i'm two episodes in to Amazon's spaniard Zorro and it's pretty decent in my opinion.

Down to the costumes, to the story, to the thread of Alejandro de la Vega being the reason why he dons the costume, to the prior Zorro doing what Zorro does best, to the swords, to the intro, to Bernardo, to the Native Americans, to the church, to the priest, to the period piece.

Don't get me wrong WDZ season 1 holds a special place in my heart but this feels like a love letter to it and I don't have much faith in Disney's love letter to it.

My favorite headcanon about Diego?

He married Rosarita, and they lived a long and happy life. It is very important to me that nothing too bad ever happens to Diego and that despite all the dangers he's faced, he dies at a very old age. He's too much of a precious ray of sunshine, and he does so much for everyone else, he deserves a happy life.

Actually, recently I rewatched the Disney series and then the movie The Mask of Zorro back to back, and they actually work pretty well as a continuation of one another, but the idea that this would happen to WDZ's Diego? It just breaks my heart.

As for how he married Rosarita? I have a full 15k story about it, coming up soon ;-)

I was saying the other day why 'Some Likes It Hot' could have an all-star male duo and Britt Lomond got fired from the WDZ because 'the show should have I'll only one star'?

Wilder and Diamond were precise writers. But when it came time to Some Like It Hot’s punch line, they were absolutely indecisive. They got as far as Lemmon ripping off his wig and saying he can’t marry Osgood Fielding III because, “I’m a man.” What comes next? Diamond suggested “Nobody’s perfect,” and Wilder said to keep it in so they could send the script to the mimeographer. But then they were really going to settle it. “We have a whole week to think about it,” Wilder said. “We thought about it all week. Neither of us could come up with anything better, so we shot that line, still not entirely satisfied.” Viewers felt entirely differently. “The audience just exploded,” Wilder said. “That line got one of the biggest laughs I’ve ever heard in the theater. Not an ask but I truly wonder how the reboot will explain why Zoey and Chase (probably) ultimately broke up. Maybe they broke up after graduating PCA and naturally grew apart but who knows… I think that’s what is making me most curious out of the whole reboot (all of this is under the dumb assumption they’re not together due to the What Did Zoey Say bit from years ago being somehow canon even though Dan isn’t apart of this project) Rambling aside, I hope they give Sean Flynn some grit with Chase in the reboot as well. He’s a great actor and it’d be a shame if they didn’t give him equal parts comedy and drama lol

Hoping they don’t flanderize the characters in the reboot even though that seems to be the trend these days 😭 it’d be so interesting if we got to see more of Zoey’s emotions now that she’s older (so hoping they don’t just make her life entirely perfect but her only “problem” is she’s single lmao)

I very much admire your hope. I do not share it as I am a cynic, but I truly do hope that I am wrong, and whoever they got to write it has done something interesting and unique with it instead of throwing a bunch of cliches and lazy fan wishes together and that they can actually write female characters, and that Jamie Lynn can actually act now and has more than two facial expressions, and that Sean can still act and gets the opportunity to perform as well and as interestingly as he did in the best parts of S3. Fingers crossed.
