Bucky’s hands didn’t wander, but he did. You wake to him snuggled in your back, playing the big spoon. His face is in your neck, and his arms are wrapped tightly around your body.
“You’ve got to be shitting me, Barnes,” you huff loudly, frustrated. He nuzzles your neck and whispers pet names you never wanted to hear leave his lips. “Let go of me. I’m not one of your one-nighters.”
Bucky mutters in his sleep before moving impossibly closer to press himself against you. “Doll,” he whispers lowly. “Hmm…so soft.”
“BARNES!”
He stiffens behind you but doesn’t move. “HUH?” Bucky clears his throat and slowly releases you. He moves to the edge of the bed, grumbling under his breath.
“That is enough! I let you sleep the alcohol off, but you had to get handsy. This is not some rom-com movie. You’re still the asshole firing me before Christmas. Now get out of my bed.”
“You’re loud and grumpy in the morning,” he snickers but hisses soon after. “My head hurts, and I’m still stuck here. The only person I call family ignores me on Christmas, and you’re not nice.”
“You’re a whiny man-child when hungover,” you bite back as you slowly sit up. “What do I have to do to get rid of you?”
Bucky looks over his shoulder, giving you puppy dog eyes. He doesn’t say a word when he slowly gets up to leave your room.
You huff. Now you feel bad—but why? He’s the villain in this story, not you. Bucky fired you, hijacked your Christmas vacation, and cuddled you. How dare he act like the victim!
“Morning, James,” your mother coos while offering coffee to your unwelcome guest. You only shake your head as they easily fall into a conversation. How Bucky enchants people around him will be forever a mystery to you. “What do you want?”
“He’s hungover,” you grumble and claim your favorite seat at the kitchen counter. “Mr. Barnes wanted to have a drink last night and fell into the bottle.”
“James, that’s no reason to be ashamed,” your mother softly says. She pats his hands and offers a warm smile. “Holidays can be hard without your family. I know how you feel.”
Sighing deeply, you try to ignore the ball of fury growing inside of you. Bucky wormed his way into your mother’s heart, and you don’t know how to tell her she won’t see him again after this Christmas.
“Munchkin, stop making that face,” your mother tuts. “I know it’s not nice if your man gets drunk, but he had a moment of weakness last night.”
“A moment of weakness. Right,” you sniff and look at the cup of tea your mother offers to you. “We all have these moments.” Before you can say something wrong, you take a sip of your tea. “Let’s hope there will be no more of these moments.”
“But you liked it, cuddle bug,” Bucky dares to step behind you to wrap his arms around you. You have to admit, he plays his role well. “I get all needy when drunk, and you love to take care of me.”
“You two,” your mother sniffles. “Oh my, you are like my Y/F/N and me when we first met. You’re too sweet to handle.”
“Mom.” You make a face. Bucky still hasn’t let go of you, and your mother is all too happy to see him with you. “What are your plans for today?”
“It’s time to unpack the gifts,” she smiles, and you can’t help but smile back. She’s so happy having you and Bucky at home. You don’t have the heart to disappoint her by revealing the truth. “But first—” she smirks, we will eat our breakfast.”
“Mom, that’s too much,” you sniffle as you look at the thoughtful gift. “I told you to not waste so much money on me.”
“I know you wanted the (the gift you wanted) for years. Because you didn’t buy it for yourself, I got it for you.”
Bucky watches you hug each other. Your mother whispers something in your ear, and you choke on unshed tears. He assumes it must have something to do with your father.
It takes a few moments before you can part. You wipe your eyes and kiss your mother’s cheek. “I love you, Mom.”
“Love you too, munchkin,” your mother sniffles and points at the gifts under the tree. “Oh, I got something for you too, James. I don’t know you well, but I hope you’ll like it.”
“Mrs. Y/L/N, you shouldn’t have—” Bucky swallows thickly when you grab a gift and push it into his arms. You glare at him, silently telling him to not hurt your mother. “That’s very kind of you.”
“You’re my munchkin’s special one,” your mother replies with a wink. “It’s my pleasure to get you a gift.”
Bucky nods as you tell him to open the gift. He rips it open, laughing as a scarf, a pair of warm socks, and hand gloves fall out of the wrapping paper.
“You’re stuck here for a while, and I thought you’d need it.” Bucky picks up his gifts. He smiles because someone he barely knows made him a thoughtful gift.
“Thank you, these are great,” his voice sounds odd when you look at him. “I got nothing for you. I-I…” He stammers and nervously looks at you. “I came here unprepared and got nothing for you.”
“Jamie, that’s alright,” Bucky gasps when your mother wraps him in a hug. He’s not used to people being kind to him. “You’re part of the family now. That’s the best gift.”
He looks at you for help, furrowing his brows as your mother pats his back.
“We are huggers in this family,” you awkwardly reply as Bucky hugs your mother back. “You should get used to it.”
“Oh, I got an idea!” Your mother suddenly says. She smirks while looking at you. “While I take care of dinner, you and Y/N can go to town. Y/N loves ice skating.”
“MOM!” You groan. “Please. I don’t think Bucky wants to go figure skating with me. It’s cold, and he’s not very…”
“I’d love to,” Bucky hastily says. “Figure skating is great.” He grins, and you swear, he looks like a handsome devil when he says, “Especially with my lovely Y/N.”
You are fuming once again. Bucky played you well, but you will pay him back. He won’t smile any longer if he landed on his ass on the ice for the first time…

Ride Of Your Life
Pairing: Biker!Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~2.1k
Warnings: douchey ex, minor angst
Summary: After an aggressive confrontation with your ex, Bucky comes to your rescue. He takes you on the ride of your life, unknowingly giving his heart to you as much as you give yours to him.
Squares Filled: vigilante (2020) for @buckybarnesbingo
Author’s Note: any and all comments are greatly appreciated <3
x
Maybe this time will be different. Maybe this time you’ll be able to have a civilized conversation with your ex. He has been holding your shit hostage and refuses to give it back until you two sit down and have a conversation about your relationship. He was a shitty boyfriend and crazily jealous which is one of the many reasons why you broke up with him, so you’re hoping that by meeting up in public, he’d be reasonable and give you your shit back.
You look around the parking lot of the park you’re in and notice a group of guys on the other side talking and laughing with each other. Bucky hasn’t seen his friends for weeks since they kept putting off hanging out. They all live in different areas of the state so they make sure to meet up once a week and play catch up.
Bucky leans on his bike and crosses his arms as his friend talks about how great his wife is. Bucky is happy for his friends and their mushy relationships but he’s sick and tired of hearing how in love they all are. Bucky hasn’t had a steady girlfriend since he got out of college and Steve moved out to be with his girlfriend, Natasha. Maybe he’s not putting in enough effort or maybe they’re not, but his relationships never seem to work out. There’s no spark and all he wants is to find that spark with someone.
“Buck, you got the cabin for this weekend?” Steve asks.
“Yeah, all ready to go.”
“I’m so excited to get away from this all and leave everything behind for the weekend. If we’re lucky, I might be able to get my hands on some weed.”
Bucky chuckles at Sam’s comment. Ever since he tried it a few months ago, it’s all he can talk about. If that’s how he wants to unwind, then by all means. Bucky never found the appeal in smoking. If he needs to unwind, he usually likes to ride around town on the back roads for hours. There’s nothing like the thrill of the bike on an empty road. He tends to go faster than he should but he always makes it home, and he prays every day that he always makes it home.
Bucky scans the park and notices a family of four playing with their dog, a mother and her two children on the swings, and a beautiful young woman standing on the sidewalk like she’s waiting for someone. He does a double take, enthralled by her beauty. He’s met a lot of women in his day but he’s never seen someone with such raw beauty before. Why is she standing there alone? Who is she waiting for? Boyfriend? Husband? If she’s waiting for a ride, where is she going? Home to someone or to no one?
“What do you think, Buck?”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever you want to do,” he mutters having heard none of what Steve said.
The woman looks at her watch and then around anxiously. So, she’s waiting for someone. Husband? Boyfriend? Ex? By the look on her face, she’s not excited to meet this person. Ex, Bucky decides. She clenches her hands into fists by her side. Something isn’t right. Suddenly, the loud roar of a black Camaro comes speeding into the parking lot and stops right next to the woman.
“About time you showed,” you complain.
“Calm down. I’m here now.” Peter, your ex, gets out and walks over to you. “Come to your senses and want me back?”
“No, I want my shit back. Seriously, when can I come over and get it?”
“Never.”
“Peter.”
“We’re not done. You’re just overreacting. When you’re done having a tantrum, call me and we can talk about you moving back in.”
“We’re not getting back together. I made myself perfectly clear when I broke up with you. We’re toxic and I refuse to lessen myself for you.”
Peter looks around with a smirk and leans against his precious Camaro that he’d never let you drive.
“Where are you gonna go? Your parents are living two states away and you have no friends. You gonna live alone? You can barely eat alone much less live by yourself.”
Heat flourishes on your cheeks as anger bubbles in your chest. He has no right to talk to you this way. You hate the fact that you don’t have friends. All of your friends are his, and guess who took his side in the breakup? You might have put up with his bullshit in the past but you’re done now. You didn’t call him out here to fight with him.
“Yeah, I don’t have friends. You made sure of it. Don’t worry about me. That‘s not your job anymore.”
“Oh, yeah? Who’s job is it now?”
You open your mouth to say, “me” but what comes out is something entirely different.
“My new boyfriend.”
Peter doesn’t like that. He stands to his full height and stalks to you with a scowl on his face.
“What did you just say?” You open and close your mouth like a fish, unable to form a response. “Who’s going to want to put up with you? I’m sorry sweetheart, but I’m just trying to help.”
“Try less,” you glare.
“Come on, let’s go home. We’ll talk there.”
“No, I‘m not going anywhere with you.”
“Get in the car, Y/N.”
At this point, Peter is screaming at you which you don’t like since there are other people around. Unfortunately for your ex, Bucky and his friends heard everything. They get on their bikes and ride over to where you and Peter are, and you look at them in shock. Bucky is the first off his bike and places himself between you and Peter. Bucky has at least seven inches on Peter but Peter has more muscles than he does. However, there are more of them than Peter and he realizes that.
“Are you okay?” Bucky asks you without taking his eyes of Peter.
“Yeah, because he was just leaving, weren't you, Peter?”
“Not without you.”
“I don’t think you heard her, man. She said you were leaving so leave,” Bucky glares.
“Screw this. When you come to your senses, call me.”
Peter angrily gets back into his car before peeling out of the parking lot so fast that he leaves behind rubber marks on the road. Bucky relaxes once he’s gone and turns to you with soft eyes.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah, that was my ex. He has my shit and won’t give it back to me. I’m this close to calling the police and forcing him to give it back. I thought we could be friendly and talk like adults. I guess not. Thanks for coming over.”
“No problem,” Bucky says and licks his lips.
That simple act shouldn’t have given you butterflies but it did. You’re not going to lie, Bucky is attractive in a way that makes your panties wet with a single look. Should you really get involved with a man you just met? Someone that attractive is dangerous but you’ve always loved a bit of thrill in your life. Still, you back up from the group and nod in appreciation.
“Thanks, again, but I have a dinner date with my brother and sister.”
“Sure.”
Bucky and his friends turn away but one look at your phone tells you that calling a ride isn’t going to be as simple as it should be. Your phone is dead which means you can’t call an Uber to take you to the restaurant. You’ve never been on the back of a motorcycle but there’s a first time for everything, right?
“Hey, wait,” you call out.
Bucky turns to you and his friends walk off to the side to give you two some privacy.
“My name is Bucky,” he chuckles.
“Bucky, I wouldn’t ask this if it wasn’t my last resort but my phone died which means I can’t call an Uber to the restaurant. Can I use your phone?”
“Yeah.” Bucky starts to pull his phone from his pocket but pauses. “Or…”
“Or what?”
“I have a second helmet. I can take you where you need to go. Save your money.”
“Seriously? We just met.”
“Your point being?”
You look around and debate whether or not to trust the guy enough to get on the back of his bike. He did just save you from Peter which earns a certain level of appreciation from you.
“Okay, yeah, I could use a ride.”
“Boys, I’ll see you later,” Bucky says to his friends. They all get on their bikes and ride out of the parking lot, leaving you two alone. “Have you ever ridden a bike before?”
“No.”
“Okay, first things first, when I turn, lean with me. It might feel like you’ll fall off but it’s best to do it that way. Secondly, there aren’t any handlebars so you’ll have to wrap your arms around my waist.” You could have sworn you saw the hint of a smirk on his face. “Lastly, tell me if you’re ever uncomfortable. There are mics in the helmets so we can communicate.”
“Lean, squeeze, talk. Got it,” you nod.
Bucky takes the second helmet and slides it over your head. He makes sure it’s on comfortably before tipping your head back and strapping you in securely. He takes his own helmet and slides it on over his head while keeping the visor open.
“Okay, before we get on, you realize that you’re trusting me with your life, right?”
“Yes.”
“That doesn’t bother you?”
“No.”
“Okay. Let’s ride.” Bucky gets on first and looks at you. “Grab onto my shoulders and swing your leg over.” You do as you’re told and ignore how defined his muscles feel even under his leather jacket. “You ready?”
“As ready as you.”
Both of you put your visors down before Bucky peels out of the parking lot. He loves driving fast but precious cargo is on board and he doesn’t dare scare you on your first ride. You wrap your arms tightly around his waist, again, ignoring how defined his muscles are. A feeling of complete bliss washes over you as you let the wind hit your skin. This is so much different than you thought it was going to be. It feels so much freer like you can do anything you want to do.
The drive is short since the restaurant isn’t that far away, and you’re sad that the ride is over. Twenty minutes with Bucky has been so much better than the two years you wasted with Peter. When Bucky parks, he’s the first one off so he can help you off it. You grab his hand and swing your leg off the bike. Again, butterflies erupt in your stomach at the simple gesture. You take off your helmet and hand it back to Bucky who takes his own off.
“Thank you for the ride.”
“No problem.”
“God, I’ve never felt like that in my entire life. I never knew riding a bike could feel so… freeing. Like I can do anything right now. I feel alive.”
“Yeah, that feeling never goes away,” Bucky chuckles and leans against his bike.
“I hate to part ways but they’re waiting for me inside. Thank you again.”
Before you can take one step, you’re being pulled into Bucky. He slides his hands into your hair and presses his lips to you. Your brain short-circuits as you try to process what is happening but damn, he has such soft lips. He slips you the tongue which causes you to immediately pull away from him. You didn’t do that because you didn’t like it, only because you’re overwhelmed.
“What was that for?”
“Your ex is in the parking lot watching.” You turn your head to look for Peter but Bucky grabs your chin and keeps your gaze on him. “No, no, eyes on me.”
His eyes are so blue that it’s making your head dizzy. Peter’s Camaro starts and he drives away angrily. When Bucky knows Peter is gone, he leans in and kisses you again, this time more slow and sensual.
“That was because I’ve wanted to kiss you since the moment I saw you.”
“You think you’re charming, don’t you?” you chuckle and step back from him.
“I’d like to think so.”
“Yeah, well, you are.” He laughs and you melt for his smile. “I gotta go in.”
“This is the part where I ask you for your name and number.”
You stop by the front door and turn to him with a sly smile.
“My name is Y/N.”
“And your number?”
“You found me once, you can find me again.”
With that, you go inside and take Bucky’s heart with you.

