10 Principles for Website Renovation | Ennoble Technologies
Having a website has now become a necessity. It is one of the easy-to-access and powerful leverages that could be used to achieve higher market goals and cut yourself from the competition. Your website shows your online presence, and it’s often where customers first connect with a business or individuals. Whether you own a small business or make a living as a blogger, you must ensure your website is up-to-date and user-friendly. In this article, we’ll discuss 10 principles for website renovation that are key considerations for revitalizing your online presence.
10 Principles to Consider for Website Renovation
A website is certainly a powerful and essential tool that showcases your products, services, or content. However, if it is slow, old, and not friendly, you could lose many potential customers or audiences.
Set Goals
Being specific about your goals helps you define what you want to achieve. It can be related to your website’s design, functionality, user experience, or business objectives. Some examples of rebuilding your website include increasing website traffic, sales, or leads. In addition, they include improving the engagement of users, making it more accessible, or updating website content.
Know Your Audience
You need to know who your majority audience is to understand their needs or expectations. Your website should be designed keeping your target audience in mind to ensure it is engaging, user-friendly, and provides what they need. For example, use vibrant colors and modern design elements if you are targeting young adults.
Create a Responsive Website
Responsive websites adjust to different screen sizes, such as desktops, tablets, and smartphones. Having a responsive website is essential because most people use the internet on mobile devices. And if yours doesn’t fit properly on the users’ screen, it can create problems accessing and reading the content.
Focus on User Experience
User experience (UX) determines whether visitors stay or leave. A website with good UX is easy to use, appears attractive, and doesn’t irritate users. There are various methods, including improving website navigation, using clear and concise language, creating a good menu bar, focusing on relevant images, etc. It would make the platform easy to use and understand.
Conduct a Content Audit
By auditing your content, you can check if it is outdated or irrelevant, and update or remove it. In addition, it helps identify gaps so you can create relevant content accordingly. You can seek help from tools such as Google Analytics to do a content audit. You can check how engaging they are and decide whether they need updating or removing.
Add social media
Social media integration allows visitors to connect with you and share your content on social platforms. However, increasing social signals also improve your website’s SEO. Adding social media icons or embedding social media feeds are some of the best ways to do so. You may include your social profiles in the header or footer to let visitors follow the brand on those platforms.

Understanding the Power of White Space in Web Design
In today's world, where users have a low attention span, a well-designed website can make all the difference in attracting and retaining customers. A critical aspect of web design in Perth that plays a crucial role is white space, also known as negative space.
In this blog post, we'll discuss the benefits, principles, and effective use of white space in the web design of Perth, along with its benefits, types and common mistakes to avoid.
Definition of White Space
White space refers to the space between and around design elements on a web page. This space can be any colour, not necessarily white. Web design company in Perth and worldwide use it to separate content, create contrast, and provide breathing room for the design elements to stand out.
Benefits of White Space, or Negative Space
White space is the empty area between and around design elements on a web page. While it may seem counterintuitive to include empty space, white space is critical to effective web design in Perth.
The following are the benefits of white space in web design-
● Visual Breathing Room: One of the primary benefits of white space is that it provides visible breathing room for the design elements on a page. Without adequate white space, a web page can feel cluttered and overwhelming, making it difficult for users to focus on the content. Using white space to create separation between different design elements, designers can create a visually balanced and aesthetically pleasing design.
● Improved Readability: White space can also enhance the readability of the content on a web design of Perth. By increasing the spacing between letters, words, and lines, designers can make it easier for users to read and comprehend the content. Studies have shown that increasing a web page's line spacing and margins can improve reading speed and comprehension.
● Emphasis and Hierarchy: White space can create emphasis and hierarchy among design elements. By varying the space between different components, designers can draw attention to essential parts of a web page and complete a clear visual order. For example, using larger white space around a headline or call-to-action button can make it stand out and encourage users to take action.
● Enhanced User Experience: White space can significantly enhance the user experience of a website. By creating a sense of clarity and ease of use, white space can make a website more user-friendly and intuitive. In addition, using white space to create a sense of professionalism and sophistication can help establish trust with users and encourage them to engage more deeply with the content.
