Now, Bela is by far not an alcoholic

And despite how she practically worships her mother and attempts to be just like her, she doesn’t drink nearly as much wine as her

That being said, though, she drinks the most out of the three sisters

Unlike Cassandra and Daniela, she doesn’t drink it purely for the blood, either

She genuinely enjoys the taste of it

Her family being the one to produce the many different bottles and flavours of wine, she’s quite proud of their unique tastes, too

They have the sweetest of wines and those containing blood, rare, expensive wine and one that is more affordable, yet earns them a more stable income

At work, she usually has a glass of wine with her, tainted with blood

The blood helps her concentrate

The wine helps her keep her calm around the incapable fools around her

Mother wouldn’t approve if she slaughtered them all for their stupidity…

Another glass is served to her at breakfast, though it yet again serves rather to strengthen her, and as an alternative to drinking straight from someone’s neck

On some lucky days, you allow her to do just that, too though

To curl up with you, to mount you and grind down on you while she feeds, to moan at the delicious taste of your blood as it hits her throat

You feel dizzy each time, but never bad, and she always cares for you after

Lunch is shared by the two of you only

Sometimes in her office, at other times in her room or in the castle gardens, should the weather allow it

Today, you’re in luck

You sit out by the gardens, surrounded by the beautiful flowers and their refreshing smell

Bela has her usual glass of wine, whereas you occasionally sip from a glass of water- cleaner than all the water at the village, certainly- as you talk

You love this part of the day

You get to tell her about your day, she tells you of hers

It’s just the two of you, no worries can reach you

You watch as she drinks, still talking and telling her about a story you picked up among the maids today

Some newcomer or so, nothing too interesting to Bela, but you appreciate that she’s still listening to all the gossip you have to share with her

And even as you talk, your eyes are fixated upon her lips

The glass touches them gently, the soft things set on its rim as wine is poured into her mouth

Some escapes her and briefly passes her lips, but she pulls the glass away and her tongue darts out fast, catching the lost drop

You don’t even notice that you’ve been staring, nor that you’ve stopped talking

“Would you like some, draga?”, she asks, then, her arm outstretched so the half-drunken glass is right by your face

This close you can smell its sweetness

You almost chuckle. Bela has always liked sweet wine, the fruity flavor, the elegance of it

You shake your head at her offer, though

“Oh, no thank you, darling. I don’t drink”, you refuse politely

For a moment, she sends you a confused look

You watch her sniff the wine first, then take another sip, before the glass is held out for you again

“It’s the regular kind. I promise, there’s no blood in it”, she hums, then

You can’t help but chuckle lightly, even as you feel your face flush with warmth

You explain, you don’t drink

“At all?”, is her first reaction

You almost giggle again

For someone so smart, so experienced even, her question is adorably naive

Upon hearing your answer, she’s visibly shocked

She isn’t upset by any means, she’s just- surprised

Her family’s wine is a delicacy, especially in the village. A privilege. It’s very uncommon for someone to not jump at the opportunity to drink it

She sips from her glass again, and you practically see the gears turning in her head

She realises- she has never seen you drink any of her wine before, nor any other type of alcohol

When you pick up the conversation with more gossip around the castle, it’s like the entire interaction didn’t happen

You don’t bring it up again, nor does she

Still, the next day, at your lunch date, you notice she has a glass of wine, and a glass of water

With a smile, she offers it to you

“Would you like some, draga?”

You giggle. How could you refuse?

Cassandra

Cassandra isn’t the biggest fan of wine

Sure, she’ll have it, but it barely has any effect on her. She’s mostly in it for the blood

Sometimes, you find her drink wine randomly just like it’s water

She doesn’t seem to mind and it has no effect on her at all, aside from a small speed and strength boost the blood seems to offer her temporarily

Due to the fact she only drinks wine with blood in it, though, she has never offered you any

This changes when, one day, the two of you stop by the kitchens on the way to the basement

It’s not unusual by any means. Cassandra loves to pick up some snacks beforehand

Especially when she plans on taking you to her laboratory, her own little room in the castle’s basements

Sometimes, you allow her to take you out on a date there

While you occasionally hear a prisoner’s screams, the privacy the two of you share down there is beautiful

Her sisters can’t interrupt you, no worries can reach you

It’s her own little sanctuary, and she chooses to share it with you

It’s an honor

This time, she slips a bottle of wine with her, whereas you take some bread and the raw, chopped meat she likes so very much

And she does, popping one in her mouth every once in a while as she listens to you

She loves this!

Today, especially, as she sits as if enthralled, listening to you talk about blades and demonstrating their uses, counting the pros and cons to each

Clearly, the research you’ve done to impress her has paid off

You know, she’s considered getting a new blade after all, despite not being sure which one just yet

Your vast knowledge and list of swords, daggers, axes, maces, even bows has her intruiged

As she watches you, she takes a few sips from the wine bottle set on the table with you

She hums at the taste before popping another meat cube in her mouth

Not bad at all, certainly, though she finds it lacks the flavor of blood

As you keep talking, and she keeps drinking, she eventually offers the glass to you

You shake your head, getting out a quick “No thank you” before your rant about blades from medieval times continues on

She tilts her head a little at you

Waiting for you to finish your sentence, she holds up the wine glass again

“There’s no blood in it, I made sure”

Her sweetness strikes you for a moment. And still, it doesn’t quite tempt you into drinking

“Oh, I don’t drink”, you clarify instead

Her eyes are set on you

“At all?”, she asks

You nod

She shrugs, then; “Okay”

You watch her as she gets up wordlessly, setting the bottle aside by another table

She downs the glass in one go, then- to your surprise- retrieves water

Never have you seen her drink that before

When she sits again, she gestures for you to continue

Still, your rant is quickly interrupted by your giggles when she takes a sip

Her face turns sour, a mix of a frown and pout on it as she spits the water back in the glass and sticks her tongue out

