actually I think the thing about being a youth leader is that 25% of it is teaching about God, 25% is playing fun games, and more than that though 50% of it is making a safe space for kids to be. not to try and make them believe, not so they'll be open or anything. just. a 100% no stakes, safe place for them to just BE. whatever else comes after that. and I don't just mean physically safe, two-adults-in-the-room-at-all-times, et cetera. I mean emotionally safe. I mean not hitting them over the head with scripture, not trying to help them feel better or any particular way. just... a no-judgment, emotionally safe place to exist as kids.

It's a sprint weekend. It's a Friday quali. Sooooo, you know what this means right? It means you give Charles a very good quali. And hopefully help in him achieving a podium this weekend.

So far, he’s gotten 3/3 podium during sprint weekend. Do not. And I mean it. DO NOT ruin his streak of only getting podiums this season during sprint weekends. Well, this is warning for you and the red team whose name I shall not say for they get jinxed pretty easily (idk why and how they do that but they’re very easy to jinx)

the other day i was buying a book i need for reference from barnes and noble, and i saw that they were selling dvds from the criterion collection 50% off too and i was like "i wonder if they have the princess bride in the pretty storybook cover" and they did and i was debating on whether or not to get it and then i remembered that you are my brother in arms in regard to Physical Media like dvds and i was like "you know what. im gonna get it" and i did

I'm going to use "based on" loosely here.

I have read both Masters of the Air and Band of Brothers. Masters of the Air is the superior book there because I'm pretty sure it's mostly historically accurate. I also thought it was better at presenting a more balanced narrative and Miller was more willing to question things that happened during the war.

I've also read a few adjacent memoirs:

A Wing and a Prayer by Harry Crosby

Luck of the Draw by Frank Murphy

Damn Lucky by Kevin Maurer

Of these, A Wing and a Prayer was my favorite. It's a fantastic book. His voice really shines through. I appreciated the last chapter where Crosby talked about the costs of war and explained that he went on to be vocally anti-war along with many other men from the 100th.

All three memoirs were really good though. And each has something unique to offer. I highly recommend all three of them.

I have plans to read some of the Band of Brothers and Pacific memoirs too. Just continuing all the 8th Airforce related books first.

Right now I'm reading books about the airmen who went down and evaded the Nazis through the resistance movements in France and Belgium.

having a bad morning bc i got hit w a hospital bill i cannot afford 😃👍 an entire week after they discharged me too & after they told me i would not need 2 pay anything bc my insurance covered it….suddenly they’re like actually u owe us one thousand dollars 🤭🤭 like WHAT. so now i have 2 spend a few hours making phone calls 2 see if i can get it reduced somehow….

anyway other than that life has been fine november has simply been a busy month schoolwork-wise….2 final papers 2 write over the next few weeks etc…have a job interview tomorrow for a job i really want tho so. wish me luck <3

✨Back Story:

I was saved and accepted Jesus Christ with my mom at the age of 7 and was baptized. Dedicated my life to Him and when I hit around 17, I backslid and turned away from God and indulged in worldly things and sins. No matter how many times we mess up, God is merciful, patient, and forgiving and does not want to see his creation perish. He loves all of His children. I’m almost 30 years old and I’m still trying to get it right. Wake up and choose Jesus every time. I love you all and have a blessed and safe Sunday🫶🏽

This is the day that the Lord has made and I shall rejoice and be glad in it 🙌🏾
