A “rivalry” between Kylie and Kendall Jenner has not “exploded,” contrary to a claim from a website that frequently pits the Kardashian-Jenner sisters against each other. Gossip Cop can bust this latest untrue feud narrative. There is substantial proof the Jenner siblings remain close and support one another.

But according to RadarOnline, Kylie and Kendall have “taken their sibling rivalry to a whole new level.” How so? The site claims “the two mean girls can’t even get through the day without dissing each other.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “They fight over friendships, boyfriends, their dad and who’s more successful.” Kendall is said to be envious of Kylie’s career, with the untraceable source contending, “She doesn’t like that her little sis is so rich off of makeup and gets more attention.”

It’s further alleged “the tension between the two only heated up after Kendall was spotted on a double date” with Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson. For the record, this double date with Ben Simmons took place more than a month ago. Now weeks later, the blog wants readers to believe Kendall and Kylie are at odds as a result of the outing, because they supposedly don’t agree on forgiving Thompson for cheating on Kardashian.

And “when it comes to their own love lives, Kylie throws her strong relationship with Travis Scott, and their baby girl Stormi, right in Kendall’s face,” maintains the outlet. Claims the alleged tipster, “Kylie loves to show Kendall how popular she is and what a great boyfriend and life she has.” Meanwhile, Kendall “just wants Kylie to leave her alone,” asserts the site, which concludes with its unnamed “source” declaring, “If they weren’t sisters, they probably wouldn’t even be friends.”

That last comment is likely cribbed from a statement Kylie made about their relationship during filming of “Life of Kylie” last year. “Kendall and I, I don’t think we’d be friends if we weren’t sisters,” the younger Jenner confessed. But having differences in personality doesn’t mean there is a “rivalry” between them. And there are a number of clear falsehoods in this tale.

For example, the questionable “insider” claims, “Kendall gets mad when Kylie tries to steal her friends from her,” but in May, Kendall revealed the opposite is true, admitting she “stole” Hailey Baldwin from Kylie. And as opposed to being driven apart by Kylie’s personal life, it seems their relationship has only become stronger, with Kendall telling People only days ago about the bond she shares with Stormi. “I don’t know if it’s that Kylie is my little sister,” she shared, “but I was hanging out with her the other day at lunch, and we were just sitting, and [Stormi] was just so comfortable with me, and it made me so happy.”

Kendall also said about Kylie in her April cover story for Vogue, “To see my best friend growing up have a baby? It’s already made us even closer.” The affection goes both ways. Exactly two weeks ago, Kylie posted on Instagram new photos she took with Kendall, writing in the caption, “love u sister @kendalljenner.” Gossip Cop also pointed out these snapshots earlier this month, when the website’s sister publication, OK!, tried to get readers to believe Kendall and Kylie were no longer close. That storyline was provably false, just like this new one. There was also clear evidence to disprove RadarOnline’s recent tale about Kim Kardashian supposedly being jealous of Kylie’s Forbes cover.

Conclusion: RadarOnline and other gossip publications often peddle feud stories about the Kardashian-Jenners, but such storylines are usually provably wrong. In this case, the site maintains a “rivalry” between the Jenner sisters has “exploded,” but recent comments from Kendall and Kylie themselves show they are still closely connected and on good terms. This primary sourcing from the siblings is far more valuable and trustworthy than the single anonymous “insider” used by the blog. For these reasons, Gossip Cop is rating this story a zero on our fact-or-fiction meter.

Three Thieves Steal Aquarium Shark in World's Dumbest Heist

In a trully bizarre heist that may very well be the premise for the next Pain & Gain-style dark comedy, three absolute buffoons allegedly stole a shark from an aquarium.

Amazingly, they bundled up the shark in a stroller and disguised it as a baby.

We want to go ahead and reassure you that the shark was found safe and alive. But the twists and turns in this story are almost as unbelievable as the crime itself.

On Saturday, a shark was snatched from the San Antonio Aquarium in Texas.

