Haven't made too many updates here recently, but that's because I'm in the process of writing a script for the webcomic about these characters! I don't have an estimated timeline for when the first pages are going to be out, but I am nearly done with chapter 1's script. I want to get it sketched and out first!

I know I'll be posting it here and on Comic Fury! And maaaaybe newgrounds as a third (DA is ew, and I don't know where else to post outside of here and ComicFury as for sure posting places).

This lovely webcomic is called Novae and it is available on this here website!! (it's also on webtoons but they had to exclude certain panels over there and also that place is kind of ass nowadays so you're better off just reading it on the official website)

The synopsis goes as follows:

Novae is a historical romance with a touch magic and a dash of astronomy. It chronicles the adventures of Sulvain, a sweet tempered necromancer and Raziol, a passionate 17th century astronomer. A connection forms between them and their relationship blooms, however when the body of a fellow astronomer is found on the steps of the Academy of Sciences, their lives are entangled in ways they could never foresee.

A gentle romance full of drama and adventure with moments that both tear and heal the heart.

I am not exaggerating when I say that this webcomic is one of the best pieces of queer fiction that I've ever read and I cannot reccommend it enough. It is such a fantastic read and it has served as one of my biggest inspirations for my creative journey ever since I first found it

The story? 10/10 Writing? 11/10 Art? 15/10 Characters? Oh my god, they're all so good they broke the damn scale!!

You get the point this comic is amazing I genuinely can't think of anything truly bad to say about it

And you know that meme thats like "fandom so small it could fit in this bus" THATS THE NOVAE FANDOM. I am in desperate need for more people to know about this phenomonal comic and give it the recognition it deserves cause this comic makes me INSANE.

So GO GO READ IT NOW PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE-

There is a trend I noticed in some recent webcomics where some comic artists take a handful of characters and explore different scenarios in different titles, but always using the same faces and names.

David Willis (It's Walky, Shortpacked, Dumbing of Age) and Sophie Labelle (Assigned Male, Serious Trans Vibes, Gender Helpline), the last who also works her webcomic characters into YA novels, are the artists I noticed it...

Then I remembered that in cartooning, this is nothing new: Osamu Tezuka coined the Term Star System to have a handfull of faces in different characters throughout his several manga titles, like when a director works with the same handful of people in several movies (Bergman, Hitchcock, Fellini, Tarantino, Sergio Leone, etc.).

You will also find the same trend in western cartoon and puppet characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck alongside their Friends, Penelop Pitstop, Dick Dastardly and his dog Muttley from Hannah Barbera staring in The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, Wacky Races and The Vulture Squadron, the Looney Tunes and the Muppets troughout several shows and movies:

they are the same characters with the same names and usually archetypical personalities, who play different roles in different scenarios as live action actors do.

What I'm saying is: We can feel free to use the same names and same handful characters from a horror to a western to a romantic comedy, instead of creating different characters to different stories.

They are our cast of actors.

I’m making a zine called The Tenth Muse where I turn Sappho’s poetry into comics- here’s her design so far!

I love queer history and poetry, and a major contributor to my awakening as a lesbian was reading poetry by Sappho, the poet Plato referred to as “The Tenth Muse.”

So I’m picking my 10 favorite poems/excerpts, and turning them into comics that everyone can read for free- to make the sharing of an important wlw figure more accessible to people who may not know about the impact she’s had.

I referenced as many artworks of Sappho as I could to get her looking just right and finally settled on hairstyle C, but I figured it’d be cool to show the runner ups. I’ll be posting updates on Reddit and YouTube as well as posting full comics on Tapas and Webtoon once they’re done! Social links can be found here!

The Fantastical After-School Writing Club // webtoon/manhwa - this an archenemies to fictional lovers. These teachers take on a job to teach these kids how to write. They literally get sucked into the stories the kids make. Funniest shit ever also something suspicious is going on in with the kids and the town ppl. ongoing

First 5* read of the year for me is Kill the Villainess.

It has it's issues, as all things do, but I genuinely thought reading this was worthwhile and thought provoking. It is a story I could fully engage with *all* aspects, which is ultimately how I define 5* reads. (Worthwhile to read, fully engaging, thought provoking, interesting, memorable and fun to engage with)