For weeks Peter had been talking about puppies. He was reading books about them, drawing pictures of them, and he even had dreams about them. Each day, he brought it up to Steve and Bucky, hoping they’d agree.
One afternoon, Peter rushed into the living room to find Steve, a hopeful expression spread across his face. “Papa, can we get a puppy? Please?”
Sighing, Steve looked up from his book. “You know it’s a big responsibility, Buddy. We have to make sure we’re ready.”
Peter’s face fell, but he was not standing down. “I promise I’ll take care of him! I’ll feed him and walk him, and everything!”
Just then, you and Bucky came home, stepping into the house with your arms full of shopping bags. Your eyes twinkled with excitement as you beamed.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Steve asked, raising an eyebrow as he stood, taking the bags from you.
A secretive smile tugged at both your and Bucky’s lips. “We’ve got a surprise,” Bucky said, glancing down at you. “Why don’t we show them?”
You nodded eagerly, running to the little box Bucky had placed by the door. Carefully pulling out a small, fluffy, white kitten. Its tiny meows filled the room as you held her to show everyone.
“Look, Papa! She’s a kitten!” you exclaimed, face glowing with joy.
“A kitten?” Peter’s eyes widened in surprise before his face fell once more. “But I wanted a puppy…”
Steve had been skeptical about a pet, however he was now struggling to keep a straight face. The kitten was adorable, and it was undeniable that his resolve weakened. “Well, I suppose a kitten is nice too,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady and nonchalant.
Bucky brushed his hand through Peter’s hair. “We thought a kitten might be a bit easier to manage, at least for now, Buddy.”
Peter’s initial disappointment faded as he watched the kitten playfully bat your fingers, causing you to giggle. “Can I have a hold?” he asked, cautiously stepping closer.
You nodded, carefully handing the kitten to Peter. “Daddy said we gotta be gentle,” your voice full of all the seriousness that you could muster.
Holding the kitten close, a smile spread across Peter’s face. “So soft,” he said, looking up at Bucky. “What’s her name?”
Steve was now fully charmed by the tiny creature, he crouched down beside Peter. “How about Whiskers?” he suggested as he reached out to pet the kitten’s head.
Bucky shook his head with a laugh. “That’s a bit cliche, don’t you think, Steve?”
You had been quietly watching until you suddenly piped up. “Daddy likes Alpine!” you said, clapping your hands together.
Peter looked down at the kitten, debating each name. “Alpine?” he mumbled before looking at you, he grinned when he saw the light in your eyes. “Welcome to the family, Alpine!”
As the evening went on, Alpine quickly made herself at home. She explored every nook and cranny of the house. You and Peter took turns playing with, laughter filling the house.
Steve and Bucky watched you all from the count, contentment settling over them. “You know, a kitten was a great idea,” Steve admitted, leaning into Bucky’s side.
Smiling, Bucky wrapped an arm around Steve, pulling him closer. “I thought so, but, you know he’s not going to give up on the puppy.” Peter overheard their conversation causing his eyes to flash with a spark of mischief. He most definitely was not giving up on a puppy.

Happy Birthday, Baby!
CG!Stucky x Gender Neutral Little!Reader x Little!Peter
Word Count: 800
A/N: I've received a few requests for Daddies with a little reader who has a tough time on their birthday, and what better day to write this than my best friend's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY @shiny-purple-pizza-eater!!!! ilysm!!! 💕🎂🎁
You weren’t even fully awake yet, but you were filled with a sense of safety and love. Steve had joined you in your bed, playing with your hair as you slowly adjusted to consciousness, making the transition from sleep to waking much easier than if you’d been alone. You both knew what day it was, and how hard that was for you.
“Happy birthday, angel,” Steve whispered as your eyes began to flutter open.
You scrunched your face up at this, even though you knew he meant well.
“Don’t want it, daddy,” you whined, voice laden with sleep.
“I know baby, but I promise it's gonna be a good day. We can do as much or as little as you want.” He ran his thumbs over your cheeks lightly, his eyes full of love and sincerity.
“Just wanna stay here,” you mumbled, burying yourself further into the covers and into Steve. He wrapped his strong arms around you.
“That’s okay, we can stay here as long as you need to.”
You stayed like that for a while, Steve’s hands rubbing up and down your back as you just breathed, taking in the moment as much as you both could. The serenity was only interrupted when a sweet smell made its way to your nose. Steve noticed you furrowing your eyebrows as you sniffed the air like a puppy dog. “You smell that, angel? I think Baba and Petie are making breakfast! Do you wanna go help them?” He asked.
“Just wanna watch,” you replied.
“Of course we can watch, babydoll. You’re so good at speaking up for yourself.”
Steve got out of the bed first and scooped you up in his arms, your blanket still wrapped around you. You rested your cheek on your daddy’s shoulder as he carried you down the hallway and into the large kitchen of your family’s home. There, Peter was sitting on the counter stirring a big bowl with a wooden spoon while Bucky poured some batter into a pan. Peter looked up at you first, and his face lit up. Steve could tell he was about to shout with excitement, and held a finger to his lips. Peter got the memo, understanding of how tired you must be just waking up, so he toned down his energy as much as he could.
“Happy birthday, bubba!!” He giggled, putting down the bowl to wave at you and catching Bucky’s attention. He turned away from the stove for just a few moments, his face lighting up at you.
“Good morning, doll, happy birthday!” He said before turning back to the cooking pancake.
You waved back at them both with a soft smile, still not energized, but your mood was already a bit brighter. Steve walked you over to Bucky, sharing a kiss with his husband before repositioning you on his hip so you could see the pan on the stove. The circle of batter started to bubble, and Bucky flipped it over perfectly. The smell of chocolate chips melting into the pancakes made your stomach grumble.
“Can I put you in your high chair so I can cut up some banana for you?” Steve whispered into your ear, to which you nodded.
“No strings, pwease,” you requested.
“Of course, babydoll.” Steve carried you to your high chair, still visible to the kitchen, and strapped you in nice and snug. He turned back to grab some fruit for you, but first he saw Peter looking up with his arms outstretched.
“Oh yeah? You wanna keep the birthday kiddo some company?” He asked. “We gotta ask first, okay” Steve helped Peter down from the counter and held his hand over to the dining room where you sat. “Hey angel, do you need some alone time or do you want your big brother to entertain you while you wait for breakfast?”
“Petie pwease!”
With Peter by your side at the dining table, it felt like no time at all before your daddies joined you with a heaping plate of warm chocolate chip pancakes and freshly cut fruit. Just before sitting down, Bucky put his hand up in the air as if remembering something. “Hang on, hang on. Now someone very special has a very special day today, so I think we should celebrate by having a very special breakfast today.” He announced, turning back to the kitchen and retrieving a big cam of whipped cream from the refrigerator. “Tada!”
Bucky used the can to draw a heart on your stack of pancakes, and a smiley face on Peter's. The delicious breakfast and time spent with your favorite people brightened up your morning significantly, and you started to think about fun things you might want to do with them that day. Your birthday hadn’t always been a day you looked forward to, but each year you were reminded just how loved and appreciated you were by the people around you.

