secondly, im not a tumblr teen. ive been on this website for god knows how long and ive been well versed in queer history. me calling them a pedophile, after a conversation with them resulted in them refusing to admit sexual imagery is not for children, them calling me a bootlicker and several other names, before getting wildly upset and blocking me, had nothing to do with their sexuality and everything to do with the fact that they couldnt tell me sexual imagery is not a thing for minors to consume period end of story. this is AFTER the fact i had been a bit more educated about pride and had ALREADY agreed where i went wrong. now about the sanitization of pride- thats wrong as well. dont get me wrong. but you cant seriously look me in the face and tell me that sexual imagery is not for minors. like- just that statement alone, right? so how is this such a controversy?
ugh okay I guess Iâm gonna write A Thing. Iâll get into a proper response to your final questions but first, letâs do some context work.
first thing to make clear is that I know Jux irl, and I also want to make it pretty clear that they and I have pretty similar opinions here, Iâm just slightly more likely to put my anger aside to reply to stuff. Do not get it twisted, rhetoric like the kind you were/are using is like, a big red flag for me, itâs the kind of shit reactionaries have been using for eons and like, were I in a less chill mood, I wouldâve also likely written you off as a bootlicker troll. Their response was pretty aggressive but not completely misplaced, so I just want to make it clear that like, as another queer dude who is tired of seeing this shit every fucking May for the better part of a decade, Iâm also exhausted and pissed off.
As for my claim of teenagerdom, I apologize if that offended, but you have to understand that, generally speaking, the loudest groups having this conversation on the regular are (1) right-wing reactionaries, TERFs, and their ilk trying to stir shit up (see: Operation Pridefall) and (2) young people who donât have any context for Pride, often havenât been, and only really have queer politic and history from tumblr and twitter threads featuring reactionary revisionism from the first group. When I see people engage in this conversation, I generally assume theyâre in the latter group, as it helps me try to frame my responses in the best faith I can given how tired I am of this shit.
But that aside, sure. Kink isnât for children. But provided thereâs a parent accompanying this hypothetical child at Pride, their job is to explain and provide context for the things they can, and give a solid âyouâll learn more when youâre olderâ for the things they canât. The Village People are all each in different kink gear, and as a kid I was told âthey like to dress up, and thereâs some costumes specifically for adults,â and I was good. I saw bare titties at festivals, smelled weed at concerts, saw bulge at the beach â these are normal human things that happen in the world, and having a responsible adult nearby to explain or provide context for them made them non-issues for me. I donât think a kid seeing a pup hood is thinking anything more than âoh cool, that dude is dressed up as a dog.â Kids understand fantasy and make-believe. And especially as they age into their teenage years, withholding or sheltering them from knowledge about sex and sexuality can do real damage â hell, weâve been having that conversation for over a century at least.
(Springâs Awakening was first published in 1891 and was deeply censored in productions for the better part of a century, due to the content of the work, which is about how sheltering young teens (both straight and queer) from sexual content (and also mental health resources) leads them to try to figure shit out on their own and make catastrophic decisions that they donât understand the consequences of until itâs too late. Great play, pretty great musical adaptation, wild that we keep rehashing its points like clockwork over a century after publication.)
But I am also of the opinion that Pride isnât for children, as, while two decades of assimilationist politic would desperately try to argue otherwise, I am queer because I am sexually attracted to, and have sex with, other men. Pride is a response to the criminalization of queer sex acts, and so it is, in turn, a celebration of queer sex acts. So if someone wants to walk around in chaps and a jock, great! If someone wants to wear their pup gear or a harness or a rope tie or a vest, fuck yeah! Itâs a space specially carved out for celebrating the queer experience â the original Pride flag (before it was simplified to make it easier to mass produce for profit, which, again, love seeing our culture made into product) had a pink stripe at the very top, specifically representing sexuality. It is, ostensibly, the thing that defines our community (at least the L G and B parts of it) as an outgroup against the mainstream society.
I think that, if you are uncomfortable with kink displays, or youâre uncomfortable with children seeing kink displays, then Pride is not for you or your children! Donât go! Thereâs kid-friendly and sanitized versions of Pride in most major cities, do some research into your local/state Stonewall organizations and you can find more about them. But Iâm already sick of having actual cops at Pride, I donât need people who are uncomfortable with displays of sexuality also policing myself or any other queer person in a space they have spent decades carving out for themselves.
A final note â if you donât understand why a queer person would blow up and completely write off your bullshit after calling them a pedophile, I urge you to do more reading, more listening. I know that in this brave new world of same-sex marriage equality and PrEP access that itâs hard to remember the collective trauma that the community has experienced, but this shit is inflammatory, youâre straight up spewing fightinâ words. The dude wearing a leather harness at Pride isnât trying to corrupt any youth or fuck any kids, theyâre just trying to live their shit, and Iâm sorry that you and so many others have somehow decided that thatâs an attack on a demographic of people who arenât the audience for a celebration of sexuality. Weâre not fucking pedophiles, and this âthink about the kidsâ nonsense is some Reagan-era bullshit.

can we talk about how the LGBT movement has changed in the past 15 years?
in the light of the events surrounding Chris chan, and people prioritizing pronouns over the rape of a woman with dementia, I think it displays just how... different things are.
i personally feel like it's been co-opted by the more loud and entitled mtfs/ males/penis-havers/whatever pc term exists for the XY chromosome'd, who go too far and aren't reasonably kept in check. I think terf no longer has meaning anymore because it's just become a word we use to silence anyone that disagrees with a trans woman. immediately you're going to call me a terf, I accept that, but please continue reading. I may suprise you. calling someone who's transgender a terf is kinda messed up anyway, and that's exactly why im writing this.
I also think that everyone else (allies, ftms, etc) have followed suit because they've written this messed up narrative that EvErYoNe iS VaLiD. except for trans penis-havers, bc they're the most oppressed and the most valid, actually, regardless of their experiences.
I never used to believe the above because it was always written off as terf shit, and ignoring it kinda benefitted me, but between seeing ftms getting bashed for refusing to follow new "TME" rules as if they aren't trans too, and seeing outrage around Chris chans pronouns, I think it's time to start saying things that may make people uncomfortable. innocent people are already getting hurt by this, and we need to do better. it's time to get uncomfortable.
I want to remind you that perception is both the relying factor, and also the downfall of newer lgbt theory. if my profile were mtf coded, maybe it currently is, you'd call me a self hating trans and I wouldn't be that big of a deal. terfs would probably target me.
if my profile was ftm coded, I would be absolutely skewered for daring to speak out about these issues, even though they do actually affect ftms disproportionately. terfs would try to convince me that being trans is a plague and a mental illness, and to just ~be a cis woman~!
and if assumed cis, I would 100% be assumed radfem terf, and everything I say would immediately be dismissed because of the genuine damage terfs have done. but terfs would still probably flock to this post and berate me for daring to validate trans people At All, because to them, being transgender is a mental illness akin to an eating disorder, and "giving in" to it is "self harm". clearly I don't believe that, so hopefully you'll give me at least some benefit of the doubt.
so, does my identity matter? i have a feeling you'll say yes, because it gives us a good idea of experiences I do and don't have expertise in, and thus room to talk about. but I refuse to directly identify what I actually am because I want the focus of any resulting conversation to be my message and not my self identification. if you read between the lines and figure it out that's just fine, but I would like to be heard first and foremost.
my profile is thus an attempt at being cis female coded, somewhat out of comfort, and that is likely what I'll be assumed to be due to the beliefs I am expressing, even though there is a substantial risk of getting misgendered and dismissed, no matter what my birth sex may actually be. i will give you a hint about my identity: I am transgender, on HRT and everything, and I have been personally affected by all of this. rest assured, this is well within my lane to speak about, and it does matter if you misgender me.
I want you to really think about that. before you respond, really think about if someone saying words on tumblr, talking about their OWN experiences and their take on recent history that applies to themself, really more worthy of being misgendered and harassed than... someone who said they transitioned so they could date lesbians, and then raped their own mother with dementia.
is that fair or just? or is this just a new way of letting people with penises do whatever they want? I personally think it's the latter. we need to hold people like Chris chan accountable without getting caught up on something as minor **in comparison** as misgendering and self identification. Is it sad and confusing that someone who self IDs as transgender became 1:1 with the most dangerous stereotypes that exist for trans women? Of course it is. But it doesn't mean that self identification is suddenly more important than a literal crime being committed.
I would normally dismiss it as a fluke or outright trolling if the evidence weren't so damning that this is in fact a real event that happened. If I hadn't seen this happen to other people, and if I didn't literally know another mtf person who used their dysphoria as an excuse for date rape on multiple occasions and never got any consequences for it.
It's not a one time thing, it's a developing problem that we need to stop before more people have their lives ruined. I can't even imagine how traumatizing and messed up it is for an FTM person to be date raped, by another transgender person no less. When I, an abuse survivor, told people of this MTFs red flags, people violently silenced me. People who didn't know I was trans called me a terf and transphobic. We, as a community, could've protected someone from getting date raped, and we didn't. Trans women can be awful, horrible fucking people, because they are people. Protecting them at all costs is wrong. Protecting them from transphobia is what we should be doing.
That being said, misgendering is still skeevy, and I haven't done anything like raped a disabled woman who is no longer able to consent, or date raped my own partner. if you give a shit about respecting my identity, please use they/them for me. if not, use visual perception and make assumptions that will most likely be incorrect, skew your own argument, and put me on the same level as a rapist, and arguably a fetishist. And I do need to remind you that calling someone transgender a rapist and a fetishist without evidence is still definitely classic transphobia, to the letter, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't do that.
as someone who is same sex attracted, I also want to bring this up as well.
in the US in the past 15 years, the movement as a whole pretty much went "YEAH BORN THIS WAY" with Lady Gaga, and then jumped ship to prioritize mostly mtfs at every angle. do mtfs need support? absolutely. but they don't need misguided toxic positivity, and that's what it's turned into.
it's gotten genuinely homophobic to the point where actually homosexual people are constantly being erased and demonized via "genital preferences are a fetish uwu", and vulva havers, especially the trans ones, are constantly being told to shut up about their experiences.
as much as you want to deny bioessentialism, its still very much well and alive with newer trans movement sentiments when we classify ftms as not worthy of speaking about their own issues with terms like "TME". it's also incredibly ignorant towards FTMs who pass, but dress feminine for comfort, and get mistaken for MTF, and treated like garbage because of it. They are not remotely exempt from misogyny, transphobia, or the intersection of the two, and it is not anyone's job to tell them they don't ever experience that when they do. Turning ftms and biological homosexuals into our enemies-- especially when the actual cause is transphobia and harmful gender stereotypes-- does nothing good or healthy for our movement.
Dont be mistaken, though, passing isn't the focus or end all be all here, it's the perception of others that ends up drastically effecting your experiences. There are words like misogyny that imply treatment via birth sex, however this too can be reliant on external perception. If an MTF individual either transitions very young, has an abundance of resources to transition, or just gets lucky and passes well, chances are she will experience a lot more misogyny than people may give credit to. inversely, someone who just started questioning yesterday, but lived as a male their whole life up until then, they genuinely cannot speak about misogyny with that much room because they simply haven't experienced it at an accurate enough angle or for enough time to understand it as a repeated and sociological force.
It works the other way as well, though; someone who's known that they're trans for a long time and haven't had the resources to transition, or do not or cannot pass in the eyes of society; these people suffer pain that we don't neccesarily have a word for yet, imo. It makes dysphoria worse and it makes living seem hopeless. And as a community, we deal with this is in a really messed up way by over-validating them instead of solving the core issue at hand. and people who suffer from this, but also acknowledge they can't claim what they haven't experienced, are left with nowhere to go.
