aaaand with day 15, we’ve wrapped up mtc!!! it’s samatoki-sama time!!!!! 👏samatoki-sama time!!!!!! 👏samatoki-sama time!!!!!!!👏👏👏

First impressions: oh a white haired red eyed thug who calls himself ore-sama, samatoki-sama aka mr hardcore huh? *intense hetalia flashbacks*

Current impressions: i wish you all the best samatoki-sama like man, no wonder your motto is life is not fair, it sure hasn’t treated you very well!!!!!! here’s to hoping you get to have your sister back in your life!!!!!!

you know that general fandom joke that that’s like, if you’re a white haired, red eyed person in anime they’re probably destined to die?? yeah i feel like that’s not samatoki because he’s literally passed on his fate of death onto the other important people in his life and has become the a miserable man because of it. did the writers just pull up a list of traits to make a sad man and start checking them off when they made samatoki??? at least give the dude a happy ending by the end of the series please 😫

Favorite thing:

y’know, he’s just a really cool guy?? he’s yakuza, his voice is super cool, he’s just enough of an asshole that it’s not off-putting, and he’s a family man?? high class stuff right there. oooh and i like that his fast rap has kinda become his signature rap!!

Least favorite:

okay so this is really isn’t a least favorite thing, more of a ‘....damn’ moment. but during the tdd climax where samatoki and ichiro had to face each other as a drb test run, it was really really really horrible of samatoki to have beat ichiro and continued to beat him up while he was down. i do not blame ichiro for having beef with samatoki after that. ichiro tends to rap about fake adults and samatoki is definitely one in his eyes, probably for not even attempting to work together to go against chuuoku to save his brothers and nemu, but i really do wonder if ichiro would have done anything differently???? samatoki’s fatal flaw is his dedication to his sister but ichiro is the same way. i’m kinda rambling but it’s food for thought

What i want to see from this character:

connected to the above, how the heck would samatoki even go about reconnecting with ichiro. ramuda implies that now samatoki knows he was the one who hypnotised nemu into leaving him, samatoki and ichiro can reconcile. but that was cruel and unusual punishment samatoki inflicted on ichiro. what if ichiro doesn’t accept samatoki’s apology, if he gives one? what would samatoki do???

Favorite moments:

i actually have a singular favorite samatoki moment, but i have to stay on brand and give three lmao

i like that samatoki is actually pretty sweet on rio!! in the mtc drama track in the first full album, somebody gotta do it, samatoki immediately clues in on how happy rio looks cooking with the ingredients he found and put in work to make sure he could handle whatever rio concocted lmao

and then on the flip side, during the stage play (IM SORRY) samatoki managed to convince rio to give his share of rio’s food to juto. when juto gave him a look, a look that would have felled weaker men, samatoki just looked away like 😬 samatoki is an asshole 🤣

and then my all time favourite samatoki moment is the toto tower event in arb!!!!!! so even putting my shipping preferences aside ‘cause that whole event was a samajuto mall date lmao this event had the happiest samatoki i'd ever seen!!!! samatoki was like a little kid in a candy shop that whole event, and when you think about it, he probably never got to go to this tourist trap mall, even as a kid on a school trip or with his parents, because his entire life is a wreck and he grew up without a normal childhood!! so this whole event, you got to see samatoki actually acting his age, hanging and shopping out with a friend, checking out the view from the top of the tower *sniffs* and being so impressed by it he immediately says he wants to come again and this time with rio and i’m— *sobbing* and then he kept his good vibes going after the terrorist attack ‘cause he had fun shopping and taking down a couple of fools so wanted to share his good mood and take his team out for drinks and immediately invites jakurai who happened to be on scene to hang with them because he still considers jakurai a friend and— *drowning in tears* he was so cute that whole event 😭😭