Chicken
John Egan X Farmer! Reader
Summary: When Meatball kills the farmer's chicken. Bucky flies to the rescue.
Warning: Animal death/ swearing/ mention of boobs/ use of Y/n/ mention of blood.
Word count: 1.2k
A/n: I'm alive y'all! And my brain functioned again!
When John Egan came to Thorpe Abbotts, he was aware of the people that already lived there. He knew they were here, but he didn’t know them personally. When he saw her riding her horse, he knew he had to introduce himself. But he didn’t have the courage to go talk to her, she looked so intimidating, riding her horse and handling the goats.
Y/n lived on her family’s farm, but her family was away, they were in Austria, the farm was their summer house, but they wanted Y/n to keep it clean and work there. Usually, she would’ve been back in Austria, but with the war, it wasn’t safe to travel. Her chores were simple, making sure the goats didn’t run away, getting the eggs from the chicken coop and keeping the stables clean. It was easy, especially since she got her horse, Fred. He was a mustang, a beast that she had trouble training, but she kept persevering and was able to ride him. She was riding Fred everywhere; she loved her horse.
‘’Cleven! Good morning’’ she greeted the blonde. They quickly became friends when he came on the base, he went to introduce himself to the people living on the base, already saying he was sorry for the future disturbance that the soldiers were going to cause. When Gale saw Y/n, he thought she was amazing and they talked for hours, quickly becoming friends. They would trade stuff together, for example, if Y/n wanted a bottle of whiskey, she would give Gale a dozen eggs. ‘’Morning Y/n! How are you?’’ he asked. ‘’Good, just counting the chickens’’ she stopped when she heard a dog barking. ‘’Why do you have a dog here?’’ she asked, stepping in front of the chickens. ‘’Brady got him, I’ll make sure he doesn’t come near the coop’’ he reassured her. ‘’He better, because if he eats any of my chickens…’’ she threatened. Meatball came running towards Buck. ‘’He’s cute, but I meant what I said’’ she looked at the dog, smiling. ‘’I’ll make sure of it’’ he smiled.
John Egan heard a horse neigh; he knew that Y/n was close. And he was right, her (Y/h/c) hair were flying in the wind, she had a cowboy hat on her head. A white tank top that made her boobs look 5 times bigger and jeans that made her legs look amazing. She was beautiful. ‘’Y/n, what’s wrong?’’ Gale asked. She got down her horse, patting him before looking at the boys. ‘’I can’t come here and say hello?’’ she smiled as she looked at Bucky. ‘’Technically, you’re on a private property’’ Murph said. She scoffed. ‘’Technically, you guys invaded our property’’ she replied. ‘’Touché’’ Murph laughed. ‘’Nice ride’’ John Egan said, looking at the horse. ‘’Thanks, that’s Fred.’’ She replied. ‘’Um, do you guys have a minute to spare? We need help moving the hay’’ she asked. ‘’Sure, we can help’’ Bucky quickly replied.
‘’Be careful with that Jeep, don’t run over my animals’’ she smiled at Bucky, before she climbed up her horse. ‘’Wanna race?’’ Bucky proposed. She gave him a challenging smile, Fred was a fast horse, he was originally supposed to be a racehorse, but Y/n bought him at the town auction. ‘’Sure, but don’t cry if you lose’’ she smiled. When Fred started to run, Bucky knew he’d already lost, he didn’t want to go too fast, in case of a loose animal. She looked like a goddess, riding that horse. He thought about her riding him for a second, but his thoughts quickly faded when he heard Meatball bark, his mouth was all bloody and he had feathers on him.
‘’Calm down! It’s only 3 chickens!’’ Gale Cleven tried to calm her down, but she was ready to skin the dog alive, Bucky was holding her so she wouldn’t kill the dog. ‘’IT’S LESS EGGS! LET ME GO! I’m going to kill that dog’’ she tried to get away, but Bucky’s grip was too hard on her waist. Meatball didn’t have any regret; he was looking around like his life wasn’t on the line. John Brady, the owner, arrived at the scene in a Jeep, with Harry Crosby and Rosie Rosenthal. The 3 bodies were lying on the ground, headless. Y/n took deep breaths and calmed down a little. ‘’What’s going on?’’ Brady asked. ‘’You’re the owner?’’ she asked, angrily. Brady nodded. ‘’Your stupid dog ate 3 of my chickens!’’ she spat, showing the corpse with her hand. Brady swallowed a nervous laugh. ‘’I told you to watch him and I’m leaving the farm for an hour, I come back, and Dave, Danny and Darrel are dead!’’ she said, looking at her chickens. Bucky had to refrain a laugh at the names of the deceased animals. ‘’I’m sorry miss, I don’t know what else to say’’ Brady explained, scratching the back of his head. She took a deep breath, realizing how crazy she looked. She touched Bucky’s hand, to show him that he could let go. She replaced her hair as she sighed. ‘’I’m sorry, I kinda overreacted. You guys can go, I’ll, uh, clean up. Sorry for the disturbance.’’ She said, with an embarrassed tone.
He felt bad for her, sure it was only 3 chickens, but still. So, that night, he decided to find the courage and go talk to her for more than four words. He rode his Jeep to her house; he nervously taped the wheel with his thumb as he shut the engine down. Seeing lights outside, Y/n got out of the house, standing on her porch, seeing it was a soldier, she wiped her hands on her pants before going down the short stairs. ‘’Major Egan, to what do I owe this visit?’’ she asked, trying to hide her joy. She found him attractive, he was a gentleman during the day and a manwhore during the night, or at least that was his reputation. ‘’Hello, please call me Bucky, and I’m here to pay you back’’ he smiled. She tilted her head. ‘’Pay me back? You owe me money?’’ she questioned. He shook his head, chuckling. ‘’No, it’s for the deceased chickens’’ he explained.
Y/n fought the urge to smirk. ‘’You want to pay me for the chickens I lost?’’ she asked. ‘’Yeah, I mean you said it yourself, it’s less eggs’’ he blurted out. Now she couldn’t fight it anymore, a smile creeped on her face as she looked at the flustered Bucky. ‘’Come inside’’ she invited. He nodded as they waled inside the small home. The smell of burnt candle filling his nose as he looked around the kitchen. ‘’Does Brady know you’re doing this?’’ she asked as they sat in the kitchen. ‘’No, it’s my idea’’ he looked on the ground, not daring to look at her in the eyes. ‘’That’s very sweet, Bucky, but I can’t accept this, you must have family that this money belongs too, what about Mrs. Egan. It’s very thoughtful but keep it’’ she politely said. He started to laugh at the mention of a Mrs. Egan. ‘’There’s no Mrs. Egan, never set that part right, and my family doesn’t need the money. Please, Y/n, take it’’ this time, their eyes were locked into each other.
‘’You know, I didn’t think you would be the one offering me money. I thought Cleven would do it’’ she said, taking a sip of her homemade alcohol. It’s been an hour since Bucky came into her home they’ve been talking ever since. ‘’He felt bad, but he has to keep it for the phones, his girlfriend wants to hear from him twice a week’’ he chucked. She smiled as she looked at him. ‘’It’s getting late, I should get back to the base’’ he said as he looked at his watch. She got an idea. ‘’Are you free for dinner tomorrow?’’ she blurted out. He looked at her, smiling. ‘’Uh, yes, why?’’ he asked. ‘’Because I enjoy your company. And I have some extra money to buy good meat.’’ She smiled. ‘’Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow, then.’’ He leaned to kiss the top of her hand. ‘’Good night, Y/n’’ he said. ‘’Good night, Bucky, see you tomorrow’’

Saw a post somewhere in the Masters of the Air tags that said Bucky Egan is Lewis Nixon if Lewis Nixon gave into his impulses, and I need to respectfully disagree.
Bucky Egan is--to use some broad terms--young, dumb, and full of come. He's not stupid. He's just 25-ish with strict ideas about what it means to be an American (he enlisted when the war broke out, not after Pearl Harbor; which is some truly Wisconsin shit), and he wants to be the coolest, hippest cat in the room (his vernacular is based on loving media about mobsters and trying to emulate them). He drinks and fucks and parties because those are things that the characters in his favorite books do. And those are things he WANTS to do. Because he's 25 and can work the Clark Gable 'stache. In episode 4, when he sits vulnerably naked in front of that big picture window in his hotel room, having bedded a woman with a dark past (again, see his love of mobster stories; she's a femme fatale in his mind), he is shattered at watching the bombs drop on London. He'd known it was happening. But to see it. It's seeing the truth of it. Understanding that he, as a pilot, knows the level of destruction being attempted, and being able to accurately guess how well it went.
There's a moment where Paulina asks why he's all the way out in Hammersmith. It's clearly not central London. When he watches the bombs, they're not close by. But then he's walking down the street in his pilot's uniform in a generally intact suburb. But someone did get hit. One person DID get hit. And she cries and screams for someone whom she can't decide is alive or dead.
That's Bucky's own thoughts about Curt. That's Bucky's own thoughts about the men who flew the day before. That's Bucky's own thoughts about every man in every fort that went down. They're alive. No, they're dead. No, they're alive. No, they're dead.
What we're seeing by the end of episode 4, is Bucky faced with the unrelenting truth of death in war in a way he hid from himself in so many ways for so long. Partly by fucking and drinking and partying.
The difference between Bucky Egan and Lewis Nixon is that Lewis Nixon went into the war believing everything was shit. And he drank his way through the war because everything was shit. And he made a truly heroic attempt to blow up his friendship with Dick because everything was shit.
Lewis Nixon, if being allowed to give into his impulses, would have drank himself to death during the war. I believe that completely. Fuck, we know he had a hard time for several years after.
Bucky Egan, until he sees the bombing in London for himself after one of his closest friends has disappeared in battle (Curt) and another close friend (Buck) goes up without him, he doesn't let the war touch him. He doesn't let the WORLD touch him.
Bucky Egan drinks and fucks and parties because he LIKES IT. And he wants to keep it up because if he can keep it up, things can't be that bad.
But they are that bad.
Meanwhile, Buck Cleven is NOT Dick Winters. He doesn't drink. He doesn't gamble. He doesn't fuck. Sure. But Dick Winters didn't do those things because he was raised in a family where those things were held up as signs of moral fortitude and self-discipline. Buck Cleven doesn't do them because his abusive father did them all and into severe excess.
But Dick Winters would NEVER slow dance with a big dog to make his best friend laugh, and Buck Cleven would. Neither Dick Winters nor Buck Cleven would ever back out of a fight, but Dick Winters would never shame a man for being scared while Buck Cleven did. And rightly fucking so, frankly.
What's so interesting to Bucky and Buck is that "two randos with very different views of the world became the closest of friends" ALSO happened in Band of Brothers (and, in fact, in Generation Kill between Ray and Brad [a reminder I haven't seen the Pacific), and it speaks to how friendship bonds form differently in different situations but there seems to be some proof that people with opposite experiences in life can find common ground with a common goal between them.

We the best🔥‼️ me and @clevenhq doing another one
But this time prison pen pals!!
Gale who saw an ad in the paper about writing to inmates at the local prison, giving reasons on why it helps them rehabilitate by talking to people that aren’t family, how it helps them still feel connected to the outside world. With nothing better to do Gale does down the list of names, skimming past a few until reaching John “Bucky” Egan - incarcerated for aggravated assault and Manslaughter.
It immediately peaks gales interest, so he writes out his letter, listing his name, hobbies, what he enjoyed doing day to day, and small pieces of information about himself such as his eye color and hair color. He sends it off the same day and gets one back addressed to Buck a few days later, confused at the name and thinking it was mail for someone else until he opened it up, realizing that it was his pen pal Bucky who had given him his own name as a nickname.
He tells Gale how it’s been hard not having someone to write back to, how lonely it gets in his cell when mail call comes. He’s light on the details on why he got locked up but from what Gale gathered the dude he accidentally killed deserved it. So they keep writing, week after week telling each other news, stories, bits and pieces of information, and at about the 5 month mark of them talking Bucky asks Gale to come down and visit him, putting his name down as a visitor. So Gale goes and visits.
Practically shaking the whole way there because he’s about to meet a man who killed another because he laid his hands on his little sister. Once inside and led back to the visitation room he sits down, leg bouncing anxiously since he’s never seen Bucky and buckys never seen him. Never felt comfortable sending a photo in with his letters, but his jaw is on the floor seeing this huge bear sized man come walking down, huge arms, broad shoulders, thick legs, just overall BIG, but then he looks up at his face and hes got the biggest puppy dog smile on his face before sitting down, shoulders almost touching both sides of the little box.
“Bucky?”
“Buck?”
“You know it’s Gale”
“Yea but what kind of name is Gale, so I just gave you mine since I can’t give you my last name yet”
And then it turns into Buck visiting every week, still sending letters to each other but it grows from friendship to relationship, flirting more and more, Gale slipping “special” photos in, and Bucky talks about Gale constantly to the point the other inmates know him, sneaking peaks during visiting hours. And the day finally comes and buckys let out on parole and the sex is ROUGH, on the counters, on the floor, bed, couch, patio, everywhere they can. They kiss and touch each other like it could be their last, Bucky practically manhandling the man every chance he gets, gales very happy he read the ad in the paper that day

Winter’s Kitten
Pairing| Bucky Barnes x reader (gender is not really specified)
Summary| Bucky comes home from the market with a very unexpected but adorable surprise.
Warnings| Absolutely none- Just some random cute fluff
Materlist
Today was a very cold winter day in brooklyn and you had sent bucky out to get more bread from the corner market. It started snowing when he left, which was thirty minutes ago, and it was getting really thick and windy. You were starting to get worried, what if something happened to him? You decided to give it ten minutes until you were going to call him and make sure he wasn’t in trouble. Just as you were about to go to get your phone the door to your shared apartment opened. When Bucky walked through the entry he was covered in snow from head to toe, with a grocery bag in his hand. But what you also didn’t miss to notice was the abnormal lump coming off of his abdomen. “Hey doll, sorry it took me so long, the weathers really getting bad out there.” You stood in front of him speechless did he not think you noticed the now moving lump under his coat. “Buck, what's under your coat?” One thing you always found cute about Bucky was that he couldn’t lie to you. The give away signs were that he couldn’t look you in the eyes, and he’d blush. And right now the big super soldier in front of you looked like a schoolgirl with a crush. “Well, I uh, found her outside on my way back from the market, she doesn’t have a home doll.” As he unzipped his coat a ball of white fluff appeared. “Baby, is that a cat?”,”Yeah.” As soon as Bucky spoke the cat started to move, she tried to crawl up his chest but ended up snuggling back into his arms. Now that she adjusted you could actually see the cat's features, she had big bright blue eyes and tiny little ears. You could now totally understand why he couldn’t leave her behind. She was adorable and the way she looked at you just made you want to melt. “So what do you think of her doll? Can we keep her?” You had no idea your boyfriend could look so innocent, he was giving you the biggest puppy dog eyes with a pout on his lips. How could you ever say no to him or the adorable cat. “Of course we can keep her, Buck.” You couldn’t help but chuckle at the pure excitement on his face and as if the cat knew she had just found a permanent home she jumped out of Bucky’s arms and started to inspect the cozy apartment. After Bucky took off his jacket and boots he pulled you into his arms. “Thank you doll.” Instead of answering him you pulled your head off of his chest to kiss his stubbled jaw. Bucky moved his head down to give you a proper kiss and right before your lips touched there was a loud crash in the living room. "Well I better go check what that was.", "Yeah, I think that's a good idea,Buck."
Later that night when you and Bucky were settled down in bed, he asked “What about alpine.”, “What do you mean Buck?”, “For our new addition to the family.” You loved how easily Bucky said ‘family’ . You felt honored and proud that you were able to keep that special place in his heart.Since Bucky was the one who brought the cat home you thought that he should have the honor of naming her. “I think that's perfect, baby.”
Just after Bucky went to sleep a certain fluffy white cat decided she was going to sleep right on Bucky's chest. You couldn’t help the smile that came across your face, the sight of a man, most are afraid of cuddling with a little cat, was so wholesomely adorable. You were glad that Bucky brought home your new addition to your little family.