“This has no flavor at all!”, she complains, throwing another meat cube in her mouth

You can’t help but laugh at her

Again, your rant it interrupted for a moment, and you laugh loudly when she swarms off and returns with the glass filled with fresh blood

To each their own, you suppose

Daniela

She likes to drink wine, really, having somewhat grown up with it

Ever since reaching a stage in her life in which she could control herself- her blood lust, her feelings, her emotions- easily, she was allowed to taste not only the blood of servants and prey, but also the finer taste of her family’s rich and infamous bottle: sanguis virginis

From then on, Daniela’s been somewhat addicted to the sweetness it adds to the blood

She wishes it wouldn’t come with the price of killing the blood’s host

You’d make such a fine bottle…

But even so, Daniela has appreciated the many flavors of the many different bottles of wine her family produces

While she never has too much-

not that it would matter, seeing as wine barely has any effect on her anyway

- she likes to sip from a glass of rich wine from time to time when she reads

She finds it gives her class, and keeps her throat nice, warm and most of all; not dry

You’re sure this prevents many from being slaughtered by her

This being said, Daniela is always quick to offer you a taste, too

She wants to share with you, after all

And still, she doesn’t feel upset when you decline her offer

Despite her rather energetic, delusional and eager personality, Daniela would never push you when you’re feeling uncomfortable about something

Besides, she isn’t overly in tune with what humans may and may not eat and drink

She trusts your judgement

More for her, she supposes

She never really paid much mind to it, to the fact you’re not drinking. Even she doesn’t drink when she isn’t in the mood for it

Then, one day, it seems it’s revealed to her

You’re in bed with her, curled up in the sheets together

Your neck is aching, throbbing where her sharp teeth dug in mere minutes ago

She’s licked all the blood from you and is now curled up at your side, clutching your arm

Her flies buzz calmly, so much so it nearly sounds like she’s purring contentedly

You feel so happy, so calm

And still, her wet lips and the memory of her drinking from you has you feel somewhat guilty

Her family’s business is wine..she likes wine…and yet you haven’t as much as tasted it once

And the worst of it, to you?

She doesn’t even know…

“Dani?”

She hums in return, but when no answer follows, sits up slightly to look at you, despite her comfortable place at your neck

You decide, if somewhat spontaneous, you must tell her

“I don’t drink”, you whisper

She frowns in confusion

Then, she giggles, her nose scrunching up so adorably, you can’t help but smile

“You can’t drink my blood, silly”, she giggles

You almost whimper. No, that wasn’t what you meant

“No, love”, you coo

You explain again, this time she seems to understand a

And yet- she doesn’t get angry at all, or sad. She simply doesn’t understand why it bothers you

“Don’t worry, Cassie doesn’t drink either!”, she insists

You wonder if she lies to make you feel better or because she genuinely believes her older sister doesn’t drink aside from the blood wine that strengthens them all

Either way, though, it can’t help but make you feel better

You squeeze her tight, chuckling when she buries her face back in your neck

You love her so incredibly much

Donna

You don’t see her drink much outside of mealtimes, really

Therefore, you wouldn’t call her much of a drinker, much less an alcoholic

Though, you know wine is a part of her culture and something she generally enjoys, given the right time and combination with something else

She loves her usual with her meals, or mixed into some of it

It’s somewhat rare she uses it in her cooking, though, often opting for having it herself only

If you didn’t know better, you’d think she knows you don’t drink and isn’t sure whether this applies to wine used in cooking, too

If only you knew..

Of course, she picked up on it early on

Being quiet and having quite many dolls set up to give her multiple perspectives, Donna is not only great at reading people, but is very perceptive too

Now, she doesn’t know for sure, of course

She only knows she hasn’t ever seen you drink before, at any occasion

At the same time you’ve never actively said a thing, and have never asked her not to drink

This leaves her a little confused, admittedly, but just in case, she doesn’t add any alcohol to your drinks or meals

You haven’t quite picked up on that yet, or at the very least haven’t connected the dots just yet

You feel a little nervous though, not drinking when you know she enjoys herself a glass-

or even two, if she’s in the right mood

Today, it’s no different, when the two of you sit comfortably at the dining table

With Angie off to the side playing with some of the other dolls, you at last have Donna all to herself

You grin happily as she talks, her voice raspy and quiet from her lack of use to it, but slowly becoming more confident each day

As she talks, she occasionally tips the glass of wine to her lips

You envy the drops of wine making their way past her soft, bitten lips and inside her mouth

The food the two of you share is warm and comforting

She talks of how it reminds her of home, and you can’t help but think how nice it is to share a home with her, now

To be her home

With her glass set back on the table, she reaches across to hold your hand

You feel her squeeze it and give her softer, skilled hand a gentle squeeze back

Her voice, though soft and low, catches you a little off guard

“There is something I have been wanting to ask you, fiore, if now is a good time?”

You hum, then nod at her, then, because you can’t help yourself, add a verbal answer as well

“Of course, my love”

She looks as though she’s pondering on how to phrase her upcoming question, her dark eye set on the table, then flickering back to your face

“I’ve been curious; do you not enjoy the wine I serve with the food? I assure you, it’s one of Alcina’s best, and I can assure you there’s no blood in it”

You’re not entirely sure what to say at first

“Well?”, Angie pipes in, her shrill voice a sharp contrast to Donna’s

You jump at her voice, then giggle a little when Donna gently shushes the doll

You know, she doesn’t mean to rush you. Her body language and silence imply patience

You automatically squeeze her hand again, feeling your body heat up a little

“It’s not that I don’t enjoy your wine or cooking!”, you quickly reassure her

Then, when no answer comes from her, you reveal;

“I just, don’t think”, you whisper

You don’t expect her to be mad. You know she wouldn’t, won’t, be

You just don’t want her to think you don’t like her wine, specifically

As always, she understands, though

She sends you a soft smile

“Would you like to try some juice, then? The berries from the garden will soon be ready for harvesting”

Your wide smile matches hers

“I would love that”

Content Filters - Your New Best Friend!

