Six Sentence Saturday/Sunday
Thank you to those that tagged me!!! This one comes from that damn IKEA fic that I will finish this year if my life depends on it!!
---
The alcohol has him maudlin, and he surveys his empty room with its generic furniture and its generic artwork, somehow mystified with the utter soullessness of every hotel room heâs ever had to live and work out of. How can a room that must have seen every sordid and tragic act still remain so lifeless, he wonders. Before he can think better of it, he already has his phone out and has Arthur on dial. He winces when he sees the time and moves to hang up, but finds the call is already answered. âEames?â Arthur's voice comes from the speaker, croaky with sleep. âSorry, love," he slips a hand over his eyes, "didnât mean to wake you. Didnât realise the time.â
-----
#i think thats seven sentences but shh look away#this fic you guys#the stupid thing is that its actually finished but ive scared myself out of editing because it needs another 5k added to it OR cut from it#and i can't put my finger on which it is#anyway#i am loving this#we should make this a weekly thing#inception#arthur x eames#six sentences#or seven as it were shhhh#also if you see this consider yourself tagged#dooo it

yk how in veres likes on his character sheet it says he like cooking (badly)âŚâŚ WHY HAS NO ONE DONE A FIC ABOUT THAT YETâźď¸âď¸âď¸ THAT SHOULD NOTTT BE A WASTED OPPORTUNITY. iâm not even joking im ab to send this to so many people because i canât let this go to waste đ
Here u are anon! For the record, you are completely free to send this prompt around wherever youâd like! It was such a fun idea, Iâd love to see more takes on it. ^^
Warnings: Vere talking Innuendos? Innuendos. So many, and I donât guarantee that they are funny lol. Just a general silly vibe and imo: absolutely tooth rotting fluff.
â§âË â
đđŠ â§âË â
SOUS CHEF â§âËâĄâË
You find yourself wandering through Lowtown during the lunch hour, trying to decide what sounds like a good meal.
Your mouth waters at the scents being carried on the breeze, a plethora of pleasant aromas wafting out of the eateries nestled inside the Amaryllis District, so fragrant that you can smell them all the way down on the bustling streets of Lowtown as long as you stay downwind.
However, if thereâs one nice thing about knowing Leander it's that you also know you donât have to go that far (or spend that much) for a delicious lunch.Â
Near enough to the Wet Wick, thereâs a series of side streets that make up an eclectic amalgamation of Lowtown and the Amaryllis District, and in it: a small and inconspicuous eatery. The menu changes often, though you arenât sure if thatâs out of innovation or necessity, but the food is always filling and reasonably priced.
You follow the winding streets, getting lost for a brief moment before correcting your course, traveling until you see colorful chipped girih tiles and wide, clean windows. You let yourself into the shop, the now familiar sound of hinges in need of an oiling welcoming you. Â
Thereâs an assortment of goods on displayâjars of honey and spiced fruit and loaves of braided bread with seedsâall kept safely locked away beneath an enchanted pane of glass.
Looking around, though, you donât see anyone selling said fantastic wares.
You call out, expecting the shop keep or her wife to come running but instead you hearâŚsilence.
Followed by a loud metallic clatter.
You freeze, unsure what to do, what the threat isâif thereâs even a threat?âbut before you can make up your mind, youâre greeted by a most unexpected sight.
Vere comes out of the kitchen area, his hair swept into an artfully stunning up-do that reveals the long line of his neck and clavicle, blemished only by the heavy collar locked around his throat.Â
Heâs wearing a weighty linen apron over his clothing, presumably to protect his outfit, thoughâhis long gossamer sleeves are completely discordant with the notion, making you think that maybe the apron is more of an aesthetic choice.
âWhatâs thisâ? A mouse? In my kitchen?â Vere asks playfully as you continue to stare, dumbfounded. He wields a spatula in his hand like a weaponâswatching it into his off-hand like a riding crop with a decisive snap.
âWhere isâ?â
ââThe shop keep? Wherever she pleasesâthe shopâs closed on Mondays.â
(You really donât like the way heâs watching youâŚÂ Or the way he keeps inching closerâŚ)
You take a step backwards, your eyes never leaving his. âOh,â you say, bandaged hands reaching blindly behind you. âI didnât realize. The door was unlocked, soâŚâ You trail off.
You find the doorknob at last. You attempt to turn it only to find that it wonât budge.
âWas it?â
Vere saunters up to you, tail swaying behind him. You manage to tear your eyes away from his predator stare to search for possible exits, though you know for a fact you wonât be fast enough.  You look back and heâs already in your space, crowding you against the entryway.
(He smells really good, actually. Like leather and spice and the subtle cling of perfume and incense. And beneath that, somethingâearthyâanimalistic, but in a way thatâs intoxicating as opposed to unpleasant.)
