#21.3 Thoughts

"What's on your mind?" Isu asked, already lying down on his futon which was placed right next to his. Laure was already fast asleep on Isu's other side.

Hatz crouched down and pulled on his blanket. His thoughts kept going back to whatever happened just a moment ago as he stared at the ceiling. "How high do you think I can climb the tower?"

Isu hummed, the answer came easy. "Definitely higher than me."

Hatz looked at him, frowning. "I will take you along."

Shibisu's smile didn't reach his eyes, and he was not looking at Hatz.

"I just…" Hatz started again to fill the silence, "I realized how weak and helpless I am, in the face of true power."

Shibisu only hummed, and Hatz came to a realization. He knew very well that Isu wasn't gifted with power, yet he always did his best to keep up with their team that consisted of mostly gifted individuals. Though Hatz wouldn't call himself one, since he came from a more humble background.

"I think I understand you better now." Hatz said, with a newfound fondness of his friend. "It's frustrating, isn't it?"

"You're being sentimental." Isu chuckled, but he didn't deny it.

Hatz also didn't deny the claim. He might be just missing the life he left behind, where everything was simple, where he was praised for some achievements. But he also wouldn't exchange it for what he had today. His team, his family. It was just the thought that everything that he had could be taken away in just an instant, while he was powerless to stop it.

"You're rarely like this." Isu asked, now with a little concern. "What happened?"

Hatz debated on how to tell him. "We met a ranker, along with Agni and Grace, earlier."

"Oh?" Isu shifted to lie sideways, smirking at him with intrigue. "You met Grace? How did it go?"

It seemed that Isu was still under the assumption that Hatz had a crush on Grace, which he definitely did not. Not when Grace asked him to teach him how to wield a sword, and not when Grace picked his side when he debated with Earrings about swordsmanship's principles. Grace had wanted to know him better, and it was natural that Hatz had grown to like him more than the others. It was all just a mutual feeling, nothing extending to romance. Though he had to admit that he wanted to impress Grace and earn his attention, because no one else bothered to actually see the art of swordsmanship he was so proud of and trained hard with. Still, he had no intention to take him away from Agni. It was against his principle of loyalty. Even if, admittedly, he was a little bitter about it when he found out that Agni looked and acted a lot like Khun.

"You're frowning~" Isu taunted. "Could it be…jealousy~?"

"It's not like that." Hatz cleared his throat, as well as whatever he was feeling. "What I saw earlier made me realize that they're living in a different world than ours."

"Are you referring to their power? Since you're talking about it earlier." Isu's expression turned serious once again. "I mean…Agni is surely strong. We have all seen that first hand."

"He does, but– what I experienced earlier, was something I could get out of by luck."

"What are you talking about?"

"I don't know how to tell you exactly, but it felt like I had witnessed a fight between high rankers."

"On this floor?? In the regular area??"

"There was a shinsu barrier, so the fight was unseen from outside. I didn't notice anything amiss until I accidentally went through the barrier, and Agni caught me as soon as I entered."

"A barrier that could contain a high rankers' fight, yet easy for regulars to get through…" Isu mumbled. "Are they perhaps…sparring?"

"I think you might be right." Because Hatz was said to be unconscious for only a few minutes, and everything seemed to be over by then. "Rak clarified that Grace had partaken in that fight."

"Huh. Grace did?"

"He was beaten up and unconscious. Where else would he get those injuries?"

"Is he okay?"

"Agni had tended to him, and I can say that Agni is a capable healer. Grace should be fine, he was sleeping when we were forced to leave."

"...Forced?"

"There was a high ranker, I think. His presence was so strong that even Rak was quiet. Though he seemed to be fond of Grace and Agni. But it looked like Agni was a little afraid of him, so he sent us back."

"If that's true, then there is a good chance that the guy is related to FUG." Shibisu groaned and rolled back, covering his face. "Shit, what did we get ourselves into…"

"Uh…Sorry?"

"No, no. It's not your fault." Isu flailed his hands to try and make his point, before sighing and laying his hands back down. "Just…I'm glad you made it back, Hatz."

