okay its time for me to put my two cents in the glorious rivals ring after gaining some context.

ok for starters.

i would like to ask you all to relax, take a chill pill this is literally not that deep, it is a BOOK, words on paper, let that sink in before you start screaming and turning on people because of an opinion. yes that opinion might not align with yours, but that does NOT mean you have to force/argue with someone to see it your way because you think you are right.

firstly why are we so pressed about character's behaviours??? you say you want more complex characters and you cant even handle a teen (is he still a teen lmao i dont remember) losing his mind because his gf just got kidnapped AGAIN.

yes violence isnt the answer and neither is what he said but, people are allowed to make mistakes. if i were jameson and my gf just got kidnapped and its bc some random person i've know for like two days that my brother just fell in love with was telling someone i hate info about things (again running of the little context i have) i would crashout too??? like we're not all perfect

yelling at lyra like that probably was a bit much (and hitting grayson but more on that in a sec) but he doesn't trust her and from what ive gathered he probably thinks he's trying to PROTECT grayson from someone he doesn't trust. has he even been given a reason to trust lyra? (i dont think so?) and grayson who's in love with her is trying to PROTECT lyra

and on the flip lyra is obvi being manipulated by *gags* eve and alice so we cant expect her to be in the know with everything so she's literally innocent in this lmao 😭😭

I know you said that you are not really interested in watching this series. But I had written these brief main character overviews when I was bored and to send it to someone. I thought I might share it with you as well. Even if you don't watch the series, I hope you still have fun reading this!

The main characters of Chinese Omegaverse series - Desire

Couple 1 (Enigma x Alpha)

Shen Shaoyou: An arrogant S-class Alpha who believes he is at the top of the food chain and lives his life being a player, loves pretty delicate omegas who cry easily. He loves being the hero for such delicate omegas to depend on. Even with his hard exterior he does have a soft heart and avoids permanent or long relationships because of his parents' relationship. He does not realize that the delicate flower he brought home is the devil's snare he can never get out of. He does not believe in the existance of Enigmas until faced with reality that he has been hunted by one all along. By the time he realizes what is going on, there is no going back.

Hua Yong: A mysterious Enigma (the rarest pokemon) who is the actual epitome of evolution and supersedes every single Alpha with superior genes in everything - including super sperm (he can get alphas pregnant). This Enigma kidnaps all of Shaoyou's ex partners to understand his preferences and essentially becomes that. He masquerades as a week pitiful damsel-in-distress omega and approaches Shoayou while manipulating him emotionally in ways that will have us both horrified and impressed. He is the literal DEVIL disguised as a harmless pretty flower. He mimcs being a prey to lure Shouyou into the trap so that he can devour him later. Nothing is too far for him as long as he gets his Sheng Shaoyou (his exclusive Omega) and gets to fuck him for the rest of his life. He is an absolute psycho who we somehow still end up liking cuz we're impressed by his manipulation skills. I'M COLORBLIND I DONT SEE RED EVERYTHING IS GREEN

Couple 2 (Alpha x Omega)

Shen WenLang: An S-class Alpha with some anger issues and hatred for Omegas because of his past trauma with his parents. Is in love with his secretary even though he is a blockhead and does not realize it himself. Because he does not realize he's in love, he always somehow wneds up spewing bullshit in his jealous mode and ends up hurting Gao Tu every single time!!! He does not realize it soon enough and ends up losing Gao Tu for 3 years. He also reluctantly becomes a wingman and chess piece in Hua Yong's manipulation because they are friends and Hua Yong is also his company's biggest shareholder. They have a friends yet master-and-slave relationship. Which is funny because Hua Yong makes him play the role of a Boss who is sexually harrassing his emplyee(HuaYong) and every time he gets beat up by Sheng Shaoyou. Poor man is so DONE with the first couple, yet can do nothing about it - he ends up becoming the pitiful villain in Hua Yong's cooked up trap for Sheng Shaoyou.

Gao Tu: Dear sweet sweet Omega (the only innocent one among all four leads) who started hiding his identity as an omega by using suppressants because of his shitty abusive father. Later continued to do so because he fell in love with Shen Wenlang and Shen hates Omegas. He will destroy his own body just to stay next to Wenlang as his secretary. He has no idea about Hua Yong and whats actually going on. SO he gets hurt every single time Wenlang hits on Hua Yong. His body is messed up due to long term suppressant usage and is in constant pain due to hormonal imbalance and medically abusing his body ever since he presented as an Omega. He suffers physically due to suppressant abuse and emotionally due to heartbreak. And he SUFFERS in silence!

the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.

and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.

And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.

Honestly the funniest thing abt Don't Starve lore is just that Wagstaff made a robot born from someone's death, full of trauma upon having several out of body experiences that started crashing out and then threw it into the nightmare hell word and somehow didn't expect it to become the most bitter evil angry person ever. If my only exposure to humans was Wagstaff honestly I would've turned out worse we're lucky WX hasn't strangled their fellow survivors in their sleep yet.

As far as I know we don't really know when WX became truly evil and honestly I think it would be very interesting to imply idk, being mauled by hounds and tossed around in an uncaring unforgiving world for years with some canon evidence even suggesting they don't remember too much of life before the constant, might've been why they turned out. Like that. Esp I think it says everything WX can confront Wagstaff stare him down but Wagstaff just avoids their gaze, one of these people is guilty [and knows it too] the other is not.

Also Wagstaff's quote for the nightmare throne implying he meant for WX to die in there ='].

WX feeling the need to tell a Wagstaff inspired machine she's better than her creators, telling another to never trust Wagstaff. I think it screams yet another thing Wagstaff tossed the second it became clear it wasn't doing exactly what he wanted [as WX says about some of his machines discarded like trash] rather than him saving the world from an evil robot born evil.

Also makes for an amazing Frankenstein comparison, make life, don't give it a name, be horrified when it has emotional problems, dump it in the woods, oops it came back- [I know that's not exactly what happened but y'know]

main takeaway from certain fan reactions to the finale is this:

the final scene with ankarna was so meaningful to the bad kids' arcs and how they made peace with being wronged by people they loved, and if all you can focus on is that the rat grinders didn't get much screentime, then you don't love dimension20 and you don't love this world: you want to be playing your own hs themed dnd campaign and you're mad the oc versions of the rat grinders you made up in your head acted ooc. these are not your characters and this is not their story.

Gonna say something controversial.

Ford Pines is a nuanced character who is neither good nor bad. Absolving him of his crimes is actively a detriment to his character and does a disservice to the storytelling of Gravity Falls, but defining him exclusively by his mistakes without taking the time to understand him is a purposefully bad faith take that actively makes your enjoyment of the show worse.

He is neither a good or bad person, because "good" people and "bad" people aren't real. There's just people. And people fuck up sometimes.

If no one fucked up and if no one held onto those fuckups sometimes out of sheer desperation, the world of fiction would be way more boring, unengaging, and dull.

Ford Pines is a mess and I don't want him to be sanitized or demonized. I just want him to be a mess.