I dont think we take advantage of content filters enough. So I'm putting together a little tutorial in case anyone isn't aware of them.

Now we may all be aware of tag filters, both via tumblr saviour and also tumblrs in built tag filtration system.

But that still runs into issues as some people just dont tag their posts, and therefore some posts will still find their way to the dashboards of people that dont want to see certain content that they have blocked.

If you are in a small fandom, sometimes popular content that you arent interested in can become quite prevailent and unavoidable even if you have tags blocked. But there IS a way to avoid that content regardless of whether people are tagging their posts or not

CONTENT FILTERS.

Content filters work by blocking certain words that appear in posts. If there is a certain thing that you really want to avoid, you can just block that word or phrase and boom! You'll never have to see it and everyone will be happier for it. If you don't know where the content filters are, I can show you. On tumblr mobile go to account settings:

Then scroll down to "content you see":

Here you will find the filtered tags:

And if you're anything like me you'll have a nice long list of blocked tags to curate your feed.

However if you just scroll down to the bottom of your blocked tags list, you'll find this:

Here is where you add words you wanna block. You can block trigger words, you can block things like "blood" if thats not your jam, you can block "omegaverse" if that gives you a squick, and you can also block ship names and names of whole fandoms if you find them annoying (blocking Supernatural may help with your mental health lmao).

It can be overzealous, so its best to block phrases more than random words as those words can be used in many contexts after all (which is why its excellent for blocking fandom ships as those are usually portmanteaus that wont appear in regular language). Blocking the word "omega" may be a bit too wide a net for instance, but blocking something like "omega Dream" will work wonders and calm those buldging temple veins.

Now this is just a tumblr app tutorial but I believe the content filters are in the same place on desktop. Its not hard to find them and I strongly suggest everyone uses them.

We all want to have a peaceful pleasant fandom experience, and as always, the best way to do that is to CURATE YOUR OWN SPACE. I'm someone who loves searching in the fandom tags, so I dont rely on following/unfollowing to curate my feed. I often expose myself to things in the tags i may prefer to avoid, or maybe I follow people for some content but dont wanna see other content they reblog. Either way, the content filters protect me from triggers, things that squick me out, and content I just find annoying.

Whilst we can all ask that people tag appropriately, it is never the OPs fault if you have seen something you don't want to see. You have all the tools available to you to avoid everything you dont like. Use them.

on a serious note though i really want to address this whole profile thing because it’s been a long running issue not just for creators but for regular users in general.

generally, hard block and report the bots on sight: it makes them pop up less for a while i figured, it’s exhausting but it works best. usually report for spam & explicit content.

as for blank blogs who are seemingly human…this is a psa to them: i appreciate that you want to keep up with the things we put out, and you want to support by giving us a follow, but it doesn’t really work that well

i get the need to use burner accounts for anonymity or something, but bffr, it’s tumblr. even if i have to check your account just to know that you’re a human being it’s not like i’ll actually stalk you and go past like 2 scrolls down your account 😭 trust me, no creator has that much time to be invested in some random follower. we only ever double check just to avoid bots and minors (which can kill our engagement)

to avoid getting blocked entirely i advise u guys to at least customize your accounts (put a silly little display pic!! put your age and pronouns in your bio i promise it can look aesthetically pleasing) because if you care enough about to make your account have a stray kids/seventeen adjacent username, i think it’s not far off to at least make yourself look decent in front of “your favorite user”

lastly, engage engage engage!! don’t just sit there and like posts occasionally. you can reblog! send an ask! reply! you can even organize the posts you reblog with tags.

ik you asked for advice but honestly it isnt supposed to be any users job to control smth that other users are doing themselves. the best we can do is block and hope that they at least try to change!

Anything given will go towards bills... I've been out of work far longer than I should have because I had every negative reaction to the surgery I had on my spine that I could have. My doctor wants me out for at least another two weeks, to another month. I'm not someone who usually asks for money and I really only put those complaints in the tags of that one post because I related to it so much and wanted to vent... Chronic pain is why I had the surgery and it has made it worse. Hopefully only temporarily, but we aren't sure yet.

I don't do commissions because I don't have faith that my writing will actually please someone enough for money... I'm just not that good. I'm so sorry!

hello! ok 1. i love your writing <3 found you from ao3. amazing work *round of applause* 2. i wanted to know how you recommend finding fics / fic recs or promoting your own work? i have heard a lot of ppl say that tumblr doesn’t rly discuss fanworks like they used to and most of that discussion (esp with writing) has moved to discord but i feel like from an outside perspective its hard to stumble upon unless you have friends in the server? idk just wanted to get your thoughts :) have a lovely day!

but to answer your questions, ill do it in 2 parts: one for fic recs and the other for fic promos.

theres a couple different ways i look for fics, and im sure both of these are the most common, but the first is using ao3's filter system. i can pare down any particular thing im looking for in a fic with the filter system ao3 runs on, and the tag wranglers (bless them) have made sure that even the vaguely worded tags end up where they need to be under the larger umbrella tag its associated with. you can also peruse the bookmarks of authors on ao3 in their profile and filter those fics down to specific fandoms or pairings or even timeframes it was written!

