Coming off of Arkham City, I decided to give Arkham Origins a go for the first time and I could not finish this one as it just made me too frustrated. Despite that, there are still some things I liked which really amounts to all the stuff they took from Arkham City and put into this game. The free flow combat, the gadgets, gliding around and so on. Heck, I was not even bothered by the different voice for Batman as I think it's very fitting since Batman is only in his second year of crime fighting.
But, the things that I did not like about my time with the game far outweighs anything else I could say. The boss fights are just bad in my opinion. The worst of them is Deathstroke. I died so many times. So. Many. Times. He has like three phases and what I didn't know until I looked it up is that, in the second phase, the point I was constantly dying, that you basically have to wait for him to attack, counter it and then do anywhere between one to four hits and that's what you have to do for the second and third phases and wish that there had been a hint during the fight relating to that. The fight against Bane was also very frustrating too. I knew I had to do the ultra cape stun but what I didn't realize is that there are moments where I had to specifically jump over and get behind him to do the ultra cape stun.
But, to me, the biggest negative that Origins commits is having so much busy work. Now, I know that Arkham City had the Riddler trophies but, aside from side mission, that was really it. Origins takes it to a whole different extreme. First, there's the comms towers that you have to deal with if you want to be able to use the fast travel points. Once you do those, each area will have ten signal jammers that you can take out which I still have no idea what those did. Then you have Enigma data handlers that you'd question to be able to see the location of Enigma data packs in each area and there are a lot of those. Finally, you have Penguin weapon cache's that I don't remember how many there are in each area but they exist. I just don't understand why WB Montreal thinks that keeping players engaged in an open world game is done by collecting a bunch of crap and that is why I call it busy work because it's not at all fun. Yes, I know it's optional, minus the comms towers, but I still don't like it.
But, yea, Arkham Origins just was not fun and that's why I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

So what do I have to do to get in contact with one of the developers of Gotham Knights and ask them to pretty please with sugar on top release a patch that lets us customize transmogs?

Alright, alright. I'll take a break, but only a short one.
I started the game last night, and I honestly don't have many bad things to say about it. I think the only thing I wish they had was a tagging system/targeting system that stayed up a little longer.
The game has a good sense of humor to it, and the pacing *feels* right. I honestly haven't stopped smiling since I've started it.
It feels close enough to the Arkham games to be cousins (if not sisters) and I know they're two completely different entities, but for those who've played the Rocksteady series, it feels similar enough to Arkham Knight gameplay.
I love the outfits, and I even love the crafting aspect of it, as simple as it is, because it allows you to customize your experience. They really said, you have options here of mixing and matching your characters throughout the game, or if you want you can play through them individually.
It doesn't feel like a punishment to switch characters each night, to experiment, and I recall watching an interview with the devs where they really kind of wanted to make it an enjoyable experience to test out the different paths.
All in all, I am 100% glad I splurged on the game (It was deluxe or nothing for me, baybeeee.) We'll see if it makes it into the top ten faves.

I am going to admit that despite the mostly negative attention that Gotham Knights has received, there's apart of me that was very curious about it and so I took a chance it and...I lasted a whole two hours before I couldn't take any more of.
Now, I didn't think the game was bad no, Gotham Knight commits the sin of being utterly boring. In the opening moments of the game, I was having fun learning the mechanics and I did a couple nights of patrol and this is where the fun wore off. It wore off because on the two nights I was out on patrol, you just did the same busy work each time. Yes, it was just busy work, like in Arkham Origins but worse. See, the map has these white triangles that represent various crimes in progress that you can stop but these are ultimately meaningless.
That's because there are more important crimes in progress, ones that have recommended levels and difficulty tied to them. Examples are rescuing civilians that have been kidnapped and have bombs attached to them, stopping criminals trying to break out other criminals that are being transports and so on. I did some of these on my first night of patrol, came back for the second night and had more of the same ones just in different locations and I just find that really boring. Like with Arkham City and Arkham Origins, I just want to focus on the main story and do side stuff after that. But, Gotham Knights makes you grind out a bunch of side crap just to be able to reach the next main story point and I am not a fan of that.
The other thing I don't like is how experience is character based. The first night I went out as Batgirl and I reached level two. The second night I went out at Nightwing and managed to get him to level four. But, if I were to go out again as Batgirl, she'd still be level two. You have four characters that someone can play as and you expect them to level each one of them individually? No, that's really stupid. Had the game actually kept me interested, I would have just played the whole thing as Nightwing and not worried about the others.
A small combat related thing. I mentioned before that Gotham Knights was developed by WB Montreal, the same ones behind Arkham Origins. So, tell me why, when it comes to combat, did they remove the counter? Yea, you can't counter enemy attacks, you can only evade them and I think that's stupid considering that all four of these character were trained by Batman.
That is just my experience with the couple of hours I spent with Gotham Knights. I think it's boring and not worth the time.