âI was just about to make myself a snackâhow nice that a snack came to me.â
âStop playing around.â You try to steel yourself and inject the perfect amount of scolding into your voice while combating his heated stare. âI know youâre just fucking with me to try and get a reaction; you and I both know youâre not going to eat me.âÂ
If he was, he would have done it by now. Sometime within the weeks youâve known him. âŚProbably.Â
Unless he just likes to play with his food.
âI didnât realize you knew me so well,â he says, looking amused. âPerhaps I didnât plan to, but now I simply canât resist. You look so absolutely delectable, how could I possibly contain myself?â
You donât get the chance to reply. Vereâs countenance changes suddenlyâyou watch his ears flatten a second before you hear the screaming whistle of a teapot. His ears twitch in annoyance at the sound, his perfectly sculpted face showing a sour sneer. He gives you a sideways glance, calculating.
âThen again. I find myself in need of a sous chef. Congratulations on your promotion. Come along now.â He hooks a finger into your cloak and pulls you easily into the kitchen. (To be fair, you donât struggle. Anyone would want to see where this is going, right?)
He releases you once youâve crossed over the threshold, waving his fingers uncaringly towards a second apron affixed to a hook on the wall as he beelines to remove a glass teapot from the stove and stifle the noise. He moves quickly as you watch, casually throwing aside the spatula in his hand in favor of an ornate silver teaspoon. He measures a vibrantly colored tea into the inlaid steeping container of the equally ornate teapot and takes a pleased inhale as the teaâs fragrance blooms, humming as he flips over a delicate hourglass to keep track of the steeping time.
Thereâs silence for a momentâ
Him watching the teapot and you watching him.
âWell?â He asks, without looking up. Youâve seen this look before, you think â this pensive, almost lonesome look that makes your heart ache against all better judgment. âStaying or going?â
He grins when you put on the apron. You search his face for some sincerity, but heâs all sharp teeth and tall ears, covering any glimpses of deeper emotion with a sheen of smugness. He circles you once you have the apron on, taking in the image.
âMm, donât you just look adorable. Very domesticated.â
Youâre pretty sure that the word heâs looking for is domestic. But of course, he knows what he said and he meant to say it. You decide that heâs probably betting on your correction, already armed with a witty retort. You smooth the apron down while pointedly looking away, deciding that you wonât give him the satisfaction. You hear him chuckle.
Since youâre avoiding looking at Vere, you look around the kitchen for the first time.
Itâs a spacious workspaceâmoreso than the storefront, even. Thereâs a large iron stove unlike anything youâve ever seen, covered with magical runes and dials, with a large hearth built into the belly of it. A plethora of pots and pans have been placed on the burners, left to sizzle and pop in the red hot heat. Â
Oil is singing from the heated, shallow basins but you donât see anything cooking inside. Â
Thereâs a slab of meat diced into neat squares and a heaping bowl of lumpy batter set to the side of the stove top.
âWhat are you making?â You ask, trying to make sense of the scene.
âPanko crusted fish filet. And thereâs a pasta in the oven. For dessert, I was thinkingââ he gives you a sly look, one that makes your ears feel warm, âhmm, well. I just had a much better idea in regards to dessert.â He makes a show of licking his fangs, the movements of his tongue slow and sensual.
You think you tied your apron too tight; your airway is feeling a little constricted. It seems to be getting worse the longer you watch.
You clear your throat, tearing your eyes away. More ingredients, most partially prepared, and a host of dirtied pots and pans greet you. You turn your back to him as you explore, fully engrossed in all of the views that the mess of a kitchen has to offer. Youâre almost afraid to ask: âSo, what am I here to help with?â
âOh?â You donât hear Vere come up next to you, but you feel him brushing up against you. âDoes my darling sous chef requireâŚinstruction? A guiding hand, so to speak?â You freeze, feeling his breath against your ear, shivers running down your spine at his light and teasing chuckle.
But then heâs breezing past you, making a wide dramatic gesture toward the large tome perched surreptitiously on the counter. âLucky for you, Iâve a recipe.â His tail wags swishes elegantly behind him as he beams with pride.
His tail knocks the whisk out of the mystery batter beside the fish filet but he takes no notice.
Vere hops gracefully up onto the counter, reaching for the batter. He does an impressive twist in order to grab hold of another whisk and you take the time to appreciate that. Then, with Vere occupied and seemingly ignoring you, you take a look at the recipe book. Â
The text is old and withered with the occasional dash of sprawling spidery script painting the margins. (Said writing is utterly illegibleâyouâre actually not sure if itâs in a language you can read, though if you squint you think you can see something that looks like the word âcakeâ.) The page itâs opened to is ripped in half, rendering precious steps of the recipe lost to time. You spot a mysterious bite mark piercing through the corner of the leather cover.
