team could’ve predicted any of this so I’m just going to have a giant ????? over this.
Back to this awful screenshot again.
But seriously, anyone shirtless in the snow deserves to die of hypothermia.
Dean is the last person to feel comfortable with minimal clothing due to years of sexual harassment/assault from CREATURES more often than not
Even more so whenever Dean is naked, it’s used more for vulnerability over titillation:
I hate this stupid screenshot.
It is awful, why? Because anime characters rarely stray from their trope mannerisms unless the story calls for it, or the animators dedicate some time to create impressive sakuga for novelty’s sake. If Dean has body language like this now, that mean’s he’s likely going to exhibit it again no matter what the context is in terms of story or character.
Leading to this abomination.
I know what you are doing. I get it. I KNOW.
I KNOW YOU’RE DRAWING DEAN THIS WAY BECAUSE APPARENTLY TO YOU DEAN IS AN ANIME THUG WHICH MEANS ANIME THUGS EXHIBIT THIS KIND OF UNCARING BODY LANGUAGE BUT NEED WE FORGET THAT DEAN LOVES HIS CAR MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF
HAVING HIS SHOES AGAINST THE SEAT OR ANYWHERE NEAR THE LEATHER IS THE SAME AS DEFECATING ON IT. ARE YOU SERIOUS RN??? THAT’S LIKE THE ONE THING DEAN WINCHESTER IS ALL ABOUT AND IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN ESPECIALLY WHEN IT CAME TO DEVELOPMENTS OF DEMON!DEAN
This...this shit I can’t forgive. This is so absent-minded it physically hurts me. I can’t be the only one bothered by this.
Addendum: I don’t even really care if that’s NOT the impala (in this episode of the anime Sam and Dean were thrown into the backseat of a police car.) I still don’t think Dean would EVER exhibit this sort of body language in any car.
It also still doesn’t excuse the lack of variety in Dean’s emoting and body language as a whole. You could do so much storytelling in his body language (since Jensen Ackles is a master at that) but they instead chose to stick with a template of a character and never strayed from it.
But...I digress.
Incidentally of all places Yuri!! On Ice has closer character designs of Sam and Dean that for some virulent reason exists (Also incidentally, if you so much as breathe the title of YOI you will be immediately blocked I am not joking around. Don’t test me.)
As does Yami Shibai
So it’s not like a competent/more modern design tailored to anime is impossible.
It is very possible. So if you have your defense that the character designs of the spn anime are inherently horrible BECAUSE it’s supposed to “look anime” you’re probably just suffering from media illiteracy.
However, again, I made claim that the “style” of the Supernatural anime character designs are not what make it fail.
It’s the execution of nuances that killed it--both visually and narratively. And I still stand by that.
To form examples, that means more design redraws!!!
However, the redraws this time around will have it’s own separate post since the inner working of what can make or break a design will be discussed and demonstrated there.
SEE YOU IN PART 2!!!

survey by vyvyan86
Section 1 – Who were you?
Think back as far as you can. What is the first memory you have? This gets asked a loooooot in surveys and I’ve answered this many times, but my earliest memory is of me waking up in a Winnie the Pooh tent with my sister when I was 3 and she was 1. Our parents took us ‘camping’ which was really nothing more than a tent set up in their room.
What is something you remember enjoying very much as a small child? Reading took up pretty much my entire personality. I was always found with one no matter where I was and it was all I received as presents since my relatives and my parents’ friends knew how much I liked to read at a young age. Shame that hobby’s gone now.
How old were you, when you made your very first friend? I was in kindergarten and I was 4.
Are you still friends with this person today? No, she transferred schools in the first grade and I’ve never kept contact with her since.
Was there a story somebody read or told you that has stuck with you? I loved the book Tikki Tikki Tembo and reread it so many times. The main character’s long name is definitely filed in my head under, ‘things I unnecessarily memorize by heart.’
What is something you get an immense feeling of nostalgia from? Shows or movies from my childhood, like Lizzie McGuire and High School Musical.