And its important to acknowledge these things because they're integral to the over-encompassing trans experience. Instead of lying to everyone and telling everyone they pass/giving out unconditional positive regard, our focus should be making it so that it **doesn't matter if you pass**. that you're still worth respect and dignity if you're transgender, no matter what passing is or what it means to you, and no matter how you present. But also, if you do something awful, you still need to be held accountable, especially if you use yourself, your body, or your trans status to contribute to other axi of oppression.
Transphobia is a word that encompasses and addresses all of that, regardless of birth sex. "TME" shuts that down in favor of only letting MTF's speak. Which is still very bio-essentialist, and I can't help but feel like we've gone full circle.
Once upon a time you couldn't even get married if your partner had the same genitals as you. in the US, this was less than 7 years ago. and if you care about human rights activism, you know damn well that legal modification is not the end all be all. people who are genuinely homosexual are still oppressed, but the trans movement has started stepping on them to make ground we don't deserve. homosexuals are ok and valid. it's not a genital preference, and the prescence of trans people doesn't make conversion therapy sentiments ok, ever.
we've gone full circle, and it's not right.

my dad group texted my brother and i, highly unusual, and i think jordan was weirded out too cause his response was equally short and confused. on the list of things my little brother and i have never discussed, our dadâs relative interest or lack there of in our lives is pretty high. dadâs been messaging me since october, asking about stuff like where my next living plans are (which he has never done since i first moved out age eighteen), and iâve only been vaguely responding to the point blank questions cause its just. so. weird. i think my grandpaâs death has shaken dadâs worldview a bit more than heâs been letting on.
he alienated my brother and i pretty much immediately after his secretive marriage to the bottle blonde rich bitch when i was 22. he kicked my brother out as soon as jordan turned 18, and when i discovered this by coming home one summer and seeing jordan wasnt in the house, i got so fucking mad that it was the first time i ever had a full out screaming match at my dad. and apparently this display of anger was when rich bitch decided she didnât like me (probably valid, but also ironic because pretty much from birth it was known in my entire extended family that dad and i were almost identical personality wise, and both of us have tempers where we will not get mad at anything but frustration will build up and up until on the rare blue moon it boils over, and oh boy. watch out. those moments were the only times i was ever scared of my dad as a kid and i think it only happened twice in my entire life)(if she thinks im crazy when im angry, she should see my dad)
but i was crazy mad because while i was lucky enough to be put in therapy due to attempting to starve myself into non existence at age 13 (many many sessions of âfamilyâ therapy with me in the center of a long couch silently trying to pretend i was invisible and my mom two feet away at one end and dad on the opposite end of the couch, and my mom doing all the talking, ranting and raving about how im starving myself to punish her. and then the therapist kicking both my parents out and trying to convince me to say a few words, and her finally getting me to realize that how my mom treated me was not normal and not something i needed to put up with if it made me sad and scared, and then the therapist realizing that i was still too sad and scared to confront it, and her and i coming up with a compromise where we would tell my mom that i was just âreally attachedâ to dadâs house and it wasnt that i was terrified of living with my mom or liked my dad better, it was that i just really liked living in one place instead of out of a suitcase and moving every week), and so had both the therapist and my dad supporting me when at fourteen i finally said enough was enough and demanded that my dad get full custody so i didnt have to spend every other week with my abusive mother anymore - while i got out of that situation, my brother didnt. i tried, he knew that it was my decision to live full time with dad and i made it clear he could do the same, but just as it was a given that i was identical to dadâs personality, my brother was identical to momâs so i think he was more attached to her than i was. either way, he always refused and insisted on continuing to live between both of them. after i hit driving age, my dad transferred responsibility to me for shuttling my brother to and from my dadâs house to my momâs apartment. dadâd lock himself in his room, or go to the gym, and iâd turn on an endless rotation of star wars movies for jordan and i to watch before i had to take him to his next weekâs place (phantom menace was our favorite cause darth maul was just cool ok, dont judge).
anyway, the last day i ever stayed at my moms house, my brother was there. and i must have been twenty or twenty one because he would have only been around seventeen. but even at seventeen he was well over six foot five cause he got all the height in the family which was totally not fair but thats besides the point. so while i was there my mom flew into one of her alcohol induced rages, and took it all out on my brother. i had intellectually figured that all the anger my mom used to take out on me had then transferred to my brother once i stopped living there every other week, but up until that point i hadnât actually seen it. she started shoving him, and punching him, and not enough so it would hurt much, because as i said he was well over six feet and she was barely five six, so he could pretty well block any thing she dished out. but he was cornered, and he looked scared. and i was hiding useless on the stairwell, crying, and begging mom to stop. and it only stopped cause jordan managed to slip out the front door and once he escaped mom went back into the kitchen, still yelling and angry. and i took the chance to grab my school bag and leave in solidarity. and my brother and i stood there awkwardly on the porch, me still crying, and him smoking and trying to look cool and not like he just got chased out of the apartment by a woman half his size. and i promised him we wouldnt go back until she calmed down, and that she was being unreasonable and he didnt deserve any of it, and id figure out somewhere to go. and we started walking down the sidewalk, but not together because we were never that close. he wandered off somewhere to smoke. and thatâs as far as i remember.
this day came up in conversation with my grandma in the months after grandpaâs death, during one of our many three am canât sleep conversations in grandmaâs kitchen (grandma would wake up, iâd hear her get out of bed and wake up too. sheâd make herself tea and eat some graham crackers and weâd sit together at the table feeling the third empty chair like an ache). grandma brought it up, because apparently, even though i cant remember this at all, i had my no/kia brick phone in my school bag (a minor miracle because i hated carrying around cell phones for the longest time), and i actually called grandma. and grandpa and her came to pick me up, and they found me sitting on a wall a block away from my momâs apartment, and then we drove around till we found jordan, and then we all went back to my grandparentâs house. after bringing this up, grandma then, completely unprompted, told me something that child me thought about regularly - she said that even though her mom died when she was 8, leaving her to help raise her two younger siblings, grandma thought in some ways it was easier than what my brother and i went through with the divorce and my mom leaving. i used to regularly - not wish my mom dead, exactly - but wish i could pretend she was dead, rather than her just not being there anymore. especially since, when i was suddenly thrown into being her sole emotional and physical punching bag now that dad wasnât filling the role anymore, a lot of the times being around her post divorce was not a good thing. (I cut off all contact with my mom finally at age 25 and havenât looked back)
so yeah, i was fucking pissed that i had worked so hard to try to mitigate the damage i caused by leaving jordan alone with my mom for pretty much the entirety of my high school years...only to have my dad kick him out barely a few years after i left for college and thus putting my brother at my momâs mercy. ostensibly my dad kicked my brother out because of his drug addictions, but my brother was the most mild mannered addict iâve ever known. the worst thing he ever did was steal a couple hundred dollars from me, but he never got violent, he never got angry. other people got angry at him. my aunt once tried to fight him in a hospital elevator because he sold my cousin heroin or meth or some shit and my cousin ended up impaling a knife in his chest in front of my grandma, which is a whole nother story. but jordan was only nineteen when that happened. my cousin? thirty six. and a long time violent and angry drug addict with a record (he threw a book at his professorâs head and got kicked out of grad school while on cocaine once, which is how he ended up back in washington state and needing a new drug dealer - hence my brother suddenly getting involved) (same cousin later flew into a drug fueled rage in his forties and almost beat his girlfriend to death) (my brother was long since clean by then and had nothing to do with our cousin getting drugs at that point)
all this to say my dadâs rich bitch new wife didnât think a drug addict and mentally ill artist fit into her picture perfect family, so dad started making it clear we were not welcome at family functions unless we complied with very strict rules. ironically, jordan was let back into the fold first partially because i can hold a grudge for a very long time and i was very very terrified of my mom and dad was the sane stable one and i had trusted him to take care of everything even without me there and dad had failed pretty spectacularly at that. im still bitter at my dad for his secret marriage and subsequent moving into her million dollar mansion and throwing my brother out. but also partially because jordan started following all of dadâs rules, got himself cleaned up (he moved in with his girlfriend, and i think being out of momâs house had a lot to do with getting over his addictions), started studying computer science, found a really good software engineering job, suddenly dad approved of him. i also partially antagonized rich bitch wife by doing silly things like wearing black leather pants and the most provocative clothes i owned whenever i went over to their house. rich bitch was a very simple narrow minded person with a lot of prejudices. i imagine i was not seen as a good influence on her two younger daughters. and eventually they stopped seeing me altogether. even when i was living in washington for all of 2017 - the only time i ever saw dad was when heâd come visit my grandparents alone. the day before i took grandma on the train to move to ohio, we were supposed to all have dinner together at our familyâs favorite place to eat out - crossroads mall - and the rich bitch refused to show up. thatâs how petty she is. she also is so dumb sheâs under the delusion that kids get into drugs if they donât have dogs (????) so thatâs why she forced my dad to get a dog for her spoiled brat youngest when the girl went into high school. my dad dislikes animals, so i will say one of the highlights of this marriage is seeing my dad become a dog person. the rich bitch and her daughters mostly ignore the dog, but my dad is so attached to max that he even lets the little puppy sit in his lap while driving. anyway, anyone who thinks dogs are the sole answer to preventing drug addictions can go to hell.
yeah, blah blah blah, to sum up its WEIRD for my dad to suddenly be texting my brother and i unprompted, and asking me about my life and my plans. i dont really know how to deal. i miss him. he was always the closest person in my life to the point where even when i moved away for college, i still assumed after i graduated iâd just move back in with dad so it was only four years being gone, cause why would i ever want to live anywhere else?. i kept thinking if i could hit some level of success that he would approve of, that maybe eventually i could become somebody his rich bitch wife would associate with. but that never happened, obviously.Â

Clyde woke up the next morning wrapped in blankets, the sun in his eyes, and with her head nuzzled into his neck. It felt perfect. She was still sound asleep, curled against him. He noticed she must have gotten up at one point in the night because she was now wearing his sweatshirt. It was far too big on her frame with the sleeves falling past her hands and the end of it stopping at around her upper-thigh, but he loved the way it looked on her. He closed his eyes and nuzzled his face into her hair, not wanting this to end.
But he knew he had to. It was the day. Today he had to land himself in jail for the sake of a crazy heist his brother had come up with. He had to do it, it was for his family. And the money certainly wouldn't hurt either.
He looked at her frame next to his, remembering what she had told him just a few hours ago. She needed money. She wanted her freedom from her psycho ex who was demanding she pay him for medical bills that were his fault. She didn't really need to pay them, in his opinion, she didn't owe him. But he considered that she saw it more as her just removing anything he could hold over her head. It was unfair, but he could understand it.
He decided there, in her bed with her curled up in his arms, that he was going to use some of the heist money to help pay her medical bills. He could find a way to send it anonymously to her ex, keep him out of her life for good. Maybe even help her get her tooth fixed. She admitted a few weeks back that He didn't have much he wanted for himself, he wanted to use this money to help her.
She stirred next to him, lazily opening her eyes and looking up into his. She smiled.
âHey,â her voice was thick with sleep
âMorninâ,â he responded. âDid you get cold during the night?â he played with a string from his sweatshirt. She chuckled as he poked her cheek with it.
âMaybe, do you want it back?â
âNot right now, are you doinâ better?â
âI think so, yeah,â she untangled herself from him, pushing herself into a sitting position. âThanks for staying over, sorry if its weird,â
âI donât mind it,â
She moved a lock of his hair out of his face, fingers lingering over his skin just enough to give him goosebumps on his arms.
âYou have really nice hair, yâknow that?â she mussed it a little as she pulled away.
âMellie tells me that a lot too, she keeps giving me shampoo samples from work, says theyâre good for me,â
âWell, whatever sheâs giving you, its working,â She got off her bed, his sweatshirt just falling below her ass. It started to ride up a bit as she opened her bedroom door and walked out into the front room.
It was just a little peak of skin, just enough for him to see how her sleep shorts had ridden up her thighs, hugging her curves tightly. Fuck, this was not the time to get hard, Clyde. He willed himself to settle down and she turned around in the doorway.