As the aquarium shared on its Facebook page: “one of our employees reported seeing suspicious activity from a group of three people near one of our interactive shark touch tanks.”

As you can see in the video, the suspicious activity was that the three alleged thieves caught a small shark with a net and stole her.

“Our General Manager, Jen Spellman, caught up with the suspects in the parking lot,” the post reveals. “And was denied access to searching the vehicle and the stroller.”

We can only imagine how that went down.

“Our 16-inch long Horn Shark was stolen from our tide pool exhibit while the attendant was assisting other guests,” the aquarium reveals.

They continue, writing: “Surveillance video shows the suspects staking out the pool for over an hour for their opportunity.”

“Surveillance footage also indicates that the suspects brought in a net to capture our shark,” the page mentions.

“After grabbing our shark and placing her into a wet towel, they entered into one of our back rooms where they took a bucket that was half-full of bleach cleaning solution (used for disinfecting our tools),” the page explains. “And dumped it all into our cold water exhibit filtration system.”

In case you are worried about some absolute monsters dumping a bleach cleaning solution into the aquarium’s filtration system, it was caught and the bleach was neutralized.

“This caused harm to multiple tanks, all of the tanks on that system, it is all connected. Including our seahorses, baby seahorses, jellies, and more.”

According to the aquarium, had staff taken even a minute longer to notice that something was wrong, countless sea life from the aquarium would have perished.

“They then,” the post reveals. “Took the sanitation bucket to aide in the transportation of the shark into the stroller, quickly exited up the stairs and out into the parking lot.”

But the aquarium was already on their case, even though they were refused permission to search the trio’s belongings.

“We worked closely with Leon Valley and San Antonio Police Departments to recover our shark and apprehend the suspects,” the page explains.

And there is good news!

“They located our shark, brought our Assistant Husbandry Director, Jamie Shank, there to identify Miss Helen and bring her back with us.”

“Ammon Covino the owner of the San Antonio Aquarium wants to publicly show his appreciation to them for all the hard work they did in locating our shark,” the post reads. “And allowing us to bring Miss Helen the Horn Shark back home.”

Miss Helen might technically be considered evidence, but she’s also a sharknapping victim.

“We value the lives of all of our animals and take pride in the care that we can give them,” the page says. “As well as the education that we can provide for the general public about these treasured species.”

Here is Miss Helen, safe and sound.

“We are astonished but so grateful that she survived this catastrophic event,” the aquarium writes.

“This guy knew what he was doing,” they write begrudgingly. “Or she wouldn’t have survived.”

A 38-year-old man who has not yet been identified has been arrested for taking the shark.

Police believe that he was seeking to replace a previous horn shark, who had died. Police found an aquarium at his home.

Investigators intend to arrest and charge the remaining two suspects when they are located.

This is a bizarre case. Despite some upsetting twists (though thankfully, Miss Helen is okay), it’s an entertaining story.

We can’t wait for the inevitable movie. We’re just surprised that, unlike Pain & Gain, this story won’t take place in Florida.

Celebrity gossip can be fun. Whether it is about the name of Kim and Kanye’s latest child (Chicago West), Ben Affleck’s odd body art decisions (back tattoo of a phoenix), or Tom Brady’s dietary choices (no coffee), following the foibles of the famous can be an enjoyable distraction.

But when celebrities spread harmful pseudoscience, it’s more frustrating than fun. My reaction to the news that model Elle Macpherson is dating Andrew Wakefield, the disgraced “anti-vaxx” conspiracy theorist, fell squarely in the category of eye rolling angst.

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are not “seriously considering” reuniting for a romantic comedy, despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the stories. We’ve learned the movie project in question doesn’t actually exist, nor have they been in touch about a such a project.

According to The Sun, Aniston and Pitt “could be set for a sensational reunion on the set of a new romcom,” and are contemplating “starring together in a film for the first time now that they’re friends again.” The paper is picking up these contentions from Heat, in which an alleged source is quoted as saying, “As well as being back in touch as friends, suddenly an opportunity has cropped up that would put Brad and Jen in a major movie together for the first time.”