the second is a combination of using friends recommendations- publically or in private servers- and fic recs on tumblr, usually thru the ship tag (if im following the tag, and if the author chose to promote their fic on tumblr, or a fic rec blog promotes it as some fandoms do)

it also depends on how large the fandom is when you come into it, and what specifically you are looking for, but if you have friends in that fandom who keep bookmarks of their fav fics or know of ones youd enjoy, id recommend going to them if the tag system isnt providing quite what you're after, as id trust a friend over anything else (word of mouth literally is the best promo)

there are also sometimes fic rec blogs, who's entire modus operandi is promoting works at large, so following a few of those (if there are any) can help bring new content to your door as well

as for promoting your own work, you really kind of have the world before you. make a link post on tumblr with a similar tagline to the summary and tag it accordingly. share the link in discord with friends or in fandom spaces. share the link on twitter and tag it so it gets seen. ao3 is not a social media website, so as long as you are the most recent post in the tag, youll always be at the top. theres no algorithms there like there are on other socmed platforms, so really the choice is up to you how and where you want to promote it! reblog the link as many times as you want! its up to you!

and youre not entirely wrong that discussion of fanworks doesn't take place on tumblr anymore, but it really depends on the fandom youre in. i follow several authors and fic rec blogs for one fandom who do regular fic promos of other writers works and gush about them, but in the way that youll see a blurb in the jacket cover of a book. its really just to keep the content coming back to the top here, and helps bring to the surface fics that didnt get a lot of readers in the first run, perhaps bc its an older work or a lesser known pairing.

discussion about fandom works themselves has turned private namely for the sake of reducing drama and hurt feelings in public spaces, and i dont blame them. ive been in ficbook clubs on private servers that were some of the best times ive ever had bc we were allowed to talk freely about an authors work without airing our opinions out for all the world to see, and frankly i much prefer that style of discussion over public ones, but thats me and i cant speak for everyone.

theres also just been a steady shift away from author engagement on socmed bc of how easy it is for them to get hit by negativity there. the culture just isnt the same as it used to be for fic writers as it was in the last decade. hell, in the last year alone, youd be hard pressed to find an author who hasnt experienced some kind of harassment over the course of their career on socmed, if we're being honest. my honest advice to you is: if youre following an author you like, and u want to know more about how they use their creative process, ask them! they may not all answer these days, but it doesnt hurt to try! just be polite, thats all anyone can hope for.

Now im not gonna say 'dont feel bad pls' bc I know that's not really useful but what I do think is useful is just discussing why that anon and many others feel the need to respond that way. As someone who follows a lot of writing blogs myself and have done for a long time, i've seen my handful of favourite writers come and go for different reasons, lose motivation for a while, gain motivation for a while, go from multi to single fandom, or single fandom to multi. Often times as a reader it can be upsetting when things change but it's also important as a reader to understand that some things aren't in anyone's control, I can't control what my favourite writers become a fan of or lose interest of, I can't control things in their personal lives that may motivate or demotivate them to write, but what I can do is support them as long as they're active, and if they move on to do things i'm no longer interested in or i'm the one that changed interests, rather than being upset that they're evolving to do other things or that they're not evolving with me, I think it's important that I still feel thankful for the works that I enjoyed while we were still on the same page and this is how I personally deal with those negative feelings. I think the anons that lash out at you probably just dont know what to do with themselves, maybe they got attached to your works while you were still only a jjba blog and now that you're evolving they're upset, while I understand how they feel, they're going the completely wrong way about it. I've learned to take these things and turn them into something positive for myself or at least something bittersweet that I can move on from but the anons that lash out at you for whatever reason probably haven't learned this yet. Maybe it's because i've moved on and changed interests a lot myself that I know how these things go for both writers and readers but those anons maybe haven't experienced this as much so they dont know what to do with themselves other than complain that you've changed and throw insults at you in an attempt to get you to revert back. None of this is because of the quality of your writing like they want you to believe, it's literally just because you've evolved and while some of your old followers might not like the new content for no reason other than it not being their cup of tea, it's definitely not regressed at all. You are pumping out a lot of content right now but every single thing i've read has just been better than the last. Things that really stand out to me is how well you get characterisation down to a T and all of your dialogue is just on point and from the pov of a reader I think those things seem the hardest to get right so I am such a huge fan of your stuff at the moment and I can tell you're really putting so much thought and care into each and every fic no matter how fast you're producing it, I think the fact that you're also proud of what you're writing at the moment really shines through as well and I just adore the passion that radiates from every completed request as well as in the responses for the subsequent thirsts resulting from these works that appear in your ask box later (I know i've sent quite a few by now~)

Just to be clear i'm not defending those anons in any way, while I can understand what they might be feeling/why they're reacting in the way they are I still believe it's just so immature to be hateful online point blank. Even during a time where I still got upset with writers if they started doing something else I still never targeted that negativity directly to the writer and sending rude or hateful comments whether on anon or not never something i'd stooped low enough to do even when I still had an immature way of thinking, however, I hope that it might make it a little easier to brush them off if we try and understand what they're really upset about, and that they're just putting the blame for their negative feelings onto the wrong thing rather than coming to terms with change themselves.

hello anon!! i appreciate the long message. i do feel bad for people who have no interest in what i’m currently producing and i get that they feel upset about it; i’ve watched a lot of fellow jojo writers move on completely or just stop posting, honestly. this kind of thing is why i was so intense about asking people if it would be better if i made a separate blog but the resounding answer seemed to be ‘i’m just vibing with whatever happens and i’ll block tags as needed’. 

i often return to works by my favourite reader-insert writers who no longer write for the fandoms i like (and i read stuff bc it sounds interesting or i trust the person who writes it), but change can be difficult and i guess at this point i’ve - whether u like me or not lmao - been a fixture in jojo reader-insert tumblr for a While so it’s probably kind of jarring.