âYou cominâ? I can make you breakfast if youâd like,â
âIn a minute, I gotta put my hand on,â he hoped it wasn't obvious he was trying to hide his lower body under her blankets. She just nodded and went to the kitchen.
He cursed himself silently, trying to think of things to calm him down. Why was a little bit of skin getting him riled up in the first place? Women came into his bar in bikini tops in the summer if it was hot enough! He tried thinking about the bar, going over the steps to clean it. Mopping the floors, filling napkin dispensers, wiping down the bar, bending her over the bar and taking her right thereâŚ
He groaned, this was not the time for this to start happening. He wasn't even going to be around! He was going to be in a cinderblock cell for christsake!
And there it was, nothing kills the mood faster than the thought of willingly going to jail for a few months. He got out of bed and reattached his prosthetic, feeling sullen. At least heâd have something to think about in jail now.
He went to the kitchen where she was standing by the stove. She had eggs scrambled and put on to two plates and was just starting to put some bacon in the pan. He willed himself to only look at her above the waist.
âHey, Iâm almost done and then we can eat. How do you like your bacon?â
âAre you gonna laugh at me if I say burnt?â
âOnly a little,â her nose crinkled as she laughed, âBut if thatâs what you want, I can do that no problem,â
He got some orange juice out of the fridge and poured it into two glasses before setting them on the living roomâs coffee table. She hadnât bothered to get a kitchen table, said there wasn't much of a point when it was just her in the house. She came over with the plates of food a few minutes later. She set his in front of him, bacon burnt just how he liked. She had obviously taken hers out of the pan a little bit sooner. She turned on the tv to a morning talk show and they ate while listening to a team of too-chipper women argue over whatever the days gossip was.
The longer he stayed with her, the harder if was going to be for him to leave. He pushed the remainder of his eggs around on his place, barely listening to the talkshow. All he could think about was how in a few hours he was going to be in jail and he couldn't tell her. He couldn't prepare her for him saddling her with Duck Tape for months on end. The guilt gnawed at him.
He stood up suddenly, surprising both of them.
âI have to go, Jimmy wanted me to do something for him this morning,â he said quickly. âThanks for making breakfast,â
âThanks for staying over, it wasâ uhâIââ she stumbled over her words, playing with the strings of his sweatshirt. âI appreciate it,â
He stopped rushing to leave and turned to her.
âIâm here for you, Iâm glad I could help,â
âYeah, wellâuhâ Iâll let you know if I need help again,â she smiled at him, âIâll give you your sweatshirt back at work, yeah?â
He swallowed.
âYeah,â
âââââââââââ
The trial went by quickly. It was a minor charge, heâd only serve three months in prison. He had gotten to see his siblings as the sentencing, they sat near the back of the court room. Before the trial began Mellie told Clyde to call her when he could, she was worried.
He did just that only a few hours after arriving at Monroe County Correctional Facility. The line rang twice before she picked up.
âHello?â
âItâs me,â
âClyde! What happened are you okay? The operator just asked me if I wanted to take a call from an inmate,â
âIâm okay, my foot slipped on the gas and I got into a car accident, Iâm serving a short sentence because of some property damages from the building I hit,â
âYou hit a building?â
âIâm okay, I swear. Iâm sorry I didn't get to tell you before, I wasn't allowed much,â
âItâs okay, Iâm glad you're okay. I was so worried about you. Mellie came by to tell me that you were in trouble, but didnât have a lot of details. People were asking about you at the bar, I wasn't sure what to tell them,â
âYou can tell them whatever, I dont mind. Iâm sorry to just be leavinâ you with the bar like this,â
âIâm really not sure what to do to be honest, its strange without you here,â
âYouâll do just fine, Iâve seen you work, you know what you're doing. And I trust you,â
âIâll do my best,â She said quietly. âAre you gonna be okay?â
âIâll be fine, its just three months Iâll be back before you realize,â
âOkay, thats not too bad. Do you need commissary money? Do you want me to visit?â
âNo, Mellie and Jimmy can handle the money donât you worry about that. Andââ he stopped himself.
He wanted to see her. He really did. But then he looked down at his prison uniform and his bare limb. The guards told him he couldn't have his prosthetic in prison, it was too easily use as a weapon or a place to hide weapons. So he would be going three months without his hand, which was kept in the safety of his room back home. He looked awful. He felt awful. He didn't want her to see him like this.
âAnd I dont think Iâll be needinâ any visits any time soon, Iâll be okay. Promise,â
âOkay,â It was hard to tell over the phone but he thought he detected a hint of sadness, âAs long as youâre okay,â
âListen, if you ever need any help, call Jimmy or Mellie. Theyâll be around for you,â
âIâll remember that, thanks,â
âAnd I dont get many phone calls, but Iâll keep in touch. Yâknow, to hear about the bar. And you,â He heard her give a breathy laugh.
âIâll put this number in my phone so I know to pick up. And regarding the bar, Iâve got some light gossip to start off withâŚâ
âââââââââââ
The heist was pulled off about a month later. Jimmy had to move up the date by a week because the construction job that made this all possible was closing up early. They rushed to accommodate the time difference but it worked.
Of course there were a few hiccups. They almost got caught a few times, once by the English man whose car Clyde had torched with a molotov cocktail. But he took care of that real quick. And then the bomb Joe Bang was supposed to have made flew back into his arms, giving him a flashback of his service days. And then there was a problem with his prosthetic.
Mellie had given it back to him for the job, it felt good to have it back. It helped him feel like a person again, if only for the few hours he was out of prison. But then Joe Bang had to go and suck it up in the tube that they were using to suck up the money with. Jimmy said heâd get it back for him but it still felt awful to lose it.
And then to have all the Bang brothers confirm his worst fears. People knew why he joined the army, they understood it was because he was trying to be half as good as his brother. Jimmy had a life, he was going to play football, he had his wife and his daughter and was the townâs pride. Clyde just wanted to feel like he was something too. And he almost felt it. Then he lost his hand. And Jimmy lost the football scholarship. But it was all going to be worth it if they pulled this heist off.
And now he comes to hear from his sister that the money was found at a gas station and had been returned to the race track. Jimmy had screwed them all over. And now he was sitting in jail for nothing.
The family curse had worked its magic once again.
He was angry. He didn't talk much to people in the first place but he was almost completely silent for the next week. He did his job mopping the floors, ate his meals, and would lay awake at night in silence.
He didn't want to call her. He had done this heist partially for her. He wanted to get her that money to help her feel the freedom she craved. He was ashamed and couldn't even tell her why. He pushed it from his mind, it hurt too much to think about. He was disappointing her and she didn't even know it.
Mellie came to visit him two weeks after the heist. If she noticed he looked disheveled she didn't comment on it.
âI know you're upset. Hell, weâre all upset, but whatâs done is done. Jimmy isn't talking to anyone about it and we aren't gonna figure this out until he talks. Whichâll be who knows when!â She waved her arms, which made the guard shoot her a warning look. She glared back and looked at there brother again.
âYour girl was asking about you by the way. Sheâs worried about you, you know. You haven't called her in two weeks. She wonât say she misses you but she does. A lot,â
Clyde let out a half-hearted grunt in response. He really didnât want to talk about this with his sister. And he didnât want his sister calling her his âgirlâ. She wasnât his. And wouldnât ever be.
âDid I tell you last time I went to her place she was wearing your sweatshirt? You wanna tell me about that?â She continued, not accepting his grunt as an answer.Â
Clyde groaned. He knew Mellie and her were becoming good friends but he didnât think this would come up.
âItâs nothinâ. She was upset one night and I stayed over is all. I let her keep the sweatshirt because I knew I was gonna be in here and I wanted to give her some comfort,â
âLike a beau would, you mean? And what do you mean âstayed overâ? In her bed?â Clydeâs face was steadily turning a shade of beet red. âClyde, did you and herââ
âNo, Mellie. We did not. Not that itâs your business.â
âBut you want to,â She gave him a look. âWe all see how you look at her, and we see how she looks at you. You two need to get it together already,â
âYou donât know what youâre talkinâ about. She's my employee,â
âWho is runninâ your bar like a champ right now, but the way. She barely even needs help. And donât tell me I donât know what Iâm talkinâ about. I know you, and Iâve spent a helluva lot of time with her now that you aren't around to keep her to yourself,â she pointed a long, manicured nail at him. âYouâre both crazy for each other. Man up and admit it to her,â
âI donât know about all that,â he said quieter. âHavinâ a girl like me like that,â
Mellie softened after hearing that. She knows how hard of a time her brother has had.
âLook Clyde, sheâs different. She cares for you. It shows in how she cooks for you and how sheâs taken to your family, and how she talks about you. Even when you're not there, she talks as if you hung the moon all by yourself.â
His lips pursed together, it sounded too goo to be true.
âShe told me a little about what happened by the way, how she got here. She wouldnât go into detail but she did tell me about how youâve been helping her. Youâre a good person, I know you donât like to hear that but you are. And she knows that. She doesnât judge your past or your disability or even the fact that youâre in a damn prison right now! She liked you for exactly who you are. And sheâs walking around her house in your clothes? Sheâs packaged at your door, you just gotta pick her up,â
He was quiet for a few moments, processing what she had just to him. He felt a glimmer of hope. That things could work out for once,
âTell her Iâll put her on my visitation list, I wanna see her,â Mellie nodded to her brother, breaking into a huge smile.
âSheâs gonna like hearing that,â

Anon: DK once said she traveled 24 hours to see JJ for only one day. She did the same with Norman now
.â¨â¨â¨Anon:
â¨So now that we know DK is definitely in Barcelona (just jared) has anyone still a explanation why she's hiding? Why didn't she attend Normans gallery opening to show they are just friends? Why was she sneaking around in Barcelona alone meanwhile? Why did the fans two days ago say he was with his girlfriend? Why would they lie. Norman is pissing his pants, he deleted comments calling them out. He usually never does this. You all don't know DK, she wouldn't travel the world to see just a friend.â¨â¨â¨
Anon: Â
â¨Just Jared shared pics of DK in Barcelona. It was her with him and they were trying to hide their dirty little secret. I hope someone will call them out now. Norman already deleted some comments calling him out. Seems like he can't take it.â¨â¨â¨
.â¨â¨â¨Anon:
It still ticks me off people are now going to label N as a liar or pos. Dude is probably just trying to protect his privacy. Are they fucking? Probably, but I wouldn't buy them wedding gifts just yet. I can't wait to hear what PR wife has to say lol
â¨â¨Anon:Â
â¨So it was DK on the bike...â¨â¨â¨
Anon:Â
â¨Love you mod! đ I love N but he fucked himself with this one. US papers are going to pick up on this, and I highly doubt his people are going to issue another denial. Which he should have never had them do in the first place. If he's boning her, own up to it, if not, he probably should start. lol I don't see a committed relationship here. Cause this fucker sure flirts/goes out with a lot of other people besides her, many of them women. What do you think mod? Im genuinely curious on ur take?â¨â¨â¨
Anon: Ya'll need to think logical. If Dk was only normans friend she would have been there at his gallery opening yesterday. she definitely wasn't. they are together probably since sky and cheating is involved and now they are trying to hide their dirty little fling. they deserve each other. norman is not the person he claimed to be which disgust me to death. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â --mod--
Don't die anon.