The exes are said to be “seriously considering it,” though it’s claimed they would not be portraying a couple on-screen. “It’s not like they would be playing lovers or anything, but the project is in the romantic comedy genre and their characters would cross paths,” contends the tabloid’s untraceable tipster, who further asserts, “The movie producers are really excited and feel this would be dynamite casting.” Tellingly, it’s not said just who these “movie producers” are, what is the plot of the proposed film, and who else would star in the feature.

Despite these red flags, The Sun saw fit to regurgitate the allegations without any fact-checking. Had the outlet done some investigating, it would’ve discovered that this is an unoriginal rumor that has never had any merit to it. In March of 2017, for example, HollywoodLife made-up a tall tale about Aniston possibly working with Pitt. At the time, the actress’ spokesperson told Gossip Cop point-blank, “There are no projects that Jennifer is considering with Brad.” Earlier this year, we observed that a full year had passed since that bogus claim was peddled, and Aniston and Pitt still hadn’t teamed up for a movie.

In April of last year, In Touch manufactured a whole cover story about Aniston and Pitt co-starring in a film together to get “revenge” on Angelina Jolie. In that narrative, it was alleged Aniston would be joining her ex-husband in Ad Astra. His rep, however, told Gossip Cop the report was “complete and total nonsense on every possible level in every possible way.” This was proven to be the truth when Ruth Negga was ultimately cast opposite Pitt in the movie.

Then this past April, just a few months ago, NW brought back the storyline, claiming that not only had Pitt and Aniston reunited romantically, but that they now in the process of “bringing their love to the big screen.” They were said to be reviewing old scripts, but unsurprisingly, no specifics were offered. That’s because this story about Aniston and Pitt starring in a movie together was entirely fictional, just like the ones that came before it. Now here is Heat offering up its own version, with The Sun copying the misinformation.

In regards to the exes being “back in touch,” it was known more than a year ago that Aniston and Pitt were still in contact occasionally. But as People clarified in February, in a story about why a reunion between Pitt and Aniston would be highly unlikely, “They aren’t in regular contact.” And now Gossip Cop can confirm they have not discussed joining forces for a nonexistent project.

Asked about the former couple reuniting on-screen, a Pitt confidante tells Gossip Cop on background, “Hard to do that when you haven’t even spoken.” Aniston’s rep went even further, telling us the rumors are nothing more than “another made up story.” Heat has certainly been guilty of offering fabrications in the past, including nonsense almost exactly a month ago about Aniston meeting Pitt’s kids.

The Sun isn’t innocent, either. In April, Gossip Cop busted the newspaper for falsely contending Pitt and Jolie had settled their divorce, and that the split would be finalized “within weeks.” Of course, time has proven that was completely off-base, just as we rightly said back then. Now the passage of time will also show that Pitt and Aniston were never “seriously considering” doing a romantic comedy together, either.

A website is peddling a story about Angelina Jolie and Kate Middleton’s friendship. These alleged “details” were cobbled together from another site that copied them from a tabloid. What’s more, Gossip Cop already busted the original article.

Last week, OK! claimed Jolie and Middleton recently had a “secret meeting.” The tabloid wanted readers to believe the actress and the duchess met face to face, but the magazine never said when or where this supposed “catch-up” took place. Still, the outlet maintained the pair spoke about Jolie’s split from Brad Pitt, and alleged Middleton was encouraging her to “take Brad back.” There were a number of flaws in the tale, and a Kensington Palace staffer with whom Gossip Cop spoke actually laughed off the story. That was a marked contrast from when Jolie and Middleton actually did meet for tea in 2015. Following that time together, the palace issued a statement confirming the visit.

Now, though, this purported “secret meeting” was entirely unsubstantiated and clearly made-up. HollywoodLife quickly fell for it, though, and within hours repeated the bogus claims about Jolie “pouring her heart out” to Middleton about Pitt. The blog evidently didn’t care whether the allegations were true or not, and now the same can be said for YourTango. Nearly a week after our debunking, the site is announcing in a headline, “New Details About The Angelina Jolie Kate Middleton Friendship — And Why Her Breakup With Brad Is Bonding Them Together.”