And canât stop yourself from surreptitiously glancing over at Vere. Heâs moved on from the batter (which looks as lumpy as it did a minute ago) and is now eating skewers of raw fish with his nails.
âYouâre not supposed to eat while you cook,â you say, the time worn words out of your mouth before you can examine your personal stance on them.
âSays who? Some limp dick? No shame in indulging, pet.â
âYouâre not even gonna have anything left to cook,â you warn.
âHum, sounds like my sous chef should get to work covering them in batter instead of just standing there before I eat them all.â
You roll your eyes, but follow through with instructions. The space is unfamiliar and your movements are slow and unsure with Vere looming over you from his perch on high, watching.
One of the pans of oil gives an ominous pop. âHmm, sounds like itâs hot enough,â says Vere. âMove over.â
âIs that safe?â
âFor me,â Vere says simply. âAnd itâs faster. Now stand further back or you'll get splatteredâand not in the fun way.â Idly, he tosses a batter covered filet into the shallow pan. The resulting hiss makes you both cringe.
As if on queue, the hourglass for the tea gives a gentle chime, lighting up with a golden glow. (Youâre beginning to wonder how this humble shop can afford all these magical items, but then again this is the city of secrets. Youâre probably better off not knowing.) Vereâs ears perk up, pleased. He tosses the remaining fillets in the pan without a fuss, setting lids on top of each to contain the oil, acting as if doing so is going to stop any potential disaster.
Main course forgotten, he moves on to digging something out from inside one of the many cupboards. âBe a dear and cut this for me, will you?â He hands you a delicate peach before heading to the tea pot, stirring the contents and adding what must be a priceless amount of honey.
The peach in your hand is overripe but still vibrantâamazing, as you havenât seen fresh fruit at all since you came to Eridia. Your mouth waters anew as you remember what led you here in the first placeâyour quest for a mealâand youâre almost tempted to take a bite, follow Vereâs advice and sink your teeth in.
âMy, my. Iâm almost jealous. I thought you only looked at me like that.â
Vere shushes the denial from your lips, bossing you around regarding how he wants the peach sliced before shooing you out of his way and finishing his remaining tea preparations, with the look of an artist at work. The tea is a warm oolong color, made only more alluring once the infusion of peach is complete.
Itâs refreshing, too, once Vere serves it to you over ice.
You can almost ignore the great plumes of smoke coming from the oven.
Vere cooks how others might enjoy a leisurely stroll.Â
Which is to say, he seems to be having fun, but youâre not convinced he intends on really going anywhere. Still, thereâs a rhythm to itâa dance, though he leads you in expected loops and turns, changes the tune at a moment's notice. Heâll get bored of the task at hand and find some new spice to peruse, demand you taste test an ingredient or give your opinion on a dizzying new flavor heâs concocted.
(He manages to convince you to sample a bit of cucumber soup from the cold box. You retch, proclaiming it salty, downing another glass of delicious peach oolongâ
âI can still taste it in the back of my throatâŚ!ââand he cackles wildly.)
Thick locks of hair are falling out of his up-do by the time heâs satisfied, framing his face and bringing your attention, again to the inviting line of his clavicle. He tosses his loose hair over his shoulder, preening.
The recipe book is basically ruined, and the pasta is null and void, but some of the fillets look mildly edible. The artful garnish is beautiful, at least. The kale and orange slices really bring out the crispy burnt bits. Vere seems to enjoy plating the food a great deal, humming and rearranging and circling the display until he deems it arranged to perfection.
Heâs elegant when he takes a bite, biting down with a crunch. His tail goes very still for a moment, then shivers microscopically as he chews. He swallows in a manner that you can only describe as dignified, dabbing his lips with a napkin. You wait in anticipation, but Vere says nothing for a long time. Then, he quietly takes the old recipe book and throws it away.
Thankfully, he doesnât insist on you trying it too.
You end up snacking on some of the pre-made goods, drinking the remaining tea and lounging at one of the shopâs cozy little tables. The mood is light and easy, and the view is magnificent. Outside, thereâs nothing but trash littered streets and urchins, but insideâŚthe afternoon glow coming from the window illuminates Vere like a sunset, painting him in dazzling shades of gold and red and bronze.
Vere hums, peering at you pointedly through his sooty lashes. âSo, dessert?â
You canât imagine the look that comes across your faceâwhatever it is, it makes Vere laugh.
âWhat are you giving me that look for? My intentions are pure.â His voice is a masterclass in syrupy false-innocence. âAs clean as Leanderâs bed sheets afterââ
âPlease donât finish that sentence and give me any mental images,â you beg. âI have to sleep there tonight, Iâd rather not know.â
âIgnorance is bliss.â Vere agrees, closing his eyes and appearing to bask in the sun for a moment. His face does something that you donât quite catchâsome hidden expressionâbut then, heâs smiling easily. He must really be relaxed if he can still smile seconds after thinking about Leander. Youâre still admiring him when the shadows against the walls flicker, and suddenly he isnât sitting next to you any more.