His shrug of one shoulder held a lot of unspoken explanation, most of which he'd prefer not to linger on at the moment. Biggs had already mentioned his lost chances and his feeling of being on borrowed time; that'd be enough, for now. At least his attempt to seem calm and confident had worked, though it did little to ease his nervous, excited pulse. The tapping of Zack's foot jarred the self-conscious worry Biggs tried to quash. After all, flirting was one thing, following through was another.

Before his mind could run away on him again and prove Marlene right, Zack broke the thoughtful silence. Biggs sighed out a laugh, glancing to the drained reactor for only a moment, subtle anxious tension draining from his back and shoulders. Yeah, they could both do with some food; his 'last meal' of favorite snacks wasn't all that filling, and Zack was probably ravenous after chasing down his sorry ass again. The promise of an apartment to stay in was icing on the cake.

"All mine, huh? Better remind myself not to rush dinner. ...C'mon." A tip of his head in the exit's general direction, before he turned to leave the reactor at last.

Only once he was turned away from Zack did he let his flusterment show on his face, smoothing a gloved palm over flushed tawny cheeks as if he could wipe away the redness. Biggs' mind, for all its racing, remained certain of his decision. He might not know how it'd go or what might come after, but he knew he wanted this, and 'waiting for the right time' in the past had left him with too many regrets.

He thought he caught a glimpse of Zack's stare flicking down to his mouth, and the ideas that conjured brought a subtle warmth to Biggs' cheeks. Even so, he kept his hand where it was, using the excuse of sorting out the hair he'd mussed to stay close for longer. Okay, maybe he was a little desperate and lonely too - but he didn't think he could be blamed, after everything.

Biggs didn't expect the other to list off almost everyone who'd caught his eye in recent years. That mild blush only grew warmer, spreading onto his ears as well, despite his fairly calm and amiable expression. The mention of Wedge did ache sharpest, but he didn't begrudge Zack for it. Those pangs were better than the pain of trying to shut them out.

We have only each other. The sentiment, backed up by a smiling compliment and pretty mako-blue eyes, broke through most of Biggs' lingering melancholy. A flash of teeth showed in his answering smile. "Glad you noticed." His hand finally retreated from Zack's hair, fingertips skimming the other man's forehead and temple as they brushed aside that stray lock. "'Cause yeah, I think you're hot too." He propped both hands on his own hips, but didn't yet back away. "Whether you wanna do something about it before or after we visit Elmyra's place, that's up to you. I've got too many missed chances and too much borrowed time to dance around the topic anymore."

Despite the confidence and truth of his claim, Biggs could hear his heart picking up pace in the backs of his ears. He was so accustomed to having some sort of plan or loose framework in mind, even for flings and one-night stands and dates that didn't go anywhere. Playing this fast and loose was as exciting as it was almost daunting; if it were anyone alive but Zack, he might not have tried.

Hi! Sorry everyone for just disappearing, hope you've all been well! I haven't been very active on tumblr at all for a few months now I think - first it was exams and then I went on a long trip and only returned a few days ago lol

In short, yes this is still alive... but progress will probably be slow.

I've just started my final year of school so there may be less time for me to write/more stress -> struggle to gather motivation for writing, but we'll see how it goes! Either way, I don't plan on giving up because I love my characters and I want to see this story through to the end, even if that takes some time :)

(side note: i haven't been keeping up with reading IFs either so i'm definitely hoping to catch up soon hahah)

as you wish, anon 🫡 i wanna have a fic out by next sunday's episode, but we'll see how that goes hahah (ramblings about said fic below because i'm really really normal about hotd right now)

backstory: reader and aegon have been in love basically their whole lives, but he's eventually betrothed to helaena and reader's betrothed to aemond. it's not a loveless marriage exactly, but it's obvious aemond was not her first choice, and aemond pretends he's okay with that etcetcetc.

the fic i have in mind is basically aegon getting super duper drunk and barging in on aemond and reader having sex (like s2e3 in the brothel) and teaching aemond how to fuck her basically :P aegon's super possessive on the sidelines, aemond's got something to prove, and reader's lowkey reveling in it all hahah

the other two fics i have outlined that may or may not see the light of day follows s2ep1 after jaehaerys is killed and s2ep5-6 when aegon gets hurt (basically just reader struggling to keep her marraige afloat despite her very obvious feelings for aegon)