As a child, were you a sore loser or a sore winner? I was a sore loser and have still retained elements of it to this day.
Did you go through the "naked phase"? No, I was really shy to be seen naked and even when I was still at that age where someone else had to give me a bath, I already felt conscious and would cover myself up.
Which television shows do you watch the most as a child? When I was a KID kid, I liked watching Hi-5, LazyTown, Art Attack, and Spongebob. As I got older (but still a kid), I took a liking to watching shows meant for older audiences even though I couldn’t always understand the jokes or plots, like Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, Suite Life, etc.
Did you play with siblings, neighbourhood kids or by yourself? I was able to experience all of these.
Is there something you really miss from your childhood today? It’s really just the smaller list of things to worry about. And smaller problems, overall.
Section 2 – Likes and interests
Would you ever like to try competitive pinball playing? No. I don’t even enjoy playing pinball casually, so I don’t see myself taking it up on a competitive level.
Do you knit, crochet or cross stitch? I’ve dabbled in embroidery, if that counts. It’s nice that there are kits available online that already have templates that I’ll just have to trace, since I’m not very creative myself and am not capable of making any artwork from scratch.
Have you ever, or would you like to attend a gaming or comic convention? Yessssss. I’m not a big fan of either, but those conventions have always looked like a ton of fun and I would most likely go so I can view exhibits and look at everyone’s cool cosplays.
What's your opinion on online multiplayer games? I don’t have an opinion on them; I don’t play them, but I don’t have a reason to actively dislike them, either.
Do you like to go cycling? If so, where? I am interested in cycling but I don’t even know how to ride a bike. I know of some friends who’ve been able to bike all the way to Tagaytay and it makes me sooooooooo envious.
Have you ever tried woodturning? If not, would you like to? Maybe not that particular method but I do find wood carving relaxing and would like to try it out sometime.
Do you enjoy drawing? If so, what do you usually draw? I can’t draw at all.
Have you ever attended a painting class? If so, what did you create? I haven’t attended a class but I’ve dabbled in painting, in general – again, mostly through painting kits that already have templates and that already supply me with the colors I need. I’ve never finished any of the images though.
How about a creative writing course? If so, did you get any feedback? I hate creative writing.
What is your favourite form of exercise? The rare times I do work out, I go for HIIT or Tabata exercises.
Section 3 – People
Who is the most important person in your life (besides yourself)? There isn’t one at the moment; I’m really just focusing on myself.
Do people generally approach you easily? I would say it’s 50/50. I’ve heard some people say they find me aloof, while others have no problem coming to me.
Do you get along with people well? If not, what's the problem? Yeah, I would say so. I don’t have bad blood with anyone and if I do it’s always because they’ve already something I didn’t like and I’ve made it a point to ignore them on purpose.
Do you enjoy being in crowds or do you prefer your own company? I can do with both. I treasure my alone time, but I also like being with people and would start to feel sad if I feel like I’ve been isolated for too long.
Which one of your friends have you known the longest? Angela.
Do you find it easy to make friends now? If not, what makes it difficult? I mean I’m in a very active fandom again, for one lol. I think that’s the biggest factor. It’s been SO much easier to find people who are into the same group and strike up conversations with them.
What is something about people that annoys you? I know too many people who always go the extra mile to bash on things that people are into, even though those interests never hurt anyone. It sucks. If you don’t like it just don’t talk about it? Don’t rain on people’s parade.
What is something about people that you really like? When they come together during crises.
If you live alone, what would be your criteria for a roommate? I’d appreciate someone who wasn’t too talkative. Obviously it’s ok to talk, but they don’t have to have a conversation with me every time we’re together. I feel as if I’d quickly grow annoyed with someone who was clingy or too extroverted. Some nice bonuses: If we have the same interests and/or if they know how to cook – I can balance the latter out by doing all the other needed chores.
How about criteria for a spouse, if you're single? I feel like I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel here due to my horrible previous experience...but I’d really just appreciate someone who I know is committed to the relationship and will be willing to go through the ups and downs with me.