The Bucky Barnes Babysitting Chronicles
A/N: This is inspired by my babysitting shenanigans with a toddler. (And, Bucky would totally be a girl dad)
Disclaimer: I have not written a full-length fanfic in a while, please bear with me.
It had been a quiet day in the New York apartment Y/n and Bucky shared. There were no missions for them, and it was a perfect day for them to stay home. Just the two of them and Alpine relaxing, until... A phone call from Ashley, one of Y/n's college friends, threw a wrench in their plans.
"You want us to watch Thea for half a day?" Y/n entered the living room while she was on the phone with Ashley. "We're both home today, I don't see a problem with watching Thea." Bucky leaned against her dramatically, signaling he didn't want company. "Okay, we'll pick her up from daycare later."
After hanging up, Bucky let out a very dramatic yell, "Do you have to watch Thea?" "I already promised Ashley. And Thea's not a bad kid." He let out a dramatic sigh, "It's our family day," Y/N gave him a pat on the head and got up to childproof the apartment.
Around 11am, Y/N left to take Thea back to the apartment. "I'll be back in 15 minutes." She gave him a chaste kiss before leaving. "Come on, let's enjoy some time together before Thea gets here," he carried Alpine to him, and Alpine just meowed.
Around 12 noon, giggles were heard from outside the door. "Okay, Thea. We're here!" "Yay!" Y/N opened the door, and Thea ran in, giggling. "Be careful, sweetie." She ran faster and bumped into Bucky. "Careful, little missy." He took her in his arms. The toddler immediately melted into his embrace.
"Honey, can you watch Thea for a bit while I put things away?" Bucky nodded curtly, Thea giggling and just playing with his dog tag necklace. Y/N smiled at the sight and went to put things away.
Bucky and Thea had fun together with Alpine, the white cat let Thea pet her and it made the toddler smile. "Cat!" "Yes, Thea. Alpine is a cat." Bucky replied to her with a soft smile. "Cat!" Thea said again and tried to carry Alpine. In quick reflex, he carried both Alpine and Thea onto the couch and let her have Alpine on her lap.
After 10 minutes of petting Alpine, Thea lost interest in the cat and decided to play with Bucky's arm. "Thea, my arm is not a toy." "Shiny." She did grabby motions towards him. And, reluctantly Bucky lets her play with it. A while later, Bucky's arm is covered with fridge magnets. Thea clapped at her creation, however, she started to yawn and rub her eyes. "Okay, it's nap time." He carried her into his arms and lulled her to sleep.
"Hey! I'm back. Ashely called to check up on Thea..." Bucky turned to Y/N with a sleeping Thea, he placed a finger on his lips to signal 'Be quiet'. She gave a nod and just smiled at the sight of Bucky being domestic. During dinner time, Ashley came to pick up Thea. The little toddler was not happy to be separated from Bucky. But with a few coaxing, she agreed to go home and visit again. Thea did the impossible before leaving, she gave Bucky a flying kiss and waved bye-bye. Everyone was caught off guard, after both Ashley and Thea left the apartment, Y/N teased Bucky. "You still have your 40s charm. A toddler had a crush on you." "Ha ha... Real funny." He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her.
"Then, would you mind babysitting Thea again? When we have a girl's day out?" He lets out a groan while hugging her.
The End

Connection part one
You didn’t know exactly how everything had ended up this way after the split of the avengers everything seemed to go south from there you didn’t exactly call yourself an avenger you were a hacker an exceptionally good one. But after the beef that happened between Steve and Tony everything went south you were considered a threat to the government and Tony agreed since you aided Steve’s escape. So you were contained treated worse than a dog. Not getting fed regularly interrogations that led to beating the shit out of you sometimes.
But you were able to bide your time and finally make your escape you were especially good at hiding keeping a low profile you grew up on the streets until you hacked into the wrong server and caught the attention of Tony Stark that’s was how you became one of them you wanted to go with Steve but he told you it would be better for you to stay where you would be safe, you were only a teenager at the time so you could understand where he was coming from but if he knew the sort of hell you were put though.
You sighed as you opened the door to the rundown house this was one of your safe houses no one knew about except Natasha, this was your families vacation home that was until they were killed when you were only five now it has been marked as condemned but on the inside it was still livable the condemned sign was just a cover.
You were not really sure how you made it this far on foot but you finally made it. You were badly bruised, you were barely able to stand too weak and tired you knew no one would know where to find you so you were safe for the time being how long was unknown to you just depends on how fast they find this place.
Steve,Bucky,Natasha Wanda, vision and Sam were in hiding in a crappy apartment building laying low they have been on the run for five years and still keeping a low profile, they were all just relaxing while one of them stays on lookout.
“Breaking new Y/N L/N broke out of a maximum security containment facility, she is extremely dangerous” the news woman reports
“Turn that up.” Steve says clearly shaken from the news
“I thought you said she would be safe?!” Natasha yelled it hurt her deeply leaving you behind you were like the daughter she would never have.
“I thought she was..” Steve says clearly shaken
“If you have any information about her Whereabouts call…”
“We need to find her.” Wanda says
“At least before they do.” Vision says
“Let’s not jump the gun here, let’s try to think how she is.” Steve says he was feeling guilty he left you behind to protect you, learning you were in prison all this time pained him deeply.
“Where would she go if she’s being hunted.” He asks
Natasha knew the answer but would you want to see any of them you spent five years in prison and they practically abandoned you. Five years is a long enough time to change. But they had to try.
You cursed at yourself for being so short thankfully your parents were paranoid people sure you don’t remember much about them but they were convinced the world was going to get nuked and they were prepared for it. This house works off of solar panels the water and everything even the heat and air it was amazing, you were trying to screw a new light bulb in the bathroom the light turns on.
“About time.” You mumbled you take a good look in the mirror. You looked like a ghost of your former self your face was covered in bruises and cuts dried blood, dark circles under your jade eyes, your skin was pale.
Of course this didn’t surprise you, the place you were held barely fed you let alone cared about your health,
You sighed turning on the shower, feeling the hot water hit your skin it felt so refreshing
you just hopped this is the start of a new beginning.

Unwanted: Chapter 2, Unspeakable - Pt. 4
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Avenger!Fem!Reader
Summary: When your FWB relationship with your best friend Bucky Barnes turns into something more, you couldn’t be happier. That is, however, until a new Avenger sets her sights on your super soldier and he inadvertently breaks your heart. You take on a mission you might not be prepared for to put some distance between the two of you and open yourself up to past traumas. Too bad the only one who can help you heal is the one person you can no longer trust.
Warnings: (For this part only; see Story Masterlist for general Warnings) Language, Steve Rogers (he is not my favorite, okay?), Emotional discussions, Explosions!
Word Count: 868
Previously On...: You celebrated Bucky's new arm by watching the Hobbit movie. When you mentioned that one of your friends would let him do "unspeakable things" to their body, he immediately thought of Natasha. Why did that make you feel icky inside?
A/N: I'm posting this from a coffee shop, which makes me feel very much like a "legit" writer, when, in reality, I'm just waiting for my dog to get out of the groomer, and the coffee shop is a Dunkin' lol.
Banner By: The absolutely amazing @mrsbuckybarnes1917
Taglist: (Please let me know if you’d like to be added!) @blackhawkfanatic @les-sel @marcswife21 @buckybarnessimpp
"I've been meaning to thank you," Steve said as he stood over your shoulder. It was about a week after your movie night with Bucky, and you and Steve were working a mission together in Eastern Latvia. He'd already cleared the facility of hostile agents, allowing you the time you needed to infiltrate the site's computer systems and copy all necessary files for extraction back to the US government’s counter-terrorism task force. It was something you'd done a hundred times before, and could probably do with your eyes closed.
"Thank me for what? We've done this dance plenty of times." Your eyes narrowed as you concentrated on the computer code, fingers moving almost too fast for your own eyes to follow. You had nearly done it- the breach was wide open, and the terrorists' files were all laid out before you. The hard part was over, now it was just a matter of copying them over securely.
"Not the mission," he clarified, clearing his throat. "I wanted to thank you for what you've done for Bucky, for being there for him. I... I know you don't like me and things between us haven't been the same since Berlin, but it means a lot to me, knowing that he can call you a friend."
You paused, fingers hovering over the keyboard, and stared blankly at the screen, not able to look at him in the moment. "I never disliked you, Steve," you began, slowly, choosing your words with care, "but you broke us. You had your reasons, I get that, and maybe, to you, they seemed like good ones, but you fractured our family instead of trying to find a way for all of us to work through it, together. The only reason we're even in this room right now is because, by some grace of God, Tony was able to put his ego aside and offer you an olive branch to come home. We might look whole on the outside, but the cracks are still there. And they're always going to be. They'll never fully heal.
"So, it's not that I don't like you anymore. It's that I can't trust you. Not right now. Because I don't know if you're going to break us again." Your voice cracked by the end, but you felt surprisingly lightened, as though a massive weight had been lifted from your shoulders, and you realized just how desperately you had needed Steve to know how his actions had affected, not just you, but the others, as well. None of you had wanted to be forced to take sides in the civil war between Iron Man and Captain America; it had felt like burning down your own house, but in the end they had left you no choice. You'd already had it out with Tony. He'd apologized in the only way a man like him knew how-- with a brand new Ferrari that you were too anxious to drive and an obscene raise to your salary, but you'd never spoken about it with Steve. He'd seemed too content to act as though nothing had changed, like he hadn’t upended your entire existence.
You heard him clear his throat above you and you looked up. He was looking away from you, his face impassive, save for a tic in jaw. You'd known him long enough to see he was working on holding back his emotions.
"That's fair," he said softly. "That's entirely valid, and fair. And for what it's worth, I'm sorry. I was so caught up in trying to bring back my best friend that I didn't realize I was throwing away my family." He stole a glance down at you and caught your gaze; you could see his eyes shining. "I'll do better, Pocket. I'll do better for all of us, and I’ll especially do better for you."
His words didn't heal the wounds on your heart, but they did make them hurt a little less. You flashed him a small smile of gratitude, amazed that just his acknowledgement of the pain he'd caused you could be such a soothing balm to your anger. "Thanks, Cap. I appreciate it." He smiled at your use of the nickname; you hadn't called him anything but Rogers in forever. “And, for what it's worth," you added as the computer began beeping, signaling the transfer of files was complete and your objective had been reached, "I'm grateful you brought Bucky back with you. I can't imagine not having him in my life now." You stood up and pocketed the flash drive that now contained 18 months worth of terrorist plans. "Now, what do you say we blow this fucking Popsicle stand?" You gave him a cheeky grin as you deposited a small detonator on top of the computer server.
Steve returned your smile and offered a flourished "After you" as the two of you made your way out of the facility. Once you had cleared the perimeter, he gave you the all clear, signaling you to set off the detonators. You watched together as the building imploded into a spectacular fireball. Your relationship may not have been fully cured, but it had finally begun the process of healing.

