I saw waterparks last night. It was the first time I ever got drunk. Awsten refused to do a shoey and I respect him for that so much. He called us all violent and said we needed to be for our friends before he played 2 Best Friends. Otto said one word I think. He made us apologies to a girl on facetime after we booed her cause she couldn't be here cause she was studying biochemisty and that's something you probably need to go to college for and one day she was gonna change the world, and we parrot his American accent back to him. My friend was an absolute sweetheart and only came cause I wanted to go to the concert with someone. We taught him how to say mum in an Australian accent.

I can't believe I almost let the whole (Northern Hemisphere) summer go by without making any summer fun Barbie posts.

Not that Summer.

Barbie was, at least for a while, intrinsically tied to the idea of summer joy. Malibu Barbie is probably the most well-known Barbie, even though it wasn't the best selling doll in the line. And to this day, it's very common to see Barbie releases enjoying the summer sun in a bathing suit.

It's such an iconic part of the Barbie experience that in the Barbie movie, Ken is identified with the job Beach.

It isn't just about Barbie in bathing suits, though. A number of Barbie playsets are about enjoying summertime activities, like the Barbie Loves the Ocean Beach Shack playset.

Where Barbie has a blender to make fruit smoothies by the beach. Or at least, I think that's the vibe. They could be banana daiquiris for all I know. You do you, Barbie.

And I can't even count the amount of times Barbie is picnicking, grilling, barbecuing, or otherwise enjoying the open air.

(Those are slightly harder to look up, as we call barbecues "barbies" in Australia. No, I don't know why we talk like that.)

One of Skipper's multitude of first jobs was at a waterpark, even!

Or at least, the label calls it a waterpark. It's not exactly the world's greatest -- but it's pretty cool.

How impatient is awsten usually for reveals like are we talking like reveal tomorrow, a week, what do we think? I wanna know what's going onnnnn

let’s seeeee uhhhh from the “there is a new waterparks album” written post it took about a month for that to be officially announced

similarly, with the red “alright” writing post, it took a couple months for awsten to reveal his red hair and then a couple more months for funeral grey to even come out

but then also with the original “alright” tweet after awsten came back from writing greatest hits, it took him a week to leak lowkey as hell

so really. something small in the grand scheme will likely be announced within a week or sometime before tour comes to australia and the bigger stuff will come in about a month - iz

Once again, overnight, it absolutely fell down. The rain bouncing off anything it could bounce on as the thunder crashed. Well, I suppose it is the wet season! Trouble is, this damp weather seems to be bringing out the best in our fly. He is ever present, us slapping thighs like we were wearing lederhosen in a dance in Bavaria. And still we miss. Apparently, no matter how fast we think we are coming down on a fly, he sees it as though slow motion and is off well before the threat of being squashed is realised. Worse, of course, than the flies are the odd cockroaches that scurry across the kitchen floor. No matter how much reasoning is administered with a size 8, they still send reinforcement from somewhere. They do seem to have abated though of late. We are in a rainforest so what can you expect?

If truth be told, Byfield is a lovely place, but there's not a lot going on here. The sea is not far away, but access is by 4WD only. So we thought we'd walk the 9.4 km round trip to the busy, vibrant town of Byfield. Despite a population of only 323 in the Byfield and surrounding area, the Cafe on a Sunday morning was well attended by local people. They must come from far and wide; the carpark being full of 4WD Toyotas. It was overcast but very sultry, and the distance walked was quite a struggle, but we made it OK. Back for lunch, and it was then off to the Waterpark. (Not the sort with curly wirly slides) This was a circular walk through rainforests passing many Byfield ferns, ferns that are found nowhere else in the world. We were thinking about taking a sample home, then it might be said they are found only in Eastern Australia and Gloucestershire. We resisted the urge to try. We will be moving south again tomorrow, and soon, we will leave the rainforest behind.

Our little cabin has a jacuzzi, so as a variation on a theme, we partook of our SB and nibbles from the wet, jet bubbling, foamy, throbbing, auspices of the jacuzzi. Keeping the nibbles dry was not easy.

Tomorrow, we will be moving on to a place called Seventeen Seventy, named after the place where James Cook made his second landing in Australia in May 1770 and his first in Queensland. Originally named Round Hill, it was changed to 1770 in 1936.

We shall enjoy our last night here before an early start. It is pouring with rain again, and storms are promised. Well, it is the wet season, after all!
