I write a lot of mixed pairs because the tension there gives me a lot of room to explore both halves of the pairing. I've learned about the serpent/avian war that way, witch wardings and household charms, werewolves food rituals, hyena social hierarchies, and faery magic taboos. Writing mixed species romances is my FAVORITE and I will keep doing it forever XD

The current fad for people braiding jewels into their hair started with a character in a popular novel. Most people don’t even know that’s where it comes from, and it’s so widespread now that they don’t care even if they do know.

Any time a foreigner marries into the royal family, they’ll start a brief craze for the architecture and fashions of their homeland. Sometimes the craze ends in a few centuries. Sometimes it becomes so firmly entrenched that it’s used millennia after the death of the person who inspired it.

If a famous historical artefact is discovered, everyone wants a replica of it. Everyone. Some of the replicas are so close to the original that they’ve been mistaken for it. This has led to at least five different museums all claiming to have the original, and no one knows who’s right.

In the modern Asylumverse setting, the biggest tensions are Otherside vs Mortalside. But throughout the ages, there have been tensions between avians and serpents, faeries and chimera, griffics vs mara, hyenas vs wolves, witches vs shifters, and humans vs anyone and everything "scary" 🙄

Travel through Faery is incredibly difficult, as the inner Courts arent exactly fixed in space/time. The best way to travel is in the company of a caravan, or with a chimera band. But just casually, for funsies? Its not really advisable
