The big boy himself, Rova kha ertah Shak.
I bred, raised, chased and bought him back and then slapped more RMA on him that I should have but he now has, on top of the White Merle and Black Points he had, Black Smoke, and 3 different Inverted Panda: Yellow, Honey and Beige.
He is my current leader and a chaser stud, and you might have seen his name on the NBW leaderboard.
He will sire most of my Gen Chaser pups but first we have to push that stats a bit more.
His breeding info.

Marzi's Old House Supply Kit: A Non-Exhaustive List
So you've moved into an old house! Congratulations! No, no, look at me. Look in my eyes. Congratulations. You don't need smart lighting. You don't need paltry things like "showers that don't make ungodly noises if you set the water outside a very specific temperature range" or "logical staircases." Because those people who say They Built Them Sturdier Back Then is survivorship bias are wrong, lead paint is only a problem if you eat it, and your new home is basically a tank
also it might have stained glass. so basically you win
(no but seriously the Survivorship Bias argument is just like. tell me you don't live in a city with large quantities of remaining working-class 110-year-old buildings without telling me. I do. they're sturdier. end of.)
but you might need some things to make it a bit more comfortable. here's what I've found, over eight years of living in houses built 1920 or earlier
Power strips. Depending on the age of your house, it may or may not have had electricity originally. And even if it did, whoever lived there almost certainly had fewer things to plug in than the average denizen of the 2020s. There also may have been gorgeous wall sconces that some asshole heartlessly ripped out at some point, forcing you to use the hideous hateful Overhead LightTM or plug in a bunch of lamps. Either way, you're going to need to turn that single outlet in the room into several more. Hence, power strips.
(hey, I never said this list was free of my design biases. deal)
A Good Fan. You may live in a place where retrofitting with air conditioning was commonplace in the last several decades. I do not. So a good pedestal fan can make the difference between comfort and just not sleeping at all from late June to mid-September. Weirdly, I did once look at a place that was from the 1850s and had been retrofitted with central A/C, which is vanishingly rare in even urban Massachusetts. But I digress.
A stud-finder. "Marzi, you spent years of your life explaining to tourists that picture rails existed because trying to hammer nails directly into horsehair plaster and then putting weight on them did Bad Things." Yes I did. "What did you attempt to do the second week of living in your first house with horsehair plaster?" ...shut up. I used the Poltergeist Method to find solid wood- I don't know if it's actually studs or the lath or what; I'm not a builder -to hang my Lady and the Unicorn tapestry from, namely knocking on the wall until it doesn't sound hollow. You might want to go a bit quieter and more advanced. Or, if you have a picture rail, embrace the "long visible hanging wires" look. It is in fact there for a reason!
Window screens. You are actually required by Massachusetts state law to provide these to your tenants. Doesn't mean my last landlady did. And if you own your place, live in another state, or have a similarly laissez-faire building owner, you might end up needing to Bring Your Own Insect-Blocking Shield. Just make sure you've got them, one way or the other. Because see above re: fan vs. air conditioning in old houses.
WD-40. When's the last time those hinges were oiled? Potentially before television. And they WILL squeak. UPDATE I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT WD-40 IS NOT A GOOD LONGTERM SOLUTION. Find "actual oil." Not sure what the more specific name is. Good to know!
That's just what I've found needful so far, but I'm happy to update the list as required!
And you'd better believe, if I owned my own place, this would include "the name of a preservation contractor to undo all the unnecessary ~*MoDeRnIzInG*~ aesthetic bullshit the past owners did since the End of Mainstream Western House Beauty AKA 1920 (That Brief Rococo Revival In the 1930s Can Maybe Sit With Us)"

