my very specific prediction for the upcoming AITA video: he'll open by explaining that last week on the gaming channel he had an 'AITA' moment himself [insert clips from the dan eye incident here]

then he'll lead into the vid by saying something like "and that inspired me to ask you all for your 'am I the hole' moments", and only then will he bring up that this time, he asked for specifically dating/love-related stories, leaving us to piece together that the intro is a dating/love related story via the maxim of relevance

Hi! Sorry to post about asking for money, but my dog Squirt's developed a mass on his eyelid that's impacting his quality of life. It's grown to the point it's scratching into his eye and causing lots of liquid to leak out, and caused enough discomfort to him to scratch it up to the point of bleeding on several occasions.

His surgery to remove it is $900, if you're financially able to assist, I would deeply appreciate anything you can give, even if it's just sharing this around!

Concept that goes hard in theory but would be an absolute shitshow in practice: fandom networking liaison. Someone who knows everyone and can point people to other people. Need an expert on that one episode from 1998 who has the blooper reel? Oh, well, here's a mutual of a mutual who has every blooper reel for [thing]. Need an artist, but specifically one who specialises in the canon art style? Try this guy, he's got commissions open right now! Need an expert on this random niche side character? Buddy, I know a guy who puts that character through the wringer on the daily, here ya go.

I mean, this would probably go really poorly almost immediately, but as a concept it's fun to think about.

These two have come so far in the past year with their ability to share mom cuddles - well, mostly Emma's ability. Thankfully she has had an easier time warming up to Phoebe than Shilo, but it still took time before she was okay with Phoebe climbing on me for cuddles when Emma was already attached to me.

Not only did they share me for 5-10 minutes, at one point, Emma even nuzzled Phoebe & licked her forehead & ears. 🥹

#cats and dogs #phoebe kitty #Emma pup #we're still working on sharing me with Shilo #he's got zero awareness and will start kneading claws too close to her #so if I'm not watching she'll get anxious and yell/lunge at him #but she's improving a lot with him too #we've had a couple shared cuddles with no incidents now #just takes a lot more vigilance from me #and usually moving Shilo along while we're still on a good note #also lots of praise and reassurance for Emma #but I'm very happy these two are doing so well now #also it's kinda funny how often i end up covered in animals now #Emma's always attached to me #then half the time you can add in a cat or spring as well #sometimes Addy but I'd usually rather she attach to Jack bc she big and too much pressure

i think the thing about work rn is that i'm more frustrated that i can't understand the logic behind my DMs decisions more than i am about the actual situation

in no way does it make sense that it takes over two months to promote someone already with the company. it's been three weeks since we got approval from our regional manager and he STILL hasn't gotten his promotion

literally what the hell

hello there from my laptop guess who broke her new phone and is stuck with a mughal-e-azam ke zamane ka phone where she can't download tumblr and pinterest and spotify?

#it's a long story #very long #but my friend dropped my new phone and now the display is off #so i had to send it home to claim the warranty from the place i got it from #but turns out they don't cover accidental damages under warranty so now it's out of warranty #so my dad had to buy a new screen that cost 8000 bucks and now we've officially spent more than the total {current} cost of an iPhone 12 #on my phone and my dad is furious and i'm stuck with this old phone that doesn't have my notes and imp stuff until i go home after my exams #which are next week and i need the said notes for the aid exams but oh well #this is what you get for irresponsibly showing your new birthday gift to your friends #this rambling makes no sense but i will cry #cuz i have 2 submissions tomorrow and i don't have my notes and i regret not writing then down by hand #on pen paper #and hence all this rambling #ok good bye now i gotta go do something about tomorrows submissions #ghost posts

#allison's work life #artificial generation fuckery #in point of fact we're lumping a lot of things into 'AI' so probably bits of them are all true #i think AI narration probably is here to stay because we've been mass training that for ages (what did you think alexa and siri were?)#i think ai covers will stick around on the low price point end unless those servers go the way of crypto #but as with everywhere they'll be limited because you can't ask an ai for design alts #(and do you guys know how many fucking passes it takes to make minute finicky changes to get exec to sign off on a cover?)#i think ai translation for books will die on the vine - you'd have to feed the whole text of your book to the ai and publishers hate that #ai writing is absolute garbage at long form so it will never replace authorship #it's also not going to be used to write a lot of copy because again you'd have to feed the ai your book and publishers say no way #like the thing to keep in mind is publishers want to save money but they want to control their intellectual property even more #that's the bread and butter #the number 1 thing they don't want to do is feed the books into an LLM #christ we won't even give libraries a fair deal on ebooks you think they're just going to give that shit away to their competitors??#but also i don't think the server/power/tech issue is sustainable for something like chatgpt and it is going to go the way of crypto #is humanity going to create an actual artificial intelligence that can write and think and draw?#yeah probably eventually #i do not think this attempt is it #they got too greedy and did too much too fast and when the money dries up? that's it #maybe I'm wrong but i just think the money will dry out long before the tech improves

My probably-bad college student confession is that I actually kind of love being in a deadbeat project group where I'm the only one pulling any weight. Like, YES. PLEASE. Surrender control to me. Let me ensure we all pass this. Do the bare minimum, I don't fucking care, as long as I can make sure we all pass this assignment. I'd much rather be in control (albeit control everyone else shoved on me, and they're lucky I'm happy about this) and pulling everyone else along than be stuck in a power struggle where everyone wants control and to assign shit and to argue about it endlessly.