Headcanon:

mmmm this is actually an observation, or a conclusion, that i’m kinda hoping kr is going to debunk for me along the line but..... i don’t think samatoki has a home like the way he did when he was living with nemu. in the tdd manga, samatoki and nemu were living in ikebukuro. so since ichiro has ‘jurisdiction’ over ikebukuro, that means samatoki had given up the home he and nemu shared. any time we see samatoki off the streets, he’s at the hq of his yakuza group. and in the know your enemy bb vs mtc drama track and in all in the same boat, when juto is paying samatoki a visit/ordered to assist in his arrest, it’s to samatoki’s office. like. i think samatoki’s living in his office. just. just. kr. please prove me wrong

i eat drink breathe samajuto!!!!!!!! like they obviously get on each other’s last nerves but their bond runs so deep. juto has bet it all on samatoki and unwaveringly believes in samatoki’s power. and samatoki values juto’s faith and takes strength from it, like we see in all in the same boat. and again with the toto tower event in arb, we see samatoki just utterly at ease by juto’s side 😭

i also hope kr reinstates samasasa supremacy like samatoki was going to cry because he lost sarara!! he refused to fight sasara!!!! sasara fought tooth and nail against the true hypnosis mic’s effects!!!! boyfriends ripped apart by the government!!!

samatoki cares for rio too much to not love mtc poly!! samatoki and jakurai make a good pair!!!!! i’m incredibly invested in samatoki and ichiro’s relationship!!!

First impressions: ooooh, he’s really pretty...!! i wonder what he sounds like...?? *listens to drb* ............................... *goes back to listen to dba* ..................................................................................................ᴏʜ.

Current impressions:  *wearing my mtr shirt and jakurai/mtr ita bag while cuddling my jakurai plushies in broad fcking daylight and staring at the jakurai lock screen on my phone with a mtr case to pretend that i’m not that weirdo* so i may have a problem.

hi, so jakurai is my favourite character and its been a blast, bro. i first got into him because his looks and voice are to die for but then i read the lyrics to his first character song, and you see the pain jakurai is holding onto and letting it fuel his every movement and decision. (also, he makes a point to state in his song the equivalent of he will walk backwards in to hell with the final laugh. sexy.) you initially think jakurai has a god complex but in reality, he is so dependent on his friends’ happiness. if they are happy, he is happy. if they are sad, he is sad. their anger is his. because they are, therefore he is too 

Favorite thing: 

his haiiir.................... his vooooice...................... his haaands.............. his 195 cm height and the fact people accuse him of looking down on them when he literally cannot look at them any other way because he towers over everybody like seriously y’all thats just your fight instincts being activated in the presence of someone who can admittedly kill you and has the looming stature to back it up but it aint that serious..................... his leeeeeegs..............................

Least favorite:

honestly nothing whatsoever but he does tend to attract weirdos, both in canon and in the fandom. don’t get me wrong its hilarious to see jakurai’s stans incapable of processing their very intense feelings for this one man but man his fans can be pretty feral (but i understand lol)

What i want to see from this character:

*slams fist on the table* for jakurai to have lasting and fulfilling relationships!!!!!! i’m tired of everyone leaving him!!!!!!!! i’m tired of everyone being taken away from him!!!!!!!!!!!!!! let him be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol and tho i really doubt i could handle it, i’d like to see his years as an assassin. for all that i hate his suffering, he really makes it look good and i’m sure they’d make jakurai unfairly attractive murdering people for a living. one thing hypmic does well, i think, is handle death very seriously so i’m 100% ready to have my heart cut into pieces watching jakurai come to care for human life the way he does ;w;

Favorite moments:

hahaha read it and weeps kids, moments. okay so some of my top jakurai moments are:

1) jakurai as the final boss in the vrmmorpg event in arb. he was so cute enlisting ichiro’s help setting up the game and asking him tips on how to be the big bad and then struggling to maintain the role lmao

2) when jakurai got drunk in the drama track ‘testimony.’ chalk it up to his seiyuu’s talent, but the way you can hear him getting drunk by the sounds of his chugging and then the sheer energy drunk!jakurai has compared to the first time we heard him get drunk is so much fun!!

3) jakurai in the fp vs mtr manga. they didn’t have to draw him like that. but they did and i spend every waking hour thanking them for it. especially that moment when jakurai hears dohifu’s rap for the first time. they just have a fantastic style but the way they give the jakurai fans what they want makes me wonder if they’re a stan too lol

Headcanon:

i actually had this headcanon debunked by actual canon lol. see, before canon mucked this up for me, i believed that jakurai had taken in kannabi yotsutsuji because he was the one who took out his parents as an assassin. seeing yotsutsuji so heartbroken is the final push jakurai needed to quit being an assassin and take control of his life