i’ve seen the discussion going back and forth on boundaries and sexual objectification, and i don’t have much to add to the conversation other than to say everyone is allowed to determine their OWN ‘lines’ and just because we don’t vocalize them doesn’t make them any less valid. but here’s the limits i set for my blog if anyone feels it is important for them to know (<3):

personally I consider ‘characters’ fair game for anything goes, with ‘public personas’ a little more iffy. ‘RPF’ isn’t new - it just takes on a new more accessible/visible form nowadays. i remember reading my first fic about a ‘real person’ back in my LOTR fandom days - it was a story in first person perspective about the main character meeting orlando bloom on a plane before he was ‘famous’. like a lot of these types of stories, it wasnt so much about the person as it was about the meet cute. the actor was just a convenient placeholder with a handsome face and some personality quirks thrown in to make the romance/dialogue more specific. i personally dont read much xReader fic nowadays, but mostly only cause i’m an old fart who can’t relate to the ‘you’ format. i miss the good old days when people actually created OC’s and then inserted them into things LOL. but also LOL if you think i’ve gone an entire year of quarantine without some imagined personal fantasies of joe mazzello (or steve aoki in the years before)(ramilicious can attest to this. she can also attest to most of these fantasies ending in friendship rather than anything explicit cause that’s just how i roll these days lol). the line i draw is i would never post these types of fics in a place where the subject could accidentally find them - you have to go looking for this stuff on tumblr, most fics are given explicit ratings and under read-mores. with the blacklist tags it’s pretty easy to filter things out. its even easier to add filters to ao3 searches. i am NOT going to do something like message steve aoki and say ‘yeah i watched that movie Ibiza like five times, here is my 1k fic where you’re the dj and i’m the one night stand’. but obviously people still enjoy imagining scenarios like these otherwise movies like Ibiza wouldn’t exist?

for art, i consider anything already on display up for grabs, we all know a certain person’s ass is all over the place...all you have to do is google ‘need for speed’ and rami’s name. HOWEVER, in the case of actors i personally would not draw anything more explicit than what’s already there. i’m not gonna draw full frontal nudity for rami (unless he gifts us with it in a movie, i suppose) or anyone. this is 100% a personal choice for me. 

i was a sophomore or junior in college when i volunteered as a figure drawing monitor where i’d time the nude model’s poses and help them set up the stage and lighting and such. there was this one guy in his mid forties probably, a regular who came every week, and i always thought of him fondly till one day (the day after i ran into my Hot Programming TA during dinner and later sent him an email begging him to go on a date with me because i was desperate for kissing experience)(and Hot Programming TA emailed me back within minutes saying yes) this artist guy who i saw all the time and thought i knew fairly well, decided to draw me instead of the model. which would have been fine except he drew me naked. i was NOT naked at the time, i was wearing a shirt, and a bra, and a full prairie skirt with alternating calico and floral patterns. he drew what he imagined was underneath all that. he came up to me after the figure drawing session and showed me his drawings and told me i had been ‘glowing’ and my response was to laugh it off awkwardly and get the hell out of there as soon as i gave the model their pay check. but inwardly i was thinking a) i was NOT glowing for this creepy man twice my age and b) i did NOT give him consent to sexualize my body under my clothes and then SHOW me that objectification. i never said anything to him or anything else, i continued to be the monitor, and i continued to field off creepy advances from him including multiple job offers, but when i finally realized i could just...stop..and i passed the student volunteer monitor job on to my friend naeem, i also realized that what that older male artist did was NOT ok in my book. and it was probably not something he would do while naeem was monitoring.

nowadays im working in an industry that regularly objectifies female bodies. in the past year alone i have had to deal with requests to make breasts bigger, i have been given character rigs that in addition to the usual elbow, knee, and spine joints also have ‘nipple’ joints but ONLY for the women (to make them jiggle for animation), every time i send out a female pose i get it back with notes that push it further into the sexy type of body language reserved for women (twist the spine more! sway the back more! give it ‘energy!’), i have been told to erase wrinkles and fat and pores but ONLY for the women (men you ADD pores bc realism! and manliness!) and this is all me working for a company that is actually fairly progressive in terms of sexism compared to OTHER studios.

like it or not, sexual objectification is a huge part of specifically women’s lives and how we react to that is our business. for me, turning the tables and putting men on display feels like fair’s fair. i cant stop the men from doing it, so if i want to enjoy sexualizing male bodies, damn it im gonna! like dang it, boy do i want to send steve aoki a thank you note every time he posts a video of himself doing those ice baths during the sunset golden hour bc holy shit gorgeous or working out in his gym wearing VERY little clothes, but i dont because i know what its like when someone imposes their personal fantasies on the subject. or, god, there was that time i had to unfollow nicole’s insta for a while bc i had a very explicit dream about her and realized, shit, i need to take a break and get my emotions under control before i can refollow. and god some of the stuff i see dudes sending her during her live videos on mental illness/meditation is TOTALLY gross and not something they should be confronting her with. and she’s not even ‘famous’ famous. or how some fans send their idols explicit direct messages without consent. THAT feels inappropriate to me.

a part of me feels like i shouldn’t have to defend this. men don’t. they’re even encouraged in mass media to sexualize women. but i also recognize the importance of talking about consent. the importance of recognizing that a celebrity deserves to have their boundaries respected. these are my lines in fandom. other people have different lines they won’t cross, and that’s okay to me. i block or blacklist any blogs or tags i think go over the top.

heck, even in fandom-only spaces i still try to keep my own more sexual fantasies off this blog and only in private messages with my friends and mutuals, and i feel like that might come across as unintentionally prudish or judgmental sometimes. i’m not ‘horny on main’ very often. but like...every time i reblog that particular ‘washing machine’ gif of joe mazzello am i thinking about him naked and thinking about how he’s got very loooooong feet, and ‘gee i wonder if that means /other/ things are Too Big for my tastes’ but also ‘gosh wouldnt that make a pretty picture to draw’???? hell yeah.

