"This language of work was by no means the private language of a single-minded maniac who had lived too long under the volcano. To the contrary, Hill’s ideas were on the leading edge of the terrain where biological science and social science intersected. In particular, the concept of the calorie, as a measure of both energy consumed and work done, emerged in connection with the steam-engine-based economics of work in mid-nineteenth century Europe. By the turn of the twentieth century, the calorie had developed into a unit of equivalency between what people ate and how much work they could generate, what they needed to consume and what they were capable of producing—effectively recasting the body as a measurable machine.Whether or not Hill had a formal grasp of the field of expert knowledge cohering around the calorie and its implications for labor management and social policy, he did understand it implicitly, for he paid his employees in food. He used the way of seeing the relation of food and work that gained expression in the science of the calorie in his campaign to reduce the people who worked on his plantations to mechanisms of value production—to make them his."

call me a fucking luddite but when our manager told us today we have* to use AI to write our documents (and indicate so in the spreadsheet with time and # of documents created), I wanted to walk.
*have as in: if you don’t use it, you’ll be marked as not having done the job properly. Even if your text is correct. The AI is to be used even if you don’t find it useful or necessary

I had a job interview today and I don't think I'm going to take the job as they're super proud of literally spending their lives at the agency.

can i be borderline controversial and say that i do think there's a correlation between the love and adoration for the other kings, Leviathan's brutal honesty about grey-morality and involvement in war when you know him as Leviathan, and his lack of worshipers here under that name. the controversial part being that the other kings seem way more into propaganda flourishing and part of why i say that is because ive known both of them and they fucking do that oops hashtag UPG (PVG) spilled outta my pockets there
ie its always people who work for the other kings i see so caught up in how loving and pure the kings and ''demons'' are, and you COULD say that's just because Lev doesn't have many worshipers under that name but I think its more so because when you know "Leviathan" uhhhhh. like you could say lack of lev worshipers = lack of lev propaganda but i think its more so lev isnt going to pretend to be a beautiful siren man in a suit who tells you he loves you so so much even tho he just met you two seconds ago
#there's many factors IMO why we dont see many Leviathan worshipers so much as Shaivites and (insert other names here)#one of which is this but another big factor is. he. doesnt like Chrxstianity in the way that his brothers do lmfao he has other#ways of worshiping him and other labels that arent ''demon'' or occult and reverse-cxtholic aesthetics including latin and#priesthood and whatnot. i love that shit bc travelling to another country to grow up from age 10 and being exposed to the beauty#of cxtholic architecture and worship and aesthetics was cool af it was really like. i love this expression of devotion i love all human#devotion and i love gold and i love SUFFERING lmfao so. im always like oooo aesthetics and hes like. ah. hmm. no thanks#which is NOT to say thats all demonolatry is and IS to say he much prefers in my experience other ways of worshiping him#milk honey and ghee for one fucking example lmfao. flowers thrown into the ocean. blessing horses. traversing the wilderness. storm#chasing. I GUESS THERES A REASON HIS BIG NAMES are Shiva(/Rudra)/Poseidon/Tengri/etc and not Leviathan#as he was saying to me he's... he's not a god found in churches hes overhead at all times at least partially. hes in our dna. hes in the#trees surrounding our towns hes the deer and the wolves and the wild playfulness vs efficient machinery of horses. the rivers and the ocean#the clouds. mathematics. actual machines. i think trying to tie him into like... latin and chrxstian inspired rites and the word ''demon''.#ive said it before. If you catch him in a certain mood he does actually enjoy roleplaying the ''demon'' persona and the antithesis and#undoing of chrxstianity but. hes. not what he is not. listen he LOVES spooking people and if youre spooked by demons... he loves being#intimidating if you want a big tough king that also understands your deep and dark sides and who is intelligent and gentle but Dark#yeah im sure he'll be Leviathan for you but its like. idk. OH THIS IS. THIS IS THE SECOND REASON. THE POST IS ABOUT THE FIRST#THAT I LISTED LMFAOOOOOO#sorry im so in love w him atm let me talk about him please#ramblings //