● Elegance and Sophistication: Finally, effective use of white space can give a website a sense of dignity, sophistication, and minimalism. By using white space to create a clean and uncluttered design, designers can convey a sense of refinement and taste that can appeal to users.
Types of White Space
There are three types of white space in the web design of Perth-
● Macro White Space: The space between significant design elements such as images, sections, and columns.
● Micro White Space: The space between smaller design elements such as letters, words, and lines.
● Intentional White Space: This is the white space used to create a deliberate effect, such as a minimalist design.
Principles of Using White Space
The web designers state multiple ways to use the white space in web design effectively involves the following principles-
● Balance: Proper use of white space involves balancing the positive space (the design elements) and the negative space (the white space) to create a harmonious design.
● Visual Hierarchy: White space can create a visual hierarchy among different design elements by varying the space between them.
● Typography and Colour: Proper use of typography and colour can enhance the readability and aesthetic appeal of the design.
● Consistency: Consistency is vital to maintain throughout the design, to create a cohesive and professional look.
Common Mistakes in Using White Space
While white space is an essential aspect of web design in Perth,
there are also common mistakes that designers should avoid-
● Not Using Enough White Space: Not using enough white space can result in a cluttered design that is hard to read and visually unappealing.
● Using Too Much White Space: Too much white space can make a website look empty and uninteresting. It can also make the design feel unbalanced and lacking in content.
● Inconsistent Spacing: Spacing between design elements can create a disjointed and confusing user experience.
● Not Considering the Overall Balance and Harmony of the Design: Focusing solely on the white space without considering the overall balance and harmony of the design can lead to a design that feels disjointed and unprofessional.
Tools and Resources for Using White Space
Make My Website, the best web design company in Perth, uses various tools and resources to help them effectively use white space in their designs.
Here are a few popular ones-
● Adobe Creative Cloud: Adobe Creative Cloud is a suite of design tools that includes Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, popular software programs used for web design in Perth.
● Sketch: A popular vector graphics editor for creating digital designs for websites and mobile apps.
● Canva: Canva is a graphic design platform allowing users to create professional-looking designs quickly and easily, even without prior design experience.
Concluding Words
White space is a powerful tool for the web design in Geelong that can significantly enhance a website's user experience and aesthetic appeal. By using white space effectively, designers can create a website that is easy to navigate, visually appealing, and professional-looking. It is important to remember the principles of white space, avoid common mistakes, and use appropriate tools and resources to create a successful design. since i talk about work but don't actually plug my own shit: hi, i work for object lover, a trans owned and operated home decor maker focused on making objects for joyful, colorful living. if you're interested in supporting queer creators, this post is for you!
we have almost universally positive reviews, but struggle w/sales bc of low visibility. our labor is all shared, and for 3 years every employee, incl. the founder & designer ( 11 total at one time or another! ) has been paid equally.
it feels a little bit gauche, in this time of incipient genocide, to say "buy our stuff!" but even just checking out our website or reblogging this post is materially supporting trans women in central texas, & i think if you do you'll fall in love with our work. we make home goods and decor, including side tables—the first 3d printed furniture!—plant stands and planters, and jewelry trays.
here's a couple pics of my favorite items; a link'll follow in the reblogs because i think maybe we're still in the world of tumblr where links in the main post get eaten? reblog that one, please!
as a side note, we keep our prices as low as we possibly can and still keep the lights on; our margins are very low. but one of our guiding principles is that beautiful, joyous home decor shouldn't be financially out of reach, esp. to queer ppl. we run sales as often as we possibly can, but if our work is still inaccessible to you i'm happy to provide coupon codes to anyone who dms me

So, you want to make a TTRPG…
Image from Pexels.
I made a post a long while back about what advice you would give to new designers. My opinions have changed somewhat on what I think beginners should start with (I originally talked about probability) but I thought it might be useful to provide some resources for designers, new and established, that I've come across or been told about. Any additions to these in reblogs are much appreciated!
This is going to be a long post, so I'll continue beneath the cut.
SRDs
So, you have an idea for a type of game you want to play, and you've decided you want to make it yourself. Fantastic! The problem is, you're not sure where to start. That's where System Reference Documents (SRDs) can come in handy. There are a lot of games out there, and a lot of mechanical systems designed for those games. Using one of these as a basis can massively accelerate and smooth the process of designing your game. I came across a database of a bunch of SRDs (including the licenses you should adhere to when using them) a while back, I think from someone mentioning it on Tumblr or Discord.
