My boyfriend and I were talking about self-inserts. His self-insert for enstars would just be a old man janitor(Clint McElroy) for Kanata's aquarium, work-buddies with them. Shit talking co-workers with him.

Mine? Gas station night worker working at the totally legit and canon gas station in the middle of Ensemble Square. Making eye contact with Wataru as he comes in to buy a burger for Eichi and sighing as their doves fly around.

i will never forgive the internet for giving such terrible reviews to a book that was frankly one of the best depictions and discussions of queer sexuality and social dynamics in high school i've ever read. all because the main character was a little bit of a douche and the story focused more on character and relationship dynamics rather than the plot. and people are calling it offensive to write it like that when it's like. it's from the perspective of a closeted, confused teen who doesn't know what the hell he's doing and messed up all the time! that's how so teenagers are! holy shit! and he does bad things throughout the book and so does literally every character! because they're children! and the book doesn't have any kind of clear-cut definition of the mc's sexuality or gender and people are MAD about that for some reason! he ends up with a guy he loves but doesn't label himself as anything, still likes a girl, has complicated feelings about whether or not he's queer, and people are mad about that?? it's fucking ridiculous.