In general, what's your attitude towards people? I like to believe everyone is kind unless they give me a reason they aren’t.
Section 4 – Habits
What is something you do every day without fail? Vape.
What is your typical breakfast? Coffee or water, whichever I have time to prepare.
Which article of clothing do you like to wear the most? I stay at home these days because of the c-word, but I mostly wear tank tops these days because the weather is unbelievable.
Is there a TV show you watch habitually? It used to be Friends but I haven’t gone back to it in a while – I haven’t even watched the reunion special yet :/ It also used to be 2 Days 1 Night but I’ve since placed that at the backseat when I started getting into BTS last month.
Where do you usually spend most of your day? In my room since that’s where I work.
Is there a product that you do not want to run out of? Vape pods and 3-in-1 coffee sachets.
What is your preferred mode of transport? My own car.
Do you usually have something playing in the background when you're home? These days I put on a work-themed playlist to keep me company during my shift but if I have to do something that’s thinking-intensive, like writing a press release, I have to switch it off.
Where do you usually get your groceries? I don’t really purchase groceries just yet. My parents switch up the stores they buy from every time.
How often do you go to your local park? We don’t have one.
Which of your hobbies do you indulge in most often? BTS...hahahahaha
Section 5 – Favourites and dislikes
What is your favourite fruit? I don’t like fruits.
How about your favourite berry? I also don’t like berries.
Which food do you highly dislike? Fruits.
What is your favourite song, and why? I don’t have an all-time favorite song but at the moment I would say it’s Butterfly by BTS.
What is a movie you cannot stand? Me Before You was money well-wasted.
Which trait in a person do you find most appealing? Not really a trait but I’m always fascinated to know about people’s hobbies, since I believe it’s able to tell me a lot about them.
Which trait puts you instantly off? How they think about certain socio-political issues.
Who is an actor/actress who you dislike so much you can't watch them? Amber Heard.
What colour are your favourite shoes? All my favorite shoes are white.
What is a smell that disgusts you to no end? Sinigang or rotten eggs and rice.
Which door handle/door knob do you like the most in your home? ??? This is random haha? Door knobs are pretty nasty to begin with, so I’ll just take a pass for this one.
Section 6 – Culture
What is something very typical to the culture of your home country? We’re very hospitable and would do anything to make you feel at home, whether it’s feeding you until feel like throwing up or giving you Tupperware upon Tupperware of leftovers that you can take home so that you won’t have to cook for a few days.
Do you enjoy art? If so, which form of art is the most enjoyable? Yes, I like looking at art and going to museums and exhibits is one of my favorite things to do. As for forms of art, I like paintings the most.
What is something about another country's culture you don't understand? I guess the one where tipping is viewed as an insult.
Do you ever attend the theater? If so, which play did you see last? No, not really my type of art.
How about the opera or the ballet? I love watching ballet shows, but I would quickly grow bored with an opera.
Which dance troupe do you enjoy, if any? None.
Do you attend concerts or gigs? If so, which band did you see last? Only if I really really REALLY like the artist/group. I last saw Paramore.
Are you interested in foreign food? I love them and would be open to trying absolutely anything.
If so, which country's cuisine do you enjoy the most? It’s always a three-way tie among Indian, Thai, and Malaysian.
Do you enjoy stand-up comedy? If so, who is your favourite comic? No.
Do you contribute to culture in some way? If so, how? Not as much as I would want to. I do share some culture-related things on social media to raise awareness for them, especially if I find them fascinating; but I don’t exactly craft anything myself.
Section 7 – Charity
Do you volunteer your time to anything charitable? If so, what? There’s a local organization for stray/injured dogs and cats that I donate to. I’d love to put in some volunteer hours as well but I just don’t have the time. :(
Do you donate money to any charities? If so, which ones? ^ Oh, I guess I should’ve answered that here haha.
If you have pets, are any of them rescues from shelters? Arlee was.