SRDs Database
Probability
So, you have a basic system but want to tweak it to work better with the vision you have for the game. If you're using dice, this is where you might want to consider probability. Not every game needs this step, but it's worth checking that the numbers tell the story you're trying to tell with your game. For this, I'll link the site I did in that first post, AnyDice. It allows you to do a lot of mathematical calculations using dice, and see the probability distribution that results for each. There's documentation that explains how to use it, though it does take practice.
AnyDice
Playtesting
So you've written the rules of your game and want to playtest it but can't convince any of your friends to give it a try. Enter Quest Check. Quest Check is a website created by Trekiros for connecting potential playtesters to designers. I can't speak to how effective it is (I've yet to use it myself) but it's great that a resource like it exists. There's a video he made about the site, and the site can be found here:
Quest Check
Graphic Design and Art
Game is written and tested? You can publish it as-is, or you can make it look cool with graphics and design. This is by no means an essential step, but is useful if you want to get eyes on it. I've got a few links for this. First off, design principles:
Design Cheatsheet
Secondly, art. I would encourage budding designers to avoid AI imagery. You'll be surprised how good you can make your game look with only shapes and lines, even if you aren't confident in your own artistic ability. As another option, public domain art is plentiful, and is fairly easy to find! I've compiled a few links to compilations of public domain art sources here (be sure to check the filters to ensure it's public domain):
Public Domain Sources 1
Public Domain Sources 2
You can also make use of free stock image sites like Pexels or Pixabay (Pixabay can filter by vector graphics, but has recently become much more clogged with AI imagery, though you can filter out most of it, providing it's tagged correctly).
Pexels
Pixabay
Fonts
Turns out I've collected a lot of resources. When publishing, it's important to bear in mind what you use has to be licensed for commercial use if you plan to sell your game. One place this can slip through is fonts. Enter, my saviour (and eternal time sink), Google Fonts. The Open Font License (OFL) has minimal restrictions for what you can do with it, and most fonts here are available under it:
Google Fonts
Publishing
So, game is designed, written, and formatted. Publishing time! There are two places that I go to to publish my work: itch.io and DriveThruRPG. For beginners I would recommend itch - there's less hoops to jump through and you take a much better cut of what you sell your games for, but DriveThruRPG has its own merits (@theresattrpgforthat made great posts here and here for discovering games on each). Itch in particular has regular game jams to take part in to inspire new games. I'll link both sites:
itch.io
DriveThruRPG
Finally, a bunch of other links I wasn't sure where to put, along with a very brief summary of what they are.
Affinity Suite, the programs I use for all my layout and designing. Has an up-front cost to buy but no subscriptions, and has a month-long free trial for each.
Affinity Suite
A database of designers to be inspired by or work with. Bear in mind that people should be paid for their work and their time should be respected.
Designer Directory
An absolute behemoth list of resources for TTRPG creators:
Massive Resources List
A site to make mockups of products, should you decide to go that route:
Mockup Selection
A guide to making published documents accessible to those with visual impairments:
Visual Impairment Guidelines
A post from @theresattrpgforthat about newsletters:
Newsletter Post
Rascal News, a great place to hear about what's going on in the wider TTRPG world:
Rascal News
Lastly, two UK-specific links for those based here, like me:
A list of conventions in the UK & Ireland:
Convention List
A link to the UK Tabletop Industry Network (@uktabletopindustrynetwork) Discord where you can chat with fellow UK-based designers:
TIN Discord
That's all I've got! Feel free to reblog if you have more stuff people might find useful (I almost certainly will be)!

Quick FAQ on Tumblr, "Value", and the Proposed Crab Day
Motivation: I see a lot of misinformation circulating on the dash re the proposed crab day and I wanted to offer a simplified and judgement free perspective using core principles of finance.
Q: We keep being told that tumblr's been making nothing but a loss for years, and yet, if it is so unprofitable, then why is no one is shutting the website down? Is it really in need of our money if it's already owned by a multi-billion dollar corporation?