“Apparently now Angie has found a confidant in none other than Kate Middleton,” writes the online publication, which asserts, “They began the close friendship while Jolie was filming. That’s according to a recent report by Us Weekly.” Wait, Us Weekly? As Gossip Cop detailed above, these contentions were first printed by OK!, then regurgitated online by HollywoodLife. In fact, YourTango links its “recent report by Us Weekly” phrase to HollywoodLife. What’s more, all but one of the links in the story are to HollywoodLife, which as Gossip Cop regularly points out, is not a trustworthy website.

To make matters worse, YourTango concludes by claiming, “Brad has been rumored to have a romantic connection to Margot Robbie and an MIT professor[, while] Angelina has been linked to her Maleficent 2 costar Ed Skrein and another suitor whose identity is kept a secret.” Actually, dating stories about Pitt and MIT professor Neri Oxman have been proven wrong, and Gossip Cop has already busted claims about Pitt crushing on Robbie. Additionally, we previously called out this same site for falsely claiming Skrein was Jolie’s “boyfriend.”

That was another example of YourTango taking misinformation from elsewhere. Apparently the site can’t tell fact from fiction. Fortunately, Gossip Cop will keep setting the record straight. So, for the record: Jolie and Middleton do know each other, but they don’t have a close “friendship,” nor did they get together recently to discuss Pitt or anything else. Period.

MTV Is Basically Launching a Royal Spin-off of The Real World

MTV is clearly aware of the world’s obsession with royals: Variety reports that the network is currently in the process of creating The Royal World, a Real World spin-off of sorts that will center on different “ladies, baronesses, and counts” from around the world. The lineup, per Variety, will reportedly include “descendants of aristocratic families from the U.K., Russia, Austria, Nigeria, and Ireland, as well as a ‘royally connected American.'” (Let the theories begin for who that “royally connected American” is!)

“The Royal World is a brilliantly entertaining show that invites you into a world which is utterly closed to most of us: the world of young, titled royals and aristocrats,” Katy Manley, creative director at Initial, the production company behind The Royal World, tells Variety. “Expect headline-grabbing gossip that’ll leave palaces squirming as we get to know the real people behind the titles.”

The series will air on MTV International before the end of 2018, and be available in 180 countries. “MTV has a deep-rooted history of shining a light on original characters and unique subcultures. The Royal World brings this to a whole new level,” Kerry Taylor, EVP youth and music and cohead of MTV International, tells Variety.

This isn’t the only exciting new MTV project on the docket. The channel is also planning on releasing a Vanderpump Rules–style series based on Lindsay Lohan’s new beach club in Greece (working title: Lohan Beach Club). So it’s safe to say our DVRs will have a heavy MTV rotation for the next year.

Demi Lovato remains in LA hospital after suffering 'complications' following overdose

SINGER Demi Lovato has not yet been released from hospital following a drug overdose due to “complications”.

Sources close to Lovato have told TMZ that the 25-year-old former Disney star is still at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles six days after she was admitted because she is suffering some “complications” related to the overdose, reportedly including extreme nausea and a high fever.

Lovato was rushed to hospital last Tuesday (local time) after an unknown drug overdose. Representatives for the pop singer have not provided any details on what led to the singer’s hospitalisation.

Meanwhile, her friend and backup dancer has penned an open letter after she was blamed for the singer’s reported overdose.

Dani Vitale, who confirmed she was not with Lovato at the time of the incident, urged fans to stop the “negativity” towards her friends.

“I care about Demi just like all of you do. I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance,” Vitale posted in a statement on Instagram on Sunday. “Like all of you, I have nothing but love in my heart for her. There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time. There is too much of it in this world as it is.”

Last Thursday, officials released redacted audio of a 911 call that led to Lovato’s hospitalisation. However, the four-and-a-half-minute call did not include any more details of what led paramedics to transport her to a Los Angeles hospital.