Do you donate your old clothes, linen etc. to charitable organizations? I think my mom sometimes does that with our old clothes but she usually gives them away as hand-me-downs to other relatives.
If someone you know is in need, is it in your nature to offer help? Yes.
Have you ever donated Christmas presents to children of poor families? Not on my own volition but we did this in school before.
Have you ever had to rely on other people's charity? Not that I remember.
How do you feel about donating to charities endorsed by celebrities? I don’t mind it but I think it ultimately depends on the charity that they endorse. For instance I’ve read a lot of problematic sentiments about Susan G. Komen so I always disapprove whenever WWE does their yearly breast cancer awareness thing with them.
Is there a charity you absolutely never ever will not trust? PETA as an annoying one, for one.
Have you ever donated to a cause that had a person going door to door? I don’t think so.
In general, what is your opinion on charity? I support it wholeheartedly if the cause is genuine and not just a money-making scheme or if they are hyper-reactive about certain things.
Section 8 – Entertainment
Which was the very first video game you remember playing? That’s a good question that I don’t actually remember the answer to. Maybe Duck Hunt? I have very vague memories of waking up at my grandma’s place in Tondo and using the Nintendo gun thingy.
Which was the very first film you remember watching? Stuart Little 2.
What is your go-to form of entertainment? These days, BTS content.
Do you have a large collection of DVDs/Blu-Rays? Hahahaha I haven’t bought a DVD in nearly a decade. We haven’t thrown any of our DVDs out so I guess in a sense we still have a collection, but we never pop them on anymore as my family and I usually consume our entertainment online now.
How about music albums? I also haven’t bought an album in the same period of time but I’m starting again because of BTS. I've placed orders for their first five albums/mini-albums and they’re supposed to arrive in the country by July or August, so I can’t wait for that.
Do you prefer to have your music on vinyls, tapes, CDs or digital? CDs or digital would do.
When and where do you like to entertain yourself usually? Either in my room or in the living room, where the big TV is.
Do you ever binge watch shows? If so, what are you binging now? I’ve started on Hwarang but it’s not super bingewatch-worthy, mostly because of how slow I find the pacing to be. Good show, though.
What kinds of books do you like to read, if any? Autobiographies/memoirs.
Is there a book series you're currently collecting? Nope.
Is entertainment something you prefer to enjoy alone or with someone else? It’s always better with somebody else, to be honest.

What do you use the Internet the most for? Working, lol.
Do you judge people who have their phones out all the time? If so, why? No, I’m indifferent about it. I’m pretty attached to my phone too so I get it.
If your connection goes down, what do you do? Turn on my data and continue on with my surfing, albeit feel slightly agitated.
Is there something you wish you could do online that isn't possible yet? I actually feel like there’s always already a website or service for anything I need to do on the internet, which is super convenient. Just last week Kata shared with me a website that’s instantly able to turn any photo into a transparent PNG file, which was awesome to discover.
Do you remember the first time you used the Internet? When was it? Yeah, the first website I ever went to was Friendster in like 2007, at a neighbor’s house that doubled as a small internet cafe.
What was a website you used to frequent that doesn't exist anymore? Multiply.
Do/Did you ever have your own website? No.
Isn't it great how much knowledge and info we have at our fingertips? Sure, but honestly I’m more scared than amazed at how much info is out there, and how much we don’t know is actually out there.
Section 10 – And finally...
What is something you consider to be highly controversial? Bad takes on socio-political issues, like refusing to acknowledge someone’s preferred pronouns or continuing to use someone’s deadname.
What kinds of jokes do you like the best? Idk, it doesn’t take a lot to make me laugh.
Is there a person who makes you laugh effortlessly? These days it’s Jimin lol.
Which part of your body do you like the least? My teeth.
What's something random, out of context you remember from your past? I don’t really feel like racking through my head rn hahaha sorry.

What's the most important thing in your life right now? My job and doing well at it.
What is the most distant point on the planet that you've been from home? South Korea. I haven’t gone too far yet.