LMAO AND THEN THE GUIDEBOOK DROPPED A FAT TURD ON THIS WITH THE CANON TIMELINE like unless there is another retcon in the works, ramuda says assassin jakurai disappeared from the world 10 years from when they met in the tdd era. that makes jakurai 22 when he stopped killing people for an occupation. jakurai was 27 when he picked up yotsutsuji lol 

fortunately, i think about jakurai all day every day and i can just tweek this lol. forget ages,  jakurai has a thing for kids, and it may come from the fact jakurai may have started assassin work as a kid, probably with because of a traumatic loss of his parents. so he takes in yotsutsuji because he’s always trying to repent, but also he wants to make things better for a kid he sees in himself :’)

it’s now day 114. the war continues to rage on but my grasp on reality and thusly my remaining sanity remains tethered to my daily musings about hypnosis microphone. though i had previously stopped making such discussions about the characters, about 96 days ago, i suddenly recalled a character that i hadn’t previously talked about. so today, let’s muse about amemura daisu

(that was a fat lie lmao. it’s day 11 and here we have gentaro!)

First impressions: his clothes are pretty outdated huh...??

Current impressions: so you say sasara is hypmic’s biggest clown. and i’m definitely not disagreeing with you!! but see, sasara is paid to be punny. what’s gentaro’s excuse for being like... that?? *gestures to when he randomly became a catboy and ran around in circles around dice*

lol actually, the answer to that is gentaro is a disaster gay, incapable of showing affection like a normal human being and tells a bunch of lies and throws on a bunch of different personas around the person he likes. he’s really funny like that but i do hope he knows he doesn’t have to all of that to be liked! but given how severe his reaction was to having his clothes made fun of, gentaro is still one hypmic’s most mysterious characters. just like with rei, we’ve been given pieces of who he is but the collective story is kinda ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Favorite thing:

how weird he is lol and ‘scenario liar’ was actually my favorite solo for the longest time!! anytime i was listening to it in my car, the bass in the song shook me up just as much as the contents of the song as well!!!! i got to feel how heavy the song was physically and emotionally!!!!! it’s a shame it’s probably all a lie lmao

Least favorite:

this is less about gentaro himself and more on kr taking their sweet time giving us answers about anything related to gentaro!!!!!!!!!!! what is plunderer and what does rei and gentaro have to do with it???? why are his clothes so important to him??????? he’s got a brother and his name isn’t actually yumeno gentaro please explain!!!!!!!!! i need answers!!!!!!!!!

What i want to see from this character is:

besides all i just complained about?? uhhh idk that was about it....... i guess his ankles??

Favorite moments:

okay so i know very view people have watched it, but the fp vs mtr stage play has a scene where gentaro is ruminating on the mystery that is ramuda. the song is really cool but he goes out of his way to say ‘ramuda says he’s 24 when he’s actually 44’ or something along those lines and i appreciate him trying to give me a massive headache when i know gentaro doesn’t know anything about ramuda either 😂

another one i like is when gentaro was actually candid for once in his life and admitted his name wasn’t yumeno gentaro. and neither dice nor ramuda believed him lmao 😂 i really dig the direct parallel to the boy who cried wolf, ‘cause he really has lied so much, now nobody believed him when he told the truth (and is that something we should be thinking about going forward with gentaro??? does he want to tell his story but is afraid nobody will believe him??? are the books he’s writing really his honest attempt at telling his story so it’ll at least be out there???)

and finally!! when he called hifumi a son of a bitch lmao

Headcanon:

i’ve seen this one headcanon that gentaro has adopted the personality of his brother as a way of keeping his memory alive! i dig that!! a personal headcanon i have is that gentaro is a hopeless romantic and falls in love very easily. he keeps a diary of the people who caught his eye and heart for the day/indeterminable amount of time

Ships:

His teammates!!!!! gendice is obvious since gentaro deadass does not know how to act around him but gentaro’s fascination ramuda is so under appreciated. like the way it started as a very intense curiosity to the way it evolved into genuine respect and dedication for the ramuda he sees. i can honestly go on about how these two are what ramujaku wishes it could have been could have grown into had chuuoku not botched that up for all parties involved lol

and i really appreciate all interactions between divas gentaro and hifumi. hifumi brings out the worst in gentaro and we see how much hifumi doesn’t give a shit!!! it’s great man!!! they’d probably actually get along if their first impressions hadn’t been garbage lmao
