The expropriation of women: The woman was expropriated from every means of production for millennia, that is, she is not allowed to work, study. For millennia his only exit to survive is beauty; It is a matter of life or death to please the ruling class or what seems most. From there comes her paranoia about her boyfriend; In conclusion, that this behavior will not be eradicated until we extinguish salaried work and all by human right have access to the means of production: Machinary, Land & Freedom for everyone.

Watching a documentary on the Imjin War, where a historian claimed that the Japanese possessed, at the time, the strongest military in the world. I mentally shouted “Weeb!” at my screen and made a mental list of “countries” that would have given the Japanese a run for their money… in no certain order:
Hapsburg Spain
Hapsburg Austria
Bourbon France
The Dutch
The Ottomans
The Safavids
The Mughals
And to be completely honest the Japanese never conquered Korea, and while the Ming were in decline, the Manchus that followed them were the dominant military power in China till the 19th Century… feel free to add to this list.

Day 6: The Silent World of GL
Here we are, on day six of Niji Nights. We have done a lot of talking about boys love so far and only briefly mentioned girls love. Star and I tend to feel like in comparison to BL, GL often doesn’t get the same love and appreciation these days. There was a period in anime where BL and BL coded shows were norm, but during those years it felt GL was at a standstill. However, in recent years, Star…

Could you please do Kirby head cannons :)
Kirby! Kirby Kirby Kirby. oh boy, this boy. I need to shake him around like a rubber chicken. ahems.
Kirby Olsen 🍰
wow this kid is a Loser
he's definitely compensating for a lotta shit
for one his dad is a professional baker
he's ashamed of it for misogyny reasons, to the point of becoming fixated on it via 'Poundcake'
its so ingrained he projects his disdain onto most chefs in general, such as edna (though thats deserved tbh)
this has also regrettably affected his eating habits. god forbid anyone sees him eating something with sugar
he was actually pretty happy to bake with his dad in like elementary before he really got into sports
his home life is generally good he's just immensely pressured to Man Up because of people like Burton
he's also christian. This Doesnt Help.
his self esteem is frankly in the Gutter but he'll kill anyone if they find that out.
anyway coughs. gym rat
his sexuality and enthusiasm for sports goes hand in hand
the sooner he embraces it, the better. unfortunately bullworth isnt the greatest environment for that.
he envies trent greatly because of how he just rolls with it.
(among other reasons)
anyway despite everything he's still got his sweet spots at heart
might even be a bit of a weeb (fullmetal alchemist, princess mononoke)
definitely screamed bloody murder when somebody walked in on him watching tv at least once
somebody get this kid a fursona he feels like a pomeranian
EDIT: i'm not done lol
this boy has a deviantart And a newgrounds account (but hes more active on the former)
what does he post? some sonic fanart, some warrior cats. and some other things deviantart is famous for.
he's completely disowned that pink ball bitch that shares his name though and any reference to it sends him into a fit
he very much has a secret love of nightcore and those rave dance animations. and hes actually made some of his own in flipnote on his ds
of course nobody knows about this and nobody Can know about it
(maybe trent does)
the boy loves to vibe he loves to jam and groove
at one point he convinced either the jocks or the bullies to kick all the nerds out of the arcade so he can go ham on dance dance revolution
this especially pisses off earnest
anyway he likes metal gear solid
ty for the ask! sorry if this got a lil rambly sdnfjksdnfjks
Requests are still Open!

