I'm no longer anticipating the April release of Adi Shankar's Devil May Cry anime on Netflix

I was, until I learned he was personally invited in the inauguration for Trump just this January 2025

Perhaps there's more to him than just this moment. But I'm no insider and any developments that may occur I'm going to have to adapt to them as they come by

I know the media entertainment we consume comes from a very exploitative and imperfect system. I try to find out who these people are and how we, both creators and audience alike, navigate such a system with our art & enjoyment of them

It's not foolproof... i mean we just came out of Neil Gaiman's very horrific case. We can never really be certain who is who until some truth comes out to light.

In Shankar's case he just did it on his own. With his frigging Glass Onion lil "disruptor" poser bs, claiming being "subversive" & appropriating it simultaneously.

That being said because the franchise of Devil May Cry is part of my blog/account and unfortunately I do post fan art content about it, specifically the reboot version, I do feel responsible in being an extension because I have previous posts being happy for the anime, for Shankar and more...

So just to let anyone know, I'm just not gonna be onto the netflix anime, and probably not be involved as much in the next few months

I have one February/Valentine's themed fan art post coming up but afterwards you're not gonna be hearing a lot from me especially the netflix anime of DMC, but likely nothing about the reboot DmC fan posts as well

I guess to haters of DmC that's probably very comforting for you to know lol

But I wish there's a little more "Stand Your Ground" punk attitude in the dmc fandom overall

Why aren't we calling out Adi Shankar? Why aren't we criticizing this direction for Devil May Cry? And no, I'm not talking about any stylistic choice, hair color, Limp Bizkit, etc

I'm speaking about why we aren't holding these companies accountable or at least cheer for an actual punk artist creator to helm this franchise/anime?

I do understand that fandom in general are regular folk & we are all tired & have lives that need constant attention. Consuming entertainment art does overlap with escapism

But all art forms aren't just consumed for one's escapism. Because if you really do believe in the artistic essence of Devil May Cry, we really should've pushed to have this franchise break its own glass ceiling, maybe a long time ago now..

I do apologise that this is no longer just a rant and probably is preaching. But I do hope some people will give it a think.

I also don't really hold it against you if you are still about to watch the anime.

To burden fans/audience to be always the idealized critic or an all-knowing person is simply impossible, nor is it always a reflection of who they are or what they believe

I do believe that fans/audience deserve to be well aware and to have integrity, and to understand that it does suck, it sucks media has become this way, but it doesn't mean we have to constantly blame one another

As final words that echo the general sentiment many of fellow ex-Gaiman fans, and perhaps in extension to being former fans of once-beloved creators...

Great art has been done and will be done by the most horrific people. But that doesn't mean we're blinded by their art. We ought to see them as people. And as people they too have a lot to answer for

The day of divine intervention, I briefly met my ex boss/friend at the supermarket right when I spent all day thinking about calling him to ask if I can work at the bar again, my 10th grade English teacher texted me to ask if I can give private lessons to one of his frustrated students, the guy from the record store will be there tomorrow when I go to pick up some vinyls so I'll get a good discount again

The Art Institute of Chicago, which owns a major collection of Japanese prints, is currently exhibiting this extremely fragile example under highly controlled conditions (and only through January 6th). People have been waiting up to an hour at times to see it.

I had an insane battle in Pokémon Black 2's Battle Institute

First of all, this guy had the same name as one of my friends; I have never met anyone else with that name.

He then leads with Articuno and Registeel. I was using a mono-electric team of Zapdos, Electivire, Eelektross, and Stunfisk. Articuno went for Mind Reader right off the bat meaning it was the fucking 100% accuracy Sheer Cold one. Zapdos and Electivire thankfully knocked itvout before it could OHKO anyone, but I was scared for my life.

He then sends out Thundurus, who, with some help from Registeel, immediately knocked out Electivire. I'm pretty sure that thing outsped despite me having Tailwind active on my side.

I sent out Eelektross who I then accidentally paralyzed with Discharge. At one point, Eelektross still managed to land a hit despite having both Paralysis and Confusion active.

I ended up switching it into Stunfisk instead only for Thundurus to go for Sky Drop. That move is banned!!! Why can he use it, but I can’t???

Anyways, I finally took down Registeel with a Heat Wave from Zapdos. Thundurus used U-Turn to switch to Regigigas before just reappearing on the other side of the field.

Regigigas decided to spam Wide Guard which completely walled Zapdos who only had Tailwind, Light Screen, Heatwave, and Discharge.

I eventually swapped Zapdos for Eelektross and also put Toxic on the Regi via Stunfisk. Eelektross finally defeated Thundurus, then the two of them waited while Regigigas slowly died to Toxic.

I think sport is the easiest, safest way to practice the vertue of relentless optimism because it bears little to no consequence if few boxes are checked. Said boxes to be checked are: has this club alrady smashed your hopes and dreams before? If no, best not hope cause the fall is higher than Barça's debt. If yes, wooo, then it's pessimism out. Pessimism and realism only wish it had the sheer tomfoolery of optimism. Optimism in sport is silly and so funny, even more so when your team has actually already faced tremendous defeats in the past. You think Napoli-Barça can hit me worse than corner taken quickly? You think Napoli-Barça can have me shout STOP THE COUNT before it gets to 8-2? Post-remontada disappointment, Neymar se queda, Liverpool, Bayern, Roma, 2019 UCL run, Messi leaving, mate that club has smashed my optimistic virginity more times than I can count. Boludo I'm NUMB. It's routine by now. I might as well have fun with it. I think we'll win, I think I'm gonna have the time of my life and if we don't eh so what? We'll go for a next round next year. So it turns out my Nana's house hasn't been insured for like 6 months and not one of the legal people my mom talked to told her that so luckily nothing happened but she figured it all out with State Farm and then got off the phone and said "The ads were right. State Farm was there 😲"