Do you enjoy trivia games? If so, which one's your favourite? I love trivia games and I’d join pretty much any of them.
Are you more logical or emotional? Emotional before, but I believe it’s more logical now

5 Things You Should Do If You’ve Been Furloughed
Being furloughed is defined as a “leave of absence” by an employee for reasons usually involving the economic conditions of their employer.
This is not a voluntary move; however, it is often temporary. During this time, the employer can get back on track and have the employee return to work as usual, or the furlough turns permanent.
Unfortunately, this can happen to anyone at any time. As scary as it can be, you can use your time off of work in ways that are productive and useful for you. So, take a breath. It's ok. Everything happens for a reason.
However, you do need a plan to get up and get going again. In furlough situations, it is unknown when you'll be able to get back to work, and depending on your financial situation, you may need to start making some career moves.
The upside to this is that you have the time to do some figuring out for yourself.
Here are some things you should do while you are furloughed:
1 – Optimize Your Current Situation
Unemployment and Aid
First things first, you should optimize the situation you're in.
This means figuring out if you qualify for unemployment benefits (and taking advantage of them if you do), and then figuring out if you still get benefits through your employer. For instance, some companies continue to pay healthcare benefits during furloughs. If you still qualify for these, then make sure you know for how much and for how long.
Earlier this year, assistance was also offered through the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) which provides payments as outlined below:
$1,200 per adult for individuals whose income was less than $99,000 ( or $198,000 for joint filers)
$500 per child under 17 years old – or up to $3,400 for a family of four.
(For social security recipients, the IRS automatically deposited funds based on tax data on those citizens). As a small business owner, you could also apply for the Paycheck Protection Program to help cover payroll expenses. This includes help for self-employed and independent contractors.
As there is a motion to produce a second stimulus package, it is worth watching out for any new changes that may come up as this current pandemic situation extends further into 2020.
Review Your Finances
When you are furloughed, the unpredictability of your work and your paycheck can take a toll on your ability to pay your bills. It is worth taking this time to review your monthly expenses and find areas you can potentially cut back on and save. For instance:
Call your cable/internet provider and ask for deals, or consider canceling altogether (especially cable, you can stream everything online anyway!)
Check your electric and gas usage – are you using more energy during peak hours? Can you cut back?
Speak with your mortgage lender (or landlord for rentals) and see if they have any options to reduce payments during financial hardships. Do the same with your car insurance.
If you invest in the stock market regularly, consider halting those payments, and use that money for bills instead.
If you carry a credit card balance, speak with the company and inquire about a payment program, or a reduced interest rate.
Stop dining out and instead focus on buying groceries and cooking at home (this saves so much money!)
Eliminate or reduce all unnecessary spending. So, no new clothes/shoes/accessories unless absolutely needed.
When you do need to shop, look for deals, use coupons, and take advantage of sales where you can.
Look for Ways to Make Money on the Side
If you're able to, try and find sources of income that you can capitalize on during your furlough period. Some examples include:
Signing up to be an Uber or Lyft driver
Offering your services online as a freelancer (e.g., through Upwork, Fiverr or Care.com)
Selling items around the house you don't use (post to Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, etc.)
Find a gig that allows you to work from home (e.g., for healthcare providers, they can find Telehealth work options). Sites like Indeed, FlexJobs, ZipRecruiter offer postings.
You may not completely cover your expenses with these options; however, it can help offset some costs. And, depending on the work, you may be able to add the experience to your resume! (see below)
2 – Add to Your Skills
As stressful and upsetting as this situation may be, it is also an opportunity to reinvent yourself or pivot into another role that you've been thinking about or aiming for. Everything happens for a reason, and you should take this time to take a chance on yourself.
So ask yourself, do you want to keep doing what you've been doing? If not, what other skills do you have that you can capitalize on? Is there something you'd like to learn that you haven't had a chance to pursue in the past?
