You know what's super fun with surgery?

Late post-op complications, that's what.

Anyway I LIVE. Walked straight up to death and pinched its ear like my old nana used to when I ate her flowers. I was a dumb kid.

Anyway I'm good. Spent some time at the hospital, home, hospital, home, but we came back swinging. Obv I've fallen behind on my writing but I'm right back home and ready to slam out some more words (while chilling, ok, if my doctor is reading this. I'm chill.)

I'll try getting to some asks between my bouts of story progression, depending on inspiration! I'm bursting with ideas though. All think time and no write time makes Toast a very soggy bread.

Veered off the linear timeline (jumped scenes and chapters because who's gonna stop me lol) and honestly, I've never felt a rush like when I'm writing this ragtag group going clubbing. How organically they act all different in the spotlight. Ah, my heart.

Hiii!! I'm here, and alive (despite the winter terrain trying very hard to fix that lol my town's never heard of SANDING??)

Sorry for being so quiet lately! That's very much not like me in any situation, but I've actually been physically and mentally preparing for a major surgery happening this Saturday. Had to stop smoking too so I've been extra cranky and trying very hard not to snap at people around me.

I'll be around once I'm out of the hospital and on bed rest, which means a lot of writing for me for the next 4-6 weeks yay! I choose to see this as a vacation, and no one can stop me.

Anyway, thank you for the fun asks in the inbox, they've helped me quell some stress <3

Oh, it's Valentines day! Though I don't celebrate it (waiting on the chocolate clearance sales so I can bake brownies hehe), but my little Valley peeps sure do, in their own way! While obviously they'd all spend this day with their s/o if they had one, they have their own ways of celebrate when single too!

Mace, he spends time with the widowed elderly in town, bringing flowers to men and women alike. Once all that's done, he uses the remaining bouquets to spruce up the barn.

Alice throws a little event at her bar, complete with a cooking lesson where people can make their own Valentines chocolates, by hand! It's quite popular with both young and old.

Judge enjoys a calm day if on duty, but if by some miracle he has a day off, he spends this day visiting an old, previous-life typa friend that's settled in Benitoca. It's like a once-a-year therapy session lol.

Sadie has made a tradition on Valentines day to burn one or two of the endless letters from her ex. Before that she buys herself flowers, some Malbec, and puts her phone on do not disturb mode, for once.

Hello loves! For anyone that saw my last post about getting surgery, great news! Kinda obvious that I'm good if I'm on here getting my ramble on lol.

But everything's okay! Apparently the only thing I did when waking up from anesthesia was wonder where my glasses are. I don't wear glasses. Who knows what was going on in my head, maybe I should go check my vision if my subconscious be like that.

They're keeping me overnight to make sure all the narcotics flush out of my bod, and I'm taking all this time to gather inspo for the hospital scene that's inevitably gonna be in the game. Twice, actually, because I'm a drama gremlin hehe

Anyhow, that's my little update! I'll be home tomorrow and I can't wait to eat proper food lol this hospital stuff is so generic and I can feel my brain craving something well-seasoned. Plain tomatoes just ain't it.

I finally got a new phone!! And I realized I never told y'all that it even broke lol (I was walking in my own home, in wool socks and went ass over tits, slammed that thing right on the floor, obliterated the screen. RIP. Clown ahh behavior, that's what it was). So I've been stuck with a Galaxy A5 and lemme tell you, that bih had zero autocorrect and took a minute to register keystrokes. I almost cried.

But ToASt, why not use computer to communicate? I hear you ask.

Caveman brain like taptap on phone. Tap tap give haptic feedback that make brain go eeheheehe.

But it's all sorted now, I'm gonna make some homemade bread and start going through the *squint* 17 asks in my inbox. Sorry for the incoming flood lol

Don't you just hate it when you're going to bed (It's 2AM) and Spotify gives you A Song (Big Iron) that suits a character (Judge) so we'll that you start daydreaming about an entire AU (1880s).

I've held the angst close to my chest but it's time to let one of those sad little doves fly 🕊️

Anyway here's stuff from my notes to explain why the Gannon's don't really get on like a normal family, have an enjoy ,,

When Mama Gannon died, Judge was 24, fighting a pointless war overseas. He wasn't given permission to fly home for the funeral, and it's driven a divide between him and his dad, for the old man never listened to the reason and only assumed. He looks unaffected by it, but what can he do.

When Mama Gannon died, Mace was 17, and it broke him. He gave up on going to college and spent all his time with the horses, and couldn't attend the funeral out of grief. His father still hasn't forgiven him, and running away to join the rodeo without a word didn't help the relationship any.

When Mama Gannon died, Archie was 10. He lost his entire family overnight, and attended the funeral alone with his dad who had lost more than any of them; his wife, his best friend, and both his oldest sons. He remembers holding his dad's shaking hand, and begging at least one of his brothers to show up, but they never did.

When Mama Gannon died, a part of Charles died as well. The light disappeared from the world, and nothing mattered anymore. Survivors guilt would weigh heavy on his shoulders along with the anger and disappointment that came with the two empty chairs right next to him. He'd squeezed that little hand in his like his life depended on it.

There have been thoughts about a love triangle in my little heehoo hindbrain. Some dramatics. Some tensions. Some lip-smacking angst.

Here's a poll for you to guess what I've been planning. Perhaps to add later when a good demo is out. Maybe from the start. Maybe as a side story, an Au if you will. Maybe never, who knows hehe. But I've been toying with the idea of a triangle and I'm 80% sure it'll appear at some point as an exclusive path you can go down, even if most of the romance in this game is open and the ROs don't really mind. Just want to add a little spice ya feel?

Realized I'm still on chapter one because SOMEONE (me) decided that there needs to be four branches that lead to two additional choices that further lead to different outcomes and dramatics depending on how you react. There's a minimum of 10 variants how your first encounter with the Gannon Family can go.