Instead, heâs returning from the kitchen, a tray in hand.
He sets it down in front of you, revealing an assortment of strawberries and an ornate silver porringer of what appears to be melted chocolate. Vere sets it down on the table, plucking the small dessert spoon from the chocolate once heâs seated across from you again.
âOccasionally, life does offer up something sweet to savorâonly for those willing to go out and take it.â His tongue darts out to lick the chocolate off the spoon in his hand. He maintains eye contact as his tongue laves across the basin andâembarrassinglyâyou think you get a little lightheaded from the intensity with which your blood rushes to your face. The crinkles at the corners of his eyes tell you that he know exactly where your mind has gone.
Setting the spoon down, Vere instead picks up a bare strawberry, leaning in closer to press it gently to your mouth.
The chocolate is overly bitterâa little burnt, perhaps, but you canât find it in yourself to care when youâre tasting the remnants of it on Vereâs lips.
(Before leaving, you plop a few coins down on the counter as payment. You brought enough to cover your foodâŚbut definitely not enough to cover the mess in the kitchen. Thereâs really nothing you can do about that. Â
You hope you donât get blacklisted. Youâd like to come back next Monday.)
Hope you enjoyed if you made it this far! â¸(ď˝ĄË áľ Ë )â¸âĄ

it's wild to me how because so many people are part of an organized religion, we're not allowed to call it for what it is (a cult). people will try and defend organized religion against cult allegations like the BITE model isn't readily available for anyone to google.
#it's actually INSANE to me that we just let billions of people walk around in cults under the guise of well the followers dont think so#like you literally have people giving money on a weekly basis kicking or beating their kids for being gay or slutty#people walk around 24/7 wondering whether an invisible sky daddy killed their parents as retribution for their sins#people wear the clothes and eat the things that their so called leaders tell them they should#people sit around debating whether or not its godly to wear fucking make up and have more than one romantic partner in their dating history#people disown family members for not subscribing to their own religion#people will literally lose their entire community once they become an atheist#how is that not a fucking cult pray tell#religion#personal

#ay ay ay. my head feels like its stuffed completely full of cotton. bulging at the seems#its just that wrung out ive been crying too much feel. i just had to do a bunch of application stuff yesterday night#and there were way too many tears so i work up out of focus with salt in my eyelashes. so i wasnt that productive despite the fact i really#need to b rn. and i met with my boss for our weekly meeting and its just so many things i have to do#like theres this procedure for some new equipment we have and im testing it out but like she wants to see it in action and im like treading#close to dangerously unstable so the chances i burst into tears in public is quite high which is why i hide in my apartment and only go to#the lab when no ones there. but no im prob gonna have to go in Thursday and have to go drive like and hr away next week so we can hopefully#have all the equipment we need for another project thats gonna kill me. plus we got contacted by a group we were gonna work with last year#who wanna work with us again. which is objectively good like itll look real good on a cv to b involved and like even non science ppl would#prob find it cool. but i csnt feel any of that bc i dont kno how im gonna be able to go back and forth contacting the other lab group i#have to work with in order to do everything. which its like itll b fine#ive done it before. 2 of the 3 things i have done before so itll be fine. it just doesn't feel like it#it feels like im dissolving into pieces and everythings spinning too fast. theres a film between myself and everything else so i cant touch#anything and it cant touch me.#and its weird bc i know that burning myself out is what got me here but i still cant detatch myself from the soul crushing guilt of not#making every second productive. its disorienting bc my brain will b like: u should just stay here over break and get stuff done#and like no. thats objectively the worst thing i could possibly do. i just feel like a wet glob of paper towels. ive already committed#myself to only 13 days being gone. only have to trudge through like 21 days 1st. how? no idea#like im sure itll b fine but somethings gotta give before my brain implodes beyond repair. if were not there already#ay everytime my boss says something nice abt me to someone it just feels like a knife in the gut. like shes not lying but i just feel like#ive fallen so far that shes talking abt a past verson of me and it makes me sad. like idk how obvious it is but im sure i have terrible#vibes irl lol like the sort of pained twisted up little smiles u make when u dont wanna lie but u dont wanna b honest ay#itll b fine. i can feel the floorboards giving way so somethings close to giving just have to see where and in what form the metaphor#actulizes. hopefully it does so quickly bc im bored and tired of living like this. and i dont really wanna go home and explode into tears#like a child and have my parents deal with me. which they would bc theyre great. i just dont wanna worry them sigh...#unrelated#i should sleep bc i gotta get up and burn my brain out being a scribe tomorrow morning. at least i get to hang out with someone cool

got a sinking feeling in my stomach when my groupmate said they had done quote "a lot of work" on a piece of this assignment that was largely complete. and so i check it out this morning. and lo! they've gone and added a whole bunch of shit that's completely irrelevant despite my best efforts to prevent this
#i left this file with a note at the top detailing where i thought more information should be added by whoever chips in next#(because this is a group project. and we are doing it together)#but of course she comes in and does something completely different#and leaves a comment?? quoting the instructions??#so i pull literally the next quote which more or less says verbatim âdont do that thing you misunderstood the previous sentence to sayâ lol#it's not that i think on my opinions are valid here. it's fucking that this person is obsessed with her mark#and is creating 100x the necessary work that in its course completely loses focuses on the task at hand#and ends up more like some highly performed regurgitation#that makes the documents themselves ineffective#this file is a STATUS REPORT#the person in charge of costumes and set does not need to have an intimate understanding how every marketing and social media activity#is going on the project on a weekly basis lol

okay, i'm back to working on RD although i've already decided that instead of working on a Schedule i'm just going to posting as i finish updates lmao. i've currently cleaned out a vast majority of poses i had downloaded because i think i'd prefer to only have ones loaded into the game as needed. i think that'll be far less stressful.