â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨â¨
Oh did you all see Norman and DK let delete all the pictures of them in Barcelona on IG. There were lots of them in both her and his tag and now they all disappeared. Someones trying to hide the dirty secret. They can't take that people called them out when they were sure no one noticed them together in spain. But sure, friends do all this if they don't have anything to hide. Also I wonder why she didn't attend his opening show last night? Friends support friends... oh wait.... ⨠                                                                 --Mod-- I don't think they can delete someone else's photos
â¨Anon:Â
â¨Daily Mail has an article out now too. Well done Norman. Didn't work with the hiding and trying to secretly screw around in Europe. Too bad. I almost feel sorry for his reps, they tried to do damage control and officially denied it because Norman probably lied to them too and now THEY are the ones looking bad. Hope they going to kick his booty out pretty soon. â¨â¨â¨
Anon: â¨Mod I'm sorry but I just will never get it. Why did Norman let his reps deny a romance if he knew he'd secretly meet her in Barcelona just two weeks later? Are his reps okay with this? They gonna look like liars I can't believe they agree with what hes doing. It's Norman's fault and his own problem when the next shitstorm is coming now. He and his reps should have said simply nothing but now they look so shady and false. No one will ever believe them again. And that's why I don't understand it. ⨠                                            -mod-- I don't think your the only one WTF'ing right nowâ¨â¨â¨
Anon: â¨
Norman makes me want to vomit so hard. I'm so sick of him and his shit. He stone cold lied into everyone's face, saying he's just friends with DK. Hell he even let his reps deny it. Wonder how they feel about this now. They will look like liars. If this man was my client I'd kick his ass out faster than he can look. It truly disgusts the hell out of me. Specially a man who claimed to love honesty is the biggest liar. Yo Norman, I hope your image is gonna fall to pieces. No fan deserves this. --mod-- Don't puke too hard you might pull a muscleÂ
â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨
None of the gossip site reporting on NR and DK's relationship seem to believe they are just friends so why should we? â¨--mod-- People can believe what they want. We don't all have to agreeâ¨
â¨â¨Maria: â¨People should calm down â¨The only thing that bothers me regarding the DK/NR situation is the lack of respect of people, they create pages on IG to insult them. They call DK slut, pig, wh*re, etcâŚand they do the same to NR. Come on people, you can not agree with their relationship (friend or love) but have some education and respect, they donât own you anything and you wonât win anything if they stop seeing each other. Mod, sending you some whisky and nachos to help you deal with the crazies.â¨http://www.casimages.com/i/170314052229350479.jpg.htmlâ¨--Mod-- That's a picture of HEAVENÂ
â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨Mod, what do you think now? I may be in the minority but what if they are only friends on his side of the coin but it's HER who wants more? How stupid would Norman be to deny it & knowingly have her come to Barcelona 2 weeks later to make him look like a complete lying fool? Her pap shots leaving NYC & then arriving in Paris weren't exactly secretive either. It's not like she didn't tip off anyone that she was on the move and even what part of the world she was in. Something's not right about it --mod-- I don't I guess. I guess I just don't see as a full on relationship, it's something but not all lovely dovey like this pay for play rags make it out to be.He's never really had a problem with being seen with someone his fans disapprove of.â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨what happened to the DK/NR bike pic?? I can't seem to find it anywhere anymore!! Did everyone just delete it simultaneously orrrr --mod-- It's still out there.â¨â¨
Anon: â¨
Shes clearly not hiding. NO1 barc paparazzi would know who she was or even nobody except online fans knew she COULD be there. Yeah she wore a hoodie but she also was super over the top trying to make ascene and even took off her glasses so they couldclearly get her face never mind wearing the same clothes as when she was on the bike just so we'd know for sure she was with NR. Total setup cos she doesn't like being the dirty little secret. Get out of there gurl i don't like u but u deserve better
 â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨
I don't want to go to wsc to meet him now. He's not who I thought he was. I thought he was always the sweet honest guy he portrayed himself as but if any of this is true, how can he be if this is what he has been hiding and then officially lying about to TMZ and everyone else? does anyone know if you can sell wsc tickets? --mod-- You can totally sell your tickets, I see them on Craigslist all the time. Or you could go and meet someone else.
â¨â¨Anon:Â
â¨I think this hate group did something to NR and DK's benefit. Of course that's not the their purpose but there was so much anger and hatred in their messages. And then everyone felt the need to act to defend them. Have a good day Mod, I love you Can I ask for a gif from you? --mod-- Wait there's a hate group. That's not rad. I'll get your gif up soon. Any requests â¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨I wish Norman would say something else. This looks SO bad. If he's really only just friends with her then I think he needs to put his other foot down. No one is acknowledging his first denial and this just looks so terrible now. She didn't go to the second art gallery because I think it would have overshadowed it like the first, no matter what the truth is (friends or otherwise). So I wish he would do a full statement on this. â¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨To the people saying she didn't want to be seen, that can't be true. If she were REALLY trying to keep it quiet, she didn't have to announce that she was in Europe at all. If he were really trying to keep it quiet, why would he go riding around with her and then take selfies with fans with her standing off to the side? Something isn't adding up! â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨Re: potential cheating. Sky was filmed in very early 2015. The supposed bar kissing was in Dec 2015, right? It's now March 2017, and we're just now seeing pictures of them potentially together. JJ's been spotted kissing women twice since the official split. But no public romance from DK / Norman. If they've been together since say February 2015, (1) that's a long-ass time to be sneaky, (2) esp. since neither seems to have super-duper spy skills, & (3) it's the weirdest "affair" I've ever seen. â¨--mod-- 3 is the best EVERâ¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨I don't understand how everyone can be upset and saying they are done supporting N when there was just a rumor out that he MIGHT be with DK.. But now that it seems he is everyone is fine with it? Makes no sense. My personal opinion (and I've seen this before) he thinks his fans dont approve of his gf just because "theyre crazy fangirls who want him". No, people don't approve because of WHO the girl is. If I recall weren't most of his previous gf liked? Haha btw love your blog. Great job modđ â¨--mod-- Most we generally liked I believeÂ
â¨Anon: â¨
Wait, am I the only one who thinks they could just be friends? I don't understand why people aren't believing his denial? He denied they were dating not that they were friends. Maybe she had time so she went over to Barcelona from Paris as friends? Maybe he didn't lie at all?? Maybe she's the one still after his fame?Â
â¨Anon:
â¨I can't believe he did this. He blatantly LIED. Even if they had been together and keeping it quiet, he puts out a denial only to be caught??? I don't get it. Why would he stay silent for a year, then put out a denial then get caught with her? I don't understand any of this!!! I am SO disappointed in him. I can't believe he would lie to his fanbase so blatantly. I defended him for so long. And it's not because I'm "jealous" I'm genuinely hurt by his lying. He has no respect for us as fans. â¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨I don't believe for one second they are dating. Just Jared is not exactly reputable and the article did say they were NOT seen together. I think it's nothing more than friends if even that. DK is sad and shady AF and it's obvious this is all for attention on her part. --mod-- đđđ
â¨â¨Anon: â¨â¨
Mod can I ask for your opinion? Do you think it's possible they *are* just friends? I can't get over that she planted those pap shots (both NYC and Bcla) so I can't believe he would risk his reputation by making a statement that they were friends before that and then get caught sneaking? Maybe he's just tired of having to not be seen with females he associates with? It's not a big deal for rich people to fly around the world. â¨--mod--
Anythings possible. The shots are just weird and so are the articles. Whatever is going on they should probably talk it out, get on the same page and then do whatever they want. Also what I said makes no sense my brain hurtsÂ
â¨Anon:
â¨If NR and DK were just friends I don't get why she's trying to hard not to be seen in Barcelona? It's obvious from the pics she was trying not to be spotted but why bother if you've got nothing to hide? --mod-- They may not have anything to hide, but regardless of what they do or don't do is going to be picked apart. She really isn't trying hard not to be seen. She's not hiding. Hiding is not walking around in broad daylight. I'm not shading her at all, she was in a beautiful city and was taking in the sights. But if your going to hide and you know people are looking for you, you don't go outside and stroll the streets. Just my opinion. â¨â¨â¨
Anon: â¨â¨
Norman is not who I thought he was. He apparently lies and cheats and sneaks around. I am so upset. It has nothing to do with him being with someone but the way he lied about it. He's not the person he said he was to his fans. How can we believe anything he says to us anymore? I believed in him so much. He broke my heart if this is all true. â¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨Mod I am so confused! We know that she is the one who paid for the NYC garage photos, then his PR makes a statement to deny it and then he is caught with her again? And she has paid for the new paparazzi pics bc no way would people even know to look for her in Barcelona. So what is going on? Why would he deny it on one side KNOWING that she would be trying to make it look real? If they were together, he would have known they were coming out so why would he make himself out to look like a liar?? â¨--mod-- No idea. â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨Maybe this will all end now that it's obvious they are a couple no way their just friends. I will say DK didn't look to happy in those set up pap pictures norman not giving her his attention poor baby â¨â¨
Anon: â¨
I'm sorry people but them coming out its not because will be a 'cheating scandal' when that shit was not even a cheating since there is no proof of that. They dont 'come out' because norman wants a fwb relationship. He denied anything with her because in the end they dont have a committed relationship and he couldnt say yeah we are friends that fuck. Diane obviously wants more than what she has but if she continues this greedy i see her in a very short minute being send to space very quick. â¨â¨
Anon: â¨
If he was really interested in her and protecting her he had not denied anything and everything with her and since she was in barcelona he would have taken her to exhibition but since she didnt did that she made an 'oh so casually' paps pics when paps are not even common thing in barcelona. She is a friend that he fucks and he is willing to go all over the world at his call. that is her place on his life. she wants more but since he doesnt give her she tries to make it more than it is via tabs
â¨â¨â¨Anon: norman wanted a fwb and made a problem...lol to me is very simple. He called her for a bootycall and she was willing to go. Non of the less and since she couldnt set him up...AGAIN, she calls the paps to 'catch her' in the middle of barcelona where she is not even well know or there is paps for C list celebs. It's obvious to me too this have NOTHING to him protecting her or not. he clearly doesnt want the same as her she is the one pushing and being ridiculous.
â¨Anon: I still think she was there for his art show ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ friends support each other. â¨â¨Anon: â¨Hey Mod, I noticed the story is in the Daily Mail too. Isn't that who DK pays off? And how come NO one talks about the denial he issued? Could you ask pr wife what she thinks now? â¨â¨
Anon: â¨MOD! Please tell us what you think. I don't understand something: Why would his PR people make him out to LOOK like a liar??? Because that is exactly what he looks like now. They have made it look like he IS sneaking around now. How is that beneficial to him?? Something is so weird with all this because the Daily Mail is all over it and she pays them. Am I the only one who is suspicious? â¨--mod-- I dont think your the only side eyeing it. It's just so weirdâ¨â¨â¨
Karyn:
Some thoughts. Sure, it all looks shady af but until I see pics of them holding hands or kissing Iâm going to believe the âjust friendsâ. Notice how sheâs always shown up to where he is? Italy, France, & now Spain. He didnât travel to Europe to see her when she was filming. She could just be one of those types of clingy women who might be sad/desperate/lonely after the end of a 10 year relationship, 40 years old, seeking something from someone - ANYONE! I think a lot of women can relate to that feeling of âI want someone to love meâ after a break up and make dumb choices. Anyone who has ever been to a Con or seen Norman meet fans on the street, the guy has infinite patience so maybe heâs just being nice to a friend and sheâs a little hopeful. Or maybe Iâm totally wrong. Lol. Just remember, at this time there is absolutely ZERO actual proof they cheated.
