Sangeet Night

A Sangeet ceremony is an important part of Indian weddings – it’s like a pre-wedding reception where friends and family ceremonially welcome the couple into their lives and wish them the best for their future. This welcoming celebration often includes lots of dancing and music, religious traditions, ethnic games, ceremonial attires, delicious food, and more! A typical Sangeet ceremony involves music and dancing, typically in the form of a dance-off between the bride and groom’s families. There are also religious rituals such as a havan or puja to bless the couple and their upcoming union, as well as traditional games they can engage in together. The dress code is usually festive – bright colors and traditional sarees or lenghas for women, while men usually wear kurtas or Sherwanis.

Wedding mood board - I'm so excited about your match (fic)

JaneAreader_5 on AO3 suggested I share pictures of the outfits I am describing in my fic I'm so excited about your match. I thought that was a great idea and decided to make a mood board for the different settings. This is the one I made for how I envisioned the wedding between Kate and Anthony. Kate's hair would be down and her dress (top) would be sleeveless. Anthony's tie would be in the same shade of burgundy as Kate's dress. The venue would feature lots of flowers and candles.

I enjoyed making this, I hope it helps you envision and enjoy the fic much more!

Haldi Ceremony

The Haldi Ceremony is a pre-wedding ceremony performed a day or two before the wedding. Family members and friends playfully slather the bride and groom in a paste of turmeric, oil, and milk. In some customs, sandalwood, rose water, and gram flour are also mixed in the paste. The atmosphere is fun, lively, and filled with camaraderie. In Indian customs, turmeric's bright yellow colour is highly auspicious. The couple, who are beginning their new life together, is blessed with prosperity thanks to the good fortune of this element and its colour. For this reason, the groom and bride wear yellow attire for their wedding haldi ceremony. In addition to its ability to beautify, purify, and detoxify, haldi is also thought to lessen some of the anxiety that the bride and groom experience. Turmeric contains an antioxidant called curcumin, which has been shown to have mild antidepressant and headache-relieving properties.
