Top 5 weird women, ofc
Hell yes!!
Patricia Highsmith - brilliant writer, appallingly horrible person. “There can be little doubt that she was, at best, a challenging woman to be around.” Kept snails in her handbag and took them out at dinner parties.
Katie Brumbach ‘The Great Sandwina’ - circus strongwoman, undefeated wrestler and passionate women’s rights advocate. Chose her stage name after easily besting Eugene Sandow (leading strongman of the era) in a weightlifting competition.
Gertrude Jekyll - landscape architect and horticulturalist. She spread plants by firing seeds from a shotgun.
Sei Shonagon - author of The Pillow Book, a detailed, arch account of her court life in 11th century Japan. Entries include lots of lists, for example: “Adorable Things: the face of a child drawn on a melon. A young Palace page, who is still quite small, walks by in ceremonial costume.”
Alice Roosevelt - Teddy Roosevelt’s oldest kid. She was unapologetically eccentric, had a pet snake called Emily Spinach, smoked opium on a diplomatic mission and buried a voodoo doll of the following First Lady out the front of the White House. TR about her: “I can either run the country or I can attend to Alice, but I cannot possibly do both."
I have so many more but these are a few of my faves.

i dont think fandom people who only think about male characters and only create content for male characters are like horrible misogynists but i do think they often have some shit they need to unpack. like how can you , for example, play life is strange and the only thing you come away with from that is you want nathan and warren to fuck nasty. how can you watch birds of prey, and the only thing you come away with from that is you want roman and victor to fuck nasty......... like idk! idk! i just find it strange especially when people will engage with media Specifically about women and then put no effort in to empathize or care about them, sometimes even going far enough to say they HATE the female characters and that theyre bitches... IDK!!!!

nothing more rage inducing than when ppl present women as perfect beautiful flawless angels who are hairless and graceful and feminine in comparison to men and claim this is why lesbianism makes sense bc of course you'd want to find another beautiful hairless female woman lady. like actually I think women can be whatever and do whatever and as a dyke many dykes I know are hairy weirdo freaks like me and actively rebel Against that beautiful gorgeous angel bullshit but whatever

makes me a little sad when star trek ignores IDIC. like. vulcans are logical. that is true. But 'logical', for vulcans, does not amount to 'without compassion,' and it definitely doesn't amount to 'racial superiority.' Belief in 'infinite diversity in infinite combinations' should NOT result in the weird racist/speciest stuff we're getting in some of the newer treks. It does make sense that some vulcans are discriminatory. They're still flawed. But that should not be common or expected, like it seems to be in SNW. If it is, then it's a race of hypocrites, which. doesn't seem very true to Star Trek's message.
I think TOS Spock does a pretty good job of embodying this. Not always, it was the 60s, after all, but mostly. He was often trying to find non-violent routes, and get by without killing - even if they were in danger or had already been attacked. (See: the mugato, and the horta (until Kirk was the one in danger, lmao. t'hy'la > IDIC), the Gorn ship). Kirk, in his eulogy, calls him the most human soul he's ever known, and I've always read that as Kirk calling out Spock's overwhelming compassion.
It's just so much more interesting when Vulcans get to be radically compassionate. I want them to believe that everything and everyone has value. I want them to respect all ways of being. I want them to find ways for even very non-humanoid aliens to exist unfettered in society. I want them to see hybrids and think that it's amazing. Also, like, disability rep. I want Vulcans to have The Most Accessible Planet and available resources because they want everyone to feel accepted and valued. It makes for better characters and more interesting stories.

I get the good intentions behind it, but something feels off about responding to the observation that white cishet men are becoming radicalized towards racism and misogyny with "maybe you should have been nicer to the men"

I think if you consider yourself someone who genuinely cares about dismantling bioessentalism and the speaking out about harm it does to society you HAVE to acknowledge that bioessentalism is one of the oldest tools in the patriarchy's toolbox and not something twentieth-century TERFs invented

Being transmasc means you will hear people say shit to you with their whole chest that, if they said to a cis woman, would get them on a block list of raging misogynists instantly also you are also on that block list for bringing this up.

Thinking about Weird Barbie and how she's the very obviously queer outsider of the Barbie world, she straddles the lines between Barbie and the Real World. She's the most aware of the performative nature of it all. She supports Barbie while also gently mocking her panic at losing the hyperfeminine perfection. Her weird house is also home to the discontinued reject weird Barbies, the outcasts (including very gay earring Ken) who never fell into either the original matriarchy or the Kentriarchy brainwashing.
The other more classically heteronormative and beautiful Barbies both pity and fear her, and at first the narrative pities her as well. She's the vessel of girls going weird and crazy and feral on their dolls and that's amazing. Weird Barbie is aware of who she is and how the world sees her and she loves it. She's Weird Barbie and She Owns It.