returning for more book recs cause I eat your recommendations up like communion bread in an attempt to save me
Be saved my child
Also I’m going to deviate from the norm and recommend some manga, please don’t draw and quarter me I was a weeb in a past life
Paint the Wind by Pam Muñoz Ryan is a relatively easy book to read that nonetheless made me cry several times as a child. After the sudden death of her domineering grandmother, a young girl discovers she has family raising horses in the west, which she has always dreamed of.
A Bride’s Story by Kaoru Mori is a slice of life historical epic centered around both the daily life and marriage practices of Turkic Central Asia. This manga is meticulously researched and FABULOUSLY drawn. Mori is the kind of artist you only see once in a generation. I worship at her feet.
Emma also by Kaoru Mori is another work of historical fiction, this time set in England during the late Victorian period (my beloved). It follows a maid who falls in love with the son of a social climbing nouveau riche family, interspersed again with depictions of daily life of the time period.
The Right to Sex by Amia Srinivasan is a collection of feminist essays that follow the rise and dispersion of the incel movement, particularly the multi murder-suicide of Elliot Rodger. Amia explores the sexual expectations of heterosexual culture and interrogates the scripts set up that facilitate it. General trigger warning for discussions of rape and misogyny.
Second Place by Rachel Cusk is a short work of lit fic about a woman’s emotional affair with an artist who hates her. That’s kind of the best way I can describe it but it’s also about motherhood, marriage, solitude, loneliness, Covid lockdown (tangentially), and old age. The narrator invites a painter she admires to take residence in a cottage on her property for a season, and things don’t go well.
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong is part memoir part letter to his mother reminiscing on the childhood he shared with her. Ocean’s mother cannot read, and thus this letter divulges far more about Ocean’s life than he might ever actually tell her. He relates his experience growing up in poverty as a gay Vietnamese immigrant with two women marked permanently by the aftereffects of the Vietnam war.
Time Is a Mother by Ocean Vuong is his second poetry collection which follows the death of his mother. Vuong explores the relationship of writing and grief, and honestly I have a hard time summarizing any poetry collection because I’m only an amateur poetry enthusiast. Amazon History of a Former Nail Salon Worker and Dear T hit especially hard if you’ve read the book I recommend above.
Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson is a novel in verse reimagining the myth of Geryon and Hercules as the bildungsroman of Geryon, who falls in love, or the closest thing to it, with Hercules as a young man and meets him later in life only to be disillusioned about who he’s become. Not to be irreverent but this is the best mslash lovers to strangers fanfictiony Greek retelling I’ve ever read. Song of Achilles eat your heart out. (I’m reading the “sequel” red doc> right now but I’m not finished with it yet.)
A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers on the surface is a solarpunk novella set on a world fully recovered from its Industrial Revolution, but in actuality it explores dissatisfaction with life even in the closest thing we could ever get to a utopia. A monk named Dex realizes they are no longer happy in their profession and strikes out to serve tea in the countryside, and meets a robot from the forest who wants to know if humanity needs anything. A very kind book.
I have a few others in mind but I want to recommend them specifically alongside various fic series. Hope you enjoy these!

What is this another Weeb Wednesday and I am going to bring up an isekai, how can this be?   You might remember that I said the last isekai was the second gayest anime of the season only losing to golf, but this came out after. So we have the gays and you know what is next? Magical girls! I still have not run out of them, yet. But what anime can out gay gay golf? One that speed runs the “is it yuri or is it bait” question in two episodes. Be warned though it is a mouthful: The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady or TMRotRPatG for short, or MagiRevo for even shorter that you can actually say. Really there are plenty of ways that I can explain how gay gay very gay gay gay homosexual gay it is with just four images and text (from /r/Animemes).
Tumblr media
In the first episode the main character Anisphia "Anis" Wynn Palettia crashes a party her brother is having, she steals her brother’s soon to be ex-fiancé Euphyllia "Euphy'' Magenta, decides it is in everyone’s best interest to keep her, and the two end up in bed. I mean there is other things about the fact that Anisphia is a princess who cannot use magic so is creating her own system of magic, that Euphyllia is a genius (and turns out to be a bigger switch that at first glance), also there is maids and a lesbian vampire. This anime is gay, and I think that the anime actually did the light novel justice and might have made it moar gay. Also a deep story about what is needed to be a ruler of a country and if someone is willing to give up what they want for others. Also again a lesbian vampire, who yes is not a big stompy dommy mommy but still should be called out.
PS. Yes I am doing my part to keep Weeb Wednesday gay. For the children.

AEW Grand Slam 2/15/25
Okay, I got a little spoiled for a couple of things, but it's only got me more hype
Aww Fletcher and Takeshita look like comic book villains, good for them
BRUV AND WEEB HERE WE GOOOO
I love this big fucking nerd so much, god I have missed him
OSPREAY DOING THE TERMINATOR CLAPS
These chops I'm dying, Ospreay just did a little dance
EVERYONE IS SO LARGE AND FAST AND STRONG
HIDDEN BLADE ONE WINGED ANGEL COMBO RRRRRRR
HARLEY IN A FUZZY HEART JACKET
Ooh please tell me Mercedes is wearing snake gear in honor of Austalia's reptiles
MUPPET
Oh my god what if muppets become Harley's Mister Socko
I am aggressively showing a gif of the muppet stone and kick to @lurkz and @weareallkosh
Harley's gear looks so good. Like, Jem and the Holograms inspired
Aaa Harley looked so good! I figured this would happen, but also I feel like her character builds better with this loss. She's the underdog we're going to see grow, and we saw a taste of what that future is going to look like.
YEAAAAH KENNY VS SOUP AT REVOLUTION
STEEL CAGE AAAAAAH
Okay, probable blood time!
I just felt such fondness for Cope. Also my edible kicked in.
Oh no they sang and I cried
Oooooooh my god that's an Astartes helmet mask, I'm dying
LOL SCHIAVONE GOT SO MAD WHEN NIGEL SAID KOALAS HAVE CHLAMIDYA
Holy fuck the swing into the trash can
YUTA YOU LITTLE SHIT
Huh, less blood than I thought
Ooh, Buddy looks good
Okay, the lasers have been great
Oh for a second I hoped they would let Buddy say cunt
BUDDY KICKED OUT!!!
That was fun. Buddy looked fantastic and Trollkada is in full effect.
ORANGE RETURN WEDNESDAY
WOMEN MAIN EVENT
I know Mariah's gear is probably just cotton candy colors but I choose to believe it's the trans flag
LUTHER. TONI.
"Luther, trying to give Toni Storm the clap--" NIGEL
Butler Luther, you are a treasure
TONI KICKING OUT
Mariah with that kiss of death BUT WHOSE
HERS ACTUALLY
Also someone mentioned it and the blue velvet gear has to be a Lynch reference, right?