also julien got another makeover but we need not talk abt that. you'll see.
#mercy talks#julien takes after his grandmother in that i will never ever ever be happy with how he turned out#which in his case i think is more ''i would never normally make a sim like this so it feels weird''#he could not be LESS my typical sim type lmao#ANYWAY. i managed to keep to updating weekly two weeks before falling off fkdshfjaf#listen i've got adhd among other things. we work with the energy + motivation we have#however rn i'm feeling good#i still gotta go in and take screenshots and all but the next update should be the last like#idk. introduction to avery's part of the family and like the lead-in to THINGS.#although i think i'll be introducing alexei's side of things before the trip to mt. k.#don't forget that we have a whole damn vampire side of this story. which like oooo i'm so excited for i've got LORE#once i again: i'm a tag talker. i hope you love me for it lmao

Introducing: The Life Series Comment-a-thon
In light of several of the content creators involved mentioning negative comments on Wild Life, Secret Life, and Life Series videos in general, I want to suggest an event that encourages people to leave positive comments on life series videos as well!
The life series has some of the kindest and most supportive people I have ever encountered in fandom, and I think the creative minds behind the series deserve to get some of that love too. There is no starting or finishing day to this event, as the intention is for fans to leave kind comments highlighting what they love about Wild Life and the Life Series in general, over the course of the current season. I have devised a total of eight weekly comment prompts, making an educated guess as to how long the season will be based off previous season, intended to encourage you to leave a comment on at least one video per week.
There is no time limit or minimum word count for comments. Just be kind, be honest, and donât tear other creators down in the process of trying to build others up (â[X creator] is so overrated, people should be watching you insteadâ, âyou deserved to win so much more than [Y creator]â, etc.). Without further ado, The Life Series Comment-a-thon:
Week 1: comment on at least one video telling the creator that you liked the video!
Week 2: pick a team/alliance, then tell at least one person in that alliance that you are really enjoying the dynamic of their team/them collaborating with the other member(s) of the team.
Week 3: tell a new member or one who skipped one or more seasons (Gem who joined last season, Ren, Mumbo, Lizzie, Skizz, and Bdubs who all either missed or did not originally post their POVs of a season) that you are happy they are on the life series.
Week 4: Most of the creators involved in the life series are male, but we know that those who are not get a larger share of the negative comments. This week pick one of them (Lizzie, Pearl, Gem, and Cleo) and tell them that you enjoy their video/their content/etc!
Week 5: leave a comment on someoneâs video mentioning at least one specific thing you enjoyed about their episode/their season.
Week 6: pick a person whose videos you have not yet commented on in this event and leave them a comment saying you look forward to their episodes every week/season.
Week 7: write a short, positive comment (e.g âI loved this episodeâ , âthis was greatâ , âkeep up the good workâ) and leave it on every POV you watch this week.
Week 8: leave a comment on someoneâs video mentioning at least three specific thing you enjoyed about their episode/their season. Alternatively pick three videos to leave one specific compliment on.
Week 9+: repeat one of the previous week prompts, or better yet combine two or more! You can pick yourself, use an eight-sided die, or a random number generator to decide for you.
I know commenting can be scary and that it can be hard to find the words. At the end of the post, beneath the the read-more cut, I have a list of suggestions for what you can bring up in a comment. Just below this you will also find a list of things you can do to let the content creators know that you love their art that are not commenting!
Other things you can do:

Did a joke make you laugh?