This is in fact not as much of a paradox as it appears to be because "value" in corporate finance terms is a function of present and expected future profits (adjusting for the fact that profits you expect to be earn in the near future are worth a lot more than equivalent profits expected to be earned much later in time).
This means that you can have a company or a product that is currently making a loss (i.e. costing a lot more to run than the income it generates) and it might still be worth some (or a lot of) money as long as you expect it to generate enough profits going forward. Uber for example has been making a loss for years and is still valued at billions of dollars because people think it will eventually generate a lot of profit.
Q: What does all of that mean for tumblr, specifically?
Given how unprofitable tumblr has been historically it's actually a pretty good sign that management has a plan to try and make it profitable because it means they haven't thrown in the towel yet!
But if they fail or if they decide that no matter what they do tumblr will remain unprofitable, then they wouldn't have much business incentive to keep running it. This is why participating in crab day or spending some money on tumblr in general is a good idea, if you can afford it and if tumblr is a service you would like to keep enjoying into the future. And if the answer is no to either of those questions, that's ok too--don't let anyone guilt you on this.
Even more questions-and-answers under the cut! My inbox is also open for any (good faith) questions you might have.
Q: But we all use tumblr religiously--isn't that enough?
Not quite. Tumblr's current state means that the existing userbase is not enough to make the site profitable. For that to change, either the existing userbase needs to become more profitable, or tumblr needs to get a lot more new users--or have a combination of both.
Q: Can crab day really solve all this?
Once again, not quite. A one time cash-injection is not equal to sustainable income, which is what tumblr ultimately needs. This means tumblr will still need to court potential new users and that entails some change to the design and/or the perception of the site. (I love tumblr but guys, if we are real for a second, last time I told my coworkers that, they asked me if I also had a myspace account.)
Q: So why participate then?
Because it will still help. While some change is inevitable and necessary, if we the existing users put our money where our mouth is, it would send a strong signal to management that we value the service they offer and that they should take our preferences into account in designing the site's future also. Also some cash, even if it is a one time deal,
Q: I heard people who came up with the idea are transphobic Christian fundies--do you really want to associate with people like that?
I don't. But who the blogs behind this idea, as people, are has no bearing on the merits of the idea itself.
#crab day#save this hellsite#im gonna say something i never explicitly have#and ask that you rb this if you agree with it#finance is confusing! and the more we get the message across#the better i think#for keeping tumblr around for a long time

the tl;dr
IRON CROWN as a free comic is now off of wordpress and can be viewed by a neat, robust HTML/CSS/JS comic template called rarebit! effectively nothing has changed for the reader, beyond expecting a little more reliability of uptime over the years.
all comic pages and previously paywalled patreon posts can also be downloaded in this art dump for free, as mentioned in the new author's notes.
the long story:
When talking shop about site/platform moves under this handle, I think it's useful to realize that us (taboo) kink artists live in an actively adversarial internet now, compared to five years ago.
meaning that we have to live with an expectation that 99% of platforms (including registrars and hosting, let alone sns sites) will ban/kick us without warning. this might explain the overly cautious/defensive way we discuss technologies - weighing how likely (and easily) the tool can be used against us vs the perks.
for example: has a harassment mob bullied the platform owners into quietly dropping lolisho artists? trans artists? does the platform/technology have a clear, no-bullshit policy on drawn kink art (specifically third rail kinks like noncon)? does the platform have a long history of hosting r18 doujin artists/hentai publishers with no issue? does the company operate in a nation unfriendly to specific kinks (eg fashkink artists fundamentally incompatible with companies based in germany, when other kinks might be OK?). i talk with a few different groups of artists daily about the above.
but that gets tiring after a while! frankly, the only path that's becoming optimal long-term is (a) putting kink art on your personal site, and if possible, (b) self hosting the whole thing entirely, while (c) complementing your site with physical merch since it's much harder to destroy in one go.
with that said - I've been slowly re-designing all of my pages/sub-domains as compact 'bug out bags'. lean, efficiently packed with the essentials, and very easy to save and re-upload to a new host/registrar near instantly (and eventually, be friendly to self-hosting bandwidth costs since that's now a distant goal).
how does this look in theory, you ask?