Bucky is a gentleman. He’s just perfect, and you are swooning.
Gentleman he is, Bucky held the door for you, pulled your chair, and let you choose your food first.
He barely ate his food, busy watching you feast on your dinner. “Do you like your job?” Bucky asks as you take a large sip of your water.
“It’s…” you try not to make a face. “Well, it’s a job, you know. I make money and can pay for rent, food, and knick-knacks. Oh, and plants. I like plants.” You giggle. “Sorry if I talk too much.”
“Plants,” he hums. “What plants do you like.” Bucky already knows that you love orchids, but you’ve got other plants too and he wants to buy you all the plants and flowers you love.
“I like orchids, but all plants are pretty,” you smile dreamily. “I live in the city, without trees, and green grass. I try to have as many plants as possible because I want my apartment to become a green oasis.”
“Why don’t you live outside of town if you don’t like it here?” He softly asks, making your heart flutter.
“I wish I had the money to buy a farmhouse. I’d have flower fields and harvest tomatoes and lots of strawberries. I’d run barefoot to feel the grass under my feet,” you giggle. “It’s a stupid dream, I know.”
You drop your gaze and shake your head. Hopefully, you didn’t scare Bucky off with your stupid daydreams.
“A farmhouse,” he hums and licks his lips. Bucky can’t believe you want to move out of town, just like he planned. “That’s a nice dream, doll. I always wanted a peaceful life, away from the city too.”
You feel the heat rise in your cheeks hearing the sweet pet's name roll off his tongue. Bucky smiles softly, making your heart flutter even harder.
“Do you like your job?” It’s your turn to ask questions. You’ve never been good at conversing with men and only hope you won’t ruin your chance with Bucky. “I mean…” You stumble over your words. “Did you ever dream of just dropping everything and running?”
His eyes darken for a second. It happened so fast you’re not sure you saw it right.
“We all do, don’t we,” he casually says, but his voice is a little deeper and rougher. A shudder runs through your body, and you press your legs together. “We dream of a better life and a nicer place to live.”
You touch your cheeks because they feel too hot. Bucky understands you so well. No man before him understood you, and your silly dreams.
“Do you want chickens too? Oh, maybe a dog,” you shake your head. “No, you’ve already got Alpine.”
“I like dogs too, but Alpine is…” He smiles fondly while thinking of his cat. “I couldn’t bring another pet into our family yet.”
You smile because Alpine means family to Bucky. “Aw, that’s so nice of you,” you swoon a little too hard. “Alpine must mean a lot to you.”
“Yeah. Even when I was at my lowest, Alpine was there to keep me going,” he murmurs. “Sorry, I didn’t want to ruin our date.”
“No, no!” You hastily say and grab his hand to squeeze it. “I know what you mean, Bucky. Sometimes we need someone or something to distract us from the things going on in our life.”
“You too?” He shifts in his seat. Your hand is still holding his, and it makes his heart flutter.
“I got an annoying colleague, my boss wasn’t always nice, and I got bad luck when it comes to love,” you feel safe around Bucky and are not ashamed to admit that things aren’t always easy for you. “Life is hard sometimes, you know.”
“Yeah,” he nods. “Especially with a past—” Bucky bites his tongue. You didn’t mention his past yet. Maybe you’re too kind. He doesn’t want to keep his hopes high believing you don’t know about his past and the things he did.
Bucky decides to enjoy the rest of your date and to lay a foundation for the future.
You eat together and talk about your life. Bucky makes you laugh, and your heart flutters more than once.
After dinner, he holds your hand while walking you home. He’s nervous, and unsure if you want him to kiss you goodnight. Bucky decides to kiss your cheek, lips lingering for a moment.
He wants to take things slow and win your heart over. Bucky crosses many lines while following you, but he wants to do this right.
“Alpine, look what she got you,” Bucky laughs when his cat immediately pounces on the toy you got for the white feline. “I see you like the toy mouse.”
Alpine toys with the mouse. The feline flings it across the room only to catch it and carry it toward Bucky to place it next to his foot.
“Our date was nice. So nice.” He sighs dreamily. “I knew she’s nice, and kind, and just perfect. Imagine Y/N dreams of having a farmhouse, chickens, and a peaceful life.”
“Perfect!” You do a little dance with the plushie your secret admirer gifted to you first. Pressing it to your heart you sigh. “Bucky is so sweet, and a true gentleman. Even though, I wish he kissed me goodnight.”
Bucky inhales sharply. He missed the chance to kiss you, but this can’t be helped now. He already asked you on another date and will kiss you next time he walks you home…

