Different types of character illustration

ANIMATED 

Charcters designed for animaition can anywhere from simple clean lines and flat colour to realistic design, it oftens depends on the type of animation the charcter is being used for. Animated characters come in a huge variety of styles which makes it a very broad character design platform. 

MOBILE GAMES

Characters designed for mobile games are often purposely designed out of proportion to put certain focus on a particular aspect of the character. This is seen a lot with the head, small body with minimal detail and the head significantly larger with more detail which thern becomes the central focus of the character. This is so that the character can be easily recognised within gameplay. 

CHILDRENS BOOK

Characters designed for childrens books are often simple and full of texture. Some are more complex than others, depending on the age of the audience. Childrens book illustration allows fro the use of wide variety of different mark making to achieve different styles and create interesting textures. Wayercolour and sketching is a popular style
