After hearing someone talk about the Hunger Games prequel movie a few weeks, I remembered the hunger games simulator and started fooling around with it, until I found one that lets you add as many characters as you want. So, out of boredom, I have decided to present:

I want to clear my thoughts on them so I might as well do it here

Ivy = Weiss and Ruda = Ruby are fairly easy associations to make because those two have a very similar vibe to what a very basic description of the main girls would be. Ivy is sarcastic and snappy, with an air of superiority; Ruda is very enthusiastic and earnest, fretting about her team and wanting to protect them as they protect her. Again, it's a very on-the-surface level of comparison but it works

However, with Roane and Bianca they decided to subvert the expectation one would have in who was who. Roane's semblance has a similar aesthetic to Yang's; Bianca is collected and calm and that's generally how Blake gets characterized as. So one would make this parallels and be done with it.

But no, Bianca is Yang and Roane is Blake.

I have no problem with this (and i'll try to work this one out in a minute), however it does makes me question Ivy and Ruda again too. Why would B & R's associations be more thoughtout than the other two's? One could go with the writers' bias/liking them more than I & R but that feels like a cop-out, so i'm not going to entertain it.

To get back to Bianca and Roane, I am wondering what the deal is. Is it still a very basic parallel or we are digging more into their whole situations? Like does Bianca have mother issues, or abandonment issues, or is it about her being very perceptive and being able to read the room quickly, knowing how to be strategic? About her being assigned a duty to protect her team when she was too young for it, when there should have been someone else guiding her through it, taking some of that burden away from her shoulders? Did she feel like she had to put a brave face on and carry herself as more confident and steady than she feels? Her semblance is one that heavily relies on the people surrounding her to make them her own, even for a small amount of time. Is there a way to connect this back to Yang?

With Roane and her being a Blake, is this about her starting as closed off and then flourishing after finding in her team a safe place to be in, surrounded by people that didn't want to take advantage of her? About her being now part of a community where nobody tries to gaslight her and cut her other connections to isolate her, making her more malleable in these non-specified people's hands? Is this about an instict to run away and still finding her way back, in one way or another? Finally having a solid foundation where she can stand her ground and affirm herself safely, without fear of repercussions?

I don't really know. I definitely have to ponder a bit about this even more but I am wondering how far this is supposed to go.

Which can lead back to Ivy & Ruda... did Ivy grow up in an abusive family, was she isolated and supposed to follow into her family's traditions and she fought back to gain her own individuality, a new family to be in? Is her semblance hereditary? Does she have siblings with which she has a complicated relationship with? Does she look up to someone that was her mentor, idolized them at first but then had to come to terms with their differences & choosing diverging paths in their journeys?

And Ruda, did she feel like she lived in the shadow of someone else, maybe her mother in this case as well? Does she struggle with her identity and with the responsibilities thrusted upon her, when she might not have been prepared for them? Did she have problems reaching out to her teammates when she needed their comfort and support, feeling like she has to uphold a certain level that she doesn't feel like she's up to? Does the weight of her choices keep wearing her down? Has she already gone through her arc and what we see now comes from her having already made clear to the others how she felt and how she didn't feel like she could share her doubts with them, lest they would have thought less of her?

(sighs) I either have thought about them way more than the writers ever did or I'm only now just starting to get their intentions