â¨â¨â¨Anon: â¨
So the annona source on blinds said there's something interesting that went down in Barcelona with the dk stuff. Can't wait to hear what it is. Sadly he is still in his fwb with her and the other lady who we won't name out of respect even tho he wants more with her. Why Norman can you not cut off toxic people like DK? She called the paps AGAIN. â¨
Anon:Â
â¨Alright, the way I see it, there's only two options left: 1. They are dating and they are both hypocritical liars. Or 2. DK has gone batshit crazy and is following Norman to the ends of the earth to save her quickly falling career. Question is - IF that's the case, why the hell is he playing in on it? It only reflects badly on him
â¨â¨Anon: Do people not realise how horrible it is that JDM and his wife can be papped kissing and being affectionate on the beach but NR and DK have to hide themselves and their relationship because of crazy fans?! I feel so sad for them that DK is having to walk around Barcelona undercover and that they can't be seen anywhere near each other because of fear of backlash. It's awful that some internet bullies are having a direct effect on two people's lives like that. --mod-- Those are 2 very different relationships. It's a married couple -vs- a maybe could be couple with all sorts of shady around them
. â¨â¨â¨Anon:Â
â¨I am wondering if they ever officially go public. To me the difference between a relationship versus casual fwb would be things like he did with his last girlfriend. Even though he still never publicly acknowledged his ex, look at everything he did with her: Going on vacation alone together his usual places (without hiding it). Her visiting/living with him in GA, time with his family, vacay with him and his son, set visits, etc. She's gonna want him at events w/her which he did w/CS at first. --mod-- TouchĂŠâ¨â¨
Anon:Â
â¨Maybe this is their way of going public? Or at least not caring if ppl see them anymore. Think about it. They were both in NYC, he'll return in a week. If they wanted to continue hiding why would she go all the way to Spain and be out in public with him? Why is she paying mags to take pics of her and write up articles? And ppl can say well that's just her but he's obviously fine with it. Putting on a hoodie and sunglasses before paps take your pic for the daily mail is not "incognito" lol --mod-- If this was a coming out it's done horribly. I mean they could've at least sent me whiskey before hand. đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł â¨â¨â¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨well, so much for his "brand" LMAO! most def not investing a single dime in ANY of his cheating lying asses work. frankly, i was getting tired of TWD anyway. --mod-- But Negans lean back is the best... you should at least tune in just to see how far he goes back â¨â¨â¨
Anon:
â¨I believe Norman and Diane are secretly dating and I know as fans we shouldn't judge his personal life. But If the cheating scandal was true I can't say what he did was right. If Norman really did had a affair with Diane Kruger and did that to Joshua Jackson I feel like that was wrong to do. I still support Norman as a fan but at the same time I can't say what he did was okay.â¨

Story time So back when I was like 16/17 my Mom would try to hook me up with small arty gigs cause I was super harsh on myself and thought no one would want anything I made, and she wanted me to have like, resume fodder. So, every so often she'd come to me with damaged family photos and whatnot for me to restore, cause that was what I was best at. I quite enjoyed it for the most part, even when some of the work was emotional. (For example, I was in charge of restoring photos of a relative that passed away for the funeral) Then, one day my Mom comes to me about this local band. Apparently, her friend was friends with some of the band members or something, and they had recently lost the digital file of their logo. All they had left of it was some t-shirts. Well, they sorta needed a digital copy for posters, and were at a loss. That's where I come in. Mom introduced me to the band's manager, who seemed nice enough. I was super nervous though, cause I was young and never had a "professional" job before. Mom let me do my thing, trying to give me some life experience. Learn to fly on my own by pushing me off a cliff and all that. Anyways, I did pretty ok. The manager and I email and text back and forth for a bit, and he gave me a photo of the shirt, which I used to recreate the logo. It was rough, but good enough considering the lack of Photoshop knowledge i had compared to today. I emailed dude and told him it was done. He says, "great I would also like some physical copies just in case this happens again" This is where things get a little..off. See, again, I was young and didn't know how professional relationships worked yet since I never had a job. I just sorta blindly trusted all adults cause they knew better than me. HAHA DON'T DO THAT KIDS. So, he asks to meet up so I can give him some prints and he can pay me. I'm like yeah sure ok. I'm thinking we'll meet up at like, his office or whatever, cause professional shit. But, instead, he's like, "cool let's meet up at this local sports bar." Little red flags raised, but I was like, nah man, money. More flags raised when he also proposed that he drive me there if need be, since I was a youngin' that might not have a car, but I was smart and said no to that one. So, I agreed to meet up. Dude looked about 40-50 years old, and honestly, I remember thinking he looked like an overweight Gomez Addams without the mustache. I straighten up, trying to look as cool headed and adult as possible, cause I wanted to make a good impression, in case I use him as a reference or something. He pays me, and I give him the photos, and all's good. Obviously though, I start to get uncomfortable, cause, I'm not about to sit here and have dinner with this dude who is basically a stranger. I told him I had no money to eat, and that I wanted to save the cash he gave me, but then he offered to pay for the meal. In my head I'm all like, "fuck no dude, who even are you." But I was polite and said no thanks. He then asked if I wanted to meet the band. At this point I was just anxiety driven, and didn't want to upset this adult, so I agreed to see them. I honestly wanted nothing else to do with all this, cause my job was done, and that's that. Cut to two days later and I go to this old movie theater turned church that dude sends me to. Turns out they are a local Christian rock group, and they practice at this place. This makes me a bit more comfortable, cause I was Catholic for a long time, and I generally saw active Christians as nice people, that can be trusted. I watch the band practice, the manager sits next to me to my dismay, and the band members are pretty ecstatic about the cleaned up logo. They tell me that they practice there every Sunday, and that I should come by and watch cause we're buddies now? Idk. I agree though cause I love rock music, and felt obligated, since they were adults, and I blindly followed whatever they said as I mentioned earlier. Bad plan. So, these guys all add me on Facebook, along with Mr manager. I'm not too keen about all this, but I hated to hurt peoples feelings sooooo fuck me. Manager starts messaging me on fb a bit more than I was comfortable with. Just asking life questions, all that jazz. Every week he would ask to drive me there and he would sit next to me and get..flirty. He would even, at times, put his arm around my shoulder. I was terrified. I didn't know what to do. He even knew I was underage at the time which made it worse. I didn't tell Mom, cause I wanted her to be proud of me for fighting my own battles or some bullshit. BTW DONT FOLLOW MY LEAD HERE, TELL A FUCKING ADULT WHEN YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE DEAR LORD. So, anyways, I stopped going to practices pretty fast. I wasn't gonna have it. I even invited a friend to go with me once, cause I was nervous (but didn't tell him that) and he was all like, "man, I don't like that manager guy. He gives me weird vibes. Maybe you shouldn't go anymore" Almost immediately after I made the decision to stop going though, I get a message from one of the band members on fb. None of them had messaged me before so I was a little confused. That bastard, wrote "I know someone that likes you." Like some middle schooler, teasing their classmates with playground gossip. That was the last straw for me, thank God. This guy knew damn well that I was a minor, and also knew that his manager was flirting with me. This guy condoned it. I snapped at him, telling him that all I was there for was a job, and I expected to be treated with respect. I told him to act like a professional, and not a 12 year old schoolboy. None of them ever messaged me again. To this day my Mom doesn't know. Honestly I got damn lucky. So, few morals here. Always command respect, even from adults. If you're unsure about a situation, go with your gut. Follow the red flags. Tell someone about it, don't be a tough guy, cause no man's an island. We as a species need each other's help. You aren't alone. And finally, if you do have to meet with a client face to face, make sure you only meet in a professional environment, because that's what the relationship is. Just had to get that one out cause I recently saw that they made a fb page for the band and I just wanna fuck em up tbh.
#long post#pedophillia tw#wow I did not expect to write that much#I'm bad at story telling but I hope its readable#honestly I look back on this a lot and wonder wtf#how did I not realize and how did I end up so lucky as to not have something really bad happen

So... Welcome to Night Vale found its way into the Discord chat. Ideas about Cecil flew. XD It was so much fun!
@drunk-lalondes
Kali- Today at 8:56 PM Feels about living tattoos Cecil?
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:56 PM ngl i have no headcanon cecil okay i have a minor one: multi-armed cecil because he says he is ALWAYS carrying his microphone
Kali - Today at 8:56 PM I like tentacles cecil
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:56 PM
and that he is ALWAYS carrying his Little Reporters Notebooks
*Notebook
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:57 PM other than that, nothin'
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:57 PM tbh tentacles cecil makes me uncomf because i only ever see it in use for smut
Kali - Today at 8:58 PM Laaaame
Kali - Today at 8:58 PM I should write a non-smut tentacle cecil
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:58 PM that would be amazing
Kali - Today at 8:58 PM Where he just, has them
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:58 PM yes please
Kali - Today at 8:58 PM And everything else is the same
TGP - Today at 8:58 PM uses them to pick up shit maybe one to write because it has better handwriting than his hands does the fancy curly cues any everything
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 8:59 PM i would be fine if it was used in fanfic/art for more than smut but ??? omg thats amazing
TGP - Today at 8:59 PM  i live to please
Kali - Today at 9:00 PM Yeeessss And like, their different lengths, too. So one is the "get shit down off of high shelves" tentacle
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:00 PM holy fuck
Kali - Today at 9:01 PM And one is the 'hold the microphone because that's all you're good for' tentacle
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:01 PM carlos asks if the tentacles have any particular use, in terms of biologically and evolutionarily, and cecil replies in the most mundane ways
TGP - Today at 9:01 PM like this is the most normal thing. like cecil is both thrilled and confused why carlos keeps asking about it
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:02 PM gives an annoyed sigh as he looked at one that is in the process of regrowing because he tried too hard to unscrew a jar and it got damaged and he just cut it off because thats easier and now he cant open any spreads carlos is ??? just use ur hands and cecils gives him a look like no thats my jar-unscrewing tentacle its used for unscrewing jars
TGP - Today at 9:03 PM i can't just take it's purpose away from it.
Kali - Today at 9:03 PM Yeeeeesssss I  you guys so much
TGP - Today at 9:03 PM
Kali - Today at 9:03 PM Yes
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:05 PM
frick now i want to write some tenta!cecil
Kali - Today at 9:05 PM And like, three of his tentacles are obsessed with Carlos' hair Because they're pseudo-sentient on their own Doooo iiiiiiit
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:06 PM dont octopi have their brains in their tentacles or smth im wWRITING SOMETHING ELSE
Kali - Today at 9:06 PM It's more like their tentacles have such a large amount of nerves in them that it forms a kind of rudimentary brain Or something like that
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:06 PM sobs why doesn't discord have autocorrects and stuff i reply on it aaaa gotcha
Kali - Today at 9:07 PM I'd have to do Actual Research to get a solid, factual answer tho
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:07 PM lmao who does that
Kali - Today at 9:07 PM Me Lots and lots of me
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:07 PM we bullshit like me *men
Kali - Today at 9:07 PM Lol That too All fics are a cross between loads and loads of research and strategically placed bullshit
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:08 PM yee
Kali - Today at 9:09 PM Tho, I love living tattoos cecil Like, so much Especially when they decide that they're gonna migrate over to carlos And just, like, every time they touch, the tattoos go back and forth I
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:10 PM thats cute asldka
Kali - Today at 9:10 PM Dude. Dude What if two of the tentacles had eyes. Not like, on the tips And not completely covering them But just like, a respectable number of eyes, randomly dotted along the tentacle
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:11 PM omg yessss
Kali - Today at 9:11 PM And they're different colors and shapes
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:11 PM yES
Kali - Today at 9:11 PM And Carlos gets the feeling that some of them see into different dimensions
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:11 PM omg yes sometimes the eyed tentacles react randomly, as if flinching back from other realities
Kali - Today at 9:12 PM Or extending outward, like they want a better look And sometimes, after something like that, the other tentacles will just... Have something. Something they didn't have before And they'll just hand it to Carlos like a cat bringing their owner a dead bird
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:13 PM yes yeS
Kali - Today at 9:13 PM ^_^
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:14 PM the eyed tentacles get along with simone rigadeau from the earth sciences building quite well, despite just being tentacles
Kali - Today at 9:14 PM nodnods And occasionally the Erikas will drop by just to pet them for a while
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:15 PM some of the bowling team thinks the tentalces are an unfair advantage cecil is offended
because tentacle no. 7 is OBVIOUSLY a hinder wandering around everywhere
Kali - Today at 9:16 PM In the end he usually bowls on three lanes at once, just to shut Steve carlsburg up
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:16 PM amazing
Kali - Today at 9:16 PM ^_^ (Tentacle number 7, the only tentacle who still doesn't have much of a job, will sometimes tickle Cecil right as he releases the ball, making him send it straight into the gutter)
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:17 PM holy shit i love it cecil treats it like a bad pet
Kali - Today at 9:18 PM nodnods Carlos sneaks it dog treats, which it loves, despite a lack of any visible way of consuming them
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:19 PM they just kind of dissolve
Kali - Today at 9:19 PM nodnods
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:19 PM sometimes cecil grows a new tentacle or an old one just disappears and sometimes they represent new, very impotrant things in his life
Kali - Today at 9:20 PM Cecil once had to go a week without shoes, because the tidying-up tentacle went on strike, and he couldn't reach that far under his bed for them
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:20 PM like carlos' hair, or the one that holds his mic omg
Kali - Today at 9:20 PM Yeeesssssss
Cee this huge fukin nerd - Today at 9:21 PM but then carlos sees one that looks new and is like, beautifully patterned it nearly makes him weep to look at it its so amazing he asks what its for it curls up and shakes at the sky when cecil rants about steve thats all it does
#Welcome to night vale#writerly feelings#discord chat#writing#this is what it's like#folks#it's awesomesauce#if you write#come join us!#Cecil with tentacles#should not be used just for smut#that is a huge waste people

Is this legit? How is this not exploding right now?
