it's just. it's been so long. I'm seeing mutuals reblog dsmp that haven't touched dsmp with a ten foot pole in years. my dash is exploding. I'm seeing don't stop the party edits again. for tonight, just one night, our community is back in a small way and once again I am being hit with the realization of just how much I've missed this. everything about dsmp may have caused us pain and anger and sadness over the years but at the core of it there is still a story so many of us love that brought us together. they got their happy ending and now we have ours.

#we're back on main again #id been almost entirely over him #largely thanks to finally meeting his girlfriend and absolutely loving her #this weekend would have been their anniversary #a fact i should not know off the top of my head #but i did #and I also noticed he was responding to messages (both dm and gc) a lot more than i expected for an anniversary weekend #thought it was weird and wondered if theyd broken up #but thats ridiculous thats not enough information to make that leap #then this morning i got a text asking if i could give him a ride to dnd and that his girlfriend wouldnt be joining #i always give him a ride but hadnt last time because he said he and his girlfriend would be driving together #that was enough of a red flag to go check both of their Instagrams #all pictures still up #still dismissed it #got to his place and asked how his weekend was #weird silence #then he said not great #sure enough he broke up with her #im usually socially clueless and then i have leaps of connection like this #this happened the other time he went through a break up too #i had not enough info and still knew before he said anything #both times i was the first to know and it took him a few days to tell everyone else #this time we got to dnd and others commented on her not being there and he didnt say anything #I'm the only one #i cant even do anything because hes leaving the country in a month

hrrr I Saw the TV Glow is still rolling around in the back of my mind. it's hitting me somewhat belatedly that what seemingly starts as mainly an identity story turns out - toward the final act - to also be a love story. two queer kids finding each other (again). the bond they forge (have always had). the feelings that start to grow (were always there) despite the lie they're living. one trying to save the other, and failing. the frail hope at the end that maybe what they had mattered after all, even if they never see each other again. maybe because they knew each other, someday things will be better.

idk. so much of the story feels so lonely. they're awkward with each other at first and they don't really "get" each other and they're absent from each other's lives for long periods and they don't have anyone else. but it's all a lie - they were best friends, they knew each other better than anyone, they are who they are because they knew each other, they were not alone. no matter how bleak the setting is, this fake world can't obscure the truth. they'll never forget each other. it will always have happened, it will always have mattered.

it's so hard to put into words but Owen/Isabel and Maddy/Tara make me so crazy, the way everything in the world works to drive them apart and yet not even losing their memories can destroy the connection between them. and it's not enough to prevent the world from tearing them apart but maybe it's enough to save their lives

queer love portrayed not as supernaturally resilient or invincible (god knows it isn't), but as a precious fragile thing that can and will grow back over and over in some form no matter what ...

#deerchatter #i saw the tv glow #i saw the tv glow spoilers #to be 100% clear i definitely believe they were specifically IN love on top of also being best friends. and the distinction is important #owen growing feelings for maddy is implicitly tied to her beginning to find herself as a trans lesbian #maddy growing feelings for owen is implicitly tied to her remembering their true lives as isabel and tara #it's so subtle because there's no space for that love in the midnight realm. and yet it grows back against all odds #there's very interesting potential for an isttg/rgu contrast-comparison analysis right down to the coffin/grave symbolism #the main duo's love being suppressed by a reality that can't bear it or contain it. the way it resurrects as self-love/renewed determinatio #if we're getting really crazy there are also parallels between maddy coming back for owen and certain interpretations of AoU #but while utena and anthy are implied to find each other in every incarnation owen and maddy's fate is a lot more open-ended #owen says she never saw maddy again but the truthfulness of the narrated parts of the story are highly questionable so ???#augh. so many thoughts.#sorry if some of this seems completely off i only watched it once late at night. gonna rewatch in the upcoming days

as someone who isnt super excited for sotm for certain reasons I am really glad that like. it's clear that since ruin theyve been setting up for carnival and sotm IS carnival. so now that carnival is finally coming out, afterwards theyll be moving on to other plotlines since the main villain stuff is sorted out

I'm just rlly happy to finally see a clear direction for how the story is gonna be playing out with like "okay these games were leading up to this so after this will be open possibilites" instead of like. absolutely no info about each upcoming game and being left guessing before it releases and just having to wait and see what's in it and if anything you're looking forward to will be in it

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

#even if i dislike how theyve been handling this whole mimic cassies dad factory mapbot bonnie bully stuff #the past like 2 releases 3 after sotm #after watching johns theory video it really does feel like stuff was more purposeful with thought put into it when u plug in cassies dad #even if the plot of him being behind mxes and trapping mimic is pushing other more important characters aside #its probably what happened and accepting that makes the story at least seem more thought out #it did make me feel better about it bc like. it at least feels like theyre cooking #like what theyre working on DOES have a direction and a plan and it isnt just random stuff like how it felt when hw2 came out #i might still think that the stuff theyve been doing the past few releases is boring af and uninteresting #compared to earlier concepts like focusing on vanny and the possession aspects and sentient glamrocks #(we could see more of it with freddy if theyd let him come back ever)#but like. at least it has thought put into it and feels like theyre actually trying to set shit up for something #like sotm is an ORIGIN #the tagline was 'sometimes you have to understand the past to see the future'#at the end of the day sotm is a setup for a campaign thatll take place in present day anf #even if its taking ten thousand years to get there im excited for it #aka its taken a long time to tell this story setup of cassies dad and mimic and shit and it might be boring for some people #(me)#but at the end of the day its meant to be setup explaining the past of why mimic exists (even if that's already in tbe books)#so after we 'understand' it we can get back to present day #and focus on its current victims vanessa gregory cassie etc #cassies dad is 100% dead if hw2s protag is him so he woukdnt be relevant anymore. just another character thing to serve cassie #im just saying like after sotm its wide open for getting back to the plot #and i think its actually right to say that bc like all of this has been setup. if hw2 protag is cassies dad its a prequel to ruin #so rn ruin is the most recent game in the timeline. meaning the next game that takes place in current tjme will focus on the current mains #Gregory cassie vanessa #sorry for fnaf plot posting again ive been thinking about it a lot the past few days #thought id balance some negative ive posted with a positive since im feeling better about it myself :)#one day we're gonna be so back and its gonna be great #its just gonna be a long annoying wait lmao #thoughts

I occasionally wish to reach out to old friends/acquaintances I haven't spoken to since high school/some other even earlier time in my life, but I have SOOO little social energy even for required tasks (like making dr phone calls or etc), I never have any leftover for extra ones, and it would be very odd to message someone I haven't spoken to in like 5 years out of the blue but then take 4 entire months to respond back lol.. My natural curiosity with nostalgia/collecting details of the past/etc. (literally if I were born a little earlier I would definitely do scrapbooking or something lol) is very strong, but, alas, not strong enough to beat out the Social Issues Demons apparently