zero dependencies. the whole IRON CROWN comic subdomain is three JS files, a few HTML files, one CSS file, and images. that's it.
no updates that can be trojan horse'd. I'm not even talking about malware though that's included; I'm talking about wordpress (owned by the same owners as tumblr cough) slipping in AI opt-outs in a plug-in that's turned on by default. I used to think wordpress was safe from these shenanigans because wordpress-as-a-CMS could be separate from wordpress-as-a-domain; I was wrong. they'll get you through updates.
robust reliability through the KISS principle. keep it simple stupid. malware/DDOS'ing has an infinitively harder time affecting something that doesn't have a login page/interactive forms. You can't be affected by an open source platform suddenly folding, because your "starter" template is contained files saved on your desktop (and hopefully multiple backups...). etc.
so how does this look in practice?
To be fair, you're often trading convenient new shiny UI/tools for a clunkier back-end experience. but i think it's a mistake to think your art site has to look like a MIT professor's page from 1999.
with IRON CROWN, I've effectively replicated it from a (quite good) comic template in wordpress to 98% of the same layout in pure HTML/CSS/JS via rarebit. Should rarebit's website go "poof", I've got the initial zip download of the template to re-use for other sites.
I frankly have a hard time recommending rarebit for an actively updating webcomic since you personally might be trading too many advantages like SEO tools, RSS feeds, etc away - but for a finished webcomic that you want to put in "cold storage" - it's amazing. and exactly what I needed here.

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to The Neopian Biology Project!
This blog is an offshoot of a series of posts started on my main account. It is run by me, @asterixcalibur, in association with Happy Lab Accidents on @cabletwo. I'm an artist and funny person by trade, but a biologist by tragic BDGilbertian retribution.
The goal of this project is to identify all of Neopia's unique species, categorize them by kingdom and region of origin, and find an ideal specimen for each that can be put into a natural history museum (my gallery on Neopets). As of writing, the project has identified over 2000 unique species of Neopian wildlife.
Our main methodology is scouring item descriptions for helpful information. This process also involves researching and standardizing the taxonomical, ecoregional, and evolutionary timeline terminology of Neopia.
Longer term goals are to obtain the ideal specimen of every identified species for the museum, and renovate the museum into a simulated museum experience through careful application of visual assets and CSS/HTML. Maybe one day we can shoot for the Gallery Spotlight?
On Neopets
My account on Neopets is classypotassium. Feel free to ask to be NeoFriends -- just tell me who you are here!
The Neopian Biological Sciences Natural History Museum itself is here.
Ways to Contribute
1. Donate a specimen
If you'd like to donate or loan a specimen to the museum, contact me so we can discuss attribution and collateral!
The gallery's JellyNeo wishlist is here. It will be continually updated as specimens are identified, so consider it a work in progress. As of writing I also haven't checked anything off even if it's been obtained, so double check the museum before offering donations!
2. Donate Neopoints
You can also "donate" by buying a Plushie Fungus from my shop! These are intentionally overpriced so that the change can be considered a charitable donation.
3. Interact here!
A lot of the posts that end up here are going to be asking for people's thoughts on origin, kingdom, uniqueness, and so on, through polls and direct questions.
You can also submit items, images, links, art, specimens, fossils, documentation, scientific papers, primary sources, etc. and so on, for consideration by the Project!
You don't need to know anything about Neopets to put in your two NP (or cents USD). In fact, sometimes it's better to get a perspective grounded in normal Earth biology, because, speaking as a biologist here in Neopia, I can very well say oh ym god please help ohhhh my god you don't even know
Conclusion
You don't need to be into Neopets to enjoy or contribute to this blog; I'll try my best to write posts so that they can be enjoyed by anyone aware of but not necessarily into Neopets. In my experience, explaining Neopets to someone entirely unfamiliar with it is always fun. This shit runs deep, dark, and as spaghetti as its code. Best part of Neopets, to me, is that the site rewards you for exploration, and some of the most consequential but by far weirdest lore can only be found by happening upon a page six links deep into a chain of site features that have gone untouched since 2009, as part of a philosophy of interaction that runs the entire site and is entirely against modern website design principles.
Anyway,
Thank you for visiting!
Science awaits!