It will. Itâs 3 am on a Monday night, this will go ham tomorrow morn.
Just about midnight here in California (but this story wonât see the light of day here). Looking forward to seeing this get huge
the world is better because of people like you. think iâve seen your username before too
I appreciate that, you as well. Keep on the righteous path
Heâs a bot
wow, a feel good bot and you canât even see âhisâ post history. Really strange shit.
Except here on Reddit. The liberal circle jerk will keep it out of the main subs.
Itâs OâKeefe so media will ignore it âcause heâs a criminal and propagandistâ.
OANN will be playing this at 11a.m. Eastern
One America News Network said they are going to show the tapes at 11a.m. eastern!
7 hours later and itâs been taken down
Maybe thatâs how.
This guy has been popped before for editing videos in ways that change the message and it was really early in the morning. The other thing is that his guy works for CNN Health, but w.e.
in ways that change the message
Any examples? I hear this said but in context his videos have always seemed equally damning. Taking down ACORN put a target on his back during an adminstration known for prosecuting joirnalists and political enemies so saying âzomg community serviceâ doesnât cut it for me.
Any examples? I hear this said but in context his videos have always seemed equally damning. Taking down ACORN put a target on his back during an adminstration known for prosecuting joirnalists and political enemies so saying âzomg community serviceâ doesnât cut it for me.
Any examples? How about the one you named yourself. OâKeefe had to pay out $100,000 to one of the former ACORN employees after he handed over the entire unedited videos which the California AG reviewed and found, âno evidence of criminal conduct on the part of ACORN employees nor any evidence that any employee intended to aid or abet criminal conduct.â
He even admitted in that case that he was just trying to damage ACORN and wasnât acting with any sort of journalistic objectivity.
His entire career is like that. He releases âdamningâ video evidence which when compared to the raw video prove to be heavily edited segments which misrepresent the stated views of the people he films by removing context or chronologically shifting the video to make it appear bad.
By comparison, OâKeefe makes media outlets like CNN and Fox with their horribly biased and non-journalistic practices look like absolute angels.
Youâre acting like the one good employee ACORN had absolves the other horrible employees who willingly helped a supposed pimp who was prostituting out underage girls and never sought help from a child advocacy group let alone the police after the meeting. Youâre doing some subterfuge yourself. If OâKeefeâs undercover vids on ACORN encouraged a reform and improved protocol on how employees react to pimps and who they should contact after, then it was worth it bc, apparently, most of the employees donât have an idea of what is right or wrong, including when it involves pedophilia.
No wrongdoing was found to have occurred by ACORN when the full video came out. That was the findings of the California AG office and the federal Government Accountability Office.
Well, half true. The case in California was a terrible case and Okeefe should be ashamed for not following through on what the workers did after he left. But the Brooklyn DA reviewed the tapes that affected their region and found that although they were heavily edited, the most damning words were still very much in context.
There was 100% wrong doing found at ACORN. Youâre a liar. There was no criminal wrong doing. As being an unethical asshole is not against the law. One of the employees caught on tape had gone to the police and had been leading on OâKeefe. There was no way for OâKeefe to know that; the rest of the employees did not. That employee sued him as they lost their job and were doing the right thing.
Which means the rest of them were actively giving advice for criminal conduct and had no intention of reporting it to the police.
Not really, the msm just do to okeefe what they did to center of medical progress. Throw around âdeceptive editâ and dont back it up when the full tapes are released.
What part is fake?
Itâs a project veritas release. The people who keep getting busted for releasing edited and out of context videos. The odds of this being legit are approaching zero. Basically, nothing this guy releases is true. He literally generates the fake for fake news.
Can you back that up?
Please provide citations.

Thank you, good sir.
Iâm sure Iâm the minority opinion here but project veritas has a history of editing video. I donât think we should look too much into what they do until they release raw footage. When it cuts to the background images for the âbecause itâs ratingsâ part it sounds very different than the preceding lines. CNN does suck 99% of the time but that doesnât mean any attack against it is credible.
All videos are edited. Every single one. This âdeceptive editâ crap falls apart when the full vidoes are released showing it in the same context.
Ok then letâs wait until the full video is released before making concrete judgments.
We do; and they are vindicated every time by those of us who bothered to watch them. Meanwhile useful idiots read an article from Salon that claims they watched the full videos and that the clips were deceptively edited. Releasing the full videos does not get the Democrats to shut up about âdoctoredâ videos; as that is their only deflection of the deep seated corruption within their party and their political allies.
[removed]
Can you provide a context in which his comments would be seen as ok?
Itâs a business, people are like âThe media has like an ethicalâŚâ psssshhhhhâŚ
But all the nice cutesy little ethics that used to get talked about in journalism school, youâre just like, thatâs adorable. Thatâs adorable. This is a business
You honestly couldnât make up a worse quote if you tried to. Holy shit.
The saddest part is his words wouldnât be so damning if they werenât so honest.
Probably the first time he does something honest, and it is going to backfire on him.
But muh context!
Iâm sure they must have edited out a part at the beginning where the Project Veritas guy said âletâs play a game where I ask you questions and you make up fake answers that make CNN look as horrible as possible.â Or a part at the end where the CNN guy said âlol jk I really had you going there didnât I?â Right guys??
HOW DARE HE ATTACK THE STELLAR REPORTERS OF CNN
DON LEMON IS ETHICS INCARNATE
ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A RACIST
So, politics aside. People stopped paying for real reporting and news. Combine the lack of interest in actual reporting, and the media mergers and newspaper buyouts, etc and you get this media environment. It rewards shock headlines and âfake news,â because no one wanted to purchase journalism and even if they did, public trading of news companies means cost cutting and share holder profits are more important than newsâŚ. so what?
we have only one model that doesnât get fucked by this and it is NPR. And NPR ainât great, because government funding for it got cut years ago and the replacement âfunding from âcharitable foundations for agenda reporting,â and listener donations sucks. So decent reporters bounce out of NPR ASAP and American suffers.
So the market is rewarding sensationalism, and firms are producing sensationalism?
Yes.
But this isnât anything new. Sensationalist news has been a part of the human experience for centuries.
Media mongrel Hearst from the early 20th century made his fortune off of fake news. It was common in the 19th and early 20th century. Some what died down in the mid 20th century; and became dominant again at the end of the 20th century.
we have only one model that doesnât get fucked by this and it is NPR.
NPR has a horrible liberal bias. Theyâll pick a topic like âThe benefits of abortionâ and then discuss the topic in a somewhat fair manner. But the bias was built into the topic and no amount of honest discussion can overcome that, especially when 90% of the people talking are liberals.
I really like this response, because I agree, but not exactly in the same way. Your response illustrates a particular problem: You think NPR has a liberal bias, because you are to the right of it. I think NPR has a centrist bias, because Iâm to the left of it. Either way, we both think NPR doesnât represent our views fairly and doesnât ask questions in an objective way.
NPR leans left; though not as much as CNN. If you were going to give it a scale of -10 to 10 (positive 10 being extreme conservative):
MSNBC: -8
CNN: -4
NPR: -2/-3
Fox: 4
National Review: 8
So if youâre a typical reader of Salon or viewer of MSNBC and you have been duped into thinking youâre somewhat moderate; than you may think NPR is âtowardsâ the center. But there is no doubt that it leans left.
Business Insider did a piece of news source bias a few years back. NPR is, as per their research, not close to centrist but leftist .
This is cool link, however it does not say what you say it does, it says the âAudience of NPR is more liberal.â It makes no conclusions about the content.
As a regular NPR listener, I can assure you that they spend a wildly disproportionate amount of time pushing issues that are only important to a tiny minority of the population (surprise: that would be a varied number of far-left activist groups that send them press releases on the topic). In the particular example Iâm thinking of, the cause represents something like 10% of a 5-10% minority in the U.S. I hear the same ânewsâ and âpersonal interestâ stories promoting that issue literally every day. The only things that ever change are the names of the people involved (and maybe one or two minor details). Itâs the exact same political narrative, hammered over and over and over again. It is literally no longer newsworthy, yet I still hear it in their ânewsâ coverage every day.
The thing is, Iâm sure that NPR doesnât even realize how disproportionately theyâre covering the topic. Itâs of particular interest to them and most of their audience because it reinforces their preexisting worldview biasesâŚand the issue has been weaponized and is now being used to attack anyone on the âotherâ side of that issue.
The thing is that they make no bones about it being liberal, and they are at least good at disclosure. You hear how liberal they are every 15 minutes when the call out supporters.
They also have conservative guests on all the time. Congressmen, PR staff from think-tanks, candidates and staff. They come off as smart, engaged people just looking to make things better. Sure, most of the audience and all the staff think theyâre wrong. But itâs opposition, not smears
If you just want to know whatâs going on in the world, you could do a whole lot worse.
I stopped listening to NPR during the 2012 election. They would have a âpanelâ about a political topic. The Moderator would be a hard core democrat. Then he would have 3 panelists on. One who was extremely far left (socialist), one who was a hard core Democrat, and one who was moderate (who they called a Republican). The âRepublicanâ threw Romney and Republicans under the bus on every topic and talked about how Republicans were extreme (the guy supposedly representing Right).
That panel would have been horrible enough had they had a real conservative on there who actually believed in Republican policies (as he would be out numbered 3:1); but the fact that they put up a strawman of a Republican on just so he could provide legitimacy to the program was down right infuriating. Fuck that network.
Thank you for being a voice of reason. The real shock of this video should be the realization that all our media is like this, not just CNN.
Thank you for not going directly to the T_D âfuck MSM, CNN, theyâre out to get usââŚ
I may not agree with most of yâall on a lot of issues, but I do agree that there are loads of issues plagueing(sp?) this country. Media and journalism being pretty damn high up there. Especially the fact that it is a driving force if the polarization and partisanship of politics we have today.
I am a big fan of government funded stuff like NPR/PBS/etc, but the thing I am worried about just as you are is how can this be funded by the [insert political party] without them having undue influence over content and context that is out outâŚitâs a tough question with a probably even tougher solution.
Every group will deny and try to fight news and reporting that makes them look bad. Itâs PR, I get it, but when that party is directly responsible for the funding of said programming, how can one prevent retaliation when they report on the actions (good or bad) of that party.
If liberals can post salon and mother jones articles 24/7 on r/politics, theyâll probably believe whatever CNN told them anyway.
My new favorite is holding the independent up as some holy bastion of new reporting. Its little more than a tabloid
And the Guardian
US liberals like to pretend that UK news outlets are never biased
I would argue that UK news outlets are more biased.