Nivi, just my two cents on how Stephanie (I'm just gonna go with the name for now - love it btw, she totally would name her after Steph - cause I don't wanna keep writing 'the kid' lmao) came to be:

Like totally agree with wanting P to step into a proper parent role, but in terms of Azzi either adopting or opting for a donor, I feel like that's obviously then a very conscious and purposeful decision on Azzi's part to have a kid. Which is totally fine ofc! But idk, I just feel like at that point in her life and career (what, she would have been 25/26? Based on the timeline you gave us), I just don’t see her making that decision already especially if she's gonna be a single parent? Again, not that she couldn't do it, it just feels like she wouldn't.

And I know one-night-stands kinda seem like a cop out or the easy way out of not having to introduce or have the other parent around but I don't think it would be that out of character? People have one night stands, and sometimes sex produces babies no matter how much protection you use ya know 😅. Also, yes I know that choosing to keep the baby is still a conscious decision to have a child but it's not like it was her intention to have a child going into it - am I making sense??

So I guess in that vain, adoption would make sense too, if it was certain circumstances that led to it, rather than her purposefully being like "ok I want to have a kid now and I wanna do it via adoption". Idek I'm sorry if I'm speaking total bullshit.

Again, just my thoughts! Totally ignore if you want!

Other thoughts:

Oooo ok so Stephanie and P have already met in previous games, yes ok I like this development haha. So much potential. I still stand by Tim being the instigator, like he'd go up to P to say hi whenever Azzi's team was playing P's and lil Steph would be hiding behind his leg. 😂 And one day (before P ends up on Azzi's team), P has like a lil toy ready to give to her at one of their games and Stephanie clings on to that toy from then on (despite Azzi's protests).

Hahah yeah I was thinking trade too - well I guess if we wanna be semi-realistic, it could just be that P requested a trade and you know whichever team she was on obvs had to seek the best value and Azzi's team just happened to be the ones to give it to them. And then I can just imagine when P gets the news about the trade going through and realises which team, she's like "oh fuck that's not what I meant" 😭

Also, those flashbacks to when they were together and the time they were apart are gonna hit, I already know (if you choose to incorporate them ofc). Oh my god, like when Azzi goes into labour (if we go the pregnancy route) and she's maybe wishing more than anything that P was there with her or just like moments where she's craving having another person to go through the journey of parenthood with and her subconscious always immediately thinks of P 🥲

And then on the flip side, everytime P comes across baby/kid stuff, she also prolly always ends up thinking of Azzi and lil Steph, even more so after she's met the kid.

I'm also assuming that similar to the UCLA fic, we're not having Azzi tear her ACL again and so they would have both declared for the 2025 draft? Were they already broken up by that point? Cause damn, that would have been a tense and heartbreaking draft night! Cause if they were broken up by then, their break up would potentially have happened in like the week or sum between the natty and draft night? So many possibilities.

I also just remembered that the Fudds have a dog named Curry - damn, Steph getting the dog AND child namesake. He deserves it, i reckon.

Yeah I've been calling her Stephanie, Stephie for short, in my head so I'm pretty sure that's her name now...

My inbox is currently just ask after ask about how they want/think Stephanie came to be (I swear I really would like to reply to everyone but it's just a liiiiitttle bit exhausting) and I'm just very amused but as always, you and I are on the same wavelength. Like I know some people really want sperm donor/adoption (I love y'all I promise), I just can't really see her at that age and at that time of her career, purposefully trying for a child. I think it's different if she decided to keep the child after a ONS because well it's already there? Idk if that makes sense cause I don't know how to say it really but there's just a difference in my head about that?

WAIT I LOVE THAT AWWWW. But yeah Stephie and P have definitely interacted before and even if it's only a couple of times a year, I think they'd already just a little bit enamored, so when P becomes her coach, it doesn't take long for them to become wrapped around each other (spoiler?)

As we all know, I do love my flashback so trust bestie, there will be plenty, some angsty, some fluffy but a lot of flashbacks!