If you're interested in classes to learn something new or brush up on some skills, then check out this site for free Ivy League-level classes that you can sign up for. Some allow you to obtain a certificate, but you will have to pay a fee for those.
LinkedIn has free courses as well via LinkedIn Learning. Sign up for a one-month free trial so that you can access their library. Some of them provide tips for interviewing, making an excellent first impression, and body language!
Kahn Academy is another resource you can try. You may have heard of it as a place for school-aged students to get extra learning, tutoring, and exposure to different subjects. However, there are also college and career level courses you can sign up for, plus options for learning about personal finance and developing a growth mindset.
3 – Update Your Resume
Time to bust out your resume and give it an in-depth review. Remove information from it that is no longer relevant, and update information on your current job and skills that you have used and honed over the years.
When updating your resume, don't forget to add your new skills and/or certifications. Also, re-write your introduction with your new career goals in mind. Just because you have been doing one job for so long, doesn't mean you have to continue – especially if its a job that doesn't bring you the fulfillment or satisfaction you're looking for.
Also, if you're considering changing job tracks, or making a career shift, then research typical templates for the new job you're looking for. If you're switching industries, the layout of the resume may need to be different.
For instance, in medicine and healthcare, the layout of our resume (or curriculum vitae) leans towards highlighting academic achievements and research publications. In business, I was always taught to highlight leadership and management experience and skills.
4 – Activate Your Network
Networking is key during this time. Depending on the situation, if people aren't hiring, it takes knowing people and speaking to the right people to find a new position or even have a position created for you.
To give you a unique example, I run a fellowship within my department (I'm an Anesthesiologist) in perioperative management, which means I train individuals on the nuances related to making sure patients are medically optimized before coming in for surgery. One day, a friend of a friend reached out with questions: she works as an Internal Medicine hospitalist but wanted to pursue a different career path.
A lot of her current work involved evaluating patients for Anesthesiologists at her hospital. Given her experience and her interest in the area, I offered for her to apply to my fellowship. After vetting her and speaking with key people in my department, we are going to have her come aboard.
An Internal Medicine doctor employed and trained by an Anesthesiologist is not something you usually hear about; all it took was a phone call from her to get this ball rolling. We are also in a position to offer her this opportunity because of our own needs and protocols we are working to develop. Having someone with her background is invaluable.
I also found out that she's been trying to do something different with her career for YEARS, including shadowing and research in anesthesia. In a round-about way, she built up her experience with anesthesia, and now she's going to get further training with me.
To summarize, it can take quite a bit of networking and asking questions to find the right person to give you the opportunity you are looking for. Sometimes the offer you get is not for a job, but it will provide you with some experience and exposure. I encourage you to explore those options because every bit of knowledge helps. The sooner you get started, the sooner you'll be able to navigate your way towards a path that is uniquely your own.
As this example shows, anything is possible; you just have to ask.
How You Can Get Started
Reach out to your family, friends, or trusted colleagues, and let them know that you are looking into different career avenues, or are wanting to shift. Whenever they send you a name or contact, set up a phone call and speak with them (no texting!).
Also, update your LinkedIn page (or make one if you don't have one), and get a sense of the local opportunities available to you through their search. A simple google search about your area of interest can also bring up information on companies and job opportunities. This is probably the most challenging path to take, but emailing or doing cold calls is also another way to get contacts and build your network.
You can also consider joining interest groups in your area related to your career goals. Many will hold networking events or lectures, where you can meet and greet people doing the same thing you want to do. You never know who you'll run into!
5 – Dedicate Time For Yourself
As I've mentioned above, you should use your free time to optimize, reflect, and network. To take it a step further, I'd also suggest you use this time to reset and catch up on sleep and life.
Spend time with your family, take care of your health (physical and mental), and regain your balance. The stress of the situation can take its toll, especially if you are facing a lot of uncertainty.
It's important to stay positive, keep yourself centered, healthy, and focused so that you can get through this time as effectively as possible, and also plan for the future so that you come out of it prepared for your next phase in life.

sell digital products online