At one point, the caller requested paramedics not use their sirens while responding to the house.

Though Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have kept their dynamic fairly casual, the tabloids have spent years trying to turn their relationship into something serious. This is often done by giving the pair a baby that doesn’t exist. Check out five of the most recent rumors about Holmes and Foxx having a child together below.

Life & Style issued a “bump alert” for the stars on one of its December covers. Not only was there no baby bump, though, but the picture it showcased of Holmes and Foxx wasn’t even authentic. It was two separate images of Holmes and Foxx individually that were photoshopped to give readers the false impression that they posed for a snapshot together. And what proof did the tabloid have that there was baby on the way? None, actually. The magazine merely referenced Holmes supporting Foxx at a Prive event, and quoted a so-called “witness” as saying, “They avoided being seen together and left separately.” That had nothing to do with having a baby together, and a rep for Holmes confirmed to Gossip Cop that she’s wasn’t pregnant.

In March, NW announced in a headline, “Katie’s Expecting A Sister For Suri: ‘Yes, I’m Pregnant!’” That quote, of course, was a complete fabrication. That was evident when as opposed to presenting legitimate evidence or confirmation, the outlet cited an untraceable “insider,” who merely offered, “There’s a lot of talk from Katie’s inner circle that she and Jamie are having a baby.” Furthering presenting conjecture instead of proof, this supposed source maintained, “I’ve heard she’s just hit the three-month-mark, which would put her due date around August.” Well, not only did Gossip Cop bust this story at the time, but it’s abundantly clear the actress is not about to give birth next month. See, for example, a video Holmes posted on Instagram earlier this month of herself water skiing. That is certainly not an activity a woman would be doing while eight months pregnant.

The following month, sites such as PopCulture speculated Holmes was pregnant after she and Foxx separately left a restaurant together. Pointing to paparazzi pictures of the “Dawson’s Creek” star and subsequent comments from fans, the blog suggested Holmes “appeared to have the early signs of a baby bump, and that she was attempting to hide it with her purple and white robe.” Of course, she wasn’t wearing a “robe,” but a kimono-like coat that at times gave the illusion of a bigger mid-section. But, as Gossip Cop pointed out, there were also photos of Holmes with the jacket open, exposing a perfectly flat stomach area. Had the website done some more research, it would’ve realized Holmes wasn’t hiding anything at all.

In May, Woman’s Day wanted readers to believe Holmes was telling friends she was expecting Foxx’s baby. On top of that, the publication’s alleged tipster claimed the actress had been suffering from “a few health complications that have required her to be on bed rest.” Insisted this questionable snitch, “Jamie has been amazing and has gone to every single doctor’s appointment.” But it was apparent Holmes hadn’t been on bed rest at all, as she was repeatedly photographed out and about. As for having a child, in a story around this time about Holmes and Foxx leaving dinner dates separately, People specifically reported, “Her main focus is still Suri.” Gossip Cop was assured she had no intention of changing her focus to another child who didn’t actually exist.

Most recently, Life & Style peddled yet another pregnancy tale in early July. Here the tabloid theorized that a “little Foxx” was on the way because Holmes supposedly sported a “suspicious-looking bump” during a trip to Paris. The magazine went on to reference false rumors about the pair splitting and calling off a wedding, arguing that the fact they were still together might mean “they could have a baby on the way.” By that faulty logic, every couple that stays together must be expecting. Right. Gossip Cop opted to check in with Holmes’ spokesperson, who revealed she wasn’t pregnant and chalked up the alleged “bump” to an “unflattering angle.” Naturally, the publication never explained what happened to Holmes’ supposed “bump” from December.

It should be noted that these are just a few examples from the past seven months, and a very, very small sampling from the past five years or so. The tabloids have repeatedly impregnated Holmes with Foxx’s baby, and never once has it been true. The duo have never had plans to join their lives together through a child, and still don’t. Should something change in the future, Gossip Cop will have the real news.

