Talking to the Wee Folk In Case They Actually Exist

How do gnomes carry money around and pay for stuff if their so small?

That's a really good question!

First I have to explain that gnomes typically don't live among larger species. This is just one of the many logistical reasons they have their own doll-sized civilizations, because they can use unique doll-sized currency. Other weefolk, like pixies, can use this currency too. This currency doesn't have much--if any--value to larger peoples.

But some gnomes do live among larger species, and these gnomes always have some kind of animal to assist them, called a "familiar". Dogs are most popular familiars, but you might also see gnomes with birds, cats, monkeys, foxes, pigs, and other animals too. They use these animals as transportation, and either train or magically enchant them to do other stuff like move heavy objects, open doors, take money from people, and so on.

These familiars are fitted with bags and bandoliers to carry items that are too big for the gnome to carry. To pay for something with standard gold coins, the gnome reaches into one of these pockets and passes it over a merchant's counter, a few coins at a time. Their familiar might be trained to do this too.

Gnomes can also use paper checks, paper bills, or credit cards in kingdoms that allow it (which isn't many, so gold coins and paper bills remain the most popular way to pay for goods on Looming Gaia).

Draw Every Day - Sketch #31: “In Progress No. 2D”. In further catching up, here’s my sketch from January 31st. I wrapped up last month with more leaf and branch sketching practice. I WAS in the mood for drawing leaves this time and really got into it.