But theyâre European. Theyre much smarter than us hillbilly Americans /s
Iâm in complete agreement. There is a very scummy element is These English news outlets. Have a read about the phone hack scandals if you want a good laugh
just goes to show how morally bankrupt CNN and the rest of the MSM is.
Cable news, in general, is wet, hot garbage.
Print and other forms of news are just as bad though.
Itâs literally all dogshit.
This project verita video is amazing though. Puts it all out right in display.
We have the best undercover journalists, donât we folks?
Amazing? I thought it was over produced and repetitive. They showed the same lines six times in a row.
Thatâs project veritas for ya
Still good that this is out there but the editing is crap lol
If everything is bad, where do you get your information?
Consensus and time.
Most of the time, most of the news from all these different âpartisanâ outlets is actually identical. Thereâs not much difference in the handling of facts, only the angle or the narrative. So when youâre looking up a story that actually matters, read the same story from 8 different, competing, clashing outlets so that forming a narrative is impossible.
News outlets are dishonest, but they donât usually fabricate. Their spin is more like a reality TV show being edited, inserting context, or removing relevant facts. Reading all the different edits at the same time quickly reveals what is craft, and what is real. Once you do that, you have the facts.
The news brings you the facts because thatâs what you ask for. But thatâs not really what people want. Their business model is about offering clarity, interpreting the facts into understandable storylines. They take a complicated, crowded, confusing world, and make it nice and neat. Demand is created for a product that has nothing to do with facts. If the news industry was a gas station, facts would be the gasoline, and narrative would be the snacks and drinks.
âThe newsâ is an entertainment product. News junkies are not informed people, they are just entertainment addicts. If you want to be informed, you have to think like a journalist, not an addict.
e: TV news is especially bad because of the medium. TV is slow, information-light, and non-interactive. Good for interviews and speeches, little else.
At the end of the day, this is what happens if you leave journalism to the free market. State sponsored news would be infinitely worse, of course, but this video is a perfect example of what happens when you try and make informing people a business.
I only trust news that doesnât use click bait titles, doesnât use dramatic language, and moves on to something else once the segment is over. That pretty much leaves pbs.
The current media situation is a direct result of the elimination of the fairness doctrine by Reagan, and especially the Telecommunications act of 1996 courtesy of Clinton. Itâs astoundingly difficult to get a straight true version of almost any news event these days.
I know what you are trying to say, but I would actually argue it is easier.
With the internet and the democratization of information, it is not that difficult to get actual hard facts and even read spin from all sides and form your own opinion.
I think most people are just either lazy, donât care, or want to read something from their perspective. With your take, it seems the only logical solution would be some state intervention or some new law, which would not be good.
That is a lot of trust in people. Most people just use the internet to find the âfactsâ to back their pre-conceived belief and stop there.
Its how weâve ended up in/with huge echo chambers as the divide in the country grows and grows.
While I donât necessarily disagree with your statement, and donât trust people, I just think the vast majority donât care.
Actually most people donât give a shit about politics like us, and they shouldnât. It is difficult to see that when you are passionate about it and caught up in discussion and the news everyday.
I donât really give a shit about politics either. I just like being well-informed. That means being informed about the shell game that is modern American politics.
I sort of disagree about the internet part. I think the internet contributes to the problem because it allows people with zero critical thinking skills access to reams of truly fake news that they arenât equipped to deal with. I recall a few months ago my Facebook feed lit up with stories posted by my more conservative friends and relatives about how Clinton was under indictment, and had fled the country in a private jet with the FBI hot on her heels. Then there was the whole pizzagate thing that ended with a guy barging into a pizza restaurant with a gun looking for a nonexistent basement full of pedophilia victims. I donât know what the solution to all this is because regulating the internet in any way that would alleviate the problem would have massive negative consequences, and would most likely be unconstitutional to boot.
I understand your point, and it is made by many, if not most.
I just completely disagree, and believe you, and others, are blowing it out of proportion. One, I understand many people get their ânewsâ from facebook, but it is not a news source. Rarely are people actually reading the articles posted, just the headlines and othersâ opinions and then arguing in the comment section. It is more of an activity than just getting the news.
And ok people are dumb and lazy, but still, the majority of Americans, as they should be, are politically apathetic and actually donât care about any of this shit. They just want their cute cat videos and memes, go to their jobs pay for their shit and pursue their own happiness. It is tough to see that when you are passionate about politics and see the craziness going on, as am I, but it is true.
And pizzagate was a fringe conspiracy, not believed by many, and I understand that more were open to it being true, but only a very small amount actually actively believed in it. And, overtime, the community who did actively believed in it shrunk, and I believe that is a direct result of continuous research and discussion on the open internet. That guy who went to the pizza parlor clearly was crazy and has some other issues, and was he motivated or spurred by this small fringe conspiracy community? Yes, probably, but again, it was very, very small. I am more concerned about main stream news outlets and the left openly saying the GOP is going to kill people and all republicans are Nazis, which is all accepted and mainstream, and if true, I mean somewhat justifies violence, if they are all Nazis and going to kill people?
So, you speak of trying to find a solution to something that is not really a problem. That is just what scares me, the left and right do that all the time. Err on the side of not making laws or regulations or âsolutionsâ, freedom and the market takes care of it. The internet is much more of solution than contributing to a small problem. That form of thinking, even from a conservative point of view, only leads down the road to regulation and control, and less freedom.
Iâd agree with you if I didnât see people I regarded as reasonable and intelligent falling for this crap on a daily basis. Iâll also reiterate that Iâm in no way advocating for more internet regulation, but I donât buy the free market will fix things argument either. The free market follows profits, and telling people what they want to hear will always be more profitable, than telling simple truth.
Yes, the internet gives critical-thinkers the power to consume a ton of reports and form their own opinions, but most people arenât doing this. Most people donât use the internet for investigative or comparative journalism. Most people get their ânewsâ from their television or radio broadcast of choice.
We donât need new laws to regulate what can and cannot be reported. We donât need a government agency picking winners and losers by controlling funding or airtime. We need some goddamn leadership. We need a president or other high-visibility leader who can be trusted, who has proven integrity, and who communicates with âboth sidesâ to speak to the importance of holding journalists and media networks accountable.
We need the press to keep the government in check, but we need to keep the press in check. âWeâ, on average, donât give a shit, so itâs hard to see this starting with us. The corporate click-bait press isnât likely to usher a true leader into the White House, and the people there now sure as hell arenât going to change their tune to their own detriment, so I donât know how we get here. Sad.
âfairness doctrineâ has nothing to do with this. It was a ploy to force radios to give liberal commentators shows that no one would listen to and they would lose money on.
Donât forget that public trading of media companies means they are beholden to share holders, rather than accountable to the general public for the quality of their journalism.
hiding under the guise of the first amendment to publish stories like this is where it should be wrong, the first amendment shouldnât protect news agencies from publishing false claims as the effect on public perception could be disastrous to the republic as we have seen this past year. It should be treated as yelling fire in a movie theater
It is absolutely amazing how deluded and ignorant the people over at r/politics can be.
This same video was posted there, and rather than be concerned about a CNN producer laughing at the idea of âethicsâ in their reporting, they instead claim that Okeefe only makes fake news. They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence, that couldnât possibly be taken out of context, and merely attack the source. (not to mention that their favorite video against Trump, the Billy Bush grab-em-by-the-pussy video, is exactly the same type of video.)
Its the easiest way of dismissing evidence out of had without actually having to look at it.
Exactly why reddit is terrible, you can hide posts you donât like and popular opinions go to the top.
I mean itâs good for sports and stuff, but terrible for anything opinion-formed.
They are burying their heads so far in the sand
Oh, theyâre burying their heads all right, just not in sand.
Why all of the jump cuts? Veritas just opens themselves to all of this criticism. Show us the unedited video from beginning to end if itâs so damning. I will never trust a veritas video thatâs not one unedited stream of content. Theyâve burned bridges too many times before this to demand any less.
Have you ever watched a single investagative report in your life? All are jump cut because because there can be hours of filler between points. Do you really want to waste your time watching them order hot wings and excusing themselves for a shit?
They could make 2 versions availableâŚ
Tell you what. Iâll take 5 minute clips. Not 15-20 seconds. That make you happy?
OâKeefe released hours of raw footage for the Planned Parenthood release; and the useful idiots still ignored them. Essentially reddit was full of leftist saying âWell I read Salon; and they watched the full video and they said the clips were deceptively edited. So clearly they were doctored.â
Hopefully OâKeefe releases the raw video

PP does actually sell fetal organs though⌠totaling on avg. $2-3k for all the organs sold in 1 fetus. This is not some conspiracy theory either. There are published receipts and invoices from organ/tissue repository companies ordering these fetal organs directly from PP to then sell to biotech or academic centers.
Shipping tissues is expensive, they arenât dumping a fetusâs liver into a leftover Amazon Prime box and sending it on 1-week USPS. It involves very expensive refrigeration packages, fast shipping, and so on.
Itâs so morally despicable that theyâre giving the tissues to science. We should be cremating and burying the 5-gram clump of cells instead.
So because there were âjump cutsâ AKA getting to the point because people donât have time to watch hours long videos, the entire video is fake?
Shouldnât stop them from releasing the unedited video on the side, just to verify
They did the same thing with the planned parenthood stuff but people still dismissed it because of âdishonest editingâ even though the full version showed the same. People just want to ignore whatever goes against their narrative.
Pretty sure all people do this.
The unedited video is likely 100s of hours long and wouldnât be able to be uploaded as anything other than a .torrent efficiently.
No, but it certainly raises questions about the veracity of the reporting. Isnât that what people are demanding these days? If something looks sketchy, call it out. Or is that only trotted out when the news goes against oneâs own narrative?
the jump cuts are because this is a secretly taped conversation only loosely connected to the topic it is being presented as connected to. You have to remove context in order to present this in a way that gets the message out that the messenger wanted.
They admitted to clickbait and weâre saying it means conclusively thereâs nothing real with Russia. Itâs understandable since thatâs a giant leap.
The same applies to Fox News as well. 24 hour cable news stations are all in it for the ratings and appealing to their base.
Two-sides of the same coin.
Cognitive dissonance
They said the same thing about the abortion videos that they were actually a setup, or maybe factually, a couple of scenes were taken out of context. Even if they were, that doesnât dismiss the entirety of the content
You mean like how planned parenthood sells baby parts and the DNC was literally ripping up ballots? Sure seems legit.
Wait, are you actually denying that PP sells fetal organs to tissue repository companies? Bc there are actual invoices and receipts showing that these companies purchase fetal organs from PP to then resell to biotech and academic centers. The Congressional report is pretty black and white.
For profit? Yes. Which is what the video was trying to prove.
It wasnât attempting to prove. It was showings there was probable cause for a criminal investigation. At worse they violated U.S. law, at best they were unethical ass clowns talking callously about a very sensitive subject. Either way it showed a deeply troubling culture at the heart of Planned Parenthood; and the left couldnât allow that to be viewed by many.
You mean like how the representive from the medical research firm flat out said they were buying body parts? Is that what youâre talking about? Did you watch the unedited film that showed the exact same thing or are you falling for the âdeceptive editâ bs.
How about the several investigations afterwards that found no such thing is happening, and a grand jury actually indicting the people who made the video? https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/26/us/2-abortion-foes-behind-planned-parenthood-videos-are-indicted.html
Charges were dropped. Update your links.
indicting the people who made the video?
The charges on them keep getting dropped and chamged
Those indictments have all been thrown out. The state AG has been shown to collude with PP to bring those charges
Liberal judges, obviously, government conspiracy to get in on that sweet sweet fetal organ market.
Based on this sub, I have to assume you arenât being sarcastic, in which case Iâm sorry you actually think that way.
I am. People taking Project Veritas as a serious source while condemning CNN is hilarious â CNNâs pretty shit, but not literally-charged-with-a-crime unethical.