Did you catch them making a reference to another season, SMP, or piece of media?
Did the creator interact with someone in a way you enjoyed?
What made the interaction stand out?
Did they build something you thought was pretty?
What part did you like best: the shape, the blocks they chose to use, how it ties into their season, or how it ties into the terrain around it?
If they have a new skin, what is your favourite part of it?
Did they use background music in a way you thought was especially fitting? In what way?
Did a change from one scene to the next feel very well-timed, smooth, or narratively fitting?
If you did not notice any scene changes or cuts, can you think of something the creator did to make you feel immersed in the story of the video instead of the video making itself?
What do you hope happens next? (be sure to tell them that whether it happens or not you still look forward to watching the rest of their season)
Did something surprise you?
Did the content creator say or do something that made you have a new idea?
Did you learn something new about minecraft?

How To (Realistically) Make A Habit Of Writing
To clarify: Works with my autism. WORKS WITH MY AUTISM!!! Iâve been meeting my goals since I made them my New Yearâs resolution! Anyway Iâm so sick of all those âhow toâ guides that donât actually tell you what the process is theyâre just like âjust do it, but donât burn yourself out, do whatâs best for you!â because youâre not telling me what Iâm not supposed to be burning myself out over but okay, so I made my own. Hope this helps
1. Choose your fighter metric. What works better for you as a measurement of your progress; time spent writing or your word count? Personally I get very motivated and encouraged by seeing my word count go up and making a note of where it should be when Iâm done, so I measure by that. At the same time, a lot of people are also very discouraged by their word count and it can negatively impact their motivation to write, and in that case you may be better off working from how much time you spend writing rather than where the word count is
2. Choose your starter PokĂŠmon time frame. How often can you write before it starts to feel like a chore or a burden rather than something fun you look forward to? Many people believe that they have to write daily, but for some people this can do more harm than good. Maybe every two or three days? Weekly? Figure out what fits your schedule and go with it
3. Choose your funny third joke goal. Now that youâve got your chosen time frame to complete your goal in, whatâs a reasonable goal to aim to complete within that time frame based on the metric you chose? If your metric is your word count, how much can you reasonably and consistently write within your chosen time frame? If your metric is time spent writing, how much time can you reasonably and consistently spend writing within that time? Maybe 1000 words per week works, or maybe 10 minutes per day? The goal here is to find something that works for you and your own schedule without burning you out
4. Trial and error. Experiment with your new target and adapt it accordingly. Most people canât consistently write 1667 words per day like you do in NaNoWriMo, so we want to avoid that and aim somewhere more reasonable. If you feel like itâs too much to do in such a short time frame, either give yourself less to do or more time to do it in. If you find yourself begrudgingly writing so often that it constantly feels more like a chore than something fun, maybe consider adapting things. And if you think that you gave yourself too much wiggle room and you could do more than this consistently, give yourself more of a challenge. Everything needs to suit you and your pace and needs
5. Run your own race. Donât feel like youâre not accomplishing enough in comparison to others or not working fast enough to satisfy some arbitrary feeling of doubt. Everybody works at their own pace and slower work doesnât mean worse work. You could be on one word per day and youâll still see consistent results, which is still one word per day more than you could originally count on. All progress is progress, regardless of its speed

a rundown on the listed e-sim platforms from this tweet from mirna el helbawi. visit esimsforgaza to learn about this effort. (they also have a tutorial on how to purchase an esim and send it to them)
update v12 (5/21/24) holafly (israel and egypt), nomad (regional middle east), simly (palestine and middle east), mogo (israel), and airalo (discover) are currently in the highest in demand. if it has been more than 3 weeks since you initially sent your esim and your esim has not been activated, you can reforward your original email with the expiration date in the subject line. you can see gothhabibaâs guide for how to tell if your esims have been activated. if your esim has expired without use, you can contact customer service to renew or replace it.
troubleshooting hint 1: if you are trying to pay through paypal, make sure you have pop-ups enabled! otherwise the payment window won't be able to appear. (this issue most frequently seems to occur with nomad)
troubleshooting hint 2: if you are trying to purchase an esim using the provider's app, it may block you from purchasing if your phone does not fit the requirements to install and use their esims. use their website in your browser instead and this problem should go away.
nomad
for the month of may, first time referrals give 25% off for a person's first purchase and 25% off the referrer's next purchase! it's a great time to use someone's referral code from the notes if you are a first time buyer.