it's happened in the past- quite a while ago now and a url ago or so, but it deserves being mentioned 'cause it was creepy as heck at the time!

a person or persons memorizing my queue schedule so that they can interact with me.

i'm not talking about messaging someone when they're clearly active because that's all normal, friend and mutual stuff! what i mean specifically is if i posted outside of my regular queue schedule before i had started using any kind of tag for it whatsoever this person would message me on tumblr and discord- i'm sure if they'd had access to any of my other social medias it would have been the same way.

and i do not mean i was reblogging posts and chattering in the tags like a madman as i usually do. i mean i literally just reblogged an extra post or two, one eye open, just barely awake, trying to struggle through the first moments of the morning and? suddenly here come the messages on more than one/multiple platforms.

at some point we really had a lovely mutual friendship and i really enjoyed our threads and world building, so it really sucked losing this person in that sense, but?? taking the time to first of all figure out what my schedule was and then set it to memory? that's... a little much and more than my spouse would do, you know?

it's honestly probably not that hard to figure out my schedule, especially with the way timestamps work these days where you can just hover over a post corner, but?? to even think to do it is just? weird as can be, I feel like. maybe i am wrong, but ughh it creeped me right tf out when i realized what was happening

i dont care if we're friends or mutuals or whatever and we tell each other hi or good morning when either of us wakes up- hell idc if i get messages when i'm not here, or on discord or more if i have give you that information!! that is all normal as fuck!! but that queue memorization stuff is super super not! and creepy as heck in my opinion.

I can't decide if I like Magnus as A and Alec as B or the other way around Like we could have DomAlec vibes (although we always have that, and also stating the fact that Magnus is not weak at all, he probably can do more harm than Alec could ever do) or Magnus being a f u c k i n g badass (which we also see, but like, you get it) What's your headcanon, if you'd like to share it?👀👀👀

this ask is lowkey old but anyway I'm torn idndkdndkssnsk like on the one hand i can see both being the "holds person's face tenderly and cleans blood from their lips and asks who did this to them" guy, but on the other, i can see neither of them being the bloody one

i mean they're both very powerful and strong and highly skilled and trained, not to mention put themselves in danger regularly, so if one of them gets home bloody, but overall well, the other knows that whoever did it to them is long gone lmao not that they arent protective of each other because they sure as fuck are, but the vibe is different. unless they are really hurt, badly so, i cant see it happening

if they're really hurt, like, bedridden kind of hurt, then i guess it can go either way. neither of them is knocked out easily so they'd both be mad and desperate if the other ended up in such a situation. i guess they'd both wake up and see that the other is there, holding their hand, tenderly stroking their face, or (in magnus' case) healing them. them the not hurt one would be like "what happened? are you okay?" and fuss over them, but then, once it was clear the other was okay, be like "okay, so tell me. who did this to you"

i tend to think that Alec would have higher "going after whoever it was and absolutely destroying them" instincts than Magnus, because I mean. we've seen it in canon. homeboy was 100% like "I'm going to kill him" not kidding at all when Lorenzo took Magnus' home. Alec is a solve problem first, think about emotional support later kind of guy (well he was trained as a soldier after all) whereas Magnus is usually more focused on the person who was hurt, and later he'll figure out what to do to stop that from happening again. Alec no thoughts Lightwood, on the other hand, would stalk to their home before even knowing what he's gonna do if he finds them

but also i tend to think that if Alec was hurt, it would be more likely to be a Big Bad Villain than like, one shitty person. for many reasons - hes not only a shadowhunter, but a lightwood, meaning hes shielded and protected because of his position of privilege and power, he usually is at the institute unless there's some big bad guy out there, and even when he is out in the field, he's an archer so he has leverage in regular battles. Magnus is by no means a weak damsel in distress getting hurt left and right, but we've seen him be tortured in canon twice, he's a warlock, and a stupidly brave one, at that. his enemies have more means to get to him, physically, than Alec's, simply because he's a downworlder and so he's not really protected. also I'm angry now

anyway to get a little softer i just want to say tho that im an absolute whore for Magnus or Alec getting home, not badly hurt, but slightly, like a split lip or bloody knuckles, nothing they cant handle, maybe they dont even really feel it. but the other sees, and even if they wont go all "who did this to you" protective mode, they just take care of each other. kiss their knuckles or shit, apply some balm for them (or, in Magnus' case, heal with magic), tell them to take care of themselves, to not just go around hurt without even healing themself/using an iratze, like come on. and its another way of protectiveness and caring thats really great and sweet

also, i know u asked about malec specifically but when i reblogged that post i was lowkey thinking about magnus and raphael, so I'll take this opportunity to wax poetic about it. we've seen the way Magnus reacted when Alec punched Raphael, how his magic turned red, how pissed he was, and then how tenderly he held Raphael's face. we've also seen him taking care of Raphael after aldertree tortured him, although obviously he had more pressing matters in hand. and we haven't had the chance to see protective Raphael over Magnus, but i can definitely see it

and like Magnus knows that Raphael has a tendency not to defend himself if he's attacked and it's not life threatening tbh (we've seen that with Alec, like okay he was high but even when he was high he was never "can't move" kind of high and he has superspeed and strength and he didnt even try to get Alec off him. a part of Raphael seems to believe he deserves it if he's attacked or hurt, plus there's the hardcore self harm thing) so he'll absolutely see Raphael with a black eye and immediately ask who did that, take care of him, be all soft, but he'd 100% come for them later, because well, if Raphael isnt going to make sure hes not hurt, someone has to. and same goes for raphael, because he might not defend himself, but he'll always defend others and he can be viciously protective (i mean, he has to, in his situation) so if he ever saw Magnus hurt, no matter how minor? he'd stalk the offender the ends of hell to end them. "dont ever threaten my family again" indeed

Molly Hooper Appreciation Week Spring 2019 Round!