Thank God for the sarcasm. And of course, the subs this is exploding on are r/conservative, r/uncensorednews, and r/conspiracy (Would assume T_D but have them filtered out. Iâm fine seeing the occasional post from these subs to know their take, but that floods the feed a bit much).

Ad Hominem attacks are the only way liberals know how to discuss things.
They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence
Exactly why the Dems will permanently push undecided voters to the right and continue to lose elections.
The media is not the enemy of the American people!

r/politics moderators are removing these videos.
Here is r/politics labeling this as an âUnacceptable Sourceâ.
Here is a working mirror to the video.
R/politics cant stand the truth
Theyâre awfully militant.
Reddit moderators on r/politics and r/news are typical leftists. They try to control free speech. They give an insight into what this country would be like if the left ever got control.
I take it this wonât be on r/news
Very fake news.
This is Wikileaks style, and itâs only part one
Someone make more popcorn
Well I just finished a bowl, but I can make some more if youâd like. Pop Secret Extra Butter, sprinkled with garlic salt and black/cayenne pepper ok with you?
Drowned in liberal tears I hope?
Where do you think the garlic salt comes from? Sometimes thereâs even a hint of patchouli (from the hippies).
Trump is considering escalating our presence in Syria. The Senate is considering huge changes to health care. The Supreme Court just issued a bunch of interesting opinions, including one where Justice Kagan broke with the liberal justices to support a church.
CNN: lol, letâs just continue reporting the witch hunt.
This actually made me laugh. So many other legit angles they couldâve gone with vs Trump but nope. RUSSIA.
I think the REAL scandal here for the left is that a CNN producer was filmed enjoying some Chick-fil-A.
Iâm not a conservative, but Iâm glad this is coming out. When the media tries to whip people into a frenzy against each other, everyone loses.
Edit: Video source has a history of manipulation for conservative agenda, add grain of salt, remain skeptical of media corporations. Based on post history, /u/MiyegomboBayartsogt may be Russian propaganda shill.
Not everyone loses. Trump wins. Americans willing to work win. The people whipped into hysterical frenzy are losing it, but those indolent bed pressing citizens arenât doing anything productive anyhow. Getting those types out in the street to pout and protest is probably the first exercise any of them have had in a long while.
You think hard-working people arenât negatively impacted by shitty media?
So long as deep pockets and corrupt politicians can use the media with impunity to manipulate the electorate, the country is fucked. Sure, you and I might have jobs, but Iâd rather strive for the quality of life under a less-corrupt regime than what exists today. Politicians actively use the media to divide the population, which distracts from actually governing the country and solving the problems millions of people have. Itâs all about winning, not governing, which means American democracy is just a fucking shamâŚat least third-world dictators are honest about what they want.
in a normal just world, this would be in /r/all by now. Sadly, those that manages the algorithm is going to keep this from going to /r/all to reduce the red pilling as much as possible.
Two instances of it are right now, including this one. You probably wonât like the top comments on the one much higher up, though.
Wow I forgot about project Veritas. Itâs oddly relieving to see them doing their thing without the stresses of the election season. It feels like I can sit back and relax and watch the dumpster fire that is the left.
Between the Russia narrative finally cracking, the democrats starting to eat each other, the Supreme Court ruling and now this, I am chuckling to myself at how right trump was. I really canât handle this much winning in such a short amount of time. I need time to digest this much positive news. Canât imagine how die hard liberals must feel.
Trump gambled absolutely everything â all his credibility, his political capital, his entire presidency â in a show down with the media.
Conservatives have been too chicken shit to do this for years, despite the fact we all know the media is mostly leftist propaganda. Trump came along and said, âYeah, Iâll prove it,â and itâs working. Itâs bloody well working. I am shocked how well he has flipped what looked like a hopeless narrative.
The media has lost its credibility. The deep state has been exposed to the disinfecting sun light. The Democrats have been so focused on chasing laser pointers like cats that they havenât taken a moment to reflect on why they lost.
The Clintons are getting exposed as the snakes they are, and the whole Obama administration is taking a hit retroactively.
This is incredible. And we still might get another 2 Supremes.
tl;dr: Trump decided not to be the classic, well-trained house pet for the left. Is kicking ass. Who woulda thought?
Except the left still wonât see it that way. Still work to be done
The core of the left will never see it that way. We can only hope that a solid majority of the people will see how deluded the left is.
At least 25% of the population is irredeemable, itâs just a fact
deplorables?
No, just delusional leftists who would riot before accepting the rule of law.
Because you asked⌠I feel very little. There wasnât anything in the video I didnât already sort of know. Itâs painfully obvious CNN has been hyping the hell out of this story with little to no new useful information. BUT, It doesnât indicate at all however, that the Russia story is fake, just that CNN, like ALL cable news, is about selling a narrative their audience wants to hear, because ratings are king. Iâd prefer CNN devote their time to reporting on the Nepotism, Cronyism, and incompetence of this administration, and shut the hell up about Russia until there is something to report.
CNN devote their time to reporting on the Nepotism, Cronyism, and incompetence of this administration
So stop the hysteria of a made up narrative to pick it up on a different made up narrative? Come on..
Appointing your untrained son in law to bring peace to the Middle East doesnât smell a little like nepotism to you? You think there is no one more qualified in foreign diplomacy to tackle this task?
He should respond soon. Probably had to look up what nepotism means and is now digging through breitbart articles for an argument to regurgitate.
I feel like a lot of the things he said can be applied not only to CNN but Fox News and all cable news. Just with different agenda.
And BOOM! Just like that, CNN credibility destroyed.
To be fair, they didnt have any to begin with.
[removed]
Did you not hear âmostly bullshitâ and âdo it just for ratingsâ? This is called lying when you print false stories. The lies that were printed out a few days ago by CNN got 3 people fired.
CNN is a partisan hack of an organization that acts like itâs the Pravda arm of the DNC.
This concern trolling would not be happening if say, Fox News were caught in this kind of scheming.
Can you quote where the reporter said the leaks are bullshit?
The dude said the Trump â> Russia headlines are bullshit, not that the Trumpâs Team â> Russia headline are bullshit. He also justified Russia trying to swing our election, which isnât exactly a denial of them doing it.
Without fake news and unfounded conspiracies, Rachel Maddow will be selling oranges on the highway
This is going to be spun as out-of-context quotes that are intentionally edited to sound as a bad as possible and there really isnât any scandal here.
The man just straight up laughed at the notion of journalistic ethics. It looks pretty bad.
He was taken out of context!!! Maybe he was reading from a play script about a jaded and corrupt Fox News journalist. /s
I think you just scored a job at CNN.
Iâm just going to go by the fact Iâm seeing literally dozens of newish accounts and accounts thatâve never posted in many of the subreddits this story is being posted in trying to deflect and dispute the entire video as a sign that itâs a pretty big deal for CNN right now. Seriously, Iâve never seen this much damage control on all of Reddit. Even this thread is at 58% upvoted since it hit r/all. They are panicking trying to bury this one.
Iâve noticed for months now. They like to infect subs like r/uncensorednews and other alternative subreddits that were created to get away from the shills and astroturfing.
The #1 tactic of these people is to derail conversations and change the topic.
And yet the hardcore Reddit Lefties are still pushing the Russia story. Love it and hate it at the same time. Makes them look incredibly foolish, but in the end hurts America with their ignorance.
Number 1 Trending Video on YouTube right now and it hasnât even been a day. Of course r/politics is silent. Hereâs a comment from there.
Once again, this story is already debunked & confirmed as fake. This was a low-level associate intern who decided to spew bullshit about something he has no idea about. Heâs not even working directly on the Russia team. CNN has been absolutely stellar as of late and this retraction just cements that they are an elite organization that goes the extra mile to fact check and verify their sources. Couldnât be more pleased with the stellar work CNN has been putting out lately
Itâs amazing to think that these people believe the media has any reason to have any sort of journalistic integrity. Its a business. I remember during Bernieâs campaign there was a post at the top of r/all about how Clinton was funded by CNN. But now that CNN aligns with their agenda they trust them. Unbelievable.

1) CNN, Fox News, etc. are all stupid ratings-chasing bullshit. Anyone who doesnât see that by now isnât paying attention. Itâs been getting worse and worse throughout my life â havenât really watched any MSM in years, but Iâm guessing itâs all pretty abhorrent by now.
2) I donât really care if news outlets secretly think a story is bullshit or not â but I do care what the FBI thinks. They thought there was enough to warrant an investigation. And now the story has become more about impeding that investigation.
As soon as I saw this video I knew the thread would be brigaded
Damning quotes aside, the most interesting takeaway is how much day to day control Jeff Zucker has over the narrative.
The video was removed
Iâm a pretty leftist dude but I think we all have known CNN lost credibility during the election cycle with how they put Clinton on a pedestal.
I mean we all knew it, but this is still one of the most sickening things I have ever seen and still shocking even when you know news is all staged and money driven for agendas. The worst part for me was when he only laughs at the idea of journalistic ethicsâŚ
Wow that guyâs gonna get suicided by 4 bullets to the back of the head
Damn this is exciting
R/news is in some hard denial.
CNN isnât just fake news. They are very fake news. And apparently proud of it. I wonder how the kiddies in r/politics will try and spin this. I mean, he literally says they donât care about ethics in journalism. Itâs kinda hard to spin that.
Edit- oh. They wonât spin it. They will just ignore it apparently. Neato
Edit again- Hi shareblue! Thanks for stopping by to downvote us.
While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see. Do I think some of the things that are reported, and some of Trumpâs own actions and statements seem a little sketchy? Sure. But ultimately, thatâs why there is currently some sort of investigation going on. I donât need to hear about it every day because at this point there really isnât too much more to report, and to be honest it just takes away from actually debating the policies that are being put out, especially health care currently. If something comes up in the future from this investigation or otherwise, sure letâs bring it up again and discuss it, but unless/until something like that occurs I would rather see more talk about policies.
While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see.
This is the statement that should have the Democrats scared shitless.
Itâs also why theyâve been trying to pivot away from the Russian witch hunt but theyâre having trouble getting their people to stop. The base is convinced Trump is a traitor and wonât let up.
because they convinced them, what a vicious web we weaveâŚ.
All of our intelligence says that Russia interfered and Trump says he fired Comey to slow/stop the Russia investigation, itâs not exactly all CNNs fault.
The country should be scared shitless, not just dems.
He fired comey because comey wouldnt hold a presser saying trump wasnt under investigation. Which is true and what comey told him on three diffrent occasions.
Was it dumb? Sure.
Was it interference with the russia investigation? Not even a little bit.
Share exact sentiment.
The worst part to me is how much a lot of the media alienates people, and how much I feel that extends into the everyday political discussion. You see it on all sides. I see it all the time when people call people on the left âlibtardsâ or âsnowflakesâ and people on the left respond calling people on the right âNazisâ and âbigotsâ and âracistsâ and all it does it take away from substantive conversation and instead ignore any possible points that the other side may have because they are from the other side so letâs just call them names instead of actually refute arguments or points they have made.
you are a great, great great person
Concern trolls out in full force tonight.
What really blows me away is how divided along political lines so many people are. If you are 100 percent Democrat or 100 percent Republican on issues as far as the party line goes, you are also 100 percent moron. Every issue deserves discussion. There is nuance in politics which is why most congressmen go to law school.
If anything, this should be a wakeup call to everyone about their favorite news channels.
BREAKING NEWS::::: theyâre all this way. They need money to make money. Fox, CNN, Breitbart, Inforwars, all of it is for-profit. They create sensationalized headlines that their viewers care about for some reason, and thatâs how you keep eyes on the tube. Itâs all despicable, but not surprising.
This is huge. Canât wait to hear the official ShareBlue narrative on this one.
No mention of this on /r/politics. Head, meet sand.
I CANâT HANDLE ALL THIS WINNING!!