I remember

Therapists were no help to your situation, this much you were sure.
They tried, they really did. But there was no answer to your grief. Your family were good people and there was no doubt in you that that’s what got them killed. But you were supposed to meet the same fate as them, the only thing that went wrong was the fact that you managed to escape after watching the Winter Soldier slaughter them.
He had a moment of hesitation, one moment of pure eye contact as his hand inched for the knife that had been meant for you, and you had bolted.
And though the therapist tried to help you with the trauma, but there was no understanding. You watched your entire family get slaughtered, and then years later their killer would be renamed a fucking hero.
You were cursed with the memory of it all, scarred for life.
And the rest of the world was not.
It was your burden to bear.
-
Good girl, sad boy
Big city, wrong choices
We had one thing going on
I swear that it was something
'Cause I don't remember who I was before you
Painted all my nights
-
He spots you the day he moves in, carrying a simple duffle bag as he tries to hide in the back of the elevator. Sam had helped him move what little belongings he had earlier in the day, and tried his best to talk to him about what little things he had in the first place.
But Bucky didn’t listen, or tried not to. Truth was he was trying his best to add more to the collection, but it was hard. There was some stuff he couldn’t shake. And there was some stuff that Sam didn’t understand, the way people looked at him.
It was a 50/50 most of the time. Sometimes they smiled and were excited once they recognized him. Sometimes, like his last landlord, they freak out and get rid of him as fast as they can.
His last landlord broke his lease, as fast as he could, and Bucky struggled to find another apartment. Sam and Sarah helped him, and since the landlord was breaking the lease Bucky was able to get his rent and security deposit back. Not that it mattered since he was getting paid from the government anyways.
The elevator was beginning to fill up, an older lady with a dog on a tiny leash followed by a younger kid with his mom. He pushes himself further back into the corner, trying not to make eye contact with the mom not wanting to scare her. An older man limps in, says something flirty to the older woman before leaning against the wall. Some kid with a ragged beard wearing a colorful hoodie comes in, his eyes red and glazed, music blasting in his headphones as he nods to everyone before turning to the front. He smells of skunk as Sam would say and Bucky has to hold his breath to stop from inhaling it. His heightened senses forming a headache quickly.
But then there was you walking in.
Unlike the others he watches as your eyes mark everyone, then mark all exits and safety paths in sight before entering the elevator. He watches as you cross your arms, moving to press your floor before stopping and seeing it had already been pressed.
You must know everyone in the elevator already because when the doors start closing your head snaps to take one more look, and he watches as you spot him. He immediately casts his eyes down, keeping his hands in his pockets which makes it hard to watch your reaction. But he hears you inhale before turning back to the front.
He lifts his eyes then, only to see that you were watching him from the reflection of the doors. Clever.
There was something familiar, what was it about you that rung through his mind.
His heart speeding up as his eyes narrowed, through the distorted reflection he tries to recognize you. It’s right there, right there right there. If he could see your actual face then he can-
You whirl, eyes wide and your face flushed as if you just saw a ghost right as the doors open on the third floor. It wasn’t the right floor but within a flash you are running, sprinting from the elevator and dashing for the staircase.
He can do nothing but watch, while the others all turn to each other with odd expressions while Bucky blinks.
It’s clear then, it wasn’t Bucky that knew you. It was the Winter Soldier.
-
A color I've searched for since
But one thing after another
Lost in situations, circumstances
Miscommunications and I
Have to say
By the way
I just may like some explanations
-
It wasn’t him, it couldn’t be. It was just your imagination.
The view from the elevator was distorted, and you couldn’t actually see him but the second he narrowed those eyes, you saw him. Him that stormy night, the small step and the way his hand reached for his knife, the notch in his brow before you bolted.
You tore through the streets, hearing people yell as you bumped into them. Your breath was wasted and your body tight as you ran and ran and ran.
The only reason you stop is because a loud honking sounds out and a hand is snatching you back with a yell right before you get plowed by a red car driving faster than light.
“ARE YOU CRAZY LADY?!” Someone screeches, pulling your attention to the face yelling into yours. “You nearly got killed, stupid!”
“S-sorry.” You manage to mumble out, trying to figure out where you ran to. “Where am I?”
“Jesus christ, someone call 911!” He snaps, keeping a hand on your shoulder as people crowd around. “How many fingers am I holding up?”
You couldn’t concentrate, you could barely see. The Winter Soldier was back, and he was coming for you.
You were in trouble.
-
Can I ask you a question?
Did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room
And every single one of your friends was
Making fun of you
But 15 seconds later they were clapping too?
Then what did you do?
-
“You’re being crazy.” Someone laughs, drawing Bucky’s attention from where he sat on the couch. It had been a week since he moved in and he was still on edge with the new surroundings, every sound drew his attention. The windows were still bordered up and he made sure no one could get in.
The tv, though it was on, was kept on silent so he could keep an ear out which is what he was doing right now when he heard it.
“I’m not being crazy.” Another voice, one thrilling enough to make his heart speed up, sounds out with a clipped tone. Defensive and hurt. “You didn’t have to walk me up, okay?”
“Oh come on. Please don’t be mad at me-”
“I’m not mad. I get it. I can’t sleep on your couch forever.” The clipped angelic voice sounds out once more. “I just….. I could have sworn that…. I’m fine.”
The sound of a door swinging open follows before both of the voices head inside and he finds himself heading closer to the door in an attempt to hear them. It’s not like he has to try hard with the super hearing, their voices catching quickly.
“I just think you need to keep going to therapy. I know you said-”
“I am still going to therapy, okay? The only reason I called you is because the hospital wouldn’t let me be released without someone.” The voice snaps back. “Can you just go? I already feel embarrassed. So just go.”
The door opens quickly after that and Bucky finds himself peering out the peephole of his door as you lean against the door watching the other person storm off as you stay there. Once your friend is out of sight he watches as your eyes trace over all the doors in the hall, calculating and nervous, before they land on his door and you watch for a moment.
He doesn’t know what pulls him to do it but he opens the door, pretending to be looking as if he heard a sound.
“You hear something?” He asks, still pretending to look. He hears you inhale sharply and finally he looks up to see your eyes on his arm, tears welling up as you freeze there. “I…. um.”
What could he say? What could he say to someone he had obviously wronged but doesn’t remember it? How could he make it better?
“I’m sorry.” Good way to start. “Whatever happened I am sorry. But it’s important to know that I…. I have been cleared of-”
That snaps you out of the daze as you push back into your apartment and slam the door quickly.
Shit.
-
Did you leave her house in the middle of the night?
Did you wish you'd put up more of a fight?
When she said it was too much?
Do you wish you could still touch ...her?
It's just a question
-
A sound had woken you up from your dreams, pulling you from the deep sleep quickly and sending every bolt of fear through you. There had been a loud bang, and you pulled from the princess sheets your mom had gotten you for your birthday, the face of snow white staring back at you as you leaned across Belle’s face to look out the window.
A strike of lightning has you shrieking out, dashing from the bed in a your alien pajamas as you run across the hallway to your parents room, barging through the door to climb onto their bed and find your mother. They were normally in bed by now, but you were shocked to see that neither of them were there.
So you jumped up at another strike of lightning, crying softly before running down the hall to see if they were in the living room where your sister often watched her cartoons.
You didn’t think anything when you slipped in the red liquid by your brother's door, and you missed the red handprint swiped by the wall next to your sister's door.
When you spot your moms figure on the couch you let the sobs free as you run to her side and force yourself under her arm to cuddle her. She doesn’t hug back, and this pulls another sob as you look up to see a red slash across her neck, reaching a hand up in the dim lighting to see pull at the necklace.
Only there is no necklace and you soon realize it’s a cut across her neck, your hand coming back bloody and warm. A loud scream pulls from you as you stand up, looking around for you dad sti screaming your lungs out.
That’s when you see him, slashing across your fathers throat quickly before turning to you, his blue eyes narrowing in on you right as you move.
He takes one step forward, but then grunts as if in pain, like he was fighting himself as he stared at her. His hand reaches for the knife strapped to his thigh and like a bolt you dash out, the rain hitting you as you scream and run anywhere you can.
-
Half-moon eyes, bad surprise
Did you realize, out of time
She was on your mind
With some meathead guy
That you saw that night
But you were on something
-
“Her family used to take in strays apparently, and had a safehouse filled with kids escaping Hydra. Dad was a scientist, and knew how to get all the kids out until Hydra caught them. Sent the Winter Soldier not long after.” Sam reads out as Bucky walks with him across the pads of the gym, keeping his eyes trained for the person they were here to look for.
“Figured that much.” He sighs out, remembering the way you looked at him. “What are the chances I end up across the hall from her?”
“Not high. Fate or something.” Sam sighs, closing the phone before he spots the figure. “What are you planning on doing?”
“I can’t lose another place to live, and I doubt she can either. If she’s scared there is a reason so I have to find a way to fix it. Which would be better if I knew what I did.” Before Sam could ask anything else they are upon their target, giving him hard eyes.
“Captain Black America.” The man grunts, a smug smirk playing at his lips as he lifts more weights. “How ya doing?”
“Cut the crap.” Bucky snaps, clenching his fists. “We have some questions.”
-
It was one drink after another
Caught in politics and gender-roles
And you're not sure and I don't know
Got swept away in the gray
I just may like to have a conversation
-
You didn’t know what to do, you were stuck.
Breaking the lease would screw you over, you couldn’t hide at your friends places forever and you couldn’t stay in your apartment forever. The Winter Soldier lived across the hall from you. The man that slaughtered your family lived across from you. The only correct solution you could come to? Getting black out drunk.
Somehow you ended up in your apartment building, blinking at the elevator buttons as you lean your head against the wall in an attempt to stabilize yourself.
“Now what are you doing out so late missy? Work keep you again?” The voice of Mrs. Day sounds out, a small touch on your shoulder as she and another figure enter the elevator. You couldn’t concentrate on either of them.
“I…. wenf ou…. The bwar… bwar… ber.. I went-tt to the b-” At some point you give up, eyebrows pinching together as you point to the buttons on the elevator. You miss your button, sliding down the wall.
A hand shoots out to catch you before you hit too hard, making sure you land softly before pressing the level you needed.
“Oh dear, back in my day girls never went to the bar.”
“Screw you Mrs. Day.” You blurt quickly before you realize what you said and your hand slaps over your mouth. A deep chuckle sounds out as you shake your head. “No. I didn’t say that.”
“She didn’t.” Someone mumbles. “It was someone else.”
“It was someone else.” You agree.
The elevator dings and the old woman scurries off as you close your eyes and lean against the wall. “I’m gonna sleep here.”
“You okay?”
“I’m gonna sleep here. This is where I sleep now.” You slur out, waving your hand around with your eyes still closed as the elevator closes again and you lay back down. You actually manage to haze out a bit before a ding sounds out again and someone puts their hands under your shoulders and lifts you easily.
“I live on the 5th- go to bed.”
“Okay. I gotcha.” The voice huffs out a laugh, carrying you easily before they get to a familiar door. “You gotta key?”
“Nooooo.” You giggle, opening your eyes a little wider. “It’s unlocked.”
“No, it isn’t. You sure you don’t have a key?”
“No key. Call me if you need let in and I’ll be there, okay?” You mumble, pulling out your phone and lifting it to your ear. “I’m on my way to unlock the-”
But before you can finish your sentence a wave of nausea hits you, you lurch forward quickly and hit your forehead on the door harshly, sliding down the wall and onto the floor below.
“Okay. Okay. Take it easy.” The deep voice hums out, and you are lifted once more before they walk across the hall and unlock their own door easily.
You are wrapped with the deep scent of a calming earthen scent, with a bit of a licorice scent that makes you giggle out. “Licorishhhhh.”
“I’m gonna set you down on the couch, okay?”
“I love licorice. Just so you know.” You continue before being set down, without question you curl up on the couch in a small ball.
“There is a glass of water by you and a trash can. But the bathroom is down the hall. Okay?”
“Is it raining?”
“Yeah, just started.”
“I don’t like when it rains.” You whisper out, a blanket put over you gently before you pass out fully.
-
Can I ask you a question?
Did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room
And every single one of your friends was
Making fun of you
But 15 seconds later they were clapping too?
-
Bucky was torn between hiding out in his room until he heard you wake up and run, but the other half of him wanted to keep camped out in the main window area to make sure you were okay. From the spot you had passed out on the couch it was the perfect vantage point for any sniper, even with the newspaper he had.
So, after hours of deliberation, he ended up on the floor by the windows, facing you as he slept on the floor. The surprise came when he himself passed out, on the floor by the windows.
He slept without a single nightmare, the image of your drunken smile keeping him sated.
He only wakes up when the sound of feet padding across the floor sounds out, sitting up quickly right as he hears your body crash onto the bathroom floor before you retch into the toilet. A grimace pulling at his face as he tries to zone it out before shuffling around and standing to trudge to the kitchen.
He starts a pot of coffee, grabbing a couple eggs from the fridge and shuffling to the stove. Making as much noise as he can when you come waddling out, your head twisting around the corner with wide eyes as he turns to attempt a smile.
Your face falls slack and you turn quickly.
“Wait! Wait. Just take a second.” He rushes, holding out both his hands as you dash to grab something to hold over your head. “Please don’t throw that.”
“I’ll scream! If you’re here to kill me I’ll scream!” You rush out, stepping back, tripping over the blanket that he had thrown over you last night and nearly falling back.
“I could have killed you last night and I didn-” He stops short as he realizes that is a terrible point to make. “Okay. Hold on, wait. Just- I can make you eggs and or coffee. Or both, you don’t have to choose. You can have both. Anything you want.”
“Why am I here?!”
“You.. you were drunk and didn’t have a key okay?”
“It’s under my door mat- WHY AM I TELLING YOU THAT?!” You blanch, stepping back again. “What is this thing? It’s weird.”
“It’s an old radio….. I stole it.”
“You stole it?”
“I stole it.”
“From where?”
“The….. my exhibit at the…. It was mine so technically I didn’t steal it and just took it back. It’s fair.” He can’t fight the heat filling his body as you take a look around, mouth falling open as you finally take everything in. “My sister gave it to me for my birthday the year before…”
“My sister got me a radio once.” You mumble. “Well it was this princess cd player thing that played the soundtracks of princess movies. I wore down the mulan cd so much that my dad pretended to sit on it and break it because he couldn’t handle hearing the skip in the songs anymore.”
“Was your sister here the other day?”
“What? No.” You huff and he feels his chest loosen up a little bit when you seem to relax. “My sister is gone. My whole family is…..”
And just like that he watches your eyes harden again, your spine tensing as you glare. “So I got drunk and you brought me here.”
“Yes.”
“And you slept in the same room?”
“That’s where I always sleep. It’s… the best spot to hide from snipers and it’s in the corner so no one can sneak up on me.” He answers. “I wanted to make sure you didn’t choke on your puke too. Do you want eggs?”
-
Then what did you do?
Did you leave her house in the middle of the night?
Did you wish you put up more of a fight
When she said it was too much?
Do you wish you could still touch ...her?
It's just a question
-
If someone had told the seven year old you that you would be sitting across from the Winter Soldier on his dining room floor eating scrambled eggs and chugging straight coffee as you both played a round of 20 questions.
“I’m sorry, who drinks straight coffee? No sugar or milk or- this is bad.”
“You want to waste your question on that? You sure?” He asks, leaning to pour you more coffee.
“No! No. I…. why did you steal the radio back?”
“Because it was the last thing my sister gave me. And I just found out she died in a nursing home…. alone .” He shrugs, scratching at his forehead. “And…. it’s mine. They are displaying my stuff in a museum.”
“Must feel a little weird.” You nod. “They are actually displaying a gun you used in the smithsonian, the JFK shooting.”
“That’s not me. Well it is but….”
“Can I ask…. about…… “ You want to ask, so desperately, but you don’t want to piss him off. Not to mention that you hated when people asked you about your past.
“I don’t really want to…. “ He mumbles. “But I think that you must have questions and I do owe you answers.”
“Do you remember everything?”
“No. Not at all. Which might sound cowardly when I say I’m thankful for that. They kept me in their trance.” He answers, moving to give you more eggs before you shake your head. “I…uhm - well when I moved in and you recognized me I searched you up. The person who… for lack of better term the person who used me for the task, well I got them arrested when I got out. He was the 4th person on my list.”
“Have….” You go to ask another question about his years as the soldier before you see the look in his eyes, the nervous energy leeching off of him. So you switch, giving him a break. “You ever been to rome?”
“No. Have you?” He asks back, a look of relief on his face.
“No. But I always wanted to. There is this exhibit at the museum wh- shit. I gotta go.” You realize, moving to snatch your purse. “Oh my god I have work. I’m sorry for leaving a mess. Thank you for….”
You stop short, realizing you are thanking the man that killed your family, blinking slowly as a wave of guilt washes over you. What would they say? They would be so disappointed in you.
“I have to go.” He doesn’t say anything as you dash out.
-
Does it feel like everything's just like second-best after that
Meteor strike?
And what's that, that I heard, that you're still with her
That's nice, I'm sure that's what's suitable
And right
But tonight..
-
The building you work in looked more like a morgue in Bucky’s humble opinion, but he tried to get that image out of his head as he walked through the front door.
He didn’t know why he was here, but for some reason he was drawn to you, and he just wanted to be near you. The game of questions you had played this morning had been…. Fun. He learned a lot about you. He now knows your favorite color, dream vacation destination spot, your weird dreams about the titanic.
“Good morning, do you have your badge?” The front desk asks, smiling at him.
“Oh… uh no. Sorry. I don’t work here.” He blushes, coming up to the desk. “My friend does.”
That was a blatant lie, he was sure you would not consider him a friend but he was gonna give it a shot. But a moment of fear passes through him that she might recognize the lie.
“No problem. Can I see you I.D. and the name of the person you’re here to see?” She hums out and he nods, pulling out his I.D. and muttering your name.
“Oh! You are here for her! She is the best. The only one that wishes me good morning and actually shows me her badge.” The girl gushes, moving to the phone and dialing an extension. “Hey this is Maya from the front desk. You have a visitor here… yes…. James Barnes?”
Her eyes widen for a second and she turns back to Bucky. “She doesn’t recognize the name-”
“Try Bucky Barnes.”
“Okay, Bucky Barnes.” She smiles through the phone and then nods before hanging up. “She will be down in one moment.”
“Great. Thanks.” He attempts an easy smile even though his stomach is in waves, trying to even out his jacket as he waits for you to come down. His chest clenched in a panic as he tries to calm himself down, taking a deep breath and keeping his metal hand in his pocket so the receptionist doesn’t see it from where she is still staring at him from her desk.
“How long have you worked here?” He asks after a moment, trying to release some of the awkward tension in the room.
“Three years. I was a temp for the first couple months but now I am full time.” She explains, fixing her hair nervously. “So are you two dating? Because, not to be weird or anything, you two would be so cute.”
“Oh, no we just live in the same-”
“And she is just so nice. And you seem nice too so-” Before she can keep going in you appear from the elevators with wide eyes, your badge swinging from side to side as you march towards him.
“Hi Maya.” You mumble out at the last second, shooting her a quick smile which makes the girl beam. Before she can say her reply you are turning back to him with those same wide eyes and snatching his elbow to lead him outside.
“Are you crazy? Do you know how many pr people are in this building and will send a bunch of paps after you.” You snap, blinking up at him as he tries to come up with a decent reason as to why he is here.
“I… okay well I figured you would need to leave for lunch so I came to get lunch with you.”
“If you forget about the fact that it involved a little bit of stalking then that would be nice.” You huff, shaking your head from side to side before shrugging. “I get to pick.”
“You know the area best.”
“I get to ask questions.”
“Sure. “ He answers, though he begins to get nervous, his mouth going dry. If you kept looking at him with those eyes he would answer anything, no matter what.
“Awesome, starting with the big questions.” You smile, leading him down the sidewalk as he clears his throat to try and remain cool. “How long does it take you to clean the arm?”
Relief washes through him as he follows your lead down the street, smiling a bit.
-
Can I ask you a question?
Did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room
And every single one of your friends was
Making fun of you
But fifteen seconds later they were clapping too?
-
You had no clue what you were doing, guilt and shame coated your every move as you walked with Bucky through the market, watching a mix of people turn to glare or smile at him.
It was weird, weeks ago you would have been one to glare, hell you had glared at him through your tv hundreds of times. And here you were, walking beside him like you were the closest friends in the world as he searched for plums.
Your days were spent questioning each other, all light stuff when the sun was out. If you were born in any other century what would it be? Do you think you’re more of a sunshine or moonlight person?
Then when the sun goes down the questions turn deep. You learned about his memories as the Winter Soldier, you came clean about that night in your memories.
You were betraying your family, by falling for this man you were betraying your family. It was the one thing that had been bothering you for the past 3 weeks.
Like right now, when the biggest urge you were fighting was to grab his hand and hold onto it as you both moved to avoid bumping into people, your palm sweating as he sent a quick look your way to make sure you’re okay before moving to a stall that had plums.
“Are you okay today?” He asks, feeling around for the perfect plum as you pick up the jars of honey not too far off.
“Yeah. I’m fine.” You lie, setting the jar down and moving towards him to avoid talking to the worker, your hand catching on his lower back before you snatch it back. “How many plums do you need?”
“I. Like. Plums.” He scoffs. “Would you rather be a bee or a flower?”
“Flower, 100 percent.”
“That was….. A really quick answer.” He smiles, paying the stall worker before, leading you both away. “I would want to be a bee.”
“You would be a bitch of a bee. You would not last a day as a bee.”
“I’m sorry?!”
“Not a day.” You laugh, throwing the bag you had been carrying around over your shoulder as he looks a little closer at you.
“You want to tell me what’s been bothering you?”
“You ever feel guilty… for like you family?” You blurt, eyes welling up. “Like you’re disappointing them?”
“Because you’re friends with me?” He asks, his voice tight.
“Are we friends?” You blurt, it’s not meant to come out that way, but it’s the first time you’ve heard him reference you both as friends. But the second his face falls you realize your mistake. “Wait, I didn’t mean it like- wait.”
“It’s fine. I’ve got it.” He snaps out, keeping his eyes away from you. “I’ll see you later.”
“Wait. No. Okay just give me a chance to explain here.” You rush out, trying to stop him from walking away. “This has been a big adjustment, weeks ago I hated you. Okay? You killed my family so I’m sorry that this was-”
Someone bumps up into him from behind, and you have to take a step back to avoid hitting him, his eyes narrow at the movement as you blink at him. His lips curl as his head tilts, and he blinks.
“I… I remember you.” He whispers, hands clenching. “You were wearing alien pajamas.”
“You remember?”
“I…” And it was a remake of that night, you both staring at each other with his eyes narrowed and you getting ready to bolt. He looked green.
And then he bolts, dashing from you so quickly you barely have time to blink.
-
Then what did you do?
Did you leave her house in the middle of the night?
Did you wish you put up more of a fight?
When she said it was too much?
Do you wish you could still touch ...her?
It's just a question
-
He couldn’t breathe, something was bursting in his chest and it was painful, so fucking painful.
He knew you, that hatred and fear in your eyes brought everything back. The night, when you were just a child and he had….. He had… He was going to pass out.
His door slammed into the wall so hard it left a dent in the plaster before he slammed it shut again and dashed to his room to snatch his duffel. He needed to go, he needed to leave. Find somewhere else to be, anywhere away from you.
He was a monster.
He hears the door swing open, your footsteps following and you come into view soon after, your eyes wide as he continues packing.
“Bucky. I’m sorry.” He breathes out, snatching a shirt before you come into view and snatching the shirt before it can hit the duffle bag. “Please, just give me a chance. Buck, I am sorry.”
“No. I’m sorry.” He grounds out, moving to grab something else. “I’m sorry.”
“Buck.” You try again, moving to grab his shoulders to stop him.
“Don’t. Please don’t.”
“Bucky, come on.” You snap, wrapping your arms around him to get him to stop. “Please don’t. Can we just talk about this. We can figure this out.”
“I…. I can’t.”
“20 questions. Let’s play 20 questions.” You rush out.
“No, let’s not. No more questions. We’re done here.”
“No we’re not.” You snap out, wrapping your legs around his like a koala so he would stop trying to run away. “Would you rather be a tie or a bra?”
“I’m sorry?” “A bear or a tiger?”
“That is terrible. A bra, and a bear.” He huffs, trying not to look at you.
“20 questions. You can’t leave now that we’ve started the game.” You mumble, staring up at him with wide eyes.
“That’s the dumbest thing I have ever hear-” He stops when you lean up to press your lips to his softly, your eyes closing as his entire body tenses for a moment before completely melting into it, his hands moving to thread through your hair.
You moan when he deepens the kiss and his heart just about stops before he tears away. “I never thought….”
“Neither did I.”
-
You play 20 questions every night, sitting together on your shared living room floor, with whatever show he wanted to catch up on playing in the background.
He plays with your hair from where your head lays on his chest, humming softly.
“Would you rather be a plum or a grape?” You whisper, fingers tracing a pattern on his pajama pants.
“Plum.” He answers quickly, tugging your ear which makes you gasp.
“I was so close to falling asleep.” You groan, slapping his hand away. “You are such a pain in my ass.”
“But you love me.”
“That I do.” You hum, moving to sit up. “Your question.”
“Would you….. Will you….” He clears his throat, sitting up straight as you give him a weird look. “Will you marry me?”