Operation Nestled Dragon
Tumblr media
Even before the passage of its iconic Transport Act 1947, the first Attlee ministry had been laying the groundwork for what we would today call a strategic steam reserve. Operation Nestled Dragon, which went into effect as early as December 1945, called for “at least 4,000” steam locomotives to be stored and kept in constant readiness in the event of “any cataclysm which could strain supply.” This was a somewhat arbitrary number; the LMS alone had 8,000 locomotives on the eve of Nationalization. It was believed that a majority of the country’s engines would survive attack during a wartime scenario, the most likely reason to activate the reserve at the time. 4,000 engines kept as a backup to unscathed stock was deemed sufficient. (It has to be said there were no strategic reserves of coaches or trucks, whether planned or even merely discussed!)
These engines and the necessary facilities would be dispersed as needed throughout the country. Bigger towns would have more engines and more MPDs (motive power depots) allocated to them, London having the most. The number of engines kept in a single “strategic MPD” was always limited to 20. In this way, an attack such as an aerial bombardment would be less likely to take out a population center’s entire locomotive stud at once.
To “activate” the reserve, the Minister of Transport was required to approach the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, and a vote be held on the matter.
Strategic MPDs could be crude or elaborate. By design they were severed from the nearest railway, so that no tracks were visible for any overcurious trespasser, potential spies or reconnaissance aircraft to follow. Every MPD had to be able to have these missing rails laid back in “within or under three hours” if called upon. Often, abandoned mines and tunnels were used and their insides fitted out. These ‘naturally-occurring’ locations were codenamed “dragon’s lairs.” Other times a location had to be built from scratch; these artificial MPDs were codenamed “rabbitholes.” Always was there emphasis on keeping the MPDs dry, ventilated and fireproof. Each MPD needed a turntable, a reliable water supply, coal bunkers, storage space for rails, sleepers, a small number of spare parts, adequate headroom and an overhead crane for heavy repairs like boiler swaps, and of course bunks for crews should the reserve be activated and they be based there. Otherwise bunkrooms were vacant, although men on duty for maintenance of stock and depots did find use for them during their shifts.
There was little methodology in place for which engine classes were preferred for the reserve. Great Western engines were less favored as they were built to run on high-quality South Welsh coal, and it was assumed the quality of coal sourced during a crisis would be poor. In any event however, some still “found their way in.” In general however, Eastern, Midland and ex-WD locos formed the majority of the workforce. Every engine belonging to the various military railways such as that at Longmoor were considered part of the reserve too, so it could be said that several pieces of the reserve’s stock were out in the open all along. Also joining their ranks as they came about were BR Standard classes, some built specifically for the reserve. These had neither BR nor serial numbers, being built “off the books.”
At first, engines reserved were simply stored and maintained in the livery they wore at the time of their “reassignment.” As time went on, (and their maintainers became bored,) a semi-official livery of black with white and navy blue stripes was settled upon and applied, one engine at a time. Quickly a crest for the Strategic Reserve was designed by one anonymous artistic crewman, and the reserve’s motto agreed: “Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit,” a superstitious British phrase.
Attlee and Churchill were both said to have toured a strategic MPD at least once. “Here we are in the belly of the beast. You lot have done some splendid work; Britain thanks you,” Attlee had said on his visit. “Men will do anything to play trains away from the wife without interrogation,” Churchill remarked on his, perhaps half in jest.
Thus was the system. As steam on the public or “civilian” British Railways was phased out, further freshly withdrawn engines were added to the reserve stocklist. Much speculation was made as to why coal bunkers and hoppers and water towers continued to be maintained even as the steam engines finally vanished from the national network in August 1968. This was explained away as infrastructure left in place for railtours by preserved engines, and in hindsight must have sounded ridiculous.
As generations of enginemen retired, they had to pass on their skills to the fresh blood. The years then went by without significant cause for alarm. The closest the reserve came to being activated was at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis in late October 1962; declassified materials confirm that as many as half of the reserve was in full steam awaiting the call, and track gangs were ready and waiting to lay in rails. The crisis ebbed of course, and by the second week of November, the number of engines idle was back to “Normal.”
Margaret Thatcher’s Government planned to shut the program down, but this was averted… just. John Major however couldn’t be dissuaded. Privatization was in full swing, and the Soviet Union had dissolved itself. The reserve suddenly seemed very redundant, (but per its own 1945 definition, not completely,) and the winding down of it all began. On the 1st of December 1998, some 53 years after the beginning of Operation Nestled Dragon, all 4,855 locomotives and their associated depots and crews were demobilized by the Blair ministry and most of the reserve’s documentation declassified. Everything became public knowledge, including the engines themselves, quite literally overnight.
At once, the locos and their facilities were up for auction. Dozens of Strategic MPDs were made into living museums demonstrating how the reserve worked. Many of the engines belonged to classes otherwise thought extinct, such as the LNER Thompson L1s and the LMS Garratts, and here were surviving specimens being pulled out of the metaphorical wardrobe like nothing. The British preservation scene was in a matter of hours awash in perfectly functional engines no one expected to still exist, which coupled together in a line were longer than most if not all of the railways themselves! Several also were sold abroad to the United States and Canada.
The public couldn’t be blamed for this all being such a shock. They hadn’t been prepared.
Their predecessors however certainly were.