Priyanka Chopra’s life and her work keeps everybody on their toes. Just a couple of days back, came the big news that the Quantico actor has pulled out of the big budget Hindi film, Bharat, starring Salman Khan in the lead in ‘the Nick of time’. Amid speculation that she may be marrying beau Nick Jonas, it has now emerged that she is all set to star in her next Hollywood film, Cowboy Ninja Vikings.

According to a report in EW.com, Priyanka will be the leading lady in Cowboy Ninja Viking, an action drama from Universal Pictures. The film stars Chris Pratt as a multifaceted assassin, perhaps the title of the film being a dead giveaway.

The film’s story centres around a lethal agent, play by Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt, whose treatment by a psychotherapist leaves him with “an ability to manifest the deadliest attributes of the three titular personas”. The report added that details of the Priyanka’s role are not confirmed as of now but she will be the leading lady.

Priyanka currently has just one Hollywood project, the Liam Hemsworth starrer Isn’t It Romantic? Just last month, the cast of the film was spotted in New York, shooting a dance sequence for a scene from the said film. It may be recalled that Priyanka’s American TV series Quantico has been cancelled after three seasons. Its poor show was the reason.

However, the star keeps making news for more reasons that one. Her high-profile relationship with American singer Nick Jonas has been a fodder for gossip columns across the globe. The couple, who met at the Met Gala last year, made their relationship official when the duo were on a visit to Mumbai in June this year. The trip was supposed to be Priyanka’s way of introducing Nick to her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra. In reality, it did a lot more than that as it introduced Nick to much of India.

They made an entry together at Mukesh Ambani’s son’s Akash’s engagement, pretty much announcing to the world that they were a pair.

Only recently, Priyanka hit the headlines again when the news broke that she had exited Bharat as she has recently got engaged to Nick Jonas and wedding may happen soon. As her fans reacted in disbelief, came a confirmation from Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar that she had indeed quit the project. However, he signed off only after dropping broad hint that the reason would actually have to do with Nick. It was later reported that the actor had got engaged to Nick in London, a week before the news of her Bharat exit broke.

He wrote in his tweet, “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her … Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life.” Talking to Hindustan Times later, Ali Abbas said, “I haven’t given away anything. It’s called sense of humour. As I said in my tweet, Priyanka had made a choice, because something very special was coming into her life. With all our heart and happiness and love, we’ve only wished her happiness.”

Priyanka was in Mumbai for the last couple of days to shoot for Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink with Farhan Akhtar.

Danielle Bregoli to JoJo Siwa: Cash Me Ousside, Howbowdah?!

Every photo of JoJo Siwa contains the sort of forced exuberance that you expect to see from an adult actor on a TV show aimed at preschoolers.

In the mean time, everything about Danielle Bregoli seems to be the culmination of every parent’s nightmare. She’s an amalgam of personality problems and it’s making her rich.

It’s not a surprise that these two are feuding. It’s just a surprise that it’s taken this long.

This feud between 15-year-old girls began when a grown adult woman decided to take to social media to post a lengthy rant about why one was better than the other.

“I’ve seen people make fun of this girl many times because ‘she’s acting too young,'” writes a woman named Nicole.

“I don’t know too much about her,” the woman writes of JoJo. “But all three of my girls love her.”

She’s 15 years old and a face of Nickelodeon,” the post continues. “She also is a spokesperson for Michael’s Arts and Crafts store.”

“There are GROWN WOMEN on some of her posts who are trashing her because of the way that she acts.”

After decrying this, this grown woman then goes on to trash a different 15-year-old girl for the way that she acts.

Nicole whines about Danielle Bregoli, who “has publicly disrespected her mother, danced half-naked on the internet, dressed like she’s grown, etc.”

Many would point out that all of those activities are very age-appropriate for a high schooler.

“I would much rather have girls love JoJo,” she writes. “Than ‘Bhad Bhabie.'”

The woman then writes a line that has only ever been used by bad people: “And people wonder why the kids these days act the way they do.”

“People like JoJo are made fun of for being young while people like ‘catch me outside’ girl makes [sic] millions being a delinquent.”

