I forgot to post this yesterday 'cause I got home so late from uni 😭
Yesterday was a pretty tiring, but worth it, day of studying since I missed an entire week of class and had to study all of the content from last week's welding technology class + study from a texbook on science and engineering of materials.
Content studied yesterday:
> Stress-Strain of metals under tension, compression, sheer and torsion tests ;
> Stress-Strain graph (elastic and plastic strain, recognization of ductile and brittle materials, points of elastic limit, yielding, ultimate strength and rupture) ;
> General types of welding ;
> Concepts of welding technology .
My welding technology class went great and I was relieved when I found myself following the explanations with ease and being able to participate because of successful studying and absorption of the last class' content through photos of the board that my classmate sent me. I was really scared I would fall behind but I feel pretty confident and intrigued by the subject and engineering in general... I think like I'm finally falling in love with it!

Welding anon here, I technically didn’t complete the program bc I am missing a single credit, which is fine by me because I ended up switching up and going into agriculture instead, which I am much happier to be in and I just got my degree for it. I don’t regret taking that program because I enjoyed the work (best I can describe it? It was almost like piping a cake) but I was the only girl in the room, not usually a problem for me but the guys didn’t talk to me at all and it was soul crushingly isolating
I always pictured him as a welder bc ye he has massive beefy arms and him being an explosives expert, I could see him enjoying the sparks and the process of creating something durable and strong. Both require a good bit of math, (not to mention shooting math which I still struggle with too) Just seems like a dude who finds fulfillment in difficult, heavy precision work. All those scars on his arms too… yea he’d be a hot welder, all sweaty and bit dirty and smelling like steel. Would make you a welded flower bouquet and it would look immaculate
I did also dabble in wood working (not carpentry. If ur curious I was making bee hives bc I was a bee keeper for a time and my company was so small I had to learn how to do everything) price is so carpenter core. He would smell like freshly cut wood, just a bit smokey and strong. I can just picture saw dust absolutely filling his pockets and trailing it around everywhere by accident. Carpenters always have really calloused, rough, strong hands and that’s just so him. Obsessed with carpenter price ngl.
I’m kinda redneck as fuck and I have the obsessed with being outside flavour of autism. I do have buff arms too 💪 (sorry this is a long ask sorry)
welding anon (or maybe i should just call you buff 💪 anon because hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah) please do not ever apologise for long asks. i love long asks. i cherish long asks. i cherish you for sending me a long ask.
firstly, the guys on your course SUCK for making you feel isolated. i get it on some level as i've been the only non-cis person on-site before. i know i've been lucky as i am technically a plumbing nepo-baby so any other shit has been shut down hard by my mum but more often than not she's the only woman on-site. thankfully she's got something like 40 years experience working with the guys she works with so she knows everyone and their children (and all the gossip, tradies are incorrigible gossips and i love it so much).
secondly, fuck yeah to finding something you love doing! i'm incredibly proud of you for getting your degree! go you! and also you're an incredibly talented multi-skilled individual, be proud of yourself for all the skills you have (welding, woodworking, beekeeping!!!).
thirdly, it's official you've converted me into a welder!soap person. you're absolutely correct. he would love welding. sparks + maths + methodical + challenging = welder!soap. he'd be so cheesy about giving you a metal flower bouquet too. excuse me for a minute while i think about sweaty soap with big beefy arms. oooooh boy 😵💫
finally, you are entirely correct that carpenter!price would smell so good. ugh, the smell of cut wood is addictive and definitely one of my most favourite smells in the world (i am that person that lingers in the timber yard in a B&Q just to get a whiff of the cut pine). carpenter!price would love his sweetheart fussing over his callouses and rubbing hand cream into his hands before bed every night, you can't tell me he wouldn't. i think the fact that he smells so good definitely makes up for the fact that you'd be fishing pencils and sawdust out of his pockets every time you did laundry. plus you'd have the most beautiful kitchen cabinets that are the envy of all your friends just because he wanted to give the kitchen a "spruce up" (side note: never trust a tradie to do their own DIY, you WILL end up living in a half-finished construction site for over 2 years).
#pfh answers#tradie!141#welding/buff anon i am so glad you came back with more thoughts! your thoughts are fantastic!#let me know if you want to claim being an anon if you come back again - i'd love to let you keep a nickname for my blog#jp#jm#damn the johns are really suited to being tradies huh?#love me some tradespeople#or anyone with cool skills