What You Need to Know About CVD Diamond Manufacturers: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
In recent years, the diamond industry has witnessed a significant transformation with the emergence of lab-grown diamonds. Among these, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) diamonds have gained immense popularity for their purity, ethical sourcing, and sustainable production methods. This comprehensive guide delves into the world of CVD diamonds, focusing on manufacturers, jewelry, pricing, and purchasing options.
What are CVD Diamonds?
CVD diamonds are lab-grown diamonds produced using a method called Chemical Vapor Deposition. This process involves creating a controlled environment where carbon atoms are deposited onto a substrate, forming a diamond crystal. Unlike natural diamonds, which take millions of years to form underground, CVD diamonds are created in a matter of weeks in a controlled laboratory setting.
CVD Diamond Manufacturers
Several manufacturers around the world specialize in producing CVD diamonds. These manufacturers use advanced technology and state-of-the-art equipment to create high-quality diamonds that are virtually indistinguishable from natural diamonds. Some of the leading CVD diamond manufacturers include:
Element Six: Element Six is a prominent manufacturer of synthetic diamonds, including CVD diamonds. They offer a wide range of CVD diamond products, including rough diamonds, polished diamonds, and diamond jewelry.
Pure Grown Diamonds: Pure Grown Diamonds is known for producing lab-grown diamonds using the CVD process. They focus on creating diamonds that are environmentally friendly and ethically sourced.
WD Lab Grown Diamonds: WD Lab Grown Diamonds is another reputable manufacturer of CVD diamonds. They offer a variety of diamond products, including loose diamonds, engagement rings, and other jewelry items.
CVD Diamond Jewelry Manufacturers
CVD diamonds are increasingly being used in jewelry due to their high quality and affordability. Many jewelry manufacturers specialize in creating stunning pieces using CVD diamonds. These manufacturers offer a wide range of jewelry options, including:
CVD Diamond Rings: CVD diamonds are often used in engagement rings and wedding bands. These rings feature stunning CVD diamonds set in various metals, such as gold, platinum, and silver.
CVD Diamond Earrings: CVD diamonds are also popular in earrings, including studs, hoops, and dangle earrings. These earrings showcase the brilliance of CVD diamonds and are available in various styles and designs.
CVD Diamond Necklaces: Necklaces featuring CVD diamonds are elegant and sophisticated. These necklaces come in different lengths and designs, making them suitable for various occasions.
CVD Diamond Price
The price of CVD diamonds can vary depending on several factors, including the size, quality, and color of the diamond. Generally, CVD diamonds are more affordable than natural diamonds, making them an attractive option for those looking for high-quality diamonds at a lower cost. The price of CVD diamonds is also influenced by market demand and supply, as well as the reputation of the manufacturer.
Buying CVD Diamonds Online
Buying CVD diamonds online has become increasingly popular due to the convenience and wide selection of diamonds available. When buying CVD diamonds online, it is essential to choose a reputable and trustworthy retailer. Look for retailers that offer certified CVD diamonds and provide detailed information about the diamond's specifications, such as cut, clarity, and carat weight. Additionally, consider the retailer's return policy and customer reviews before making a purchase.
Conclusion
CVD diamonds offer a sustainable, ethical, and affordable alternative to natural diamonds. With advancements in technology, CVD diamonds have become increasingly popular in the jewelry industry. As a consumer, it is essential to educate yourself about CVD diamonds and choose reputable manufacturers and retailers when purchasing these beautiful gems. Whether you are looking for an engagement ring, earrings, or necklace, CVD diamonds are a stunning and eco-friendly choice that will last a lifetime.
FAQs
Q: What is the difference between CVD diamonds and natural diamonds?
A: CVD diamonds are lab-grown diamonds created using a process called Chemical Vapor Deposition, while natural diamonds are formed naturally over millions of years deep within the earth. CVD diamonds have the same chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds but are created in a controlled environment in a fraction of the time it takes for natural diamonds to form.
Q: Are CVD diamonds real diamonds?
A: Yes, CVD diamonds are real diamonds. They have the same chemical composition (pure carbon) and crystal structure as natural diamonds, making them indistinguishable from natural diamonds to the naked eye.
Q: Are CVD diamonds environmentally friendly?
A: Yes, CVD diamonds are considered more environmentally friendly than natural diamonds. The process of creating CVD diamonds consumes less energy and produces fewer carbon emissions compared to the mining process for natural diamonds. Additionally, CVD diamonds are not associated with the environmental and social issues often associated with diamond mining.
Q: How are CVD diamonds graded for quality?
A: CVD diamonds are graded using the same criteria as natural diamonds, known as the 4Cs: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and other gemological laboratories provide grading reports for CVD diamonds, detailing these characteristics.
Q: Can CVD diamonds be used in engagement rings and other jewelry?
A: Yes, CVD diamonds are commonly used in engagement rings, earrings, necklaces, and other jewelry pieces. They offer a more affordable and sustainable option compared to natural diamonds, making them popular among environmentally conscious consumers.