Enjoy beautiful <33
****
Warnings : fear of sea, anxiety, pet names, reassurance, kisses,
Pairings : Daddies!Stucky ; Daddy!Bucky x Papa!Steve x Little!Reader
Summary : the beautiful day was about to turn into an anxious one if your Daddies weren’t there to support and help you
A/N : I’m scared of the sea too hihi
****
You arrived.
The beach is actually right in front of you. You can see it through your window, as well as the kids running with sunscreen on their skins or adults walking with sunglasses and nice swimsuits.
But the thing that caught your eyes was the sea.
The deep and infinite water which remains calm in the background of the landscape.
You don’t have much fear in your life. When you were a kid you were scared of big dogs, one day your aunt adopted one and it happens to be your favorite animal now. At your teenage time, you were scared to talk to people, one day you had to talk in front of an assembly to defend the only person who mattered to you. Now you love talking to people when you feel listened to by others.
You’re not scared of the sea, you never had a bad experience with the deep water but maybe it’s for that exact reason that you’re not comfortable with the idea of going in it. You don’t know the sea, you don’t know what’s inside and the whole world that can live under you once you go for a swim.
You watch the family playing int the salty water, you watch kids on their animal-shaped buoy and you don’t understand how they’re just happy and nope scared or full of questions about that underworld.
‘’Sweetie ?’’ It’s the third times that your Papa is calling for you with you door wide open. You snap out of your mind and peer up at him ‘’it’s time to have fun, come on’’
He gave you his hand and help you stepping out of the car. You look around you and see your Daddy coming back from the trunk with towels and a bag. Your Papa keep a good grip on your hand as you all are walking toward the sand. The sensation feels weird against your naked soles and little toes. You’re not used to it.
Your Papa made you remove your shoes and sockets before going on the sand.
‘’Choose a good spot baby’’ your Daddy smiles as he looks down at you. You narrow your eyes because of the sun and point a spot you like once you find one.
‘’Here, remove your clothes so you can feel comfortable, I don’t want you to get too hot with the sun’’ Your Daddy says as he sit down, he opens the bag to put all the clothes in it and take out the sunscreen.
While your Papa removes his clothes, your Daddy applies the cream on your skin, he’s careful to put it everywhere so you won’t get burn. He gives you a little massage at the same time and you’re not going to tell him to stop. When he finish he wraps his arms around your torso and put your back against his chest, his chin fall on your shoulder and he kisses your cheek.
You melt into his arms, filled with all the emotions that are coming out from his body.
‘’I love you’’ he whispers in your ear. A tiny but sweet smile appears on your lips after his words. As your gaze is wondering around the blue sky, you answer him ‘’I love you too Daddy’’ in a quiet but loving voice.
During the three hours you spend there since you arrived you had the chance to build the most beautiful castle with your Papa. You tried to remove sand that were on your eyes because of the wind while your Daddy was laughing his ass off because of the face you were making.
To resume, you had a lots of fun, you didn’t even thought of the sea while you were spending time with your favorite men. That until your Daddy said he wanted to go take a swim with the fishes.
Your happy face changed into a anxious one when your Daddy put all the personal stuff in the bag, making it clear that you all were going in the sea.
They stand up and look down at you ‘’come on it’ll be fun you’ll see’’
You frown and shake your head ‘’I stay here’’ you mumble
‘’Baby, as much as we trust you we can’t let you alone here’’ Your Papa says.
‘’I don’t wanna’’
‘’Why’s that ?’’ He asks, kneeling beside you ‘’what’s wrong, princess ?’’
‘’ ‘m scared’’ You whisper
‘’Of what ? The sea ?’’ Your Daddy joins, kneeling beside you too.
You look at him and nod
‘’Oh babygirl’’ He sighs and sits beside you ‘’I know it can be scared because it’s big and it's the unknown down there so you have all the rights to be scared’’ he takes your hand in his ‘’but if you never take the first step you’ll always be scared. We don’t have to stay for hours in the water nor to go far away for a swim, we can just drop a toe but you can’t let that fear stop you from having the moment of your life’’
‘’Daddy’s right, sweetie. If you hide behind your fear you’ll never step above it to keep going in life, you can’t let that stop you’’ Your Papa adds. They both stand back up an,d give you their hands ‘’so what do you say ? We go drop a toe while watching the sunset before heading home ?’’
You look between them and the sea for a few seconds before nodding your head. They help you going on your feet and keep your hands in theirs while you walk. You stop a few feet from the water causing your Daddy to lift you up and rest you on his hip ‘’hey it’s okay, the water won’t eat you. We’re here with you little one, just as always’’
When your Daddies’s feet are in the water, your Daddy lowers himself so the tip of your toes touch the water. You gasp and retracted your foot ‘’it’s cold, isn’t it ?’’ He chuckles
You nod and smile a little
‘’Take it easy, princess. We have all the time in the world’’
You take a breath and lower you foot again. The cold doesn’t surprise you now, but the sensation of the water does. It’s not that bad in the end.
‘’hey baby look’’ your Papa points at the sky. You turn your head and see the most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen.
‘’It’s beautiful isn’t it ?’’
Yea, it is… just like the time you spend here with you Daddies.