you can use a referral code to get $3 off your first purchase and also make it so the person whose code you used can buy more esims for gaza. many people have been leaving their referral codes in the replies of this post and supposedly a referral code may eventually reach capacity so just keep trying until you find one that works! BACKPACKNOMAD is another code to get $3 off your first purchase, it's been working for some people but not others so try out a referral code instead if you can't get it to work. NOMADCNG is a code for 5% off any middle east region nomad esims posted by connecting gaza. it can be used on any purchase, not just your first but is generally going to give less off than the first-purchase only codes, so use those first. it can be used in combination with nomad points. AWESOME NEW CODE: nomad esim discount code for 75% off any plan, NOMADCS25 do not know how long it lasts but this is an amazing deal esp. since they are really low on esims right now! (nomad promo codes do not work on plans that are already on sale, unlimited plans, and plans under $5)
weekly tuesdays only code on nomad web, PST timezone! it gives 10% off plans 10gb and above. NOMADTUE
nomad also seems to be kind of sluggish sometimes when it comes to sending out emails with the codes. you can look for them manually by going to manage -> manage plans -> the plan you purchased -> installation instruction and scroll down to install esim via QR code or manual input then select QR code to find the QR code which you can screenshot and email to them. often just the act of logging back into your nomad account after purchase seems to cause the email with the code to come through though.
mogo
mogo's website is fucking annoying to navigate and i couldn't find any promo codes, but their prices are massively on sale anyway. you have to pick if you want your esim to be for iphone, ipad, or android for some reason. according to statcounter, android makes up approx. 75% of mobile markets in palestine while iphone represents approx. 25%. so i would probably recommend prioritizing donations of android esims but if you can afford multiple, try buying an iphone one too? if i can find any official direction from the connecting gaza crew on this i will update with it.
a good referral code to use for mogo is 8R29F9. the way things are worded are confusing but as far as i can tell, if you use it we both get a 10% discount on your first purchase. (the referrer gets a 10% voucher that allows them to top up in use esims, they are someone who i know has bought a lot of esims and will be able to make good use of the top-up discount vouchers!) also upon signing up it automatically generates a password for you which you can change by downloading the app. (check your email to find your account's current password)
holafly (also looking for holafly esims for egypt now)
holafly is pricier than the others and the only promo code i could find was ESIMNOW for 7% off. someone in the tags mentioned GETESIM7 as another 7% off code they had received, so if you have already used ESIMNOW or can't seem to get it to work, try GETESIM7. another 7% off code is HOLAXSUMMER7 which is valid until june 2nd. referral codes only seem to give 5% off and they don't stack. (i don't remember the source, it was on some sketchy coupon site i don't want to link to and only can recommend because i tried it myself) you can also use my referral link for 5% off if you can afford the 2% worse deal on your end, it will give me $5 credit which i can put towards buying more esims. connecting gaza has also posted the promo code HOLACNG for 5% off but since it is less than the 7% off codes and as far as i can tell does not give credit towards others to buy esims like the referral links, i would consider it lower priority for use.
simly (note: simly must be downloaded as an app to be used, the website link is to help people confirm they are downloading the right app)
i have not personally used simly so i am going to be going off of the sixth slide of mirna el helbawi's instagram guide, with some corrections from someone who has successfully purchased an esim from simly. after downloading the app and making an account, search for palestine or middle east and purchase your preferred package. the page the app takes you to after your purchase should have the QR code to send to the esimsforgaza email, it won't show up in your email receipt. someone kindly left her referral code in the tags of this post, it gives $3 off your first purchase and will give her $3 credit to put towards purchasing more esims for gaza. the code is CIWA2. (if this referral code doesn't work, try one from the notes of this post!) according to someone in the notes, ARB is a simly promo code for 25% off esims that is still working as of march 3rd.
airalo
some people have noted issues trying to sign up for airalo using the browser version of the website, it worked for me but if you are struggling you can give the mobile app a try and that should work. you can use a referral code to get $3 off your first purchase and give the code suppler a $3 credit for buying more esims. KARINA9661 is a code sourced from this post which is also a wonderful example of how using people's referral codes can really make a difference. if for some reason that referral code isn't working, you can find more in the notes of the original esim post i made here.
@/fairuzfan also has a tag of esim referral codes for various platforms!
(note: mogo and holafly both link to israel esims as there are no general regional packages for the middle east like on nomad and the esims for gaza website specifically linked to the israel package on mogo, so i linked to the equivalent on holafly.)
#esims for gaza#esims#gaza#palestine#free palestine#connecting gaza#despite not having used simly myself i'm fairly experienced with esim services at this point so i will likely be able to answer some#questions and i also have someone familiar with simly i can ask if i am not sure of the answer myself. so please go ahead and ask questions#if you're struggling with donating an esim from any of these sources!

Creator Spotlight: @camberdraws
Hello! My name is Camber (any pronouns), and Iâm a mixed media illustrator located in the southwestern United States. I love drawing everything, but I have a special interest in depicting strange creatures and environments, often accompanied by abstract imagery and mark-making. Professionally, Iâve worked creating concept art and 2D assets for museum exhibits, but currently, I am engaged full-time as a software developer and make standalone illustrations in my free time. Iâve been posting art on Tumblr since I was a teenager, and the site has been very welcoming towards my work to this very day!