(I know I usually have a Molly graphic but I’m borrowing this laptop and Phtotshop is being a pain so improvisation with a stock photo I had.)

We’re are definitely doing a round this year, but for the first time, there is only one themed day! My own personal New Year’s resolution this year is to clean out my Tumblr inboxes of as many fic prompts as I can, and I thought that this might be a good thing to extend to others as well. Hence our 2019 Free For All Round! The one and only theme day we will have will be the usual Valentine’s Day/Galentine’s Day/Singles Awareness Day prompt, but this year, it will be optional, as are the prompts below. It will run from February 10th, 2019 to February 16th, 2019.

As I said, this is a Free For All round, which means the entire week you can post whatever Molly-centric fan creations you want. However, as some people like prompts, these are character-centric prompts of people you can include in the fics, as well as our regular February prompt:

Day 1 - The Holmes Family (anything involving Sherlock, Mycroft, Eurus or their parents) 

Day 2 - The Watsons (anything involving John, Mary, Rosie or Harry)

Day 3 - The Yarders (anything involving Lestrade, Sally, Dimmock, Stella or  Anderson)

Day 4 - The Baddies (anything involving Moriarty, Moran, Magnussen, Culverton or any one shot villains)

Day 5 - Valentine’s Day/Galentine’s Day/Singles Awareness Day (any fic involving these holidays celebrated in February)

legitimate advice for new phandom blogs

hey !! so i know sometimes posts like ‘RULES FOR THE PHANDOM XD’ are made and they’re all like “numba one. dan is a squishy bean respect this uwu” but this isn’t gonna be like that lol. im just going to list a few actual things that might help people new to the phandom learn about and become integrated into the community! of course these aren’t ‘rules’ and u dont have to listen to any of it ofc,,, im not here to control ur blog, just here to say what people normally do. feel free to rb whether u are a new blog or not, ill appreciate it either way!

1. be interactive! 

here, unique to our corner of timmy darn communism, we have a lot of like virtual traditions that everyone knows. these help you to make friends and also grow ur blog with some new mutuals. here are some examples.

networks: networks, or nets, are a sort of selective gc, usually with a theme or concept that it’s based around, in which all who wish to be part of fill out an application form that determines whether they get in. this is kinda the one with the most work, as u also have to make a group blog and info post, but it’s definitely worth it. i have made my closest friends in nets (such as @phleurnet which i birthed), and a lot of people on here would say the same. if you want to know more or apply, my friend diana runs an update blog @phandomnets! (examples, these are all open btw: x x x)

meetups: meetups are not in real life, don’t worry. a meetup is when someone organizes a specific time at which we all post thing around a certain theme! for instance, on halloween on tuesday, my friend milo hosted a halloween meetup. usually people post selfies but if u are uncomfortable with that, u can post art, music, or anything else related to the theme. a blog called @phandommeetupwatch keeps track of these! (examples, all happening soon/just happened: x x x)

follow forevers: a follow forever is a big celebration post when u reach a follower count milestone, no matter 50 or 5k. u tag all of the blogs you love, and they reblog it to appreciate u! it’s really positive and shows people how their work has paid off. usually people are tagged in alphabetical order, and sometimes people bold their favorites but the stylization is up to u. (recent examples: x x x)

milestone activities: sometimes people do things for their followers when they reach a follower count that involves their followers requesting something! there are many many forms of this type of thing. a common one is blog rates, in which there is a set template and the blogger rates each blog that sends in an ask using the template (info post ex: x; rate ex: x). there are also url edits (x), name/url moodboards (x), and more. u can certainly come up w an idea of ur own, being creative is great!

talk to people: that’s right dude!!! ye!!! u can message a blog u think is cool, or send an ask if u think something they made or are talking about is interesting, or add something sweet in the tags (more on etiquette later) when u rb their post. additionally, sometimes people stir up discourse, and u should participate in it if u want (past discourse examples: x x). u can also send asks when people reblog ask games, which are a list of questions with a theme (new one of mine ex: x). 

2. play around with your blog!

customizing your blog can start giving you what we call a branding, making you distinguished from other bloggers. this can include everything from as simple as using an icon to coding your own about page. 

themes: a blog can be way more appealing if it is aesthetically pleasing. admittedly, i often follow people just because of the smoothness of their mobile theme. a mobile theme is rather easy to construct as u can do it on ur own with a phone. it is how ur blog looks on a phone. although u don’t have to do this, i recommend sticking to two to four colors on ur theme and avoiding stuffing it with a lot of bright things because it can distract from content. additionally, bloggers often make their descriptions short and succinct. (my fav mobiles: x x x.) on a pc, your blog theme can be customized completely on html, meaning there is a lot of freedom. u don’t have to learn to code for this, bc u can find free themes anywhere, just search ‘free tumblr themes’ on google. once again, be creative, but u shouldn’t overload. (my fav pcs: x x x.)

about pages: in order to avoid chunky descriptions but still let people know the key deets about themselves, bloggers create about pages. sometimes these bout pages are uncoded but u can also use html code if u want to. some common things in an about page are interests, maybe personality types/horoscopes/hogwarts houses, original content, and links to other social media. (examples: x x x)

urls: urls are a key part of your blog’s brand. ‘rebranding’ is what people say if they change their url! if u are tired or bored with your url, changing it is an opportunity to change your theme and other parts of ur blog as well. (url change ex: x). 

saved urls: saved urls are basically when bloggers hoard sideblogs in order to reserve the urls used for them. if you ever encounter a blank blog that has ‘saved’ as its title, that’s probably it. sometimes people like to give away their urls, either as a constant thing (ex: x) or by doing a url giveaway (x). either way, it’s a good opportunity to change it up!