seasonal anime: Mahō Shōjo Magical Destroyers
This one's an odd one.
I think the best place to begin with this one is... here's some lines from the sub. The official sub, from Crunchyroll (I think).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for this particular show, subtitling with imageboard memes seems actually quite appropriate. But it's still so weird to see memesubs go official! It reads like a fansub!
As for the show itself... it's odd. I watched it pretty much entirely on the strength of the OP, which has both some lovely animation cuts including a little Weilin Zhang. Nobody figured out who did the car still. But where it really caught my attention is the glitched out second half that looks somewhere between SBAHJ and trans girl aesthetics. Here's a taste:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on that I expected something in the vein of Madoka, playing around with the form. Well, it's not that! Still trying to put my finger on what exactly it is.
I think I broadly I get what it's going for, sending up genre tropes and invoking various flavours of otaku subculture stuff with a really modern reference pool. And I appreciate that it's willing to go weird with it; episode 2 for example has a surreal battle on a drug induced psychic plane and they are willing to get quite experimental with the imagery (also obligatory EoE nod)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The henshin sequences likewise go pretty hard! Blue, the sex/masochism themed one in particular, gets her brain corkscrewed out and turned into a weapon. Lots of blink-and-you-miss-it stuff in all three.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's other cute visual ideas riffing on the otaku theme; e.g. in episode 3, a mech is assembled like a model kit from a sprue by giant hands.
Tumblr media
Or places where it's like... oh huh you went there then? It really foregrounds sexuality, playing it mostly for jokes but also like...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't even the first time one of the characters has ended up in shibari and he stays that way for the rest of the episode.
Anyway, the story turned out to be about an alternate future where otakus become an oppressed class who are caged by the government; protagonist 'otaku hero' leads an otaku revolution, although he's more of a comic relief guy beside the three magical girls. The sort of mocking but affectionate sendup of otaku stuff feels sort of like 'what if you made Otaku no Video, 30 years on'.
So I respect its ambition! It certainly feels different.
Alas I don't think it quite comes together. The pace is pretty breakneck, but it's not so infectiously energetic as something like Kill La Kill, which is an obvious point of comparison - but then not many people can match Imaishi! Visually, the show proper is kinda rough, and inevitably falls short of the level set by its OP/ED. The story is way too overtly ironic to get seriously invested in, so you're mostly there for the jokes, which are pretty hit and miss (a lot of them are just 'haha, sex' or 'look, otaku thing'), but also it's paced so fast that they don't all have to stick.
It's a bit of a headscratcher honestly. I'm mostly still watching out of curiosity to see what they're doing with all this. It feels like there's several seeds of something in this mix; whether it will grow I can't tell.
Come to think of it, if it reminds me of anything, it's OtakuVs, the surprisingly high-effort anime comedy web series by some American weebs. The pace, tone, and sense of humour are remarkably similar. I'm probably missing some kind of precursor to both that explains it. Maybe it was poptepipic all along!