Check out Camberâs interview below!
Did you originally have a background in art? If not, how did you start?
Iâve had an interest in drawing since I was barely sentient, but at thirteen years old I decided to become âseriousâ about art. I was all about reading tutorials and doing a ton of studies. I would tote my heavy instructional art books to school every single day (my poor back!) Despite all this, I decided to forgo art school in favor of a bachelorâs degree in Computer Science at my local college. Alongside my major, I received a minor in Art Studio with a specialization in fine art, which totally changed my views on creating artwork and drastically changed my style.
How has your style developed over the years?
As mentioned previously, my style did a 180 after I studied under some very skilled fine art professors! As a kid, my drawings were very realism-heavy and inspired by video game concept art. I mostly worked digitally, too. During college, I was thrown for a loop when we were instructed to do strange things like, for example, make a bunch of marks on paper using pastel, WITHOUT looking, and then turn said marks into a finished piece of art! I quickly and deeply fell in love with abstract work, and especially appreciated images that are not easily parsed by the viewer. Since then, Iâve made it my goal to combine abstract mark-making with more representational subject matter.
What is one habit you find yourself doing a lot as an artist?
Hmmm, one habit I really enjoy as an artist is strictly tracking the amount of time I spend drawing! I currently work a full-time job wholly unrelated to art, so I have to be careful with my time if I want to spend enough hours drawing each week. I created a spreadsheet that allows you to enter the amount of minutes youâve drawn each day and calculate how much drawing time you still need to reach your weekly goal (I aim for 20 hours a week.) Having such a clear, numbers-based objective keeps me motivated to work like nothing else!
Over the years as an artist, what were your biggest inspirations behind your creativity?
I know this is a common inspiration, but Hayao Miyazakiâs work has been rewiring my neurons since I was a child. Seemingly all of my artistic interests can be summed up by the movie Princess Mononoke: it has strange/abstract creature designs, a strong focus on nature and environmental storytelling, and a mix of dark and hopeful themes. Additionally, Iâve been deeply inspired by video game series such as Zelda, Okami, Pikmin, and Dark Souls. But arguably, none of these have influenced me more than Pokemon! Iâve been drawing Pokemon since I could barely hold a pencil, and I havenât stopped since! I believe my love of designing creatures originated with my endless deluge of Pokemon fanart during my childhood.
What is a medium that you have always been intrigued by but would never use yourself?
Iâve always been fascinated by 3D mediums and am so tempted to try them out! Whether thatâs 3D models created digitally or sculptures made from clay, I profoundly admire artists who have this skill. Oftentimes, it feels like I donât have time to delve into a totally different artistic paradigm. However, I feel very strongly that learning new skills can enrich your current work. I should take that advice and someday give 3D mediums a shot!
What is a recent creative project that you are proud of?
I am in the process of creating an art book (a dream of mine!) and have been executing smaller drawings of concepts I find interesting from both a visual and storytelling standpoint. A recent drawing for said book is that of a snail made of ink with an ink bottle as a shell, and it went absolutely viral! Iâve never had an experience like this as an artist before and it has been spectacular! I was able to open a shop using my newly acquired art printer and sell many prints of my snail. Creating something original, directly stemming from my interests, and having that resonate with so many people has been unreal. I couldnât ask for more as an artist!
What advice would you give to younger you about making art thatâs personal or truthful to your own experiences?
I would tell my younger self to chill out and experiment more! I was so caught up in the idea that I needed to have a realistic style to be considered âgood.â I also believed that technical skill was the only measure of how worthy my art was. Thatâs not to say technical skill doesnât matter, but I now firmly believe the creativity and voice of your ideas far outweigh the skill of execution in terms of importance. Technical skills should elevate ideas, not the other way around. Once I began to revel in strange ideas and stories for my work, depicted oftentimes in odd styles or mediums, I truly found my voice as an artist.
Who on Tumblr inspires you and why?
My peers here on Tumblr inspire me more than anything! Sharing my work with contemporaries and giving each other support brings me joy like no other, and keeps me motivated to continue creating. I wouldnât be where I am today without them! @beetlestench, @theogm-art, @trustyalt, @ratwednesday, @phantom-nisnow, @svltart, @mintsdraws, @mothhh-hh, @jupiterweathers, @thesewispsofsmoke, @picoffee, @fetchiko, @kaisei-ink, and @pine-niidles just to name only a few!
Thanks for stopping by, Camber! If you havenât seen their Meet the Artist piece, check it out here. For more of Camberâs work, follow their Tumblr, @camberdraws!
