Jonathan "I REFUSE to become another GODDAMN mystery" Sims and The "I dont want to turn into some ghost story like Evelyn Graham" Reporter would be freinds i think. or the greatest of enemies.

Some mediocre ship sketches of birdie and the reporter.
The last time I did a ship drawing was 7 years ago with some creepy pasta stuff, so this feels like new territory(๑•﹏•)

"My curse is to know, and when I know too much, things get difficult and complicated." -Do You Copy?, Episode 109
"Did any of you know, in my senior year of high school, I was voted, 'Most Likely To Get Killed As Consequence Of Reckless Thirst For Forbidden Knowledge?'" -Camp Here and There, Episode 1
"I'm just a girl with a microphone. I just… I hear stories of these amazing reporters changing lives because they fearlessly searched for the truth. But… I don't think I'm brave enough to do that." -Witherburn After School News, Episode 22
(I have a clear favorite type of character and that's people whose search for knowledge causes them problems and who have to deal with weird paranormal forest-y areas.)

My Witherburn Afterschool News Theory
The Disappearances- obviously it's something to do with the Clarks, but I think they're running a cult in the town that are sacrificing the kidnapped people to some kind of God. I'm not sure if this god is real, but I suspect it's the man that the mayor was babbling about in Episode 21, which does somewhat incline me to believe that there is a real person they're worshipping, although I'm not sure if he has magical powers or not. They are probably sending out members of the cult into the woods to lure in the kids that they would then kill. This cult has also been going since at least the 1950s, kidnapping and killing outcasts since then, but has recently started to up its activity.
The Monsters- I'm still not sure if there are monsters or not. If there are monsters then I think they are being caused by the cults activity, possibly with the kids being turned into them, as was said to have happened to Evelyn Grahm as described in Episode 8. This is also backed up by several of the mlMonsters of the Week being missing children transformed into monsters (Episodes 4, 10, 20). Alternatively, if there are no monsters then I think they are the actions of the cult being seen by outsiders and misunderstood, see Monster of the Week Episode 3, 17 and 21. Honestly with what we know so far this could go either way, but I'm thinking somewhere in the middle, that there's real monsters being brought about by the cult, while people are mistaking their activities in the woods for monsters. Honestly this just depends on what the writers find scarier, the body horror of the transformation, or the cult terrorising a small town.
Hunter and Eva- I think Hunter was recruited to the cult by his parents, who encouraged his his horrible behaviour in order to provide the cult with a scapegoat when the time came. I think Eva was forced to join the cult by her father and was leaving the graffiti in order to sabotage the cult without being caught. As for her claim about them summoning the apocalypse, I'm not sure. She may have lied to, or this could be accurate, we don't have enough information yet. Either way it probably won't make a difference this season, which is the time frame I'm working from.
What I think is coming next- I think that the Reporter will go onto the Clarks secret land in the finale after the cult has betrayed her by going back on their work and taking someone else. I think they will then kidnap her while she's there, in an attempt to force her back into speaking in their favour. I think the actual Witherburn Afterschool News program will then be taken over by either one of the Reporters relatives, or by Birdie who will be trying to save the Reporter from the cult, while fighting the disinformation they would be spreading through the Reporters mouth.
That's just what I think will happen, and I hope I've got at least a few things right.

im not going to lie I think it would be pretty easy to figure out the reporters identity. Like she goes to witherburn highschool so it has to be someone there. As far as I can tell she doesn’t mask her voice. And she always details what events she went to, so you could be like these 4 people are the only people who have been at all these events. Oh and this isn’t in a “hmm the writer could have done a better job” way its just an observation lol they’re doing a great job
also in todays episode (25) shes like yeah i used to run the news paper until they confiscated them and I feel like it would be pretty easy to find out who that person was

MY MASTER THEORY FOR WBASN THUS FAR CONSIDERING EP 19:
Okay so the Appalachian mountains are nearby Witherburn, so much so that they went hiking there for the senior trip, which also implies that magnolia is nearby which matters later. anyways, my current standing theory is that the woods really do eat people, and the clarks are feeding them kiddos to ensure they don't take anyone 'important'. the sheriff is in on this as well because it grants him & his daughter protection. these kiddos become the cryptids that are spotted by mr. pickler and the like. sure, the number of missing is not equal to the number of cryptids, but there could always be some from the surrounding area we havent heard about alongside witherburn's, or a few of the cryptids could just be fake. the choir robes & ropes that they were photographed in imply a ritual for this feeding/transformation process, which further ties in my next idea: Hunter is slowly succumbing to it as well. His anger issues seem to be getting worse and worse, which is funnily enough why he couldn't really take Amelia, even though it' be convenient for the clarks for them to do that (the farrows would likely give up their shop). alongside that, he's also becoming more animalistic. the snapping his teeth on the hike and the almost running into the forest both indicate towards this. with his certainty that he is godlike, it wouldn't be out of the question that he himself is performing a lot of these rituals and kidnappings. which makes it also not out of the question that he himself is becoming the same kind of creature that he is turning everyone else into. this ties into the acquisition of small businesses, possibly trying to keep people away from the nature they're doing this in. this also ties into the graffiti, since it was written on the clarks' home as in monsters are *here* such as hunter. finally, the apocalypse in question could be the clarks turning this ritualistic stuff upon the town, or even the world.

I've been thinking about what kind of dress the reporter got herself for homecoming, so this is my idea for birdie and the reporter
tho I only have a vague idea what homecoming is so take this with a grain of salt lol. I guess this is more prom dress adjacent??