i love handsewing but man this would be 100 times easier if i actually had a machine.
#ive been at this lil sack for two hours and its not even done. if i had a machine it wouldve taken 30 mins. MAX. probably not even.#some things you sew just for the fun of it but this like. has an actual use. i kinda need this done.#im making a lil thingy to put train-check-in-card-thingie in =w=bb#its a pain.#i couldve probably asked to use my grandma's machine but 1) anxiety 2) shes on vacation i think 3) id have to learn how to first.#i think learning would be fairly easy especially since this is just some straight connective borders but :/ ya never know.#also. im not using sewing pins. im holding everything together with prayers and two magnets. its not really that hard luckily but.#i really am just making it 10x harder for myself.#to get the fabric flat i ironed it but i didnt wanna get the ironingboard so i just did it on the floor. which isnt good either probably.#oh yeah also i used a frozen pizza cardboard box as structure. which is still a bit visible through the fabric aswell. just a bit.#in conclusion: this all is a mess and probably the least efficient way but :p we ball.#its cute & yellow <3#yay#anyway i really hope it works through the cardboard bc otherwise this'd all been for nothing.#ig i could take out one of the cardboard sides if i really need to.#its almost finished tho!!! only need to do a lil flap and the button.#these will also be done in incredibly inefficient ways but !!!! OH WELL.#im just glad i dont have to spend 10 bucks for the same thing ig <3 /hj#sillyposting

Context: Gus Fring is basically what people think Mine is like. In the Breaking Bad Prequel, he's revealed to be gay, so thank god for that, but aside from that, Fring is focused 100% on efficiency, product, logic, etc. and his Gincarlo Esposito conveys this perfectly
Translation: If movie majima was more bonkers than in Canon, Movie Mine should have a colder machine-like demeanor than he ususally does in canon
(Also how could you not watch Breaking Bad uncultured pleb)
no i got what you were saying dont worry i understood thats just a whole lotta names i gotta read
AND LEAVE ME ALONE I HAVE THE ATTENTION SPAN OF A FRUIT FLY I CAN'T WATCH 62 EPISODESSS

I think it's important to understand that the definition of "abled" and "disabled" in society and the arbitrary ranking of what makes a person "more or less disabled" is intrinsically linked to their ability to work and generate profit. What is and isn't a disability is so fucking blurry if you try and look at it through any other lens. The only thing that makes it a concrete dichotomy or hierarchy is how much labor the owning class can wring out of you before your body and mind are used up and destroyed.

okay but literally right now we have a problem with everything being so repetitive and boring because we live in very anti-interpretation times. Everyone just sees something, adopts the most surface level superficial image of it, and recreates it, and then you have a situation in which everything is a copy of a copy of a copy and everything is so overdone and everyone is doing the same thing so many fucking times and somehow they still miss the charm and the essence of the original thing.
And it's because y'all are so vehemently against interpretation. I'm literally begging everyone to look 3 millimetres beyond the surface aesthetics of what they're inspired by and interpret it. Like i literally do not care about the curtains being blue dude lmao STOP GIVING ME BLUE CURTAINS BECAUSE YOU THINK THEY'RE CULTURALLY KNOWN AND THUS A UNIFYING CUTE ELEMENT IT WAS NEVER ABOUT THE FUCKING CURTAINS AND THE CHARM WAS IN THE CONTEXT, YOU DECONTEXTUALIZING AESTHETICS AND SLAPPING THEM ON TOP OF YOUR POSTMODERN CREATION DOES NOT MAKE IT NEW AND DOES NOT MAKE IT INTERESTING
for the love of gods y'all, interpret things. And work with your interpretation. That is the only source of true creativity, copying does not save you.