tags: in order to keep their blog cleancut and organized, a lot of bloggers have special tags for certain people, certain topics, and/or certain types of media. many people in the phandom particularly have tags for dan and phil that match (strawberries and cream, lune and sole, etc). if they have many of these tags, there can be a page for their tags on their blog. this page can be coded with special html or just a regular tumblr page, it doesn’t really matter. but it’s very useful for those who visit your blog, and makes it easy for u to navigate older posts as well! (examples: x x x)

3. learn to make og content!

producing original content helps you establish what your strengths are and why people should follow you. it also allows u to contribute to the fanbase, and gives u a chance of being noticed by dnp! and the validation is lovely. there are many options if u want to make something. 

gifs: gifs are an ART here in the phandom, and its mechanisms still perplex me to this day bc ive never tried it. u probably already know what a gif is, but if not, its essentially a short animation made in photoshop that repeats. gifmakers are often distinguished by a unique coloring (example gifmakers: x x x), such as my friend emily’s smooth dark blue tint (x). it can be a long process to learn how to gif but it is very rewarding in the end, from what i’ve heard. (tutorials: x x)

art: there is a very wide range of phanartists, all with such talents, either digital or traditional, that you can draw inspirations from for your own work. you can make cartoons, comics, realism, abstract, nsfw even, or any mix (or none) of the former. artists on tumblr definitely deserve more attention than they get here on tumblr, so be sure to show appreciation towards them! (my fav artists: x x x)

edits: edits are the Graphic Designs of our community and are usually very aesthetically pleasing. they can be centered around a certain event, like a video or something dnp made, or just for fun. the more practice you get making them, the more dexterous u’ll become. they can be a great tool if u like the design aspect of art but don’t want to actually draw. (edit makers: x x)

icons: icons are just the little profile picture that u can insert for ur blog. it’s really easy and fun to make them, kind of like a lazy version of edits. you can make them using photoshop or an app like picsart or medibang, and it doesn’t take a lot of time. more on how to use icons in section 4. (examples: x x x) (my lil tutorial: x)

moodboards: moodboards are nine pictures arranged 3 by 3 that have a certain color scheme. it’s kind of like a collage except the photo feature here separates the pictures for u. there are a lot of innovative moodboard makers that stun me w how pretty it looks or how they arrange the pics. moodboards are also an easy and fun option! (moodboard tags: x x x)

textposts: this is by far the easiest and more common form of content u will find. it’s just writing about dnp in a textpost! if a textpost isn’t very serious, people also call it a meme or shitpost. shitposting is defs on the rise here so its a good business to get into. it’s also a great outlet for ur emotions or personal connections to what dnp do! (example talk tags: x x x)

fics: by far the most famous media to come out of here, phanfiction is a popular form of phan indulgence. u have probably heard of the most scarring ones (list: x), but there is actually a really vast range of it, not just creepy smut! some other genres are fluff, angst, and slow burns. u will discover that, despite the sterotype, not all fanfiction is bad. you can find lovely fics on @phanfictioncatalogue by genre, au, or topic. and, if u need help writing something, many writers would love to help. (a few well-known fics: x x x x x)

4. tumblr etiquette!

i know tumblr might seem like a simple social media (or perhaps not after u’ve read all the above?) but there’s a lot of things that u just....u just don’t do. it’s sort of like virtual manners, and if u don’t follow them, then it’s unlikely that people will like ur blog. once again, this is by no means me forcing u to run ur blog a certain way. it just happens that the types of ppl who break these rules are who we mock in gcs :////////. so yea, here’s some advice.

credits: if u decide to use someone’s art, edit, gif, or icon on the theme of ur blog, check what they require of u before u use it. most content creators strongly ask for credit in the description of ur blog, either by link or like ‘icon/header/art by ____’. it is just a common courtesy to the person who spent time on that, and if u think credit will ruin the aesthetic of ur blog, a) u probably don’t have an aesthetic in the first place and b) learn to appreciate art, binch. 

anonymity: anon asks can be very powerful either negatively or positively depending on how u yield them, so make sure that u are careful with what u send. compliments are always welcome and criticism as well, but blatant rudeness or hate will do nothing. u will only make someone feel bad about themselves and it will not accomplish anything. also, u face the threat of all their friends turning u into a meme. 

sensitivity: a lot of people here are way too easily offended by harmless jokes, a common example in the phandom being when we insult dnp affectionately and people take it way too much to heart. please don’t start drama over something w no real meaning. however, there are times when it is indeed necessary. if u want to criticise a blogger, be respectful of them simultaneously. by all means, if u spot someone being racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, or the like, feel free to call them out on it. but beforehand, make sure that u have done ur research and are educated on the topic, or u could turn out to be blatantly wrong. 

adding to posts: everyone makes this mistake when they start out here and that’s totally okay, but adding to every post u reblog is incredibly bothersome. a rule of thumb would be don’t add anything unless what u say will actually improve the post significantly. if ur additions are along the lines of ‘LOL’ or ‘i relate!!!!’ or ‘philly is a smol bean XD’, learn to use the tags for heaven’s sake. they’re there for not only organization but also for commenting. some exceptions, though, would be if u are mentioned in the post or the op is your close friend.

my moms an underpayed teacher and my dad has to pay for my grandfather's medical stuff. i need help.

♒ - i love t100. i think the show premise is super interesting, and i love the rp community i think we have some of the sweetest muns i’ve ever met in it. however --- i think there is a vast part of the community that over glorifies quite a few of the characters ( clarke, lexa, octavia and bellamy specifically ) and i think it’d be good to take a step back and just like accept the characters for who they are they’re great characters ??? you don’t need to glorify them ??? they’re already great ??? all ur doing is taking away their flaws, which btw helps ??? to make them great characters ????