I actually am gonna keep Azzi's injuries in this one cause I want to keep all of the UConn lore similar to reality (yes this is me just wanting to add a cruise scene again...) so they'd actually go to the draft in different years and this may or may not (I'm not even tryna tease I actually haven't decided) play a little bit of a part in the break up (how? idk we'll find out)

LMAO Steph is also an honorary Fudd atp and will absolutely be meeting Stephie at some point in this fic

AH I ALWAYS LOVE YOUR SONGS REC!! Babes have you already made a playslist?? I think my main song for this fic might end up being Last Kiss by Taylor Swift (yes another Taylor Swift song I know) because "so I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep" just feels very apt for them.

Idol Land PriPara episode 7

Idol Land PriPara episode 7 was released today for monthly pass holders! It will be available for the general population on 11/1.

The PriPara Police are back!

With Ajimi too, riding a wave of hashtags? I wonder if this is why we've gotten a few Ajimi coords in Prism Stone lately. (Well, I guess her birthday's coming up too.)

Anyway, ever since Mario broke into PriPara the bugs have been out of control.

Dorothy sells Meganii some special spray for 5000 idollars that ends up being glasses spray, not bug spray!! HAHAH!

Disappointing monetization, pointless hashtags, and countless bugs. You have to hand it to them for being self-aware.

Anyway, Amari is still feeling guilty for all this and after being confronted by the others she finally tells them everything. Upon hearing her story, Meganii supplements that when Amari entered PriPara, a high load was put on the system and the brand Fullmetal Rabbit mysteriously appeared.

LAALA'S REACTION HAHAHAHHAAA. This scene pans across all the characters looking concerned and Laala just :D

Anyway, despite everyone not being all that phased, Amari is still humiliated by her "dark past" and comes up with an excuse to run away as fast as possible.

She goes back to her room, where she throws everything she has related to Mario and her "dark past" into a trash bag. As she does this, Mario realizes he's disappearing faster than ever.

Amari is interrupted by her school's Gloria clone before he can disappear completely though, and Mario is more determined than ever to make sure no one ever forgets him.

Still, Amari vows never to visit PriPara again... until she realizes she forgot her wasabi mayo and sneaks back in only to be caught in a trap by Pepper.

No worries though, Pepper won't eat Amari since "weak creatures have lean meat".

But this is how Amari runs into Non Sugar and ends up at their hideout. Despite Non assuring Amari that she has no reason to run from SoLaMi Dressing, Amari just can't get over the embarrassment and is sure everyone is laughing at her (especially Dorothy). Amari's constant crying reminding Non of Laala the day before summer vacation ends, she takes pity on Amari so Non and Non Sugar dry her tears and comfort her.

But Non Sugar has other things to do! They are working on a new Making Drama for their special performance tonight!

However, things quickly derail when Pepper's friends from the Sapana visit, causing a conflict with Chili, and Ajimi blows through on top of that.

Amari tries to get Non to escape with her, but Non refuses to back down. Eventually, she manages to blast away Ajimi and calm her teammates, reminding them that they decided that they are the only ones who can awaken Yui and save PriPara!

But they never finished their Making Drama. But here is where Amari shakily steps in to tell them that they already have, and how she was moved by their determination not to run away or something like that. So, Non Sugar decides to run with it!

These coords! These are the ones that they got from winning the Prism Stone poll, right!?

And Spicy Hotcake!!!!

But okay. Since Sugarless Friend was on the Switch, I'm thinking it will probably be the next song added to the game. (As a paid song I'm sure, but still, 300 yen is worth it for some non sweet Non Sugar I think.)

The Non Sugar SCR! I thought it was so unfair during season 3 that they had to share, but it is super cute.

So, did Non Sugar have the power needed to free Yui? Maybe they actually did. We'll never know because Mario's Cyalume Tornado interferes.

After the live, Amari sees Non writing her meticulous notes and is reminded of her own notebook. The others confront Amari and convince her that everyone has their own dark past she has nothing to worry about. Amari "chakiros" with Non Sugar, officially becoming friends, before heading home.

After landing in the trash pile she threw her stuff into, Amari decides to save her notebook after all.

Upon opening it up and looking at the ripped page, she suddenly remembers she gave Mario a weak point.

If only she could remember what it was....