Okay, BETC!Blitzwing having introjects based on Astrotrain and Octane is an absolutely galaxy brained idea, but did you mean it in the sense of two of pre-existing alters (most likely Hothead and Random) being based on them to serve as their “replacements” (perhaps for added angst, Blitzwing having done so unconsciously due to a mixture of the Triple Changer procedure messing with his memories and dissociative amnesia) or Blitzwing having other alters besides the three he usually displays that are repressed and/or can’t properly express themselves due to lacking their own faceplates? Both of them are equally good, I’m just curious to see if you were referring to a specific one,
It's an either or situation because as soon as that idea propped up I went to look into the personalities of Astrotrain and Octane to see if they matched any of the face alts, not that the original G1 personalities dictate anything about TFA characteristics considering how many characters (including Optimus himself) has a different twist to their personality. Of course, not every alter in a system fronts (or is even active) so having fellow triple changer headmates that might speak or observe through one of the fronting faces of Blitzwing is still rotating in my mind, if they haven't gone dormant.
If Blitzwing has exomemories from Astrotrain and Octane then his earlier Autobot experiment days would be muddled (more than they already were) by proxy of the fact these introjects may have taken some of his own direct trauma and hold it under their own names, like 'dealing with base frame abuse' from Blitzwing's pre-existing warframe being allocated to Octane with his flight frame or 'being turned into a tool for war' onto Astrotrain's frame alteration into galactic soldier transport vehicle. If they ever were to front maybe they'd borrow a face they prefer or can use to present themselves more accurately.
#ask#anonymous#blitzwing#tfa blitzwing#transformers#tfa#BETCs#bot experiment triple changers#maccadam#the blitzwing we see now isn't quite the same blitzwing that was fresh of the experiment table#depending on the logic of the experiment the faces may be built in or as an unintended bonus#the latter seems more likely because the autobot scientists pride themselves on efficiency#(whether you like their methods and ideologies or not)#so they may consider giving extra faces a weird thing to do especially for their custom war machines#but what does it mean to have extra faces as a triple changer? is it limited to the number of alts you have?#are the faces self-built to fit the vehicles and act as root mode?#i know in the almanac which implies ba as behind the operation to have given blitz the extra faces#were they in fact locked to one face until they had gotten someone to give them the three?#three for the alters that wanted to front? more for the active alts? at request of the front alters that wanted a face?#who knows beyond a cool character design feature that becomes subject to human representation#because by cybertronian standards blitz may be the only system to have it like they do#a DID based on the experiment to give the original jet blitzwing a third mode and secondary alt#even if the bots went to their own significantly less warframe civ mecha that's still at most 4 (living) with this DID#astrotrain and octane may not both fronting because they are already in a frame not their own

The Robot Uprising Began in 1979
edit: based on a real article, but with a dash of satire
Tumblr media
source: X
On January 25, 1979, Robert Williams became the first person (on record at least) to be killed by a robot, but it was far from the last fatality at the hands of a robotic system.
Williams was a 25-year-old employee at the Ford Motor Company casting plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. On that infamous day, he was working with a parts-retrieval system that moved castings and other materials from one part of the factory to another.
The robot identified the employee as in its way and, thus, a threat to its mission, and calculated that the most efficient way to eliminate the threat was to remove the worker with extreme prejudice.
"Using its very powerful hydraulic arm, the robot smashed the surprised worker into the operating machine, killing him instantly, after which it resumed its duties without further interference."
A news report about the legal battle suggests the killer robot continued working while Williams lay dead for 30 minutes until fellow workers realized what had happened.
Many more deaths of this ilk have continued to pile up. A 2023 study identified that robots have killed at least 41 people in the USA between 1992 and 2017, with almost half of the fatalities in the Midwest, a region bursting with heavy industry and manufacturing.
For now, the companies that own these murderbots are held responsible for their actions. However, as AI grows increasingly ubiquitous and potentially uncontrollable, how might robot murders become ever-more complicated, and whom will we hold responsible as their decision-making becomes more self-driven and opaque?

One last thing: every item of clothing you own, except maybe socks, had to be sewn by a real person. Every stitch in every shirt had to be manually done. Every shoe you own was done by hand by someone.
HEY IF YOU ARE READING THIS DO ME A FAVOR
go into another room and pick up a random object and look at it!!
like really look at it!!!
SOMEONE designed that!!
a real life living person set time aside to design that
you will probably never know their name but you should thank them and all the other designers who make the mundane things in your life because otherwise life would be boring with out them