In and of itself, that sounds like a woman who is trying to defend a teen girl against unwarranted trolling (while also making some mostly fair criticisms of another teen girl).

JoJo Siwa — or whoever runs her social media accounts — boosted this post, adding her own words:

“This post means so much to me,” the JoJo Siwa tweet reads.

“Thank you Nicole for writing this! I love being a positive role model,” she writes. “And I want everyone to know it’s ok to be a kid and to not worry about growing up so fast!”

The tweet concludes: “To everyone who supports me, I LOVE YOU!”

Would you care to guess who didn’t particularly care for … any of this?

Danielle Bregoli herself quoted JoJo’s tweet, adding a few choice words of her own.

“Suck my dick,” Danielle tweeted. That’s a fair and, frankly, age-appropriate response to seeing another girl your age boost a post dedicated to bashing you.

JoJo hadn’t said anything directly bad about Danielle at that point — she’d just promoted a post that did.

After Danielle’s tweet, that changed.

“Exactly my point,” JoJo writes while quoting Danielle’s tweet.

We’ve definitely been hard on Danielle in the past, because, well, she did very much become famous because of her delinquent behavior.

But she’s turned unfortunate circumstances into a success story — and she’s still a literal child. That’s impressive.

Danielle Bregoli is breaking records with her music, and was nominated for 2018 Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Female Artist earlier this year.

JoJo is also a success story, absolutely, but while it is never appropriate to harass her with comments about her appearance, we should be honest.

Danielle’s behavior — awful and occassionally criminal though it may be — is wildly more age-appropriate than JoJo’s.

JoJo’s look is clearly designed to appeal to a certain demographic — young children and their easily scandalized parents.

Danielle is appealing to people within her own age range, and it’s working. Part of that is because Danielle reads like an authentic teenager and not as a cartoonish caricature.

We’re sure that JoJo will one day be able to shed this look and live as herself. For now, she’s a minor and she’s making money by catering to kids. Whatever makes her happy.

But she should know that one can accept a compliment without agreeing with insults aimed at someone else.

Gossip Cop Celebrates 9th Anniversary, Reaffirms Commitment To Transparent Fact-Checking

Gossip Cop just celebrated its ninth anniversary. In the past, we’ve used these milestones to pat ourselves on the back about the big stories we’ve broken or busted. We’ve showcased comments from celebrities who’ve voiced their appreciation for us correcting provably untrue stories about them. And while there are plenty of examples of that which we could point to from the past 12 months, it has also been a very transformative year for us.

Since our last anniversary, we have made a number of significant changes to Gossip Cop. Last July, we redesigned the entire site. It is now cleaner, sleeker, and far easier to read. It’s a better overall user experience both on desktop and mobile.

Editorially, we made sweeping changes. Even though it pushed a lot of traffic to the site, we decided to get rid of recaps of reality, competition and primetime shows. Ultimately, while the economics of doing those types of articles were undoubtedly beneficial, we felt as a fact-checking site they were off-topic.

Also, although no one asked or suggested we do it, we embarked on a project to remove expletives in articles or overly suggestive stories. While not quite complete, hopefully in the next few months all the risqué references will be removed. While other outlets seem to have built a large audience on posts about “wardrobe malfunctions,” for instance, ideally Gossip Cop will be a site that’s safe for everyone, be it students or even senior citizens.

Just last week, we removed the comments section, which many other outlets have done as well. It simply became a hot spot for people to use offensive language, name-call, and spread untruths. Often, what was discussed in the comments were unrelated to the article above and the rhetoric was unsavory. Since we were focused on implementing other changes, the removal of the comment section fell by the wayside, and our only regret is not getting rid of it sooner.

But the biggest change we’ve made since attending the International Fact-Checking Network’s Global Fact IV conference in Madrid in July 2017 was our approach to verifying and debunking claims. At that meeting, Gossip Cop learned a number of new tools to help us fact-check. For example, in the past year we busted numerous claims using image technology we were introduced to at Global Fact IV. We also forged new friendships with others dedicated to fact-checking and have consulted with them in the past year about how to make Gossip Cop even better.