As We Go Along (Part 2)
I know I'm gonna hear about how I ended this, but I felt it was getting a bit too long and this just let's me be able to make the next part a bit spicy. 18+ MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
A/N: very brief mention of 2 dogs being kicked, but that is it. Also, some of the tags in the taglist didn't work and I don't know why. This picture is how I pictured the dogs. No, I do not own this picture, I found it on Google.
It had been a couple of months since you came to Bucky Barnes’ home. A lot of people Bucky either worked with or for Bucky were in and out constantly. This you were used to. Your father always had a bunch of people in and out of your house as well. What was different this time though, they would acknowledge you. You weren’t sure if it was Bucky or the snacks and sweets you liked to make to keep yourself busy. Everyone was always polite with you. The only one that would act familiar with you, other than Bucky, was Steve. Steve always made sure you were taken care of if Bucky was busy. You enjoyed his company and you thought he enjoyed yours as well.
You were still getting used to not being told what to do or when to do it. Bucky wanted you to make yourself at home, so you were trying. You had never felt welcome when you lived with your family, but this felt different. You cooked and baked as you pleased. If you needed something that wasn’t in the house someone would get it for you. You hadn’t ventured out of the house yet. You wanted to get used to being in your new home before you started going places with or without Bucky.
Today you made some snacks and cookies, leaving them in the kitchen for everyone to eat. You decided to explore the library Bucky had. You opened the doors to it and felt like you were in Beauty and the Beast. You’re sure you looked like Belle the way your jaw dropped as you looked around the room. There were so many books. You wanted to read them all. You looked through all the books until a title caught your eye. You had heard about this book but never had the chance to read it. You grabbed it off the shelf and found a very cozy chair to sit in. You cracked the book open preparing to get lost in the words on the page.
~
You weren’t sure how much time had passed but a loud yell jolted you from your trance. You realized you were well over halfway finished with the book. Putting the book down, you made your way to the library doors. You could still hear yelling. Someone ran down the hall. You couldn’t help the panic that was rising in your chest. You opened the door, almost running into someone in the process.
“Shit.” You looked up to see Steve looking at you with relief plastered on his face. “There you are. I was starting to think you took off on us.”
“Of course not. I was just reading. Is everything okay? Who just ran down the hall?”
“Everything is fine, sweetheart, don’t worry. Buck is looking for you though. He’s in his office, he’s waiting on you.”
“Oh, okay.” You thanked Steve as you made your way to Bucky’s office. When you made it there the door was cracked. You could see he was reading something and pacing behind his desk. You admired him for a bit. He was almost always in a suit. The one he had on today was gray with a white button up underneath. He looked incredibly handsome, as alway. You gave a knock to make sure he knew you were there.
“What is it?” The harshness in his voice caught you off guard.
“Bucky?” His head shot up at the sound of your voice. He laid the papers back on his desk and made his way to you.
“Hey, doll. What have you been doing?”
“I found the library. I was reading. Did I interrupt? The door wasn’t closed.”
“Not at all. I just got caught up in some paperwork. Did you find anything good?”
“Yeah, the one I found is really good. I’ve always wanted to read it.” He put his hand on your lower back as he led you out of his office.
“I’m glad you found something you like, doll.”
“Steve said you were waiting for me?”
“I was. I needed to talk to you.” You tensed for a split second but Bucky was quick to reassure you. “Nothing bad, but your father has been pressing about a wedding for the last couple of days.” That surprised you.
“Really?” Your father never wants to know about anything that has to do with you. He must want to make sure you’re really out of his hair. That or he wants something.
“From what you told me about him, it surprised me, too.” You didn’t say anything. This was the first time a wedding was brought up since you had been here. The closest it had been was your first night here when the two of you were talking about why and how you ended up engaged to each other. You still hadn’t thought about the wedding, you were still getting used to being with Bucky. Sure, you knew you had to marry him, but the two of you were still getting comfortable with each other. Bucky hadn’t pressed the wedding and you hadn’t either. The two of you had been perfectly content the last few weeks.
“What did he want to know?” The two of you had made your way into the kitchen where Bucky noticed you had some snacks out again. He couldn’t help the small smile that came to his face. You had been making yourself at home and he loved it. He wasn’t sure you even realized what you had been doing. He loved that you had started doing things like this.
“He wanted a date. I told him we hadn’t decided yet, but he’s still pressing for one.”
“Probably wants to make sure I’m not his problem anymore.” Bucky gives you a sad smile. You shake your head. “Don’t give me that look, Bucky. I’m just stating a fact.”
“I still don’t like it, doll.”
“I feel like he wants something, though. I know him, it’s not just about the date for him or getting rid of me. He wants something.” Bucky sat you down on the barstool in the kitchen. Then he started to get things out of the fridge to make the two of you some lunch. You watched as he got various things out to make subs. He took off his suit jacket, rolling up the sleeves on his button up. You couldn’t get over the fact that you had someone who would do this for you. You didn’t even ask, yet here he was making you lunch.
“What do you think he wants?” You sighed. You really didn’t know, but it wasn’t like your father to want to know about anything to do with you.
“I really don’t know.”
“Whatever it is, I’ll handle it.” You could hear the finality in his voice. You believed him when he said he would handle it. In the short time that you knew Bucky, you knew he would take care of you. You had no doubt about that. You also knew he wanted you here. He made that very clear to you. It made your heart swell with affection for him. You watched as Bucky assembled the subs and sat one down in front of you while he finished his up.
“Thank you, Bucky.”
“You’re welcome, doll. So, would you want to talk about setting a date?” You mulled over his question as you took a bite of your sub. It was wonderful.
“Sure. Did you have anything in mind?”
“Not particularly. Did you? I know most women have their entire wedding planned before they even meet someone.” He laughed a little at the end.
“That’s fair. My sister does and she isn’t even dating anyone.” You laughed. The two of you sat in comfortable silence while finishing up your lunch. Once you were finished Bucky took your plate and placed them in the dishwasher. While he did that you put up everything he used to make lunch with.
“I would’ve gotten that, doll.”
“I know, but this way it’s already done. I don’t want to keep you from anything either.”
“I’m done for the day. I actually wanted to take you out.” He smirked a little at the surprise on your face. “Nothing fancy. I just wanted to spend the day with you. I’ve been pretty busy since you got here. We also need to go pick out a ring for you.” You felt your heart hammer in your chest. A ring. That made this real. You tried to calm your racing heart.
“Bucky, I don’t need a ring.”
“I want to do this, doll. I know you didn’t have a lot when you got here either. I want to take you out and you can get whatever you want. Let me do this for you.”
“I don’t need anything. I have what I need.” You tried, but you could tell by the look on his face it wasn’t going to convince him otherwise.
“That right there, doll, is exactly why you deserve to be taken care of. You’ve never asked for anything from anyone have you?” You shook your head. You asked for something one time, but you were met with laughter and then yelling. Yelling that you shouldn’t ask for anything and you had everything you needed. You never asked for anything ever again.
“Then that settles it. We’re going out and doing whatever it is you want, doll. I’ll go change and we’ll head out.”
“Okay, um, I’m gonna go change too. I’ll meet you back down here in a few minutes.” Without thinking Bucky leaned in giving you a kiss on the cheek. When he pulled back his eyes were as wide as yours. Neither of you had been expecting that. You cleared your throat. “I’m gonna get changed.” Bucky just nodded.
You walked up to your room a wide grin on your face. You couldn’t believe what had just happened. It was just a kiss on the cheek, but it made your face heat up and your toes tingle. You looked around your closet to find something to wear. You settled on your favorite jeans and a sweater. It was mid September so it wouldn’t be too hot or too cold. You paired that with your favorite pair of converse. You walked back down the stairs only to find Bucky waiting with Steve. Your heart nearly stopped. He was in slacks and a sweater. He was so handsome. You wanted to tell him.
Bucky heard you on the stairs. He turned around and he swore his heart skipped a beat. You weren’t in anything flashy or attention seeking, just jeans and a sweater. You looked beautiful and he decided to tell you so.
“You look gorgeous, doll.”
“Thank you, Bucky. You look handsome as well.” You decided to voice your earlier thoughts.
“Let’s go treat you to a day out, doll.”
~
The two of you were walking down the street. You went to a few stores, but you only got some practical things. You got some more sweaters, jeans, and a couple pairs of shoes. You did end up with a few things you had wanted like fuzzy blankets and comfy clothes. You hadn’t been to a jewelry store yet. You weren’t sure when you were going to go. Bucky wouldn’t let you carry any of your bags. He handed them off to Steve who would always go put them in the vehicle you rode.
“I can carry my own bags, Bucky.”
“Nonsense, doll.” That’s how it went in any of the stores you got anything from. Finally Bucky ushered you into a jewelry store. You hadn’t paid attention to what store it was, until you looked around. Your mouth dropped. You were in freaking Tiffany and Co.
“Bucky, what are we doing here?”
“Getting you a ring, doll.”
“But, Bucky, this is Tiffany’s.”
“And?” Your eyes widened while you looked around. You didn’t deserve to be here. This was too much.
“I don’t deserve all this, Bucky.” Bucky paused to look at you.
“Doll, you deserve so much more than what you’ve been led to believe. I want to show you, but I need you to let me.” You could see the honesty in his eyes. You never had someone who wanted to do things like this for you.
“Okay. I’m just not used to this. It’s going to take me some time.” Bucky grabbed your hand. He brought it up to his lips, giving your fingers a kiss.
“We’ve got nothing but time, doll.” You gave Bucky a soft smile. You knew this man would take care of you. Bucky led you around the store with his hand on the small of your back. You looked around. All the rings seemed so extravagant. You couldn’t really see yourself wearing any of them. Then you came to one that seems simpler than the others you had seen. Bucky caught on when you stilled.
“See one you like, doll?” You gave him a small nod and pointed to it. One of the workers came over when they noticed the two of you looking pointedly at one of the cases.
“Did something catch your eye?” The two of you looked up to the lady behind the case. She was giving the two of you a sweet smile.
“I believe we did. We’d like this one please.” She looked down to where Bucky pointed. She unlocked the case and handed it to Bucky.
“What do you think, doll? This the one,” Bucky asked as he slipped it onto your finger. You looked down at the ring, your ring. It was big and kinda flashy, but it was the simplest one you had seen and you fell in love with it. You loved it.
“It is. I love it.” Without thinking you rose on your toes giving him a kiss on the cheek. You sat back down on your feet. You weren’t sure but you could’ve sworn, Bucky’s cheeks turned pink. You slipped the ring back off, handing it to Bucky who then handed it to the associate from the store.
“We’ll take this one.”
“Wonderful! If you’ll follow me over to the register we can get everything settled and talk about a payment plan.”
“That won’t be necessary. I’ll pay it in full today.” The associate’s eyes went wide.
“Oh, of course, I didn’t mean to assume. That’s usually how it works.” She scurried over to the register waiting for the two of you to follow.
“Why don’t you head back out to the car, doll. I’ll be right there.” Bucky gave your hand a squeeze.
“Okay.” You gave him a small smile. Steve was waiting for you by the car.
“Hey, sweetheart, find anything?”
“We did. Buck-” your words were cut off by a high pitched yelp. You and Steve looked down the street to see a man kicking a poor dog. Without thinking you quickly made your way down the street towards the scene. You never took your eyes off the dog. It was a pitbull, scrawny and pitiful. You could tell it was hungry. Then you noticed he was kicking another that looked just as pitiful. You quickly grabbed the two dogs away from the man.
“What the hell are you doing?” You nearly yelled as you held on to the two dogs.
“They were digging in the trash. I don’t need any more messes to clean up.” You looked up at the hateful man.
“You can clearly tell they’re starving. They’re just trying to survive, like everyone else. You don’t know what they’ve been through. You should be ashamed of yourself for kicking poor defenseless animals.” Steve saw a fire in you he had never seen or even had an inkling you had in you. Neither you nor Steve had realized Bucky had made his way down to where you were.
“I don’t give a damn. I don’t need these mutts ruining my business. If you know what’s good for you get lost!” The man yelled.
“What’s going on here?” Bucky came up behind you. You were still crouched down holding on to the two dogs tightly. Bucky held his hand out for you. You gladly accepted and stood up. Bucky wrapped a protective arm around you. The dogs stayed right by your legs even after you stood up. The man froze when he saw Bucky and how he interacted with you.
“Nothing, Mr. Barnes. I was just telling his girl to mind her business.”
“So that is how you justify yelling at my fiance?” You had never heard Bucky’s voice so cold before. It sent chills down your spine.
“Fiance?” He looked back to you. You stared at the man with fire in your eyes. You watched as his face paled.
“Yes, now I believe you owe her an apology.”
“I’m sorry, ma’am, truly I am.” You didn’t say a thing. Anyone who hurt defenseless animals didn’t deserve kindness, not in your book. Bucky looked up and realized the restaurant was owned by a friend of his. He smirked at the man.
“I will be talking to Tony and Pepper about your despicable behavior.” Bucky released his hold on you to step closer to the man. “If I were you, I’d start looking for a new job outside of this city, because you will not be finding one in it any time soon. Understood?”
“Yes, sir.” The man scurried back in the restaurant. Seeing Bucky in control and in charge like that did something to you. You found it… sexy. You shivered a bit from the realization and the chill of the wind. Bucky turned back to you.
“What was that all about, doll?” You crouched back down to the dogs before you. They leaned into your touch.
“He was kicking these poor dogs, Bucky. Yes, they got into the trash, but they’re just trying to survive. They were getting kicked for trying to live. I couldn’t just stand there.” Your eyes never left the sweet babies in front of you. Bucky was in awe of you. He saw the way you had talked to the man before he said anything. He was falling for you and quick.
“Let’s go get them checked out.” You looked up at Bucky.
“What?” Bucky crouched down beside you.
“I told you, I’ve always wanted a dog. Let’s take these two and get them checked out, then we’ll take them home.” Without a second thought, you leaned into Bucky kissing him. It caught you both off guard. You leaned back realizing what you did. You looked at each other with wide eyes. You opened your mouth to apologize, but before you could, Bucky gently grabbed the nape of your neck bringing your face to his again. The two of you parted once you needed air. You opened your mouth again.
“Don’t you dare apologize for that. I’ve been wanting that for weeks.” You felt a blush creep across your cheeks.
“I wasn’t. I was gonna ask if we could go get some things for the dogs.” You giggled. Bucky couldn’t help the laugh that escaped him.
“Of course, doll. We’ll do that after the vet.” You picked up one dog while Bucky picked up the other. Steve was in front of the two of you opening the car door. Once you and Bucky were in with the dogs. Steve drove you all to the vet.
~
You were finally home after your eventful day. You watched as the two dogs curled up with each other in the big dog bed you got them. They were dressed in pajamas much to Bucky’s dismay. Bucky shook his head as he sat on the couch with you looking at them.
“I can’t believe you put pajamas on them. They’re supposed to be fierce animals, doll.”
“Bucky, everyone is scared of them. They’re just big babies. They deserve to have a fair shot like everyone else.” He couldn’t argue with that.
“They need names. Any ideas.”
“I had a couple.”
“Let me hear ‘em.”
“I liked Maple and Blu.”
“Maple and Blu.” It was as if the dogs knew you were talking about them. They both looked at you and started wagging their tails.
“Maple.” The tan bully started wagging her tail looking at you.
“Blu.” The gray bully started wagging his tail looking at Bucky. You laughed.
“I guess that settles it then. Maple and Blu.” He stared at the two bullies that were now named and content in their bed. He couldn’t believe the way his life had turned out over the last few weeks. He’s going to marry a kind and beautiful woman. He finally got, not one, but two dogs. He couldn’t wait to share his life with you. Which reminded him of a certain blue bag that had your ring in it.
“Wait right here, doll.” Bucky got up off the couch. He sat the bag in his office while you got the dogs settled and Steve took the rest of the bags to your room. He grabbed the bag and made his way back to you in the living room. He sat down on the coffee table in front of you. You sat up to meet him. He had this look you couldn’t quite place.
“Doll, I know we have an arrangement, but I don’t see it as an arrangement anymore. I want to share my life with you. I want to treat you to things you would never treat yourself to. I want to do things with you, explore with you. Please, know I want to marry you because I want to.” There were tears in your eyes. You had been wondering if this was still just an arrangement to him. It wasn’t to you, not anymore. You were relieved to know he felt the same way.
“You don’t know how happy I am to hear that. I’m so glad you feel the same way I do. This stopped being just an arrangement to me a while ago.” Your tears started to fall, but Bucky was quick to wipe them away.
“Oh my sweet, sweet girl. You don’t know how precious you’ve become to me over these last few weeks. I’d do anything you asked me to.” He took two boxes out of the bag. The first he opened was your ring. He slid it onto your finger with a kiss to your hand. Then he opened the second to reveal a necklace that matched your ring. “I wanted to get you something else. I thought this would suit you.”
“Thank you, Bucky. Would you put it on me?”
“Of course, doll. Turn around.” You did so. You let him adjust your hair as needed. He clipped the necklace in place. When you turned around, Bucky placed his hands on either side of your face. You gently grabbed both of his wrists. You couldn’t believe how lucky you were. Bucky brought you close and kissed you with so much passion it made you dizzy. You couldn’t help the moan that escaped you. Bucky felt himself harden at your moan.
“You can’t be making those noises, doll.”
“What are you gonna do about it?” You watched his eyes darken.
What did you just do?