more p5 ranting
Unless Persona overhauls it's writing team I don't think it's going to get much better. P5 clearly shows that their writing team is filled with conservative middle aged men who are trying to make a story that appeals yo the youths and have no clue what they are doing. They try to ape the aesthetics of social justice and progressive politics without ever actually engaging in the concepts. Despite wanting to write a story about the underdogs and marginalized in society there aren't a lot of marginalized characters and the writers fail to engage with the stories of those that are. They are so busy making Joke a self insert cishet male power fantasy that there aren't really any of the usual social stigma consequences usually associated with an arrest and conviction just some flavor text in the begining. One of the things I was alluding to above is that the social consequences of being a blond white girl in Japan are dealt with way better with Lisa in 1999 than Ann in 2016 despite having similar character setups. We really get to see how everyone judges Lisa based on her appearance like assuming she speaks English and how she fights to assert her identity by picking up cantonese and clinging to the one guy who saw her as she is. How even though she spent her whole life in Japan and knows nothing else and her weeb dad raised her as a Japanese girl, she's never been accepted. P5 never goes into how Ryuji is from a single parent household and the stigma of it instead making him a archetypal best friend meathead. Despite yapping on and on about social rebellion and revolution P5 fails to have an actually revolutionary character like a queer character or the child of undocumented immigrants. P5 boils down complex social problems into generational conflict (kids rule adults suck) which hides the actual social problems that transcend age. They talk about social rebellion and try to make it the main theme.while having no actual social rebellion in the game.

You know the whole 'Hi we have the cure for cancer but we're not going to share it with the world' awful, literally. Mythos thing about Wakanda made notice something
The cure was cancer was definitely not a silver age thing
It stated Kirby made Wakanda (though their advance technology was a later on addition) because he was tired of poverty porn Africa
And Wakanda xenophobia was acknowledged, because I learn there a page in a silver age comic where an African American character went “what’s up brother!” to a Wakandan
And the Wakandan him a “mute”
Now here my theory because when your…ancestors went to Europe for the world wars
Actually I think a lot of white Americans (especially poor ones) had a fetishized view of Europe. And they probably had they until WW1 where many had a one in a lifetime experience to meet Europeans
Then the Europeans immediately pointed out that Americans are foreign to Europe as a Chinese person.
Which definitely broke the illusion of Europe and lead to our modern American identity
Make sense?
So sliver writers probably took that account with doing black panther Mythos
Now the cure for cancer thing, oh I got my suspicions but I think older comic readers can help
But in the 00’s there was two black writers one named Houdini and the other Christopher Priest
Now I vauge on Houdini, but him and priest had that “WE WUZ KINGS” mindset
So they pushed the advance Wakanda shit…while saying that it’s a okay that Wakanda is xenophobic as fuck.
Actually I’m going to do a part to, but I notice something with black Americans writers when they get their hands on stuff.
Oh btw for Priest, well MCU Wakanda was heavily based off his run….
But Priest and the creator of boondocks had a falling out
To the point McGrunder took a piss out of him in a boondocks episode
Oh, priest had black panther beat silver surfer by using a wrestling move….so you can guess his mindset….Im not better with some crazy shit he tried to pull at dc in the 2010’s…no sir ree…
Actually I think a lot of white Americans (especially poor ones) had a fetishized view of Europe. And they probably had they until WW1 where many had a one in a lifetime experience to meet Europeans Then the Europeans immediately pointed out that Americans are foreign to Europe as a Chinese person. Which definitely broke the illusion of Europe and lead to our modern American identity
Never thought about it that way, though there is a lot of genetic memory in Americans we have tried to keep where we came from with ourselves to a degree, or at least some of us do.
Go find the local Greek community or little Saigon, Chinatown, Little Italy, and so on.
(relevant tangent time)
Guy named Andrew Doro (looked it up) made a splash several years back by chronicling his journey to eat food from every country in the world without leaving NYC, got his blog, and IG, looks like he's still going most recent post is from 5 days ago.
Older interview here
Not something you can do in Billings Montana but it's a cool project.
But ya some of us have done our best to keep the "old world" alive in our new home, you also get the families that came over and assimilated themselves forcibly.
Or you get mutts like me who's family roots go back before the revolution in some parts and while I know what my DNA says I also know that I'm American and not Irish or German.
Probably a good deal of what you were talking about going on in the aftermath of WW1 and 2 for sure, GI's staged in England before D-Day which was close enough to the US to not throw them but I'm sure folks had some culture shocks seeing the "old world" first hand.
We also can't forget
Tumblr media
I imagine some weebs have a similar experience.
As for the comic stuff I am not well enough versed in those to even say which is golden or silver age, I just recall that there was a deal with them holding on to the cure for cancer.
Mostly brought up when you'd get people talking about how great Wakanda was and their only experience was MCU, which is lots of people for lots of the characters in the MCU.
Had someone spouting off that Captain America wouldn't use guns, just his shield like steven universe, double dumb because he was shown using guns in The First Avenger.
But I'm sure I have a fair number of followers that will have the information on that and hopefully one or more of them adds it here or if they want to send it as a ask that works too.
Honestly my biggest issue with MCU BP was people thinking that either Wakanda was real or it's what Africa would have been like if not for colonialism.
Which both things are insane just for different reasons.
