Revolutionising Luxury Car Launches with Web AR Technology by XRLabs
Luxury car launches have always been a big deal in the automobile industry. It's a time when manufacturers showcase their latest creations and innovations to the world. However, with technology's rise, car launches have also evolved. With cutting-edge technology like Web AR (augmented reality), car brands can now provide an immersive and engaging experience for their customers.
One such example is a luxury car brand's flagship launch, where XR Labs helped them create an immersive Web AR experience for users. In this article, we'll look at this case study and explore how Web AR is revolutionising car brands' launches.
The challenge.
The luxury car brand wanted to launch its flagship model with an immersive experience that showcased the car's features and design to users. However, with the outbreak of the flu, it was impossible to organise a physical launch event. The brand needed a solution that allowed users to explore car features and design virtually.
The solution
XR Labs provides the most comprehensive solution using Web AR technology. Web AR is a type of AR that runs in web browsers. This means users can access the experience directly from their smartphones or desktops without downloading apps. This allows the luxury car brand to reach a wider audience, regardless of location or device.
XR Labs designed a Web AR experience that allowed users to explore the car's features and design in real-time. The experience was accessible through the brand's website and included a 3D model of the car that users could view from different angles. Users could interact with the model, change the car color, open the doors, and even get a sneak peek at the interior design.
The result.
The Web AR experience was a huge success, with thousands of users exploring the car's features and design virtually. The brand received positive feedback from users who appreciated the unique and engaging experience. The Web AR experience also helped the brand generate buzz around the launch and reach a wider audience.
Conclusion
The luxury car brand's flagship launch is a perfect example of how Web AR technology can transform car brands' launches. With Web AR, brands can provide an immersive and engaging experience for users, regardless of their location or device. Technology allows brands to showcase their products in an innovative and exciting way, generating buzz around the launch and reaching a wider audience. As technology evolves, we can expect more car brands to adopt Web AR and other immersive technologies to enhance their launch experiences.

What can happen when your scribbles meet AI and WebAR 😲
Generative AI development is moving at warp speed and offers incredible opportunities in the AR space. In this experiment, software engineer, Stijn Spanhove, has brought his scribbles to life using a real world environment with just a simple prompt. To develop this prototype, Stijn used Stable Diffusion, ControlNet, a 360° Lora and 8th Wall's Sky segmentation.
Brilliant concept, Stijn. Well done 🙌

Because fuck did we ever talk about how Ortus rose to the occasion of being Harrows cavalier?
It *was* Harrow and it *was* Ortus, and he was good to her, and supported her, and when he couldn't physically fight for her no random fighter would do, no he has to break known laws of spirit magic and summon their house's greatest, mythic fighter, whoch was the level required to fight Wake. Like Im sorry but Griddle, barring some inate magic we havent seen (much) yet, would not have kept up. But it was Ortus and it was Abigail Pent and they said webare getting this girl a fighter.
He *was* a cavalier worth a great deal dammit. And not for the amount of bone he could carry either, but for who he is.

Work In Progress
Initially I started to think about which platform I should start to make this project to enhance the people's interaction on Verulamium Museum especially primarily young people. Firstly, I thought I should be working on Lens Studio which I'm already familiar with but then I changed my mind because Lens Studio Web AR has still some technical issues especially when it comes to surface tracking. That's why I decided to use 8thWall to create my WebAR experience.
I started to gather up the models which are roman artefacts and items related to ancient history on Blender. Some of them are ready made models, some of them I had to model from scratch. Then once the model is ready, I've uploaded the scene on 8thWall interface. At this point, I started to struggle big time because I have limited experience on scripting and 8thWall is JavaScript based WebAr software. I've managed to almost complete the experience where people scan the QR code and find the artefacts lying underground and experience them both digitally and real back in the museum. The other part of experience is about scanning the QR code again but in the museum in front of the actual items and going out the excavation site where they had been founded orginally.
With this experience, I'm aiming to make the connection between Verulamium Museum and Verulamium Park would be empowered and give more interactive aspect to the museum where they can use it for attract the visitors as much as possible.

GPS triggered notification
How can I have my phone automatically notify me when I arrive at a specific location?
Tumblr media
Geofencing technology 🔹 Concept:
Geofencing is a GPS-based technology that can automatically pop up a notification or trigger an action when a user enters a certain geographic area. This can be applied to Verulamium Park. When visitors pass by a historical site, a notification will pop up on their phone saying "You are now standing at the ruins of the ancient Roman market!" and guide users to click to view more AR or audio guides. 🔹 Technical details:
Mobile: Use HTML5 Geolocation API to obtain the user's GPS location. Combine with Web Push Notifications or PWA (Progressive Web App) to push notifications without installing additional apps. Server side: Set up a backend (e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging) to monitor the user's location and send push notifications when the user enters a certain range. 🔹 Implementation: Use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications. When the user enters the geofence, send a Firebase push notification to the phone. Firebase provides a Web Push API that can be integrated with WebAR experiences. ✅ Benefits:
Automatic notification: No need for users to manually scan QR Code, increasing usage rate. Suitable for large park settings: Large lawn areas are suitable for Verulamium. Different content can be triggered: such as AR visualization, audio guide, historical stories, etc.
p.s. a person will only recieve the message once so that it doesn't disdurb people too much. Also, all personal information collected from tourists will be kept confidential and not disclosed.