When we first started, we told readers to give us three months, and if we were wrong about a story to feel free not to return, and there would be no hard feelings. But after seeing us correctly bust claim after claim, our following and visitor loyalty grew. And anyone who has read Gossip Cop over the past nine years knows our accuracy rate is exponentially higher than other celebrity sites.

In the past, we often debunked claims by relying on our impeccable sources who weren’t able to go on the record for a variety of reasons. That worked perfectly fine for several years until we became more active in the fact-checking community and learned more and more about the importance of transparency. There’s even a group of political fact-checking sites that are signatories of what’s known as the Code of Principles. Maybe one day down the road Gossip Cop will commit to becoming a member, although it has no bearing on direct traffic and more significantly, it doesn’t technically make us any better as fact-checkers.

That said, having become friends with editors at a few political fact-checking sites that are signatories, we’ve come to realize why it’s so crucial, particularly in our niche, to have transparency. As a result, we now follow their guidelines that include, among others, a commitment to transparent sourcing and methodology. Details of this is readily available on our About Us page.

None of these changes have been overnight or done without hiccups. Among them was switching our “Real or Rumor” meter to a “Fact or Fiction” meter to more accurately represent our determinations. And in April, we first introduced a Sources section beneath each and every article. Just three months later, we are very proud of our constantly improving Sources section, which clearly documents how we collected our information.

Political sites often debunk publicly made claims by elected officials, and there are government statistics that are readily available to fact-check their assertions. But in entertainment news, the claims being checked are often not uttered before the masses, nor is there open data to verify or bust. It’s a different beast entirely.

Notwithstanding, Gossip Cop has committed to transparency and to follow those same guidelines, even though the claims we correct are made in magazines and on websites and almost invariably are predicated on one single unnamed, unidentifiable and untraceable “source.” For Gossip Cop, that means we need to work doubly hard to prove to the public that a private claim made by an anonymous “insider” is untrue. That has been our commitment over the past few months, and most especially in the last few weeks leading up to our ninth anniversary.

Not every story on Gossip Cop is a fact-check, but every article is a debunking, whether it’s a correction of a made-up claim, fake news, a flip-flop or simply an unsubstantiated report. For clarification, as noted on our About Us page, while we often correct untrue tales with a plethora of evidence and listed sources, many don’t reach the threshold of a “Fact Check” in which the average reader can read our post, look at our sources, and realize that with the same access they too could replicate our bust. For those stories, we have added a blue “Fact Check” label above the headline so it’s clear we’ve transparently fact-checked the claim in the article’s title.

Additionally, every fact-check has transparent sourcing via links in the article and citations below the post, along with other back-up materials and information, as well as a clearly marked conclusion at the end of the piece, explaining how we arrived at our determination and the rating we ascribed to it on our meter. For those stories only, we currently add on the bottom of articles the ShareTheFacts widget, which includes Schema.org’s ClaimReview markup and presents a nice visual of what the claim is we fact-checked, who made it, and what we’ve rated it. (NOTE: The widget still has the old “Real or Rumor” meter, but we’re working on having that corrected.)

Over the past year, we’ve made a few errors in articles, how we’ve marked up stories and even how we’ve dealt with others. We have corrected those mistakes and dedicated ourselves to being better all around. Since returning from this year’s International Fact-Checking Network’s Global V conference in Rome in late June, we have ramped our our fact-checking efforts.

While certain tabloids and websites have capitalized on manufacturing bogus reports, as we begin our journey toward our 10th anniversary, Gossip Cop remains steadfast in its mission of separating fact from fiction. We were darn good before, and now we’re even better, and with full transparency. Gossip Cop would like to challenge other entertainment sites to stop hiding behind unnamed and, at times, seemingly made-up sources and become transparent as well. In the meantime, we thank each and every one of you who have supported us over the years as we’ve reaffirmed and fine-tuned our commitment to fact-checking.