Please remember when using a welder you haven't used before to double check the MIG settings (if using a MIG welder of course)! Setting the voltage too high can burn holes in your metal, yes, but can also cause short circuits if you're unlucky.
#I've accidentally done this a few times#It's a fairly easy fix but is still quite embarrassing nonetheless!#Trying to weld and then all of the sudden half of your home loses power...#My sister yells at me every time#//#Pokemon XY#RP blog#Clemont Pokemon

What are the advantages of using a MIG stick welder for beginners?
When it comes to welding, beginners often face the challenge of choosing the right equipment to start with. One option that stands out is the mig stick welder. This type of welder offers several advantages, especially for those new to the craft. In this article, we'll explore the benefits of using a MIG stick welder for beginners by breaking down the key questions that arise when making this choice.
What Makes a MIG Stick Welder Easy to Use for Beginners?
One of the main reasons why a MIG stick welder is a popular choice among beginners is its ease of use. Unlike other welding methods, MIG welding is semi-automatic, meaning the welder only needs to focus on guiding the torch along the joint. This is particularly beneficial for beginners who may find it challenging to maintain a steady hand or control the arc length. The best mig welders does most of the work, allowing for smoother and more consistent welds. Additionally, the learning curve for MIG welding is relatively short. With a little practice, beginners can quickly get the hang of it and start producing quality welds. This makes the MIG stick welder an ideal choice for those just starting in the world of welding.
Why Is a MIG Welder Gas System Beneficial for Beginners?
Another advantage of using a MIG stick welder is the incorporation of a gas system, specificallymig welder gas. The gas shield helps protect the weld from contaminants in the air, such as oxygen and nitrogen, which can cause porosity and weaken the weld. For beginners, this means that they can achieve cleaner and stronger welds with less effort. The gas system also makes it easier to weld thin materials without burning through them, which is a common challenge for novices. This feature of the MIG stick welder helps build confidence in beginners as they see better results with less trial and error.
How Does the Versatility of MIG Welders Benefit Beginners?
Versatility is another key advantage of MIG welders, including the MIG stick welder. These welders can handle a wide range of materials, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. This flexibility allows beginners to experiment with different metals and learn how to weld various materials without needing to invest in multiple machines. Moreover, many mig welders on sale on the market, such as the Everlast MIG welder, come with adjustable settings that let users fine-tune the welding process according to the material and thickness. This adaptability is crucial for beginners who are still learning the nuances of welding different metals.
Are MIG Welders Cost-Effective for Beginners?
Cost is often a significant consideration for beginners when choosing welding equipment. The good news is that MIG welders on sale are often available at competitive prices, making them an affordable option for those just starting. While the initial investment may be higher than some other welding methods, the long-term benefits, such as ease of use and versatility, make it a cost-effective choice. Additionally, the MIG stick welder is known for its efficiency. The semi-automatic nature of MIG welding means that less time is spent on setup and more on actual welding. This efficiency can translate into cost savings in the long run, as beginners can complete projects faster and with fewer mistakes.
How Does the Availability of Resources Support Beginners Using MIG Stick Welders?
For beginners, access to resources and support is crucial for learning and improving skills. The MIG stick welder is widely used, which means there is a wealth of information available online, including tutorials, forums, and videos. This abundance of resources can help beginners troubleshoot problems, learn new techniques, and get advice from more experienced welders. Furthermore, because everlast mig welder are so popular, finding replacement parts, accessories, and consumables is relatively easy. This availability ensures that beginners can keep their equipment in good working order without too much hassle, allowing them to focus on honing their welding skills.
What Makes MIG Welders a Safer Option for Beginners?
Safety is always a concern for beginners, and the MIG stick welder offers several features that enhance safety during the welding process. For instance, the semi-automatic operation reduces the risk of accidental arc strikes, which can cause burns or damage to the workpiece. Additionally, the gas shielding system helps prevent contamination that could lead to weak welds, reducing the likelihood of structural failures. Many MIG welders also come with built-in safety features, such as thermal overload protection, which automatically shuts off the welder if it overheats. This feature can be particularly beneficial for beginners who may not yet be familiar with the limitations of their equipment.
Why Should Beginners Choose a MIG Stick Welder?
In conclusion, the MIG stick welder offers numerous advantages that make it an excellent choice for beginners. Its ease of use, versatility, cost-effectiveness, and safety features make it a valuable tool for anyone looking to start welding. Additionally, the availability of resources and the benefits of using MIG welder gas systems further enhance the learning experience for novices. Whether you're a hobbyist or someone looking to pursue welding professionally, starting with a MIG stick welder can set you on the right path. With the right equipment and practice, beginners can quickly develop their skills and produce high-quality welds, making the MIG stick welder a top choice for those new to welding.