So I wondered, could cutters made for polymer clay be used on ceramic clay? The answer (so far and by the grace of WD-40, praise be unto thee) yes!!
The method is def gonna take some practice to refine, that's for sure. But so far I'm ecstatic.
Why not just use polymer clay? I ceramic glaze changes colors, and textures based on how thick it is or where it pools. So cutters thst make such nice indents are going to be SO FUN once I mess with glazes!!
Im so hyped for the little potion studs too!! I can paint the blank ones with weird little things too!

Reviving my WD-posting with some of my current favorite dogs.
I'm sort of wrapping up my not-very-successful Mojave project and starting a new line. First two are a pair of NBW grullas, my lead (Denali) and future stud (Kenai) respectively.
Last one — Gneiss — is an NBW slate with storm eyes that is actually a great grandchild of my very first T3, Bazalt, whom I loved dearly. I have kept their non-chased littermate, so I actually have the "real" lineage preserved:
Tumblr media
Gneiss might become a stud, but I'm not sure yet. They were extremely lucky to roll a Sterling Lupos mark, and I'm considering keeping them as a private line breeder. Honestly, not sure yet!
Anyway, all of these will most likely be stalkers. I tried training Gneiss as a chaser, but they kept getting smr/wis/str level ups, and I needed another stalker anyway... so yeah!

I enjoy both ~realistic~ and ~unrealistic~ animal simulator games but in both cases I just want them to be honest in the marketing. I see the word "realism" in relation to Wolvden a lot, even though there are literally neon-blue wolves, wolves with merle markings like dogs, wolves with magically glowing eyes, an entire event based around magic, being able to cure all illnesses and injuries by making herbal medicines, the whole stud system... Contrast to WolfQUEST which, although less of a "pet sim" per se, actually is 100% realistic to real wolf appearance and behavior. I enjoy fantasy as well but I want it to actually be marketed as fantasy, not hyping up "realism" only to be really heavy-handed with sparkledogs and magic.
That's totally fair! Tbh "realism" is...misapplied a lot in all kinds of discussions, this is an issue I've run into with the WC community even. You can have complete realism in one aspect and complete fantasy in another. WD/LD are "realistic" in comparison to other pet games in the sense that they use a realistic art style, and are more granular and sometimes more difficult than other games in the genre. The WD team also did at least try to take into account actual wolf behavior when constructing the mechanics. But that's about as far as it goes.
I will say that the current plans are kind of a similar mix of reality and fantasy. I want most mechanics to be pretty down-to-earth, but there's gonna be a heavy dose of animal fiction contrivances and occasional magic. Mostly because a lot of people like to dress up their petsite pets tbh.

Hey, I’m back! < 3 Been slowly getting back into the games since for now I have a little more time, but I find LD easier to return to than WD, so I’ve been hanging there for the most part. Not much of interest has happened, I am passively looking for an heir (studding out my girls to BO kings when they are in heat) but been cursed with one cub litters for all of them < / 3 This random melanism popped up a little bit back though, with Mfupa, having  inherited 7 of her 8 BO markings! Cameo base is pretty handy too, though I haven’t found an active Qahir factor king/queen that catches my eye yet < / 3 I am hesitant on selling this one simply because she is almost a clone of Mfupa.

I decided to try my hand at a LD design for fun. I was GOING to go one in WD but decided to play it a bit safer bc I know more LD markings.
Korat base w/ a SHIT ton of Noctis markings, exactly 1 Cherry marking and a few white markings
I mostly made this bc i miss having a Korat base stud a lot, lmao.
If I can, i may attempt at this for a king, who knows. I don’t know how many of the markings are immediately attainable tho