IDK why that MNOG moment came to me when I was thinking of this but something strange is going on this week writing wise.

My other stuff is still on track as normal and it is vitally important to me that it stays that way, my main projects rn are still RS, collab project, with Inksgiving bonus chapters for RS and Reborn to work on. I also have a really fun idea for Reborn's sequel that I absolutely am gonna do it's my mission hahah.

My other WIP is still what I hope will be an entry in Tapas' web novel contest this year, but while I was brainstorming that, I started having ideas for something else, ones I couldn't shake that didn't quite fit the tone of FS/SDWTDL. I bought a bunch of legal pads because I read a single chapter of an author's book about his writing process and all I got from it was "oh I should try writing with legal pads." I brought them to work and on some bored days this week...just started writing stuff down. And now I have maybe another WIP 😅

As a refresher...

My longterm goals for another WIP to work on:

-Something that flexes different creative muscles than my usual projects

-Something that pushes me to grow as a writer with different formats, tones, genres, character voices

-Something I could maybe publish traditionally potentially

And this project as of right now doesn't feel like my web novels. The characters I'm purposefully trying to make as different as possible from my usual stuff (but I'll still get at least one transbian in there ofc) and the premise and plot that's coming to me I want to break my own rules and do something wildly different.

I'm almost like embarrassed to post about it because I know what'll probably happen. I'll get really excited about a fresh new WIP and say something about finally climbing that tradpub mountain, write a full chapter, then a second, then I just get sick of it. I remember how stressful the process is, how much I don't like searching for lit agents or writing queries, and then the project becomes no fun to write on its own. That is the likeliest scenario, but two others pop up in my head as I daydream.

Best case scenario: I miraculously finish it and get it published, and end up getting more readers for my web novels.

Worst case scenario: I get it published but it backfires and gets more hate on my web novels as I push them out of their safe little niche, people yell at me for not writing book 4 and instead focusing on my gay girl web novels (this would be kind of funny actually) and then I get cancelled and unpersoned for being a trans girl online (this would be less funny)

So we'll see where it goes. It may be like Project ZERO where I get a ways in, hate it, bench it, then rework elements of it into a lesbian web novel later on. Maybe I'll actually finish and this will be The One that somehow gets an agent's attention and gets published. as of right now though it's some notes scribbled on a legal pad, and legal pad scribbling is fun. At the very least i'll be something to take my mind off boring work days.

Ah yes okay I see, that makes sense then! I hate French (whoops I said it🫣). I’d choose German over French any day. I personally love the Scandinavian languages and find them to be quite ‘easy’ to learn.

Oh that really is a thing, most people I know love camping because they already used to go as kids.

HELLO. So, first things first, I'm really really sorry about disappearing for over 2 months 😅 I have no excuse other than that summer got busy, went on vacation, spent 3 weeks watching the Olympics and my brain apparently needed a reset because every time I tried to come back here, I would close the app 5 seconds in. I am still in the process of returning, and very sorry for basically disappearing 😅

I have to admit I'm not the biggest lover of French but I had studied it before when I was at school and it's kinda similar to Spanish, enough that it's easier to learn it, so I went with it! Afterwards I'd like to learn German/Italian, one would probably be more useful, the other much easier 😂 Scandinavian languages sound so cool too! I'd love to learn to speak at least one of them but I'm not sure if they'd be easy to learn for me, we'll have to check and see how it goes I guess.

My summer was busy but nice, I hope yours too! How was the camping? Did you manage to finish the fic? ❤️❤️

I started reading it saturday night and I finished them at 4 a.m xDDD. But I'm not regretting it, the lost hours of my sleep were used correctly because that saga was just PERFECT. I really, really love them and I hope you continue writing for a lot of time bc you're really good.

Architecture wow that’s a cool field!! Oh no that’s sad but also good in a way because now you’re doing law ¿ and hahah bestie ikwym . So i didn’t want to continue science after 10th and I’m not interested the slightest in commerce-y things so in arts I was going through the psych syllabus and I found it interesting and I had talk with my school counsellor and she told me about her experience and the various prospects of the field soo I decided to go with it and I’m liking it so far and I’d say all the crime/ detective type shows also always made it seem cool 😂
